The Gift of Memory’s an Awful Curse

Dean woke up to the sound of his phone ringing. He didn’t even bother to check the caller ID before answering with a groggy “Hello?”

“Dean.” It was Bobby’s voice on the other line. “How you feelin’?”

“Fan-friggin’-tastic.”

“Don’t be a baby,” Bobby chastised. “The guy who drove you to the hospital came by the shop yesterday, told me what the doctor said.” Dean groaned. “You’re not comin’ back in until Thursday, you hear?”

“Come on, Bobby,” Dean protested, rubbing his eyes with a free hand. “Honestly, I’m already feelin’ loads better.”

“Yeah, I can tell,” Bobby deadpanned. “No, you stay at home and get some rest. I can hold the fort for a week.”

“Whatever you say, old man. Hey, have you looked at Ca- at the guy’s car?”

“Barely. But, seein’ as it’s an old Honda, my best guess is valves are bent.” Bobby was quiet for a moment, then, “Dean, the guy told me his name was Cas Novak.”

Dean closed his eyes, silently begging the powers that be to grant him strength. “Weird name.”

Bobby snorted. “So you’re tellin’ me that’s not the same Cas Novak you met at WSU? The same one you brought home for Christmas? Well, that’s mighty strange, considerin’ he looks exactly like —”

“All right, all right,” Dean said. “Yes, it’s him. Why are we talking about this, anyway?”

“Just wonderin’.”

“Is Ellen still comin’ down for Christmas?” Dean asked, hoping to steer the conversation away from Castiel.

“She called this mornin’, said she and Jo’d be here on the 23rd.”

Ellen and Jo were family, mutual friends of John and Bobby. Since Dean could remember, John had been sending him and Sam back home to Lawrence to spend Christmas with Bobby. He didn’t realize until he was older that it was less “go have fun with your Uncle Bobby,” and more “I can’t stand the holidays and would like to be unconscious for most of them.” A few years before his dad died, when Dean was maybe fifteen, the Harvelle’s started joining them. It became a tradition, the Harvelle-Singer-Winchester Christmas affair.

“I can’t wait to see ‘em,” Dean said, smiling up at the ceiling.

“Yeah, well. When’s Sam gettin’ in?”

“Tonight,” Dean replied. He looked at his watch. Was it really already noon? “‘Round eight, I think.”

“Damn, am I excited to see that boy,” Bobby said. “Well, you two head down here when he’s done gettin’ settled. He’s finally old enough to have a few beers.”

Dean rubbed his mouth for a moment. “Bobby,” he said, “he’s not even gonna be here. Well, he is, but he’s hangin’ out with some girl in friggin’ Kansas City after Christmas.”

“Good for him. ‘Bout damn time, too, he hasn’t even mentioned a girl since that Ruby broke his heart when he was sixteen.”

Dean thought he was going to explode. Was he the only one who saw how cosmically wrong this whole thing was?

“Right,” he grumbled. “Well, I gotta go to the store, get some actual food in the house.” Dean pretty much lived off of ham sandwiches and the occasional fast food burger. “I’ll see you later.”

Dean stood up, testing the waters of movement. He didn’t immediately feel like vomiting, and the room didn’t start spinning, both good signs. Turning on the light in the kitchen, he noticed he still had a mild light-sensitivity, but it was nothing he couldn’t handle. Satisfied, he grabbed his keys and the sunglasses Cas had given him, and headed out the door.

As he drove to the Wal-Mart at the edge of town, he wondered idly if he would see Cas again. Dean supposed, at the very least, he might see Cas when he and Bobby had his car fixed. Unless Bobby fixed it before Dean got back to work. He snorted at the thought. That was unlikely.

Thinking about Cas led Dean to thinking about his final days in Wichita, as it always did. He didn’t remember most of that May, or the rest of the year, for that matter. He’d spent the nights drunk and the days endlessly hungover. Dean couldn’t remember going to a single class after his father died in January.

What Dean could remember, what he always remembered, was Cas. Cas waiting for him to return from whatever dorm party he had found, Cas forcing him to drink water, Cas taking his vomit-stained clothes to the laundromat. Cas bandaging his hand after he punched the brick wall of their dorm room one too many times. Cas holding him as he cried.

A honk startled Dean from his thoughts, and he realized he was sitting at a light that had obviously been green for far too long. He sped forward. Maybe he wasn’t okay to drive.

Dean groaned as he pulled into the parking lot. It was packed. He wasn’t sure what he expected — Christmas was little more than a week away. Shit. He had been so busy in the shop that he had forgotten to buy a single gift. Bobby was easy — a fifth of Maker’s Mark and new trucker cap would be enough to bring tears to his eyes. Sam was more difficult; he lived in a different world. Dean thought he remembered that Sam liked Lord of the Rings in high school…

The year before, Dean had written him a check for ten thousand dollars, with “college” written in the memo. Sam had tried to give it back after realizing that was essentially Dean’s entire savings account, built up from working at Singer Auto Repair during the day and bartending the college joints at night. Two years straight. When Dean refused to take it back, saying, “You go and you get a damn degree, all right?”, Sam hugged him until he couldn’t breathe. Dean smiled at the memory. No way he was outdoing himself this year.

Dean picked up the basics from Wal-Mart — eggs, milk, some salad kits for Sam, a couple bags of coffee, some orange juice. He felt like a douchebag, wearing the sunglasses inside, but the fluorescents were unbearable. He grabbed two six-packs of beer to bring to Bobby’s, then surreptitiously added a pack of hard seltzers for his apartment, because, hey, he liked to switch it up.

Dean paid for his groceries and headed to the liquor store to pick up the whiskey for Bobby. Upon seeing a case of boozy eggnog, he couldn’t help remembering his first and only Thanksgiving in Wichita. They downed two pints of the stuff while watching It’s a Wonderful Life. Dean teased that maybe Cas, with his angelic namesake, was his Clarence. Then he fashioned a halo out of toilet paper and they laughed until their ribs hurt.

Dean grabbed a pint at the last second. For good measure.

Sam arrived at Dean’s apartment just after eight, and, Kansas City be damned, Dean was beyond happy to see him. Sam coughed out a laugh as Dean whacked him on the back in the midst of a hug.

“‘S good to see you, Sammy,” Dean said, radiating warmth. “Let’s go, Bobby’s itchin’ to give you a beer.”

Dean let Sam drive the Impala to Bobby’s, peppering him with questions about UT the whole time. Sam gushed about his pre-law classes, which Dean tolerated only because he had just gotten home.

“How’s your head?” Sam asked when he had finished nerding out.

“Fine,” Dean replied. “Fluorescents still make it hurt like a bitch, but honestly, I’m fine.”

Sam turned into the shop parking lot, the windows of Bobby’s apartment above providing the only light against the dark. “Hey, you never really answered my question yesterday.”

“What question?”

“That guy, who drove you to the hospital,” Sam said, carefully. “Was it Cas?”

Dean shut his eyes, willing himself against getting out and slamming the door behind him. He was not looking forward to this conversation. “Yeah. It was Cas.”

“He’s back?”

“No. I don’t know, man, he’s on his way to Kansas City for some big boy job.”

“Did you guys… You know…”

Dean gave him an incredulous look. “What, did we kiss and make up like some Hallmark movie?”

“Dean —”

“Sam, just leave it,” he growled. “Come on. Bobby’s waitin’.” The kid had been home for thirty minutes, and he was already giving Dean a headache.

Bobby greeted them with the biggest smile Dean had ever seen him wear. He pulled Sam into a tearful hug and clapped Dean on the shoulder. The three made their way to the kitchen.

Dean was driving, and still concussed, so he contented himself with a diet Coke and a few slices of the pizza Bobby had ordered while Bobby got beers for Sam and himself. Sam asked how the shop was going, earning about ten minutes of Bobby begrudgingly praising Dean for all his hard work. Dean fidgeted in his seat, face flamed from the compliments, doing his best to insist that it was a team effort, really. Sam beamed at him.

Dean changed the subject, prompting Sam to tell them both about college, despite having already heard the spiel on the drive over. Dean let his mind wander while Sam talked.

Bobby had been the one to call when Dean’s father had died. Dean remembered, it was the Monday after his nineteenth birthday, a snowy January morning. Classes had been cancelled, so he and Cas were watching Dead Poets Society in their room to celebrate.

“Wait, pause it, I gotta take this. Hey, Bobby! How’s it goin’?”

“Dean, I hate to be the one to tell you this. John…”

“Dad? What’s wrong?”

“He’s dead, son. I’m sorry.”

Dean had dropped his cell phone on the floor. It shattered.

Dean remembered emptying his school backpack and filling it with clothes, his toothbrush, some shampoo. He walked straight to the Impala, his hands shaking, tears clouding his vision.

“Dean. Dean! What happened?”

“I gotta go, Cas. I’ll explain everything later.”

“Dean, the roads — we have class!”

“Screw the roads and screw class. Family emergency.”

He’d made it to Lawrence in record time.

He hadn’t even told Bobby he was coming, but he was waiting for Dean anyway. He found out that John had had one too many at the bar that night, but insisted on driving home, anyway. He ran into a tree going sixty, died on impact. Sam had been spending the night with a friend. Bobby drove him down to Amarillo, where John had been working one of his odd-jobs that was sure to dead-end when he started leaving beer bottles on site. Dean didn’t speak the whole way there, not until they picked Sammy up. Sam was crying. Dean wished he could cry, too. He felt like he was going to fracture into a million pieces. But he’d felt that before. Not this bad, never this bad, but broken all the same. He did what he always did. He hugged Sammy tight and told him it was going to be okay, everything is going to be okay.

The next thirty-six hours were spotty. A small funeral, just the three of them. Dean telling Bobby he wasn’t going back to school, he had to take care of Sam. Bobby staring daggers. He’d take care of Sam, Dean would finish that degree if it was the last thing he did. An argument, the only time Bobby had ever yelled at him. Dean and Sam sitting on the couch, sharing headphones and listening to Black Sabbath. Bobby pushing him out the door. Driving back to Wichita, numb.

The painful memory was interrupted when Bobby said his name.

“...We’d love to meet her, right Dean?”

Dean shook his head and blinked. “What?”

“Sam’s girl,” Bobby supplied. Sam blushed, looking at Dean.

“What about her?” Dean grumbled.

“I was gonna bring her around,” Sam said.

Dean wanted to be righteously angry with Sam for not telling him sooner, and for dipping out on him at the first sight of something better. But the kid just looked so damn hopeful.

He let out a long-suffering sigh. “Yeah. Yeah, that’s a good idea. I’d love to meet her.”

They stayed at Bobby’s until midnight, reminiscing about past Christmases, the years Sam and Dean spent under Bobby’s roof. Eventually, Bobby whined about being too old to stay up so late, and that was their cue. Sam was properly tipsy, and Dean was exhausted. They bade each other good night, and Dean and Sam headed home.

Dean didn’t bother putting on music for the fifteen-minute drive. The Impala was silent as Dean drove, watching the yellow streetlights pass.

“Dean,” Sam said, “What’s up with you today?”

He was talking with the level of verve only achievable through alcohol. Dean gripped the steering wheel a little harder. Drunk people always asked too many questions.

“Nothing.”

“No, no, no, man.” Sam waved his hand for emphasis. “You’re messed up. You’ve been messed up. You know what —” he shifted upright in his seat “—you gotta talk to Cas.”

“I’m not gonna do that,” Dean said shortly.

“Why not?” Sam demanded.

“I’m just not, okay? Jesus. You need to go to sleep.”

“Not true,” Sam argued. “Listen, I know that he left or whatever, but I’m sure he had a good reason, you know, and you loved him, Dean —”

Dean slammed on the brakes. The Impala screeched to a halt as the light in front of them turned red.

“What?” He asked in a low voice. “What did you say?”

Sam scoffed at him. “I mean, you weren’t trying to hide it or anything.”

“Sam,” Dean warned. “Stop talking. I mean it.”

“I’m just saying, the way you talked about him, the way you two were at Christmas, I’m pretty sure nothing he could have done —”

Dean punched the steering wheel. The Impala’s horn sounded. Sam looked at him in shock. The light was green. Dean took a deep breath and hit the gas, both hands gripping the wheel for dear life, now.

“We’re done talking about this,” Dean said.

He felt like he was having deja vu. After Cas left school, just after spring break, Bobby had called Dean to see how he was getting on. He’d put Sam on the phone. Sam was only fourteen, but already smart as hell, sometimes able to see through Dean’s bullshit.

“How’s Cas?”

“He’s a shithead, that’s how he is.”

“Dean, what? I thought —”

“Yeah, well, stop thinking. Fucker is gone. Guess he found someplace better to be.”

“What happened?”

“Fuck if I know. But this is the last time I’m talking about that son of a bitch.”

Dean pulled up to his apartment, anger and regret swirling in his head. He shouldn’t have yelled at Sam. He knew that. But Sam — well, sober Sam — knew better than to bring up Cas in any capacity.

Sam exited the Impala silently. Dean’s outburst must have been enough to shatter the alcoholic haze. Dean locked the doors and led Sam up to his door.

“What’s that?” Sam asked.

Dean looked up from fumbling with his keys. There was a brown paper bag taped to his door, his name written on the front in clean, capital letters.

“No clue,” Dean replied, ripping the bag off the door. He unlocked the door and headed straight for the bedroom.

“Dean, come on,” Sam started, but Dean interrupted him.

“We can talk about it in the morning. Get some rest,” he grumbled.

Dean closed the bedroom door and set the bag down on his bed. He took off his jacket. Shed his t-shirt. Unlaced his boots. Splashed some water on his face. Brushed his teeth. Traded his jeans for sweatpants.

Finally, when he could avoid it no longer, he opened the bag.

Inside was… the Tombstone DVD. Dean picked it up, brow furrowed. He opened it, and the disk was there, along with a Starbucks napkin, tucked into the left side. This, too, had his name in that same, clean script. He unfolded the napkin, and read:

DEAN—

I WAS IN THE AREA THIS EVENING, SO I STOPPED BY TO SEE HOW YOU WERE FEELING, BUT YOU WERE OUT. YOU GAVE THIS TO ME IN COLLEGE. IT’S ABOUT TIME I RETURNED IT TO YOU.

IF YOU NEED ANYTHING, FEEL FREE TO CALL.

Cas had written his phone number below the note. Dean frowned as he looked at the DVD once more. That dumbass. Dean had given it to him, it had been a gift. If this was some sort of peace offering, it was crap. He grabbed his phone and punched in the number.

He knew he was being a dick, but, well, Cas had been a dick first. And it was late, anyway. Cas was probably already asleep. He didn’t expect a response tonight. Actually, he didn’t expect any response, at any time. He threw his phone on the pillow and got up to turn out the lights.

Dean flopped into bed, but was surprised to feel his phone buzz.

Apologies. I did not intend to upset you.

Dean squinted in consternation. Why was Cas even awake — wasn’t he some capital-A-adult, now? He was an accountant, with a job at an honest-to-god accounting firm. Shouldn’t he eat his BLT for dinner and be in bed by eight p.m.? Dean snorted at his own mental image.

He didn’t bother to respond, finding nothing more to say. He laid back down in bed, but his thoughts were too loud for sleep. He stared at the ceiling fan. It offered no advice.

Dean sighed. He was pissed. At Sam, at Cas, at himself. Still at his dad, always at his dad. So he did what he always did when he had nowhere to direct the anger.

“You motherfucker,” he whispered to the fan. “You waltz in here, with your college degree and your cushy office job. You drive me to the hospital and pretend you care. Well, guess what, you’re not allowed to care. You left, okay? We were friends, we were… We were family. I needed you, but you didn’t care then. So you can’t care now. You don’t get to come back here and remind me of everything I almost had. Fuck you. In every possible language, fuck you, man.”

The pressure behind his eyes lessened. The anger was still there, still burning beneath the surface, but this was enough for now. A temporary catharsis. A way to keep his sanity. He didn’t believe in God — couldn’t, really, after everything — but this was the closest thing he had to a prayer. He’d started after John died, after he’d realized that burying the guilt and the sadness in alcohol was killing him. When Sam got the scholarship to UT, he’d done it again, voicing the jealousy and fear that he’d never allow himself in the daylight. He didn’t know if it was healthy, but he also didn’t care. It kept him going. He could walk into work every day with a smirk on his face, call Sammy and crack jokes, flirt with female customers after he changed their oil. Screaming into the void kept the “passed-out drunk” nights to a minimum. It kept him from becoming his father.

His only lifeline. He was not, would never be, John Winchester.

The Forgotten: Chapter Seven - Only a Job, Right?

Summary: Barry Berkman couldn’t remember much of his childhood; he knew he used to live in Derry, Maine, but that was about it, besides being taken by his “Uncle Fuches” at age 16 to move to Cleveland, Ohio. Eddie Kaspbrak moved from Derry, Maine to LA, becoming a police officer, surprisingly enough. Normally things were quiet for the most part, besides the occasional drug busts, but it’s when someone named Barry Block enters his line of sight as a possible suspect for the recent string of murders he has to push the feeling of remembrance to investigate. Driving back to the apartment was somehow hard for Eddie, his eyes kept burning like he wanted to cry. God, why did he want to fucking cry? Maybe he did actually mistaken Barry for Richie, maybe he wanted to find his childhood best friend so badly that he was ready to think he was right in front of him. Richie left Derry out of the blue one day when he was sixteen, he didn’t tell anybody he was leaving, not even Beverly, who was basically like his sister. That was really the only thing he remembered about living in Derry, everything else was a blur, like it was a dream that he could barely grasp to remember.

Tonight certainly did open some old wounds; it took years for Eddie to get over Richie. He used to stay up late every night crying silently into his pillow, wondering what went wrong, that maybe he wasn’t happy here anymore and that’s why he left. That… maybe he didn’t make him happy. Those first few nights after Richie left were the worst since he would use to climb in through Eddie’s window at night and they’d just lay in bed together talking quietly to not wake Eddie’s mom, they’d talk about any and everything. Life, how their day went, shit that’s been going on, that kinda stuff while laying next to each other with their hands behind their heads, staring up at the ceiling until they fell asleep. Sometimes Richie would curl up next to him, holding onto him in his sleep while Eddie was just about to pass out. It was sweet, and as much as Eddie wanted to wrap his arms around him and bring him in closer to cuddle with him he stopped himself, assuming that Richie was just doing it in his sleep and didn’t actually mean it.

Just close the case, Eddie, just close the fucking case, he kept repeating to himself over and over, as if that was going to make him change his mind about it. No, he wasn’t actually going to close it, but tonight was extremely upsetting for him. He’d be a liar if he said he didn’t think of quitting his job right then and there, he knew he couldn’t do that though, he needed this job, and how petty would that be? Quitting a job you’ve been in for years just because you thought you saw your best friend after all these years? Eddie shook that thought away, knowing that he couldn’t do that no matter what.

Eddie was slightly shocked when he snapped out of his thoughts to find himself sitting in the parking lot of his apartment complex. He couldn’t really remember anything from point A to point B, all that mattered was that Eddie somehow got home safely. He stared outside the windshield, trying to gather himself so he could force himself to get inside his apartment so he could forget this entire night.

Bouncing his leg and chewing on the inside of his cheek, Eddie looked down at the center console of the car. That couldn’t have been Richie, there was no way… he thought before pulling his wallet out from his front pocket. From behind his ID he pulled out a folded up, wrinkled old photo from his childhood. It was of him and the rest of the Losers Club from the early 90’s; in the picture, Richie had his arm wrapped around Eddie’s neck, a huge smile on his face while Eddie playfully looked grumpy when really all he wanted to do was smile. The photo made Eddie smile, he certainly did miss them so much.

Letting out a shaky sigh and clutching the picture tight, Eddie finally let some of his tears fall. He knew that it wouldn’t be healthy if he kept these feelings bottled up, as he learned that the hard way back all those years ago. When Richie left he refused to talk about it, it even got to the point where he refused to cry about it, somehow blaming Richie for him leaving, saying that it was his own problem, that Eddie didn’t do anything wrong, but all of that just made Eddie irrationally angry all the time. It wasn’t until he went to therapy to learn to let go of all his emotions; his therapist suggested that maybe it wasn’t Richie’s fault, that perhaps he had something going on that he didn’t tell anyone, and she made sure Eddie knew that it certainly wasn’t his own fault that Richie left.

Like a zombie, Eddie pulled himself out of his car, shuffling his way up to his apartment unit, feeling numb emotionally and even physically. He was on autopilot the whole way, using the stairwell to head up to the third floor. The whole time the only thing that was on his mind were sudden memories of his childhood that were flooding back to him out of nowhere.

Sixteen-year-old Eddie Kaspbrak had biked to Richie’s house, they had agreed the night before that he would come over to hang out since Richie had to sneak out of Eddie’s room earlier than usual the night before since Eddie’s mom was trying to come into his locked room. Some stupid bullshit about how he didn’t clean the dishes, so she had assumed that he was sick again and told him that he would be staying in bed for the rest of the weekend. Eddie had been in that rebellious phase of his life, saying that he wasn’t sick and was going to go out. Sonia had been taken aback by his sudden behavior, but didn’t stop him when he left to go see Richie, God, did she hate that loud boy…

Eddie dropped his bike in the usual spot in Richie’s front yard, walking up to the front door while fidgeting with his hands suddenly feeling nervous. Hm… there was a car that Eddie didn’t recognize in Richie’s driveway. Maybe he had people over? Should Eddie leave and come back later? Nah, why would Richie invite him over if he knew people were going to come over?

He knocked on the door, hoping it would be Richie who would open the door, as he wasn’t good around people he didn’t know, especially if it was an extended family member of a friend he’s never met before. The door had swung open, startling Eddie of how aggressive it was. Richie was standing on the other side, not looking too happy, like he was in an argument with someone based on how red his face was.

“Hey, Rich-” Eddie couldn’t even finish his sentence before Richie grabbed his wrist, dragging him behind him as he left the house.

“Where ya goin’, Rich Rich?!” Eddie could hear an unknown voice from inside the house.

Eddie’s eyebrows knitted together at that, wondering what was going on before he got there.

“Do you want me to come back later?”

“No!” Richie said almost too quickly, letting go of Eddie’s wrist as they approached his car that was next to the unknown car, “no… I just…” he shook his head as he trailed off, getting into the drivers side, slamming the door behind him.

“I can-”

“Don’t leave,” Richie said quietly, something unusual for him as he was usually so noisy and vocal.

“You okay, man?” Eddie asked, putting the seat belt on.

“Yeah, I’m…. I’m fine,” he hesitated, putting the keys in the car, “I’m just tired.” He looked over at Eddie, giving him a small smile, but Eddie could tell it was extremely forced.

Richie backed out of the driveway, glaring at someone through the window of his living room that Eddie couldn’t make out, but he didn’t look happy. He flipped whoever it was off before speeding down the road, not saying anything to Eddie, even though it was clear he was in distress.

“What’s goin’ on?”

“Just… bullshit, man.” Richie gave a small laugh, taking a cigarette from his center console, stopping at the stop sign so he could light it. He made sure to roll down the windows so Eddie wouldn’t choke from the smoke from his asthma. “Family.”

“I’m sorry. Are you okay?”

“My… uncle’s in town. He’s an asshole, dude.”

Eddie’s eyes snapped open, hot water falling over him in the shower he didn’t remember getting into, as he was too lost in thought. He was using his arms as support as he was leaning against the front wall of the shower, the memory suddenly made him exhausted, like it took everything from him mentally to remember it. He put a hand on his head, feeling a headache coming on and wasn’t ready to deal with that. There was so much he needed to process about what happened tonight, so much has happened, so many emotions. Goddammit…. He let the shower wash away the tears running down his face, he needed to let out these emotions, even if it was in the shower and kinda had to force it.

he evidence was all there… that Barry was a fucking killer, whether or not he killed Janice, he was still there to do something mallcious, it was clear with the pistol with the supperssor. Fuck, why didn’t he arrest him? He could’ve done so right there with everything piling up against him, the gun… that goddamn gun. Eddie was kicking himself for letting him go, and for what reason? Because he thought Barry looked like Richie Tozier? How would he explain this if Barry did commit a crime? Would he lose his job? Shit.

Burying his face in his hands, Eddie let out a frustrated scream. That seemed to have helped the rage that was quickly starting to build up in his chest, he pinched the bridge of his nose while letting out a sigh. What could he do about this now? As much as he wanted to forget about Barry, he couldn’t now, especially since he found him with a gun.

Remembering the look in Barry’s eyes after Eddie called him Richie… being called Eds after all these years… That was something only Richie called him, nobody else, not even the others in the Losers Club called him that. Now Eddie was just reaching, it wasn’t a hard nickname to come up with, he could’ve just made it up on the spot.

Getting out of the shower, Eddie put on a pair of shorts, keeping a towel wrapped around his shoulders as he headed into the kitchen, sitting at the small table that was kept in the corner. He let out a sigh, resting his hand on his forehead as he looked down at the file he threw down when he got home. Eddie popped a couple of painkillers, feeling the pain crawl up his leg as he looked through the notes within the file for the hundredth time. Squeezing his eyes tight, Eddie slammed his fist on the table over the notes in the file. Why was he doing this? This was literally going nowhere and he needed to give up.

Opening his eyes again, he instantly looked over at the cabin keys that Gene had given him the night before. He never noticed the heart keychain that was attached to it. With a small, sad smile on his face, Eddie reached out and grabbed it, twirling the heart in between his fingers. On the other side of they keychain there was a small picture of Gene and Janice at a restaurant with Gene’s arm wrapped around her as they were both smiling. How sweet…

Eddie knew exactly how to go about this case now.

To clear his head, Barry had drove around for about an hour after the confrontation with Eddie. Richie Tozier. He knew a Richie Tozier, right? The name felt close to Barry, like he was a childhood friend or something. Back in Derry, yeah. Had to be. There was no other explanation for it.

Richie used to call me Eds… Something about that made Barry think, think, and overthink. Yeah, okay, maybe they were all in the same age group and Barry picked it up from him. Perfect, yeah, that had to be it.

Barry couldn’t help it when he slammed the door of the hotel room behind him, startling Fuches who was laying on his pull out bed playing a video game. He looked up at him with a confused look on his face, as he was not at all expecting that.

“You okay?” Fuches asked him, sounding sincere, but whether or not he was was beyond Barry. He was too far into his rage to actually care.

If it could be physically possible, steam would be coming out from Barry’s ears from how angry he was. He stomped over to Fuches, grabbing him by his collar, and yanked him to his feet. The controller fell from Fuches’ hand as Barry pushed him up against the wall with a thud, causing the picture frames to jump from the force.

“What the fuck is-”

“Who the fuck is Richie Tozier?!” Barry demanded before Fuches could speak his demand, digging his knuckles further into his uncle's throat.

It was obvious that Fuches was getting nervous, as he squeezed his hands up in front of him in case Barry tried punching him. It’s been years… how could Barry even remember the name Richie Tozier? Fuches had been certain that Barry lost all memory of that. All of that… for nothing.

“W-w-what are you talkin’ about, Barry?” Fuches stammered, a scared smile on his face, the smile Barry knew all too well. The same one he had whenever he was trying to get himself out of a situation but it wasn’t going well. The smile quickly dropped. “And I thought I told you to take those glasses off.”

Barry was breathing heavily now, clearly not in the mood for his goddamn games. “Who. Is. Richie. Tozier?” He asked again in a slow tone in case Fuches was choosing not to hear him. In all honesty? It freaked Fuches out.

“It… it…” he paused, trying to figure out what to say to get Barry to believe him, “it was a long time ago, Barry.”

“Who is he?”

“It… was a hit.” It was an obvious lie.

Barry knew he wasn’t going to get anywhere with this, so he backed off, feeling his phone buzz in his pocket. He glared at Fuches, who was still pressed against the wall in fear before he took out his phone to read the text he just got in. It was Hank. Fuck, of course it was. Barry literally forgot about the job he was supposed to do up until this moment. Shit.

Couldn’t help but notice job isn’t done yet >:(

Letting out a sigh, Barry texted him back, saying that something came up as he was about to do it, to just keep an eye on the rat and he would get it done ASAP.

“So….” Fuches asked, trying to brighten the mood, a stupid smile on his face, “how’d the job gooo?”

“Fuck you.”

He’s targeting you, Morgan,” Hotchner warned him, eyes set and cold, “and he will not let up until you break.”

“With all due respect, Hotch,” Derek looked up at his superior and pursed his lips, “I will not break.”

“You don’t know that, Derek,” he said, eyes trained on the agent’s face, “I’ve experienced the lengths they will go to. I know what his kind is capable of. You put him away, so he wants his vengeance. And that means starting with whatever you hold dear.”

Morgan stayed silent, crossing his arms and clenching his jaw. He knew what Hotch meant, he understood every word that came out of his mouth, but he didn’t want to come to terms with the fact that it could be true. That meant that Morgan could be one-upped, that he could be beat.

“Has he tried contacting you? Usually this kind of unsub will call, text, or even mail something to you.”

“No, nothing,” Morgan moved forward and sat down in a chair in front of Hotch’s desk.

“Has he tried contacting y/n? Has she told you about anything strange?”

Derek shook his head, swallowing hard. What if he went after her? What was Derek going to do then? What was he supposed to do if he killed her? So help him God, if that man ever laid a finger on y/n, that would be the last thing he ever did.

“Morgan, if any type of contact ever happens, you have to let me know. Until then, we have to find out what we can, see if we can catch him before it’s gotten too far.”

Morgan just nodded, standing from the chair and wishing Hotch a good night. As he left the office, he pulled out his phone and dialed y/n’s number, putting it to his ear and listening to the dial tone. It took a few rings before she finally picked up, and when she did, Morgan let out a breath he didn’t realize he’d been holding, “Hey, baby girl.”

“Hey, handsome,” she said, a smile evident in her voice, “where you at?”

“I’m leavin’,” he said, letting out a sigh, “everything okay at home?”

“Yeah, Clooney is goin’ a little stir crazy without you bein’ around, but, everything’s good. Why, what’s up?”

“I,” Morgan started. He stopped himself when he realized that he couldn’t lie to her, couldn’t keep this from her like that. She needed to know so that if anything were to happen, she could warn him. “I’ll explain it all when I get home. What’d you make for dinner tonight?”

“Your favorite,” she said, giggling a little at something else on her side of the phone.

“Say no more, I’m on my way. See you soon, baby girl. Love you,” he smiled, grabbing his jacket from his chair.

“Love you too, D, get home safe,” she pulled away from the phone and ended the call.

Derek walked down to his car and pressed the unlock button on his keys, climbing in and shutting the door. As he put the key in the ignition and started the engine, buzzing filled his ears. He flipped up the phone and saw the caller ID – just a number with a DC area code.

He silenced the call and shook his head, pulling out of the parking garage and getting lost in his thoughts as he drove home. He couldn’t stop thinking about the unsub – Rodrick Freeman, a serial killer with a demented motive to kill any and all couples who came across his path. In his life, the man had never been able to keep a partner, couldn’t even sustain a relationship to the second date.

This, along with the stressor of losing his last family members, brought him to the idea that the only way for him to get off, to get the attention he felt he deserved, was to kill. He started with older, married couples, then slowly moved his way down the spectrum to people who were practically on their first date.

Morgan was the one who caught him all those years ago. Morgan was the one who tackled him, saved a woman who he was about to shoot, and ultimately stopped him from killing ever again. After that, Freeman was the last thing on Derek’s mind. He met y/n maybe six or seven months later, got with her within the year, and they hadn’t broken up since.

In fact, it got more and more serious. Y/n lived with him, bore an engagement ring on her finger, and was the most important thing in Derek’s life, alongside his sisters and his mom. He cherished that woman with everything in him, and it pained his heart and mind to even think about her being hurt.

He shook his head and pulled into his driveway, turning off the car and heading into the house. He opened the front door, being greeted by his dog at the entrance, and hearing her voice come from the kitchen, “Derek, baby, that you?”

“Yeah, it’s me, sweetheart,” he closed the door and locked it, setting his keys down in the basket and walking into the kitchen to where she was. His arms wrapped around her waist and his chin rested on her shoulder, giving a small kiss to her neck before sighing in content. “How was your day, baby girl?”

“Good, kinda boring,” she answered, scraping at the hamburger meat in the pan, “Kyra bothered Josh about getting together again, Emily wouldn’t stop talking about her mom, Damien and Meg broke up – again. Basically same old, same old.”

“Wait, again? Thought they never got back together,” he said, side of his mouth coming up in confusion.

“So did everyone else in the office, but apparently not,” she turned off the stove and then turned around in his arms, wrapping her own around his neck. “She’s crazy, Der, I swear. And that man is no good for her, and everyone tells her that. But does she listen? Hell no.”

Derek laughed, kissing her lips and shaking his head, “Who would’ve thought that working with paralegals was so… drama filled?”

“Tell me about it,” she rolled her eyes, then let her palms rest on his biceps, “so, tell me about your day. How’s the BAU team?”

Derek felt himself stiffen, and he knew that y/n had noticed as soon as he did. Her eyebrows drew together and her fingers pressed a little into his arms, her own way of showing silent worry. “An unsub resurfaced,” he said quietly, “one that I put away a while ago.”

“Oh?” She was intrigued, still staring up at him with concerned and curious eyes.

“Yeah. He was a rough one. Serial killer that killed any couples he found, no matter how far along they were in their relationship,” he paused, watching the cogs in her head turn.

“Did he have a bad history with relationships? Maybe a guy with a quick temper and no types of attention or love?”

Derek pulled away from her for a moment, walking over to the fridge and grabbing a bottle of water, and offering her a something. She nodded, Derek pulling out her drink and handing it to her before he took a swig of his own. “Exactly that. But, anyway, he started targeting this one couple, showed up to their house. But we saw it coming. We got to the house just after he had, and got in just in time for him to tie them up and, uh, start his torture.

“So, I got in there as fast as I could, tackled him, and got the couple out of there safe. Guy got arrested, sentenced to forty years and after that, I just forgot about him.”

“But, what?” She asked, pushing off the stove and taking a drink of her beverage, “Why is he coming back up?”

“He’s out,” Derek said, looking at y/n with a defeated stare, “and he’s, uh, he’s after me.”

Y/n froze, blinking and starting to shake her head, “I-I don’t, I don’t understand. What do you mean, after you?”

Derek cleared his throat, “He killed someone, left a message for me at the scene. Hotch said that this kind of unsub would do anything to get what he wants, and that’s me.”

Y/n sat back, looking at Derek, then down at the floor, “Goddamn.” Her voice was a whisper, a tone of shock, disbelief, and fear lacing her words. “So,” she swallowed, “so what do we do?”

“Nothing,” he crossed his arms, setting down his water, “we do nothing.”

“Nothing? How can we do nothing, Derek? This man, he’s, he’s after you! We can’t just sit around and wait for him to act on you!” Her chest started heaving, and she looked like she was about to cry, “I can’t just let something like that happen to you, Derek. I can’t lose you because of some son of a bitch like him.”

“Baby, hey,” he pushed off the counter, reaching out and pulling her against his chest. Her hands rested against his shoulders, and Derek felt more helpless than he ever had in that moment. “I won’t let him hurt me. I won’t let him do anything to you, to me, to anyone else, okay beautiful? I won’t let it happen.”

She looked up, “Promise me that, Derek.”

He put his fingers underneath her chin, rubbing his thumb against her cheekbone, “I promise you, baby girl. I promise.”

She nodded, then sighed, wiping at her eyes and then smiling, “Okay, okay. How about we eat?”

Derek nodded, kissing her lips softly, then her forehead. “I could eat.”

The rest of the night, they did their best to avoid the subject. By the time the two were in bed, the conversation was in the back of their minds. Derek held y/n against his bare chest, Clooney at their feet, and they fell asleep.

The next morning, Morgan woke up to a cold side of the bed. He groaned, cracking one eye open and looking toward the bathroom. He could see her in there, standing in her bra and a pair of pants. Her hair was semi-wet, and Derek realized that he loved the sight of her getting ready in the morning. “Baby girl?”

She turned to him, “Morning, handsome. There’s still another couple hours before you have to wake up.”

He turned, looking at the clock beside his bed. There was a few hours until he had to get up, but why was she up this early? “Why you up, then? Don’t you go in later than I do?”

“Oh, yeah,” she put in an earring, looking back at the mirror, “got called in early today. Something about Anders needing a hand with a new employee? Didn’t know we were hiring, but I figured why not, right?”

Derek closed his eyes and nodded, his forearm falling over his face, “Ah, okay. I’m gonna go back to sleep, baby. Let me know when you leave?”

“Yeah,” she said. Derek fell back to sleep, waking up a little bit later to her kissing his forehead and wishing him a good day. “Love you, be safe.”

He mumbled back an I love you, too before he went back into his slumber. And, for the last time, he woke up to his alarm going off. He pulled out of bed, rubbing at his chest and stretching out his arms before going through his morning routine, and leaving for work.

His day went by like a blur, beginning in DC and ending in DC, filled with paperwork and random facts from Reid about various Russian historical practices and facilities. As he left the building, calling y/n and checking in with her (like he always did), and heading down to his car, he got a call from the same number as yesterday.

His brows furrowed at the number on the screen, so he answered it, “Hello?”

“Derek,” a man’s voice came into his ear, “SSA Derek Morgan. How are you, old friend?”

Derek looked around him, “Who is this?”

“Who do you think?”

“Freeman,” his jaw clenched, and he let out an angry breath. “What the hell do you want?”

“It’s not about what I want, Morgan. It’s about who,” Morgan could hear the sadistic smile in his voice.

Morgan stayed silent, choosing to listen to the man.

“That who, Morgan. She’s beautiful, wouldn’t you agree?”

“No, no, you stay away from her, you hear me? Stay away,” Morgan gripped the phone tighter, climbing into his car and starting the engine.

“I haven’t done anything yet, Derek,” he spoke. “But, rest assured, I will. If this is the reaction I get by even mentioning her, man, what would happen if I actually touched her? If I made her–”

“Stop. Don’t you say another goddamn word, you son of a bitch,” Morgan was angry. Furious. He couldn’t contain the emotions, couldn’t keep himself calm, “You stay the hell away from her, stay the hell away from me.”

The line went dead as soon as Derek’s sentence ended, and he let out a grunt as he threw his phone into the passenger seat. He raced home, whipping into the driveway and practically jogging to the door. It was opened, slightly ajar, and that sent Derek’s heart soaring. His hand went to his gun, pulling it from the clip and raising it.

He walked in, “Y/n? Baby, you here?”

“Derek? That you?” He heard her voice, traveling from their bedroom upstairs. His eyebrows furrowed and he ran up the stairs, looking down the hallway and seeing their bedroom door open.

He walked quickly to the room, gun pointed upward. As he walked in, he saw her standing by the bed, laundry in her hands. She was folding a pair of her shorts, and she almost screamed whenever she looked up to see his gun. “Derek, woah, it’s just me. Put the gun down, baby.”

Derek sighed, placing the gun back in its holster and looking back up at her, “Why’s the front door open?”

“Open? I don’t know,” she let the shorts fall from her hands and land on the bed. “I didn’t hear anything in the house. I’m okay.”

Rubbing his hand across his face, he shook his head and laid on the bed in front of him. He looked up at the ceiling, and whispered, “Y/n, I’m scared.” It was like admitting a fault, a sin, but he couldn’t help it. He had to be honest with her, honest with himself. He was beyond terrified that Freeman was going to do something to her.

“Derek, talk to me,” she said, putting down the laundry and sitting beside him on the bed.

“This unsub, y/n,” he sighed, “he– he’s taunting me. He’s taunting me with you, and I don’t know what to do.”

“Hey, look at me, Derek,” she gently turned his chin to her, “look at me. I’m okay, I’m right here, and I’m okay.”

Derek nodded, pulling her to his chest and pressing a kiss to her forehead. There were a few moments of silence, tense yet comforting silence, before she let out a sigh and said, “Now, you wanna help me with this laundry?”

Laughing, he nodded and then remembered the door downstairs, “Two seconds. Let me go get the door, I’ll be right back.”

Pulling himself up from the bed, he smiled as her hand slid away from his chest and he walked downstairs. Clooney greeted him at the base of the stairs and he gave a quick scratch to the dog’s ears before looking back up at the door.

It was closed.

1. Femme or butch?

for type, im vry easily wooed by butches tbh

as for myself, im genderfluid + heavily lean towards butch-ish for one gender + have been gettin more comf w that term for myself. the 3 genders i switch between, ive described as sharp, dainty and tired, for reason of not really being comf w gender labels aside from nonbinary. sharp/tired r kinda butchish, moreso sharp. like leather jackets, ripped jeans, dress pants/shirts, defs flannels (which r a given for any mood im in tbh) while tired is like mb softer, more focused on flannels + loose tank tops/shirts, shorts + certain skirts, comfy clothes, and the like

ive found that i’m leaning more towards butch lately too, like i’ve been a lot more comfortable with pants and a nice top than i have w dresses or most skirts + im wondering if i was just hanging on to femininity for sake of society, so those r things 2 think abt. i still feel comf in them sometimes, but it’s getting much less often. gender’s weird, i still cant cling to one bc of how pressuring that is so genderfluidity is still smth for me + it shifting to different percentages is okay (im thinking out loud @ this point, but its helping so i hope its interesting to read)

5. Describe your aesthetic

aaahh theres a lot of diff aesthetics i could go into, but i have a tag if ur interested in a visual representation? basically, cosy homes, forests, wooden steps and bridges, cats, girls/nbs, water, plants, and old video game stuff, and clouds/skies. i’m sure there’s more in there, but for a good rule of thumb !! as for like dressing aesthetic, i like to look rly gay + attractive and a lil showy? like my shorts r Short and i love crop tops + a lot of my shirts show my bra thru them, + i like showing it when i can, like sports bra + a tank top is a fav look of mine bc i can make it look like my bra is a trim on the shirt + it’s cute. i’ve been wearing dresses less often, but occasionally, i like to rock one. id love a pair of combat boots but i have like size 11/12 feet + most stores dont carry that size + im hesitant to buy some online.

7. Favorite pair of shoes?

its rly hard to find any, i have like walmart converse knockoffs atm + theyre a beige/grey color im not that huge on, it kinda reminds me of sandalwood but depressed

9. Any haircut goals for the future?

there was the undercut!! and i have that down now c: next step is to dye it blue and mb some purple. i wanna bleach it if i’m gonna dye it, but im hesitant to do that bc of how damaging it is, but since my hair’s been cut a cpl time almost all the color is out now, so i think itll b ok if i take good care of it.

11. Describe the worst date you’ve been on

i went to a cafe w someone (i think they were nb but i cant remember, it was like 2 yrs ago about ) and they were impossible to talk to bc they just kept saying “im awkward sorry” @ everything and like any conversations i tried to maintain were all one-shot responses, and like that was a lil frustrating. like i dont hold it against them or anything, more in a sense of i was rly tryin 2 carry it and just couldnt

hmmmm i havent thought much about it !! i know when i was younger i wanted to wear a black wedding dress but now im thinkin mb a suit that switches to dress @ the bottom?? that could b cool. I’d be happy w anything tbh, if im getting married, i’d just b happy to be w my wife/spouse. mb somewhere in a forest or on a boat would b cool, defs lots of good food and colorful flowers. I’d like a lot of color, most weddings ive been to are just b/w and bland for my taste (they’ve also all been straight tho so theres that.) it’s kind of wild to think that i might b married someday, but it’d b rly nice. i just haven’t thought much abt the planning of one. it’d b rly gay tho, probs give out tiny gay flags at each seat, and the cake could b lesbian flag colors. im rly drawing a blank on this, but i know id want all my friends around the country + world to be there.

17. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?

i definitely want to live in a port town at some point !! idk where i’d like to settle down, ideally somewhere that doesnt get much hotter than 90 degrees + has lots of parks + is big enough for some events, like pride stuff, little festivals, a farmer’s market, and places to do things, such as a movie theater, bowling alley, mb an aquarium, if not one in a nearby town. hiking trails r also good.

19. Favorite lesbian novel/story?

on a sunbeam!!! its a huge inspiration for me, and i love it so much. it always puts me in such a good mindset when i read it, and the artist is my age, so it makes me feel like I can also accomplish great things if i rly put my heart into it!! which is such a good feeling, and it has great representation + characters that i love, and its rly gay, and in space and theres ships shaped like fish + its gorgeous : D i could go on for hrs abt it + how important it is to me. theres an nb character too, and like the aspect of found families is one that rly hits home and it helped me get thru a rough time of my life + better accept myself as queer/gay.

i think so, but i can’t place when, it’s been a bit.

25. Be positive! What do you like most about being a lesbian?

talking abt being gay w other girls/nbs is lovely and cathartic, i never got to growing up bc i lived in a homophobic town + i was like dealing heavily with internalized homophobia and body/gender dysphoria so i was ace for a bit. talking more abt like sexual attraction + aesthetic attraction is new to me, and that’s been a process to get to, but it’s nice that I can now do so w/o being belittled or barraged by insult. i also just love the thought of being w someone, and daydreaming abt when that happens is really nice. also,, girls + nbs r a blessing and brighten my day and im so glad im attracted 2 them

27. Turn ons?

absolutely communication, that’s a need. i had a bad experience w someone bc she wasn’t communicative at all, and failed to tell me that we weren’t dating despite us going on several dates + kissing??? like i wont go too into it, but hatchi matchi it was a mess. so yeah, communication, affection, and like reassurance that they actually want to be with me, and that my presence is wanted and enjoyed. I got a lot of “i dont care”s for answers last sort-of relationship, and that was rly discouraging. another turn on is for them to initiate talking and things, like holding hands or planning to hang out + such. consent is another big one.

29. Do you usually ask other women out or do you wait for them to ask you?

i usually tend to ask them out, but im still dealing w internalized junk, so its difficult. i also havent any situations in which they liked me back, which is frustrating. like i got lead on earlier summer for abt a month until i asked what we were doing + didnt rly get an answer, and it was this whole mess. i generally try to make the first move tho, bc i know firsthand how difficult it is, but that being said, it’s still hard for me to know for sure if theyre interested + i dont wanna make things uncomf w them, so i’ll wait until i think there might b attraction. that being said, once that’s all out of the way, i like to consider myself a good flirt when im trying.

31. Talk about your interests or hobbies!

i have lots of interests!! im obsessed w steven universe, its my fav show (and if u ever have time, we should totally watch it together sometime, i rly think you’d love it, it’s super gay + heartwarming.) i really love playing music and learning new songs, which im rly great at memorizing. talking to friends + gettin 2 know them better is always nice and fun. i like to draw new things + see the different ways ppl draw, so seeing art on here is always fun for me. i’m also rly into polygon videos (it’s a youtube channel, not like videos abt polygon haha) and this podcast called the adventure zone. season one just ended, so i might start listening to another one called friends at the table. i rly wanna start a podcast w someone, but can never find anyone to start it with. idk what I’d talk abt but if i could find a partner for it, i think it’d be a lot of fun. mb smth abt games or books/queer representation in media. doing a dnd podcast would also b rly fun, but a lot of work + editing so mb later down the road !! im blanking on other interests atm, but animations and cartoons r lovely and i aim to make something in that field one day, if not just a comic.

Hello to all!!! It’s been a crazy few months and I haven’t had the time to really go on Tumblr much less post about everything going on in my life but i am going to today!!

I’m currently finishing up my senior year of high school and lemme tell u - it’s been wild!!! But so fun. This last Relay for Life was probably my favorite one yet & I wish I could just have one more. When I went my freshman & sophomore year I was still so, so shy and only talked to people I already knew. This year, though, I talked to the new speech & debate kids and they were some of the sweetest people I have met in high school!! I always get so nostalgic for speech and debate when I am around the newer kids in the club. I can’t lie - being in that club was the only time throughout my whole high school experience that I felt as though I was a part of something good. I quit because it did stress me out a bit and I wanted to join photography my sophomore year and just always kind of found an excuse not to go back after that (even though I always knew I should’ve). Prom was nice - we ate at the Venetian and danced our lil hearts out at Panis Hall. I felt moderately pretty. I got into an argument with my best friend, Vincent, that night - he’s been a real dick lately & I couldn’t put up w it anymore that night in the Red Rock parking lot!!! I have been holding a few grudges against him since then but this weekend I have gotten some time to think it over for the first time & I think I’ve made my peace with him!! After prom was the Disney trip - which has been a WILD ride for a few months now. There was a lot of fishy business going on w the stuco advisor but finally - LITERALLY 10 MINUTES BEFORE THE BUS LEFT - I got a seat on the bus!!!! I wasn’t ready at all because I didn’t want to pack a bunch & get excited just to end up having to go to math that day - but I had such a good time in my bummy school clothes & 2 best friends!!! Even if I didn’t get to take pictures and we didn’t get to finish exploring California adventure because we were all grumpy and tired. The bus ride with Vincent was so fun and I didn’t really think about all the things I was upset at him for. On the 24th, then, we had grad walk AND senior awards!! I did the travel grad walk with Ni-Ni and we got to go to our elementary and middle schools + pat diskin in our caps and gowns with all the current students lining the halls cheering us on!! It was so pure. The elementary schoolers were so so so cute n proud of us & it was the first time it rly set in that this is happening!!! Plus I saw my 4th grade teacher and she remembered me BY NAME. I foreal cried on the way back to the bus bc of it. Awards night was nice too - I sat next to a kid I hadn’t talked to since middle school but it wasn’t awkward and we made jokes to each other all night!! It was kinda cute. Like it really felt like we were all in this together. I luvvvved cheering on my friends & just other kids in my classes who I may not talk to much but it still feels like we’re on the same boat supporting each other!! I got my Ronald Mcdonald award that night + my hispanic educator award (two scholarships totaling $1500!!!!) I also have to go to a HUGE district wide ceremony & read part of the speech that won me the hispanic educator award the day after graduation!! Yikes but I’m excited. I think that’s basically all the senior events left except maybe the senior bbq??? But that’s not a big deal. I’m not sure if there’s a senior sunset and I know I posted about being upset that I didn’t go to senior sunrise but on the bus ride home from Disney, I woke up for a split second and saw the sunrise over the California desert with my best friend sleepin next to me, his arm latched onto mine & maybe that’s enough.

BUT YEAH. IM FUCKING GRADUATING. My checkout card is signed !! My 7th grade english teacher who i am super close to has her flight booked !!! Can u believe it!!

Work-wise, I was having a really hard time for a while. I was desperately looking for another job & was about to transfer because the theatre made me want to kill myself!!! My exs friends and my managers were talking so so so much shit abt me. They said some of the worst things they couldve possibly said about me - and were so condescending at a time where i was extremely insecure because i was hung up over a boy that treated me like shit & had just lost so many friends. I couldnt even imagine staying until summer - but the universe helped me out and made it so that 2 of my most condescending managers transferred & i stopped getting scheduled so much with my exs friends and things just got… better. I stopped crying everyday - or any day - at work and actually turned down an interview because i figured id just wait until july to look for another job (thats how long im required to stay at my current to qualify for a 10k dollar scholarship i think i have a good shot at getting!!). I dont feel trapped and dread going to work anymore anymore and its so so so relieving. For a second there, it really had such a strong hold on my life and im so glad thats over. It was not healthy at ALL

Driving wise - ive been driving a lil bit a few days a week now and im really enjoying it !! It is not as scary as i thought itd be. I still have a lot to learn but i think im doin pretty good + i have 3k saved up for a car & im so excited !!!

This summer is also gna be super fun - im gna throw so many parties bc all of my bffs are leavin im august for college + spend a week explorin LA w my sister which im so excited abt !!! Im super broke atm bc i had to borrow a bunch of money from my mom for grade nite & am trying to pay it back asap but hopefully any grad money will be enough to cover it so i can buy books n cute knick knacks freely while im on vacay!! Especially since my body decided to hit a second fuckin puberty this winter & none of my summer clothes fit me anymore :( ive been dressing so bummy lately bc of it but ive been too busy to care. I gotta get clothes b4 going to LA tho!!! Other than that though i really just want this summer to be abt me. I feel like even tho i KNOW i need time to myself, i always try to get the most out of literally ANY possible relationship in my life :( its such a bad thing but i hate passing up opportunities like that bc what if, u know? To love and be loved in return is what I always thought i wanted most in this world!!! But i think i just need to consider where situations like this are really going before i compromise the time i set aside to work on myself for it. SO unless i can really see something going somewhere, this summer is goin to be about reading, writing, filming, and taking care of myself !!! I want to eat better (vegetarian & vegan whenever possible!!) and exercise and take care of my skin and just get shit done in general (maybe learn to knit finally???) Im even gonna start a bullet journal!!! I think it will help keep me feelin like myself as well as stay productive & organized in college + its just such a cute hobby Not to mention my sister is ENGAGED?????? My BEST FRIEND IN THE ENTIRE WORLD!!! I will save the sappy stuff for later posts/my maid of honor speech but she really deserves this more than anyone. It hurts to see her movin out after 18 years of sleepin 10 feet away from her - if it were any earlier than this i wouldnt have been able to handle it - but im excited to be independent & im sure we’ll be sendin each other funny memes and visiting each other 24/7!! She is my best friend after all, and im just so happy to see her happy that i cant even be that sad abt losing our early morning laughs and late night talks - at least not yet!! Maybe it just hasnt set in yet
