Hey, would you consider writing headcanons for Thomas Barrow if he had a teen sister reader? Similar to the being friends with one. Maybe about their home lives before Thomas was employed at Downton, their relationship, when Thomas went to war, and if (when old enough) sister reader joins her brother at works at Downton.
Also, loved the Thomas Barrow series! It was so sweet and very well written 😁
Would really appreciate it! Don’t worry if not! Xx

a/n: thank you so much for this request!! thomas is actually my roman empire and I love writing for him. I’m currently in s2 in my rewatch and I’m in love with him all over again. anyways I’m so glad you liked my thomas series that makes me so happy and i hope you enjoy this too <3 also I don’t usually add cuts for my headcanons but these ended up being rather long so read them after the cut !! 🍒💋
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~°~❦~°~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
being thomas’s teen sister would include…
ok so…
thomas definitely read to you when you were to little to read on your own
he once scared you so much that you were sure you were going to get eaten by the monster in the wardrobe
and he had to sleep with you in your room for a week after that
as you got older he became so freaking protective of you
he would take the blame for your mistakes
and secretly pass you all his desserts
he would tell you everything that he wouldn’t tell anyone else
like how he wasn’t interested in any of the girls in your village
when he went off to work at downtown you cried for days
and he looked away as he left so you couldn’t tell that so did he
he would write to you every week
so much so that—
“fancy that, thomas has a sweetheart”
“well there’d be a first, no he’s writing to that sister he’s so fond of”
“oh leave off, o’brien, i can write to whoever i like”
he would try to hide his troubles from you in his letters but you could always tell that something was the matter
when you got the news that he had to go to war, you couldn’t eat or sleep for weeks not knowing what was happening to him
and amongst his prayers to live every night he prayed you were safe at home
when he was taken off the front lines and sent to be a medic at the hospital you were so relieved that you convinced your parents to let you go visit him
you gave him the biggest hug of his life and he didn’t let you go
when you became old enough and expressed your interest thomas got you a job at downton as a maid
he probably got some other maid fired in order to do it but we just won’t talk about that
anyways once you got there he made it his job to teach you everything you’d need to know
and make sure you were taken care of
all of the other servants loved you from the moment they met you
mostly because thomas is a different person when you’re around
“i’m sure thomas’ll find some way to scheme his way out of it and make me look like the fool”
“not anymore, he’s gone soft now hasn’t he? what with that sister of his around. rubs off on him, i reckon”
you become close friends with Anna
and, when she begins working there, Baxter, who you’ve known since you were a kid
you two definitely complain about and tease Thomas much to his dismay
he’s totally walked in on you telling a story about him from childhood and had to endure teasing for weeks
“…and his britches just ripped right down the center.”
he always, after much pestering on your part, confides in you about everything
(jimmy, his job, richard, guy)
and values your ‘young, bright opinions’
you made him mittens once and he wears them whenever he can
even though they ‘itch like the devil’
one time one of the footmen showed interest in you and thomas went full older brother mode on him
and you assured him you you didn’t need his protection
until he jilted you and you let thomas give him a piece of his mind and hold you while you cried
you read the papers together and you love hearing his commentary on everything going on in the world
if something’s bothering you he’ll get it out of you one way or another
“go on, (y/n), you can tell your brother thomas”
and he actually gives really good advice
he recognizes how he doesn’t know how he’d go on without you sometimes
and how even when no one was there for him you were
thomas just cares for you so much
and (even though he’d never admit it) loves you more than anyone or anything else in this world
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~°~❦~°~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ˋ°•*⁀➷ hope you enjoyed this!! have a lovely day babes <3🩰🪐

Thomas Barrow x Teen!reader - learning together
Hi do you want to write about Thomas niece or nephew? Teen Reader lost their parent and is now send to Thomas. And Thomas does not know how to deal with a teenager. Or something like that. Thanks. - Anon💜
Standing behind the two police officers, you had your hands clasped behind your back as you looked around.
It was strange that the officers brought you here, but they told you it was because you weee too young to be living alone and your uncle was the only one left to care for you.
The door was opened.
“We have come to speak to Lord Grantham and a Mr Thomas Barrow.”
“Yes, right this way they are in the drawing room.”
The officers nodded and led you inside the building and you looked at the older man who had opened the door.
“Thank you..” you mumbled.
With that, you three followed him through to the drawing room.
“The officers and the young lady the letter said about my Lord.”
“Thank you Carson, have some tea brought up and send Thomas up as well.”
“Very good my lord.”
The man left again and you bowed your head slightly in respect to Lord Grantham.
“Have a seat, all of you, let us talk while we wait for Thomas.”
You all sat down, and you looked around in fascination.
The two officers told Lord Grantham about why they had brought you here and why he had to take part in this meeting as well.
You weren’t paying much attention to it all really, lost in your own mind taking everything in.
“It is a big house, isn’t it?”
You snapped your head to the man.
“Yes my lord, it is.”
“Have you ever been in such a big house?” He asked.
You shook your head and he smiled slightly.
“What’s your name?”
“(Y/N) my lord, (Y/N) Barrow.”
“It is a pleasure to meet you, I am Lord Grantham.”
You nodded your head, and you fiddled with your dress nervously as you stared at the ground.
“You called my lord?”
You didn’t look up at the voice.
“Ah yes Thomas, come in. We have something to discuss.”
“Have I done something wrong my lord?”
“Quite the opposite.”
Thomas looked at the police officers then he looked at you and he furrowed his brows.
“(Y/N)?”
You didn’t look up at him and he looked to Lord Grantham who gestured for him to sit down, so he did and he stared at you for a moment.
“Where is your mother?” He asked quietly.
“Gone…”
You looked up at your uncle.
“She’s gone…”
Thomas draw a small breath and he nodded his head.
“When?”
“A couple of months ago Mr Barrow, (Y/N) has been running from town to town and eventually we caught up with her and tracked you down to here. She’s too young to be living on her own, and your sister specified in her will that the girl would go into your care.”
“I don’t know how to look after a kid.”
“I can go…”
“No, no absolutely not. You have just lost your mother, you can’t go.” Lord Grantham said.
You looked up at him.
“Have you worked before?”
“No my Lord.”
“Can you learn to work?”
“Yes my lord.”
He smiled and nodded his head.
“Right it’s settled then, you will be the new kitchen maid. You will settled in, and then you can take a week to learn everything, and Thomas you can have a few days off to spend with your niece.”
“That is very generous of you my lord, thank you.”
“Thank you my lord…”
With it settled, a house maid was called up to show you to your room, and then you were taken down to the servants hall.
Thomas stood next to you.
“They look nothing alike..”
“That’s because he’s not her father Daisy, he’s her uncle why on earth would they look alike?” Mrs Patmore scoffed.
“We are sorry to hear of your loss, both of you.” Mr Bates said gently.
“It’s fine, wasn’t that close to my sister anyway.” Thomas said.
You clenched your jaw a little, staring at the ground.
“Thank you Mr Bates…” you whispered.
“Would you like some tea? Anything to eat?” Mrs Hughes offered.
You softly shook your head and you excused yourself and left the room.
“We’ll go after her you fool!” Mr Carson hissed.
“What am I supposed to do?! I don’t know how to look after a teenager!” Thomas hissed back.
“Just comfort her, she’s just lost her mother for heavens sake.” O’Brian snapped at him.
“Fine!”
Thomas stormed off to find you, and eventually he found you standing outside, looking over the estate as the sun set over it.
He stood next to you, lighting his cigarette.
“You don’t have to be out here…”
“Tell them lot that.”
You flicked your eyes to him and turned away and Thomas looked down at you.
Yes, he’d met you a few times when you were a child, smiling and happy and bubbly.
Now you were just empty, soft spoken, broken.
“How did it happen?”
“Fire…”
Thomas glanced at you to see you battling your tears in your eyes.
“Some young men… thought they had the right house…”
Thomas carefully watched you.
“They were drunk, and of course they ran away…”
You took a shaky breath.
“It.. it was hot… really hot.. and I tried to find mama, but I couldn’t reach her…”
“You were in the house?”
You nodded your head and reached down, pulling your gloves of both your hands, you showed him you left hand, and rolled your sleeve up a little to show him more.
Burned.
Once you were sure he had seen you quickly hid them again.
“I heard cry and beg me to leave, so I did… I should’ve stayed…”
“Then you would be dead too.”
“Maybe that would be better…”
Thomas sighed, putting his cigarette between his lips he pulled his gloved off, and showed you his hand.
You looked at it, carefully turning his hand around.
“What happened…?”
“War happened.”
You nodded and let his hand go and he covered it back up again.
“Perhaps we are both broken.” He said.
“Maybe so…”
Thomas took his cigarette out his mouth and blew some smoke.
“I’m not sure how to raise a teenager.” He said.
“I can raise myself.”
“Thank goodness for that, otherwise I’d mess up somewhere down the line.”
You didn’t smile or laugh, and he frowned a little bit unsure what to do.
Sighing, he turned to face the sunset with you.
“Mama and I always watched the sunset…”
Thomas said nothing, but he did reach out, placing an unsure hand on your shoulder and he squeezed it a little.
You glanced at his hand but said nothing, you went back to watching the sunset.
“You’ll get better.”
You said nothing.
Neither of you knew what to do, he had never raised or dealt with a teenager before, and you had never been away from your mother.
You were both just as lost in this situation, not knowing what to do, and hopefully because of that, you could guide one another and work this out

Thomas Barrow x Sister!reader - a day off
Hey, could I request a Thomas Barrow x teen sister reader (I think I have a bit of a obsession, I just love Thomas 😅) set during the last episode of series 4 when the servants all go to the beach. Just wholesome brother sister time, maybe with a dash of Miss Baxter and Jimmy! Maybe Thomas watches as Jimmy and Miss Baxter play with sister reader and Thomas gets a bit jealous, either miss Baxter or mrs Hughes encourage him to relax and spent time with her. the Barrow siblings banter and he ends up chasing sister reader around the beach (I don’t know if it is within character for Thomas but seeing how he interacts with the children a Downton later in the the series I think it can be within reason 😂) - Anon💜
You had never been to the beach before, you didn’t know what to do or where to go, so you hung near the edge unsure about what to do with yourself.
“Come on, you can relax.” Miss Baxter smiled.
Looking up at the woman who had been around your whole life, supporting you and your brother, you frowned a little bit.
“I don’t know what to do…” you mumbled.
You did try to find your older brother, yet he was absolutely no where to be found, so you looked back at her.
Reaching out, you took her hand and shuffled a little closer to her side.
“How about we start simple?” She asked.
“Like what?” You asked.
Miss Baxter smiled down at you and led you further on to the beach, over to where some of the men were playing some sort of ball game.
Standing behind her, you watched them a little unsure.
“Can we go to the water Miss Baxter?” You asked.
“Of course we can.”
She walked over to the waters edge and you knelt down, resting your knees in the sand as you watched it.
Miss Baxter smiled down at you, and she looked over as Jimmy walked over to the pair of you, standing next to you on the other side.
“What are you doing (Y/N)?” Jimmy asked.
“I have never seen the ocean before.” You said.
He laughed a little and crouched down next to you.
“Well, how about instead of staring at the water we see what games there is.”
You looked at him.
“Can Miss Baxter come too?”
“Of course.”
So that’s what the three of you did.
You wondered the beach, learned a few new games, built what were supposed to be sandcastles and ran around laughing and enjoying your time.
Your brother on the other hand was sat on a towel, watching you with a heavy frown on his face.
He hadn’t seen you smile and laugh like that since you were a little kid, and after spending many years away from you, he wasn’t sure how to interacts with you.
He always said or did the wrong thing.
More often than not Thomas said or did something that would upset you, or make you angry with him.
He never meant to, but he had lost touch in how to interact with you. He was so used to how he behaved around all the others, it’s how he automatically behaved around you as well.
And he was accidentally pushing you away.
Sighing a little to himself, he turned his attention back to his book, clenching his jaw a little bit.
“Sitting down here and moping will do you no good Mr Barrow.” Mrs Hughes spoke.
He looked up at her and narrowed his eyes a little bit.
“If you wish to spend time with your sister simply just go and spend time with her.”
“I see no point, she seems rather happy.”
“Yet you do not, sitting here and contemplating what you will do will just waste time.”
“Who are you to tell me what to do?”
Thomas turned away and looked at you.
“Thomas Barrow get up and go and spend some time with your sister.” Mrs Hughes scolded.
He looked up at her slightly shocked.
“If you do not I will send her over here.”
“She is fine.”
“You need to relax, spend some time together and get to know each other again. It has been a long time since you two were together, if you do not go see her now and try make amends you may never get the chance to again.”
With that she walked away.
Thomas sat there looking at his book, trying to focus, concentrate on the words on the page yet he couldn’t.
Because as much as he hated to admit it, he knew that Mrs Hughes was right.
He needed to go and make amends with you, spend time with you while he could before you all headed back to your hectic lives. Before he couldn’t spend any proper time with you for god knows how long.
Setting the book aside, Thomas pushed himself up with a heavy sigh and he made his way over the sand.
You didn’t notice him approaching you, but Jimmy and Miss Baxter did, and they smiled at him before leaving.
You were too busy standing in the waters edge, hands balled into your dress to hold it up so it wouldn’t get went.
You were smiling to yourself, kicking the water slightly, but unwilling to go any further than the ankle depth that you were already at.
“You are allowed to go further in.” Thomas said.
You made a startled noise, you turned around, mindful of your dress and looked at your older brother with a small smile.
“I know, but I cannot swim and have no intention of getting my dress wet.” You explained.
He nodded his head and looked around, clasping his hands behind his back.
“Come with me for some ice cream.” He said.
“What about everybody else?”
“If they want ice cream they can get it themselves. Come along now, before you overheat.”
You smiled a little more as you came out of the water, following him to his towel so you could dry your feet and put your shoes back on.
You got up again and trialed after him, looking around at everything.
“Why have you not played any games Thomas?” You asked.
“I’m far to old to play childish games.”
“Nobody is too old.” You beamed.
Thomas looked at you and he rolled his eyes.
“Even if I were not too old, nobody would like to play games with me, nobody likes me as you know (Y/N).”
You sat down at a table.
“I would play games with you Thomas, we used to play games all the time. I miss those days.”
Thomas took a small breath and he looked at you.
“I do as well, but times change, you know this.”
You shrugged a little at your bright and looked around before turning your attention back to him.
“Will you play a game with me?”
“What game?” He sighed.
You grinned from ear to ear.
“All of them!”
You finished your ice cream, waiting for him to finish before dragging him back to the beach to play games with you.
He didn’t want to, but he didn’t refuse either, he just went along with whatever game you wanted to play.
From building sandcastles, to watching you jump a little bit in the water, water the boys play their football and trying to make him join in.
He went along with whatever you wanted to do, because he just enjoyed spending the time with you.
And anyone that saw the pair of you couldn’t help but smile at you two finally getting along and spending time with one another

Thomas Barrow x sister!reader - present
Because in Germany we say all things are three... I have one last request for you. Can you please write a Thomas Barrow x teen reader story. Where R is working as a housemaid in Downton. It's her first christmas there. And she gives Thomas a present. Prompt Number 12 & 18. 🎁 - Anon💜
12: “I got you something.” “Really?!”
18: “I’ve never had a present before.” “Really?” “Yeah.” “Well, I’ve got one just for you.”
Thomas was never a fan of Christmas or any holidays like that, whereas you loved it, so he knew when you came to Downton that he wouldn’t have a choice but the celebrate with you.
It was a busy day of course, so neither of you saw much of one another even when it came to dinner.
Because as he was eating, you were upstairs cleaning after the party.
So it was late when you finally made your way back down to the servants hall, and he was the only person that was awake.
Smiling, you walked over to stand on the opposite side of the table to him.
“Thomas.”
“(Y/N).”
He smiled gently.
“Merry Christmas.” He said quietly.
“Merry Christmas.”
Getting up, he walked over to hug you briefly before he moved away, and he gestured to the chairs by the fire.
Nodding, you waited for him to sit down before holding a hand up to him.
“Wait here a moment.”
Walking away, you took a few moments before you emerged again with a grin on your face.
Thomas glanced at you briefly before going back to watching the fire.
“I got you something.”
His head snapped up.
Really?!”
It was the first time you had ever seen him excited for something, genuinely curious and almost happy about it.
Smiling, you nodded.
Reaching from behind your back, you showed him a small box.
Walking over, you sat on the chair in front of him and he carefully took it, examining the box.
“I’ve never had a present before.” He mumbled.
“Really?”
Thomas looked up at you, nodding his head before going back to looking at the box.
“Yeah.”
“Well, I’ve got one just for you.”
He looked at you again.
“It’s just for me?”
It broke your heart to hear the uncertainty in his voice.
“Of course it is Thomas, it is all yours. Nobody else’s.”
He slowly reached to take the lid from the box, setting it aside to reach inside, pulling out a pocket watch.
He turned it around in his hands, running his hands along the words on the back.
“To my brother Thomas, remember I love you..”
“Open it.”
So he did.
“I’m proud of you.” He read.
Thomas took a small breath, slowly setting it aside as he looked at you, tears brimming his eyes.
“That must of cost you everything…”
“No.. I already had the watch, I just got it engraved.”
“You needn’t spend that money on me…”
“You’re my brother Thomas, you always sent me gifts. I wanted to get you something.”
He chuckled a little, nodding his head as he went back to admiring the watch.
“Well, it is wonderful. Thank you.”
You beamed happily at him, and he smiled at you.
He had never gotten a present before, and he couldn’t be happier for the first ever present he received

Thomas Barrow x sister!reader - different roads but still family
Hey, was wondering if you’d be able to write a flashback of sorts to Thomas Barrow x sister readers childhood. Maybe just a couple of wholesome memories from before Thomas’s life at Downton and his relationship with younger sister reader. Would be nice to see a different side to Thomas from the persona we see in Downton, though giving what he mentioned about his childhood (regarding his father and such) I’m unsure what he would have been like as a kid and young teen. - Anon💜
Thomas sat on his bed, looking at the childish drawing in his hands.
It was one of his most prized possessions, and he ran his thumb along the name scrawled messily on the bottom corner.
(Y/N) Barrow.
His sister, his little sister whom he had up and left in a terrible household because he couldn’t bare to be there anymore.
He sometimes if you were still just as happy as you were as a child, and wondered what you had done with yourself.
He wondered if you found yourself recalling life all those years ago like he did, like he was doing.
“Father will not be pleased with this.”
You looked up at your older brother, grinning a little bit.
You held the toy out to him, shaking it in your hands a little bit.
“You must use your words if you want something.”
You didn’t like speaking, and often didn’t say a word if anybody else was around, but when it was you and Thomas sometimes you would speak.
Thought he always had to remind you to use words when there was something you wanted from him.
“Play?” You asked.
Thomas sighed, shaking his head.
“I have no time, I must do the chores before father gets home.”
Your grin fell a little bit.
“Play?” You asked a little sadly.
Thomas sighed heavily this time, sitting down on the floor, taking the toy from you.
“Fine, but only for a few moments, then I must do the chores (Y/N).”
You beamed from ear to ear and shuffled over to sit next to him, grabbing a stick you had brought in from outside and began to hit the floor.
Thomas rolled his eyes but said nothing, because as long as he took the stick out and cleaned the dirt it was fine.
You got him to play games for a short while before he got up to begin to do his chores, and you got up to follow him.
Thomas smiled a little as he remembered how you were like his little shadow, wherever he went you wanted to go with him.
And you would.
But not all the memories were happy.
You sat next to your brother on the grass, and you reached into your pockets, pulling out some food for him.
“Im not hungry.”
“Maybe not, but you must eat Thomas, please.”
He said nothing.
“You know it is okay to cry if you want to.”
“A man does not cry.” He snapped.
You turned to look at him slightly.
“Everybody must cry sometimes Thomas Barrow, to cry does not mean you are weak or any less than a man. It means you have some emotions you need to let out, and that is okay.”
“Well perhaps you should tell father that.”
You smiled softly at him, reaching out to take his hand.
“Father is a horrible man, you needn’t pay any mind to what he says. One day you are going to become so successful, then father will ever regret being so nasty towards you.”
“Do not say what you do not mean.”
“I mean it very much, you are a good person, and the best brother. I love you very much Thomas.”
He glanced at you.
“Will you always love me? Even if I did not become successful? Even with everything father says…?”
You held out your arms for him.
“Of course I will.”
Thomas leant forward to hug him, and you smiled sadly.
“Father will be home late today, go Thomas. Run and never look back..” you whispered.
He pulled away with a shocked look.
“I cannot leave you here.”
“I will be fine, promise me you will go Thomas. You must go, please, to be safe.”
“And what about you?”
“Father is kinder on me than he is on you.”
Thomas went ti argue, but the look in your eyes told him there was something you knew that he didn’t.
So he made the most of that evening with you, spending all evening by your side, even if it was just to do chores before he left.
Thomas was there for everything, he taught you how to read and write when he could, he taught you everything you needed to know to survive.
In return, you protected him the best you could, always made him smile and comforted him.
And thinking about you brought tears to the otherwise emotionless man’s eyes.
Because he loved you.
Sighing softly, he set the picture back in the bow and closed it, running a hand down his face as he steeled his emotions.
Thomas took a breath and returned to his duties, getting ready for the dinner party that was being thrown tonight.
As he was walking around serving drinks, the doors were opened again, and Mr Carson stepped in.
“The honourable Lady (Y/N) has arrived my lord.”
“Ah brilliant, bring her through, Barrow set her a place at the table.”
“Very good my lord.”
Thomas rushed around collecting last minute things, mumbling how people should just learn to turn up on time to events.
When he came back, he set another plate and glass down, and he pulled the chair out.
“I do apologise Lord Grantham, there was a slight mix up with my schedule.”
“You needn’t apologise, you are here and that is what counts, come and sit.”
Thomas returned to his spot, and he watched as the newcomer came walking through, and his eyes were glued to her.
Because he would recognise his baby sister anywhere.
And apparently you recognised him as well because you froze in your place as you stared at him.
“Is there a problem? We can send Barrow away if he makes you uncomfortable.” Lady Cora spoke.
“No, please, let him stay.”
You smiled, stepping away from the table as you walked over to him.
“My big brother, an esteemed butler, who would have thought?” You asked gently.
“Technically I am not a butler, I am under butler.”
“That does not matter, you made something of yourself Thomas, that’s what counts.”
You reached up and hugged him, and he hugged you back, letting out a small breath.
“Little (Y/N), a lady, who would have thought?” He whispered.
You turned to the lord of the house.
“May I request my brother sits with me? I understand he may not be allowed to dine with us, but I should like for him to at least sit by my side.”
“Well… I suppose we have no need for so many to be acting as footmen tonight..” lord Grantham mumbled.
“Ignore him, of course Barrow my sit with you Lady (Y/N).”
You smiled, sitting down, gesturing for him to sit next to you.
He had so many questions for you, but for now they didn’t matter. What mattered was he knew you were okay, and he could see you had made a name for yourself.
And Thomas couldn’t be more proud of you

Thomas Barrow x Sister!reader - the best big brother
Hi, do you want to write about Thomas Barrows little sister? One day his little sister (maybe Teen Reader) comes to Downton because she needs a place to stay and some comfort from her brother? - Anon💜
You didn’t have anywhere to go, you had spent nearly a year just going from place to place, trying to figure something out, and eventually you found yourself standing at the side door of the large building, nervously waiting for someone to open the door.
It opened and a man looked at you, and he smiled softly.
“Yes, May I help you?”
“I… Uhm… I’m looking for Thomas Barrow…” you whispered.
“Is there any reason for your visit?” He asked.
“I… I just need to see him…”
He nodded his head and looked around.
“Give me a few minutes, I will fetch Mr Carson for you.”
You nodded and you watched as the door closed.
You debated leaving, maybe you shouldn’t have come, maybe you should just leave before you bothered anyone.
You went to turned around and the door quickly opened so you turned around again.
“I take it you are the young lady searching for Thomas?” He asked.
“Yes sir…”
“What is the purpose of this visit, he is a busy man.”
You opened your mount and quickly closed it again.
“Sorry I shouldn’t have come.”
Picking up your case, you turned around and rushed down the steps.
“(Y/N)?”
You froze, and set your case down and turned around again.
“(Y/N) why are you here?”
Thomas pushed past the man at the door.
“Thomas!”
Thomas said nothing and he stood in front of you and you looked away.
“What happened?” He asked quietly.
“I… I cannot stay there Thomas…”
You clenched your jaw, trying to fight back your tears.
Thomas looked around and he picked up your case.
“Follow me.”
You nodded and trailed behind you, he led you into a hallway, spoke quietly with someone and she led you both into a separate room.
She stood with her arms crossed while your brother sat you down and he sat in front of you.
“How did you get here?” He asked.
“Train…”
“How long have you been travelling?”
You looked up at Thomas.
“On and off for a year up and down the country…” you whispered.
“A year?!”
You looked at the woman and nodded your head.
“I wasn’t sure as to what to do… so I just kept travelling… I finally decided to come here but that was a mistake I’m sorry I disturbed you.”
You stood up and Thomas took your hand, looking at you.
“Sit down.”
You slowly sat down again.
“When was the last time you ate?” He asked.
“A few days ago…”
“Right I’ll bring her some food and tea, Thomas stay here with her.”
Thomas nodded his head and when the door closed he immediately looked to you.
“What happened? I thought you were with father?”
“Father is not a nice man…”
Thomas sighed slightly, nodding his head and he stood up, holding his arm out to you and you looked at him.
“Come on then. Its been years since I last saw you.”
Getting up you went to hug him and Thomas noticed the way you hesitated, seemingly unsure about what to do.
“You know I would never hurt you right? You’re my little sister.”
“I know…”
You walked over and softly hugged him, and he hugged you back, placing a hand on the back of your head as he sighed.
“I should have brought you with me, but you were too young to work, and I would never be able to afford a place for us.”
“It’s not your fault Thomas…”
“It is. I should never have left you in that house with him. I promise everything will be okay now.”
You nodded and hugged him a little tightly and Thomas smiled a little.
“God I missed you…” he whispered.
The door opened, and Thomas looked up but he didn’t move from the hug, and neither did you.
“I will set this right here, and Thomas?”
“Mrs Hughes?”
“There’s an opening for a new housemaid.” She smiled.
Thomas nodded his head and she left.
Thomas sat you down, and he made sure you ate all of the food that was brought through for you, and drank the tea that was made for you.
You told him everything that had happened since he had left, and he carefully listened.
“I see, so you’ve been travelling since?” He asked.
You nodded your head.
“I actually joined a travelling circus for a few months, that was rather interesting.”
“A travelling circus?”
“They needed a new seamstress and I needed money.” You said.
Thomas nodded and gestured for you to follow him, so you did.
He carried the trays back through and you carefully watched him curious, and he led you back to the door you came through and he pulled out a cigarette.
“Thomas!” You scolded.
“What? It’s not like it’s going to killer me any faster than slaving away will.” He said.
You shook your head at him and he looked down at you, blowing some smoke out the door.
“Do you need a job now?”
“I suppose so, I was going to go back to the circus.”
“Absolutely not. You will be a housemaid here. You’ll have a room, steady pay, and I can keep an eye on you. It is long hours but at least you’ll have a roof over your head and food.”
“I won’t be a bother?”
“You are never a bother you silly girl. Come here.”
You walked over and he hugged you again, placing his hand atop of your head, and you smiled, remembering that’s how he hugged you when you were children.
Thanks to your brother, you were able to get the job as a housemaid, and they all knew he was your brother, and they had questions.
A few weeks later as you were sat in the servants dining hall, you were confronted by William.
“So, what’s it like to have Thomas as a brother? Is he rude? Cruel?”
“William.” Mr Bates warned.
You looked at the older man before turning to William and you shook your head.
“No. Thomas is a good brother, he takes care of me, he protects me.”
“I find that rather hard to believe.” Mr Carson said.
You quickly stood up and when he sat down the rest of you sat down again.
“Thomas Barrow is a cruel and bitter man. No offence.” He said.
“But he’s not Mr Carson. My brother may come across as that sometimes but he always looked after me. He taught me to read and to write, we played game as children.”
You smiled a little as you remembered the memories.
“Thomas is a good brother. I love my brother.”
“And that is all that matters, as long as he cares for you and he looks out for you.” Mr Bates smiled.
“Stop harassing her with your invasive questions.”
You looked up and Thomas walked past, placing his hand on your head as he stood behind you, picking up the book you were reading he nodded his head for you to follow him.
“Excuse me.”
You stood up and trialed after him outside and you both sat on the steps.
Thomas lit his cigarette and set the book on the step next to your feet.
“Ignore them, they’re simply just trying to get to you.” He said.
“I couldn’t care what they think about you Thomas.”
“Oh really?”
You smiled softly up at him.
“You’re my brother, I love you regardless because you are my light in the dark, you are my safe place. I do not care what others think, as long as I have my brother it’s okay.”
Thomas smiled softly at you.
“No one will ever hurt you again while I’m around, okay?”
“I know.”
He nodded his head and pulled something out of his pocket and you looked at it.
“A biscuit!”
“Shush! Don’t tell anyone, pinched it from the kitchen for you. They won’t know.”
“Thank you Thomas.”
Splitting it in half, you gave him one half and you ate the other half.
“Thomas?” You asked.
“Hm?”
“Are you busy?”
“No, not for at least another hour, why?”
You smiled at him.
“Will you dance with me again? Like we did when we were children?”
Thomas laughed, shaking his head as he dotted out his cigarette and he stood up, pulling you up with him.
“Just this one time, I have a reputation to keep up you know.”
“Ah yes, the cruel footman I know.”
He smirked a little and he held his hands out and you took them so you could both dance at the bottom of the steps.
Thomas had always wondered about you, there wasn’t a day that went past that he didn’t think about his younger sister and what had happened to her.
And now, seeing you here smiling, nearly all grown up he couldn’t be more proud of you.
You had come a long way, and you were still improving as the days went on, building your confidence back up, growing your smile and laughing more.
And that’s all he could ever hope for, his litter sister to be happy, healthy and more importantly safe

Thomas Barrow x sister!reader - the game plan
I was thinking it would involve a teen reader who works at Downton as a house maid (maybe also Thomas’s younger sister) and is very close with the majority of the staff. I thought it would be funny if teen reader discovers a litter of kittens (or just the one) and snuck them into her room. She had been looking after them and one days returns to her room to discover that they have escaped from the little house she had fashioned from old boxes and cloth, and had climbed the curtains, others where hanging off of the duvet and perhaps another worked its way into a draw or on top of the wardrobe. I thought it would be funny if teen reader enlists the help of Thomas and maybe Anna to restore her room to its proper state before mrs Hughes notices. Maybe they get caught and Thomas, Anna and reader try to act as if nothing was happening though had the kittens hiding behind their backs. It end with them wondering what they are going to do to with them but reader doesn’t want to just let them go, however knows that Mr Carson certainly won’t let reader keep the Kittens - Anon💜
You could bare to seen any living creature in pain, wherever there is help to be needed that’s where you were.
You were incredibly smart and knew all there was to know about medicine and helping people get better, it’s why for the servants you were the go too person before a doctor.
But this need to help everything went beyond people.
You couldn’t stand the thought of animals being in pain either, or plants dying which was why you had flowers hidden around the house, and why there was four kittens hidden in your room.
Every evening you rushed back to your room to make sure they were okay, and you did the same thing this evening.
Except instead of being asleep in their little box, they decided to rifle around and explore, and the room was a mess.
“Oh no darlings!” You whisper yelled.
Rushing in, you began rounding them up, putting them into the basket instead so they couldn’t break free.
But your room was trashed and there was no way you could clean it on your own.
Making sure the kittens were safely hidden, you rushed out of your room and across the hall, knocking on the door a few times.
“Anna!” You whispered.
When there was no response you rushed as fast as you could down the stairs into the servants hall.
“Thomas can you come to my room?”
“What for?”
“Please?”
Thomas looked up from his paper but sighed, setting it down and standing up, gesturing for you to lead the way.
You all but ran into Anna as you did.
“Perfect! Come to my room!”
You took her hand and rushed uk the stairs into your room, ushering them both inside before closing the door.
“Why do you need me if you have her?” Thomas grumbled.
“Because you’re my brother and you’re supposed to help me.”
“Help you with what exactly?” Anna asked.
You gestured to the state of your room.
“It looks like a bull ran through, what on Earth happened?” Anna asked.
“(Y/N) never was the cleanest of people.” Thomas mused.
You glared at him, and gestured to the basket.
“They did it.”
Both Anna and Thomas shared a look before slowly walking closer. Staring into the basket where the small kittens had fallen asleep after their adventure.
“How did you get them in here? Where did you get them?” Thomas hissed.
“I found them outside I was not going to leave them to there Thomas! Just help me!” You hissed back.
You heard knocking on a door down the hall and shot the two a panicked look.
“Quickly now!” Anna rushed.
The three of you worked quickly to get the room back to the tidy state it was before, making sure everything was back into its place.
You covered the basked with a blanket and grabbed Thomas’ hand, moving him in front of it as a knock resounded on your door.
“Come in!” You called.
The door was opened, and Mrs Hughes stood there looking between the three of you.
“Mr Barrow you know you shouldn’t be in this hallway.”
“I am aware Mrs Hughes, however my sister asked for my assistance.”
“And Anna?”
“I heard (Y/N) talking, I was wondering whom she may have been talking with.”
Mrs Hughes hummed, nodding her head as she looked around the room.
“You wouldn’t happen to have a spare change of clothes for Daisy would you? She has ruined her current ones, and her spares are in the wash.”
“Perhaps she shouldn’t be so clumsy then.” Thomas said.
“Thomas!” You snapped.
Walking to your wardrobe you opened it, pulling out some fresh clothes and handed them to Mrs Hughes.
“I do, she can keep this I have no need for them.”
“You are dear, thank you so much.”
You beamed and waited for her to leave before letting out a deep sigh.
“So, what will you do with the kittens?” Anna asked you.
Walking over, you removed the blankets and the three of you stared at them.
“Well, keep them for now, I don’t really know what else to do with them.”
“You know Mrs Hughes and Mr Carson will never approve of that (Y/N), you must let them go now.” Thomas said.
“No, I can keep them for a short while.”
“They are going to get more adventurous, Mr Barrow is right, you must rehome them.”
“Please help me look after them.”
You turned to look at them both.
“We are busy enough.” Thomas said.
You turned to Anna who sighed a little.
“I will admit they are rather adorable, maybe we can keep them for a little while, I’m sure Mr Bates will agree.”
You beamed at her.
“Thomas?”
“No.”
You turned to him, giving him a grin.
“Please.”
“No.”
“Thomas please!”
Anna stood next to you smiling at him.
“Come now Mr Barrow, do you really want to upset your sister?”
“If it means I don’t need to take in my work than necessary than yes.”
“Thomas!” You whined.
He crossed his arms as he looked at you.
You gave him a pleasing look, and finally he sighed.
“Fine.” He snapped.
“Thank you!”
Hugging him, you all quickly jumped into creating a game plan to trying to get away with keeping kittens hidden away from everybody

Thomas Barrow x Sister!reader - fix the damage of the past
Hey, can I request a Thomas Barrow x teen sister reader, set during series 3 episode 9… It’s a bit of a long one, maybe reader has just recently been put under Thomas’s care and they don’t particularly get along, hoping to rebuild some semblance of their past relationship, Thomas proposes the idea of going to the fair and offers to take her with him. They enjoy themselves at the fair and go on rides, win prizes and buy far to many sweets (maybe Mrs Patmore frets over them spoiling their appetite for dinner and Mrs Hughes dismisses the thought happy that they are finally getting along) — just overall wholesome sibling bonding and Thomas making up for lost time (having not been present during the majority of her childhood). - Anon 💜
You didn’t want to be there, and you made it quite obvious to anyone who asked that you were effectively there against your will.
Anytime you ran away, you were always brought back by the police, and after several telling offs from Mr Carson, Mrs Hughes, and Lord and Lady Grantham you finally stopped trying to run off.
But you still weren’t happy to be there.
“On your next birthday you’ll be able to begin working properly right?” Daisy asked you.
You nodded your head and handed her one of the pots she pointed to.
“I will, right now Lord and Lady Grantham just want me to settle in and learn everything before I start properly working.”
“And preferably stop running away from what I’ve heard.”
You turned around and grinned and Jimmy, giving a little shrug.
“If I had my way I’d be a stowaway on a boat to America.”
“Do you really hate it here that much?” Alfred asked.
“It’s not a matter of the young (Y/N) hating it here, it’s who she hates here.” Mr Bates said.
“Who?” Jimmy asked.
“Him.”
You pointed across the kitchen to the man who had just walked in and Alfred and Jimmy both turned to look at him.
Thomas stared at you for a moment before he left without a word.
“Thomas?”
“I despise that man.”
“I think a lot of people do.” Alfred said.
You looked at Mr Bates.
“You said you wanted to go to the village, Lord Grantham and I are heading down and he said you can accompany us.”
“Oh yay! Let me grab my jacket Mr Bates.”
You rushed to grab your jacket and you happily skipped over to Mr Bates, beaming up at him.
Thomas walked past you and he stopped you, and you stepped behind Mr Bates, gripping the back of his jacket lightly.
“Leave her be.”
“She’s my sister, I have a right to talk with her.” Thomas said.
“And something tells me she does not want to talk with you.”
“I can talk to my sister whenever I want Mr Bates, don’t get involved in matter that do not involve you.”
Mr Bates looked down at you and you shook your head.
“You saw her, she wishes nothing to do with you.”
Mr Bates held his arm out to you.
“Come along then (Y/N).”
You followed him and scurried past Thomas.
“Ignore him, and if he makes you uncomfortable again come find me.”
“Thank you Mr Bates you’ve always been so kind to me. I wish you were my brother.”
Mr Bates laughed softly.
“I’m sure I’m much to old to be your brother.”
“Well, you would still make a better brother than Thomas.”
You enjoyed your walk around the village, and you were looking at something in a shop window.
“My lord?” You asked.
“Yes?”
“What’s that?”
You pointed to the object.
“It’s a type writer, it means you don’t have to write letters by hand.”
“Wow.. it looks very strange.”
Mr Bates and Lord Grantham laughed softly.
“You do like to call things strange don’t you?” Lord Grantham asked.
“I suppose a lot of things are strange to me my lord, I have not seen much past clocks and my fathers house.”
He nodded his head.
“How is it going with your brother?”
“I’m afraid Mr Barrow still makes (Y/N) uncomfortable, they do not get along at all.”
“I see, why is that?”
You looked at Lord Grantham.
“On the night he left we had an argument, and Thomas said… some cruel things to me…” you mumbled.
“Yes, he can be cruel at times.” Lord Grantham agreed.
You nodded your head.
“It’s okay, because aside from him I like everybody else my Lord, they’re all so very nice to me.”
“Well I’m glad.”
You carried on following them, intrigued by everything you saw.
You went back and excitedly told anyone who would listen about everything you had seen.
And the following day the family aside from Mr Branson went away to Scotland so you, with permission from Mrs Hughes and Mr Carson we’re allowed to follow one of the housemaids around to see how things were done.
And it was all very interesting to you, and you eve attempted to help them with a few things.
Making your way down the stairs you heard something about a fair.
“What’s the fair about?” You asked.
“It’s just got things like games and food and stalls for everybody to enjoy.” Jimmy said.
You nodded your head.
“Mr Carson and Mrs Hughes won’t allow me to go to that…” you mumbled.
“Why not?” Alfred asked.
“Because she has a reputation for running away and if she’s allowed such freedom she may run away again.” Mr Carson said.
“What if she’s accompanied by someone?” Jimmy asked.
“Not the likes of you.”
You sat down at the table pouting a little bit.
Thomas got up from his chair and walked over to you, sitting next to you and you glared at him turning your back to him.
“Will you stop being so stubborn and listen to what I have to say?” He snapped.
“No.”
Thomas sighed.
“Look, just come to the fair with me? So we can talk?”
“Why do you care? You made it very clear that you don’t care about me at all Thomas.”
He stood up, walking around he sat on the chair in front of you and he glanced around before turning back to you.
“Of course I care about you. I just simply want things to go back to how they were, surely you remember?” He whispered.
You said nothing and he looked at you.
“Just come, I know either way you want to go to the fair, if I can talk Mr Carson and Mrs Hughes into letting you go will you come with me?” He asked.
You looked at him, weighing up your options.
You didn’t want to go anywhere with Thomas, but you knew that if anyone could somehow talk them into letting you go it would be Thomas.
And you really wanted to go to this fair.
“Fine.”
“Wait here, give me ten minutes.”
Thomas rushed away and you sat there and waited, not long later he came back and you looked up at him.
“I am to keep you under close watch, but you can do.”
“Okay. I will meet you down here with the others.”
Before your brother could say anything else you were gone.
The next day you were practically overjoyed with the idea of going to the fair, and you rushed down to meet Daisy.
“Will you show me the fair?!”
“I thought you were going with Mr Barrow?” She asked.
“I don’t want to.”
“And if you want to stay at the fair you are to stay by his side. Everybody has already assured they’ll keep you by his side.” Mr Carson said.
“Fine, but I refuse to sit next to him.”
“Why must you be so stubborn?” Thomas asked.
“Because I don’t like you.”
You walked over to Mrs Hughes and stood behind her, glaring at her.
Thankfully she let you stay with her until you arrived at the fair, and you were forced to stick with Thomas as much as you didn’t want to.
“Can we talk now?” He asked.
“About what?”
“About what I said that night.”
You looked up at him and he gestured to a tent with some chairs and tables and followed him to sit down.
“I’m only here because Mr Branson and Mrs Hughes are watching me like hawks.”
“Mr Branson has no business looking at you.”
“He was told to keep an eye on me by his lordship, since I am a runaway risk as you know.”
Thomas looked at you and he glanced away.
“Why do you want to talk about that night?” You asked.
“Because you deserve an apology. What I said tore us apart (Y/N), and you know it did. We used to be as close as anything, us against the world, do you remember?”
“Of course I remember.” You snapped.
Thomas turned back to you.
“Then let me apologise. Please? I don’t want to lose my only sister because I said some foolish things because I was angry.”
“You took your anger out on my Thomas! You took my deepest secrets and worst fears and used them against me when I left!” You hissed.
“And I’m sorry, I never meant it. And it’s been haunting me ever since. I’ve been trying to apologise since you came to Downton, but you never give me the time of day to talk, always running off with someone else.”
“Because they don’t treat me like they’re stuck with me.”
Thomas sighed, holding his hands out to you and you looked at them.
“There was a time when you and I trusted each other with our lives. Now we’re nothing more than two strangers. I don’t want to do that…”
You looked up at him.
“Let me make it up to you?”
“How?”
“I will buy you all the sweets, food, drinks and let you go on all the rides and play all the games you want.”
Your eyes lit up a little bit.
“Really?!”
Thomas reached down to the ground and lifted his hand to show you a small fabric bag and he handed it over.
You took it confused and looked into and gasped.
“My favourite?!”
You set it on the table.
“You remembered?” You asked softly.
“Of course I did you foolish girl, you used to beg me to run to the shop and buy them all the time.”
You smiled and quickly took one of the sweets out and you ate it, and you took another holding it out to him.
Thomas smiled and took it, eating it and you sealed the bag, handing it out to him and he put it in his jacket.
“Does this make us friends?” He asked.
“Not quite, but maybe depending on how nice you are to me throughout today.”
“You do drive a hard bargain.”
He stood up and held out his arm and you took it, and Thomas let you drag him around the fair, and first you played some games with him, then you got him to join you on rides.
You favourite was the carousel, and you kept going back to it despite your brothers protests.
“They want me on the tug of war, care to hold my jacket?” Thomas asked.
You nodded and took it, and you grabbed his arm before he walked away.
He turned around and looked at you, and you smiled softly at him.
“Give it your best.”
“I will.” He smiled.
He walked away and you cheered him and everyone else on as they held a close game, and eventually the Downton team won.
You rushed over to your brother and held his jacket out to him as he stood up.
“You did it!”
“I’m hurt by your doubt of me.”
You rolled your eyes at him and Thomas glanced around before turning back to you.
“Promise me you won’t runaway.”
“Thomas?”
“Promise me.” He said sternly.
“I.. I promise…”
“Go over to Mrs Hughes, tell her I had to excuse myself for a moment…” he whispered.
“Thomas?”
“Just go, I promise I’ll come back soon.”
You nodded and walked over to Mrs Hughes, sitting down with her.
“What’s wrong?” She asked quietly.
“Thomas asked me to come sit with you, he had to excuse himself.”
She nodded her head, and you looked around, and you looked over at Mrs Hughes again.
“Are you and Thomas friends again?” She asked.
“We’re getting there.” You smiled

Hey, was wondering if you’d be able to write a flashback of sorts to Thomas Barrow x sister readers childhood. Maybe just a couple of wholesome memories from before Thomas’s life at Downton and his relationship with younger sister reader. Would be nice to see a different side to Thomas from the persona we see in Downton, though giving what he mentioned about his childhood (regarding his father and such) I’m unsure what he would have been like as a kid and young teen.
Don’t worry if not — just thought it’d be a different take form other requests I’ve sent! Thank you! Xx
Sure!

Hey, I have a request idea a fic though I’m not sure whether you’ll feel comfortable doing it.
For context:
Thomas Barrow x teen sister reader who struggles with breathing problems (shortness of breath), occasionally resorting in fainting though is otherwise harmless. Contributing factors being sudden/dramatic changes in temperature, illness, stress, excessive movement.
I would like to send the full request, though wanted to make sure it would be alright with you first of all! If not, no worries! Thank you! Xx
Hiya unfortunately I wouldn’t be able to write berating troubles, I don’t know much about them or have any experience with them so I’m not sure I’d do it right

Hey, do you write for Harrison Wells, Harry Wells or HR? I’ve been trying to find blogs who write platonic fics for them and team flash but it is so difficult 😭
Also, do you write for Thomas Barrow, like a platonic teen or sister reader?
Thanks! Xx
Hi!
I do write for team flash preferably platonic but I haven’t ever written anything for Harrison Wells, Harry Wells or HR but I would definitely be up to trying to write a fic with him (bc he’s one of my fave characters)
Second I do write for Thomas Barrow, platonic teen, sister reader or whatever you might like (except Thomas x fem!reader romantic)
So just send me your request and I’ll do my best <3

Hey, could I request a Thomas Barrow x teen sister reader (I think I have a bit of a obsession, I just love Thomas 😅) set during the last episode of series 4 when the servants all go to the beach.
Just wholesome brother sister time, maybe with a dash of Miss Baxter and Jimmy! Maybe Thomas watches as Jimmy and Miss Baxter play with sister reader and Thomas gets a bit jealous, either miss Baxter or mrs Hughes encourage him to relax and spent time with her. the Barrow siblings banter and he ends up chasing sister reader around the beach (I don’t know if it is within character for Thomas but seeing how he interacts with the children a Downton later in the the series I think it can be within reason 😂)
Don’t worry if not! Thank you Xx
Absolutely!
I don’t remember much but I’ll see what I can do (I may have to change Thomas’ reaction to fit his character)

Hey, dont worry about the other Thomas Barrow request — I wasn’t sure whether it would be possible, but I thought I’d still ask 😊 I was wondering if you’d be able to write a Thomas Barrow x teen sister reader, set during series 5 when Thomas seeks out treatments to try and ‘correct’ his sexuality.
Maybe reader notices his odd behaviour over the span of a couple of days (he stops talking to her and disappears for days at a time with no explanation — even when he claims to be visiting their dad) and knows that something is wrong though is unsure of how to help him because he won’t let her.
Maybe she confides in Baxter (maybe she babysat reader as an infant and looks up to her) who agrees to help get to the bottom of it.
Maybe Thomas and reader get into a heated argument (Maybe reader is quiet and hates confrontation, but is willing to put that aside in order to help her brother — even if he can’t accept that her intentions are pure and genuine.) and Thomas says some hurtful things to try and get her off his case.
This on-going feud between the siblings carries on until Thomas’ attempt on his life (I can’t remember what happens in the time between Thomas getting his first treatment and his attempt), where he is forced to let people help him.
I’m not sure if you’ve done something similar to this already! Again, don’t worry if you can’t do this Xx
Oh I actually have!! It’s kinda similar to this if you wanna check it out :)
