“It’s bleeding quite badly. Press that against the wound, I’m going to get the med kit.”
(From Ariel)
If he weren’t so surprised Eliasz wouldn’t completely ignored her instructions. Bleeding was rare especially for someone with his ‘abilities’ but he wasn’t completely invincible. Regardless it was strange to see the sight of his own blood again. The last time he’d bled like this was when he’d fought the alien warlord Karza.
“Yeah..of course..” he nodded quickly not wanting to get too lost in his own head again.

Getting home was undoubtedly the best news Luca had heard in weeks since he had been stuck in the hospital and the adult social services had supplied him with aids around the house to help him while he recovered, like a raised toilet seat, bars to hold onto to get up and down, a trolley on wheels so he could bring food and drinks from the kitchen into the living room and other gadgets that would help. He knew most of the aids were often used in the elderly care facilities when patients struggled physically or were recovering from falls and broken hips, which technically he had done along with his leg. As Blair promised, she arrived to take him home and he was more than ready to get out of there, unshaven but washed and dressed in shorts and a tshirt on the edge of the bed so he could literally hop out the door in case they decided to keep him for something else. One thing that was driving him crazy with embarrassment was the fact that a medication they had given him had a horrible side effect or a blessed side effect for some spontaneous erections and they were painful. He had often had to cover himself or hide himself from the nurses and doctors who knew but acted oblivious. But he was ready to go home. He was more than ready to go home.

More Paprikahendl (a bit, anyway)...
@blyddyn asked this:
@petermorwood , a question for you. About a fortnight ago, I made a Gulyas and with it I served Huskovy Knedlik, thinking about it the Huskovy would go well with Paprikahendl. What are your thoughts on this?
Since that accompanied the reblog of a long-ish post, any reply other than something terse like "Sounds fine to me!" would have made it even longer.
Terse would of course answer the question nicely, but terse doesn't work very well with questions like that - at least not for me - so the fuller (as will be anyone who eats these goodies) reply is here:
*****
I'll be honest and admit I didn't know what Huskovy Knedlik were, until I looked them up and realised I do know them after all, by another name: Brotknödel (bread dumplings).
After learning that, IMO knedlik would go very well indeed with Paprikahendl, or indeed with any dish that has a rich gravy or sauce needing chased and mopped up to the last savoury drop. :->
By either name, they're a dumpling of flour, yeast, butter, eggs and milk made either round or in a fat sausage shape, poached in water or stock. The round ones are served whole, the long ones are sliced before serving.
On the right is a Czech huskový knedlík (Google translates it as "bun dumpling") while on the left is a German Böhmischer Serviettenknödel (Bohemian napkin dumpling).
Other versions use - indeed, ask for - yesterday's stale bread or rolls, cubed and fried golden then mixed with herbs, or bits of bacon, or chopped onion, and combined with the other dumpling ingredients before being wrapped to hold everything together during cooking.
This wrapper can be a piece of cloth, hence "napkin dumpling", though nowadays - as the photo shows - it's as likely to be cling-film.
The "clooty dumpling" of Discworld's Ankh-Morpork and the "clootie dumpling" of Thisworld's Scotland both get their names the same way - they're a cloth-y dumpling.
Simpler versions with fewer bits to fall off can be cooked without a wrapper, in a saucepan on the hob or, using a double-pan arrangement, water in a large pan and dumpling in a smaller then everything into the oven.
The slicing can be done with a knife, or with a piece of kitchen twine.
Here are a couple of English-language recipes. (One) (Two)
Ireland is currently sitting in the tag-end of another heatwave, but I can hear the initial rumbles and peas-on-the-roof rain of the thunderstorms that are supposed to end it, meaning autumn and hearty food is closer than it was last week.
So here's inspiration: Knedlik with goulash and raw onion garnish alongside Knödel with sauerbraten, capers (per @kommgehwech, they're raisins. Thanks!) and red cabbage.
Yum...

After Blair’s first day learning what her job would be consisting of she was still getting used to the whole situation. But after the wild sec they had in Will’s office she couldn’t help to blush whenever she seen him. She was happy but also a little embarrassed that the other employees spoke about her and what she had to do for the boss. She didn’t know how to tell her little sister but she was forever grateful that she was chosen by Will to be his maid with benefits.
(For Will)
@just-agirl-in-thisworld
Will hadn't expected for this to turn into what it was but he was enjoying himself immensely. He looked at the bell that was specifically designed for Blair for her to come to him whenever she was needed. He did want to see her so he rang the bell and waited.
He bit his lip as he leaned back in his chair. He knew she'd be wearing the outfit he chose and would look as beautiful as ever. He was already getting excited just thinking about it.

I love these two messed up kiddos.
My heart hurts for them, because they're kids, likely abandoned by their parents now that they are exposed as frauds, stilling in a jail cell awaiting trail
And it both is and isn't their fault.
The way troll magic interacts with the other beings of thisworld's, it looks like it acts like an upper, or an anti-depressant, and an inhancer for some abilities.
And children desperate to get away of a cycle of loneliness and neglect, who already have mental and emotional embalances, they could easily fall into that sort of addiction.
Expessially of other in their industry also use it.
Their parents or their producer could have gotten them their gear to kick start this cycle they where falling into.
And they're so co dependant latching onto and needing each other desperately, even if they are aware of how bad it actually is for them.
Veneer used a decent amount of talent to boost himself, and from what we saw, Velvet overloaded on the stuff. Taking talent from Floyd made them feel good, it made them better performers, they could be their best selves. Suddenly having to stop using something that makes you feel like that can hurt a person, and these kids are dealing with what is essentially withdrawal on top of everything else. Velvet is desperate for someone to be with her and Veneer wants space, but he still cares about his sister, it's agony sitting there waiting.
They know the verdict anyways. The trolls will likely want them punished harshly...which Veneer knows they deserve, but thinking about it makes him feel sick almost. Some adult in their life introduced them to the idea, Velvet took to it and even wrote a whole letter to get them more trolls, and these kids got addicted to something that made them happier. And now they're feeling after affects. Now everything is setting in. Who's going to side with them now? Nobdoy likes them. Nothing is going to rule in their favor. The twins are convinced of that...though they're not entirely right.
#trolls au#trolls#trolls band together#my au#trolls 3#Wolf's Trolls AU#These kids deserve better man.#I feel like Floyd vouches for them when the troll siblings all meet to discuss. He is aware of what they did to him#But he's also aware that they're just kids. He was there to witness them in weak moments. He understands and he wants them to have a chance#He's upset about what was done to him yes. But he doesn't think the kids deserve harsh imprisonment

It's been a while. Here are some updates.
I moved out of my parents house! Been living closer to chosen family for about a year.
Started a yarn dyeing business!
Now more pagan and godspouse things~
Still going strong with Gwyn! But also, weirdly, following Him has led me in the direction of a specific Minoan inspired tradition (Ariadne's Tribe) so you'll probably hear me mention that more. It's where a couple of my initiated monastic type paths are.
Somewhat related, something happened that I thought was off the table going by my pre-Dedication conversations with Gwyn. He made sure I'd be OK knowing He was the only one I'd be dedicated and (I assumed) godspouse-married to, and I was OK with that. But Gwyn's full blessing (I've checked many times, to the point where I've been asked to stop checking), I have a second God in my life who's taken on the role of Patron and Husband.
🍇 ✨️ Dionysus! ✨️ 🍇
He's one of the gods of the Minoan tradition I mentioned, but I also focus on His more Hellenic faces. This development is only a few months old and I'm super happy. This summer i think Gwyn has been experimenting with having me stay in Thisworld/ the Upper World (I mean emotionally and spiritually) while He sleeps in Annwn, and He can do that because I have other Gods and spirits to take care of me. In particular, both my Husbands have such deep kindness and respect, both for me and for my relationship with the other. For complicated, personal gnosis reasons I experience Them as brothers and lovers, and occasionally faces of each other. It's kind of like being in a triad.
This summer has been rough emotionally, but this part of my life is giving a lot of joy. So if you wanna talk about Dionysus, hit me up.

A Poem by Rumi
For this culture blog, I read a poem by the renowned Persian poet Rumi. The poem was titled “If a Tree Could Wander” and was translated from the original Persian to English by Annemarie Schimmel. The poem emphasizes the value of traveling— both physically abroad and spiritually inward— for personal discovery and improvement. It ends by saying:
“You lack a foot to travel?
Then journey into yourself!
And like a mine of rubies
receive the sunbeams? print!
Out of yourself ? such a journey
will lead you to your self,
It leads to transformation
of dust into pure gold!”1
Before reading the poem, I had known that Rumi was a Sufi. Doing a little more research, I learned that the Sufis were a group of Islamic mystics who espoused a religious philosophy of deeply subjective connection with the divine. Reading the poem with this context in mind, I began to notice the distinct mystical elements infused in the language and messages of the poem. Rumi uses a large amount of imagery and metaphors related to nature, emphasizing how central and beneficial motion is in the physical world. For instance, he likens a drop of water to a traveler
“that left its homeland,
the sea, and then returned ?
It found an oyster waiting
and grew into a pearl.”1
This connection he draws between human life and natural order, and his implicit encouragement to learn from and follow these natural mechanisms, seemed deeply mystical to me. Furthermore, his metaphor of journeying into oneself to receive enlightenment seemed like a central tenet of Sufism.
Never having read much Persian poetry before, I did not have many preconceptions going into the experience to challenge. Comparing this poem with English literature poems I have read, I noticed a lot of similarities in terms of the nature-related metaphors and themes. However, I did notice that the rhythm and punctuation of the poem seemed a little odd and disjointed at times. I wondered if this was an artifact of the translator attempting to transfer these features from Persian to English, which have some grammatical and syntactic differences. This made me wonder if I was missing any other verbal nuances and subtle details that might have been present in the original poem but were lost in translation.
Regardless, what I enjoyed most about the experience was seeing how the message of such an old poem can still be incredibly relevant to the modern reader. We live in an era where the ability to explore new places is far more feasible than Rumi’s time, and the importance of understanding ourselves never fades.
