ㅤㅤㅤ"Rahne! Wait--" Dani reaches out to catch Rahne's wrist before the other mutant can slip past her, some of her insistence softening when Wolfsbane doesn't immediately yank her hand away, "-- Are you okay? It's been... some time, since I've seen you."

ㅤㅤㅤI missed you, Dani doesn't say. Or maybe she does, through the psychic rapport that has never stop connecting her to Rahne.

ㅤㅤㅤDani's eyes soften as Rahne's furred claws recede, instantly threading her fingers between the other woman's own slender digits and holding on tight.

ㅤㅤㅤ"Perhaps I should just remind myself that your business is my business…" She says, breathing out a faint laugh, their faces close enough that the exhalation stirs the hair falling against Rahne's cheek "… Or at least, your happiness is."

ㅤㅤㅤThere's so much that could be said between them, so much they could spend ages rehashing like misremembered memories. But does any of it matter, really? When Rahne is here and so is Dani, for once neither of them beholden to a school or a team or a Nation. Moonstar is a realist by nature, she knows there's no telling how long their time together can last. Why waste it with dwelling on the past?

ㅤㅤㅤ"Come--" She says at last, straightening up only enough to catch Rahne's eyes with her own, offering the other woman a smile, "Have you eaten? I made three sisters soup in the slow cooker, it's nearly ready."

ㅤㅤㅤNew beginnings over a meal cooked from the heart, this is ceremony that will twine Dani and Rahne back together, what will start their healing.

Claws turn to fingernails, and she softens as she turns back into her human form. Her green eyes meet with Dani's bright brown eyes, and she nods softly, acknowledging everything her soul mate was telling her.

"It was never my intention either — I know I am in part responsible for it. I do. I guess… I guess our paths were meant to separate a bit so that we could reunite now."

She is trying to be positive, and she offers a brave smile to her closest friend, resting her forehead to Dani's as the woman's head bows.

She closes her eyes, and relishes the tender moment with the woman she loves more than anyone else — so much that it pains her when they are apart for any reason.

Pride and a sense of being unworthy kept Rahne from trying to mend things earlier, and she regrets that she blinded herself to the possibility of reconciliation for so long, lashing out in anger instead of reaching out with love.

"Next time I tell you to mind your business — don't let me get away with it," she smiles, holding Dani's hands tightly.

ㅤㅤㅤDani's breath catches at Rahne's confession, her eyes widening slowly as the other woman gives voice to all that is unresolved between them. On instinct, Moonstar gathers Rahne's hands between her own, squeezing them tight regardless of fur or claws.

ㅤㅤㅤ"I miss you, too." She says, eyes bright with intensity. "... I never intended to let this distance between us grow so vast."

ㅤㅤㅤI should have done more, Dani thinks. I should have found her sooner, powers or not.

ㅤㅤㅤThese long years since Wolfsbane's departure from the school, the both of them caught up in other teams and personal struggles... All of it could have been so much kinder, if they'd held onto each other.

ㅤㅤㅤ"...You and I..." Moonstar tips his head down, steps closer until their brows are nearly touching, "...we will never be lost to one another, no matter how far apart we are. I believe this."

" Dani... " the touch is so familiar yet foreign, as it has been so long since they were in the same room and within touching range. The lupine mutant softens a little -- she misses her soulmate. When Dani is away from her, it's like a piece of her is missing.

A gaping hole in her heart.

" I'm as okay as I can be, " she responds. She hasn't found Tier, has no closure regarding her son, and she misses Dani so much, all the time. Being on her own is so lonely and isolating. She's a social person, which is enhanced by her lupine traits.

" I miss you, Dani. I miss what we had. I'm... lost without you. " She's been feeling hurt due to the distance between them, and she reckons that it won't be solved unless she expresses her feelings. Pushing Dani away won't bring her close.
