I haven’t posted in a while and I apologize. I have a lot going on with two jobs, college classes, taking car or my son and my fiancée, and a lot of terrible family stuff is going on as well. My plate is full, my emotions are full. I’m literally about to explode and no one understand at all.

This post is about depression - part 1.
The basic definition of depression is a group of conditions associated with the elevation or lowering of a person's mood, such as depression or bipolar disorder.
There are 5 main types of depression, don’t worry we will go over all of them throughout these posts.
What does depression feel like? The persistent feeling of sadness or loss of interest that characterizes major depression can lead to a range of behavioral and physical symptoms. These may include changes in sleep, appetite, energy level, concentration, daily behavior, or self-esteem. Depression can also be associated with thoughts of suicide.
Things not to say to a depressed person:
-"Snap Out of It"
-"Try Harder"
-"Cheer Up!"
-"But You Don't Look Depressed!"
-"It Can't Be That Bad"
-"It Could Be Worse"
-"You Think You Have It Bad. . ."
-"It's All in Your Head"
-”It’s Your Fault”
-"Who Cares?"
-"You Don't Think About Anyone But Yourself"
-"I Don't Understand"
-"This Too Shall Pass"
-”Let It Go”
Things to say to a depressed person:
-“I Care”
-Remind Them You're There for Them
-Ask How You Can Help
-Urge Them to Talk With a Doctor But DO NOT Force
-Ask Them If They Want to Talk
-Remind Them That They Matter
-Tell Them You Understand (If You Really Do)
-Remind Them It's OK to Feel This Way
-Assure Them They're Not Weak or Defective
-Emphasize That There's Hope
Warning Signs of Severe Depression:
Insomnia or excessive sleeping
Irritability
Loss of interest in activities that used to be enjoyable
Hopelessness
Persistent thoughts of something bad happening
Thoughts of death or suicide or suicide attempts
In very severe cases, psychotic symptoms (such as hallucinations or delusions)
Inability to take care of oneself, such as eating, bathing, or fulfilling family or work responsibilities
Current or past history of substance abuse.
Past history of suicide attempt
Family history of suicide
Family history of mental illness or substance abuse
Firearms in the home
Incarceration
Feelings of hopelessness
Talking about wanting to die or wanting to kill yourself
Looking for a way to kill yourself, such as searching online for methods or buying a gun/
Talking about feeling hopeless or having no reason to live
Talking about feeling trapped or in unbearable pain
Talking about being a burden to others
Increasing use of alcohol or drugs
Acting anxious or agitated; behaving recklessly
Sleeping too little or too much
Withdrawing or feeling isolated
Showing rage or talking about seeking revenge.
Displaying extreme mood swings.
