ok i'm about to tism out super hard here about like the entire lore, so i'm putting a cutoff thing here cause it'll be a lot. you've been warned

first important event in the timeline: they hit the second tower. gerard way, lead singer saw it in person and forms the band as a way of getting his feelings out with his lil bro mikey(bass), as well as their friends ray(lead guitar) and frank(rhythm guitar). they went through a bunch of drummers too but nobody cares about them. also would like to mention they tongue kissed on stage a lot

so in 2002 they release album 1 "i brought you my bullets, you brought me your love". it's very cathartic, heavy, emotional with lots of themes about depression and desperation. standout track imo is:

2004, they release "three cheers for sweet revenge". it tells the story of a man who has to give the devil the souls of a thousand evil men to save his lover, but after killing 999 he finds out the final one is his. they wore a bunch of cool makeup and did amazing mvs and it's my fav album ever. it also has this song about getting sodomised in jail

in 2006 they make "the black parade" and it's the peak of their fame. gerard also cut his hair short😒 but ig we couldn't have everything. it also tells a story about a guy dying of cancer and reminiscing on his life, and it's much more glam and flashy than anything they've done before. it also contains my fav song ever, which has unironically saved the lives of many ppl including myself

asp gerard writes a comic book called "danger days: the true lives of the fabulous killjoys" and in 2010 they make an album with the same name based on it, where he gets his bandmates to dress up as his ocs for it. it's about rebelling against a megacorporation in a post-apocalypse sci-fi setting, and the music itself is very positive, upbeat and energetic, so massive tonal shift. it also contains the catchiest song ever

then frank got hunted down by the fbi, they scrapped a concept album called "conventional weapons", broke up, gerard and frank did solo projects, then they got back together again. then they did a comeback tour in 2022, wore a bunch of dresses and made monkey noises and now there's DEFINITELY gonna be a 5th album this year trust

THREE CHEERS FOR SWEET REVENGE!!

BECAUSE (lore timeeee) so first of all, it was the first MCR album I got a physical copy of (vinyl), and it became such a pivotal album to me. Beginning of summer 2023, just after exams and shit. I have so many memories associated with it.

So I got it in June 2023, and I went with my dad to a record store before we had to go to one of my school campuses to see the art exhibition that was put up of the all student's final (or favourite) art pieces that year. They didn't have space for the one I made, so they put up some painting from earlier that year that I hated :/ anyway, I got home, and listened to the album on repeat. Did that many, many times, whenever I had the chance.

This was also just after I'd broken up with my ex, so it kinda became my breakup album so to speak. Which to an extent fits the albums themes of loss and grief. Although breaking up with my ex was by no means a loss, it was. Really difficult, because we'd built a really close connection, and told each other things we'd never told anyone else, and the realisation that they had always been a piece of shit hit hard. Even if I should've noticed it earlier, even if they were an awful person, and I was angry, and I hated them. I didn't want to. I wished it didn't have to be that way, but yk. I'm going off on a tangent, but I've been over them for a long time, and I don't feel the same way anymore.

Anyway, I'm Not Okay (I Promise) was the first MCR song Iistened to. I still get really excited every time it comes on, like fucking hell I love that song. It's just so goooddd. And I could go on about fucking analysing every song on the album, but I'm not gonna.

I'm just gonna say, that album means so much to me in so many ways. It's just everything to me. I couldn't imagine liking a another album more than I love Three Cheers.

my main/oldest special interest is japanese fashion subcultures! (lolita, mori kei, fairy kei, dolly kei and cult party kei to be specific)

isaac's emo phase in canon. arthur morgan timewarped to see his son wear skinny jeans, black nail-polish and converse AND STILL LOVES HIM REGARDLESS.

those concerts arthur takes him to? mcr. fallout boy. peak panic at the disco. the used. jimmy eat world. tonight alive. linkin park. simple plan. evanescence (we are the fallen superiority). i should stop just listing the stuff i listened to in my phase but yes. he also would've resented being called emo but it was so obviously an emo phase

isaac only wanted a guitar so he could learn 'i'm not okay' and insisted on getting a les paul for his first guitar which of course meemaw bessie was all too happy to pay for because she will always spoil her grandbabies and please any hobby that wasn't getting him into trouble

hosea and arthur did have to team up to stop the emo sweep hair from happening and honestly thanked god when the helena music video dropped and isaac immediately decided he would instead wear his hair long and greased back with enough product it looked like it needed to be wringed out instead

everyone regularly had to remind him to turn down his headphones because hearing loss is real

it is not a phase. he is still listening to all that stuff well into adulthood when jack gets timewarps immediately gets jack into it too. they are both depressed emos who lay on the floor listening to three cheers for sweet revenge (jack's fav mcr album, isaac's is danger days)

despite having naturally black hair, isaac box-dyes his hair transylvania black and jack laughs for a solid 20 minutes when he catches him

in an angsty twist (you were waiting for it, admit it) isaac's emo phase is why he's so attached to jack, because while he was in his peak emo 'no one understands me i'm a lost boy i was born in the wrong era twice*' phase is when he found out jack marston did in fact have a book published despite being executed at only 19.

thank god for john marston being a barely okay dad because jack wrote a lot about how out of place he felt, not only with his family being the way they were while he was the way he was, but also having faint memories of the gang, sneaking glances at arthur's journal and wondering how his life would have been different if the gang hadn't been torn apart. the entries go past john's death, jack's struggles with the ranch and abigail's illness, being forced to become his dad's idea of what a man instead of deciding who he wanted to be, concluding with the vague implication he was planning to go after ross (which isaac also knows he will do, because future antics)

what could possibly be more emo than having a cousin born 100 years in the past, who is simultaneously younger than you and older than you, who becomes an outlaw, commits murder and then is executed for it? isaac understands at least chronologically how the timewarp works - that even though jack has already been executed and had this biographical fiction published - at that actual point in canon era jack is still 5 years younger than him yet to experience the things he's written about

being able to relate to jack actually gives isaac a reason to push through the bullshit of modern era adolescence and high school because he knew one day jack is going to timewarp and he is going to be right there for him. because, let's be honest, most of us emos were just mentally ill teens who didn't know where to go for help, and isaac was definitely depressed
