Lord Byron In Albanian Dress
Artist: Thomas Phillips (British, 1770–1845)
Genre: Portrait
Date: 1813
Medium: Oil on Canvas
Collection: Government Art Collection, London, England
George Gordon Byron (1788–1824), 6th Baron Byron, Poet
This portrait of Lord Byron by Thomas Phillips depicts the renowned poet and society figure dressed in traditional Albanian costume. He wears an oriental-style, red velvet jacket and headdress, with a velvet cloak draped across his left arm. Byron bought the costume in the region of Epirus (part of modern Greece and Albania) in 1809, while on a Grand Tour across southern Europe with his great friend, the politician John Cam Hobhouse (1786–1869). Byron sat for this painting in 1813, at the age of 25, and evidently had some influence over its appearance. He was particularly sensitive to full-length representations of himself as he had suffered from a lame foot since childhood and had a noticeable limp. He also asked Phillips to repaint his nose in a more flattering fashion.
In the portrait, the translucent paleness of his skin contrasts with the dark velvet of his costume, inspiring Sir Walter Scott to liken the portrait to a beautiful alabaster lamp, lit from within. The portrait was exhibited to great acclaim at the Royal Academy in 1814. It was later bought by Lady Judith Noel, Byron’s mother-in-law, and hung at Kirkby Hall, her residence in Kirkby Mallory, Leicestershire.

5:58 A.M., 0% power (Whumpay)
@whumpay Day 6: Near-Death Experience
Five Nights at Freddy’s (Mike Schmidt & Phone Guy as it always is with me)
Warnings: Depiction of a panic attack, non-consensial touching (nothing super-intimate, just briefly grabbing someone who’s having a panic attack), general Fazbear night shift trauma
Notes: Based on my coworkers AU where, instead of getting hired after Phone Guy quits, Mike’s hired a few months in and it’s a forced-teamwork friendship story wrapped in horror.
I haven’t? Posted my Five Nights stuff in so long? I feel like I should establish a few of my headcanons??
Mike S. is written as unconnected to Michael A. just b/c I first started writing in like. Early 2015 and got attached. PhG is named Thomas Phillips. I think about them a Lot and there’s plenty of content with them on my AO3 and also feel free to ask if curious.
---
When the power shut off, Thomas moved on instinct.
He heard his coworker gasp next to him, felt Mike stumble, and before either could speak Thomas pushed Mike to the floor. Grabbing the flashlight off of the desk, Thomas ducked after Mike, dragging Mike by the back of his vest until they were both huddled under the desk.
Thomas hadn’t lost power since Mike had started working. He'd never had to do this with another person. It was far too cramped, but Thomas did the best he could to wedge them both in what little space they had. He put a hand on Mike’s shoulder, then clapped it over his mouth, while Thomas leaned ever-so-slightly around the desk leg to peer into the hallway.
(And yes, he was sitting further forward, putting himself between the kid and the animatronic. Like he could’ve brought himself to do anything else.)
He felt something wet trickle over his knuckles, and he was vaguely aware of Mike’s trembling. He wanted to say something–maybe something reassuring, maybe just to tell him to hold still–but he didn’t dare. Especially when he heard footsteps in the hallway.
The tiniest noise slipped through Thomas’s fingers, and Thomas felt his own jaw clench. This was it. He caught his free hand drifting over the ring hanging from the chain tucked under his shirt, but forced himself to move that hand to the flashlight sitting next to him.
He wasn’t sure what he planned to do with it. Maybe use the light as a distraction, hope that the old bugs were never fixed and that the animatronics would lock up if hit with bright light. He probably wouldn’t have time to get away. Maybe he could throw Mike out and get him to run. He wasn’t sure where to, and he was half-sure the kid wouldn’t be able to stand at the moment.
So he just closed his eyes.
The heavy footsteps stopped right in front of the desk. Four seconds later, he heard Mike’s watch beep.
Thomas didn’t dare to move, not until the footsteps went the other direction and not until he’d counted to twenty after that. Then he sighed, feeling his entire body shake with the effort. They were alive. Somehow. They’d gotten lucky.
It was only then that he heard the sobbing.
Mike had pressed himself into the opposite corner (Thomas might’ve noticed that Mike pulled away as soon as the footsteps left the office), breathing ragged, whole body trembling. He took a deep, desperate breath, audibly choking and gasping for air, then bit down on the back of his hand, hard enough that Thomas was sure that it would bruise.
Thomas went to move from under the desk, to give Mike a bit more space, but Mike’s other hand shot out and grabbed a fistful of Thomas’s uniform. “Schmidt,” Thomas whispered. “M-Mike, it’s– it’s alright, our shift’s over–”
The words died on his lips as he looked from Mike’s hand to his eyes. His glasses were fogged up with tears and sweat, and it was only then that Thomas fully processed that Mike was crying. Tears and snot dribbled down his face, his whole body shuttered, but he still looked away the second he saw Thomas staring.
Instinct kicked in again, and before Thomas knew it, he’d grabbed Mike by the arms and dragged him from the corner. Mike flinched in response, only to go completely still when Thomas cupped the side of his head. “Shh, i-it’s alright, breathe…” Thomas adjusted his other hand, squeezing Mike’s bicep gently. “Just… just follow my rhythm, okay? Count to five, while you breathe…”
Mike closed his eyes, trembling even as he followed Thomas’s instructions. Thomas silently counted to himself, and when he reached five, he let up the pressure on Mike’s arm. “There, now breathe out… You’re doing great, okay?”
It took several cycles to bring Mike’s breathing back to a normal pace, but it eventually settled. The hand on his face moved back to his shoulder, and Thomas felt himself smile in spite of everything. "H-hey, it's alright kid, I've got you…"
He expected a sharp response–the kid always seemed ready to snap any time Thomas fed him that false reassurance–but all he got was a broken whimpering sound in response. Before Thomas could say anything else, Mike collapsed against him, burying his face in Thomas’s shoulder. Thomas’s arms wrapped around Mike, pulling him closer, and he wasn’t doing it consciously, he just felt the kid’s fingers digging into the back of Thomas’s shirt and the wet spots forming on his sleeves and the way Mike’s chest heaved with another broken sob and what else was he supposed to do?
One of Thomas’s hands moved to the back of Mike’s head, the other to the small of his back, and he held Mike as tightly against his own body as he could. Mike’s sobs fizzled out into half-hearted whines, and the tension in his shoulders was replaced with pure exhaustion. When Thomas glanced down, he could still see a glint of blue, so he knew Mike was still awake. Probably not much more than that.
Thomas’s own legs were falling asleep, but he wasn’t going to move. Not until Mike sat up. Not until Mike pulled away, wiped his eyes, mumbled his gratitude, and made it to his feet.
Until then, they were going to stay right where they were.

OKAY SO HERE ARE RANDOM HAMILTON THE MUSICAL FACTS NO ONE ASKED FOR
• After Maria mentions she is "helpless" in Say No To This, Eliza doesn't mention it for the rest of the play
• In That Would Be Enough, Eliza says: "I wrote to the general a month ago". In Stay Alive we can see her writing the letter
• In Take A Break, when Angelica and Eliza reunite and say each other's names there is a slight pause for "and Peggy"
• In Stay Alive (reprise), Phillip says to Eliza "Mom, I'm sorry for forgetting what you taught me" because Eliza taught him how to count to 10 in Take A Break and he thought that mr. Eaker counted to 10 even though he didn't
• Phillip had trouble with number 7 in Take A Break, got shot at number 7 and died at Sept-7 (guess it wasn't exactly his lucky number)
• Burr always repeats that he's willing to wait for it and Alexander always repeats that he's not throwing away his shot, but in The World Was Wide Enough, Burr doesn't wait for it and shoots Alexander and Alexander throws away his shot by aiming his pistol at the sky
• In Hurricane, Alexander says: "I couldn't seem to die" and the backing vocals/ensemble say: "Wait for it, wait for it, wait for it, wait for it.." because Burr is going to shoot him in 9 songs
• If we count all of the songs in Hamilton + Lauren's interlude, there is exactly 47 songs. 47 is also the age Alexander Hamilton died at
• In Best Of Wives And Best Of Women both Alexander and Eliza say exactly 37 words, which is also how many songs they were married for in the musical
• In Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story when Eliza says: "I speak out against slavery," Washington makes a surprised face behind her because he owned around 120 slaves
• In What'd I miss when Jefferson gets the letter from Washington he says: "Sally, be a lamb, darlin' won't you open it," reffering to a slave of his

I haven’t posted drawings on this blog for a very long time, because I’m busy at work and am often so tired that I don’t have time to draw. But I have drawings that have accumulated during this time and one of the reasons why I don’t post it on tumblr is because I’m too lazy to write in eng by myself, this text was written on translator, lol

Batfam Goes to See Hamilton (Thanks to Jason Todd)
note: based on the fact that i saw hamilton on broadway today!
So, Jason somehow managed to drag the entire Batfam to see Hamilton—because yes, Red Hood is a theater nerd, and apparently, none of them can say no when he’s excited about something. Here’s how it went down:
Jason Todd: Living for it. Jason knows all the lyrics by heart and is practically singing under his breath the whole time. He’s vibing hard to every song, mouthing along to My Shot like he’s in the show. You’d think he was a one-man standing ovation from the way he keeps reacting to every scene. He also goes full nerd mode explaining all the historical inaccuracies and why they don’t matter because the storytelling is incredible.
Bruce Wayne: Very confused, but engaged. He’s trying to get into it, but you can see the gears turning in his head, over-analyzing every political angle and historical context. He does appreciate the themes of legacy, sacrifice, and honor (classic Bruce). He might’ve even shed a few tears during It’s Quiet Uptown, but he’ll deny it forever.
Dick Grayson: Having the time of his life. Dick is the one clapping the loudest, laughing at all the jokes, and crying during the emotional songs. He’s completely caught up in the performance, and by the time The Room Where It Happens comes on, he’s all but bouncing in his seat. He also loves the choreography and probably made a mental note to learn the dances later.
Tim Drake: Secretly loving it but pretending to be indifferent. Tim walked in like he was only going to humor Jason, but by the end of Act 1, he’s fully invested. He tries to keep a straight face, but you can catch him mouthing the words to Wait for It and tapping his fingers during The Room Where It Happens. He’s obsessed with the way the show mixes history, strategy, and storytelling, and he’s definitely taking mental notes on things to google later for a deep dive into historical rabbit holes. After the show, he’s already re-watching bootleg clips on YouTube, but if anyone asks, he’ll just say, “It was fine.”
Damian Wayne: Not impressed. Damian doesn’t see the appeal. He’s sitting there with his arms crossed, giving side-eye to everyone clapping or singing along. “I could’ve done better,” he mutters after Guns and Ships, but you catch him tapping his foot during Yorktown, and he seems unusually focused during the duel scenes. Maybe it’s growing on him… but he’ll never admit it.
Stephanie Brown: Living her best life. Steph is totally into it. She’s laughing at all the jokes, especially King George’s bits, and probably even got Bruce to crack a smile. She’s belting out Helpless and Satisfied in her seat and whispering excitedly to Cass about how they should come back for the next performance. She’s already planning a Hamilton-themed karaoke night after.
Cassandra Cain: Loving the energy. Cass isn’t much for words, but she’s totally feeling the performance. The choreography and intensity of the actors keep her fully engaged. She’s watching every movement with laser focus, and you can see her appreciating the way the actors tell the story through body language. She’s not super vocal about it, but afterward, she signs to Jason that it was “powerful.”
Duke Thomas: Totally into the music. Duke is all about the beats and rhythm. He’s vibing in his seat, really feeling the music and lyrics. You catch him nodding along during Wait for It and The Room Where It Happens, and he’s probably already added the soundtrack to his Spotify. He’s impressed by the storytelling through music and keeps shooting Jason looks like, “Okay, you were right—this is awesome.”
At the end of the show, Jason’s the first to stand up, clapping like his life depends on it, and despite the varied reactions, everyone else follows suit.
#tim drake#jason todd#dick grayson#bruce wayne#damian wayne#stephanie brown#cassandra cain#duke thomas#batfam#the batfam go see hamilton#they all leave with a ne found appreciation for musical theater and a few new songs in their playlists#i just watched hamilton on broadway and it was the greatest thing ever#phillips actor naruto ran up the stairs and i lost it#they did so good like i think the cast did soo good embodying the characters#i already wanna go again#the reactions arent well thought out so i dont think this is accurate to how i think they would actually react ykwim?
