People are allowed to like both. Or only one and not the other. “But Jade! The people who say they’re fans now have only been fans since TFA! That doesn’t count!” Remember back in 1999 when Episode I came out and a whole bunch of new people were finally introduced to Star Wars? Remember how awesome it was to have new Star Wars content? Remember the people who screamed “George Lucas raped my childhood!!!!1111″? How many of those people are now the ones defending Lucas while shitting on Rian Johnson at every opportunity? I am just...so over it. All of it. My first introduction to Star Wars was catching part of Return of the Jedi on TV. I was hooked. My parents got me the (un-altered!) VHS set for my birthday in 1995. I was 12. That’s also when I was first active online, and fell in with a group of other Star Wars nerds in the WBS Star Wars Cantina chatroom.  I’m still really good friends with a lot of those nerds. From there I started reading the EU books; the YJK series came first, because at the time, I too was a teenager. I instantly felt attached to Jaina, but also wanted more of the story. So I read more EU books. And more. I cried when Chewie died. I weeped when Anakin died. I shipped Jaina with Zekk, and then with Kyp, and then finally with Jag. I was an absolute mess when Mara died. And when Jaina had to kill Jacen, I felt like I was being constantly punched in the gut for the entire book. Seeing Jaina finally get a happy ending was incredible, as was knowing there’d be more books featuring Jaina.

And then there wasn’t. I still have mixed feelings on the EU being wiped clean for new content. There was still so much potential for more. But I also realize that we’re still getting new Star Wars. Books, video games, comics, movies, and TV shows! That was something nobody thought would happen.  I’ve been slow to read new EU; it’s hard at times to forget the canon that had taken root in my head. Finding out that Coruscant was never the home of the New Republic? Was very weird. But! I’m enjoying seeing what/who they’re pulling back into canon. I’m enjoying getting more Star Wars. Most of all, I’m enjoying seeing my kids fall in love with Star Wars like I did.  So when asshole gatekeepers try to tell me that I’m a “Disney Shill” if I say I like the new stuff, then call me a “liar” and “crazy” when I point out that I’ve been a fan the majority of my life? I want to punch every single one of them in their stupid faces. Just...fuck off. And let people enjoy what they enjoy.

I wanna post/share content here that I enjoy myself and what doesn’t make me uncomfortable or I just don’t like. And that’s fine. I think that’s really what everyone should do!

We all don’t like the same things and everyone has their preferences in fandoms or in real life ofc. I’m not going to force myself to like something or share it just for someones approval or the possibility to have more followers. It wouldn’t be fun to me at that point y’know!

I saw a lot of people talking about their experience in the larry fandom and how they un-larry so I decided to talk about mine.

In 2017 I discover Harry Styles (where I am 1D wasn't exactly popular it was more for little girls, I had heard 2 songs WMYB and BSE which for me put them in a bad music category) so imagine my surprise and I heard Harry love his song and discover he's from 1D So I started listenning to 1d music, liked the late one more than the first, and ofc when you join thisfandom you obviously find larry. I started discuting it with my sister who I didn't know was already shipping them. We watch videos of them together, share fanfic… We loved Larry but we weren't exactly Larries and not even Houies. I loved the fanfic life that the larries created but knew that it was fictionnal since we aren't them, we can't know all the things of their live. I believed that something may have happened between them but never believe anything else. I don't condamn RPF (if you want I have a all discours about what I think of RPF and fandom hypocrisy about it) but be respectful of the people you "ship" and Larries and Houies aren't respectful, they think they know better. So when Louis lost his sister (something that my sister and I know since we lost a brother when we were 16 and 8) and I saw all them made it about Larry I saw red suddently I couldn't see Larry it became a huge stress for me I deleted all the larry fanfic I favorite, unfollowed Harry and Louis on instagram, unfollowed larry's tumblr… So here a story of a girl who loved a fictional couple made of real people sorry it's a little long and maybe not very interresting but I don't know if some were like me or if all were really believing the lies of the larries and Houies (sorry also for the english it's late, i'm french and i'm too tired to correct my mistakes)

But yeah it doesn’t sound like you were a fully fledged CT but still shows how it’s still harmful to endorse their beliefs in any way cause their behaviour is just so wrong.

I don't think Anti's realize that there's tons of grown adults that have our own careers and life experiences in thisfandom... I like pretty much everyone in the Kaylor fandom, but in a bastardization of the famous words of Shania Twain "You don't impression me much", most of us are grown ass adults that people couldn't even pay to pretend to be impressionable.
