Today's ramble: Grimmauld Place's row of elf heads (tw for said picture below)
In my first read through of Harry Potter, I was using a copy that had one little illustration on the first page of every chapter. I dropped the series after early book 5 because 6-yr-old me saw that picture of Grimmauld place house elves heads being hung on walls and did not want to find out wtf was going on.
Like this genuinely scarred me as a kid.
So imagine my surprise finishing the series a few years later and finding out that my main character just fucking used them as a christmas decoration.
By the way, why are they on the walls in the first place? It can't be to honour their service cos the wizards were the ones who chopped off their heads in the first place! Guys, let's honour them with retirement instead, perhaps!
I suppose memorialising them could be sweet (if only they weren't enslaved! and beheaded!) because idk maybe cultural differences & they find a bunch of head on walls a nice way to remember someone close to them instead of something morbid. The only problem here is that this 'hanging ppl's heads to honour their service' thing just isn't anywhere else. We know how wizards honour ppl they actually value: through magical portraits and all sorts of weird objects that can somehow allow a semblance of the dead to communicate with their living loved ones, not by putting their friend's head on the wall like some trophy from the hunt. In light of what we actually know (i.e. Sirius' ancestor invented the practice of beheading house elves once they get too old to perform their slave duties) seem much more like a punishment for outliving their usefulness and a deterrent mechanism to keep house elves 'useful' for as long as possible.
Anyway, Sirius black:
Antagonise my deceased ancestors at every turn by throwing out everything they've ever deemed precious? Fuck yes.
Get rid of the symbol of their vile and long-held tradition of hanging our slaves' heads after murdering them the moment they've outlived their usefulness? Nah...that can stay.
(Well, I dunno if Kreacher would have preferred those heads to stay. But freeing Kreacher would sure as fuck put this piece of wall decor in a better context.)

read The Home We Built. Can you describe Grey Hunt manor more?
Sure. That story is here. I know this probably or rather most definitely isn't architecturally sensical or sound, but to be fair, it changes depending on what fits in the story.
The outside is painted in gray of course, archery range off to the side. The front door, just a single door, blue. We enter through the foyer. Sometimes the walls are plain white or a pale yellow in my mind. There's a chandelier with a wood frame and elven crystals that appear branch like.
The living room has various paintings of snowdrops and blue roses done by both Percy and Keyleth. There's racks on the wall for Vex, Wolfe, and Leona to hang their bows, arrows, quivers, and whatnots. It's never used by Vex or the kids. LOL. They have a family portrait comissioned by a young artist named Genevive above the fireplace.
The kitchen has arched, rounded windows that allow for a lot of natural light. They have a massive kitchen island, the best quality stove, and a new fangled tall ice box. The door to that looks more like wood paneling. They have a nook with a round table by the window. Arrowheads, nicks on the island, and a few old food stains when the kids didn't want to eat their vegetables give the kitchen some character.
The hallway has each of the kids rooms'. Vesper's room is a lot of pinks and lavenders. She has huge parchment posters of her favorite musical artists of a pink troll, a purple tiefling, and a blue orc in a newsboy cap. All either old timey typewriter or calligraphy font.
The twins, they share. They argue about wanting to their own rooms on occasion, but to honest neither can sleep without Wolfe's snoring or the quiet little hoots, mid-slumber wing flaps from Leona's snow owl. They do have a deep purple curtain divider for privacy. Their walls are a rich coffee mocha color. Their parents decided that so there would be no arguments. Wolfe's side has a couple fencing trophies. Books on werewolves. Crude, for a 13-14 yr old wolf drawings under his bed. He has a few crude pamphlets/comic strips he stole from Uncle Scanlan. Men, women, NB individuals posing a bit too sexy. He thinks he can hide it well, but Vex and Percy catch on it and find it when they're with their tutors. Leona has archery trophies and a couple medals on their nightstand. They have books on fey and a series about a fairy/changeling royal romace on their shelves. Their floor is covered in multi-colored bowties, arrow parts, and dusty glasses cleaner clothes. Wolfe's is even worse. The boy leaves leftover food breakfast in bowls by his alarm clock.
Danny has mint green walls, a warm mural of a cherry tree and a friendly raven in it designed by Auntie Kiki. He has a toy box filled with various animal plushes and wooden airships/carriages. He has what starts out as the size of a doggy bed for Charlie, but eventually the cub needs let's say a sturdy twin bed. Percy and Vex ocassionally take away his lock picking kit he got from Auntie Pike, but a 4 year old boy and his trusty bear have ways.
Gwen has white walls with the mural of the two moons Catha and Ruidus. She has lots of fun baby books, rattles that change color, teething rings shaped like various animals -- bears, bees, lizard bee ect. She has blocks in the Infernal alphabet and bracelets, hats, and old clothes from Aunt Zee and Uncle Kash's twin girls. Her crib has little bite marks, especially when her fangs popped out. Her mobile has the stars.
Percy and Vex's master bedroom has their massive king sized bed, but honestly it's a bit more lumpy on Percy's side cuz Vex likes to spoon with both her legs tangled around him and her ear pressed to his left pec. They have Percy's short swords above their bed, which Vex isn't always fond of. Though they have come in handy. But it's a better, tamer visual of what they used to have before kids. A painting done by Percy in silhouette of Vex naked. Percy just saves that for his sketchbook now. They have a bed for Trinket that the kids will sometimes use. Lots of long cushions and sleeping bags tucked away in the closet for the kids. Their walls are cream colored. They have a little purple love seat, blue throw pillows, and a little table/tea cart for any warm drink.
Master closet is self explanatory. His and hers side. Massive dresser in the center with a few locked drawers for sexier things/hidden weapons.
Balcony on Vex's side of the room cuz she likes nature.
Second level has Percy and Vex's home office/study/quiet space. The walls are lined with tall shelves of books about various creatures, magical fauna surrounding the Parchwood. There's a secret short door for Trinket. Percy has his telescope in there. Vex has a few maps from her scouting. They have 2 separate desk where they go over the kids' schoolwork and expenses for the castle.
Percy's workshop covered in gears, tools, ect. He has a bunch of the kid's drawings, a small vase of seasonal flowers from Keyleth, letters piled from Pike and Scanlan, a long assembly desk, a literal drawing board, and there's a dropdown couch/sofa bed tucked away in a tall metal cabinet.
Pantry is self explanatory. They do have canned doughs from Pike, healthy cereals, fresh herbs, and veg. They also occasionally store a few gifts they hate in there.
Laundry room self explanatory, though they do have huge basins with enchanted washboards.
Vex and Percy have a spare room on the lower level, where they spar. They fence for fun, or honestly they do calming breathing exercises. Can't let those battle senses dull in times in peace.
Their bathroom not as spacious as the castle, but decent copper tub, chamber pot with a beaded cord to flush their waste.
The backyard has a swingset, sandbox, and a moderately sized airship (play house). A few of the kitchen staff live in a small, but easily livable bungalow between the lake and farm.
Lastly, they have secret doors that connect to various rooms.

Mae plays Your Turn to Die
Hi,
So, this one has been sitting on my computer for awhile, but I thought I'd finally get around to posting it. In fact, this was written long enough ago that the future release date has come and gone and you can now get YTTD on Steam.
Nevertheless I've decided to publish all the old posts that never made it to the blog proper. Mostly, so I stop thinking about em, and also so I break the hiatus and maybe get around to more posting.
___________________________
Hi,
Your Turn To Die(YTTD) is a visual novel/ point n click game made in Rpgmaker MV & developed by Nankidai.
YTTD is a game about people who are kidnapped and forced to play a death-game. The protagonist of the game is Sara Chidouin, a 17 yr old highschool girl. Together with her friend Joe and ten other people, she attempts to escape the game and solve the mystery of why they were all kidnapped.
Most of the gameplay consists of clicking on objects in rooms and using them to solve puzzles.. These puzzles are pretty fun and interesting but theyâre not the only gameplay type. The game also includes a variety of minigame sections with unique mechanics and gameplay. Some of these are one-off events and some of them are part of the core gameplay.
One of the core gameplay mechanics is the discussion system used during the main game. Sara can click each character to hear a statement from them about the discussion subject. She can also âextractâ more information from their statements. Their statements are now amended with this information. Sarah can use this information to expose contradictions or flaws in the current discussion. This is done by pairing two contradicting statements and âconflictingâ them with each other. Revealing a contradiction advances the discussion.Â
Each incorrect attempt uses âMindâ points which function similarly to HP. If Mind drops to Zero, the game is over. Thankfully the game is pretty forgiving and I didn't find it an issue. This is also helped by the ability to save at any point during the discussion. This means that it's always possible to progress the story and not have to replay any sections, as long as you remember to save frequently. I think this system is great, and an improvement over similar systems in Ace Attorney or in Danganronpa, which this game is clearly inspired by.
Speaking of being inspired by Danganronpa, this game clearly takes a lot of its visual design inspiration from that series. But also has a clear deliberate style of its own. Visually this game looks great. The environments are lavishly rendered pixel art and the character portraits and designs are great, everyone has a unique design and flair.
The narrative of the game is pretty solid, each chapter has a chapter story and each chapter also furthers the ongoing narrative and reveals more of the mystery. The pacing isn't too bad and the revelations and character development are solid. Itâs always difficult playing a game where we expect most of the characters will die. It makes it hard to make the audience care about them. Danganronpa also has this problem. Although, I think the writing here is better. Each character gets more development and depth, whereas in Danganronpa the characters are broad strokes and archetypes. Which is true here to a degree, but becomes less true as time goes on. Unlike in Danganronpa however, there is a degree of fluidity or branching narrative. Your actions throughout the game, and the results of the votes can cause different characters to survive. Iâve only played through the one variation I ended up on, but it's still neat that this can happen. Usually Iâd talk about the gameâs story overall and what I thought, but unfortunately, the game is currently in-complete. YTTD is released episodically and currently you can play up to Chapter 3: part one A.. Therefore I cannot discuss the story overall until the next chapter comes out. The game is slated for a steam release at some point this year, and chapter 3 will be released there first sometime after(I hope it's soon)
Iâd recommend this game very strongly, if you like this genre, or any of the other games I mentioned. I think it handles the mix of gameplay styles well and the story and the characters are engaging enough that the visual novel sections are good too. The game is visually striking and I like it a lot. Â

His beard bloomed and his hair sprang forth, like a riot of corkscrews, during lockdown. Now Michael Sheen sweeps on to the National Theatreâs Olivier stage in the manner of an Old Testament prophet descending from Mount Snowdon â or must we call it Yr Wyddfa?
Sheen is best known as a great mimic who played Chris Tarrant in last yearâs TV series about the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire coughing scandal, Quiz, and Tony Blair in the 2006 film The Queen opposite Helen Mirren â plus David Frost in Peter Morganâs play and film Frost/Nixon and Brian Clough in the The Damned United movie.
Here though he takes on the role of the narrator in Lyndsey Turnerâs bittersweet revival of Dylan Thomasâs verse drama written for radio in 1954 â re-imagined here in a care home. [...]
Looking pallid and paunchy in his creased shirt and saggy trousers, Sheen takes the role of the storyâs narrator, made famous by Richard Burton. Only here, Sheen relates the tale not to the audience but to his father, whose memories have been robbed by Alzheimerâs.Inebriated by the whisky he keeps hidden in his jacket, Sheen stumbles eagerly through the verse as if making it up as he goes along â painting pictures of people (and their dreams) in the Carmarthenshire port that lies âfast, and slow, asleepâ. [...] The care home setting does feel cheerless at first, but itâs a clever way of focusing the rambling yarn. And furniture on casters â including a shop counter, steaming stove and kitchen table, set with multiple cloths to denote different homes â add a sense of magic and playfulness.Nor could you wish for a more loquacious, richer narrator than hirsute, woody-voiced Sheen, who looks like heâs been training outside an off-licence. I just wish it had been bookended with silence rather than someone elseâs words. DailyMail
[...] On the circular stage of the reconfigured, socially distanced Olivier auditorium, Brownâs character patiently sets about starting up the dayâs routine with the residents drifting in to sit and talk and stare into space. But the temperature climbs with the unexpected arrival of Mr. Jenkinsâ son Owain (Michael Sheen), whose short-fuse exasperation turns swiftly to anger when his father cannot or will not communicate with him. Calmed by the staff, he and his father begin looking at an old family photograph album and Thomasâs original text takes over, now presented as a portrait of the village of Mr. Jenkinsâ not-quite-forgotten past. [...] Whenever it is staged â it was last seen at the National 25 years ago â the chief problem is the lack of momentum. Charactersâ (in)actions lack consequences, which makes it hard to engage with them except on a momentary basis. Owen and Turnerâs new frame seeks to address that directly by making Sheenâs character not an inert, impartial observer but a man desperate to tell the story to and with his father in order to connect, to awaken his fatherâs distracted mind. Previously neutral descriptions are thus charged up, which intermittently animates proceedings. [...] The ultimate moment of connection between father and son is affecting but the productionâs dangerous proximity to unearned sentimentality is also visible. And in the foregoing hour and three-quarter running time (with no interval), the sustained inertia grows wearing. Thereâs welcome tenderness aplenty but, when it comes to storytelling, thereâs too much telling and, alas, too little story. Variety
Michael Sheen is terrific in Dylan Thomasâs linguistic tour de force, which remains undimmed by the years [...] The whole home thing is a nice enough idea that ambles on agreeably⌠but itâs a thrill when the play proper starts: it feels like the air suddenly fizzes and crackles when Sheenâs narrator introduces us to Llareggub on one âstarless and Bible-blackâ night. Ultimately, the care home business feels minor and diversionary, a framework to (kind of) explain why the poem is being performed. But it doesnât really have a payoff or purpose beyond the performance of the poem itself. I'm not sure anyone really needs my opinion on I âUnder Milk Woodâ as Thomas wrote it. But for what itâs worth I think itâs brilliant â time hasnât dimmed it, his language remains bracingly wild, elemental and weird. And this is a very good, detailed performance of it â Sheen is impassioned and urgent, like heâs electrified by the surging flanguage; the cast of mostly older actors tend to get more playful roles, and seem to be having terrific fun. [...] You bought your tickets to see Michael Sheen doing âUnder Milk Woodâ and youâve got Michael Sheen doing âUnder Milk Woodâ â nobodyâs going to feel disappointed. Time Out
[...] Sheen â shaggy, bearded and full of humanity â leads as the narrator but this is really an ensemble show, animated with amusing turns by Siân Phillips, Cleo Sylvestre and Ifan Huw Dafydd among others. It comes with an inventive framing device (additional material is written by Siân Owen) in which Sheen plays the son of Richard Jenkins (Karl Johnson), who is losing his bearings when he is visited by Jenkins Junior in his nursing home. [...] While this is a charming production that bewitches, it begs the question of why a drama that is so consciously retreating into the past is revived now, and how it speaks to our pandemic landscape. Thomas draws a picture of a place steeped in stasis and saturated in nostalgia. Time has stood still here, as Thomas makes clear in the symbolism of the village clockâs frozen hands, and it arguably represents his yearning for a bygone world after the second world war. This production seems entirely conscious of its retreat into the past and it resembles a lost world that is both comforting and jarring after the horrors of the pandemic. The Guardian
To hear Michael Sheen deliver Under Milk Wood feels akin to witnessing Gielgud's Hamlet or Rylance's Rooster Byron. It is nothing short of theatrically seminal. As hoped, the poetry is magnificent. He orchestrates Dylan Thomas's posthumously performed masterpiece as a maestro conductor, all waving hands and syncopated rhythm. There are times when his words seem to literally hang in the air, leaving the socially distanced Olivier audience hypnotised. I could listen to him say "Now behind the eyes and secrets of the dreamers in the streets rocked to sleep by the seaâŚ" on loop forever. [...] The concept doesn't always feel completely cohesive - it seems strange that everyone so willingly joins the performance when Sheen's character is so cold and skittish with them initially - but Lyndsey Turner's beautifully choreographed in-the-round production is convincing enough to override such niggles. The metanarrative also has the noticeable effect of causing Sheen to speak as if he is conjuring Dylan's words on the spot. This lends both an immediacy to the language and also a purpose to its rich imagery - after all, here is a man desperately trying to paint pictures in his father's addled imagination. Under Milk Wood is in some sense a victim of its own familiarity, and Turner's staging lends a much-needed freshness over reverence. [...] Whatsonstage
A charismatic Michael Sheen is part showman, part shaman in this staging of Dylan Thomasâs 1954 radio play, conjuring a Welsh town into lyrical, beguiling life with mostly older actors on a bare stage. Lyndsey Turnerâs production marks a triumphant reopening for the Nationalâs Olivier Theatre, where the audience now sits on all sides, a configuration that lends itself to simple production values and a deeper communion between actors and onlookers. It begins oddly, though, in the middle-distant past with Sheen as an angry, wild-bearded writer visiting his demented father (Karl Johnson, heartbreaking) in a care home. Thomasâs poetry is the only way to reach the old man, and his fellow residents are duly summoned to incarnate the townsfolk of the authorâs fictional Llareggub (âbugger allâ backwards). Itâs an awkward framing device with a serious point: to stress the importance of community and memory, and salute the talents and rich lives of elder generations. But what a lovely, bittersweet spell this show casts. Sheen, like Richard Burton and Anthony Hopkins, grew up in Port Talbot, an hour from Laugharne where Thomas lived and partially wrote the play. He has the contours of the language and the landscape in his head, and an oratorâs relish for Thomasâs evocative phrasing. We first see Llareggub asleep, âstarless and bible blackâ and meet its inhabitants in their dreams. [...] Eveningstandard

My experience with "Wardens of Eternity" by Courtney Moulton
Iâve apologize beforehand because, English is not my main language, but I know that all the readers of this book speak English, even better and fluid than me. Itâs been quite long since this amazing story was announced⌠I was craving to read more of the stories that are crafted in Courtney Moultonâs mind⌠And this specific one, was intriguing me because it had something to do with Egyptian mythology. After 2 years, and days before my Birthday, the preorder for the book was available in Amazon, and had a dateline: January 21st 2020⌠Iâve preordered months later, and finally, I was certain that the book was so close to be in my hands, and under my sight to be devoured with infinitely curiosity and expectations. When it finally arrived, Iâve almost cried (I was in the office, so) and the excitement filled me. My collection was again complete. The Book cover is beautiful!! Everyone keep asking me in the bus and the office what I was reading, because the cover was attractive to them. Under the beautiful cover full of Egyptian paraphernalia, a really simple book with aged gold color and the same font engraved with the title. It could pass as an ancient book⌠so Iâve made myself a book marker with a golden ribbon, a gemstone, a feather and a golden tablet, so it can match the beautiful book in an aesthetic way.
This story doesnât disappoint at all⌠surely, itâs completely different in timeline and development than the Angelfire Series, and you can see that the author has grown meanwhile working in this story. But never losing her characteristic side: To pick fearless and strong female characters. As a woman, I felt identified and proud of this girl, who grow up as well, with a final chapter that I will never, even in my wildest dreams, have think of⌠and thatâs what makes the book, even cooler.
_Without giving much spoilers, Iâll talk about my experience with âWardens of eternityâ and how this story makes me feel. _
_Ziva Mereniset was a 17 yr old orphan girl, who, from the very beginning, never felt like she could fit, is living (or surviving) in New York. Always lonely, always starved, always tired, she develops a great instinct for survival, and a pure heart. She had only one memory of her parents, who left her when she was 3 yrs old. A girl whoâs the vivid portrait of the mixed-race girls who feel like, cannot fit into the world⌠She keeps repeating to herself that she was nothing, that she doesnât feel beautiful, because the society where she grows up, was telling her so. Iâve started to thing in all those girls around the world, who doesnât feel pretty because they donât have what the stereotypes shows to the society. I cried every time I read those lines when, this young girl, with so many potentials, felt lesser that garbage. No one in the planet deserve to feel that way. Then I remembered the 15 yr old me, who hated who she was, because fate was being cruel with me. Courtney put so many feelings in this book, reflecting what she felt, what other girls like her and me felt every time people criticize and push us aside because of how we looks. _
_Ziva had an encounter with this boy and girl, who look like her, and they were giving her a chance to find herself and fulfill her destiny. These Brother and sister, proved to her that it was more in the world that what she saw everyday in NY, and the most important thing: That she belonged to a place, that she was born to a purpose, bigger than her. This gave her the Strength to continue, and became a better version of herself. I loved how the author gave different personalities to this siblings, who complemented perfectly to each other. _
_Then, we have the Medjai, a tribe of warriors whoâd been defending and guarding the world for thousands of years. This is the part when we started to see the supernatural and mythological side of the story, with all those spells (who Iâve memorize and keep it in my mind to understand the story) and weapons (Courtney is good writing action stories, specially when this involved weapons) and very well detailed places and things that made you feel like you were into the story. Thereâs also, a great vibe of Diesel punk mixed with Egyptian beauty. _
_One of the things I love in this book, was how it was written. Not only you can see Zivaâs perspective, also, you can see other significant characters taking place in the book as main ones. The accuracy of many situations and backgrounds made me realize how meticulously good, the author investigated about Egypt and their mythology. _
Once you start to read the chapter 30, everything is mind-blowing⌠I got the chance to read only in my lunch break and in the bus when I was way home. Can you imagine the face of the people around me every time I hit one of those plot twists? And me, being a very expressive kind of person, was even more noticeable for the others. I must admit that I yelled at the book in public more than once (Sorry, people on the bus!) Is a story that traps you and keep you focus in an unnatural way.
_To give a proper finish (and not keep spoiling it any more) The book has a big moral lesson to teach us all: no matter where we are from, or how we look, or our backgrounds and social status, no one can stop us from shinning. We have very bright futures, but we can only reach then, if we put our heart and soul into make it real. No one is perfect, but all of us can be the best version of ourselves! _
_Everyone go and check out âWardens of Eternityâ, I assure you, youâll love it! And remember: You are beautiful, magnificent and powerful, donât let anyone to tell you otherwise. _
Thanks for reading!

Nott: âWell hi, my name is Nott the brave and Iâm a little goblin girl. But, once upon a time i was Veth, a young halfling woman and before that, a halfling child who grew, um, up being told that she was pretty and not brave and not coordinated and not smart and just not..
Jester line
Nott: Yea, I was. And then, ya know, time went by and i got older, i was made fun of quite a bit. I had this um, Ppl thought i was strange, b/c i collected things, i collected lots of things, they were outstanding. They were wax seals, and pieces of colored paper, and some buttons and fabric,
Beau line
Nott: All kinds
Beau line
Nott: Well they didn't think so, i had brothers and people in town who would just ridicule me
Jester: that was here
Nott: Yes, and one day i um  i was playing a game with the other boys and they dared one of their friends to give me a kiss, and the boy was very nice and he actually seemed to like it and he and i became friendly and eventually did what people do and got married and he didn't mind my strangeness and i helped him get his apothecary up and running and he was a brilliant chemist and could make acids and potions and oils and bleaches for fabric for all sorts of things and he helped me. Eventually we had a baby named luke and he was a bright boy, very smart, he learned to talk very early and walk very early. Such a smart boy and that's who you saw back there is my son.
Jester: so was he right, did you die?
Nott: I think so, I think so, uh. We had a rough winter in felderwind, there were not a lot of crops and i think some of the animals had died that winter. This river i brought you to this sort of, it's a beautiful place i used to come here with yeza and it's an important place i used to come here with yeza⌠the goblins would come from over there, they would raid from over there [points]... They came into town and raided more and more, they took us. They took me and my husband and my child, they held us in one of their camps. I donât know if it was days or weeks or months. Luke, he wasnât doing wellâŚ.. We ran, we ran in the dead of night, they were fast, i've been chased a lot⌠i told them to run⌠the goblins followed me and when they found me i fought, i had a vial of acid and i threw it in the face of the one trying to catch us, they took me back to the camp. I think he died from his woundsâŚ[I think he was a type of leader] i think he had a wife. This goblin told the woman âmake her sufferâ and they did. They brought me to this river and they drowned me in it. I can still feel the water in my lungs and in my ears and in my nose. And then nothing. Until i woke up and saw the hands.. The skin and i looked in a puddle and i could see what they made me. They made me into everything i thought i was. Not pretty, not good, just not. I'll be honest, i've started forgetting what it was like to be halfling. Just everyday just more and more goblinâŚ. I'm sorry i didnât tell u and im sorry i lied and i'm sorry caleb i didnt tell u. You would have understood and you could have helped me, i dunno. I feel like you're almost there like you're almost strong enoughâŚ. Anyways that's how i got to you, and that's why i got to you and why i can't be in this town. Well i only recently started signing the letters. I don't know what he would think of me. {Missed a lot here}
{nott was in the goblin clan kinda as a slave} I would clean out the messes and clean after the meals. The one [goblin] who tortured, i would help him, maybe six months. So maybe a year, no more than a year, a year and a half? I don't know exactly.
Cad can sober up Nott and Nott lets him via lesser restoration b/c alcohol is a toxin
First time weâve seen sober nott in a while
Theyâre in the valley [la joke?]
The Goldfield Tavern and Lodge
Beau to Caleb: You puked all over that apothecary so something is definitely not right
Liam is so good
They headed south towards the woods for the chat
Fjord very pointedly asks if nott is ok leaving his son. He asks twice.
Caleb wonât talk in town
Edith is staying for now and nott gave her 200 gold.
No one in town knows that Veth is alive
âI forgot what he looked like. He forgot what i looked like.â-Nott about Lukeâ we need to know the ones we love.â
Beau: Nott you drowned, and you just spent three months underwater, that's incredible. I don't know if you realized that. Its incredible.
Fjord thinks Edith and Luke should leave town. Jester offers to send them to her mum. Possibly going just more west without crossing the border.
Letter to Bryce to get them somewhere safe and closer to border in case of speedy exit of the empire.
Nott  admimatly wants to find Yeza
Jester via sending: âHello, its jester. Two people incoming, a woman and child, take care of them please. Were sending money with them, it is important. Please help.â

Jester: âDid you die too?â

Caleb: âI have been using you all.â
Jester, confused: How?
Caleb:I am from Rexingtrum. I attended Soltrace Academy. I was plucked by one of the cerborous assembly and was being trained to do the things that i fear were being done to [Yeza]. A lot a big plans for me that didnât plan out- I went a little crazy and ran away, ran away. I have been on the run for long time. I was tired of starving. And I met you. I was a little less hungry for a while. I have been afraid for a long time, two of the people in that town are from the cerberus assembly. I don't think [the assembly members would recognise him] I walked passed that portrait many times. One of them is the head of the cerberus assembly. There's good teachers, it's everything they describe it to be. After going there for several months, one of the assembly  who also would teach on occasion, started interviewing me. Calling me in and asking me questions. He sorta put me in an advanced class, me and a few others. I don't want you all to be seen with me by one of them, they will use you to get to me. You met the man who trained me. His name is Trent Ikathon.
Jester: thats why you make that face all the time
Caleb: Iâm not a very good person.
Jester: âI dont think out actions donât define us all them time. Good people do bad things sometimes bad people do good things. I think youâre a good personâ
Beau: âdo you care about us? Youâve told us several times youâre not a very good person.â
Caleb: im worried about your husband.  I know the things that man can do.[unravels arm wrappings to show a series of small cuts going up the entirety of the right arm] He used to put crystals in⌠he he experimented on the three of us.
NottL what would they do? The crystals
He uhh was trying to strength us. The first time i ever saw that word was in your libraries, no explanation.
Beau: The dunamous?
Caleb: No, the first time iâve ever seen that word was in your libraries. Haphazardly scrolled into that word. No, no everything was for the empire. We were being trained to serve the empire above all. He was mad himself, he was mad. He believed that the unwashed masses relied on their base instinct and the highest calling was to rise above the muck and control the cattlel. We were, are at war. Many of us, felt that way, feel that way.
Nott: Do you still that way?
Caleb: I donât believe in anything, now.
Fjord: This Trent, does he know these two we saw?
Caleb: Oh yes, yes, yes. And I donât want one more thing on my head to have you guys. Probably too late anyways.
Fjord: How powerful are these two anyways? Our normal tricks, would they fall short?
The Cerberus assembly are the most powerful mages in the empireâŚover 200 yrs ago a # of mages went to war in the streets of Restrum and um, it was bloody and awful and eventually came to a truce ⌠proposed to the king at the time that they serve as an advising body to the throne.
Jester: Would they see if we were disguised? Or would they have to look for us.
Caleb: I donât know for sure but there is a reason i didn't use something like that back there.
Fjord: So, we need to give the a very wide birth.
Nott: [why would they take yeza]
Caleb: I donât know. It is something to do with the thing. But i donât know why him.
[Jester reading the burned notes and meaningless stuff mostly they wonât kill Yeza]
Caleb: Was he gifted in his work? What is written about here but it does not seem like anything i ever learned about that.
[?]: It says there that they are looking for a way to achieve their ends w/o the object. Â I donât know what they need.
Beau: trent ikathon was looking at yasha....
Calev: I hope he is alive i really do but they will make his life a living hell. And the empire. They are as close to as powerful if not as powerful as the king. I used a lot of names. Caleb is just what i told you. I donât know. Caleb, let's stick with caleb for now. Um i honestly donât know if we can, if we are up to this. Unless they are on land, this is the might of the empire. Vestduragna is the arch mage of antiquities.. She's a historian, she has uncovered mysteries of the past. She's a history buff, she's awful probably. He is the head of the military, so if they are both here i would say he is here over seeing the military and she is overseeing what is in that bag.

Caleb: ok
Beau: dont run. You can say you don't believe in us, that's fine. Believe in us just a little bit, ok?
Caleb: I will consider it heavily.
Beau: Iâm sorry for not hearing you yesterday⌠i heard that you were doubting me and us and our friendship
Caleb:âi dont doubt any of you

For cosplay reasons, I need to know who has red hair and looks the youngest in The Vampire Chronicles. (Iâm a girl, and I really would like to cosplay as someone. Iâm on Queen Of The Darned. And if there is someone, please describe them for me.) Thank you!
We have *~several~* redheaded characters to choose from, anon! Age is relative tho, thereâs youngest in actual years, then thereâs youngest in appearance.
****Opening my overcoat to reveal the gingers****
The Vampire ArmandÂ
Heâs probs your best bet, being the youngest in appearance, he was turned into a vampire when he was 17. Heâs one of the main characters and pretty easily recognizable even to ppl outside VC fandom. Heâs over 400 yrs old now. Other characters often compare him to the youths in Botticelliâs paintings; so pretty, he mentions that heâs mistaken for being a girl at least once in his mortal life.
[^Portrait of a Young Man 3., Botticelli, and I think the expression is very Armand, heâs pretty much the sassy teen of the series but as grumpy as an old man]Â Â
I would never be anything but the seventeen-year-old boy you see now⌠[but] I am not a waif and never have been. I am a strong child. - Armand, The Vampire Armand
^X @amadeo-child-of-the-renaissance found this, another Botticelli angel Armand, with a face thatâs more canon-compliant IMO ;) AR bases Armand off these Botticelli angels and they have varying straight and curly hair, usually wavy at least.Armandâs hair is described as curly when he was mortal and when he was a fledgling, so I think thatâs the natural state of it.
Armand can be dapper or grungey depending on his mood, so the crucial aspect is really his hair, and if you want extra credit, you may want to carry a blender around, thatâs sort of the fandom joke about him and Daniel going nuts over blending stuff in QOTD.
Hereâs some Armand cosplayers (theyâre mixed into that link) you might wanna check out ;)
Other redheads in the series⌠bc I donât wanna hide the rare VC ladies under a cut! NO CUTS WE LONG POST LIKE MEN
Jesse Reeve
^Iâm not wild about her portrayal in the QOTD movie but anyways⌠sheâs a little over 30 when sheâs turned, and it was 1985, so she is technically younger in age than Armand. He will always look younger than her, tho.Â
Cosplaying Jesse Reeve would involve smtg about her being a Talamascan, maybe, or carrying Claudiaâs diary? She finds it in QOTD.
Maharet and Mekare
^The redhaired twins. You might go to @redhairedtwinâ, a Maharet RPer, for descriptions of the twins.Â
^X Maharet (left) and kid!Jesse (right) in the QOTD movie. I headcanon Maharet and Mekare as being younger in appearance than we see Maharet in the movie, but idk right now how old they were when they were turned (I donât have my books to check either). Early 20â˛s, early adulthood, I think. Maharet and Mekare are technically the oldest on this list but they might look the same age or younger than Jesse.
Cosplaying one of the twins means a bloody mouth or bloody eyes.
Madeleine
^poor Madeleine in the the IWTV movie barely had any screentime, she got a little more in the book, but sheâs rarely mentioned in later canon. Louisâ first fledgling, made to take care of Claudia so he can go bang Armand move on with his afterlife. Sheâs a more obscure character, but sheâs A REDHEAD SO SHE COUNTS!
If you want to cosplay her, carrying a doll that looks like Claudia, or wearing a locket with a portrait of a Claudia look-alike, thatâd be a good accessory ;)
I think thatâs all the relevant redheads in VC, but if anyone can think of more, feel free to reblog and add!

Pilot major project ideas
For my pilot major project, I have decided that I want to create a body of work that will be based around North Wales, where I have lived all my life before moving to London to continue my studies. From spending time away from North Wales, it has given me the opportunity to realise and appreciate what I have moved away from and how lucky I am to call it my home. I also feel by creating a body of work about my area will be quite unique for people to see in the city, which will be highly beneficial for my pilot major project and quite possibly for my final major project next year. I want to find a project that has a lot of cultural issues either previously or currently.Â
As Wales is highly known for its beautiful landscape and its industrial history of many quarries and various factories, I want to explore this as my area of interest. The ideas I currently have that surround the industrial history are:
The slate industry of North Wales
The Ferodo FactoryÂ
The slate industry of North Wales
The existence of the slate industry in Wales has existed since the Roman period, when slate was used to roof the fort at Segontium, now known as Caernarfon located on the edge of the Menai Straits. The slate industry grew slowly until the early 18th century, then expanded rapidly until the late 19th century, at which time the most important slate producing areas were in Northwest Wales, including the Penrhyn Quarry near Bethesda, the Dinorwig Quarry near Llanberis, the Nantlle Valley quarries, and Blaenau Ffestiniog, where the slate was mined rather than quarried. Penrhyn and Dinorwig were the two largest slate quarries in the world, and the Oakeley mine at Blaenau Ffestiniog was the largest slate mine in the world. These quarries all surround where I have lived and grew up all my life.Â
The Penrhyn Quarry is still producing slate to this day, though at a much reduced capacity from its heyday at the end of the 19th century. In 1995, it accounted for almost 50% of UK production. It is currently owned and operated by Welsh Slate Ltd (a subsidiary of Lagan Building Solutions), which also owns and carries out some operations at the Oakeley quarry at Blaenau Ffestiniog, the Pen yr Orsedd quarry in the Nantlle Vale, and the Cwt-y-Bugail quarry.Â
The Welsh slate industry was essentially a Welsh-speaking industry. Most of the workforce in the main slate-producing areas of North Wales were drawn from the local area, with little immigration from outside Wales. The industry had a considerable influence on the culture of the area and on that of Wales as a whole. The caban, the cabin where the quarrymen gathered for their lunch break, was often the scene of wide-ranging discussions, which were often formally minuted. A surviving set of minutes from a caban at the Llechwedd mine at Blaenau Ffestiniog for 1908â10 records discussions on Church Disestablishment, tariff reform and other political topics.Â
Most of the workings and equipment in the quarries such as the slate trucks and pulleys across the landscape have now fallen into disrepair as when work ceased it was left in situ, which has resulted in nature slowly reclaiming back the land. Some of the quarry locations have now been re-used and turned into tourist attractions such as Dinorwig quarry where it is now within Padarn Country Park where the Slate Museum is located in Llanberis.Â
Due to the beautiful landscape and large amount of history it holds, North Wales heavily relies on tourism as a vital source of income. Even though Penrhyn quarry is still in use, one part of the quarry has been turned into a very popular tourist attraction known as Zipworld. It is the fastest zip line in the world and the longest in Europe. The zip line, known as Big Zipper takes you over the quarry lake often reaching speeds well in excess of 100mph. These attractions bring thousands of people every month to the local area to take part and to learn about the strong history of the location. Another part of Dinorwig quarry houses the Dinorwig power station in caverns under the old quarry workings. This is a hydro-electric scheme where water is stored at a high altitude in a resivoir located at the top of Marchlyn Mawr mountain. This is discharged into Llyn Peris through the turbines during times of peak electricity demand. It is pumped back from Llyn Peris to Marchlyn Mawr during off-peak times. The production of electricity is then distributed to the local area
As my project, I would like to document how these quarries currently stand in their form which will show the dilapidated state of the old quarry houses and existing equipment and show how nature is slowly reclaiming back the land from its rich history. I would also like to explore how important these tourist attractions that have been created from using the quarries bring income not only to their businesses, but also to the area. As I mentioned tourism, I could photograph these areas and also the tourist to create series of portraits that have come to visit from all over the world. This could include asking them a few questions about where they are from, what brought them to this area and what they think now they are actually here. I feel if I followed this idea, I would need to break it down into sub-ideas to give me and also the viewers a clear indication which route I am following and the true purpose. Â
The Ferodo Factory
The Ferodo Factory is an abandoned and dilapidated factory that is located on the banks of the Menai Straits, near Caernarfon. Ferodo was one a state of the art plant that manufactured brake parts and clutches for the motor vehicle industry. After the closure of the quarries across north Wales with thousands of people becoming unemployed, Ferodo offered work to the ex-workers. After the construction of the site for several years, it was opened in 1962 by Princess Margaret, where it employed 1100 people. Over the years the workforce gradually became smaller where in 1997 it was bought and renamed to Friction Dynamics by American businessman Craig Smith where it employed 220 people. Problems started to occur soon after when Transport and General Workers Union (T&G) complained over unfair pay and work conditions. 86 workers went on strike which resulted in Smith sacking these workers and caused fury for not only the workers, but the whole surrounding area and community.
A court tribunal was held in 2002, where workers were found to be unfairly dismissed. Smith reacted to this and called in the administrators in 2003. Within three weeks, Smith decided to re-start up the factory and renamed it to Dynamex Friction. This caused even more anger and fury for all the local area where many protest marches occurred. This resulted in (T&G) holding a picket at the gates for two and a half years. A second tribunal was held where it was found that Friction Dynamics and Dynamex Friction were the same company and resulted in the site being sold in 2004 and finally closed its doors in 2008. It is recorded to be one of the longest industrial disputes to date. Over the last few years, there has been various talks of using the land for various uses including a multi-million pound digital centre and a state-of-the-art prison, but due the large amount of asbestos inside the site and that has been buried in the surrounding grounds over the years, many have been put off by the hefty estimate of ÂŁ20-30million pounds just to clear the site safely and correctly. Since closing in 2004, it has stood empty ever since, and has lead to several arson attacks over the years.
As this was a major industrial plant in North Wales and for the local area I live in, my interest has grown in the current dilapidated state of the building in a way that achoes its recent history of industrial dispute and failure. My plan is to document how the site currently stands and capture how nature, vandalism and short-term illegal occupancy has changed the character of the abandoned site. I am also hoping to contact ex-workers of the site that still live in the local area to see if they would be interested in taking part of my project by allowing me to photograph them to create a series of portraits, and ask them a brief description about their roles at Ferodo and any memories both good or bad they are willing to share.Â
I feel whichever idea I decide to follow will be both as appealing to each other due to their industrial history and disputes over the years. I also feel the body of work will stand out in London as it is something different to what most in the City see and also because of my relationship with North Wales will allow me to commit and put all my attention to it rather than following a project based on London which I wouldnât be totally happy and driven about.Â
Over the next few weeks, I will consider these options and decide which would be best to follow as I will need a clear direction and enough time to give myself to travel back and forth to North Wales on the weekends to capture these photographs.Â

A few customers on Reddit have claimed that one of the stills is from Saving Personal Ryan, however, there is presently no evidence of that. Nevertheless, itâs really worth taking with a pinch of salt until Activisionâs reliable statement.
It would really make feel after the lukewarm response to last Yrâs Sport, mainly in comparison to the WWI-set Battlefield 1.
Sledgehammer Video games are making this Yrâs installment of the decision of Responsibility shooter series.
Based totally on an antique Sledgehammer Twitter put up, it was formerly counseled that The brand new Call of Obligation might be set in London at some point of one of the amazing world wars, which ties into these new leaks.
Brad Wardell, the CEO of Stardock, an agency that specializes in photos and technology innovation, believes that a rolling hardware improves system could quickly be followed through each.
Sonyâs PS4 Seasoned Microsoftâs Xbox Scorpio are virtually unique ventures from the conventional cycle followed by using each company in the beyond.
Whilst weâve visible smaller consoles launched, that is the first time weâve to see a mid-generational refresh.
Speak approximately the effect of 4K gaming on the PS4 Pro development and how things should exchange inside the future for game enthusiasts, Wardell advised Gamingbolt: âI think 4K is becoming quite common now, however, I assume after they were beginning out, I donât suppose any of us predicted it to take off quite as plenty as it did.
âAlternatively, thereâs Nevertheless quite a variety of thrilling matters waiting- HDR goes to be a large deal. In order thatâs any other component, these guys will all need to assist thru upgrades of their hardware (and via the way, Nitrous Engine supports HDR, I assume weâre the most effective ones who do).
And that it creates a pretty incredible visible distinction. I donât suppose that many humans have HDR but, although.
âSo give it another Year or ⌠I assume, all the guys will become releasing only early or bi-yearly improvements to these things, like the iPhone, and theyâll all going to end up following the iPhone version, in which you must have as a minimum this version for it to work.â
There has been an awful lot hypothesis over the destiny of generational jumps in consoles and the way useful it could be to tweak how matters currently paintings.

XBOX One â Games With Gold June 2014
earlier this 12 months, Microsoft introduced the âVideo games with Goldâ characteristic might be making its debut on XBOX One in June. Like many other gamers, I used to be excited to look what would be loose, particularly with the sort of restricted Recreation library available. To my marvel (and pride), they did not disappoint. the primary two Video games to be made unfastened with a gold Xbox Stay membership were Max: The Curse of Brotherhood and Halo: Spartan Attack.
Max is a widespread platformer with a not-so-well-known twist, the capability to attract on the surroundings with a âmagic markerâ given to you by a magic old female. This modification the dynamic from a Rayman-like jumping Recreation to a next stage puzzle platformer. The excellent manner I can describe itâs far Rayman and Little massive Planet having a baby and the child changed into rendered fantastically with subsequent generation console portraits. Puzzles are numerous and difficult, and hold the participant entertained for the complete 5-hour marketing campaign. The tale is a chunk flat, as the sport is manifestly meant for a younger crowd, however, the communicate between characters is often funny sufficient to tickle every age.
With these many strengths, it is simple to miss the mild weaknesses proven via Max. Marker controls are every so often unresponsive and can pressure you to begin entire puzzles yet again, and the physics are about as irritating as one might expect from a normal bounce and run Recreation. every now and then your person sincerely wonât grasp a ledge that he obviously has to have, and other instances he will some way latch onto one that is manifestly out of his attain. these shortcomings can be frustrating at instances, but best deduct a small quantity of amusement from this in any other case top notch Game.
Max: The Curse of Brotherhood sets the same old excessive for platformer Video games at the Xbox One with its various landscapes, attractive puzzles, and exquisite snapshots. Even if youâre no longer a large fan of this style of Recreation, I guarantee youâll find it really worth a free play thru.
The alternative name made loose by way of Games with Gold became Halo: Spartan Assault. currently the handiest Halo Recreation on XB1, Spartan Assault is a dual-stick shooter that tells tales of famous and important battles in the history of the Covenant war. Familiar characters which include Spartan Sarah Palmer assist tie the game into the franchise, but the sport stands on my own well, even for a person who has in no way played a Halo Recreation earlier than.
âdual-stickâ refers to a manipulate scheme popular with indie and arcade Games. It implies an aerial view, looking nearly directly down, with one pleasure stick controlling movement and The other controlling the firing of A few weapon in a circle around the man or woman. Correct examples encompass Smash Television, Geometry Wars, and the indie surprise hit I Made A Recreation With Zombies In It.
Without problems the maximum properly prepares twin-stick shooter I have ever performed, Halo: Spartan Attackâs controls are fluid and clean to understand, and the missions vary sufficiently to maintain you fascinated. Usually twin-sticks are easy Video games Primarily based on surviving waves of enemies for as long as possible, however, this Recreation does the Halo call proud with a laugh and tough targets, such as taking pictures targets and escorting AI.
Spartan Assault additionally boasts a cooperative multiplayer mode wherein two gamers can face increasingly more zombie creatures for a quick time. At the same time as enjoyable for a time, this multiplayer grows antique quick and most possibly wonât occupy you for a number of hours.

Microsoft surprised me by means of freeing two of what I take into account to be the satisfactory arcade Games to be had at the Xbox One. I might have gladly paid for both of them, but thanks to my gold membership, I got them free of charge and get to hold them for as long as I have my membership. To pinnacle it off, new loose Video games will be released each month to all gold individuals. Augustâs services are Purple Dragon and Strike Healthy 0.

OT but you'll have to indulge my venting. If they're doing the whole Vampire Chronicles, I can't imagine anyone else doing justice to the patrician grandeur of Marius but Ralph Fiennes. The guy even paints! A white-silvery mane of non-human hair buoyant as his paintbrush. Picture it! The intense sweep of the eyes dissecting the other characters like portrait compositions.... restrained power.
Lemme just say: your description of Marius was so lovely! Whoever is cast, yeah, weâre going to need magnificent hair and weâre going to need to see him actually painting ;D
@sheepskeletonâs fanart (which is based on Michael Fassbender) is more Marius than Ralph Fiennes, for me, thoâŚ
[^X @sheepskeleton has a bunch of Marius pieces, this is one of my faves.]
Does Feinnes really paint? Thatâs pretty cool!Â
Feinnes is 54 and Marius was turned at 40. Movie/makeup magic could make him look younger, but I think weâd need a Marius who wouldnât age through the course of a TV series that could last for several years. Heâs going to be 60 in 6 years :P
^Idk when this gif is from but I gotta say, yes, heâs got this great fatherly quality and Roman enough features⌠but the age thing⌠*sigh*
[X] Iâm more into Michael Fassbender, 39 yrs old,
^or Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, 46 yrs old.
⌠or even better: someone new! Someone less expensive than all those dudes ;)
