location: cobblestone cafe
Margaret had been shopping at Della Mode more frequently and recognized the assistant manager upon entering Cobblestone Cafe. "Harlow," Margaret approached, a small smile sitting against her lips. "it's Margaret," she introduced herself, in case the younger woman had forgotten their interaction the other day. "I wanted to thank you again," she continued on, "the gift was well liked." The woman continued to wear a small smile, "Let me buy your coffee as a thanks?" She offered to her.

kismet harbor's 100th annual winter festival - holiday food and drinks
Daisy was checking out Kismet Harbor's Winter Festival with a smile resting on her lips. She had always been someone that enjoyed a community coming together and it was clear how to her how many people were truly enjoying the one-hundredth annual winter festival. Daisy had grabbed a hot chocolate from one of the local stands and was walking through the crowd when she spotted a familiar face. "Hey, Harlow, right?" She waved to the woman, having recognized her from checking out the local book club, "Daisy," she offered her name in return as she wouldn't be surprised if it hadn't stuck.

"Yeah," Harlow caused Dana to laugh with her words, "honestly, having the separate guest house is much better for all of us. Even if none of us are going to outwardly say that." Dana was merely grateful for all the things that Julian gave her, that she worked for. Her working relationship with him was unlike any other. "You can be a cool aunt when or if I have kids," Dana wasn't exactly in a position in which she was ready to have kids. She didn't even have a relationship at the moment, "Auntie Harlow," she knew if she had kids that they would not be without a large family. "That's the hope," she teased, "even if just being around them has made me think about it," Dana admitted to Harlow. @harlowhanlon

END.
“Thank you, it’s very much appreciated.“ A humorous thread was interwoven with the syllables she spoke and Harlow’s lips widened into a grin. And then, nodded, raising her glass for a toast. “To all the traditions we have yet to establish!” She spoke with a laugh, a sound doused in the sweetest, most genuine kind of excitement. “I liked the boat, to be honest. But even with a boat this size, I can see how it might have been a little inconvenient, when Haven was over.” A sigh, though her expression was unwavering. “Good for you and good for them.” Another giggle. “Is it bad that I kind of envy you? I wish I could be the cool wine aunt one day.” And the hints of sadness showed. Harlow was rarely open about how she’d wished for siblings, to not be by herself, though as the poor liar that she was, it would have taken very little for anyone to take notice of the sheer fact. “Something’s telling me that they’re going to be too busy to pressure you in any kind of way.” @danaxallenlopez

Hazal looked up at Verity as she spoke, "Of course," she shrugged her shoulders, "you think I have other plans for Valentine's Day?" Her brows raised. If anything, Hazal had spent the last few years entertaining the Anti-Valentine's Day Party that was hosted at the bar and grill. "It is a good time," she smiled at Verity, "probably our first one together, huh?" @veritywagner @harlowhanlon

"So, I was thinking--" She said, looking ahead of herself at her friend. "As my shift is about to end soon and I don't have anything else planned or better to do than go home and curl up in bed." Something she did a lot more of than she wanted to admit. "Would you like to check out the event going on over there with me? I watched it from behind the bar last year, and it looked like it could be a lot of fun? Especially if we manage to get some drinks down beforehand?"

"I would," she nodded her head to answer Harlow's question in addition to her confirmation via words. "What? Her brows furrowed once more and she shook her head at the blonde woman. "You don't, you couldn't," she offered, "C'mon," she offered, "some teen needs a job to put all these back so we can get coffee, a treat, whatever you want, on me." She offered again in a softened tone. @harlowhanlon

Tears were welling and she shook her hands, as though it would appease these burdensome emotions, whelming on and on. And as Dana voiced her proposition, there was a shallow sense of calmness, slowly easing the burning of tears. "You would?" She asked and yet nodded in response, relief's kin unfolding and curling around her. A lukewarm comfort. "I'm sorry, Dana," Harlow managed to utter. "Sorry, I don't want to make you uncomfortable." @danaxallenlopez

She smiled at Harlow's words, being called noble once more. Logan loved what she did, but she wasn't one to brag about it either. Her head tipped to the side, listening as Harlow tried to find the words to tell her what she did, "Oh?" Her brows raised, straightening her head as she looked at the young woman, "Care to elaborate, or are you trying to make me guess, I promise we would be here all day if you did that." @harlowhanlon
Tumblr media
Telling the truth for people - yeah, noble seemed to be the right word and Harlow found herself caught between hypocritical disdain and hesitant marvel at the sincerity with which Logan spoke. Harlow's opinion on the press wasn't the best, albeit her bias being far from firm. She liked to think she'd let someone convince her otherwise. "Like I said," she said, nodding her head once again, "very noble of you." At Logan's question, tension coiled up beneath her skin and nervousness uncoiled with immediate effect. "Oh, you know," she said, a nervous giggle filling the brief pause, which followed her words. "I, uh ... I work in a ... a pretty important business. Something, uh - something people rely on. Kind of." @loganxwalker

"Pink Moscato," she called out to Harlow from the living room to answer her question, hearing her approaching while holding two glasses in her hand. "I mean, I am a sucker for good wine so you will have to send me a list of your favorites," she told Harlow with a smile, "At least, while I have some time in Kismet Harbor to enjoy them." She knew it wouldn't be long before she was traveling with Julian once more for work. As a feline companion joined them on the couch, she instinctively reached out her hand to run along the backside of the cat. "No, you have not," she smiled as Harlow set the glasses down. "How did you happen about Romy?" @harlowhanlon

“So, what are we feeling?” Harlow’s words rang from her shared apartment’s walls as she moved from the kitchen, bearing empty glasses and obvious intent, while a feline’s soundless paws followed her on her tracks. “Pink Moscato or White Zinfandel?” Her brows were raised in expectancy of an answer, as she moved closer and lowered herself onto the soft cushions of the couch, beside Dana. “I went to this wine tasting a little while ago and let me tell you - some of the new flavors are insanely good.” With one secure jump, Romy joined Harlow and Dana and folded into herself, while Harlow sat the glasses down on the coffee table in front of them. “Have I introduced you to Romy yet?”

"Thankfully not too bad of an emergency," she teased, though more than anything it was just her job at the end of the day. She had her days off, but it could easily be a twenty-four hour, seven day a week job and sometimes it was. "That sounds absolutely horrid," she pouted in the direction of the other woman, "what do you want to do?" She grinned at her, "The evening is yours for the taking, I'm here for just about anything." As long as it wasn't going to hurt anyone else or land her in the local jail overnight. @harlowhanlon
Tumblr media
The roll of blue eyes was of playful nature, as implied by the way Harlow's lips were pulled into a saccharine smile. "Of course," she spoke with a laugh and Dana should know better than to assume any ill intentions. "Another emergency?" Blonde tendrils cascaded from her shoulder as Harlow tilted her head to the side, her smirk maintaining its place against full lips. "Thank god, because I need to get out. I've been stuck in my apartment almost every single night of the last week. Do you know how awful that is, Dana?" @danaxallenlopez

"It can be a really overwhelming flavor," Margaret commented in return after Harlow mentioned it could make her feel a little sick. "My daughter has been guilty of overloading herself on candy canes and not feeling well. She's yet to learn her lesson." The blonde woman laughed softly at the thought of her own daughter. "You're welcome," she told the younger woman, "it's not a problem at all," plus Margaret had been feeling generous and wanted to shower her gratitude. "You were a great help," she smiled, "and I wanted that to be appreciated." @harlowhanlon
Tumblr media
Harlow nodded, as though Margaret's words contained a profound revelation of an unknown truth. Something grand, which she had not considered before. "Probably." Another nod, and then another smile played around pink lips. "I love peppermint flavors but I'm afraid my body does not. Too much peppermint flavor makes me feel a little sick, to be honest." A sigh. "It's a shame, really." And as they arrived at the counter, Margaret's order placed was nothing but a minor detail amidst the white noise, ubiquitously swimming in the room's warm and cozy atmosphere. A brief glance sent her blue eyes to check her phone's screen, before averting her attention to her company once more. "Thanks again, by the way." She said, vaguely pointing at the barista preparing their drinks. "That's really nice of you." @margaretxhawthorne

"It is more of an acquired taste, I think," Margaret knew that many people either loved or hated the pumpkin-spice flavor, "are you that with peppermint flavors, too?" She questioned curiously to the younger woman, "it seems like it will only be here in a matter of time," once Halloween passed, Thanksgiving was only a moment behind and then it was full force into the Christmas holiday season, "I think I am too, though," she smiled at her, approaching the counter to order for the both of them. She handed off her card before stepping to the side. @harlowhanlon
Tumblr media
With divided attention, she perceived Margaret's words only in her periphery, as her eyes studied the front of the line, as though she tried to unveil the reason as to why the café was packed and the line unmoving. And then, he returned her blue-eyed gaze to the other, a smile swiftly returning to her lips. "Oh, totally." She nodded. "I'm torn about the pumpkin-spice-hype, if I'm being honest. I really have to be in the mood for it." A beat. "And I think I am right now, actually." @margaretxhawthorne

Her head nodded in agreement, "I get that. I lived in Portland and the city got all dressed up for the holiday and decorations galore, but there's something about Kismet that is much cozier and doesn't make it feel like the consumer's holiday, but a holiday around family and friends." Daisy smiled as Harlow mentioned the gingerbread competition. "Wait, that's really a thing?" She could imagine there was some hinted disappointment since Harlow had not won yet. "That sounds so fun and I bet your houses have been great." She smiled warmly at the other, nodding her had to the question. "You know, it's the little things that have caught my attention the most. Especially, back to this," she laughed softly, "how everyone is embracing the season, the deorations, the lights and even the way that people greet eah other on the street." A pause followed as she continued to smile, "Though I may need to check out the gingerbread competition, see what I might be in for next year if I enter." @harlowhanlon
Tumblr media
Harlow nodded, intently listening to Daisy's words as she spoke. "I can imagine." She nodded again, subtle movements sending blonde tendrils bouncing on her shoulders as she pondered on a thought that crossed her mind. "I've celebrated Christmas in LA a few times, but ... in all honesty, it does not compare. At all." A beat. "Which is not to say that it wasn't nice -- it absolutely was. But, I mean, you've said it already. Here, it's just cozy." And when the inquiry about her favorite activity was placed in reality, a smile started to grow atop her lips. "Definitely the gingerbread house competition. I've been entering each year that I've been here for Christmas and still have yet to win anything. I don't know ... I really don't think my gingerbread houses are that bad." A sigh, her smile waning as disappointment was palpable for a mere moment. "Has anything here caught your attention?" @daisyxmiller

Margaret smiled at Harlow as well, "I'm sure it's both," admittedly, she was surprised when there was something new for a seasonal item as if people hadn't come up with all of the ideas yet. "It's good in small quantities if I'm being honest," she began to explain to Harlow, "I don't like it often during the season but I rarely have gone a fall without having at least one pumpkin-spiced drink." Margaret continued, "It's the same with peppermint drinks as well." @harlowhanlon
Tumblr media
For Harlow, it was nothing extraordinary or special, nothing she had expected anyone to thank her over, and yet, she would not easily decline Margaret's offer. It was a feeling, bordering on flattery that seized her in a tender embrace and her gentle smile was proof of it. "I think they have some new fall-themed pastries." Harlow said, following Margaret's gaze once more. "Or maybe it's the return of pumpkin-spiced drinks." And then, she glanced back at Margaret. "Do you like pumpkin-spiced drinks?" @margaretxhawthorne

Daisy smiled as the other acknowledged that she was remembered. "I really am," she answered Harlow's question, "honestly, I have not experienced anything quite like it. I've lived in Portland and Bend," she started to tell Harlow, "and while there were lots of winter activities, I don't think any felt as cozy as this one does." Daisy could only imagine what it would be like if they had actual snow. "What's your favorite thing to do at the winter festival?" @harlowhanlon
Tumblr media
Steam rose from the cup in her hand and mingled with the brisk winter air, as she buried her face deeper into her soft scarf. Cheeks were painted a rosy hue as another cold breeze kissed exposed parts of her skin and her smile lingered on in tender quiet, while azure-hued eyes observed the scenery's familiarity. It was her first winter festival since her return from Los Angeles, earlier this year and Harlow could barely think about how much she had missed the comfort the festivities had offered her, when she heard her name spoken into the winter air. She raised her brows, almost expectantly and turned to see features, she was familiar with. A smile was her first response, her spoken words following soon after. "Yes, I remember." A nod, as though to reinforce her words' sincerity. "Are you enjoying the festival so far?" @daisyxmiller

As Harlow said that it was not about the product she had missed seeing, her heart sank deeper into the pit of her stomach, "W-what's to much? Do you want to talk about it? We can abandon these groceries," Dana offered, "I'll buy us coffee, something to eat," the brunette wasn't sure she'd take no for an answer, "I - I wouldn't feel comfortable walking away unless I know you are okay." @harlowhanlon
Tumblr media
Seconds flew by before her sobs lessened, grew more quiet and Harlow took a breath, quivering as Dana placed her hand on her arm. It was a sense of comfort, something almost foreign that meandered up Harlow's arm and another tear fell from reddened eyes. "It's ..." She shook her head and misery came to seize her in a chokehold. Her immeasurable discomfort was blatantly clear as she looked down the aisle and could only hope no one but Dana had witnessed the worst of her outburst. "It's not about that," Harlow sniffed quietly, shaking her head and leaving tendrils of blonde dance around her face. "It's just too much." @danaxallenlopez

"I have the utmost faith in you," she grinned at Harlow. "Every friendship does need traditions." With Harlow, she could imagine that they'd be fun to establish in the coming years. "I know, it's been a little strange," she pinched her fingers together, "it's nice having a more separate space, not that the boat wasn't huge," she told Harlow, "but at least now when Haven comes over, I feel that I'm truly out of the way and can give them their own space." She was close to Julian and was constantly with him for their work, but the last thing she wanted was to be in the way when Haven was over as they deserved their time together without Dana around. "Thank you," she grinned brightly, "I love it, it's been so great so far." And it hadn't been long at all. "Hopefully neither of them start pressuring me for a kid next," she teased with a laugh. @harlowhanlon
Tumblr media
"Sometimes." Her voice was carried by lightness, her words denoted by something gentle and humorous. It was one of the many things she admired about Dana - her dedication to her job, her verve when it came to professional matters. And a smile broke more loose as Dana continued on, eliciting a saccharine laugh from Harlow. "You know I aim to live up to your expectations." Another laugh as her fingers reached for her glass of wine. "We definitely should. Every friendship needs traditions, right?" While she spoke her words with another laugh, the genuine nature of her proposition could not be denied. And then, as Dana proceeded, Harlow brought her glass up to her lips, listening and offering a nod as an initial, nonverbal response. "Oh? Julian no longer lives at the pier? Never thought I'd live to see the day." She might be exaggerating, until, at the mention of the addition to Dana's family, it was sincerity that took reign of Harlow's demeanor. "Oh. My. God. Congratulations!" A beat. "Auntie Dana! Oh, that's so adorable." @danaxallenlopez

"I'm sure," she nodded her head to confirm. Certainly, it wasn't much of anything to buy someone's coffee but when it came to picking out gifts for people, Margaret often didn't have the bandwidth to do so and Harlow had saved her ass, so to speak. Margaret peered around Harlow, looking at the length of the line, "Honestly," she shook her head, "I haven't. There must be some sort of new item release, I'd think." @harlowhanlon
Tumblr media
It was a waiting game that she played. She'd held her position in the queue for the past five minutes, and looked ahead, next to the shoulders of the people, all waiting for their turn to get a hot beverage or a small treat, all in order to start their day off right. And just as she started to contemplate letting impatience take over, a familiar voice uttering her name called for her attention. With something that might have passed as a pirouette, blue eyes landed on no one other than Margaret Hawthorne. The smile she bore, as the woman proceeded to talk, was as sweet as it was genuine. "Oh, I'm glad!" A nod. "Oh, you ...? I mean ... sure. Thank you." And then, she looked back ahead toward the counter for no longer than a second or two. "Well, if we ever make it this far. Have you ever seen this place this busy before?" @margaretxhawthorne
