Of all the ghosts Fu Hua could chase, there was a less-than-subtle reminder of how similar civilizations were, even amongst the stars. Despite Earth being lifetimes away, she could find familiarity in these distant lands, that their realities were grounded in the same truths that her own was founded in. With skies fading into space, with stars speckled overhead and cascading auroras streaking in unpredictable directions, this was not her home no matter how welcoming and kind it may seem.

Her home stopped being a physical place long ago, but even now a sense of nostalgia washes over her, like needles being poked all along flame-licked arms. The momentum of each Starskiff cutting through the air weakens to but a gentle gust against those walking through, barely enough to jostle the hairs upon one's head.

Even being in such a similar place, it felt like a dream. Like this portal she skipped through was merely an altered perception of what is and what was. Off-kilter. Slightly to the left or right, but never exactly as it was. Memories accrued through vast lifetimes and cherished, all leading back to roots festering so deep. The desire to live. A great battle had taken place on the Xianzhou Luofu. It was a call to action for many, and with that came the need to teach. Recruitment to teach new recruits. As if finding that funny, Fu Hua wove through the crowd of the Central Starskiff Haven.

Though as she sought the address on the flyer, something does catch Vicissitude's attention. A blue blur, with white hair. For but a moment, she catches a glimpse of eyes, two shades of blue. A new sense of familiarity: deja vu. The crowd is passive, but each person creates their own waves and rifts amongst the others. Skirting to the outside, eyes would scan, trying to catch such a fragile droplet before she is whisked away in the flood of people.

Once that unique blue is spotted, Fu Hua is quick to act. Stepping in, a hand would find Furina's wrist, chaste as she offered, "Don't panic." In but a moment, she's led Furina from the crowd, letting go now that she wasn't at risk of getting lost.

"I thought it was you. Furina, right?" A smile, though strained, is still compassionate. "I… can't say I would have expected you to be here, of all places." Elaboration intentionally excluded, a hand is offered instead, motioning to a less crowded walkway. "Are you here for the combat training offer too? I've been wandering around but this place is... quite the maze." A stilted chuckle, as if trying to break the ice again.

I didn’t like Furina at first because I usually don’t like characters whose main traits are arrogance and putting down others (shocking admission from the scaramain, I know), but then I realized she’s a cringefailgirl whose desperation to make her people love her have turned her almost into a clown. I am looking for good references to draw her and Arlecchino as a pierrot and harlequin as we SPEAK.

okay so i have been thinking a lil about furina lately and how, even though i love her dearly and want to write her always, for me she is a tricky muse to throw into a situation or dynamic without any kind of plotting whatsoever. so i wanted to make a wishlist of sorts to help guide interactions with her~

obviously i crave post-AQ interactions, though there are some caveats to this seeing as i am very much of the belief that furina shouldn't and wouldn't want to be any part of any future form of government over fontaine. i also do not think she holds the kind of popularity within fontaine that she did prior to her trial and that, no matter what kind of explanation is publicly given for the thwarting of the prophecy, she is still a polarising figure in some circles. so i'm here for exploring director furina and her return to the stage in her SQ, as well as how her dynamics with other fontaine characters might change post-trial ( for those in the know and those who are not. please do not hold your muses back in this regard, fontainians are allowed to dislike her post archon quest ), but she will no longer involve herself publicly in any political stuff. privately, however? she has a great deal of experience and is an asset.

and this doesn't just mean for fontaine; furina offering expertise ( whether accidentally or otherwise ) to other nations, particularly those that have faced recent upheaval like inazuma or sumeru is very interesting to me. furina's not perfect by any means, but she does have five hundred years of experience in ruling a relatively stable nation under her belt. she knows how to manage appearances and how to be loved and adored by her people.

pre-AQ i am very much down for too! i wanna explore how furina hoodwinked an entire nation for five hundred years, i want to explore her cult of celebrity, her time on the stage, the critics of her blasé attitude towards trials at the opera epiclese ( hi navia, hi lyney ), her diva tendencies, her governing style and the work she actually did for fontaine aside from the prophecy stuff. i don't just want to write the uncertain post-AQ furina figuring things out, but the confident version of her who ruled fontaine for all that time and is sometimes incredibly unlikeable.

i also want people to get close to the truth. this is a tricky one because she kept up that facade for five hundred years and the only person who could and nearly got it out of her was the traveler, who is noted to be from another world. but arlecchino got incredibly close to figuring it out, plus it's rp so why can't we rewrite the AQ from an alternative perspective and push things a little?

shipping is suuuch an incredibly low priority for me ( though, as always, i will never say never ). i don't really ship any of her fanon pairings but even without the romantic aspect i want people trying to get close to this girl and seeing just how much of a struggle it is. try to get close to a girl who has lived behind a mask for five centuries. do it. i dare you.

visiting other nations! whether this is furina seeing the rest of teyvat post-AQ or matters of diplomacy between nations pre-AQ, i want them all. i do also think that any reputation she had outside of fontaine would have been less damaged by Events so distancing herself physically by visiting other places ( such as when she goes to chenyu vale during lantern rite ) makes plenty of sense for her.

This year's 'Meropide holiday-day' had gone off without a hitch. No trouble-makers or scrooges, there were smiles and laughter all about, some sitting in the main hall watching holiday films while snacking on chocolate drizzled popcorn, others at the cafeteria drunk on eggnog and half-eaten fruitcake littered throughout the fortress. Even the melusines came to decorate with tinsel, glitter, and holiday decorations so they could spend time with Meropide's nurse.

But for Wriothesley, the thing to top everything off was a visit and performance from none other than Furina de Fontaine. The duke's heart was still racing as the warmth of her lips lingered on his cheek as if they hadn't parted. It was a night where there wasn't a problem in the world... aside from one last thing. He stood beside Fontaine's star while he made one more announcement.

"Attention everyone." The call of his voice brought the film to a pause, silence to the decorated halls, and even peace to the drunks. All eyes were on the pair. "I hope you all have been enjoying the festivities. I'll let you get back to enjoy the rest of the night, but we do have one final activity on the checklist. Miss Sigewinne, if you will." Right on cue, the nurse lowered something from the top of the office, held by a rope. A paper mache mustachio'd man with an eyepatch hung just above, a scowl clear across its cartoonish face.

"As per tradition. We finish off the year with the annual bashing of Monsieur Labarthe. By snuffing out those cruel and petty policies, we brought in a good life for all of us. We have a wonderfully talented and beautiful guest tonight, but as long as Monsieur Labarthe stands, " Wriothesley flaunted a devilish grin. "She is now our prisoner and cannot leave!" Quickly but gently, he blindfolds Furina with a black cut of cloth and places a cardboard claymore in her hands.

He was a proud man, but pettiness was not a trait beneath Wriothesley "By smashing this fiend, she not only regains her rights, but gifts everyone wonderful candies, vouchers, and even credit coupons!" Prisoners, melusines, and even guards circled around in anticipation and cheered their guest on. Amongst the cheers, he places a hand on her shoulder and playfully whispers. "He's five steps in front of you, whack him good for me okay?"

Lantern Rite leaks (I know these are just things so far, etc. usual):

Listen, listen, listen, I've been so highly anticipating Lantern Rite 2024 since it ended this year (it was my first one, it was amazing; one of the reasons why Liyue will always rate so very highly for me) and I'll be thrilled with whatever it is that we get, but!!! Light negative nancy incoming (understandably so, I think), forgive me, stop reading if you'd prefer: no Ningguang, no Beidou, No Madame Ping?? NO YELAN at all??! (Me: listen, I'll be happy to just see her, doesn't even need to speak, I will never expect more, it's perfectly IC)

Edit: Ok ok, we're better. I got so frustrated at the '19' that I missed the 66. But also, IS THIS STILL LANTERN RITE OR IS THIS CHENYU VALE?
