"The eyes of a psychopath will take away an innocent soul". As a kid, Brielle heard those words from her father almost daily. When she thought about it as an adult, it was odd because her father /was/ a psychopath, but then there was a lot of truth in that statement because the eyes of a psychopath /had/ taken away an innocent soul; they had taken away her innocent soul when she was just a child. The middle child in her family, which was her, had turned out to be what other kids called "crazy, psycho, messed up, 'insane in the membrane', morbid, mean", and so many other terms that she honestly didn't care about by that point in her life. Being a CIA Director meant that she had to keep things in order, she had to keep the agents in their place, and she had to carry on the wishes of the late Ward Abbott. He had wanted more agents like Bourne, "super agents" that had almost super human strength and could bulldoze through literally anything without feeling a thing. She had been working with techs in the Langley base to perfect an operation that had previously left Abbott and the CIA chasing after Bourne; Operation Treadstone. The same expectation had been made for the New York base, but the Director there didn't have the gumption to rise up to that challenge the way Brielle did, and she rolled her eyes and scoffed as she thought about New York. Director Conner McAlister had lost agents, some of which ended up in Virginia, while also having failed to get his hands dirty in order to do what was expected, what needed to be done. Instead, he'd ran off like a scared little boy and left New York abandoned after getting attacked by three rogue agents.

"He's spineless. The man doesn't have a fuckin' backbone, let alone any leadership skills. Jesus fuckin' Christ."

She shook her head in disgust as she stopped and looked over the information being shown on the big screen in the conference room. Rolling her eyes again, Brielle stood up out of the chair she was sitting in and walked over to stand in front of the screen, looking over numbers and information from the other base.

"There's /one/ agent in each of the two groups that really stood out, and he's here now. Director McAlister doesn't have jack shit on us."

A malicious laugh slid past slightly pursed lips, and another disgusted head shake followed as the Langley Director continued to take in the information being presented to her. There was an agent in the younger group who was gradually, but also at a fairly impressive rate, working his way up the score charts and Director Hadley couldn't help but notice. A long, skinny finger with bright red polish on the tip pointed up at the screen as she spoke again.

"This one, though. He seems to be improving...which, I guess, says that McAlister isn't a /complete/ loser. But I still meant what I said. The man has no fuckin' gumption, and look at where his agents go when they leave him."

Putting her hand down at her side, and with a swish of long, dark tresses, Brielle turned to address the others in the room with a sarcastic sneer etched on her face as she spoke again.

"And they were weak when they got here. Clearly, the people in New York don't know what the hell they're doing. He loses agents better than he trains them, and they end up here...or trying to kill him."

The last part made a dark laugh slip past blood red lips, and her eyes cast a sinister glint as she thought about that last statement. Director McAlister couldn't even handle his own agents and got the hell kicked out of him by a few of them, which made him seem even weaker in her eyes, and she hadn't thought that was possible until right then. As far as Brielle was concerned, a Director needed to be able to keep their agents in line and show them where they fell on the chain of command, and if they couldn't handle that then they were a weak Director. From what she had seen from Director McAlister, she wasn't at all impressed and thought he was too soft, which in turn told her that he was weak and couldn't handle his agents. He was a pathetic excuse for a Director in Hadley's eyes, and even just calling him a Director was a joke to her. He wasn't a Director, he didn't know what the hell he was doing, and Brielle could tell that he didn't.

"The only thing he's got going for him is that he's easy on the eyes. Nothing else, though, which is a damn shame but is also hilarious. I'll bet he cracks, if he isn't already dead. Either that or he's got one of his weak agents doing his dirty work for him like the spineless asshole he is."

Brielle guffawed and rolled her eyes again before walking out of the conference room, the only sound that could be heard in the halls, besides the sound of agents in the training room working on their skills and training, being Louis Vuitton heels clicking against the floor as she made her way toward the IT office. One of the newer interns, Logan Barker, was gathering intel and finding escape routes for the older agents that Hadley had out in the field completing a mission, and glanced back at her when he heard her come in. He went slightly wide eyed and flinched a bit before turning back around and getting back to work. He was scared of Brielle, it was plain as day that he had been since the beginning, but she just snorted in amusement and shook her head, focusing on the records that she had gone in there to find. Digging through, she eventually found the record she had been looking for and pulled it out of the filing cabinet she'd been rifling through, then smirked as she read the name on the file.

"Madigan, Leander Blaine."

Love Is You - chapter 7

Scarlett woke up quite early this morning. She was feeling pretty good, apparently talking with someone and going out were pretty much what she has needed. She wanted to return the favour by preparing Severus's breakfast this morning. She dressed up and headed to the kitchens. She wasn't the brightest chef so just made cheese toast, scrambled eggs, cherry tomatoes to the side and fresh orange juice. She took the tray and headed to Severus's room happily. It was hard to hold the tray and knock on the door at the same time but she managed to do it without causing a mess. Severus opened the door couple of minutes later with a sleepy look on his face and a messy hair.

"Oh, i guess i woke you up this time..."

"We are even now. Come in." Severus showed her the table and she put the tray on.

"Today's breakfast is from me, hope you like it."

"It looks delicious, thank you." He sat down after her and took a bite of his toast.

"I did improve my kitchen skills tiny bit, i can show you sometime." Scarlett grinned proudly. She was not the best in the kitchen since her family always had house elves for the cooking. And when she was together with Severus, he was doing most of the cooking and he had a talent for it. His caramel brownies were Scarlett’s favourite.

"If you say so, i am excited to see then."

"Don't get your hopes too high tho."

"Ah i already did, they changed from 1 to 1,5." Severus smirked at her.

"You are a jerk Severus!" Scarlett chuckled and slapped his leg lightly.

He laughed, he loved to annoy Scarlett like that. "Jokes aside thanks for the breakfast Scarlett."

"My pleasure." She smiled softly. "I better leave so you can do whatever you want, i already woke you up early on a Sunday morning." She stood up to leave. Her mood has started to change, she felt like she’s being a burden for him.

"It is totally fine, i normally wake up early anyways. Last night i marked some papers so i went to bed quite late."

"Rest then. You already spent the last two days with me and i was pretty tiring with my nonsense."

Severus shook his head in disapproval. "I like spending my time with you Scarlett. We can all have problems time to time, life is not always easy and fun so don't feel guilty or anything."

"You do me good Severus, i feel better when i am with you..."

Hearing those words made his heart melt. He was very happy that he was actually being helpful to her.

"I will take the dishes and come back then. And meanwhile you can get dressed." She smiled and fixed his messy black hair slightly.

"Thanks..." Severus smiled shyly while she was leaving.

    Scarlett was walking back to Severus's chamber when she came across with Professor McGonagall.

"Ah Scarlett i was looking for you! You need to go to Albus's room; you have a guest."

"Guest? Who is it?" Not many people knew she was staying at Hogwarts so she wasn’t expecting any guests.

"The new deputy minister."

Now Scarlett had a even more confused look on her face so McGonagall continued. "I know you are not in the mood for such meeting, so i tried to send him back but he was pretty persistent."

"That's weird but i guess i have to meet him... Thank you Minerva." She smiled and headed to Dumbledore's room. She knocked and walked in after hearing the headmaster’s invitation.

"Oh hello Scarlett! Someone wants to meet you, i will leave you alone." Dumbledore greeted her and then left, leaving her alone with the new deputy minister. The tall man has stood up, Scarlett took a look at him and first thing came to her mind was he was looking like a human version of a husky dog with blond hair. His light blue eyes were so piercing and made her feel uncomfortable in a way.

"Hello Miss Rose. I am Amos Langley, the new deputy minister." He held his hand out for her to shake.

"Nice to meet you Mr. Langley." She shook his hand but his grip was strong enough to hurt her hand.

He looked at her head to toe attentively. He has seen her before but mostly on newspapers and magazines. She was the type of woman who so many men would dream of to be with. Even though she wasn’t looking her best right now, she still had the captivating aura. "I heard the news. It's such a shame you've been cheated on, you are such a beautiful and intelligent woman Miss Rose." Amos sent a tiny smirk to her way while sitting down. She was feeling extremely uncomfortable with him and just wanted this meeting to end as quickly as possible.

"My personal life is none of your business and I am asking you to be respectful. Beside that I am guessing you didn't come here just to meet me Mr. Langley, may i ask what's the real reason? Because i don't have much time." Scarlett replied firmly.

"I thought you have plenty of time Miss Rose since you are unemployed now. Anyways, the real reason is that i want to abolish a law which you legislated."

"You know you can do it without asking me, right?"

"I know but the minister wanted me to consult you first, he is still very fond of you Miss Rose." He made an unamused expression.

"Which law is that?"

"The one that causing death eaters to serve in Azkaban for rest of their lives."

"Why would you want to change that one?" Scarlett raised her eyebrow questioningly.

"I think it is very cruel to put someone in jail because they chose a different side than the majority."

"It is not about choosing a different side but the side they chose murdered innocent people and caused a war."

"Everybody deserves a second chance Miss Rose, even the "bad" ones."

"I am not the decision maker anymore; you can do whatever you want since you are the new deputy minister but if you ask me i don't think this law should be abolished." Scarlett stood up, she had enough of this man.

"Thank you for sharing your opinion Miss Rose but like you said, you are not the decision maker anymore. I just come here because the minister wanted it."

"Well okay then. Have a good day."

"You too Miss Rose, you too." Amos Langley watched her go with a challenging look on his face.

Scarlett was so confused and annoyed, it was such a weird conversation and made her extremely uncomfortable. She went to Severus's room directly after it ended.

"I thought you got lost on the way." Severus said while letting her in.

"New deputy minister came here to "meet" me. But it was actually a showdown." She sat on a chair while murmuring angrily.

"By looking at your face, i am guessing you didn't like him?" Severus sat in front of her.

"I hated him. Severus he was just... so weird."

"What do you mean?"

"He kept calling me "Miss Rose" in an annoying tone, literally crushed my hand while shaking it, mentioned the cheating situation and he wants to abolish the law that i made about death eaters."

"I wasn't expecting that much fuckery to be honest. What is his problem?"

"I don't know but i got such a bad vibe from him, something is off with him but i can't put my finger on. I will write a letter to the minister later."

"That's a good idea. Don’t think much about him, probably he was just trying to annoy you."

"He was so weird..." she mumbled to herself once again.

    Around 8 pm Carina and Remus turned back to Hogwarts after spending their weekend with Sirius.

"I will come with you, i want to see Scarlett as well." Remus followed Carina to her chamber.

"Sure, uncle Rem, hopefully she is doing better. I couldn't stop thinking about her."

"Her letters sounded good though. I think she is doing okay."

Carina nodded and walked in her chamber but it was dark and Scarlett was not here. She immediately started to worry, thought the worst and run to the Professor Snape's room, knocking it in hope to find her there. Nobody answered the door, now that made her even more worried if it’s possible.

"Where are they!? Did something happen to mum and he had to take her to the hospital...?" Carina was panicking and pacing around. Remus held her softly to stop.

"Don't worry if something has happened Severus would let you know for sure. Maybe he is in his class, marking papers? Let’s check there."

He walked her to the potions class and Carina rushed in with worried eyes. Severus and Scarlett turned to see the person who interrupted them.

"Mum!" Carina run to her. "I couldn't find you in the room, i was scared!"

Scarlett hugged her daughter and caressed her hair to calm her down. "I am fine, we are playing chess here."

"Oh... i am sorry that i rushed in Professor..."

"It is okay." He smiled slightly.

"How are you doing Scarlett?" Remus asked her while kissing her cheek. That caused him getting a deadly glance from Severus.

"I am good, pretty good actually. Thanks to Severus, he took care of me really well." She smiled softly at him.

"No doubt he did... Anyways, you are having the dinner with me tomorrow, okay?"

"Okay, i would like that."

"Okay then, good night everybody." Remus waved at them before he left the classroom.

They wished him good night except Severus.

"Mum i will be in the room, okay? You can continue your game. Good night professor and thanks again."

"Good night Carina." Severus smiled at her and turned his attention back to Scarlett.

"I was taking your queen." Scarlett grinned and knocked his queen down. "Aaaand checkmate!"

Love Is You - chapter 12

    A week has passed since the Christmas and Scarlett hasn't seen or talk to Severus again. The things Severus said about their breakup still didn't settle with Scarlett. She couldn't help herself but thought if they haven't broken up, perhaps things would be way different in her life right now. Scarlett was so sure that Severus would marry her and they would have their own little family with their cats but everything has gone downhill all of a sudden. The next 2 years after the breakup were the time when Sirius came back to Scarlett’s life once again. They recovered their friendship from the very start and after those 2 years their relationship turned into a romantic one. She didn't have any regrets about her relationship and later about her marriage with Sirius though actually they were pretty wonderful, but Severus always had a special place in her heart that she could not replace it with anyone.

    Scarlett and the twins were having breakfast when a Jack Russel terrier patronus rushed in. Before they could react to it, the patronus delivered a message to Scarlett.

"At 11 o'clock, in our cabin. Be there, important."

Scarlett checked the wall clock immediately, it was 10:30. That message made her nervous because whenever they had to talk in the cabin, it was never a good sign. And also the patronus message added more stress to the situation, it meant there is a critic situation.

"Mum what was that? Whose patronus was it?"

"The minister's. But i don't know what's going on Leo."

"Why do you have a cabin together?"

"It is for the important stuff that we can't talk anywhere because unwanted people can hear."

"But you resigned, why do you still have to deal with ministry stuff?"

"Leo i know as much as you know right now. T last time i saw Dorian was weeks ago."

The twins didn't question her any further because she was visibly nervous about the situation. They continued to eat their breakfast in silence but Scarlett went upstairs to get dressed for the meeting since she didn’t have much time left. She wore a black dress and a black cloak to hide herself from possible stalkers. The minister's message made her thought that maybe he has been stalked since he didn't send a normal letter. She went downstairs to let her kids know that she was leaving. "I gotta go now. I don't know when i will be back, don't worry okay?"

"I can come with you to protect you?"

"No Leo, it is just a meeting. I will be fine. Bye!"

Then she apparated to a hidden spot of the Clemont Forest; Scarlett looked around and made sure there was no one here. Later she faced to west and took 300 steps then 86 steps to the north and now she was standing in front of the grand oak tree. She whispered "revelio" and the small cabin appeared next to the tree. She looked around one more time before casting complex unlocking charms on the door. When Scarlett walked in the cabin, the minister was already waiting for her.

"Hello Scarlett, thank you for coming." Dorian said with a forced smile, under of his eyes were dark and he was looking paler than ever.

"Hi Dorian. Is everything okay?"

He shook his head madly. "No, no Scarlett. I made a mistake and now everything will go downhill..." he started to pace around the small room. "He is dangerous, he should be stopped!" The minister was acting like crazy and that worried Scarlett even more.

"Please sit down and relax then tell me what's going on. I can't help you if i don't understand."

He sighed and sat on the closest chair while Scarlett was sitting in front of him. "Amos, Amos Langley. He is bad, Scarlett. First he wanted to abolish your law about the death eaters, i sent him to you in hope that maybe you could change his mind but apparently you couldn't. Many former death eaters were released now, even he hired 2 of them as his assistants. And i guess he is reading my letters and following me."

Scarlett wasn't so surprised about Amos Langley but she wasn't expecting that much. "I didn't like him from the very start to be honest, when he came to meet me he acted very off and made me uncomfortable. But that's just too much. Why didn't you stop him about the law? You could gather a meeting with the councilmen, i don't think they would accept it so he wouldn’t be able to abolish it."

"I did Scarlett and they accepted it. Amos took everyone under his control, he is like using imperio on them. Maybe he really does..."

"I understand... I don't want to sound rude but where did you find him?”

"A friend of mine from French Ministry of Magic told me about him. He was from there but wanted to come to London and my friend said he is really good and i will enjoy working with him. Since you resigned so suddenly, i hired him as the deputy minister. I didn't have any other options..."

Scarlett raised her eyebrow. "Ah... Now i found why he looked familiar to me. The last time i was in Paris, he talked to me after the seminar. I was quite annoyed by him since he didn’t stop talking for some time."

Dorian’s eyes got wider with fear. "Are you saying he targeted us way before he came here?"

“Why would he do that tho?"

"A new death eater campaign?" The minister suggested.

"Hopefully not but the things you said doesn't sound good at all. What do you want me to do?"

"If you can talk to Dumbledore, it will be great. I don't want to do it myself because i think someone follows me like i said before. I don't feel safe even in my home Scarlett, i don't trust anyone but you."

    Scarlett visited Dumbledore immediately after the meeting and told Dumbledore about the minister's worries and the situations in the ministry. Dumbledore was concerned but yet he wasn't sure if he should do something without having a certain evidence. But Scarlett was persistent about it so he decided to gather a meeting with the Order of the Phoenix members at Grimmauld place the very next evening since it's Sunday and everyone would be free.

    It was 9:30 o'clock and finally everyone has arrived at Grimmauld place. Nobody knew what's going on and they were all worried about the meeting which they've been called so suddenly without any information. Dumbledore clapped his hands to stop chattering then he cleared his throat before started to talk. "Welcome my friends. I know every one of you are wondering why we are here tonight. I will let Scarlett to explain it to you because she knows about it better than me."

The heads turned to Scarlett questioningly. She licked her lips to wet them before starting to speak. "First of all thank you for coming here tonight. I will directly dive into the topic, i don't wanna keep you waiting anymore. I had a secret meeting with the Minister yesterday because he has some concerns. He doesn't trust the new deputy minister even he suspects that the deputy has some kind of connections with Death Eaters. He abolished the law i have made about imprisoning the Death Eaters rest of their lives. And he didn't stop with that even he has hired some of them in the ministry. Also Dorian believes that Amos, the deputy minister, is stalking him or hired someone to do it for him. And i met Amos, he visited me couple of weeks ago, i don't trust him as well. Something is off with him. So briefly the Minister wants help before it is too late." Scarlett took a look at everyone’s faces, most of them had a shocked expression.

"So if i understood right, you gathered us here just because you and the Minister have bad feelings about the Amos guy." James Potter stated in an annoying tone.

Scarlett sighed, James and her were never in good terms and he would constantly start an argument with her. "I want to do something before Dorian gets hurt. Does it sound good to you that Amos abolished the law about Death Eaters and hired them as assistants?"

"You are just annoyed because he took your place and abolished the law you made."

"He is in my place because i did quit. I don't work for the ministry anymore so i have literally zero gain from this, James."

James rolled his eyes at her. "I think this is nonsense, there is no evidence that he is up to something."

"I saw the new deputy too and i must agree with Scarlett, he is weird. I think we can do some research about him at least." Said Minerva McGonagall and Dumbledore agreed with her.

"He took control over the Auror Department a week ago. I am the head of the department but i must tell him about the situation beforehand and he decides if we take an action or not. He stopped us about two attacks on muggleborns this week, saying they are not as important." Sirius looked at Scarlett.  "So i am in whatever you want to do about him."

They all discussed about it for a while. Some of them were agreeing with Scarlett but some wasn't sure like James because there were no real actions yet, beside abolishing the law. In the end they decided on getting some more information about Amos Langley.

"I will visit him tomorrow in his office and see how he is acting." Scarlett announced end of the discussion.

"You will draw his attention on yourself Scar, it is not necessary. We can do it secretly."

"You don't need to worry about me, Sirius. He visited me so i will pay him a visit back, it is not suspicious at all."

"Okay then you do that Scarlett and let us know in our next meeting which will be on next Sunday at the same hour. And the others if you can get some information, it will be appreciated. The meeting ends here tonight, thanks to everyone." Said Dumbledore smiling.

Everybody started to get up to leave as soon as possible the meeting ended, there was nothing certain about the situation, but it made them all nervous. They were hoping to have peaceful years in their 50s but apparently it wasn’t happening. Scarlett said goodnight to everybody avoiding both Sirius and Severus, then put her coat and hat on before heading towards the front door. Sirius was watching her and went after her when she was about to leave. They haven’t seen each other since the night Arabelle came and it was clear Scarlett was still upset with him.

"Won't you apparate? It is very cold."

"No. I will walk, my house is not far from here." She answered without looking at him.

"I will be your company then." Sirius reached out for his coat.

"I don't want you to be my company Sirius and don't make me say it twice. I cannot deal with you tonight." Scarlett talked coldly and shut the door on his face before he could do anything.

Sirius sighed and looked at the crowd in hope nobody saw what just happened but then he noticed that Severus was watching him from afar. He frowned at Severus and walked over him rather furiously. "If you do the thing on your mind, i will kill you and won't regret. Do not go after her, don’t even get close to her!"

Severus smirked at his over-angry statement and replied calmly. "The thing that is on my mind was killing you actually, i wonder how you will kill me when you are already dead."

Sirius gritted his teeth in annoyance. "Stay away from Scar, i will say that only once. I don’t mind hurting you, if you don’t comply. You know that very well, don’t you Snivellus?"

"Once is enough for me to understand things since i am not a dunderhead like you, Black. But I don’t take commends from you, you are nothing without your gang. Pathetic…" Then he apparated which caused Sirius to draw his wand into the now empty space.
