forever thinking how thor learned his lesson a little too well. or perhaps learned the wrong lesson in the first place. how odin wanted to teach him that his actions have consequences, above all consequences of disobeying HIM, of stepping outside that line in the sand odin drew for him but what he got instead is thor caring about people, ordinary people especially, rather than kingship and then he was " no no not like this"
#thor#thor odinson#thor 2011#thor the dark world#crown prince gets banished and comes back a socialist#i'm kidding obvi#but also i love how thor was meant to be humbled and he was#just not the way odin planned for it to work#thor still walks back into the cage but he's changed#and not in a way odin entirely appreciates

The Battle of Sentiment (Loki x GN/ASGARDIAN!Reader)
Summary: You and Loki were childhood friends, but now he seemed more like a stranger. Sentiment… It wasn’t just your weakness. There was always something unspoken between you two. (Set during ‘Avengers’.)
Rating: SFW/All ages - brief mentions of injury/blood but nothing graphic. Angst, hurt, kinda romance if you squint.
A/N: Written more from Loki’s POV, with an ‘unspoken love’ between you both. No use of ‘Y/N’.
Based off of my POV
“I see they’ve sent in the cavalry.”
Loki slowly turned in his glass cell - or cage he should say. He wore a slight smirk on his lips, eyes faintly narrowed as the sound of his leather boots shifted on the floor, filling the silence in the room. There you stood, donned in the armour of a warrior. It seemed a lot had changed since he fell from the Bifrost. He was hardly surprised, you had always wanted to be a ‘protector’… Yet his tone as he said those words was one of mockery. He knew this was Thor’s doing, sending you to try and talk some ‘sense’ into him. The one person Thor thought maybe he would listen to…
“I assume my brother and his new friends believe you can, what?” Loki continued, tilting his head faintly, walking slowly closer to the glass. “Offer solace? Be a balm? Remind me of ‘who I really am’…?” His lips tugged into a sharp, sardonic smile as he shook his head, hands clasped behind his back. “Tell me how I ‘don’t need to do this’…” You had yet to say a word, simply observing the God turned attempted Ruler. “Thor told you of my true parentage, did he not?” Loki raised a brow. “I was never one of you.” A pause. “And I certainly will not be swayed with sentiment.”
It was a declaration. A hypocritical one at that. Every action since he found out about his true heritage had been born from sentiment, whether he liked to admit it or not. And the way you had yet to say a single word… It irked him more than he liked. His sharp smile slowly fell, a steely expression taking over his features. A low rumble left him, almost sound of frustration as he turned once again on his heel, slowly beginning to pace the round cage.
“It appears much has changed since I was cast into an abyss…” Loki’s voice held an edge to it, perhaps even the faintest traces of hurt at the memory of Odin’s last words echoing in his mind. The simple ‘no, Loki’ that had left his fath-… Asgard’s King’s lips. Rejection. “You don a warriors garb.” He paused his steps, glancing back at you. “Asgardian armour, a fierce expression and yet…” His eyes narrowed analytically. “Your eyes reveal your… disappointment. Your uncertainty. Your doubt.” Once again, his lips twitched upwards, this time into a slight smirk. “So, enlighten me…” He tilted his head. “What do you hope to gain?”
You had remained silent, watching the man you had once called your friend. Your dearest friend… Yet, somehow now he felt like a stranger. You had seen Loki be angry, jealous, cunning, manipulative… But never this detached. Especially, not to you. Your lips pursed as you dared take a few steps closer to the glass between you both, your leathers lightly creaking as you did so. Loki mirrored your movements, also taking a few steps closer. You were disappointed. You were uncertain. And your doubt was regarding your friendship with the God of Mischief.
“Nothing.” You finally spoke, voice low, almost quiet. “I came to Midgard to aid Thor, to protect the mortals-“ A breathy, almost mocking laugh cut you off. It was brief, Loki’s hands unclasping from behind his hand to fall at his sides. “And to ensure the Tesseract is secured.” You continued, trying to ignore his clear dismissal of your words. “This isn’t about what I can gain.”
“Hm.” Loki hummed lowly, smirk still on his face. You fought the urge to shift under his calculating stare, knowing he likely saw right through your words. Loki was adept at finding weaknesses, but you both knew he didn’t need to probe too much to find yours.
Of course, you were in love with him. He had been a constant in your life since you were children. You had seen him at his worst - or at least, what you had thought was his worst - and his best. Just as he had you. There was always something unspoken between you, but neither of you had ever admitted it openly or even really admitted it to yourselves - not fully. And now… Well, everything that happened before Thor’s coronation seemed like a distant memory. It felt cold. And that hurt more than anything. You didn’t know what was worse, the feeling of grief you had carried the whole year after his fall from the Bifrost or this, right now. It was a different type of grief.
“Could you do it?” Loki’s sudden question brought you out from your thoughts, your brows furrowing ever so slightly. Loki’s smirk had disappeared, replaced with a look that was somehow steely as it was curious. “Could you stop me? Any means necessary?” A pause. “To protect this-“ He gestured loosely around him with a hand. “-lost realm?”
Silence.
You raised your chin faintly, trying to remain composed and neutral. But of course, he knew what your silence meant.
“Just as I had suspected.” He murmured, almost softly. “You see… it’s where you and I differ.” He took a step closer to the glass. “I wouldn’t hesitate.” And just as quickly as the softer tone appeared, it disappeared. “Not even for a second.” He tilted his head downwards, the shadows from the holding cells lighting giving him a darker look, sinister almost.
“I don’t believe you.” You countered, although the slight waver in your voice said otherwise. There it was… That doubt.
“Sentiment is a weakness.” Loki continued lowly. “Foolish, dangerous… And it gets you killed.” His voice was barely above a whisper, yet held the edge of danger he had spoken of. You swallowed the lump in your throat, taking a quiet breath.
“We were friends once.” You raised a brow, shaking your head faintly. “And now? We are… enemies?” There was that brief, breathy laugh again.
“Words spoken like a child…” Loki continued, taking another step closer, his shadow growing taller with each step. “Holding onto the memories of a lost boy.” His lips curled in what looked like disgust, his eyes flickering over you. “Pathetic.” The simple word cut right through you, making your composure falter. “You came to Midgard, not to protect but to try and reconcile. Letting sentimentality rule your actions. And it will be your undoing.”
You hadn’t even realised you’d been holding your breath until his fist suddenly collided with the glass, making you gasp, stepping back as he glared at you. It was cold, cruel… It was a side to Loki you hadn’t seen before.
“You stand in a warriors attire, yet you let emotion control your actions.” He snarled. “Your ancestors slain monsters like me and you came here to talk!?” He spat, his anger only growing. However, deep down, buried underneath all his animosity, his need for vengeance, his craving to be seen as a worthy ruler, he felt… hurt. Guilt even. The way you looked at him… Your eyes so expressive, so open like a book. His words were hurting you, just as he had designed them to. Then why did it affect him?
“You’re nothing but a child, interfering in affairs of Gods and Kings. If I were you…” His breath fogged the glass lightly from how close his face was to it, his fist uncurling as his palm pressed against the glass. “I would return to Asgard and stay out of my way.” It was a warning, not quite a threat. A quick breath left your nose, lips downturned, brows creased… Yes, it was a warning… But a part of you thought that perhaps… Perhaps it was born from care that he still felt somewhere inside.
“And if I refuse?” You asked, voice barely above a whisper, your eyes searching his. Loki’s hardened stare slipped for the quickest of moments, so quick that you wouldn’t have caught it if you hadn’t have been staring at him so intently.
It was the same look he had worn when you had insisted to go to Jotunheim with him, Thor, Sif and the Warriors Three. But that time… He was able to stop you, to keep you from accompanying them. This was different. You were on opposite sides, and he knew the mortals would not care what became of you in the war he sought to ignite.
“Then you would be foolish.” He finally spoke, voice a low murmur. “Return home.” He reiterated, more of an order than a warning now. Perhaps even a hint of a plea.
“Not without you.”
The words left you before you could stop them, the warriors facade completely melting away. Before him now stood his friend… The person he grew up with, the person he had once felt he could trust… But that trust broke with Odin and Frigga’s lie he had discovered. He couldn’t trust anyone. He wasn’t even sure he could trust himself anymore… His hand fell from the glass, his eyes blinking as he took a step back, chin raising as he spoke:
“So be it.”
The battle had begun.
Loki had once again managed to pull the strings, manipulating the team and getting the war he had wanted. He had fought his brother, and when Thor had forced him to look out at the world he was destroying… For a moment, the mask slipped. The vengeance, the rage, the envy… The craving to be a ruler… It disappeared for a second. In that moment, he felt like the lost boy. Destruction, chaos, death and pain… That was what he was inflicting. ‘Madness’ as Thor had called it.
Was it madness?
And for a second, Loki considered backing down. A part of him just… wanted it to be over. But the part of him, the logical part, remembered the consequences if he failed. And it surged him onwards.
But it was futile. The Avengers had won. He couldn’t help but feel some relief, the sceptres influence ebbing. It had bolstered him, intensifying his motives, his conviction… And now it was gone… Reality began to set in. As the Avengers stood before him, all ready for another round, Loki sat against the steps, cuts and scrapes littering his face from the fight. Exhausted. He was exhausted.
His eyes trailed over the triumphant team, before they flickered in your direction. His blue eyes took in your own exhausted face. You had survived… And the relief he felt at seeing you alive… It showed for a moment on his face. However, you didn’t escape unharmed. Your hand clutched your side, fingers bloodied and dirty. Your skin had sustained bruises, cuts and was covered in dust. Before him now was a warrior.
“If it’s all the same to you…” Loki’s eyes travelled back to the Avengers. “I’ll have that drink now.” He raised his brows faintly, noticing the small smirk Stark wore at his words. This was the Loki you remembered. Not the one you had been facing the last few days.
Thor didn’t waste any time in moving to apprehend him, although Loki had no plans of trying to escape. Punishment from Odin seemed a much better prospect than the consequences he would face at the hands of Thanos. As Thor hoisted him to his feet, Loki let out a quiet hiss, one of pain and frustration. It was then he saw you approaching, just as Thor cuffed his wrists.
“I’m impressed.” Loki raised a brow, eyeing you. “You survived.” He didn’t know what he expected you to say, but the look you gave him… told him everything he needed to know. “Well, you conquered your first battle.” He continued lowly. “I believe that is cause for celebration.” Thor glared at the God of Mischief, clearly not appreciating his candidness about his actions. He opened his mouth to say something, but you beat him to it.
“You think this is amusing?” You breathed out, your own frustrations and anger rising to the surface. Loki’s face remained neutral. “You think I wish to celebrate after the horrors I have just faced?” You shook your head in disbelief, your voice raising slightly, causing a few of the others in the room to glance your direction.
“Uh oh, looks like we have a domestic.” You heard Stark mutter wryly as he closed the suitcase which was now housing the Tesseract.
“People are dead, Loki. Their home destroyed!” You continued, taking a shaky breath. Loki’s lack of emotion only reinforced your frustration. In fact, he didn’t think he had ever seen you so angry. “All this for a throne you don’t even want.” You narrowed your eyes, taking a step closer. Thor remained close, almost between you, worried it could quickly turn hostile. “If sentiment is my weakness, then what is yours?” You asked rhetorically, making Loki’s jaw twitch. “If my actions have been that of a child, wanting my friend back, then what are yours?”
He knew what you were implying. That his own actions were that born of the lost boy that was still somewhere deep inside of him. And it stung, it got to him… because he knew it to be true. His actions were born from bitterness, rage, envy and most of all… Sentiment.
Loki took a step closer, Thor shifting on his feet almost nervously, seeing the way his brother’s posture had tensed. But as Loki looked down at you, his features remained as composed as possible. The air was tense… His unpredictability weaving around the room. And then…
“I’m glad you did not perish.”
It was simple. But he knew you could read between the lines. It was an admission, in Loki’s way. Your tight features relaxed faintly, processing his words. And that doubt, that uncertainty you had felt before when facing him on the Hellcarrier… It began to ebb slightly. Perhaps… Perhaps he wasn’t a complete stranger after all… Maybe he still was your friend. Somewhere beneath all that hurt.
Thor placed a hand on Loki’s shoulder, steering him away from you. But Loki held your gaze as he was ushered towards the elevator, unspoken words being exchanged with just a look. It wasn’t quite an apology, or remorse… But it was similar to that of a plea. A plea not to give up on him as his father had. It hit you right in the chest.
There he was.
Your friend.
Perhaps it was foolish… dangerous… And maybe it would be your undoing… Or maybe sentiment wasn’t a weakness after all. And maybe… Just maybe… It was the thing that could give you strength.

Scars(10)
Chapter 10: Loki
Alice had no idea where her father was at the moment. She was just wondering about the helicarrier avoiding people. Every time she saw a person, she'd turn the other corner. Now she was lost in the lower levels of the helicarrier. She had yet to see any views. But she did find a very interesting door.
Loki sat in a glass cell once again. If he remembered correctly, this was the exact same cell he was in last time, but this time it had more security was necessary, and he didn't complain. It actually made him feel kind of special.
Loki was suddenly pulled from his thoughts by the sound of the door opening. She walked back into the room before she turned around to face him. She was short, maybe 5′3 she had long Raven black hair and two different eye colors, left eyes brown and right blueish green. She wore a green long sleeve colored dress with white flats and a bulletproof vest.
Loki actually that she was a lost child. No one came here of purpose without a purpose especially not this young.
"Are you lost, child?
She shrugs as she begins to fidget with her fingers.
"Do you know who I am?" Alice shook her head "Have you been living under a rock, " Loki said harshly Alice flinched and took a few steps back "I destroyed Manhattan. Attempted to take over the world. you really don't know who I am?"
"no... sorry," she said. Loki looked confused for a moment before he composed himself and said "Loki Odin- Laufeyson, Loki Laufeyson."
"Hi, Loki" he liked the way she said his name unlike others, it was strangely sweet instead of bitter with distaste, but it was also a bit rough, as if unused for a long time. She liked at his glass cage in confusion.
"I was bad. You should go away now" Loki turned around trying to ignore Alice. She obliviously wasn't supposed to be here, she said that herself. He wasn't going to get involved with her now right now at least.
Instead of leaving, Alice sat on the floor outside of his cell. This girl was looking for trouble. " W-what ...happened?" She stuttered
Guards would be here any minute to escort her out. He knew this she obviously didn't.
He should have told her to go, to leave before they came to drag her away. He should tell her if she stayed, she'd get hurt. He should have said that, but he couldn't find the words. " I'm that eager to tell my life story"
"Okay" Alice didn't know why, but she, for some reason, found Loki very interesting. He was charming. She found herself feeling very drawn to Loki. He didn't look so bad after all. She knew she'd probably get in trouble, but she really felt something for him.
The two talked, well Loki talked. Alice nodded and gave one-word responses until someone finally came for her.
-
Thor was busy trying to convince the other Avengers to let Loki stay. It was challenging, but a few were starting to change. And proposing ideas and rules.
"he'll be confined to the tower. He won't leave without being escorted. Loki has changed and he's here to prove it"
"okay. okay" Steve finally says "he can stay. But in the tower. He'll assist us on missions. Three strikes and he's out"
"wait for what!?" Clint jumped up. He did not like this one bit. "We're seriously letting him stay after all he's done. He destroyed Manhattan"
"hey think of this Barton. He's an Avenger so he has to train with Avengers perfect time to kick his ass" Sam said cheering him up a bit. Everyone finally agreed.
As everyone got up and greeted Thor properly and told him what he missed Tony still sat deep in thought.
"If he's going to stay he can't know about Alice"
"Who?" Thor asked.
At that moment an Agent from below shouted "Sir, we've got a problem "
"what," Fury asked. "Someone is in Loki's cell room. A girl," Pulling up the feed. Sure enough, there was a girl sitting outside Loki's cell across from him. But not just any girl, Tony's baby girl.
Immediately all the Avengers were up an running, Thor very confusing but running along with everybody else anyway. They were exchanging family stories. Alice didn't have much to share but enjoyed listening to Loki's stories. The two were both startled when they heard a shout. Alice jumped up and backed up as her father marched in so anger she was pretty sure he could splitting the red seas.
"ALICE" Tony shouted. Loki immediately stood up in a protective way. Tony marched into the room, grabbed Alice by the forearm, looked directly into Loki's eyes, and said: "Strike one".

Into the Anthill pt 7 - Among Us Walks A Goliath
Taking a year off to focus on his research left Hank at a big disadvantage when he was finally forced to suit up again. Still unable to become Ant-Man and barely able to perform as Giant-Man, the strain of his first outing as Goliath caused him to be stuck at a height of 10 feet. During this time he had increasingly common swings of depression and rage that not even Janet could shake him out of, possibly our first real glimpse of Hank’s bipolar disorder. His mood stabilized some once Dr. Bill Foster helped him regain his full size-changing abilities, but his newfound temper left him quicker to snap and eager to brawl.
But hey, at least all that size changing finally mutated his superpowers into him.
🐜🐜🐜
Avengers vol 1 #28-33
Jan was captured by The Collector after escaping Attuma in Avengers #26, so Hank called the Avengers to ask for help, revealing his secret identity to them in the process. After not suiting up for so long Hank could only go between 25 feet and his standard size. Wanda gifted him a new uniform (that she made for him in her spare time for some reason) and they savd Jan, but due to overexertion Hank got stuck at 10ft tall and could not shrink further. Cap had some doctor he knew back in WW2 examine Hank. The doctor suggested that Hank would die instantly if he ever tried to return to normal size again, which threw him into a rage before he settled into just being miserable instead.
Desperate for a solution, Hank traveled to South America on his own to find a scientist that he hoped could help him return to normal. One high-tech mystical secret society later he had rescued the kidnapped scientist, who quickly explained that the only bio-chemist on Earth brilliant enough to save Goliath was Hank Pym. Go figure.
Hank kicked Jan out of his lab, insisting that he needed another bio-chemist as his assistant. At Tony’s recommendation he hired Bill Foster and the two of them got along swimmingly. The Sons of the Serpent then attacked Bill and abducted Cap, so the Avengers took them down with Black Widow’s help.
Tales of Suspense vol 1 #84
Cap brought AIM’s Super Adaptoid to Avengers HQ to have Hank study it, but as someone who had never built any robot more complicated than a remote-controlled ant (yet) he wasn’t able to determine much. The Adaptoid took this opportunity to copy all of their powers and attacked Cap once he was alone.
Amazing Spider-Man Annual #3
The Avengers (even Thor and Iron-Man) unanimously voted to offer Spider-Man membership if he could bring the Hulk to them (as a sort of field test). Spidey intentionally failed the test once he learned about Bruce Banner’s struggle, allowing Hulk to escape safely yet again.
Avengers vol 1 #34-40
The Living Laser became obsessed with Jan after seeing her at a bank. Laser successfully tricked Hawkeye and Cap into a laser cage so he could suck her into a jar and escape. He then attempted to overthrow a Central American government and trapped Cap and Hawkeye again. Hank’s work with Bill Foster finally paid off here, as he was able to shrink down to his former Ant-Man size again to break into Laser’s machine and cause it to explode.
Quicksilver was captured by Ixar and the Ultroids, so the rest of the team - along with Black Widow - traveled to Transia to free him. Ixar was able to get the full team trapped in capsules and planned to steal their powers. Hank shrank through a tube to set the team free.
After the Ixar incident the Avengers held a meeting to decide if Black Widow should be allowed to join, but Nick Fury got to her first and sent her on a deep cover mission to China. Just after the team noticed that Cap had gone MIA they were attacked by Hercules, who Enchantress had just hypnotized. He eventually snapped out of it, but Zeus ordered him to stay on Earth for one year as punishment for entering the mortal realm without permission. Hank invited him to stay at Avengers HQ, offering him Thor’s old room. Hercules would then save the Avengers from the Mad Thinker, Hammerhead, Piledriver, Thunder Boot, and a cosmic-cube-empowered Namor over the next two issues despite not officially joining the team yet.

Stay With Me CH-5
THIRD PERSON'S POV
Y/N operates the Quinjet with ease and maneuvers it to the Raft Prison. The staff looks disturbed to see the Earth's mightiest heroes locked up in cages and screaming in pain as they float through the hallways with a purple glow encasing them.
"Pay up Fury, I told you I could capture them," Y/N said as she walked up to Fury.
"Fine here's 10 dollars," Fury says as he hands Y/N 10 dollars.
"What's with you saying my undercover name, I thought you hated it" Y/N snickered, a sly smirk playing on her face
"You do my work and I respect you," Fury hands Y/N a purple envelope with the Avengers logo on it "Which is why you are now an Avenger, this is your recruitment letter, Enjoy"
"Now, what do I do with them?" Y/N asked as the boxes floated around the room
"Release the mind spell and let them gain consciousness. I want to talk with them" Fury said settling down on one of the chairs near Tony's cage
"It's called Panic Room and I might put you in one if you say the name wrong again" Y/N Threatened as the boxes started levitating along with her and started following her movements, she opened her eyes and they were White and were emitting purple glow which caused Agent Hill and Agent Phil to be on defence positions
"Ask your people to stay down Fury, I am not a threat unless you make me one" Y/N said in a low voice as everyone dropped their guns.
Y/N muttered something under her breath and the boxes broke, the glass turned to thin air as the touched the ground and slowly the Avengers were kept on the floor. Their tactical gear shoved away from them and suddenly Y/N stuck to the ceiling as the rest awakened.
The first one up was the Maximoff siblings, turns out they never were in the Panic Room, they were just asleep on command.
Then next was Thor, Loki, Bruce, Steve, Bucky and Peter. After them, Tony, Natasha, Rhodes, and Sam stirred a bit to wake up but were still crying as if being tortured.
"Oh for the love of God wake up!" Y/N said, exasperated by how much time the three people took and snapped to wake them up. The four Avengers jerked awake and looked around in surprise to see their surroundings changed.
"Good evening Avengers, sorry if this seems inconvenient to you but this was a test for a fresh Avenger to see if she was worth being in the group and as you can see, she has succeeded," Fury said as some agents and medical help surrounded the Avengers to treat any kind of injuries and weakness.
"Y/N Maximoff?" Tony asked as he got to his feet.
"Yes, her mission was to bring all of you here on the Raft, without a scratch on their body and willingly. Honestly, this isn't what I had expected but it was still perfect" Fury said as a voice above him whispered, "Hi Everyone".
A girl dressed in Black and Purple slowly crawled down the walls of the Raft Prison and stood behind Fury
"Meet Y/N Maximoff, Who is also known as Amysthyst" Agent Hill said while sitting on a desk behind Steve.
Y/N 's Suit slowly glowed purple and she started looking like a young college girl and sat down on an empty spot on the couch next to Wanda.
"So you're Y/N, How did you copy my webs? It is nearly impossible to do so!" Peter whined, Y/N slowly walked over to Peter and looked straight into his eyes as a Purple ring replaced his pupils, he slowly closed his eyes and one tear slipped through his eyelashes, Y/N whispered in his ears "My work is done" and Blue glow encased him. A panicked Tony Stark rushed forward "Leave the Kid alone! " " Stark, I am not a threat unless you make me one. I had borrowed half his abilities, I'm giving them back with a bit of my own as an exchange"
Peter slowly woke up and looked around, the rest were looking with awe.
"W-what? Why are y'all looking at me like that?" Peter asked as Tony checked his vitals. "I don't know if it's possible but kid you just might have got an upgrade in your body's system" "Which means what?" Peter asked looking at his arms and legs to see if anything had changed but he felt like something was not of his own
"Whenever I or Pietro had asked, you said it was too dangerous! This isn't fair!" Wanda said exasperated
"It only works for some certain power combinations, you and Perry are overpowered individuals, and most likely the new powers would try to kill you because it competing for the first preference of your body's defensive approach" Y/N rambled on
"So people get glowy eyes after this or what?" Steve asked looking at Peter with worry
"Not exactly, You can get all kinds of things," Bruce said
"Ah Dr. Banner, You seem to know quite a lot! I guess Fury told you." Y/N said
"But really what can you do?" Tony asked
"Quite a lot but this isn't the correct place to demonstrate my capabilities," Y/N said
"We can take you back to the compound,
Fury has already counted you as a new Avenger so we can give you your room, space to practice, whatever you need" Natasha said
"Fury, can I take them upstairs?" Y/N asked, Fury nodded in response
They proceeded upstairs on the roof of the Raft Prison. A raging storm was there but neither of them got drenched. Y/N had built up a defensive shield around the whole group "Listen Up, I can teleport but I will lose a lot of energy so we gotta fly" Y/N said while they passed the Quinjet
"We won't use the Quinjet?" Natasha asked looking puzzled
"Nope, I have a ride for each of you," Y/N said and pulled out a lighter. She gave it a shake and it started glowing purple as a bunch of Wakandan Ships cornered in "You have two choices, Either fly with me or with King T'Challa and General Okoye" Y/N said as sparks began to build from the lighter's flame which slowly grew into a large and beautiful bird with vibrant plumage. Its feathers possessed a brilliant shimmer, appearing as if they are aflame. The bird's body was graceful and elegant, with shades of fiery red, orange, and gold reflecting off its body. It took everyone quite a lot of time but everyone backed out, except Peter. He was too stunned by the appearance of the bird that rose out of a flame.
"Parker! Get on quick! Blaze doesn't like to wait!" Y/N screamed as the Wakandan Ship flew off and T'Challa came on comms "What is taking th spider so long?" "I don't know but I don't care. He's coming with me" Y/N pulled Peter up and set him behind her on Blaze and flew off.

I think it was the differing attitude to the acts—I don’t think people pay attention to the fact Thor throws Loki into the mountain when they’re about to land, because they still fall the distance together, and Thor is fine from it. Loki’s ‘struggle’ on the landing also isn’t the focus of the following scene. The brothers continue to talk and argue, Loki showing he’s not mentally/emotionally affected by the physical violence, and this is after Loki has been thoroughly established as the villain.
When Loki drops Thor it’s after he’s made Thor watch him murder a guy, who supposedly posed little threat to him, and then he walks around flippantly and looks at Thor with a apathetic ‘then perish’ expression upon pushing a button. Thor is also shown struggling to break out of the glass cage while falling, and then the framing goes back to show Thor looking at his hammer in an empty field as though his worldview has changed and he’s reflecting on the heavy, villainous act. (Even if it could be seen as a reflection on the entirety of the Helicarrier attack/what he’s witnessed about Loki since the start of the movie.)
I’ve let my thoughts on Loki run tl;dr a few times, but let’s not actually talk about Loki in this post. Let’s talk about Thor for a minute. Specifically, let’s talk about Thor’s first appearance on Earth in The Avengers.
Thor’s first scene is clearly meant to establish that Thor is a…
#I think it’s framing honestly#Loki is framed as bad so jumping out of a jet with him is chill#Loki is framed as bad so his actions against the hero are bad#to be fair I don’t recommend dropping people from a jet but Thor DOES have Mjolnir so I assume he softened the higher fall for them both.#can’t recall if Thor softens his own fall but I think it was he softens it and then pushes Loki down a bit#which seems like fair play to me#I’m not bothered by the different heights#Thor’s meaner overall anyway isn’t he

how they react when you walk in covered in blood and carrying a gun ~ mcu
request?: no
warnings: swearing, mentions of guns and violence
masterlist (one, two)
*only using the og six plus bucky, wanda and loki because there’s way too many marvel characters rn; also based off of a tiktok by anniedvorak!*
BRUCE BANNER/HULK:
The last person you expected to see when you entered Thor’s room on Sakaar with the intentions of saving him was your boyfriend, Bruce. He had been lost for so long, you had let your heart let go of him. But there he was, stood with a cloth wrapped around his waist after having turned back from the Hulk.
You were tempted to walk back out. This wasn’t exactly how you wanted Bruce to see you - an alien gun in hand and blood splattered over your face and clothes. But it was too late, he was already looking at you with wide eyes.
“(Y/N),” he said, turning to approach you but stopping halfway. You weren’t sure if he had stopped because of the blood or because he was still technically naked. “What are you...what did you...?”
“I’m trying to save Thor,” you responded. “Listen, we don’t have much time. I can explain everything once all of us are off of this planet. Put some pants on, we’re getting out of here.”
~~~~~~
BUCKY BARNES/THE WINTER SOLDIER:
You walked in after a surprise run in with the Flag Smashers. Bucky already looked about ready to kill someone, but when you walked through the door of Zemo’s apartment, blood covering your face and your gun clutched tightly in your hand, his face turned red with anger.
“What the hell happened to you?” Sam asked.
“Flag Smashers,” you breathed in response.
“I’m gonna fucking kill them,” Bucky hissed, abandoning his drink on the counter and making his way to the door.
You put a hand up to stop him. “I think that ship has sailed. This isn’t all my blood.”
Bucky cupped your face in his hands, his face softening as he looked at you. “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine,” you insisted. “I just need a shower, and maybe a visit to a hospital or something. They hit me pretty hard, I think I have some bruised ribs or something.”
He kissed your forehead and took your gun from your still shaking hands. Once it was safely put aside, he brought you into the bathroom to help you bathe and to start dressing your wounds.
~~~~~~
CLINT BARTON/HAWEYE:
You were extremely lucky that Clint worked with someone like Natasha regularly, or else he would’ve been much more concerned when you arrived home from work covered in blood and still carrying you gun. He barley looked up from the TV as you walked through the door, immediately racing for your bedroom so you could shower and change.
“Hard day at work?” he called as you passed by.
“That last target they sent me after put up a hell of a fight,” you responded. “By the time I finally got him, I realized how late it was and rushed home immediately. I’m glad S.H.I.E.L.D issues those SUVs with the tinted windows or else I definitely would’ve been pulled over for suspicious activity.”
Clint chuckled and rose from his seat. He walked into your shared bedroom as you were pulling off you bloodstained clothes and throwing them into a pile to be tossed out eventually. His eyes raked over your body as you looked up at him.
“Red looks good on you,” he said, a teasing smirk pulling at his lips.
“That’s gross,” you teased. “You’re gross. Just for that, you can’t shower with me.”
He groaned as you walked into the bathroom and locked the door before he could follow you in.
~~~~~~
LOKI:
The sly smirk on Loki’s face was enough to almost rid you of the annoyance you felt after what you just had to do. Almost.
You walked up to the panel that controlled his glass cage. You could’ve easily figured out how to deal with it, but instead you shot the control panel. Sparks flew from it before Loki’s prison sprung open.
“Seems like a bit of overkill,” he commented.
“Shut it,” you hissed. “You told me it was going to be easy to break you out. You failed to mention the entire team of guards that were watching this room, and, oh yeah, the team of super humans that were assembled to face you?!”
Loki walked free of his cage, taking a dramatic deep breath before smiling to himself. “Well, doesn’t seem like you had an issue with them, as I knew you wouldn’t.”
He approached you, arms out as if he were going to hug you and try to kiss you. You poked his stomach with the barrel of your gun, glaring up at him.
“Come one step closer and we see how much damage a mortal weapon can do to a God.”
Loki put his hands on your shoulders, keeping you a fair distance away to heed your warning. “I’m sorry for not giving you a proper warning. Thank you for freeing me, I do appreciate it.”
You allowed yourself to relax against his touch and smiled a little. “You’re welcome.”
“Now, let’s get out of here, shall we?”
“You’re doing all the work this time.”
~~~~~~
NATASHA ROMANOFF/BLACK WIDOW:
It probably wasn’t a good idea, but you didn’t know where else to go. Natasha had always warned you about the Red Room, and you were so stupid to not listen to her.
Now you were stood on her doorstep, covered in blood that wasn’t yours, your gun dangling from your hand as you wished to drop it but also too scared to let it go. It was what Natasha looked at first when she opened the door - the gun, then to your blood covered face.
“Put the gun down,” she said, her voice calmer than you expected.
You gratefully allowed her to take it from your hand as you felt tears starting to well in your eyes. She pulled you in for a hug, where you started to sob on her shoulder. She took a quick look around to make sure you weren’t followed before bringing you into her house.
“Go get cleaned up,” she told you. “We’ll figure out your next step together.”
~~~~~~
STEVE ROGERS/CAPTAIN AMERICA:
You showed up to Sam’s shortly after Steve had brought Natasha. You could barley keep yourself up, the fight had taken everything out of you. You were sure Sam was going to turn you away - you were a stranger showing up on his doorstep covered in blood with a gun in your hand. You were pleasantly shocked when he stepped aside and told you where to find Steve.
Poor Steve. He was already trying to help Natasha, who had been in the same situation as you just with a lot less blood. She was resting when you walked in, dazed and just wanting to also rest.
He was up in seconds, reaching out to wrap you in his arms despite the blood covering you.
“The Winter Soldier is one mean fucker,” you breathed, resting your head against Steve’s chest. “I think he finally got wore out and ran off. Unfortunately, I was wore out about an hour before he was, but I kept going.”
“You should’ve given up long ago, honey,” he said.
“I’m not a pussy,” you said with a slight laugh. “Although I am starting to succumb to the pain.”
He picked you up into his arms and carried you to the bathroom where he helped you to rinse the blood off of your body so you could finally rest.
~~~~~~
THOR:
It was a side of you that Thor had never seen before. He had lost you during the battle in Sokovia and was expecting the worst when he couldn’t get you over the coms. When you showed back up to jet, blood covering your tired looking face, he was overjoyed to see you were alright, but also a little shocked by your appearance.
“Those fuckers really thought they had me,” you said, a half laugh bubbling on your lips. “They were a little shocked when I got the upper hand on them. Even more shocked when I shot them dead.”
“I was worried for you, (Y/N),” Thor said, cupping your face in his hands as he approached you. “I truly thought they had taken you from me.”
You smirked up at him. “You really have no faith in me at all them, do you? Or you just underestimate me. I’m a little offended on both accounts, though.”
Thor smiled back at you. “Of course, I would never doubt you. Just a bit of fear is all.”
“When you two are done being gross,” came Tony’s voice from inside the jet, “we’d like to get back to the tower. I think (Y/N) needs a shower and a fresh change of clothes more than anything.”
~~~~~~
TONY STARK/IRON MAN:
“Miss (Y/L/N) incoming Mr. Stark.”
“Tell her to come back at another time, J.A.R.V.I.S, I’m busy right now.”
“I don’t think it can wait, sir.”
Tony looked up to see you walking through the door to his lab, your body trembling as you clutched the gun tightly in your hand. There was a splatter of blood over your shirt and some on your face. You looked up at him, looking like a helpless child.
He quickly walked over to you, his hand automatically reaching for the gun. You gladly let him take it, feeling like a weight had been lifted the moment the weapon was out of your hands.
“What happened?” he asked.
“I-I was attacked at-at home,” you stuttered. “I don’t know how they got in, I don’t know who they were. I walked into my house and was blindsided by these two men trying to attack me. I got the gun out of the hands of one of them and I...I...”
Your hands moved to mimic the action of shooting your attackers, but you couldn’t actually bring yourself to say you had done it. You didn’t want to admit to having shot anyone, even if it was in self defense.
Tony placed the gun aside and took you into his arms. You stopped fighting against the lump that had formed in your throat and began to sob into his chest. He ran a hand through your hair, calming you down.
“It’s okay,” he said, soothingly. “It’s alright. I got you now. I won’t let anyone else try to hurt you.”
~~~~~~
WANDA MAXIMOFF/SCARLETT WITCH:
You didn’t think of Tommy and Billy. You didn’t think about the perfect neighborhood Wanda had created. You didn’t even think about Vision, or the version of Vision she had created. Your only thoughts were getting to Wanda before Hayward and his people could.
She was horrified when she opened the door. Of course she was; you were stood at her doorstep, a ghost from the life she wanted to forget, holding a gun with blood splattered on your face.
“You have to get out of here,” you said before she could speak. “You have to break down that boarder and you need to get out of here now.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she said, her voice still in its sitcom mode. “Please leave before I call the police.”
You grabbed hold of her shoulders before she could walk away, startling her.
“Wanda, you have to listen to me. You know what’s happening here because you are controlling it all. I know that, everyone outside the Hex knows that. Including the S.W.O.R.D director Hayward, who is trying to break through your barrier right now to kill you. I know you don’t want to lose this perfect life you’ve made, but your are in real danger. You need to get out of here.”
It seemed like she was understanding. A hurt look passed over her face as she turned to look into the house where her perfect family was likely residing. She took a deep breath and turned back to you.
“Let’s go.”

Going Back Home..
TW: dark!loki, forced age regression, kidnapping, manipulation, gaslighting(Lemme know if I need more though I’m pretty sure this chapter is pretty tame compared to some of my others)
Paring: Soft!Dark!Daddy!Loki x Asgardian!little!fem!reader
Summary: You ran away from him 3 years ago and came to Midgard and joined SHIELD. You were an agent known for getting people to say the truth, it was your power. No one could lie as long as you were near them. So when Fury said that a prisoner wouldn’t talk and that sending you in would be the best option, you didn’t hesitate. But when you saw him, it was already too late.
A/N: I tried to make it seem like the reader was battling with her own thoughts. Hope it came off okay.. And requests are open!!

“He’s very egotistical and only cares about himself. He’s also got powers of his own. They might contradict yours.” Fury explained. “Are you at least going to explain to me who he is?” You asked, rolling your eyes. “It’s not relative. He’s pretty manipulative. And knowing his name is the first way to make a connection.” He said, finally stopping you at a door.
He had been leading you to the prisoner's whereabouts. You were a SHIELD agent that had the power to get people to tell the truth. No one could lie when you were in their presence. Except for one person… No.. Stop thinking about him, Y/N. He’s gone. He hurt you and you left him. Why did you keep thinking about him? It’s been 3 years! Get over him! He’s no good for you!
The things he forced you to do.. The name he forced you to call him.. Why is it that you want to go back to him? To feel that comfort.. No! Stop it! There was nothing comforting about the way he made you wear a pull-up. There was nothing comforting about how he made you act as though you were a baby. And there was absolutely nothing comforting about what he did if you didn’t listen to him.
“You ready?” Fury asked, bringing you out of your thoughts. “Of course. Though I’d like to be alone with him? It’ll help me keep my powers focused solely on him.” You said. You still had no clue who you were meant to be extracting information from, though. Fury nodded and opened the door. You stepped inside, not noticing who was in the glass cage until the door was slammed shut. You looked at Loki with widened eyes. He smiled at you and you were compelled to walk closer to him.
He’s locked up.. He’s locked up.. He can’t do anything to you.
You had to assure yourself. “Hello, Y/N.” Loki said, smiling at you. You couldn’t bring yourself to say anything back, let alone smile back at him. “Hmm. It seems you have lost your manners since I’ve been gone. Don’t worry, I’ll be sure to teach them back to you. Now let me out of this cage.” He demanded. Your legs wanted to move, to press the button and let him out. But you willed yourself to stay put and look him in the eyes. “I can’t- I can’t do that, Loki.” Loki growled, his eyes darkening. “And why’s that?”
“You- You did some bad things, Loki. I’m only here to ask you why.” You said, your posture straightening as your breathing slowed down. “Is that so? It seems you’ve forgotten about all the things I’ve done for you. I gave you everything you asked for and this is how you betray me? Let. Me. Out.” He demanded again, banging his fist on the glass with each word.
“No! Loki I can’t! They’ll hate me!” You said, tears stinging your eyes. You wanted to let him out. You wanted to hug him, tell him how sorry you were for leaving. You wanted to accept him again, have him fill that pit in your heart that emptied when you left him.
“They already hate you! If you let me out now, I promise I will forgive you for running away.” Loki said, face softening in faux remorse, and he knew how badly he was getting to you. You looked to him with pleading eyes. “Forgive me?” You asked. It was something you wanted, sure. But at what cost? What if he was lying to you? What if when you let him out he goes right back to hurting you?
“You promise you won’t hurt me?” You asked. “Darling, I have never hurt you, and I never will. Will you please open the door like the good little girl I know you are?” He didn’t promise and you knew that but for some reason you still felt compelled to walk to the panel. The grip he had on you was strong, firm.
Even locked in a cell he was still able to get you to do what he wanted. You hated the fact that he had that effect on you. You stood in front of the control panel. “Come on, baby. I know you can do it. Just press the button. Let me out and we can both go home.” He said, his voice softening. Home? You hadn’t had one of those in a while.
Being with SHIELD, you were often very busy. You only went home to sleep, and get a change of clothes. And sometimes you didn’t even sleep at home, you would bring an extra pair of clothes with you and end up falling asleep at the SHIELD Agency. When Loki said the word ‘home’ you felt comforted. A flash of memories hit you when he said it.
You remembered the way he took care of you. And the way he always knew what you needed when you were upset. You remembered those nights he would rock you to sleep, feeding you with a bottle. It was oddly comforting. Why? Why? Why? Why!? You shouldn’t be feeling this way! You should be running, getting Fury! Telling him you can’t do this! The internal war you were having for yourself was agonizing. But you took a deep breath and realized what part of you had won. The part of you that had always won. Except this time, you accepted it.
You pushed the button. An alarm went off but Loki was free. You ran to him, arms out to hug him and he hugged you back, pulling you into a kiss, one filled with hunger and desire before pulling away and back into a hug. “My sweet girl. I knew you could do it. Because you’re my good little girl and you’d do anything for your Daddy. Isn’t that right?” You nodded into the crook of his neck, tears streaming down your face as you spouted out ‘sorry’ and ‘please forgive me’ over and over.
Loki pulled away from you and looked you over. “Such a beautiful face you have. It is a shame you denied me the access of looking at it for so long. But as promised, I forgive you. Though I am going to have to punish you for disobeying me the first time I asked you to let me out. Understand, little one?”
“Yes, Daddy.” You said without hesitation. It was as if you were on autopilot. The door to the room slammed open and you saw the Avengers in the doorway. “Lady Y/N?” Thor asked, confused. He had helped you escape Loki, set you up with a new name and everything, along with the help of Natasha. Neither of them knew you joined SHIELD, however, and you made sure of it.
“No. Y/N, listen, he doesn’t love you. You know this. Just step away..” Natasha said, looking to you with pleading eyes. You knew she was righ- No! She’s wrong! Loki does love you. Why would you even think otherwise? Why would you even think about leaving Loki again?
Loki wrapped an arm around your waist as he smirked. “Loki, Y/N, no!” Thor yelled as the two of you disappeared.
You appeared back in the home you lived in before you left Loki. Within an instance, Loki had used his magic to get you in an outfit he preferred, a black and green onesie and a pull-up in place of your panties, as he carried you towards your room. He gently placed you in an adult sized crib, handcuffing one of your wrists to a bar. He shoved a pacifier in your mouth and smiled at you. “See? Doesn’t it feel better to be home?” He asked and you nodded.
Home.. That word again. The word that pulled you in so deeply and you didn’t understand why. It was as though as soon as he said that word, you wanted to obey him- no- needed to obey him. You instantly became his.
“Good girl. We will be having a talk about your manners tomorrow, little girl. But until then, sleep..” He said, placing a kiss on your forehead and leaving, closing the door.
You were home..
You were back with him- your Daddy.
You were his, once again.

“Quit that.” Loki poked his brother in the chest when he pouted. “You know I was kidding. Mostly.” His gaze fell towards the halberd and he let out a breath, shaking his head. “Because you’re thinking too much about it, Thor. It’s not Mjolnir, but nothing ever will be. You’ll get the hang of it eventually once you get out of your head.” He walked ahead as his older brother went to retrieve it, rolling his eyes at the comment. “Shut up,” Loki mumbled, knowing that was Barton’s doing more than Morgan’s. He wrinkled his nose at the sight of the lab. Everything was white, too bright, and covered in ice. It honestly looked like something out of a Midgardian horror movie. “I think so,” Loki tore his gaze away from where the cages and surgical looking instruments were, walking over to Thor instead. “Stark said any vial that looked suspicious and that looks suspicious.” He eyed it for a moment, before motioning for his brother to move back. With a glowing, emerald hand, Loki reached forward to take it. Even through his magic, even being a jötunn, he could feel the ice biting at his fingertips. “We should get it back to the quinjet,” he said after a moment, looking up at Thor. Loki walked with him out of the lab, content to never come back. But on the way to the quinjet, the bitter cold of the vial snapped into something much worse. “Fuck,” he swore under his breath, switching to his other hand. Loki was about to say something to get his brother’s attention, but stopped dead in his tracks when he saw the unmistakable shade of blue crawling up his hand and to his arm. And he still didn’t know how to stop it. “Thor - “ he started, but trailed off and just looked at him.
Thor pretended not to hear his brother's remarks. They were full of wisdom, but he was too frustrated to hear them. It was rather tempting to smash the entire lab, but Stark and Banner had been adamant that he should not do that. He satisfied himself with finding the vials, at least the mission could be counted a success. Despite knowing that cold didn't affect his brother, Thor still hesitated to step back. He did, holding his breath until it seemed no danger would come from merely carrying this sample. All that was left to do was get to the quinjet. Thor was telling some story about the fight, about the most excellent uppercut slice he'd managed to pull off in tight quarters when Loki stopped suddenly. Said his name with strangled panic, and Thor could see why. At first he didn't understand, he thought perhaps it was the serum, leaking out somehow, but no. No that was Loki's skin rapidly changing, the deep blue snaking up his arm. "Brother, what -- what is happening?" He knew what it looked like. It looked like the illustrations in their childhood books, the frightfully accurate ones where the Jötunn stared back with gleaming red eyes and bared teeth. Their skin the same blue as Loki's. As Laufey's had been, when he stared down at them, so long ago now. Thor stepped forward, put a hand to the nape of Loki's neck. "Are you hurt? Do you need me to take it?" he asked, reaching for the sample container. "Hand it to me, brother, let me help."

Pairing: Natasha Romanoff x Reader, Avengers x Reader
Featuring: GoTG, Peggy Carter
Warnings: Angst, sad I suppose
Summary: 2 years after her death, your struggling even more. And it’s killing the team to keep their secret. (I changed Endgame because I can. Come at me. I might make it into chapters.)

‘It can’t be undone’ she said
*2 years ago*
You had gone through years with her. Years with the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy. You had gone through love with her. You had gone through the 5 years with her. You had gone to Vormir with her. Yet you had won the final fight without her.
When you all came back from the time travel success you had to try and keep yourself from collapsing. You saw the others standing with smiles on their faces but all you saw was her. Her lips and eyes pleading you to let her go. Her body descending forever. And her sprawled out onto the floor, a pool of blood surrounding her head confirming Natasha Romanoff no longer wondered the earth.
“Are you telling me this actually worked?” Rhodey questioned, followed by Thor’s wheezy laugh. Their faces became confused when they heard a long bang. You have dropped down onto your knees, stone in hand and body wet from wherever you had been teleported to after she had sacrificed herself.
“Y/n where’s Nat?” The big green guy said. Your eyes were stuck in front of you. A sorrowful look on your face. You couldn’t even move. You couldn’t speak. You could’ve all been there for hours or seconds. But Steve lifted you up by your arms and tried to read your expression. With the help of Nebula you were taken to your bedroom you shared with Natasha. The both of them tried to gently take you to the bed but instead you walked shakily to the bathroom and shut the door. Of course Steve was upset. He had a lost a part of his family. He had shed tears while he walked with you. He could only imagine what the scene must’ve been for yourself. The unspoken news of his friends death was indescribable, but having to be there in an unimaginable situation would’ve been even harder. And he understood that. Nebula grieved, she barely knew the woman. But she grieved. She saw the distraught and pain on your face and in your eyes. She placed her hand on Steve’s shoulder and took him out of your room.
In the bathroom you had caged yourself into. You had your hand gripped to the sink. Your eyes trained to the sink bowl. Your eyes drifted to the left for you where her makeup and hairbrush had been layed out this morning. You took a step back, nervously clasping your hands together. You tried to calm down before someone got hurt. You looked down at your hands and you were maintaining some level of sanity before you remembered that your hand had let her go. If anyone would walk past your bedroom door, they were bound to hear glass smashing and screams and words of anguish.
You didn’t speak to anyone. You completely shut yourself down. The only reason you spoke to someone was to communicate over the earpiece when you were fighting. There was a short debate over the coms as to who was going to steal the stones from Thanos. You nearly went into a fit of rage and upset before Carol ordered you to look into her eyes. Your excuse to use the stones was so you could be with her again. When Tony clicked his fingers the enemy became dust, and the world became a little more louder and a bit more lighter. The battlefield was filled with new and old faces. Tony’s snap had been so powerful he was able to bring back the people that mattered the most to those around him. Steve had Peggy in his tired arms. Clint had Laura and his children. Wanda had Vision. Quill had Gamora. Thor had his mother and brother back. Tony had Pepper. He was unharmed and Bruce’s arm had healed. Everyone had someone. You had someone. You had your whole family. But your special someone was Natasha. You had never felt so lost. Natasha would be holding you, you holding her. She would tuck your head into her shoulder while letting your arms envelope around her. But all you got were sad looks.
Some of the ‘newbies’ had questioned their closest. After a lot of loud whispering, there was silence. The battlefield was silent in memory of Natasha. The only noises were the hundreds of sniffles and sobs of those who had the news broken to them. The dying fires crackling. The next minute footsteps were approaching you. You had internally begged for it to be Natasha. But you looked up to see a short boy. His suit red and blue with a spider on it. His brown curly hair was tinted with grey. His teary eyes gave you the saddest smile before and steadily put his arms around your shoulders. You accepted the young boys embrace. You were thankful for it.
The news were around the place as quick as they could’ve been. Pictures were taken. Statements were took. The public had tried to surround the heroes but were pushed away by the helping police. It has been released to the enormous crowd that one of the most heroic heroes had died. The crowds became distraught. They sounded like how you felt inside. They tried to surround you and shout out their condolences but you kept walking. Where to? Who knows.
*2 years later/present time*
You spoke to no one. You spoke out in bursts of anger. Anger if someone tried to tell you to come away from your desk and to stop working and trying to find a way. Peggy, Steve’s wife, had became close to you. She understood how it felt to lose a loved one. She understood she wasn’t Natasha. She understood why you were working yourself so hard. She would never judge you, if you looked all disheveled or smelt from not taking a shower. She encouraged you to do your best, but she never pushed you. 2 years ago, you found a solution to stop Thanos. 2 years ago you lost her. 2 years ago Steve returned the stones. You haven’t been able to go through any videos or voice messages of her. Just a photo that you have framed. There were and still are memorials for her, but you would never attend any.
You had only cried to yourself. But right now you were on the edge of having a definite breakdown. Tony and the whole team of Avengers, Wakanda, GotG and Carol had wanted to check in as you had been back to Vormir. Which you greatly regret. Scott had made an extra time travel refill for you. All you were told by red skull was a ‘soul for a soul’. You argued with a ghost. You lashed out a ghost. You didn’t dare look to the edge. Knowing you would either throw yourself of or cry so much you wouldn’t be able to move.
They all met you at the Compound. At the platform that sat on top on the lake.
Steve and Peggy. Tony and Pepper. Rhodes. Bucky and Sam. Clint and Laura. Thor and Loki. Bruce. The Guardians were there. Rocket was by your side. Peter was there with Happy. Carol was at the edge of the platform. Wanda and Vision. And the rest were all there. You had your back turned to them. You were silent trying to understand why they all had such guilty faces, except Thor. They all had a secret. One they had agreed to not tell you, for fear it may completely break you. But they decided enough was enough. They had to tell you.
“Look we need to get her back to stop this shit with the Avengers get it together.” Thor spat at Steve, as he still saw him as the Captain.
“Can’t get her back.” You spoke up, causing everyone’s attention on the two of you.
“Wh..wha..what are you..?” Thor mumbled out.
“It can’t be undone. It can’t.” You said quietly looking at him from over your shoulder.
He laughed at your words before saying, “Look.. I, I’m sorry but your a very earthly being okay, we’re talking about space magic and can’t seems very definitive. Don’t you think?”
“Yeah look I know that I’m way outside my.. my paid rate here. But she still isn’t here is she?” You said. Tony took of his sunglasses, getting upset.
“Yeah well that’s my point.” Thor said in a hushed manner.
“It can’t.. be undone.” Your voice cracking, your tears had crawled their way down your face now. “Or that’s at least what the red floating guy had to say. Maybe you wanna go talk to him. Ok, go grab your hammer and you go find him you talk to him!” You yelled at him. He looked down to the floor. You shouldn’t be angry with him. He missed Natasha. But you couldn’t help it.
“It was supposed to be me.” You admitted with a breaking voice. Bucky let a tear fall freely from his eye. “She sacrificed her life for that goddamn stone, she bet her life on it.” You started to breakdown in the middle of everyone. Angry at how she could’ve died for nothing. How it wasn’t supposed to be like this. Even Wanda began to breakdown. She felt your pain from far away. Your longing. And your grieving. Rockets fur was wet as he was upset just like everyone else.
He couldn’t take it anymore. The lies. Not the acting. But the lies. Clint stood up and said, “Y/n we’ve been lying to you. Natasha is here. She’s perfectly fine. She’s alive. You just can’t see her.” No one else bothered to look up as he said what was needed to be said. You slowly turned around to him. “What?” Was all you could choke out. Steve stood up and walked towards you before keeping a distance. “When I returned the stone. He told me that we could all get her back, after all it was a soul for a soul. But the one who travelled there has been cursed. You can’t see or hear her and I don’t know if you ever will. But she’s alive.”
You took time to observe his words.
She was standing in front of you. Her arms crossed but her eyes were stuck on your face that was wet from the tears you had cried. Your eyes brows moving in a sorrowful way. She wasn’t crying for herself no. She cried for you. For your pain. She had never seen you so upset. And because she had been with you ever since she got back, she’s had to watch you cry almost every day.
Natasha wishes you could see her. She has been next to you this whole time. She was gone a few hours and then she was back. She couldn’t find you and instead ran into Sam who held her tightly. Instead she sped off to Tony’s cabin where she found Bucky and Steve, who explained everything.
She wishes you could hear how proud she is of you. She wishes you didn’t have to see you break yourself and live in your mental anguish. It hurt her. Every night you fell asleep at your desk, she would drape a blanket over you, and almost cry at your confused state in the morning of who had been to your office and covered you.
She wishes you hadn’t been traumatised by her silly yet heroic actions. She wishes she could tell you how much she loves you and how she wants to be held by you and she wants you to be able to hear her words, “I love you.” The others heard it. But they didn’t dare tell you.
She was determined to get her words to you. If not by speaking to you then by page. Determined to prove that she was with you all of this time. She wants to tell you how much she loves you.
She wishes there was a way.
If you would like a part 2, let me know.

Portal to My Heart (Book 2) Chapter Three
Chapter Three: Past the Present
Loki just groaned. Great, more pointless videos of my life.
“If you hadn’t picked up that Tesseract,” said Mobius, pressing a key of his computer, “you would have been taken to a cell on Asgard.”
The projection of Loki showed him walking in chains through the halls of Asgard.
Loki himself frowned when he spied (Y/N) alongside Thor in the crowd watching. So, she didn’t end up a lab rat…
“Loki,” murmured the hologram of Frigga.
“Hello, Mother,” answered Loki’s figure. “Have I made you proud?”
“Please don’t make this worse,” said Frigga, her eyes full of disappointment in her son.
“What is this?” asked Loki, crossing his arms uncomfortably and looking to Mobius. “This is nonsense, more tricks. This never happened.”
“Not to you,” said Mobius. “Not yet. Look, the TVA doesn’t just know your whole past, we know your whole life, how it’s all meant to be. Think of it as comforting.”
Loki shook his head as the scene changed. “This is absurd.”
“And am I not your mother?” asked Frigga’s projection, standing in an Asgardian cell.
Loki’s figure chuckled. “No, you’re not.”
Loki’s arms fell to his sides, and he stepped forward.
“Hmm.” Frigga stepped toward her son. “Always so perceptive about everyone but yourself.”
The hologram blurred before refocusing. This time, (Y/N) stood outside Loki’s cell.
“Why didn’t you tell them?” asked (Y/N) through the golden bars.
“Tell them what?” questioned Loki, feigning ignorance.
“That you didn’t have control of your mind. At least, not completely,” said (Y/N). “I could feel that scepter’s power when I held it for a few minutes; I can’t imagine what you felt. So why haven’t you told anyone?”
Loki’s hologram smirked. “Why? Do you wish I was free of this cage?”
(Y/N) rolled her eyes. “No, I want people to get the help you need. On Earth, we have something called therapy. I think you would benefit from it. Just locking people up doesn’t fix any problems.”
“I don’t have any problems,” said Loki, turning away.
(Y/N) pinched her brow. “God, are you seriously not saying anything because of your pride?” She sighed and looked at him seriously. “I hope you get over yourself. There are still some pieces of a good person in you.” She turned and walked away.
Loki blinked as the projection paused. He wasn’t sure what to think. (Y/N) had been on Asgard and visited him in his cell. Moreover, she hadn’t seemed as snide as she usually was. She was remarkably caring (in comparison to her usual attitude towards him).
“And then the Dark Elves attack the palace,” continued Mobius, turning on another video, “And you think you send them to Thor.”
“You might want to take the stairs to the left,” said Loki’s hologram to a large brute.
Loki watched in confusion and worry.
“But instead, you send them…” Mobius fast-forwarded.
Onscreen, the brute held Frigga forcefully.
“I’ll never tell,” she said. A sword struck through her, and she grunted in pain as she fell. Dead.
Loki took a shocked step back. He could feel his hands tremble and his knees grow weak. He wanted to tear his eyes from his mother’s body, but he couldn’t look away. A shuttering breath left Loki.
“Where do you have her? Where is she?” cried Loki.
Mobius shook his head sadly. “You led them right to her.”
“I don’t believe you. You’re lying. It’s not true,” denied Loki, shaking.
“It is true!” said Mobius. “That’s the proper flow of time, and it happens again and again and again because it’s supposed to and because it has to! The TVA makes sure of it.”
“Where is she?” croaked Loki.
“Now why don’t you tell me, do you enjoy hurting people?!” demanded Mobius.
“I don’t believe you!” Loki was breathing heavily, panicking.
“Do you enjoy killing?”
“I’ll kill you.”
“Like you did your mother?” Loki threw a chair at Mobius, which he dodged. As Loki charged, Mobius reset him to his sitting position (with no chair, he fell to the floor). “Sorry, the Time Twister only resets you, not the furniture.” Mobius straightened himself and looked at Loki. “Yeah, you end up getting her killed because of your pride and greed. You weren’t born to be king, Loki. You were born to cause pain and suffering and death. That’s how it is, that’s how it was, that’s how it will be. All so that others can achieve their best versions of themselves.”
Loki’s eyes focused on the projection. It circled around the Avengers assembling to defeat them. It showed (Y/N) fighting some woman in a black and green suit and horns with her abilities, incredibly under control. Shaking his head, he looked away to the floor he sat on. He didn’t want to focus on all the visions he saw. It clouded and confused Loki with powerful emotions Loki didn’t want to feel, uncomfortable, painful, ones.
“What is this place?” whispered Loki, his heart still clenching.
Mobius held out his hand to Loki. “Come on.”
Puzzled, Loki still took his hand and stood.
Mobius smiled. “Let’s go talk to (Y/N). I think we can work some things out now.”
Right as he turned towards the door, the agent who arrested Loki and (Y/N) walked in. “What are you doing?” she asked harshly.
“My job. Is it yours to interrupt, B-15?” asked Mobius.
“We have a situation,” she said.
Mobius sighed. “There’s always a situation.” He wagged a finger at Loki. “Don’t go anywhere.” As he left, he called over his shoulder, “It was just getting good. Spirited. It probably would’ve gotten better with (Y/N).” The doors shut behind him.
Sorry, but no way am I staying here, thought Loki.
l
(Y/N) sat for a few minutes in the new office before getting up. She was calm enough know to do something productive. And they couldn’t expect her to be left alone in a room full of technology and not mess around, could they? Well, even if they did, she wouldn’t. She needed something to take her mind of her anger, anyhow. (Y/N) strolled to the computer and began fiddling with the buttons. Soon enough, the projector turned on. Let’s see…I have no idea how this works, so let’s try the obvious first. She typed out her name. Miraculously, it worked. Baby (Y/N) appeared onscreen. If that worked, then this might. Pressing the right arrow key, (Y/N) watched the hologram speed through sequences. Letting go, it stopped on the picture of her standing before an old man with an eyepatch in a golden hall. In interest, (Y/N) leaned in to watch.
“Ah, Lady (Y/N). I’m afraid Thor has departed already,” said the man.
The hologram of (Y/N) crossed her arms. “Cut the crap. There’s no one here.”
“Are you certain you should speak to the King of Asgard this way?”
(Y/N) rolled her eyes. “You know me enough to say that I would speak however I wanted to anyone, no matter their rank. But you aren’t Odin, so I can care even less than usual.”
“You must be very sure of yourself.” “Odin” raised his chin regally.
“I am. I know you enough to see through this disguise,” said (Y/N).
Green light shimmered around Odin and revealed Loki. “I marvel at how you see through my ploys before Thor. When did you figure it out?”
(Y/N) shrugged. “Just a hunch and a hope.”
Loki smirked. “You hoped I would be alive?”
“As I’ve said, when you’re not trying to take over the Earth, you’re not that bad,” said (Y/N). She smiled and playfully sighed. “I guess I’ve gotten fond of your banter.”
Loki approached her. “And what will you do with the knowledge of my ruse?”
“Well, that’s up to you,” said (Y/N), smirking and taking a step towards him.
(Y/N) hit the spacebar on the keyboard to pause the clip. She wasn’t sure why, but a slight heat had risen to her cheeks. Even though it was a moment in what she assumed was supposed to be her future, she felt like she was intruding on a strangely intimate moment. (Y/N) fast-forwarded again to avoid the moment. This time, it stopped on a picture of her and Loki at a colorful and chaotic party in strange garments. They were dancing close together and speaking in hushed, secretive tones.
“I’m assuming we’re going to overthrow the Grandmaster?” said (Y/N), arching an eyebrow.
“Of course, I just need to get into his good graces,” said Loki, twirling her closer. (Y/N) laughed and shook her head at his confidence. Swaying her to the music, he smirked at her. “You’ve become rather comfortable with revolution. I thought you didn’t approve of taking over other lands.”
(Y/N) rolled her eyes. “Revolution is different from conquering, and I don’t like the Grandmaster. He has slaves; he has to go.”
“Of course,” said Loki. He spun her. “So we’re agreed?”
(Y/N) smirked at him and raised a hand where blue light gathered for a moment. “When the time is right.”
Nearly smashing the spacebar, (Y/N) stopped the clip. Her face burned. How could I ever get comfortable with him?! He’s a proud, arrogant—Gah! She pushed down on the right arrow to leave this second uncomfortably intimate moment. She was appalled at herself. What in Loki could possibly inspire any semblance of friendship? And what in her could cause him to view her as an equal, which he so clearly didn’t? Before any other thoughts could pass through her mind or any other videos played, the door to the office suddenly opened, and someone rushed in. Loki. (Y/N) nearly groaned aloud but gathered her wits and put on her strong attitude. “You trying to make a run for it?” Her voice wasn’t as clipped as usual, but she was building herself up quickly. She had learned how to hide vulnerable feelings of confusion very well through her life experiences.
Loki sighed and held up the Tesseract. “Tried to. It seems everything here becomes pointless.” He looked down at the ground, sadness in his eyes. He glanced at the projector and scowled. In a fit of sudden anger, he threw the Tesseract at it and hit the keyboard. The hologram glitched for a moment before skipping around.
“I love you, my sons,” said Odin.
Loki sucked in his breath before releasing it shakily as he watched. All the anger seeped from his face, replaced with an immense sadness. (Y/N) took a step back. She wouldn’t intrude on his vulnerable state.
“Remember this place,” said Odin. “Home.” In the morning light, he dissolved into golden light, floating into the sky.
Loki swallowed as tears nearly fell. Watching the scene pained him greatly. It was nearly a relief when the compute glitched again and skipped around.
“Loki, I thought the world of you,” said Thor.
“And I still do,” said (Y/N) onscreen.
(Y/N)’s eyes widened at the scene, and she looked away. Loki himself was nearly ready to cry at his brother’s words. And, if he was honest, (Y/N)’s as well. He was unaccustomed to affection directed at him, and it was pleasant to hear it. In fact, those small words were overwhelming.
The projector showed Thor, (Y/N), Loki, and woman neither recognized standing on an iridescent bridge. They were prepared to fight as allies, friends.
“Maybe you’re not so bad, Loki,” said (Y/N) inside a small room, smiling. “I guess it’s not just your banter that makes you tolerable.”
Watching, Loki laughed sheepishly. (Y/N) wondered if he was embarrassed or just loopy from what his brother had said.
Their brightening feelings diminished as the scene changed to them, beaten and bruised, on what appeared to be a battleground. Onscreen, (Y/N) was forcing blue energy to constrict around a strange purple man. It was working well, but the giant of a man raised the Tesseract and crushed it. He held a blue stone in his hand, and a portal appeared beneath (Y/N). She dropped through but summoned another so she wouldn’t be hurt. However, the purple man sent his hand, which gripped a knife, through a small portal. (Y/N)’s eyes widened, and she opened a portal and jumped through. She landed in front of a restrained Loki just as the knife passed through its portal. It sunk into her stomach, and she collapsed. Loki, who had been straining to free himself, broke free of the restraints in time to catch her. Tears were in his eyes, and he was frantically trying to stop the bleeding. But it was clear what was happening.
“Loki…” breathed the projection of (Y/N).
“No, no, no!” was all Loki could say.
“Loki, please—” (Y/N) coughed up some blood.
“Don’t start! I know you’re going to start being sentimental because you think you’re…” Loki swallowed. “You’re not. So don’t give any speeches.”
(Y/N) smiled. “Oh, Loki…” She raised a hand to his cheek, which he held tightly. “I think I need to…”
Loki shook his head. “You don’t, you don’t.”
“L-Loki…I—” Her eyes widened, and she threw up a hand. A portal sucked an alien through before it could attack them.
“(Y-Y/N)?” Loki looked at her. She had stopped speaking. “No…” She looked limp. “No…” She looked pale. “No!” She looked dead.
The projection glitched for a moment before showing Loki enraged and held in the air by his neck by the purple man.
“You’ll…regret this!” choked Loki.
A sharp crack resounded through the air before the computer shut off. “END OF FILE” was the only thing displayed as (Y/N) and Loki watched in horror.
“Oh my god…” (Y/N) nearly collapsed to the floor. She could feel her heartbeat in her ears, and everything was out of focus. I died…I died!
Loki was dealing much better. He was just standing there, clenching his fists and breathing shakily. Both had suffered a rollercoaster of emotions. Still trembling, he sat down next to (Y/N).
“Loki…We died,” she whispered, almost not believing it. She buried her head in her hands. “We both just fucking died. We got nowhere.” (Y/N) was near hysterics. “Even fighting, I did nothing but lose…”
“That’s all either of us did…” murmured Loki.
The two sat there in melancholy silence before the door burst open and in walked Mobius. Obviously, he had been searching for Loki. He held a baton in his hands. “Loki? (Y/N)?” He said cautiously.
“Mobius…” murmured (Y/N). She looked up at him with glassy eyes. “We can’t go back, can we…” Not that I’d want to with that fate…
Mobius looked down and sighed. He wished to say something encouraging, but he couldn’t.
Loki looked up suddenly. “I don’t enjoy hurting people.” Earnesty swam in his eyes, in his soul, in his very air. “I…I don’t enjoy it.” He turned suddenly to (Y/N). “I didn’t enjoy hurting you. I did it…Well, because some part of me is twisted and broken, I can’t deny that. It wasn’t just the scepter. But I also…hurt people because I have to.”
(Y/N) felt calm for once. Even if she wasn’t fully ready to forgive Loki, no matter the type of person he clearly could become, she was willing to listen. Especially when he was being honest. “Alright.” She said one word, but it was encouragement to Loki.
“It’s part of the illusion. It’s the cruel, elaborate trick conjured by the weak to inspire fear,” admitted Loki.
“A play for control,” murmured (Y/N). We’re more similar than I thought.
“You do know yourself,” said Mobius. He wanted the discussion to continue but needed to be careful. (Y/N) and Loki were similar enough to recognize the other as someone who would understand their thoughts. Mobius didn’t want to break that magic by being careless.
“A villain,” said Loki.
“Someone without purpose,” said (Y/N).
“That’s not what I see in you two,” said Mobius.
“What do you see?” asked (Y/N).
“Potential,” said Mobius.
“Potential? We’re supposed to lose and die,” muttered Loki.
“Do you really see potential in us?” (Y/N) gazed seriously at Mobius as he nodded. She took a deep breath. “Then what can we do to change? To stop losing? To win?”
There was strength in her eyes that took Mobius and Loki aback. This was purpose. She wanted to win and forge a path for herself. And it seemed nothing would stand in her way. Loki had to admit, he felt the same way. He looked expectantly towards Mobius.
“A fugitive Variant’s been killing our Minutemen,” said Mobius.
“And you need the God of Mischief to help you stop him?” teased Loki, gaining more confidence.
“And a hacker with a terrible track record with authority?” asked (Y/N).
“I need the God of Mischief and someone who knows how to work around him and his lies,” said Mobius.
(Y/N) frowned. “What?”
Mobius shrugged. “He lies and makes layered plans, but you see through them and turn them into advantages that help you.”
“Why is it so important to have the God of Mischief and someone who can work me?” asked Loki.
“Because…” Mobius looked at him. “The Variant we’re hunting…is you.”
“I beg your pardon?”
“Oh, great.”

A Stark Contrast | Bucky Barnes
Summary; living in the shadow of Tony, your brother, always was the way, and you accepted it. That was until he expected you to sign the accords, that was one thing that you couldn’t do.
Warnings; Angst, mentions of death, mentions of being controlled, funeral, mourning, anger
The form, bound in a weighty book laid on the table, making the room fill with utmost tension. Tony was hellbent on signing the thing, and handing away any freedom that all of you had.
No matter how long you had supported him, this was not one subject that you could agree with him on. Whilst you understood his perspective, it would only end up with you in a hamster wheel, running around and following the orders of executives.
They wanted less destruction. To put boundaries around their country’s heroes, and limit them to the lengths they could go to in order to save lives.
That was also wrong, the entire ordeal had you bent backwards with a conflict of interests. On one hand, it would be ordinary to sign for such a cause, whether you trusted their backgrounds or not, simply because your elder sibling had.
There was nobody that you trusted more than Tony, he had half raised you after your parents were killed, you felt indebted to him. But being an avenger, on a team where your personal opinion had been valued, it opened your eyes to a whole range of possibilities.
Whilst you were loyal to Tony, you had also became in tune with your own gut. It grumbled at the prospect of giving in to a contract, which decided what you were permitted to do. It was like a child’s parent permission slip, but on a much grander scale.
“People died!” He reminded the lot of you again, which inclined you to look down. There was blood on all of your hands, and he was making it as red as it could possibly be seen. “At least y/n agrees with me.” He reprimanded Steve, whom was still far on the fence regarding the entire ordeal.
Once he said that, all eyes had shifted towards you. Nat had already basically given in to your brother’s convictions, and Steve suspected that you would do the same. You were always one step behind Tony, you were far too loyal to your sibling for your own good.
“I have yet to make up my mind.” You spoke, standing, no longer wishing to be in the room where there was far too much tension. How you wished Banner and Thor were here, they would make an equal divide. The God of Thunder would not scribble his signature upon the paper, you thought to yourself, if he knew their reasons and affects.
However, your words were taken as an assumption that you would join your sibling in providing a peaceful surrender. It is what he and the public would assume of you, and to be truthful, you were tired of sticking to the stereotypes that were made of you.
“I’m surprised that you came.” Steve spoke, as you opened the boot of your car, and revealed the shield that he was so often adorned with, as well as Sam’s wings. He, like most others, had suspected that you would join your brother in his guilt ridden cause, however, thinking for yourself gave you a sense of freedom.
“Don’t be so quick to prevail into what everyone else thinks of me.” You smirked at the captain, your eyes drifting over to the other super soldier, whom had temporarily been imprisoned by the government.
But he had escaped, and if luck was not often a Stark trait, Tony would have died. You had watched from the cameras, but you could boil no bad blood in between the pair of you, Barnes was not in his right mind. He was controlled, and put into a incomprehensible mode of himself. That was, unless, he had managed to kill Tony.
Then you would have changed your own deciding mind, and stuck to what the eldest Stark believed in. “I won’t, ever again.” Sam smiled, picking up redwing from the composed pile, and kissing the machine.
“Bucky.” You reiterated his name, the one that he had chosen to correct the unknown and deceiving man on. The nod you earnt was brief, but it gave you a sense of hope that whirled in your middle.
It was clear that he was an attractive man, and alike his righteous friend, he was frozen through time to be in this current moment. As Sam and Steve began to get their things together, you walked over to the historical stranger, a smile upon your face. “I’m y/n Stark, I don’t believe we have had the fortune of meeting before.”
“You sure do speak like a Stark.” He softly spoke, a matching smile on his brawn face. “And you seem to have other things in common, like that necklace.” At his words, you looked down at it, a hint of anguish within your gaze.
“It belonged to my mother.” It was nice to reminisce about her for a moment, you knew that she would have made her own decisions too. In some retrospect, you were following in her footsteps.
A feeling grew in the back of Bucky’s throat, but he said nothing. If he were to spill, or reveal his dark secret, it would mean nothing more than the loss of a powerful asset, they could not afford that right now.
“Do you ever think about what would have happened if you got to return home?” It had been a stressful day, fighting your friends, and your last living family member. Bucky turned at your words, you had saved him from being killed, he felt indebted.
“Probably do what every other soldier did; find a woman to marry and have kids. But that’s far out of the picture in this modern age.” Steve was flying the aircraft as you and Bucky spoke in the back. It gave the two of you a moment alone, and you were truly knowing as though you knew the soldier.
He was a good man, misinterpreted by the deeds that he was controlled to do. No one chose to have pity on Barnes, they instead viewed him as a country danger, and wanted to lock him up in a cage, which was how he had come so far in the first place.
“I wouldn’t say that.” For a moment, you looked into his deep blue eyes, feeling as though he were freezing you with them. He didn’t want to look away, but you were inclined to, for you could feel the contrasts of hot and cold heat working its way up your neck, and onto your face. “There’s definitely a woman that would want all that and more with you.”
If things were simpler, you would be convinced that you could share such an intimate bond with him, but alas, everything had to be complicated. And if things could work out, they surely couldn’t last.
“We’re here.” Steve informed the both of you, as he slid out of his front seat, and you prepared to finish this for once and for all.
“How could you?!” You couldn’t defend him as Tony blasted him away, Bucky had played you, and done so well. He and Steve knew of the blood on his hands, and yet they hadn’t thought once to inform you of the one true treachery regrading you.
Bucky had killed your mother, from the intake of information alone, you felt sick. Physically sick. But you choked it down, and as Steve unsurely came towards you, you ran at him, angered by his lies.
From the start, the patriot of America, someone you had considered a friend had deceived you. You had helped him, stood with him, fought your friends for him, and not to mention Tony, and he had known all along.
“Y/n-”
“Save your apologies Rogers.” You stared him down, as he had Bucky held up by one arm, seeing as Barnes had lost one of his own again. “And you, you’re right, there’s no perfect picture, you’re nothing but a monster.”
“Listen.” Steve commanded, but you couldn’t. He was no longer considered your captain, he was a sick liar who had helped to break you. This was the last time that you made your own decisions. Tony was always right.
“You don’t deserve that shield, my father made that. It’s government property-” swiftly he dropped said item, an exhausted and tiresome expression upon Steve’s helmet wearing face.
As soon as they trudged by, you instantly went to Tony, checking his wounds. “You were right brother, I should have listened to you.”
“Your dad loved cheeseburgers too.” You laughed lightly to Morgan, blinking back the tears. It was Tony’s funeral, there were so many people here, even Fury, but there was someone else, who was walking towards you. “Why don’t you go and ask Happy, I have some business that I have to tend to quickly.”
“Okay auntie y/n.” She ran off. She was so innocent, she didn’t deserve to be going to her father’s funeral at five years old, it was truly cruel. But that was just the way the world worked, and Tony was a hero.
“Hi.” Bucky spoke, adorned in all black, same as you. It had been a long time since you had seen him, not since he was being carried away by Steve. You hadn’t fought in Wakanda, instead you had ended up on Titan with your brother, and you would have surely died without him.
“Hey Barnes.” You greeted him with a forced smile, but nevertheless allowed him to step closer.
“I’m sorry for your loss.” He said, the guilt still burning behind his eyes. It seemed that his time in Wakanda had changed him, for the better.
“Which one?” You quipped back, instantaneously.
“All of them.” He gulped, he was going to give you one truth before you found out after. It was his attempt at redemption, and a sorrowful one at that. “Steve’s returning the stones later.”
“I know.” You responded, the captain had already informed you about that part of his plan.
“And he’s not coming back.”
“Anthony Howard and Steven Nathan Barnes, the two of you better get back here this instant!” Your voice hollered through the house, as well as the duo’s endless giggles.
The front door opened, no other than Bucky walking through. He was quick to recognise the flash of motherly anger upon your face, and quickly dropped his serene smile.
“What have they done?” Bucky asked, watching as you crossed your arms in an unimpressed manner.
“Why don’t you ask your sons?” Your husband sighed, but despite that, he was a happy man. He had returned from a war, and found a lovely wife, of which he had two troublesome boys with. For the first time in a long time, y/n Stark and Bucky Barnes were happy.

Till' The End of Time
Chapter 8
Shield helicarrier, 2012
Back on the airship agent Fury paces back and forth before the glass containment cell, he glares at the annoyed god, "In case it's unclear if you try to escape if you so much as put a scratch on that glass- " he presses a knob on the side of a control panel, below the containment cell a large hole opens in the floor drawing air through the ship waiting for Loki to be dropped in '" it's 30,000 feet straight down, in a steel trap. Do you get how that works? Ant. Boot."
"It's an impressive cage. Not built, I think, for me."
"Built for something a lot stronger than you."
"Oh, I've heard."
Loki finishes and turns to look at the bulbous security camera, almost as if he could see those watching on the other side. "A mindless beast. That makes play he is still a man... How desperate are you, that you call on such lost creatures to defend you?
"How desperate am I? You threaten my world with war. You steal a force you can't hope to control. You talk about peace, and you kill because it's fun. You have made me very desperate, You might not be glad that you did."
"Ooh. It burns you to have come so close, To have the Tesseract, to have power, unlimited power. And for what? A warm light for all mankind to share. And then to be reminded what real power is.
"Well let me know if real power wants a magazine or something."
The heroes watch on in silence as Loki steps closer to the camera smirking at them all.
"He really grows on you, doesn't he?" Banner questions the room, not honestly looking for an answer.
"Loki's gonna drag this out. So Thor, what's his play?"
"He has an army called the Chitauri. They're not of Asgard, not any other world-known. He means to lead them against your people. They will win him the Earth, in return, I suspect for the tesseract."
"An army, from outer space?"
"So he's building another portal, that's what he needs Erik Selvig for."
"Selvig?"
"He's an astrophysicist."
"He's a friend."
"Loki has him under some kind of spell, along with one of ours." Nat interrupted, not being able to help her mind drifting to Clint.
"I want to know why Loki let us take him, he's not leading an army from here."
"I don't think we should be focusing on Loki. That guy’s brain is a bag full go cats, you could smell crazy on him."
"Have a care how you speak, Loki is beyond reason but he is of Asgard. And he is my brother."
"He killed 80 people in two days."
"He's adopted."
"I think it's about the mechanics. Iridium what do they need iridium for?"
"It's a stabilizing agent."
The mates' heads all turn at the intrusion of Lottie's voice, she walked in with Phil and Tony, the pair making plans to fly him out and visit his cellist.
Tony sees Agent Coulson off as they enter the room taking his cue from Lenora "It means the portal won't collapse on itself like it did at SHIELD." He announced to the room, walking over the blonde god
"No hard feelings, Point Break. You've got a mean swing." He taps the Asgardian on the bicep with the back of his hand, Lenora rolls he eyes at the action-
"Tony leave the poor hunk alone."
He turns back to her, eyebrow raised questioningly "Hunk? Really- what am I, chopped liver?"
"My love, if we're being completely honest I'm sure you're well aware Rhodey is the hunk in this relationship of ours."
"Lottie." Natasha hisses out glaring at the woman.
"What? Nat, can you sit there and tell me I'm wrong?"
"Well...no."
"Oh my god" Tony whispers out, "What is this a coup?!"
"It also means the portal can open as wide and stay open as long as Loki wants," Lenora tells the rest of the room not giving her husband the satisfaction of responding, simply leaving him to pout.
Tony walks around to the bridge’s helm, eyes scanning. He points to the right-hand side "That man is playing Galaga!" To the shock of the agent in question, as he notices the avengers looking his way he changes tabs switching back to work, away from the game. "He thought we wouldn't notice. But we did."
Tony takes a hard drive out of his pocket as subtle as he can, raising his palm up to his eye covering it. "How does Fury even see these?" He questions pointedly at the screens.
"He turns."
"Sounds exhausting." Tony steps up to one of the screen displays lowering a few of the shown specs, "The rest of the raw materials, Agent Barton can get his hands on pretty easily. The only major component he still needs is a power source of high-energy-density." He explains sticking in the USB scanner of his own design to the side of the electronic table. "Something to kick starts the cube."
"When did you become an expert in thermonuclear astrophysics?"
"Last night. The packet, Selvig’s notes, the extraction theory papers. You do realize Lottie and I both went to M.I.T right?"
"So what kind of power source does Loki need?" Steve asks.
"He would need to heat the Cube to 120-million Kelvin, just to break through the Coulomb barrier."
"Unless Selvig figured out a way to stabilize the quantum tunneling effect."
"Well if he could do that, he could achieve heavy-ion fusion at any reactor on the planet."
"Finally someone who speaks English, where have you been all my life?" The comment makes Bruce smile up at the slightly taller man.
"Hey!" Nat and Lottie say synchronously.
"Sorry girls you know what I meant," Tony says placing his arm over Bruce's shoulder "it's good to meet you, Dr. Banner, your work on antielectron collisions is unparalleled. And I am also a huge fan of the way you lose control and turn into an enormous green rage monster."
"God, why did I marry him." Lenora groans out burying her own head in Natasha’s neck.
"Because you love me."
"Sure let's go with that."
"Dr. Banner is only here to tract the cube. I was hoping you might join him."
"You should start with that stick of his, might be magical. But it works an awful lot like a hydra weapon."
"I don't know about that but It is powered by the cube. And I would like to know how Loki used it to turn two of the sharpest men I know into his personal flying Monkey."
"Monkeys? I do not understand."
"I do! I understood that reference..." Steve exclaims with just a hint of awkwardness to his voice.
Lenora turns her head slightly to whisper in her wife's ear, "c'mon...they just keep getting cuter don't they?"
Nat smiles, nodding in agreement struggling to stop herself from laughing.
"Shall we play doctor?"
"The gamma readings are definitely consistent with Selvig’s reports of the tesseract but it's going to take weeks to process."
"If we bypass their mainframe and direct route to the Homer cluster, we can clock this at around 600 teraflops."
"Ha, all I packed was a toothbrush."
"You should come by Stark Tower sometime, top ten floors all R&D. You'd love it it's candy land."
Lenora perks her head up at Tony's suggestions- "I'll call Happy, have him set a room up."
"Thanks, but the last time I was in New York, I kind of broke Harlem."
"Well, I promise a stress-free environment. No tension, no surprises." Tony concluded his little lie by jabbing Bruce with a small electrical rod.
"Ow!"
Tony leans in to inspect shocked to find the doctor smiling at the action... He actually found it funny...wow.
"Nothing?" He questions the doctor at the lack of outburst ignoring the loud 'Hey' that comes from Rogers's mouth.
"Are you nuts?"
"Jury's out." "Most definitely." Both Stark's answer.
"You really have got a lid on it, haven't you? What's your secret, Mellow jazz, bongo drums, a huge bag of weed?"
"Is everything a joke to you?"
"Funny things are."
"Threatening the safety of everyone in this ship isn't funny... No offense doc."
Lenora scoffs, wow the faith Steve must have in his mates is next to none- "Rogers, cool it. Bruce is fine. He was laughing, I'm sure he knows his own limits better than you do. But yeah... No offense."
"It's alright, I wouldn't have come aboard if I couldn’t handle pointy things." The doctor explains.
"You're tiptoeing, big man. You need to strut."
"You all need to be focusing on the problem at hand."
"You think I'm not? Why did Fury call us in, why now? Why not before? What isn't he telling us- know what, why haven't you ever stopped to ask why SHIELD has one of your mates chained like a rabid animal they've beaten into submission. Or how they got all of us in the first place? Isn't it a bit suspicious so many of us found each other at the hand of SHIELD's intervention?"
"Tony."
"No, Lottie- no. It's unfair, you know that and I know that. Over a year. I know. Over a year that Sheild has had her under their thumb, at their beck and call regardless of what she needs or wants. All for what? Some old bullshit law was written before even you were born? Really? It bugging you too isn't it Banner?"
"I..uh, I just want to finish my work here, and..."
"Doctor?"
Banner looks up at the taller man and sighs, taking off his glasses, "A warm light for all mankind. Loki's jab at Fury, about the cube."
"I heard it."
"Well, I think that was meant for you." He points to Tony. The engineer and his wife share a silent look, him having had seen her true powers back when she wasn't chained. Her powers inspired his own, he could have changed the color of the reactor long after he was taken captive, but it reminded him of his love, it matched her colors he wouldn't change that for the world and if Loki could really read minds he would know that.
Tony doesn't make his suspicion known by simply offering a bag of blueberries to Bruce
"Even if Barton didn't tell Loki about the tower, it was still all over the news."
"Stark Tower? That big, ugly-" Lenora and Tony glared at the captain in silent disagreement "building in New York"
"It's powered by an arc reactor, a self-sustaining energy source. That building will run itself for, what, a year?"
"It's just the prototype. We're kinda the only name in clean energy right now. That's what he's getting at."
"So why didn't shield bring him in on the tesseract project? What are they doing in the energy business in the first place?"
Tony steps around Banner taking his phone from the back pocket of jeans, "I should probably look into that, once my description program finishes breaking into all of shields secure files."
"I'm sorry... did you say?"
Jarvis has been running it since I got the bridge, in a few hours I'll know every dirty secret shield has ever tried to hide. Blueberry? He asks the taller man extending the bag his way.
"Yet you're confused about why they didn't want you around."
"An intelligence organization that fears intelligence? Historically, not so awesome."
"I think Loki is trying to wind us up. This is a person who means to start a war, and if we don’t stay focused, that plan will succeed. We have ordered we should follow them"
"Heh. That's rich." The rest of the men in the room look at Lottie for her to elaborate. "We aren't soldiers captain. The only people here obligated to take any orders are you, the shield agents, and I. The rest here all have this little thing called free will. Yours you've seen to have given up, god only knows why- mine has been taken. But everyone else gets to decide where they stand based on their own wants and beliefs. You have no right, not at a soldier or as our mates to demand how we react to shields bullshit. You follow you're own goddamn orders and see where that gets you modern-day."
Lenora stands from her seat, the stool scrapes harshly against the lab's floor, as she marches out to find her wife, she’s not going to sit there and listen to Tony be berated, he can hold his own without her there to witness it.
Natasha rounds a corner to see her wife pacing back and forth,
"Hey."
"Oh, hi. I was just looking for you!"
"By walking in circles?"
"Well...no that came later"
"Alright, can you help me with something?" The short-haired woman asks.
"Yeah of course."
"Great, I need you to talk to Loki."
"Wait what."
Nat grabs her hand escorting her along the halls. The pair slowly make their way to the glass containment chamber where the Asgardian is being held. "Just talk to him, I need to get a better insight into his personality. Build a profile. But I need him to feel comfortable like he's I'm charge- has all the power even from the cage. He won't trust shield, I think he can trust you because you're not here by choice."
"Do you really think this could help?"
"Yes."
"Then, of course, I'll do it"
Loki walks around in his containment cell before suddenly coming to a stop. Smirk gracing his features "There are not many people who can sneak up on me." He says turning around completely to face Lottie who stands on the opposite side.
"But you figured I'd come."
"You despise this place."
"I do."
"Then why are you here?"
"It's not like I have much of a choice," she remarks tilting her head to the side, allowing her fingers to grace the collar- now on full display to Loki's eye line. "I need to know what you've done to agent Barton."
"I could say I've expanded his mind"
"And once you've won... What happens to his mind?"
"Is this sentiment, Mrs. Stark?"
"He matters greatly to someone I love."
"So you wage your own safety for what? A favor. Your world hangs in the balance, out of your control- and yet you risk it all."
"I... I- uh.' she sits down in front of the cage, " I've had a long and arduous relationship with shield. With the American government in general... I'm not exactly keen on you starting an all-out war, but if it so happens and shield is collateral damage I can't say I'd be too upset. So I'd rather know that Barton will be kept out of harm’s way for agent Romanoffs sake... She has too much pride to herself come and ask you. So I took it upon myself."
Loki leaned into the glass resting his hands on it looking down at the girl, before slamming his hands down on the glass forcing her to look up at him.
"I won't kill Barton not until I can grab and split his skull before your precious agent Romanoffs very eyes."
Lenora looks Loki in the eyes, doing her best to make them shake and take an obvious deep breath "You're... A-a monster."
"Oh no. You've brought the monster."
Lenora lets her face drop completely flaccid, but still staring into Loki's eyes, any semblance of sadness or fear once there, now completely gone. "So, Bruce. That's your play."
"What?"
"Like you said I was just doing a favor. You hear all that darling?!"
"Yup. Got it all" Natasha says coming out of hiding using her earpiece to contact and then running to the bridge.
"TONY!"
"LOTTIE!"
"Don't joke right now I ran, all the way here Nat had me talk to Loki."
"What Loki? Why?"
"She wanted to trick him into revealing his plans and it worked her wants Hulk. He's going to try and get Bruce to" she's cut off as agent Fury storms in.
"What are you doing Mr. Stark?"
"Uh, Kind of been wondering the same thing about you."
"You're supposed to be tracking the tesseract."
"We are, the models locked. And we're sweeping for the signature now. When we get a hit, we'll have the location within half a mile." Bruce cuts in.
"Yeah and then you get your cube back, no muss, no fuss... What is phase 2?"
Steve storms in holding an arm full of weapons, dropping them down on a metal lab table. "Phase two is shield uses the cube to make weapons. Sorry, the computer was moving a bit slow for me."
"Rogers, we gathered everything related to the tesseract. This does not mean we're making...'
"I'm sorry, Nick. What- were you lying?" Tony asks turning a screen of weapon plans re-routed from shield servers to face the dark-skinned man.
"I was the wrong director, the world hasn't changed a bit."
"Did you know about this?" Bruce asks Natasha as she escorts Thor into the room.
Her eyes widen looking at him "No. No of course not, I'm kept just in the dark as you are... All information that doesn't involve my current mission is withheld, ever since I found James, Lottie, and Tony. Shield knew I'd tell them if anything was a viable threat."
"Well, then I'd like to know why shield is using the Tesseract to build weapons of mass destruction."
"Because of him." Fury says pointing to Thor who looks around confused asking "Me?"
"Last year earth had a visitor from another planet, who has a grudge match that leveled a small town. we learned not only that we are not alone, but we are hopelessly, hilariously, outgunned."
"My people want nothing but peace with your planet."
"But you're not the only people out there, are you? This was like nothing we've seen before it was just something we could've controlled like."
"Like what?" Steve ponders
"What he means to say is like mutants. He can't control the aliens like mutants he can't just give them ultimatums and chain them down into submission." Lottie says, "Right, please tell me. Am I wrong fury? You can't control big strong aliens with a little shock color like you can little girls right?"
"Your predicament has nothing to do with this situation."
"My predicament has everything to do with this situation!"

MASTERLIST - SERIES MASTERLIST
PART TWELVE
“I’ve had it,” you said, pushing away your dinner.
“Yeah, me too,” Bruce sighed, eating the last fry and leaning back in his chair with a sigh. “I don’t get it. Why give this big ass meal if no one has ever finished it?”
“It’s not called the Impossible Plate for nothing, Bruce,” you mumbled, toying with the hem of your shirt.
“Still,” he mumbled, yawning. “I’ll have to sleep for days to digest this.”
You laughed, watching your brother, who’d grown a white hair or two in the last years, bend over an eating contest you’d both known you’d never be able to finish.
But at least you were spending time with Bruce, not wallowing around in your apartment, waiting for the sun to set, for a certain someone to climb out of the shadows.
“So,” Bruce said, wiping the corner of his mouth. “Did you and Nat find any cute boys the other night?”
You rolled your eyes, panic rising in your throat because no, both of you had returned home beau-less, but you’d recently found someone else. And you were not about to let Bruce know. Not now. Not ever.
But truth is, you hadn’t seen Loki since the night he came back, and your tummy was a turmoil of panic and butterflies. Had he left once again? What was he doing? Where? With who?
You gulped down the terror rising in your throat as you smiled tightly at Bruce. “No, well, you know how it is,” you said awkwardly. “They all wanna talk to Nat so I kind of awkwardly step to the side.”
Bruce nodded. “Well, Nat is a very beautiful woman,” he sighed.
“Ew, Bruce stop.”
“But some men like women like you too.”
“What, ugly?”
“Oh my God, Y/N, stop it,” your brother grumbled. “Half the men in here swiveled their necks when you walked in.”
You wanted to hide in your hands.
But then Bruce’s face changed and you knew what was coming. He always did this. Always. As if he just had to make sure you were miserable, just for the sake of the planet’s safety.
“I need to tell you something,” Bruce said with a frown. God, you hoped he was fine. But something in the lines of his face made worry climb in your belly. “There’s news from... from Asgard.”
It was as if that word was poison to you. “Loki,” you mumbled, throat raw.
“Thor delivered some news yesterday,” your brother continued, toying with his fingers, a nervous habit of his. “Loki... Loki died.”
You frowned, your head snapping up to meet Bruce’s warm brown gaze. “Dead?” you asked.
That was impossible. Just two days ago, he’d been standing in your apartment. He’d been... You gulped.
Bruce put his elbows on the table, initiating his Big Brother Stance.
“I’m sorry, Y/N,” he whispered. “I know it must be terrible news for you.”
You dipped your chin, searching your last moments with Loki, trying to decipher if he’d given you a hint. This made no sense. How could Loki, the God of Mischief, be dead?
“How?” you asked.
Bruce sighed. “Thor broke him out of prison to help him cure Jane of the Aether, and well, Loki was killed in a battle.”
You were frowning so hard it hurt.
“I am so sorry, little sis,” Bruce murmured, reaching across the table to touch your hand. You immediately jerked it away, regretting the harsh movement as you saw hurt crossing your brother’s features, but not caring at the same time. How could he be dead?
You stood, the chair scraping on the wooden floor. You grabbed your bag, heart pounding, breath roaring in your ears.
“Y/N,” Bruce said, eyeing you with worry creasing his face.
“I’m gonna go,” you mumbled, not bothering with the bill or politeness or the fact that you were running out of a restaurant.
The street sounds were a blur to you as you all but ran out, bumping into people, muttering excuses. You walked by habit, heart a sore muscle, thoughts jumbling. How could Loki be dead in two days? Had Thor delivered the news a few days ago? Or today?
You were vaguely aware of your phone buzzing in your pocket, but all you could concentrate on was Loki’s presence. He’d been in and out of your apartment for weeks, repairing this or that, and it was only two days ago that he’d been in your apartment, kissing you.
He just couldn’t be dead.
It was late evening as you rushed up the stairs of your apartment complex, blood roaring in your ears, breath panting as you burst through the door. You didn’t bother locking it. Rushing to the curtains, you ripped them closed, ushering in more darkness. He only seemed to come to you in the dark.
Standing there like an idiot, panting, silence filling your ears, you called out to him. At first, it was weak. A raw attempt to conjure him as if he was a ghost. But then the anger got to you, sweeping in hot against the inside of your rib cage, and you balled your fingers into fists.
“Loki, fuck!” you exclaimed, feeling your cheeks warm.
The shadow behind you spoke. “Love hearing my name like that.”
You whirled, watching him melt from the shadows as if he’d been there all along. Black long sleeve cotton sweater, black trousers, boots to match. His hair had been cut since the last time you’d seen him. The long strands now short just below his ears, pushed back unevenly.
He glowed, looking healthier, more like himself than when he’d been begging you never to let him go.
“I thought you didn’t want me,” he said, pouting his lower lip. As he moved across the living room floor to stand before you, he put a hand to his heart. “Wounds me.”
“Are you really here?” you asked, resisting the urge to slap him for his arrogance.
“Why don’t you come and find out, beloved?” He opened his arms wide, a smirk tugging at the treacherous corners of that delicious mouth.
You walked right up to him and clocked him in the jaw. His head snapped back, smirk wiping off his face, arms falling to his sides. When he looked back at you, standing close and seething, his left brow rose slowly. “I do not believe I’ve ever deserved such treatment.”
“Thor’s been saying you’re dead,” you accused, looking up at him from under your brows.
The smirk slowly came back. “I may have helped spread that rumor,” he admitted, reaching out the touch the lapel of your coat. You inched back, but he snapped his hand closed and pulled you closer. “You must understand, Y/N, that this little lie I’ve shaped up allows us to be together.” He dipped his chin, eyes boring into yours.
He was so close that you could feel the heat of him through your clothes. He’d been so cold the other night.
He licked his lips, inching slightly towards your mouth. “When you’re a powerful God and sorcerer like me, faking your death is like breathing. Easy.”
Your eyes widened, but the hurt you’d felt in your heart seemed to evaporate. If he’d faked his death, that meant he was really here. Unburdened. No one even knew he lived and breathed.
His hands went into your coat, swiftly sliding it off your shoulders. You watched him, memorized the lines of his face.
“It’s just you and me now,” he murmured, your coat hitting the floor with a deafening thud. “We can go wherever we please.”
His hands found home on your hips, burying his face in your neck and inhaling, the scent of him invading your senses. He gently wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you against him, flush, like two puzzle pieces. He was warm, oh so warm. He smelled like wood fire and something unique to him that made your body feel... safe.
“Say something, baby,” he mumbled against the flesh of your neck, sending shivers gliding down your back. His warm, big hands slid against your waist until he held your ribcage. Surely, he could feel just how hard your heart was beating.
“I thought you were dead,” you murmured.
You felt him chuckle against you as he straightened, his hands cupping your cheeks. “I can show you how very much alive I am,” he whispered, his voice thick.
You gulped. Something in you fizzled, dripping thick, honeyed want into your belly.
But Loki cocked his head. “I could take you here,” he said, eyes faraway, as if he was talking to himself. “I could... Gods, stop looking at me like that.”
He brought his mouth to yours, kissing you so fiercely that you forgot his whole “pretending to be dead” thing. The way his mouth molded to yours stole the breath from your lungs, driving you mad with the need of him. He was so soft, yet so rough, a restraint in him only felt as you grabbed onto his taunt shoulders. He was keeping himself controlled.
You wondered what it would be like if he didn’t.
He said your name through kisses, pushing onto you until the backs of your knees found the edge of the couch. “I’ve been starved for two years,” he mumbled, biting onto your lower lip. “Bled out.” Another breathtaking kiss. “All I wanted was you.”
You briefly remembered the way he’d looked that first time you saw him: disgusted, and how ironic was that now. He was bound to you so fiercely you felt it in your bones, and he was on his knees, wanting you more than anything. More than his own life.
“Loki,” you murmured, breathing him in, kissing him back with as much heat as you could muster. You took ahold of his shirt with courage that seemed to pour in the more he ravaged you with his mouth. Pulling him back, you brought him down onto the couch, straddling him with ease. It really was like fitting two puzzle pieces.
He huffed, his eyes searching your face with a look you could only chalk up to awe. His hands delicately treaded along your waist, skimming your hips as you lowered yourself flush against him. You could feel him through his pants, warm and hard, and the thought that just the sight of you got Loki so aroused made you bite your lip.
He looked up at you, caressing your ribcage. “I could have you like this,” he whispered, his other hand skimming your belly and up, until he toyed with your nipple through your shirt. “I would have you how ever you want, Y/N,” he said, reaching for your mouth.
You dipped your fingers into his hair, grasping, bringing you against him until instinct took over and you rolled your hips, feeling his teeth nip you through the kiss. A low rumble came from him, his hand grasping your hip. “Careful, love,” he warned, nipping at your neck, your hands gripping the strands of dark hair. “Or I’ll be in a hurry.”
You smiled. Genuinely smiled. It was the first time in what felt like ages that the stretch of your lips felt real. You’d been living a lie for two years and now, straddling this dark prince of Gods, you knew this is where you belonged.
He brought his mouth back to yours. “Runaway with me,” he said, splaying both hands down the length of your back. “Please.”
You closed your eyes, kissing his jaw, down his neck, rolling your hips until you knew just how much of him you’d be dealing with. That low rumble came back, his hand snapping out and gripping your neck. With a hiss, he brought you back until you could meet his eyes.
You gulped, but you couldn’t help the knot of arousal coiling in your belly. “Don’t play with me,” he warned, eyes dark in the dimly lit room.
The left corner of your mouth tugged up and you barely saw him move. You knew he had superhuman strength and speed, but you’d never seen him use it before. And now, one moment you were straddling him, the next you were on the floor, Loki poised menacingly between your legs.
When you looked up, panting, the pressure of Loki’s hand around your throat, his eyes were hooded.
“Touch me,” he said.
You felt the heat pouring into your face, but the hand around your neck eased until it grasped onto yours, guiding it to Loki’s arousal. He was so warm, so hard as you pressed your hand against him, eliciting a low groan from him.
You watched him as his head bent slightly, eyes shutting, grasping him through his pants. He seemed to tremble, both hands in fists either side of your head. And then he let out a low groan, his mouth brushing yours.
“The things you fucking do to me, love,” he whispered against your mouth before kissing you so hard you saw stars.
He grabbed onto both sides of your jeans and tugged, making you lose touch with him and sliding softly on the floor. He smiled, kissing your neck down to the swell of your breast until he was face to face with the apex between your legs. He tugged again when you slowly rose your hips from the ground, watching him, seeing the way his eyes drank you in like a drug.
Your jeans hit the ground and you instinctively closed your legs, but Loki’s long fingers on your knees pushed them apart as he settled there, his mouth finding home on the flesh of your neck.
“I don’t think I’ll be able to,” he mumbled, fingers playing along the inside of your thigh, “but you can stop me if you want.”
Something akin to awe swelled in your chest and you grabbed onto his face, bringing his mouth back onto yours. He grunted, moving until your left leg was wide open for him.
His fingers delicately pushed your panties aside, his mouth nipping at yours. You trembled, not because it was cold, and he sensed the way your bones seemed to flutter. “I got you, baby,” he whispered, two long, warm fingers finding your clit and rubbing slow, tentative circles that made you arch your back.
Loki dipped his chin, grasping a nipple in his mouth through your shirt. You’d stopped wearing bras since the last time you’d seen him.
A whimper left you as Loki continued his ministrations, the pressure just right, the circles so languid. You lost yourself to the rhythm, rolling your hips into his hand, his mouth kissing up your neck and leaving a trail purely his.
“Yeah?” he whispered in your ear, the pressure on his fingers increasing and you mewled, grasping his hair. “That’s a good girl, huh.” You flushed, lost in the storm of his words and the way his hand felt so fucking good.
The pressure on your nub left momentarily, replaced by a long finger easing into you. Loki let out a low groan. “Gods, you’re so soft and wet.” His voice was like pure sin as his thumb found your nub and he gently rubbed, finding the perfect rhythm for you.
You arched your back as his finger found that soft spot in you, a cry passing through clenched teeth.
“That feel good, love?” he muttered against your neck, kissing and biting. “Tell me.”
“Yes,” you moaned, the combined pleasure of his thumb and finger in and on you making you a complete puddle.
He chuckled, something dark seeping from him, as he slowly started to lower himself until he was face to face with you. A blush crept up your face and he watched what he was doing to you.
“So pretty,” he mumbled, and you saw him lower his mouth until his tongue made a bold swipe, replacing his thumb, and you all but cried out, chest arching off the floor. “That’s more like it,” his breathed against you.
And then he all but made you toss yourself off the edge. His tongue was a gift sent from the Gods, and the more he sucked and swirled your clit, his finger easing in and out of you, the closer you got to a real precipice.
There was a knot in your belly, and whenever Loki’s tongue pressed ever so slightly against your core, you swore you almost broke.
“Loki, I’m... oh God.” You reached down to grasp his hair.
His pace seemed to quicken ever the slightest, his tongue working wonders against your clit until your insides felt like lead and that knot threatened to erupt. When he added another finger, so easily, you gasped, a broken moan clenched in your mouth, as the edge came and you toppled, Loki’s name on your tongue.
You were vaguely aware of Loki as he kissed the inside of your thigh, wiping his mouth onto your flesh. You were a puddle, breathing erratic as he loomed over you.
“Runaway with me, Y/N,” he whispered, kissing your neck, your jaw, claiming your mouth and forcing you to taste yourself. “Come on,” he murmured, hands skimming your ribcage. “I could have you cumming for me like this every day.”
The thought made you smile.
He grabbed your hand and kissed your palm, tugging until you could sit up and meet his gaze.
“I’m begging you,” he continued, his voice so low, so thick as he kissed your hairline.
You breathed in. “Okay.”
AAAAHHHHHH = me writing smut always. PART THIRTEEN ALREADY IN THE WORKS!!!

Top Forty Thor-Being-Thor Moments from Thor 1
just absolute dumb*ssery that this 7yr old kid’s life goal is to “hunt down the monsters and slay them all”. I’ll go easy on him here and let the Thor/Loki expressions do the talking because of “...just like you did Father” but seriously can his hands even fit around a sword handle??? this kid isn’t even punching the air right??? if there was a sword in his hand he would’ve cut his head with the way he’s moving???? pure tiny-himbo energy here just look at that >:o face he’s making. contrasts very nicely with Loki’s ‘,:|. 10/10. such a baby idiot.
“the jotuns must pay for what they have done! they broke into the weapons vault! if the frost giants had stolen even one of these relics!” thor. thor please. can you even name one of these relics. thor. hey thor. thor. shut up. “well, what would you do about this?” odin asks him. “march into jotunheim! like you once did! break their spirits! so they’ll never try anything like this again!” wow okay so we’ve fast-forwarded by like a thousand years and thor is still going on about genocide. huh. that’s funny, i thought loki was the genocidal one. hmm. i also just realized that the loki exclusive clip gives loki the same hairstyle thor has here so do what you will with that information.
0/10. horrible. terrible. i dont care how angy thor is about not getting to kill some jotuns or become king today this very instant, that is a tremendous waste of food. an absolute fool. how can he just remorselessly throw the bread to the floor. if loki stabbed him when he was 7 he would deserve it for this table flip alone. what a privileged white *ssh*le.
loki came skulking around a corner and suggested not to go to jotunheim and not only did thor not suspect anything but he also then went on to decide to go to jotunheim. 10/10 himbo material.
if tumblr didn’t have a picture limit i would put every instance of thor smiling in this list because look at that stupid smile. he’s such an idiot. 11/10. this is the thor content i’m here for.
“I have no plans to die today” thor says with the stupidest open-mouthed smirking smile ever captured on film. right after he also told heimdall not to tell anyone they’re gone. he’s literally planned to strand them on jotunheim. thor’s grand plan was to strange themselves on jotunheim and also start a fight. i repeat: thor’s plan was to successfully slay all the frost giants and not need to return until they’re all gone. what an absolute d*mb*ss. this is getting ridiculous. this was originally a top-ten-thor moments list but i’m not even twenty minutes in so i’ll have to extend the list. thor. thor are you listening? thor, you’re such an idiot.
“HOW DID YOUR PEOPLE GET INTO ASGARD?!” thor you sweet sweet summer idiot, please, i am beggin,g you,, learn to rea,d , a room,, literally everyone else who came with you is regretting it, there is complete silence and only the rumble of the opposing king is meeting your “I AM THOR, SON OF ODIN”s, please, please take some notes from Loki, or, you know, literally anyone else in the room, since everyone is asking you to get out of this realm while you still can,
thor’s stupid smile makes an appearance after he gets called a princess and decides to fight a whole realm over it. you know what? thor is a princess. he’s the prettiest princess in all the lands. what’s thor gonna do about it? is he going to fight me too? I hope he does the stupid grin first. minus 15 points for the sexism. thor is a complete and utter sadistic fool who needs to get a hobby. seriously, he’s 1500 years old and still going on and on about slaying all the frost giants. boi, i hate to break it to you, but your dad is not the best or only example of greatness out there. i don’t think your dad even qualifies as an example of that.
“THEN. GO!” 🥰 ahh yes, just thor thingz 🥰🥰 like when one friend has had his arm burnt 🥰 and another friend has been impaled and needs medical attention, 🥰🥰 and all the rest of your friends are yelling for you, 🥰 and your brother is telling you they must go, 🥰 and you decide to buy everyone time by laughing maniacally and killing more frosties because you care for them and dont find joy in destruction like a loon 🥰🥰🥰
THIS is the iconic Thor moment that makes my day whenever I think about it. Just Thor, an absolute bumbering 6′6′’ giant boodlusting dummy sees Odin and just decides to yell “FATHAA!! WE’LL FINISH THEM TOGETHAAA!” as if the last thing Odin told him wasn’t “no, thor, we’re not going to do anything to the frost giants, do not go after them and try to kill them all.” 11/10 d*mb*assery right here folks, I couldn’t ask for Thor to be more of a fool. This is PEAK Thor energy. Look at that face. I feel like Thor spends half this movie with his nostrils flared. I love it.
okay i gotta give thor credit for rightfully calling odin “an old man and a fool” but also there was not even 1 frame of the scene where Thor had a decent face so now all i see is >:O >:| >:o >:[ when i watch that scene. yelling at odin was great, not yelling at odin after he HUAERGHed at loki was less great, but to be fair it’s thor and he is the definition of Peak D*mb*ss.
thor literally GROWLS and starts yelling “HAMMAA?? HAMMER??” over and over. He was hit by a van, he fainted, he woke up and started growling. I don’t know what else there is to say about this.
“you dare threaten me? puny human?”. so. uhh. basically. Thor knew she was threatening him? He KNEW she had a weapon? instead he made a face and started yelling as he tried to walk his way closer????? thor you complete and utter dum dum. you frickin hairball-for-brains. im not even surprised darcy tasered him. with that kind of face, i’d taser him too.
when you wake up in an unknown place to a person smiling at you without a stupid smile, the first step is always to attack first and ask questions later 😌😌😌 (but seriously thor you imbecile why didn’t you ask where you were instead of throwing multiple people around the room and getting your butt needled. you clueless buffoon. you’ll remain a clueless buffoon if you don’t listen to anyone.)
just a quick recap but thor was knocked unconscious by a van and these people kidnapped him aboard and the next scene we see him in he’s checking himself out in mirror after presumably changing right there in the open?????? these are the things that make thor thor. any other character and i’d question it so much, but this is thor, and i truly believe this is in-character for him. just change in the open because why not? thor is a beefcake and that’s his only redeeming quality and he knows it. 10/10 thor moment.
I am now convinced that Thor saw Jane and “5k van-hitter to lover slow-burn height-difference himbo-scientist trope” flashed through his mind.
“but no more smashing!” Jane says, and then Thor proceeds to check her out and smile unlike an idiot and like a douche. was this his version of flirting???? i’m not one to decide, but yes, yes it was. He threw a cup to the ground and broke it, and she’s getting mad at him and berating him about it, and he’s liking it. y’all i’m sorry to break it to you like this, but thor has a canon fetish. i am so, so sorry.
im DYING. THAT ISN’T EVEN A KISS, HIS MOUTH IS OPEN. he SMUSHES his mouth around her knuckle???? WHY. I can’t keep noticing things like this. send help. please. Jane’s response makes so much more sense now; she’s laughs for a solid 3 seconds and shakes her head and is like “uhh, thank you? ahaha,” and then she keeps looking back longingly when walking away. they are doing this in PLAIN sight of EVERYONE. Darcy and Erik are standing RIGHT THERE, and Thor is doing weird things to her with his mouth. I’m out. I am done here. goodbye.
return of the stupid smile AND the douche smile in quick succession through the entire trip. their entire dialogue is peppered with innuendo. “I’ve never done anything like this before. have you ever done anything like this before?” “many times, but you are brave to do it.” “I have nothing else to lose.” “ah but you are clever, far more clever than anyone else on this realm.” “realm? rEaLm?” “you think me strange?” “yes” “good strange or bad strange?” “I haven’t decided yet.” I AM DYING OVER THIS. plus, we get Return Of The Himbo with Jane asking after Einstein Rosen bridges and Thor is like “uh, actually, more like a rainbow bridge 😜🤪” i feel so sorry for jane here, didn’t know how much of a d*mb*ss Thor was when signing up for this van-trip and knuckle-sucking 😭😭😭 i also no longer have questions about how the trip that SHOULD HAVE BEEN A HALF-HOUR ONE turned into one that LASTED TILL THE SUN WENT FROM THE MIDDLE OF THE SKY TO SETTING by the time they arrived. I have no questions. please. I don’t want to know what they were doing in that van. please no. don’t make me think about it.
thor’s plan had 3 steps and they were 1. give jane his jacket 2. walk in and get his hammer 3. fly out. that was literally his plan. he had the first “I have a plan. attack.” moment in the MCU. pure concentrated 0-brain-cells energy right here. how can you not stan this king of d*mb*ssery. look at him, flaunting his big boy muscles. he’s about get his hammer and fly out, like he just told jane with a trademark stupid-smile.
crop-top hair-mop thor is my favourite thor. the way the entire fight scene parallels a hamster in a maze only exemplifies the thor vibes for some inexplicable reason.
“you’re big. fought bigger.” + Thor douche-smile + subtext from earlier + rolling around passionately in the mud = not a happy me.
I swear i’m not making up this romantic subtext but it’s barely even subtext. the entire scene leading up to Thor’s attempt at lifting the hammer is actually filmed erotically. I’m not kidding. First there’s a shot where Thor pulls aside a hamster-cage-wall blind which mirrors a shower-curtain, and THEN he walks around the hammer while smiling douche-ly at it, we get a few close-ups to his face which are shot from angles slightly lower than himself, giving him an aire of superiority, plus the music adds to this, he reaches out for the hammer’s handle with a mud-covered arm in the rain, in non-slow-motion slow-motion, and he wraps his arm around it, like, he fully twists his arm, unecessarily sexually, around it as he grabs the hammer. This is not okay. On the plus side, it makes the movie much more entertaining,, on the down side,,.
im not going to call Thor dumb for not knowing he’s not worthy. im not going to. because odin literally whispered the enchantment to mjolnir after he’d thrown thor to midgard. it is very funny watching thor grunt in frustration though. he starts yelling because he couldn’t lift the hammer and just lets himself get caught. like, dude, get a life, go buy a new weapon from the store, seriously. he mourns for the hammer on-screen longer than he does for loki. he also looks like he’s in far more pain here. he becomes catatonic and unresponsive after this, but when loki dies he’s already feasting the same afternoon. 10/10 dum dum thor material. never change thor, never change. (that’s code for please change, thor, please,)
thor trying to establish dominance wherever he goes is the funniest thing because at this point he’s being a complete asgardian *ss about it and it’s reaching points of pettiness never seen before. side note: he is possibly flirting with selvig too. maybe. i’m not saying anything happened, but Thor’s openning lines when bringing him home carried over his shoulder are “he’s fine, not injured at all,” followed with an apology to selvig, and an explanation to jane which consisted only of “we drank, we fought, he made his ancestors proud,” and then he puts the man to bed and before he falls asleep erik says “i still don’t believe you’re the g*d of th*nder, but you ought to be,” so... your choice, i guess...
thor’s got his trademark stupid smile and stupidly takes jane’s life’s work notebook and starts doodling in it about trees. the last time his father told him this story about Yggdrasil was when he was 5 and he clearly hasn’t payed attention to any lesson about anything since and it shows so so much. thank you thor. very insightful knowledge you’re passing on hear. ‘i come from a world where [science and magic] are one and the same,’ ok great, now elaborate on that please. oh, right, you can’t because you’re thor, my bad, 20/10 thor behaviour. he couldn’t even doodle nicely. all his lines are wobbly. epic art fail. i wouldn’t trust him near my sketchbook with a 2B pencil.
THIS is thor’s realization face. in case anyone was interested in what ‘dawning truth’ looked like on him. 😰😪 THIS is the face of a thinker, of a man betrayed by his own beloved brother for unprecedented reasons. look at the nuance in his expression. 😩😩😩 so many emotions, I can’t even count them all 😩💯😪
stupid smile and “do not worry my friends, i have a plan,” he says, “i’ll just try and abuse the fact that Loki’s super selfless and kind and has no self worth to my benefit as i have countless times before which is exactly what he’s rightfully angry about this time,” he doesn’t think to himself because that is NOT the smile of someone who is thinking... like, at all. +10000 points to gryffinthor. the d*mb*ssery really jumps out.
“im sorry bro for whatever i did and whatever you’re blaming me for as an excuse to do this, im sorry bro, but you’re disturbing innocents that i don’t really care about but you’re the one making a scene in front of them so why don’t you admit you won’t kill me and are just having a temper tantrum and we move on? hmm?” and then he proceeds to get slam dunked in the face with a metal arm like yEAAAA BOI that’s what you GET for going up against the SENTIENT LAVA-SPEWING metal-man ya absolute dunderhead clod. thunderhead clod? yeah, that. he’s just so dumb, your honour, please, you must understand, the victim pleads guilty on all charges of d*mb*ss and d*mb*ss alone.
I can NOT describe the emotions I feel knowing that Thor is suck-kissing Jane’s knuckles. Like, his mouth is literally jelly-ing it up against her hand. There is suction there and it shows when he is placing and removing his mouth. I promise that’s what is happening. I’m not any happier than you about this. I regret everything. This is why Loki should be what is focused on and not Thor; Thor’s going around trying to frick frack everything in sight even if it’s just Jane’s hand. He’s maintaining eye contact with Jane while he licks her fingers. Why did I decide to rewatch this movie.
i’m only adding this in as a thor moment because of how desperately and badly they kiss. seriously. 2/10 kiss. im not surprised jane broke up with him. they look like two actual seals fighting over an actual grape. while i’m here i’m going to criticize every fic ever that decided thor is an experienced gentle lover. what were y’all on when watching this movie. thor can and will f*ck literally everything in sight and he won’t even do it well because he is the peakest of peak d*m d*m. look at this man. look at his face. that is the face of an absolute himbo idiot, and it’s the face of an absolute himbo idiot who knows it. he’s been stranded on earth for 2 days, max, and his flirt-count is at 69 people because his name is one letter away from thot. i bet his terrible use of a pen from early means he writes his ‘r’s like ‘t’s and he doesn’t even care. 1000/10 thor moment. doesn’t get much more romance-thor than two individuals smooshing their faces together after some finger sucking. that finger sucking is gonna leave jane simping for years. and that’s true love babey. <3
“I’ll handle my Brother!” Thor says, as if Loki didn’t send a metal-murder-bot that quite virtually killed him less than ten minutes ago asdfhkhsdgsdjf Thor, you horrific himbo you, Loki’s weapon of choice is literally throwing knives he will literally kill you before you enter the room if he’s on his game and wants you dead which he just proved he would do and you’re just gonna???????????? jog on over to him????? Thor??????????? bruH???????????? buddy??????? pal???????? you really wanna go 1v1 the brother you very clearly underestimate and know nothing about????????????????? im loving the confidence, but, no.
Loki: “you literally can’t stop this from here.” Thor, immediately: “i’m going to hit it with the hammer and see if that works” and then it does in fact work later... technically speaking, even if it ends up causing chaos destruction and death and loki falling off the bifrost 😔😔😔 but Big Brain Thor is the Biggest Brained Thor!!! The plan worked!! in a messy-Thor-ish way, but it did!!!
“you can’t kill an entire race!!!!” Thor yells, teeth gritted, as he faces his brother, his coward pacifist brother, who has suddenly decided he wants to join the age-old family tradition of realm-destroying, when this is supposed to be Thor’s dream, Thor’s, not Loki’s. How dare he, Thor thinks to himself, fist clenched around Mjolnir in anger, the pain of the handle pressing against his palm perhaps the only thing preventing him from lashing out at this thought, that’s my planet of monsters to slay, he should go get his own! Loki hits Thor across the face with the back-end of his spear. “Now fight me,” Loki says, but Thor, well, Thor cannot fight, as he remains stunned that of all things Loki would dare steal his life’s ambition, and he is sent sprawling backwards across the observatory, slowly but surely sliding to a stop despite his catatonic, very symbolic silence.
the elegance, the poise, i see your time on earth has made you no less graceful, Thor. the simple magnitude of this sprawl. the spread of the arms. the turn of the feet. this is not a dude, this is a man.
sometimes your brother starts vehemently talking about he’s gonna kill the race of monsters and about how he’s only ever wanted to be your equal and about how he’s not your brother and never was and sometimes you just have to say “this is madness” instead of addressing the issues or asking for any of the deets 🔥 👊💯😩
Loki is whipping Thor’s butt. Both literally, and metaphorically, Loki is whooping Thor’s d*mb*ss. Earlier he knicked Thor’s face, now he’s just pushing Thor around, he uses the spear as a pole and later kicks Thor’s face by kicking vertically up, and Thor, bless him in all his blond golden muscled glory, doesn’t think anything is up with this, gosh he’s such an absolute utter idiot
sometimes your brother laughs way too much and also cries too much in a fight and there are also too many of him so you just need to blast lightning so you get a shot at all of them 😌😌😌 and then put your magical infinitely-heavy hammer on his chest 😌😌😌 but it’s okay because Thor left holes in Loki’s container 😌😌😌
now THIS is the meat to Thor’s funny bone, just the pure unadulterated humour that is Thor saying that there will never be a “wiser king” or a “better father” than Odin, it cracks me up every single time without fail, just the way he says it with a straight face and— what do you mean he wasn’t joking
look at Thor’s stupid smile as he asks Heimdall to spy on jane every single day while conveniently never asking after Loki ever. This is Thor’s face in mourning after he attended a feast after everyone was celebrating after Loki’s death. Look at his stupid smile. I love him your honour. He’s just,, he’s just so frickin stewpeed, just Thor being Thor, just the purest of d*mbest of *sses.
#listen#if people can interpret loki and the grandmaster as a thing when loki spends the entire time looking uncomfortable about every situation#then i can interpret thor as flirting with people when there are actual canon questions which get solved when other explanations dont work#so#dont mind me here#in conclusion: thor is a dum dum idiot and it's *chef's kiss*#thank you for coming to my ted talk#ThisPostIsLongerThanMyLifeSpan#TPILTMLS#Language!#language#im one of those people who comments on things through movies but you can't be mad because it's worth it and i've got points#obviously writing means i can get the full gist of the comments out without summarizing#but#like#my family is simply underappreciative and i'm a genius

Thunder clapped loudly overhead. You pulled the blanket higher onto your head, trying not to shake. “I hate nights like these,” you cursed. Loki was sitting in the middle of the bed, wiping his hands along his pant legs repeatedly. He rocked back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. His weight on the blanket was comforting, but still quite uncomfortable.
“If it was back on Asgard, it would just mean Thor’s lost his temper once again,” Loki muttered, “but here? It’s a natural, uncontrollable threat.”
“Loki!” you hissed. You threw the blanket off your head. “Could you not?”
“Sorry,” he said in a rushed, quiet voice. He removed himself from the top of the bed, moving under the covers with you. You moved out of the center of the bed to welcome him, but he just dragged you back to envelop you in a bone-crushing hug. “Sorry, sweetling, I didn’t mean to frighten you further. What kind of husband scares his wife?”
“A freaked out one,” you shivered. You held onto him like a koala. “You said Thor has no control over the storms on Midgard, right? So we couldn’t ask him to change the weather?”
“No, we couldn’t, darling,” he said, peering out the blinds from your spot on the bed. All night, all throughout the storm, neither of you had gone close to the window to watch the drops hit the panels. Neither of you could bring yourself to touch the glass while the lightning flashed and the rain poured. It was too much for one night. “The realm is too large for him to control all the storms…”
“Then why are you scared?” you asked the god. He was clutching you as tightly as you were clutching him. Loki pressed his lips to your head, pulling the covers up to your necks.
“There’s no way to soothe the storm, darling.” The God of Mischief took a deep inhale. Your legs felt cold and jittery in the bed. Loki was shivering. “I can’t protect either of us from nature.”
“Well, I just don’t think we can stay like this,” you told him through a quivering voice, “be-being scared of a l-little lightning. It won’t be good for the k-kids.”
“Kids?” He paused. He set his hands on your hips and shoulders to secure you against him. “So soon?” Loki swallowed once or twice, taking a shaking breath in. His heart sped up, causing your heart rate to increase as well. “I thought we were trying to wait.”
“I meant later,” you said, shaking your head. You didn’t want to talk about any potential future while your heart was trying to break out of its cage. “This weather is nightmarish… It chills me to the bone.”
“You’re telling me.” Loki shook his head gently and exhaled a big sigh. He buried his face in your neck as the pitter-pattering of the rain increased. A muffled roll of thunder played overhead, quieter than before but much longer than the others. You closed your eyes tightly. “We could move to Asgard; the storms aren’t nearly as frequent.”
“You would rather be here, though.” You found your fingers digging into your husband’s arms for security. He ran his hands up and down your back. “Oh, I hate this, I hate this…”
“I’m sure it will end soon,” he muttered. He didn’t sound convinced. “Any moment now…”
“Oh, shut the blinds and turn on a sound machine, Loki,” you begged. “We can find anything else to do besides hide. I’m sick of hiding. We’re just going to scare ourselves more.”
Loki nodded sharply. “Yes, darling. Yes, you’re right. We should learn to get comfortable with this weather. What’s—What’s the worst that could happen?” His tone of voice wasn’t for you, but rather for himself. He needed to work himself up to shutting the blinds. As gut-wrenching as the night was, it wasn’t going to get any better if the two of you didn’t try to work on it together.
“We’re obviously going to be uncomfortable with storms for the rest of our lives,” you reasoned, “but… come on. We live here. I want to be brave with you.” You held his hand. Loki kissed your fingers and your palm in acknowledgement.
“I’ll shut the blinds, poppet. But we’re staying under the blankets until I don’t hear anymore thunder.”
“You promise?” you found yourself blurting. You were so relieved despite your little speech. Loki laughed, then nodded.
“Oh, I promise.”
