Rules: list eight shows for your followers to get to know you better.
Tagged by @aeide and @forsty, thank you! ❤️
1. Parks and Recreation. this is my failsafe, go to, never lets me down comfort show. beyond its genuine humour and charm, i’ve always loved p&r because, at it’s core, it’s about one women doggedly refusing to give up on her dreams and her desire to do good in the world. its tropey and silly and self referential without ever being mean or so over the top with the characters that they don’t feel tangible and fully formed in the world they live in. i love this show. the first season doesn’t exist tho.
2. Fleabag. genuinely one of the best tv shows ever made and i will fight anyone who says otherwise. it is just SO GOOD as a rumination on love and loss and grief and what the fuck do you do if you don’t really like the person you are. fleabag and claire’s relationship is so special to me (because deep down i am claire.) idk i’ve seen this marketed as a comedy show and while it has jokes its so, so, so much deeper than that. and it doesn’t overstay its welcome either. please watch fleabag i beg.
3. Black Sails. LOOK. i am not immune to filthy emotionally complex sometimes-horny pirates pushing against a society and a system that they never had a place in. i cannot be blind to the rich historical setting and love that always sits on the line of hate. people willing to die for things that were so fucking real to them, and things that never were to anyone else. man titties. A+ no notes.
4. Arcane. i’m a sucker for good animation and this show is so b e a u t i f u l. i’m also so soft for fucked up father relationships and BOY does this show have ‘em in spades. also sevika and her big beefy arms (arm technically i guess?)
5. Top Gear. don’t really advertise the fact that i’m a motorsports/car fan on here but top gear played a huge part in that growing up. the old series with the og three is another comfort show, particularly the specials. i do watch new TG with chris/paddy/freddie but it isn’t the same.
6. Ted Lasso. hate football, love this show with a burning passion. a gaggle of himbos, bad puns, and hannah waddingham. it’s perfection.
7. The Orville. i watched a lot of star trek growing up and i’ve found myself really loving the orville for capturing some of that classic sci-fi, episodic adventure magic. its a weird show to watch from the first series (it starts very much like seth macfarlane wrote it as a seth macfarlane show to get it greenlit) before the reins loosen a bit and it really hits its stride. the last series was just so fucking good with how it used common sci-fi tropes to look at modern day issues like trans acceptance and self identity. it’s a gem of a show and i wish more people would watch it honestly.
8. Santa Clarita Diet. STILL SO MAD NETFLIX CANCELLED THIS WHAT THE FUCK MAN. it was so absurd and so funny, a show i didn’t think i’d like at all reading the premise and was instantly hooked. timothy olyphant as a man who really loves his wife but desperately need to smoke some weed is just such perfect casting. man i need to rewatch this show.
Omitting the tags bc the social anxiety has me gripped today but don’t let me stop you from having a good time beloveds.

A very specific nitpick I have with 'Megamind vs. The Doom Syndicate'
I don't do text posts here very often. This feels odd, let's just get on with it.
I was originally going to write down a full-on review expressing my utter disappointment and disgust dislike towards the horrible and cheap "sequel" to my favorite Dreamworks movie, Megamind. A sequel which, by now, we all know was nothing but a glorified extended pilot for a Peacock series that I have not watched, but it honestly looks just as mediocre, so I have no current plans to.
Hoooowever, I have since seen many reviews of this "movie", most of which have been able to express my feelings and thoughts pretty well. So it felt like I didn't have much else to contribute to the discourse.
Except for one thing that I have not seen anyone talk about (or maybe they have talked about it and I just haven't seen it), and it was one of the things that bothered me most about the film. So this post's entire purpose is to publicly point it out.
Tumblr media
No, I'm not talking about Keiko herself (although yes, she was my least favorite character and completely ruined the movie and this franchise for me thanks for asking). It's more the purpose of her character.
You see, and allow me to put my cranky old lady pants for just a moment, I believe most people have been able to guess that the entire reason this character was put into the movie was to be a target audience insert. So the 8 to 12 year-olds watching can go "Hey! This character is around my age and has the same interest as me! I'll keep watching for her!" (Do no ask me how well that's going because I personally do not find the excecution of it all that great, but I digress). And although, as a more mature viewer and long-time follower of the franchise, this does feel a bit annoying, having this kind of character when you're trying to appeal to a new audience is, technically speaking, not a bad thing in itself. And when executed well, this can totally work.
But here's the problem.
It makes no sense for a character like this to form part of Megamind's story.
You see, my friends, for those of you who have not seen this movie (which, for your own good, I sincerely hope is the majority of people who are reading this), "Megamind vs. The Doom Syndicate" is VERY explicitly supposed to take place two days after the events of the first movie.
Just two days.
This is explicitly said at least two or three times in the first act of the movie alone (I value my sanity too much to rewatch the film to double-check that fact, but I'm fairly confident in that).
If you all remember, the masterpiece known as the original Megamind movie came out in 2010. Therefore, the most logical thing to assume is that the events of the film itself also take place in 2010, if not before that, right? It's never explicitly stated, but since there is nothing that confirms or denies this, I think it's the default assumption we as an audience should make.
Now, I did not own my first cellphone until the year 2012 when I turned 13 (don't make fun of me for that fact), so, correct me if I'm wrong. But I don't think in 2010, we were seeing thing such as:
Smartphones like the one Keiko has throughout the film,
People using said smartphones to make livestreams in which people leave likes and comments in real time,
Kids who are content creators gaining half a million subscribers in TWO LITERAL DAYS (I cannot stress this enough) by getting information and newsflashes from goodness-knows-where,
App equivalents to TikTok and Instagram with as much popularity as we saw in this,
And overall, just social media getting the same treatment and functioning the same in 2010 as it does in 2024.
I mean yes, in 2010, things such as the ones I listed above were probably beginning to take popularity and to become a thing. But they surely weren't as well-established as they're being presented to us in Megamind "2".
This cheapquel "sequel" is suppossed to be only two days after the first one, and yet, everything that revolves around THIS KID'S existence suggests to us that we're in the 2020's era of internet, influencers, and social media. Heck, the earliest I could buy any of this believably happening is like, 2018. 2015 as a stretch.
We went from 2010 to (at least) 2015 in two stinkin' days.
No sense whatsoever.
Tumblr media
Logically speaking, there's no way TikTok Childstar Keiko was even born in the year the first Megamind took place. Like, her birth year is 2011 at the earliest, and you can't convince me otherwise. Why do you even exist two days after Megamind was renowned as the hero of Metrocity? Please go back to the womb.
(That got personal, sorry. This kid gets too much on my nerves)
"Well, TECHNICALLY since it's never stated when the first Megamind took place, nothing's stopping them from making it so that it's been 2024 all along"
If that seriously does not sound like gaslighting your audience in order to force "hip" references that resonate with the kids watching almost a decade and a half after the original film came out to you, then I don't know what does. I don't even care if "you're not suppossed to think too hard about it" (which is a lame excuse for lazy writing btw), just watching both movies back-to-back, the tonal differences and any chronological references just clash way too much for me to buy this as a legitimate follow-up taking place in the same universe, same city, and even same week.
So yes, "Megamind vs The Doom Syndicate" sucks, and the inclusion of this character and this anachronistic plotline, for me, is a huge reason why. It's insulting to the audience and a clearly desperate attempt to appeal to a new generation of kids that frankly, if Megamind had gotten a genuinely good sequel, they would've liked it all the same, even if it didn't include a 12-year-old TikTok influencer with a half-baked personality and forced role in the story. Because seriously, don't even get me STARTED on how forced her joining the gang felt, holy crap. 😓 But that's a tangent for another day. Maybe. Maybe not. Maybe I'll just leave this meme here and move on.
Tumblr media
This was, of course, only one of many flaws this movie had, but I feel like other people have ranted enough about how the writing, character portrayals, poor animation, bad humor, and lame attempts at world-building did the original Megamind dirty.
Here's hoping one day Dreamworks wakes up, thinks smart, and decides to give us the Megamind 2 we deserve, so we can all happily toss this... project, into the realm of non-canon media, where it belongs.

TAG PEOPLE YOU'D LIKE TO KNOW BETTER!
tagged by: @irrwicht
tagging: @formorethananame, @luneblush, @temporalobjects, @weedzkiller, @r4bidog, @hishedonism, @mxldito, @ovilis, @vienrose, @unavernales, @dozenrozez, @frxgmcnts, @finalsurvivorgrp, @caelcstis, @dcrkfcngs
Tumblr media
favorite color(s): Red, purple, but I like all colors
favorite flavor(s): I have a huge sweet tooth, so I'd say chocolate and also fruity flavors like bananas and strawberries.
favorite music: Honestly, I think I can say that I listen mostly everything. I've come to the conclusion that I don't really care about the genre, if I like a song, I like it and that's about it. And that's why my playlist is a mess, especially when I put it on shuffle lmao
favorite movie(s): It's so hard to pick, there are so many good ones! But I recently watched Tokyo Godfathers, that one automatically jumped in my top favourites. I also really liked Grave of Fireflies (even though it's quite a heavy movie), Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, The Handmaiden (let's go lesbians, let's go), Perfect Blue, Everything Everywhere All At Once, The Jigsaw franchise (and honestly, I think the 10th movie might be my favourite), The Fear Street Trilogy, Coraline, What We Do In The Shadows, Train To Busan
Honorable mentions: I think Gremlins is starting to grow on me, especially the second movie because I love that the production team didn't take it all too seriously, I do like when some movies are self-aware how silly they actually are. Also shoutout to The Sadness. Am I ever going to watch that movie ever again? Probably not, it was a very disturbing movie. But this is not your usual zombie movie, if I can even call it a zombie movie, which surprised me? Like, it definitely does have those elements of the apocalyptic zombie genre but turned it completely over its head by making the infected actually aware of the things they're doing but not being able to stop it. Again, it is a disturbing movie, it's not for everybody. I personally don't see myself watching it twice. Plus, finding out that the director has said something like that he wanted to focus more on the "fun and the gore" other than anything else in a Q&A did sound quite sussy to me given the heavy topics and the ways the movie could be interpreted. Idk, as philology and literature major it just keeps getting confirmed to me that most, if not all works of art, no matter in what form, have something to say and they deeply reflect the time in which they were created, and there's always the subjectivity of the viewer who interprets it in their own way (like hell, even the superheroes in movies these days most likely take a whole lot of inspiration from Greek mythology, if you really think about it). Some people have mentioned that the director might have answered the way that he did as to not stir up controversy since it was at a festival, but I can't say for sure, I wasn't there to see the interview myself and this is already getting really long so I will stop now, you can make your own conclusions.
favorite series: Courage the cowardly dog, The Scooby-Doo franchise, Are You Afraid Of The Dark (I'm talking about the 90's series, I haven't watched the 2019 revival). Do I remember anything from them? Kind of, it's been a very long time since I've watched them. I kind of want to rewatch them because of it. But they sparked my interest in all things spooky when I was a kid so I feel like they deserve a place here. Some of my other favourites include: The Untamed, Serial Experiments Lain, Steins;Gate, Semantic Error, Another, My Roommate is a Detective, Wellington Paranormal, What We Do In The Shadows, Hellbound and Sweet Home (I do recommend reading the webtoons of those two, though), Death Parade, The Silent Sea, Color Rush, Squid Game, My Beautiful Man, Good Omens, Our Flag Means Death, Alice on Borderland, My Name, Yellowjackets, Theatre of Darkness: Yamishibai
last song: Ruler Of My Heart by BL8M & Rubyeye & Unknown (Till The End) by AKUGETSU (Alien Stage OSTs) (tw for blood and a bit of gory imagery in the MVs for anyone who wants to check them out). Also can I also just talk about the 1st Anniversary Remixes of those two songs too!!! (here and here, audio only). Just *cheff's kiss*, I love those songs so much, I want to eat them. The story all these animations is quite interesting, the animations themselves are very well done too. How can I describe it. The story kind of takes that deadly game trope (like, let's say in the Hunger Games and Alice in Borderland), but make it about people being forced to be in a singing competition against each other to survive and they are being judged by aliens. From what I know, I could be wrong, the main way of storytelling is through the MVs on the VIVINOS YT channel so it does require a bit to analyze (there is a bit of a additional info on the official website and on the wiki, I'm sure), so if any of that sound interest you, I would recommend checking it out
last series: Choco Milk Shake
last movie: The Cat Returns
currently reading: So Long, And Thank for All The Fish from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy books. I'm so happy of how much progress I've done on reading those books compiled in one huge book, I'm halfway through the series now. And honestly I want to read it for as long as I can because I really enjoy it, it's so fun, I love the absurd situation the main characters fall into while the big question of the meaning of life, the Universe and everything looms over them. This would definitely go in one of my top books I've read I'm sure.
And I also have to mention the webtoons that I'm reading because I love them very much too: Hand Jumper, The Blind Prince, Lore Olympus, Zombie X Slasher (I don't know in what kind of direction this one would go, but so far so good!), Everything is Fine, Flawed Almighty, Homesick (I love love LOVE this one! The art style and everything is great), Never Ending Darling (I know that it's gonna end in like 2 days officially once the last episode is available to read for free, but damn, what a ride this was. The concept of this webtoon is terrifying), Omniscient Reader, My S-Class Hunters, ZOMGAN (also quite an interesting and honestly refreshing way of making a story about zombies), Nocturne and The Guy Upstairs
And special highlight to: There Are No Demons. This webtoon? An absolute nightmare fuel. I find it very interesting that the artist Nemo Nullus makes 3D models first and then draws over them. I wasn't so sure how to feel like it when I first saw it, this was the first time I've seen anything like it on webtoon, but I quickly grew to like this art style, the kind of weird realism and uncanny valley really add to the stories. And the stories themselves are very scary because these are things that could actually happen, and have most likely happened in real life too, especially that first story with the stalker. This webtoon has made me feel things no other horror/thriller webtoon has made me feel, I feel like I want to crawl out of my own body when I'm reading it, really.
currently watching: Nothing in particular, just random YT videos. I do have some shows to catch up on that I already mentioned here.
currently working on: Mostly focusing on studying a bit more for my exam on monday. But once I'm done I'll be back to doing more stuff here, hopefully ❤️

how long have you been a fan of iasip and how long on sunnyblr? do you know who here has been around for a long time? how has the fandom developed and changed from your perspective? has it always been so reddit-oriented? what have the main opinions (general consensus kinda shit) been in your eyes? were you into macdennis right from the start? did the fandom always follow rcg so closely or is that only after the podcast? sorry for asking so much, just interested in the history of this space
Step into my office Anon. Let me regale you the tale of Sunnyblr from the days of yore. Or whatever.
Me personally, I started watching Sunny in late summer 2019 (tragically I had just missed the fake MacDennis script panic of July 2019). My friends had it on when I went to their house and we didn't have anything else to do, so we just watched like a shitton of episodes that day and I was like hold fuck on this scratches something in my brain. I didn't start poking around on the Sunny side of tumblr until possibly a week later? I think. Basically in my skipping around Sunny episodes I was starting to pick up the vibes Mac and Dennis were putting down and as a joke I was like hmm what if I just take a look at the ao3 tag ahaha jk unless. And that was the beginning of the end. I'm not sure if I checked out the Sunny tag on tumblr first or the MacDennis tag but literally at that time it didn't matter. Sunnyblr was essentially MacDennisblr. Tumblr didn't get me into MacDennis but it definitely accelerated my hyperfixation with them This was all pre-s14 at this point for reference.
Honestly, not many people remain from that time or even before. I remember some folks I had followed reminiscing about post-s12, wondering if Dennis was coming back, or if he turned into the bar. Idk man I'm so glad I didn't have to deal with not knowing if Dennis was coming back like that would've been too much for me.
But 2019 Sunnyblr, and this may just be the nostalgia talking, but man it was magical. The gif sets, the meta breakdowns of episodes, the macdennis posts--god we were eating GOOD. It felt like one giant group chat in the best way. And then The Gang Gets Romantic happens an we were absolutely FERAL. Okay? Like picture Nov 5th but on a way smaller scale. But that was the energy, okay?
But then, tragedy struck in the form of Dee Day. That, for me was kinda the beginning of the end of that version of Sunnyblr. A lot of people were pissed. The glass shelves we had propped RCG and Megan Ganz up on had shattered. A decent amount of people left right then and there. But those who stayed were holding out for something -- a better apology from them regarding the brownface for one. And that...didn't happen (I don't want to speak more on this bc like...look I'll be real with you, I stuck my head in the sand on this one. But people had a right to be hurt by that episode and to this day I haven't rewatched it since it aired). But we trudged along. Bc it's "satire" and these are "bad people" and we are DEF getting canon MacDennis okay they are going to KISS on the MOUTH in BIG MO.
....and then they didn't. Clown shoes squeaking.
Okay trying to get this back on track...
As far as reddit goes, that's always just been the "dudebro" place for Sunny. Sometimes they make valid points and our braincells align and that warrants someone posting it here to discuss.
I feel like the general opinions kinda feel the same to me? Mac and Dennis are endgame, Archie. Dennis is bastardman but also baby. Charlie poor little meow meow. I do have to say...I feel like some stuff used to feel a bit more...grounded than it does now?? If that makes sense? Like idk man people were out here writing academic prose to describe the meta in Clip Show. And I do feel like that vibe's kinda gone. But it's not a bad thing. It's just different. Like it's more unhinged but hey we're still having fun so who cares?
Uh what else? Oh yeah so the RCG stuff. Like I said before, there was a point where Sunnyblr propped them up and we got reality checked real quick, okay? They went from being UnProblematic Kings ™ to Rob posting copaganda on his IG at the height of the George Floyd protests in June of 2020. That happening after all the shit with Dee Day was basically a powder keg. And that's honestly when Sunnyblr as I knew it, really died.
I think the podcast has def shoved them back into a more favorable light in the fandom's eyes. Speaking for myself, I never stopped stanning Glenn but Rob and Charlie and Kait were on thin fucking ice (maybe not Charlie so much but def Rob and Kait--actually mostly Rob). I think RCG have to be prevalent in the fandom as much as the characters do bc they're so close to them and the show like this IS their show y'know?
That's...all I can really think of. Like I said, not many people remain from those days. I can think of maybe a handful off the top of my head but I wouldn't consider them nearly as active as they were regarding Sunny when I joined. We're still moots but that's bc we like each other beyond the MacDennis of it all.
Sorry this is so long too lmfao. Like Sunnyblr was such a huge part of my life during that time so I guess I got shit to say. I also for real in no way consider myself the end all be all expert on this either. Like in no way am I the sole authority on Sunnyblr history. This is based on stuff I experienced and picked up on from other's posts from before my time. Anybody can chime in with their own opinions and shit. Correct me too. Idc.
Uh yeah. So I guess that's what you missed on Glee. Or Sunnyblr. The end? I hope that helped (for real).

Fandom ask: 001 - C control
002 - Kimimaro/Mashu
003 - Masakaki
:3
001: C control
Favorite character: I'm pretty sure the answer is obvious, it's Masakaki lol
Least Favorite character: I guess it would have to be Hanabi, it's not that I dislike her I just don't really think much of her
5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): (I'm gonna assume it meant 5 romantic ships) Other than Mysu x Kimimaro, I don't think I have any other romantic ships lol
Character I find most attractive: Masakaki, but mainly just as a character
Character I would marry: Oooof, there's not really anybody in C I would marry, but if I ever had the chance I guess I would marry Jennifer 🤔
Character I would be best friends with: Kimimaro for sure 👍
A random thought: Masakaki should've had more screen time, also wish we could've had more backstory for him
An unpopular opinion: Hanabi should've been an entre, and I feel like she would've been(or at least connected with the financial district directly in some way) but the creators scrapped that, I really only think that because of this image I found here:
Tumblr media
My Canon OTP: Though I don't ship them too much, my canon OTP for c control is Mysu x Kimimaro(Romantically)
My Non-canon OTP: I don't exactly have any lol(at least not any romantic OTPs)
Most Badass Character: Mikuni, Mysu, Q, and Jennifer. My baes💙
Most Epic Villain: There were really only two villains in c control(those two being Masakaki and Mikuni), and I think both are pretty epic ✨
Pairing I am not a fan of: Q and Mikuni(romantically), I just can't see it, I mean, Q looks a lot like Mikuni's sister and pretty much is his sister(as seen in the last episode)
Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): Masakaki, along with the Midas bank, honestly, they could've gone so much more in-depth with his character, if only C control had more episodes. I still have many unanswered questions, like why is the Midas Bank there? How did the financial district form in the first place? Who are what exactly is Masakaki? How do they just erase entire countries? What would happen if Masakaki somehow disappeared or got extremely injured? I have many more, but I'll stop there because I don't want this to get too long lol
Character I most identify with: Kimimaro, at first I thought he was kinda bland for a protagonist, then after a few rewatches I found that I have a lot in common with him than I thought phphphph
Character I wish I could be: I don't exactly wish I could be any character from c control, I just don't see any qualities I would want in any of the characters lolol
002: Kimimaro and Mysu
When I started shipping them: At first I didn't think anything of it, then after looking at a bit of fan art and fanfics I started to ship it a lot more
My thoughts: I think they're pretty good together, they have a lot of chemistry and I can definitely see them fit a lot of tropes, which is really good for me because it gives me a lot of ideas for fanfic ideas and little scenarios I can make up in my head :D
What makes me happy about them: The way they both look out and care for each other, it's honestly the best thing you can get out of a ship
What makes me sad about them: The fact that Mysu is just an asset and at the end of the series there was really no way for her to be together with Kimimaro forever :,)
Things done in fanfic that annoys me: I haven't read too many fanfics of Mysu and Kimimaro, but so far none of them really 'annoyed' me(and hopefully none ever will)
Things I look for in fanfic: I don't really look for anything in fanfics, if I like it then I like it lol
My wishlist: Uhh I don't quite understand this so I'm just gonna skip it :D
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: For Kimimaro, I'd be fine if he ended up with Hanabi, for Mysu? I honestly don't see any romance between her and anybody other than Kimimaro
My happily ever after for them: Hmm, I'm not too good at writing happily ever afters, but I'll try writing one for them. My happily ever after for them would be if Mysu still got to live and maybe get reincarnated as like, a human version of herself, but at the same time I guess lose all memories of Kimimaro but then meeting Kimimaro again, then like before when Mysu was an asset they slowly get closer and end up dating. Or maybe Mysu still gets reincarnated as a human but doesn't lose her memory at all, idk this is just what I thought of
003: Masakaki:
How I feel about this character: It's extremely obvious if you simply look on my page lol, I really like him and find him interesting as a character, I honestly wish we could've seen more from him
Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: Just one of my OCs, but for any canon characters? Nope, I can't see him with any of them
My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: Masakaki and Mikuni(Masakaki respects Mikuni a lot as an entre), Masakaki and the other representatives(I see them as brothers), Masakaki and Mysu(I feel they would be friends), Masakaki and Kimimaro(I also feel like they'd be somewhat friends), and Masakaki and Jennifer(I have a bit of a feeling they'd be something like acquaintances)
My unpopular opinion about this character: Masakaki should've gotten a scene where he got punched by Kimimaro, no because I'm genuinely curious, what would he do? What would be the consequences for Kimimaro if there are any? I need answers >:/
One thing I wish would happen/had happened with this character in canon: I wish he could've been a more main antagonist in the series, like maybe after Kimimaro defeated Mikuni then it could've transitioned to Masakaki becoming a bigger foe for both Kimimaro and Mikuni? Idk, I honestly just wish we could've seen him being eviler or even fighting >.>
Favorite friendship for this character: I favor the (non-canon)friendship between him and his counterparts, I like to imagine them getting into little fights and just acting like brothers. What I like to imagine even more is imagining Midas/their boss kinda as their father figure lol
