Yesterday I lost a piece of my 💜 guys. I lost my Mama. She was admitted into hospital on Monday with a fever of 39.5°c by Tuesday afternoon she was no longer with us. She wasn't a well woman especially since her having to be placed in a medically induced coma due to her contracting pneumonia back in 2012. My mama has been in a lot of pain for a LOT of years and I am so glad that she is no longer in any pain. May the choirs of angels come to greet you, may they speed you to paradise where you can rest peacefully with Aunty Theresa, Grandad, Grandma and all the other family we have lost. Have a great party up there Mama, it's more than we can have down here right now. I'm kinda jealous 🤣 Love you eternally 💜 Whilst we haven't had a firm confirmation of exact cause of death, all her symptoms align with COVID-19...we should have more info tomorrow. All I can ask is you please tell your loved ones how much they mean to you. Use this downtime to reconnect where you can. Well, I choked my Vanilla CT Contrast down. Now the wait begins til my scan @ 9:30am. This is only my 4th scan this year. I now glow in the dark! 🤣 I find out next week how this scan goes. The bushy-tailed Zalak, unaware, carried on. “Aseveryoneknows thiscompanyisnotorious foritsconsistentfailure tofollowbasic safetyprotocols. “Huh?” She wiped at her sleep-covered eyes. “How do you know?”

Catapult grinned. “She said demon-child.”

Most of the crowd had trouble understanding Shaw at the best of times, but when she was riled up?...Well, let’s just say there was no way this presentation was going to leave a mark.

A few hours later, the Doctor was in his office, attending to his duties, when the Zalak burst into his office, her uniform marred with soot. “Chiefidon’t understandatall.”

“What’s wrong, Shaw? What don’t you understand? Oh, geez, more fires, huh...”

“Iworksohard onthesepresentations,” she continued, taking off her helmet and setting it aside on the couch as she walked over to the Doctor’s desk, “butitseemslike nobobylearnsanything anditdoesn’tmake anysensetome. BackatLungmen peopledidn’thave anytroubleunderstanding whatiwassaying...”

As she sat down in the chair next to his desk, her chief rummaged around in his desk until he found a brush and began running it along her tail. “I’d say you have one of the hardest jobs on this base, Shaw. Even after I put together a fire suppression team to help you out, our most stubborn pyromaniacs keep you all working triple overtime during the particularly bad days...Maybe you should take a vacation.”

“Avacation? Why?”

“Because the amount of stress you’re dealing with isn’t healthy, and you do such good work. You deserve a break.” The Doctor sighed. “Actually, I think we both do. Let’s go somewhere nice together.”

She turned to look at him, took a deep breath, and smiled. “Doyoudo thisonpurpose Chief?”

“What do you mean?”

“WheneverI’mtired youtakeabreak withme, andwheneverI wantavacation yousaywe shouldgoonone. It’slikeyoujust...know.”

He shrugged. “We’ve been working together for eight months and dating for six; I’d hope I’d know you pretty well by now.”

“Iguessthat’s trueisn’tit...Reallysixmonths? Itfeelslike itwasyesterday youaskedif wecouldcuddle onyouroffice-mattress...whichisstill aweirdthing foryoutojusthave.”

“I mean, now I can’t get rid of it even if I wanted to.” He smirked at the confused look on her face. “It’s one of my most treasured possessions after all the naps we’ve taken on it.”

The Zalak felt like she was burning now. “Chief...Let’sgosomewhere coldforthis vacationofours.”

“I hear Kjerag is beautiful this time of year if you like snow.”

“Snow...theexactopposite offire. Yesthatwould betheperfect placetogo.” Shaw collapsed against his shoulder. “You’rethebest ChiefIhope youknowthat.”

The Doctor set aside the tail-brush and hugged her close. “You know, while we’re there, we can see if SilverAsh could find some of those limited-edition In Anya We Trust stamps-”
