Lord Byron In Albanian Dress
Artist: Thomas Phillips (British, 1770–1845)
Genre: Portrait
Date: 1813
Medium: Oil on Canvas
Collection: Government Art Collection, London, England
George Gordon Byron (1788–1824), 6th Baron Byron, Poet
This portrait of Lord Byron by Thomas Phillips depicts the renowned poet and society figure dressed in traditional Albanian costume. He wears an oriental-style, red velvet jacket and headdress, with a velvet cloak draped across his left arm. Byron bought the costume in the region of Epirus (part of modern Greece and Albania) in 1809, while on a Grand Tour across southern Europe with his great friend, the politician John Cam Hobhouse (1786–1869). Byron sat for this painting in 1813, at the age of 25, and evidently had some influence over its appearance. He was particularly sensitive to full-length representations of himself as he had suffered from a lame foot since childhood and had a noticeable limp. He also asked Phillips to repaint his nose in a more flattering fashion.
In the portrait, the translucent paleness of his skin contrasts with the dark velvet of his costume, inspiring Sir Walter Scott to liken the portrait to a beautiful alabaster lamp, lit from within. The portrait was exhibited to great acclaim at the Royal Academy in 1814. It was later bought by Lady Judith Noel, Byron’s mother-in-law, and hung at Kirkby Hall, her residence in Kirkby Mallory, Leicestershire.

Follow Him (FNAF February Day 7)
(B/C I couldn’t figure anything out for Day 6. Will report back if I change my mind)
Summery:
February 7th- Follow Me
Don’t follow him. On this day, create something around the phrase “Follow Me.”
I refuse to give context, since doing risks spoiling the main story, even though this particular drabble is decidedly not canon. I also can’t provide fully accurate tags, for that same reason. Enjoy your confusion and sinking feeling! <3
The janitor wasn’t sure what he expected to see back there, but… But he had to follow, he thought. Something was off with his friend, and… and he wanted to be sure he was okay.
Now, though, one blow from the event manager had pinned him to the wall, and the janitor could only look up in surprise at somebody he’d thought he knew. “D-D-Daniel…?!”
“Quiet.” There was an odd frantic edge to his voice, as if even he didn’t want to be back here. “Thomas, I told you not to follow me.”
“I-I, uh…” The thought was lost, though, upon catching a glimpse of a stain on the floor behind his attacker. “I-Is that-?”
“I didn’t want to do this.” Thrown like a ragdoll to the floor with a gasp of pain. “You made me do this.”
Before finding out what ‘this’’ was, the janitor scrambled to his feet. Run for the door. The police were already here. Please, please, I don’t want to die.
He failed to notice that he wasn’t being followed anymore.

Locket set with miniature of George IV (1762-1830) when Prince of Wales
This miniature is thought to be a copy Henry Bone (1755-1834) of one of many portraits by Thomas Philips, who exhibited a similar portrait at the Royal Academy, known from a mezzotint by William Barney. The Prince of Wales is shown wearing the Star of the Order of the Garter.
Inscribed by the artist on the reverse in black paint: H.R.H. the / Prince of Wales / Hy Bone A.R.A. / pinxt / July 1806. The locket hangs from a fine gold chain with, at the other end, another small locket engraved tout à vous (all for you) and containing a lock of fair hair under a diamond.
