BERLINER BAROCK SOLISTEN
Tumblr media
MOZART: VIOLA CONCERTO/SINFONIA CONCERTANTE

I love listening to bass arias. As a high bass, there is near zero representation of my voice type in music. Most singers are high tenors or baritones at lowest and the small handful of basses making their rounds are basso profundos, which is amazing, but a little lower than my range and tessitura.
I cannot tell you how it makes me feel to hear voices like Rene Pape or Thomas Quasthoff, to hear timbres of notes and projection that usually mean the notes are outside of my range and yet, when I sing along, I find them comfortably in my tessitura.
It's a beautiful thing and I wish there was more bass representation outside of opera, a couple country or soul singers, and the basso profundos of YouTube and acapella groups

Elimden tutup bayram yerine götürmüştü beni babam. Elinden tutup sessiz mezar taşlarının diyarına götürdüm sonra. Kucak dolusu virgül taşımıştım soru işaretlerinin nezaretinde.. Bekledim çok. Tek başıma.. Biri cevap versin istedim gözyaşlarıma. Biri anlasın tedirgin hızlı konuşmalarımı.
Çağırsan gelirdim. Çağırmasan ölürdüm.
İşte şimdi kapına geldim ayaklarımın zoruyla. Kapında durdum öyle.
Fakat işte yoksun yine. Ziller beyhude yankılanıyor boş evde.
Nihayet anladım;
Boşuna yaşamışım ben de..

Hello! What are your favourite classical music pieces to listen to?
hi!
i LOVE chopin’s nocturnes, especially played by arthur rubinstein. and i feel you can’t really go wrong with yiruma, ludovico einaudi, and lorenzo masotto.
when it comes to studying in particular, i love piano renditions of pop songs, because the tune is familiar but as there are no lyrics to compete with the words i’m reading i don’t get distracted, and it’s fun, so it lifts my mood. erik satie’s gymnopedie 1 also really helps me concentrate, as does clair de lune.
in terms of being a bit more extra, i love ‘halloween’-type pieces and have since i was a child, like in the hall of the mountain king, the sorcerer’s apprentice, danse macabre, night on bald mountain, mozart’s requiem in d minor, bach’s toccata and fugue in d minor, liszt’s totentanz, etc.
other misc: i think schubert’s der leiermann is stunning, especially thomas quasthoff’s version. i used to play cello, so i love, e.g., elgar’s cello concerto in e minor, fauré’s élégie (ADORE julian lloyd webber’s version) and romance op 69, vivaldi’s cello pieces, etc ❤️
