➥ Second child of House Gillmere, being raised by an heiress in her own right granted Aviana a less conventional upbringing than many of her peers. Though she showed no particular aptitude for the sword (a fact she’s convinced disappoints her mother), she and her siblings were taught under the same tutors regardless of sex, and what she lacked in grace or ferocity, she made up in a voracious appetite for knowledge.

➥ For the most part her childhood was practically idyllic, her family was happy and she trusted that while perfection was impossible, she could expect a safe and happy life ahead of her. 

➥ When she turned 19 she was betrothed to a young man not much older than herself, to great fanfare and public approval. He was lovely, and chivalrous, and after a lifetime surrounded by people who loved each other it was easy to believe that a handsome soul glowed from that handsome face. She’d played every game exactly as she should, and being a good and dutiful daughter was paying off.

➥ Most people thought it was grief that drove her to retreat from society to hide away in the family home, and it was if you think technically; she was never a good enough actress to fake grief for so long when all she truly felt was relief.

➥ The line between “bereaved fiance” and “loony hermit” has grown thinner every year, and Avi has accepted that it’s time for her to return to public life. That doesn’t mean she’s happy about it.

➥ secret circle. a group of people interested in conspiracies, whispers, the occult, etc. who gather and talk about the ~taboo with each other over alcohol and a warm fire. potentially dangerous to the crown, but for now they’re simply . . . talking. 

➥ childhood friends. they were once closer than close. best friends, soulmates. then, sieon left without a word and only just now has returned. they’re not sure if they fit in with the “new” sieon’s world, but they hold a special soft spot for each other. 

➥ crush. they’re sweet on the eyes and to the ears. sieon’s a constant flirt, harmlessly so, but he feels a little squeeze squeeze to the heart whenever they’re around. it probably doesn’t mean anything, but he’s hanging on every word they say. 

➥ betrothal.  nothing’s set in stone yet. after all, they’re one of the poorer, less well-known houses in the kingdom. their lands offer more criminals with bribes than tax payers. sieon isn’t keen on the idea of marrying, but his mother’s urging a safe match as their father’s health continues to decline. 

➥ discoverer.  on an impromptu journey, sieon discovers his magical powers, opening a world of questions, concerns, and danger. they’re with him when it happens and vow to keep his secret  ( for whichever purpose ). a confidante by circumstance, they’re by his side when he chooses to tap into this newfound potential. 

➥ seducer. ( not necessarily sexual )  they’re promising adventure. fulfillment. excitement. all of those things sound like heaven to sieon, who’s sick of paper pushing and catching his laughs on the street. a nimble young man with good knees and even better ears, they might find good use for him.
