They offer a range of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and potential health benefits. However, it's important to remember that individual dietary needs and preferences may vary, so it's always a good idea to consult with a healthcare professional or registered dietitian for personalized advice.

I’m going to put Johnny Dominguez right here In front of you on this page so that You won’t mistake him for something else, An idea, for example, of how oppressed He was, rising with his pan of Thompson Seedless Grapes from a row of vines. The band On his white straw hat darkened by sweat, is, He would remind you, just a hatband. His hatband. He would remind you of that. Grandpa Buster in his forever home with Eleanor, Grandkids, pets and miniature trains 💕💕
“We moved into the ‘ranch,’ as Buster called it, in June 1956.
Buster had a swimming pool built, and, since he wanted to raise chickens, he built a chicken coop, which looked like a schoolhouse, behind the house.
Woodland Hills, which is north of Hollywood in the San Fernando Valley, did not have many residents at that time. As he was the only famous homeowner in the area, Buster was named honorary mayor of Woodland Hills.
The house in Woodland Hills was something we both adored, and when Buster was not working we enjoyed being at the ‘ranch.’ We liked having friends over for barbecues and bridge games, and we treasured our quiet moments alone. Buster had a vegetable garden and fruit trees and would spend hours watering them. He liked collecting walnuts from our nine walnut trees and enjoyed finding four-leaf clovers, something he had a talent for spotting quickly since childhood. He had a dozen Rhode Island Red hens that he called his ‘girls.’ He gave them names like Zsa Zsa, Marilyn, and Ava. He had a rooster too.
Buster swam every day and enjoyed cooking, playing his ukulele and watching television, which fascinated him. Buster loved trains. His favorite film of his own was The General, and he had a toy train that ran on tracks around our picnic table and back into the garage. The cars were big enough to hold a Coca-Cola or a hot dog, and Buster used to drive food around to our guests whenever we had a picnic”
-Eleanor Keaton
“Our swimming pool is of natural stone, and we decorate its borders with colored stones collected in each place we visit. Today the most exciting moments of my life come when I step out on my own property and walk around it, accompanied by Elmer III, my amiable 180-pound St. Bernard. Sometimes Jenny, our cat, also comes along.
There were nine walnut trees in the garden when we bought the house, and I since have put in all sorts of fruit trees, including lemon, orange, tangerine, lime, plum, peach, apple, crab apple, and apricot. We grow three kinds of grapes–Tokay, Concord and Thompson seedless–and also have raspberry and boysenberry bushes, and an artichoke bed. Each spring I grow radishes, cabbages, turnips, beefsteak tomatoes, and lettuce. I built a chicken yard in the rear of our land and a miniature railroad that carries peanuts, soda pop, sandwiches, popcorn to guests seated around a small garden house near the pool, for the accommodation of visiting grandchildren.
If there is a better place in the world to be–when I’m not in front of an audience or a camera–someone else will have to name it.”
- Buster Keaton

Grape
A grape is a fruit, botanically a berry, of the deciduous woody vines of the flowering plant genus Vitis. Grapes are a non-climacteric type of fruit, generally occurring in clusters.
The cultivation of grapes began perhaps 8,000 years ago, and the fruit has been used as human food over history. Eaten fresh or in dried form (as raisins, currants and sultanas), grapes also hold cultural significance in many parts of the world, particularly for their role in winemaking. Other grape-derived products include various types of jam, juice, vinegar and oil.
Seedless grapes
Seedless cultivars now make up the overwhelming majority of table grape plantings. Because grapevines are vegetatively propagated by cuttings, the lack of seeds does not present a problem for reproduction. It is an issue for breeders, who must either use a seeded variety as the female parent or rescue embryos early in development using tissue culture techniques.
There are several sources of the seedlessness trait, and essentially all commercial cultivators get it from one of three sources: Thompson Seedless, Russian Seedless, and Black Monukka, all being cultivars of Vitis vinifera. There are currently more than a dozen varieties of seedless grapes. Several, such as Einset Seedless, Benjamin Gunnels's Prime seedless grapes, Reliance, and Venus, have been specifically cultivated for hardiness and quality in the relatively cold climates of northeastern United States and southern Ontario.[23]
An offset to the improved eating quality of seedlessness is the loss of potential health benefits provided by the enriched phytochemical content of grape seeds (see Health claims, below).[24][25] …
Seeds Main articles: Grape seed extract and Grape seed oil
Muscadine grape seeds contain about twice the total polyphenol content of skins.[32] Grape seed oil from crushed seeds is used in cosmeceuticals and skincare products. Grape seed oil, including tocopherols (vitamin E) and high contents of phytosterols and polyunsaturated fatty acids such as linoleic acid, oleic acid, and alpha-linolenic acid.[35][36][37]
In religion ...
The Catholic Church continues to use wine in the celebration of the Eucharist because it is part of the tradition passed down through the ages starting with Jesus Christ at the Last Supper, where Catholics believe the consecrated bread and wine become the body and blood of Jesus Christ, a dogma known as transubstantiation.[48] ...

Freedom Flowers
“Just living isn’t enough,” said the butterfly. “One must also have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower.”  Hans Christian Andersen
When we think of July, Independence Day looms large. Parades, barbecues, family gatherings, music, pool parties, fireworks, and flying the red, white, and blue are all part of the fun. This year is particularly important because of the forthcoming elections where freedom is on the ballot.
We have plenty of sunshine and since just living isn’t enough, what do freedom and flowers have in common?
Both are linked to beauty and an enhanced lifestyle. Flowers connect us to nature and thrill us with their glorious colors, textures, forms, and scents. The beauty of freedom is that we live life with ease. We make choices, feel liberated, and can express ourselves without fear. Both flowers and freedom are fleeting and fragile. They are not free. If we don’t care for and protect our flowers and freedom, they will wilt and die.
To celebrate our national pride, have fun with what I call “freedom” flowers, fruits, vegetables, and accessories that reflect our loyalty to “Old Glory”.  Plant an American flag garden with a pattern using red and white flowers for the stripes with blue flowers punctuated by small white flowers to mimic the stars. Create a patriotic theme in a mixed border with large blocks of the three colors or decorate with curated urns and containers. Add string lights that flicker red, white, and blue, place tiny American flags throughout the garden, or raise a large banner on a flagpole as a focal point. Add a red birdhouse and incorporate windchimes or statuary in unexpected places in the landscape that complement the theme. Don’t forget festive tablecloths, patio pillows, and throws as decorative and utilitarian elements! Add nutrition with bowls of fruit, and platters of vegetables with dips and chips for a cheerful culinary celebration.
Here are a few ideas for the flowers, fruits, and vegetables to utilize in your garden or plant in pots on your patio or porch.
Choices for RED include:
FLOWERS
Roses
Salvia
Hollyhocks
Impatiens
Petunias
Zinnias
Snapdragons
FRUIT
Cherries
Plums
Watermelon
Strawberries
Apples
Raspberries
Red grapes
VEGETABLES
Tomatoes
Red bell peppers
Chili peppers
Radishes
Red potatoes
Red onions
Rhubarb
Choices for Blue include:
FLOWERS
Hydrangeas
Bachelor Buttons
Iris
Forget-me-nots
Lobelia
Delphiniums
Agapanthus
FRUIT
Elderberries
Concord grapes
Blueberries
Damson plums
VEGETABLES
Blue corn
Choices for White include:
FLOWERS
Magnolias
Petunias
Roses
Gardenias
Lilies
Peonies
Impatiens
FRUIT
White peaches
White mulberries
Thompson seedless grapes
VEGETABLES
Cauliflower
Jicama
Turnips
Garlic
White onions
Fennel bulb
Parsnips
Although it is a little silly, I like to sparkle on the 4th. The marvelous memories of the past 4th of July family and friend gatherings bring big smiles to my face.  As I read historical biographies, I am cognizant of the bravery and sacrifices of the men and women who helped in our fight for freedom from 1776 until the present. Did they enjoy some of the same flowers, fruits, and vegetables that we relish today?
Just living is never enough. Oscar Wilde may have said it best. He wrote, “With freedom, books, flowers, and the moon, who could not be happy?”
Appreciate the sunshine, the moon, the flowers, and our freedom.
Happy Gardening. Happy Growing. Happy Independence Day!
