ADMIN JESSE AU
Everything I'm bout to say is based on what the MCSM wiki says the admins can do. Not sure if everything on there is canon but OH WELL
That's the wiki page I based my stuff on.
Also I'm gonna divide everything into categories based on how I think them being admin would affect canon (such as his relationships, the storyline, etc.).
One last thing also, I'll be using he/they pronouns for Jesse. Not that this would affect anything in the AU, I just wanted to note that before we get into the notes. (Sorry to ppl who prefer the girl version of Jesse btw)
OTHERWISE HERE WE GO
RELATIONSHIPS
I think it would've mostly affected his relationship. Would he hidden the fact that he was an admin? I mean we do see Romeo shapeshiting so I don't see why Jesse wouldn't hide as we already know them to look like (depeding on what the player chooses ofc) or something.
I don't think Jesse would've openly said "hey did you know I'm an admin?" to Axel and Olivia and especially not random people. If I remember correctly people in the MCSM universe don't even believe that admins actually existed (until the end of season 2 at least), so yeah I think he would've kept that to themself.
ALSO Would he have known they had OP powers? I mean I guess besides shapeshiting, WOULD THEY EVEN KNOW??? HOW OP HE ACTUALLY IS??? I think it'd be lowkey funny to see Jesse think to himself like "Oh yeah I can shapeshift, that's cool..." and moves on with his day like it's a normal thing. Logically I don't think he'd know that he was an admin, since no one believes them to be real, I imagine that info about them would be very rare and limited.
I don't think him being an admin would change much of Season 1 anywho, he'd shapeshift but that would be it. He still befriends Lukas, goes to find Soren, you know the deal.
For the Witherstorm, I think for one that Jesse would've been able to save Reuben from dying. Since it says on the wiki that admins can use telekinesis maybe while destroying the command block he'd subconsciously wish for Reuben not to fall and surprise Reuben starts slowly descending instead. Sure he'd be like "Oh phew" but also has no time to sit and ask "Wait how'd I do that? Did I do that??" since he has to focus on destroying the command block.
Small conclusion: Jesse wouldn't know that they are an admin, just that he can shapeshift. Despite that he keeps those powers to himself.
STORYLINE
I think the biggest change to the storyline would be Romeo's motivations. I mean he tried to keep the admins together once, who says he wouldn't do it again? Though I think Romeo would have a hunch on Jesse being an admin but his theory being comfirmed when they put on the prismarine gauntlet.
Imagine in the ice palace after Jesse and his gang win the clock challenge, this is how I imagine Romeo and Jesse's dialogue would go.
Romeo: And here I thought I'd never see another admin again
Jesse and the gang: ???
Romeo: UGH I'm talking about you Jesse.
Jesse: I'm not an admin though??
[awkward silence]
Romeo: You're joking right?
Jesse being clueless about the fact they're an admin is something I imagine would happen. So then Romeo mentions all the weird things that happened, his ability to shapeshift, Reuben slowly descending instead of falling the moment Jesse wishes for his pig's safety. You know all that jazz.
Obvioulsy Jesse and the gang would be to stunted to speak, in shock, I suppose. Imagine being told by someone you just met (that somehow knows everything you've accomplished so far down in near perfect details) that you aren't exactly human. I mean I'd be shocked too.
Then I can imagine panic or just very awkward stunned silence setting in the group while Romeo just floats in the corner like "Ah yes sweet sweet drama".
Small conclusion: Romeo wants to keep the admins to stick together, like the actual game. He learns and eventually reveals that Jesse's actually an admin in the ice palace.
BONUS ✨DAD FRED / ADMIN FAMILY AU✨
Before I get more into this I have to specify what I think a family would look like in minecraft. Personally I think if the babies would just spawn, that in itself is lowkey funny BUT there's still some requirements to meet.
Both parents have to agree and have to come to terms with the responsabilities of raising a kid. Said parents also would have 9 month to prepare the house so that the child may grow up as comfortably as possible.
Also lets ditch the nuclear family idea and say that in minecraft, raising kids is done collectively, as a community. So if the parents have difficulties or straight up just aren't suitable to raise a child, another adult can take the kid in.
I also think orphanages would work differently, as in, if the parents weren't suitable to raise their child, they'd dropped the kid off there. Either to get more ready to welcome the child home or for the kid to get raised by the whole community instead.
Obviously there's still cracks in that system and all but let's say this'll do for the AU.
So going into headcanons now,
I think Fred actually really loved to visit humans from time to time and that he was actually quite beloved among most villages and bigger towns. Fred would have like a human apperance though to blend in.
So time skip Fred's getting a kid YAY, you wouldn't guess who it is. THAT'S RIGHT IT'S THE LOVABLE JESSE!! WOO!! By the way the admin family would go something like this, Fred is Jesse's bio dad, Romeo's the cool uncle and Xara's the chill aunt. (I don't ship Romeo and Xara by the way, they act more like siblings that eventually sadly fell apart to me).
So Fred takes care of Jesse in his young years (0 to like 5 y.o) until eventually the tension between the three admins start to get to much and he becomes worried for his child's safety.
Fred (being beloved by literally everyone he's ever met) drops off Jesse at an orphanage explaining sadly that he isn't able to take care of him anymore. (Which he would be, but with the admin drama getting worse by the day, it's not safe for him to care for Jesse). The villagers are of course eager to help Fred and take Jesse under their wing.
Said village would eventually be revealed to be Binta's town in the underneath. In his early teens (13 to 16 y.o), he goes to adventure to the overworld and end up finding Olivia, Axel, Petra and Reuben there! He stays there until the Witherstorm Arc (which I headcanon him to be 17 almost 18 y.o while the Arc happens).
Small conclusion: Kids in minecraft are raised as a community but housed by their bio parents. Orphanages work for parents who have to get more time to be ready to raise a kid or for said kid to be raised by the whole community. Jesse's bio dad, Fred, can't take care of them anymore due to the admin drama getting too dangerous (we all know what happens to Fred.. Fs in notes). Jesse's taken in by Binta's eventually town in the underneath.
@willburzone. @7official7spacekitty7. @thinknamewhat.
This one's for you guys! I hope you'll like this AU as much as I do!!

Sooo, as someone who has asked themselves the same thing about several implied and even some canon ships in the past, i can say with full confidence that it's literally just the homophobia. Like not of the omori fandom, but of the wiki. I've been in a fandom once where there were two gay ships who were canon to the point of confessing, however the wiki still never put them as canon because "they could've just said ily platonically, it's up to interpretation", but then put the most ridiculous m/f ships into the semi-canon section even though you genuinely had to reach So much to even consider any kind of implication. Similar things have happened with other fandoms i was in as well, and oh wonder oh surprise, the biases against m/m and f/f ships have always been extremely obvious. I know this isn't the case with omori, however it still shows how biased the shipping wiki is, same with the tv tropes side. Btw, I hope this doesn't read as angry or anything, if so I apologize
yeeeppppp, you’re 100% right. sadly, homophobia is so rampant w this kind of thing, and it always really fuckin’ sucks when those kinds of people get to be in charge in wikis because they can edit things however they please and push down any complaints by queer folks.
like, this isn’t about shipping but a video game I like has a canon transfem character, and for years the fandom wiki was run by transphobes who would misgender her and answered any complaints with shitty excuses for why her being trans isn’t “canon” even though it Is. (the happy ending is that they no longer run the wiki AND the game is getting an official english release and they used she/her pronouns on her character page so checkmate assholes)
the unfortunate thing with OMORI is that… there are no canon queer characters (aside from Pretty Boy and Jock but I’ve explained before why they don’t really count) so it’s a lot easier for homophobes to reason “this character isn’t Actually gay” no matter how implied or narratively explicit it is. big fucking sigh

He’s just so adorable.... and I think his route is very sweet. Also I love how Shimada is when watching Yamazaki and Chizuru lol.

Hakuoki Shinkai Hana no Shou Stellaworth Early Reservation Bonus Yamazaki Susumu After Story
Translation by KumoriYami
Yamazaki Susumu who had served as a member of the Shinsengumi's Watch/been a member of the Watch as part of the Shinsengumi for a long period of time, had been a doctor at the Yukimura clinic for half a year. And during one night——
Yamazaki, who was left alone in the clinic, heard/sensed a door open behind him.
"Susumu-san."
Looking back, standing there was his beloved wife —— Yukimura Chizuru.
"Do you want to take a break? Last night you were also reading late....
Her large eyes were full of anxiety. She looked very worried about Yamazaki.
Although he was very grateful for her taking care of him...
"Now isn't the time to sleep, I still need to remember the basics of LanXue/Western studies as quickly as possible, and I won't feel sleep at night.
[I left the term Lan Xue "蘭學” here since I'm not entirely sure of my interpretation of the phrase and put in "Western studies" since I recall that term from the game... which kinda seems to fit? Anyway, according to Wikipedia that was put through google translate, Lan Xue "refers to the Japanese Edo period by the Dutch incoming general term for Japanese academic, cultural, technological, academic literally Netherlands, the idea could be interpreted as the Western academic (referred to as oceanography ). Lanxue is a kind of learning developed by the Japanese through exchanges with the people of the island. Lanxue allowed the Japanese to understand Western technology and medicine during the period of the Edo Shogunate policy (1641-1853)." This was taken directly from from https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/蘭學.]
Yamazaki knows well that the books/studies he needs for the future will not be about Chinese medicine and acupuncture, but rather Western medicine based on LanXue/Western studies.
That said, it's not easy to understand the literature/words of a foreign country, so it is necessary to decrease [the time spent] resting to learn/study.
Chizuru, she should understand his way of thinking——.
"Please rest today."
Her admonishing tone in her speech left Yamazaki at a loss/ perplexed Yamazaki..
".....What’s going on? You wouldn't normally say that, would you?"
".............."
Her expression sank for a bit. Finally, she spoke....
"I think Susumu-san is as if he were back in the past, and I can't help but feel uneasy."
"In the past... like that?"
"Yes. Not only do you stay awake at night and give me the feeling that you were always fighting for the Shinsengumi... [it] felt that [you] were eager to die."
Hearing such an accusation without warning, Yamazaki could not say a second sentence.
However ——.
(Since I was watching my Chizuru all the time, there shouldn't be anything wrong/things should be okay) [says 我的千鶴 which is my Chizuru]
Looking back at his actions in the past months, Yamazaki deeply reflected on himself/his actions.
“Sorry, I worried you. However I'm definitely not in a hurry to die...."
His words stopped half-way. Chizuru (then) urged/pressed him [to continue] as she tilted her head.
What he said afterwards was really embarrassing, but if he didn't speak, he wouldn't be able to eliminate/dispel her worries/concerns.
"Do you remember the other day when Ibuki's wife brought their child over to play?"
"Yes, I remember it well. That child is very like his mother, truly cute/adorable."
"Seeing that child, I though: I can't allow these children to die before they grow up."
Although not all Western culture was good, he believed that Western medicine at least could help many people suffering from diseases.
"Susumu-san...."
Chizuru's eyes were full of admiration.
Then, she squinted her eyes and smiled.
"I think it's a very good idea. I also want to help my husband Susumu-san."
"Ye, yes...."
She spoke so bluntly, Yamazaki couldn't help but be confused and realized he could not remain calm.
When he heard this sentence (alt: these words) from Chizuru's lips [says mouth but I think it sounds better this way], he thought - it's truly wonderful that I chose her (alt: this might say - it's truly wonderful that she chose him) [this part of the sentence lacks pronouns... so it can be technically can be interpreted 2 ways].
"But today please rest. It's not easy to get used to getting up in the morning and sleeping at night.... and lack of sleep can cause a misdiagnosis.
In actuality, he wanted to read more tonight....
“I know, today I will listen to you.  After all, when it comes to Western medicine, you are (my) senpai/predecessor.”
Yamazaki said that as he looked [alt: gestured, though i’m not entirely sure here] over the books.
"No, how can I be your senpai/predecessor...! I have nothing to teach Susumu-san."
"Don't be so humble. I was helped a lot by you when studying/learning Western studies.”
It's the truth, but to Chizuru, it was a very embarrassing compliment.
When he cleaned up his disk, Yamazaki thought of something.
“Speaking of which/by the way, we were just talking about Ibuki's child...”
"Yes. He is a very lovely child."
"Ah, yes.... ah. But, uh...."
Yamazaki was unable to truthfully speak about what he wanted to talk about, thus he hesitated.
Confused by his appearance, Chizuru blinked and asked.
"What's wrong? Is there something that you're worried/concerned about?"
"No, it's not...."
If spoken, would she misunderstand? This doubt kept Yamazaki quiet.
"If you want to say something, please speak. I want to know what you are thinking."
Having been urged by her, Yamazaki made up his mind to speak his thoughts.
"That.... I want/think (that) we should really consider it....."
"Consider, yes —— "
Because there wasn't an immediate indication of understanding what it meant, Chizuru looked/seemed lost for a while, then....
"Well..."
When she understood what Yamazaki wanted to say, her face was flushed. . “Oh, no! I don't mean to force you! Because it's an important time, and it's not too late to think about it before the clinic is developed.....!”
As he explained  in a panic, Chizuru spoke up.
".......I will think about it."
Her ears were red. After that, she stood up and left the study.
Only Yamazaki was left in the room.
(She said 【will consider】 does that mean....)
She is willing? Or does that mean she doesn't agree?
After that, no matter how he asked again, he did not get a clear response causing Yamazaki to spend countless nights in anguish. [:3 fufufu lol]
-fini-
————
cyar all next month... still busy rn.... only 3 (harada, souji, heisuke) of these short stories are left from what I have been able to find...
anyvey, i had to go and bawl my eyes out (not really, but i mean it figuratively, lol) since I finally got around to watching the Shitan Kazama-hen musical.... As a result of that, I’m now super motivated to work on my song transpositions from the original one.... as my motivation for doing arrangements was more than  dead once i lost my work since timing is seriously my bane when working on any music stuff... so hopefully i’ll be able to finish something within the next month.
再见!

Nine Worlds 2018 - Sunday & Homeward
This write up is bought to you by a pack of Nerds, so who the hell knows how coherent it will be by the end.
Tumblr media
(Actual footage of me)
From Saturday!
Sunday:
Our Last Best Hope for Science Fiction: 25 Years of Babylon 5
A look at a ground breaking sci-fi series, celebrating a show we love and how it grew from a something set on a space station to something truly special.
Tumblr media
(Two Centauri, a starfleet officer, and a Morden(?) walk in to a panel...)
This is the panel I missed the talk on Golems for, and much as I wanted to see the Golems, this was 100% worth the trade, because I’ve never met that many people who are in to B5 before, and it was a really funny and thought provoking panel with some beautiful moments in it, including the moments of silence when we remembered those from the Babylon 5 family who have gone beyond the rim.
There was also discussion of favourite moments from Babylon 5. Mine has to be this, from the Centauri’s final assault on the Narn Homeworld. Peter Jurasik’s acting is superb here, but I love that the writers and director made a place in that episode to show the flipping of Mollari when he realises what he’s done - how out of control and repelled he feels by what should be a moment of triumph. And the moment he starts to work his way back towards some sort of redemption.
youtube
I think my favourite quote of the whole thing was by the person cosplaying as Londo Mollari:
"Behold minbari Jesus - his name is Jeff"
Tumblr media
(This psycop lurked for the entire panel. It’s as perfectly creepy and wonderful as it sounds. When I mentioned that on twitter, it devolved in to a Babylon 5 pun war...)
When I came out of the B5 panel, the one person I’d seen with a brain slug had become a collective. And they continued to grow in number throughout Sunday. Props to the person who spent an entire year making brain slugs to give away to strangers at Nine Worlds.
Tumblr media
(The frightening brain slug collective. They continued to multiply throughout the day. Possibly the creepiest cosplay of the weekend, just because they continued to multiply.)
History’s Hidden Heroes III
Following two years of back-to-back success, the ‘History's Hidden Heroes’ session returns to its original format of ten to fifteen minute mini-talks by individual presenters discussing their favourite figures lost - or pushed aside - from mainstream history. Introduction by EK McAlpine, with talks from Tara, Avery, and Reiley.
This session was run by EK, and the speakers were Avery Delany, Tara Brown, and Reiley Daniels who all spoke about people in history who were part of the LGBTQ community, including some who were trans (though not remembered that way), some who were gender non-conforming, some who were openly queer at a time when that was (more) dangerous than now.
Avery spoke about trans masculine people in history, including a pioneering doctor, James Barry (note - while that Wiki article generally avoids using any pronouns at all, there is a source from the time quoted that misgenders Barry, so be careful if that would cause you any distress).
My favourite quote from Avery was “Do some queer history“, but I also really appreciated something I didn’t get the exact words of, but amounted to the idea that someone wouldn’t live as a gender different to the one they were assigned at birth for over 50 years if they did not actually identify as that gender. I really wish I’d got the actual words, because that quote stuck with me as much as anything.
Tara Brown spoke about three women of colour who were pioneers in blues and jazz - and sexuality, Ma Rainey, Bessie Smith, and Gladys Bentley.
One of the most interesting, and awful, takeaways from this talk was the brief discussion about how there is some difference in the historical record as to the sexuality women presented, and that this is due to McCarthyism which basically forced at least Gladys Bentley to present herself as no longer a lesbian. It made me so cross to think of a person as comfortable in their sexuality as Bentley having to forcibly change themselves because of the massive risks that being out and proud served in the backwards looking 1950s America.
Reiley spoke about a quack physician called Charles Hamilton (misgendered practically everywhere on the internet), and the importance of checking multiple sources and subjecting them to due scrutiny.
If anyone enjoyed this panel is interested in other hidden heroes from sources that aim at diversity in who and what they talk about (and use content notices), I highly recommend @missedinhistory, Sawbones, and @rejectedprincesses.
The Future of Nine Worlds
It's time for a chat about Nine Worlds and where it's going. If you have strong thoughts about what you'd like to see the event become, and would like to get involved in making things happen, this is your in-person opportunity to talk about the options and understand how we got where we are.
Went to this, and I honestly don’t have a lot to say about it - not a lot a could say about it because I’m very much not the right person to speak about what happened in the majority of the session.
I will say that the announcement that Nine Worlds was re-constituting after this year’s con felt like a blow to the gut.
Tumblr media
(This was an incredibly powerful moment, and to know that even though the current director is stepping back a future nineworlds is possible meant so very much.)
Tumblr media
(Main point by what may turn out to be the future team was that Nine Worlds is too precious to lose)
CN for discussion of police at con, and a failure act appropriately to the stated concerns of a con-goer (and more concerned people who did not speak about it at the Future of Nine Worlds panel). When this section is over there will be a delightful gif of Wonder Woman deflecting bullets so scroll below her if you will find this section challenging.
What happened next is best summed up by Alecto101 in this post which I urge you all to read (also please read this followup thread by the same person). Her recollection of what happened at that panel is extremely accurate. I was there, and that is what happened. It was not dealt with adequately by anyone there in an official capacity. Most people who wanted to say something in follow up raised the fact that Alecto101 had not had her question and concerns adequately addressed, and when the people on the stage did so, it was in an inappropriate way that put the emotional and intellectual workload back on the person who had rightly raised legitimate concerns.
I have absolutely no patience with the people who immediately strawmanned (Oh, you don’t want police there at all - you can’t exclude attendees based on job) - I was there and at no point did Alecto101 suggest that.
What I’m trying to say is something EK said much more eloquently: “Concerns about how police participate in 9W and the separation of their jobs and their everyday lives as fans are ABSOLUTELY valid and not the same as “ban cops”.“
The developments since have been a little more positive, and I’m hoping that the reconstitution can be used as a way to build in representation of PoC from the beginning rather than trying to add on later. The way 9W works for members of the LGBTQ or disabled communities needs to be the way it works for the BaME community too, or it is not diverse (I’ve paraphrased here. I’m pretty sure I’ve just mangled the original quote. I can’t remember who said it but it wasn’t originally me).
For followup, I recommend reading Avery Delany’s thread here and this thread on the official Nine Worlds twitter account. This web page from Nine Worlds is also very important reading. If you have the physical, emotional, and mental spoons to do so, please consider signing up to be part of the future.
Finally, if you’re thinking about writing to Alecto, please first consider this tweet from the official Nine Worlds Team: “We do not want people to interact with the blogger on our behalf. We do not need defending. We do not want them pursued again for conversations they don’t want to continue. Their opinions are valid and we are glad to have heard them. “ and just DON’T.
Tumblr media
After that I had more con crash, and tried to manage it myself in the quiet room, before worrying that my nose blowing was going to upset those who had sensory overload and needed genuine quiet, and ran away to my room where E wrapped me in a blanket and fed me biscuits until I was human again. She is awesome and I’m totally in her debt. (Thread here of what I struggled with wrt the quiet room - I am not saying it should go away BTW - I don’t know what the right answer is, just that I found it challenging for my own particular issues)
The end of the con was then barrelling towards me at a terrifying speed. I went off site for food with some friends, and then we all formed half of a team for the unofficial “The Not The End of the Con Quiz” as team Last Best Hope for Victory, and we only went and bloody won! Massive props to @knittedace and @laalratty who basically carried our team through two rounds pretty much on their own (even though one of our team who shall remain nameless nearly submitted “Aragorn” as the name of the giant spider in Harry Potter, which was caught before we submitted for marking, but they shall not live it down... for a while anyway :))
Tumblr media
(Team Last Best Hope for Victory. Actual quiz victors!)
Went to bed at midnight after several rounds of Slash, which was really the perfect end to a great con (even if I did keep crashing).
Tumblr media
(Me on my way home. I look pretty knackered there, but it doesn’t even touch how completely mentally (and to some extent physically) exhausted I was, and still am. Completely worth it though.)
youtube
I may have listened to this on the journey home and sobbed. Like I said on my Friday post, it’s somehow become the song of the con for me.

on nonbinary representation
while i am perfectly happy as being seen as a void, as a magical craeture or sth (mainly bc i question me being a person a lot due to neurodivergency/mental illness idk which or what exactly haha), i also hate that people cannot understand, no matter how much i try and explain.
now, that may or may not be because of me being bad at explaining, but i know from other situations that having good representation in media (mainstream or not) can go a long way. both in helping ppl who this is representation for feel less alone, less weird, less wrong, and in helping others understand more easily.
nonbinary characters do not happen a lot. and when they do they are usually aliens, robots, in other ways dehumanised, or used as excuses and to delegitamize gay characters and relationships (like all gems in steven universe tbh. theyre aliens, might work for bigender ppl but are shown as general nonbinary representation, theyre “not lesbian bc they dont have a gender”, etc)
there are few examples of good representation in media, and none at all that i can think of in mainstream media. more examples of bad or not great representation overall, but those dont really help. if you use they/them pronouns for example, both with specific characters and characters that do not appear for long, without explicitly stating some connection to the character being nonbinary, people will assume that you use those pronouns bc their “”real”” pronouns havent been revealed yet. this of course completly ignores that not all nonbinary people use they/them pronouns, id argue that not even a majority use them, or even only them. just using they/them pronouns is not representation.
of course, no matter how awesome your character is, and no matter how much nonbinary people may love and appreciate them, theyre not neccessarily god representation. especially if theyre the only character that is in any way noted to be nonbinary, and theyre very explicitly not human, or alien, or portrayed as abnormal. these characters can be nonbinary, in fact it makes sense for them to be (why would magical creatures or aliens adhere to western notions of binary genders?), but if its just them? youve got a huge problem on your hands. take for example roswell from the adventure zone (not mainstream media but ive been thinking abt them so ill use them as an example). theyre a golem made of clay and a bird. theyre magical in nature and nonbinary. their wiki page states that theyre agender, but i dont remember their creator ever actually saying that. which is a problem. it is not representation if its alluded to, its not representation if it is to be assumed that they are nonbinary. now i also dont remember roswells creator ever saying that they were intended as representation, but the fandom sure likes to act like they are.
theyre an awesome character, one of my faveourites to be honest. but theyre not good representation. not once is it stated that theyre nonbinary or agender or anything in that direction, they are a being of magical creation, which can easily be dehumanising. i love them, i identify with them, but they dont count as representation.
on a different note, i just realised that my bar for representation and identification with a character is set so low that i will identify with them if they use they/them pronouns (another example in my case would be napstablook from undertale, who btw also isnt good representation, but their pronouns and them being nonbinary are commonly ignored by the fandom anyway so :/)
i dont remember where i wanted to go with this, but maybe posting my thoughts on this is interesting anyway for someone
