finding him takes place in episode 4 (canon divergence version) where instead of finding the keybug or the papers from beneath the floor (or smt) uzi goes deeper into the building and finds him in some room as she was exploring,,

her original thought is obviously "damn bro thats a fucking trap." but then the pillbaby actually "activated"?? "came online"?? and it moved around a little and then noticed uzi was standing there. uzi was hesitant to get closer but upon inspecting the room and seeing no dangers around she got closer anyway and picked it up to which the pillbaby uhm did happy eyes

Summary: Echo wakes in a panic. Thankfully someone is there to soothe his racing thoughts.

Warnings: discussion of panic, brief mention of blood.

Based off of this post I really couldn’t help but write something for it.

Echo woke with a gasp, a gut punch, almost a garble. For a second he thought blood was in his throat, skin burning as flame licked him, a scream right on the edge of his tongue. Then the rumbling of a ship’s engine reminded him of where he was. The Marauder. Clone Force 99. Safe. But why didn’t he feel like it? With a grunt Echo pulled himself up, hammock swinging precariously while his lungs tried to pump air through him. The dreams wouldn’t leave him be no matter how hard he tried. Days of waking up near panic left him fatigued, wanting for sleep but rarely letting it take him. Echo swung his legs out of the hammock and dropped onto the floor. He grabbing the side of one of the bunks for balance and tried to steady his heartbeat. Everyone else should be asleep - Hunter, Wrecker, and Crosshair all dozing peacefully - but Echo needed something. What that something was he wasn’t sure but he had to get out of that hammock. He couldn’t go to the cockpit, not while Tech was on watch. Maybe he could switch with him, take over the night watch so he could stay awake. Anything to keep those images away. Anything to make the night pass by without his heart beating out of his chest.

“Gonna keep standing there or are you going to sit down before you topple over?” Without meaning to Echo flinched. Crosshair was awake - apparently - and was staring at him passively. He was sitting on a lower bunk, back against the wall with some sort of flimsi pad in his lap, a pencil held between his fingers. How did Echo not notice him?

Echo shook his head. “No, I’m-” He took a second to swallow the rough feeling in his throat but nearly choked on it. Crosshair’s eyes flickered away from him and to the book in his hand.

”Sit down before you break something. I won’t be peeling you off the floor when you pass out.” Crosshair said, voice low. Echo bristled at the insinuation but couldn’t quite argue. His head was starting to feel light and that tight ball of panic hadn’t lessened in his chest. After a few gulps of air Echo moved until he could sit on the edge of the bottom bunk, scooting back until he was mimicking Crosshair’s position, head tilted back against the wall.

Silence spread between them and Echo’s mind spun. Sitting was a bad idea. Nothing to distract him meant more racing thoughts and those thoughts meant more constriction in his lungs, and if he couldn’t breathe then what was he supposed to-

“Look,” Crosshair urged with a tap of his pencil on the page. Another instruction didn’t come, instead he waited while Echo blinked the stinging emotion out of his eyes and tilted his head until he could see what was being pointed out to him. On the page was the beginning stages of what looked like their ship. There were a few spots where it was clear Crosshair had to erase and redraw but the lines were strong and confident, details already littering the page. The entire drawing was about half way done but he wasn’t sure if Crosshair liked to do more than sketch. Crosshair used his pencil to trace along lines he’d already created, pointing out what he wanted. “It’s more cramped than I’d like it to be but I finally got the whole ship to fit on one page. See, there’s the window to the cockpit and the partial view of the gunner’s mount.” He put the lead to paper again and started adding some details to the wings. A few lines were added to detail the little dent on the wing facing them. Echo took in a deep breath in time with the pencil and let it out, feeling the ache in his gut lessen.

Echo pointed to the page with his scomp. “It looks good. Don’t forget to add the paint splatter from Wrecker’s mishap.” His voice came out scratchy, as if sandpaper was wrapped around his throat, but Crosshair paid it no mind. He hummed, adding the outline for the splatter, then moving on to shade in some of the underside. Echo watched and his fear drifted by. There was something hypnotizing about that pencil, the way it sounded as it scratched along the paper. The panic gave way to frustration and Echo had to wrap his arms around himself to attempt to soothe it away. He’d inserted himself without thinking enough about it and now he was intruding, already making suggestions, why couldn’t he just-

Crosshair let out a short laugh, shaking his head. “Your brain runs as much as your mouth, huh?” He asked. Rude. Echo rolled his eyes, looking away.

“I’m sorry. It was just…” The dreams. He should go back to bed. No, not back to bed. Going back to bed would be a bad idea. He should… he should leave Crosshair alone at least, do something else.

”No need to spill your guts.” Crosshair stretched, shifting until his leg was resting firmly against Echo’s. “Not yet, anyway.” Echo swallowed the lump that had formed in his throat and tried to focus on the constant pressure instead. Crosshair went back to drawing confident lines on the page, tipping the book towards Echo to ask about how it looked every so often. It was kind of odd, sitting in the dim light watching Crosshair draw a damn good sketch of their ship, but that feeling was less discomfort and more adjustment. He didn’t close his eyes again, not that night, but he considered it when fatigue yanked at his bones once more. He preferred to be up anyway, watching, whispering suggestions, anything to keep his thoughts from spiraling back to the darkness that lined them.

Crosshair did a good job of that.

BOBA AU - CHAPTER 1 EXTRAS

I had actually drawn a few more things than could fit within the 30-image-per-post limit. Here are the ones that didn't make the cut, with commentary!

Zilch's animal companions. I named Carmina Burana and Tortellini, Gucci and Bosch were named by my friends - though Bosch was supposed to be called Hieronymus, it just didn't fit on the nametag lol

I wanted to illustrate some examples of Zilch casually mistreating/neglecting the animals but this was as far as I got. I don't think he would be a full on animal abuser, just... the type of person who likes having a bunch of pets to show off but doesn't really think about properly caring for them. He likes the aesthetics of animals much more than the logistics.

This was gonna be the chapter cover and I forgot. Oops.

This was just practice drawing the church characters from their sprites.

Zilch: I must say, it's an unexpected pleasure to run into another kindred spirit around here. I'm Zilch~

This scene was actually cut deliberately. I drew it before I decided exactly what the Nun's issue with Zilch would be and then once I did, I felt like it didn't fit anymore. Zilch is still excited to see someone else with ears and tail like him, but in the final version, he's a lot more derisive about it.

I imagine the Nun is, like, an actual animal-human hybrid whereas Zilch is a furry with a wallet that can afford bioengineered bodymods. (One day, my friends... one day...)

Zilch being flippant and Halara being dismissive/tsundere. Couldn't really find a place to put it but I still like the drawing - even if I did accidentally give Zilch human ears.

By the way, you might notice Zilch hasn't been wearing his cap. There are two reasons. One is to show off that his ears aren't actually connected to it. If I had the time to go back and redraw the prologue with him wearing it - so Halara's "holy fuck" reaction makes more sense here - I would. (Not really worth trying to fix though, not until the rest of the story is done.)

But the other reason is that upon looking closer at Zilch's original design, I thought it was a little too evocative of Nazi imagery and wasn't really comfortable with it. It's not really the same style of hat, sure, but combined with the swastikas in his eyes??? yeah no way is that not intentional. (I redesigned his eye symbols to be catlike slit pupils instead.)

I get he (or, the hitman, I guess) is supposed to be a villain, and a minor one, in the original game... but here I'm gonna flesh him out a bit more. So I guess in that sense the removal of the hat symbolizes his growth as a character beyond his terrible awful fascist upbringing lol (more on that in the Gumshoe Gabs soon)

If I were making this an actual game it would be fun to have Yuma get a fun little added gameplay element of using Zilch's Forte like he does with Halara's. He gets some little animal friends!!!

I imagined Zilch would ask to be carried, but Halara won't do it without getting paid an exorbitant amount. And then Zilch forks over the cash on the spot. Yuma screams internally. If he had that the whole time why were they even trying to negotiate over the coat???!? Why does he still have his own debt to pay if Zilch could just cover the whole thing up front????

Halara has to pretend not to be enthusiastic about this opportunity.

And then the mystery is solved!

Zilch feels indebted to Halara for saving him from the Nail Man, and wants to follow their example, turn it around, treat his animals better... his act of goodwill here is extremely performative, though. But, hey, everyone's gotta start somewhere!

Ultimately I cut this scene after coming up with the cat bed idea. (Was very tempted to have Halara cruelly taking the coat from the boy, but just decided to skip it instead.)

So Zilch kinda idolizes Halara now... which is fine... but then the morning after he really lets his simp flag fly.

Congrats on your furry boyfriend, I guess?????

Whattup people who read my Batman posts! Brainrot's still rotting, I just had junk to do, so I didn't draw for a while! Anyhoodle, time for another character, Duke Thomas, a.k.a The Signal (and also Robin depending on how you're counting it!)

You know the drill by now, initial trace with my lazy backdrop! I liked drawing Duke, but BOY HOWDY HEY, he was hard. Like, I'm just gonna come out and say it, I am BAD at drawing armor and buildings and machines and anything non-organic. Which means Signal is probably one of the hardest costumes to get right. This was just the trace, so it wasn't too bad, but trying to understand how his costume worked was quite the game for this whole process. I will say, he's got one of my favorite color schemes out of any of the Batfamily. The light dark contrast works really well in a way that is only seen elsewhere on the Robin cape, and the fact that this is actually the Signal's whole costume makes it feel more cohesive and effective than that. And, you know, it's also really cool thematically, considering light is kinda Duke's whole thing.

Freehanded drawing with referenced trace! This was a ROUGH time. I had to redraw Duke three separate times before I got a result I was satisfied with.

So, remember how I said that I struggled to understand how his costume actually works? Yeah, that's because I have a decent grasp how armor is actually supposed to work, and this ain't it fellas. Like, not knocking the design, it looks cool and is certainly easier to draw once you get the hang of it, but it makes less intuitive sense to me. What is happening on his neck? Is that like pure metal molded to his skin or something? That's not how physics work. Why are his pauldrons not actually covering his shoulders, and also where and how exactly are the attached to anything? It was confusing, but definitely a good exercise for me.

Again, the stuff they did was actually pretty smart, since it's comic books and they don't have to move realistically, and this makes it easier to pose his head, chest, and shoulders. It was just difficult for me to wrap my head around. Ignoring all the physics defying stuff,

Signal probably has one of the smartest/most practical costumes of the Batfam too. For one, he actually has a helmet and protects his head. Two, he has armored all of his vital organs like his lungs and heart and stuff. Three, he doesn't have a cape, which means he can't be grabbed or snagged as easily, and doesn't have to fight working around that. This is sad for me though, because I love drawing capes : (

Pose for characterization. I'mma be straight with ya'll, I don't know much about Duke. Like, I've read all of the We Are Robin/Robin Wars comics, but that doesn't actually give me much of a handle on Duke as a person, or how he behaves because it has to split the focus between so many protagonists, and also because there's a bunch of other stuff happening, so Duke doesn't get as much focus as you'd suspect. I haven't read anything else where he appears (except for Wayne Family Adventures, but I don't think that counts).

The general vibe I got from We Are Robin and from other comic readers is that Duke is probably the most approachable member of the Batfamily. He wasn't raised as an assassin from birth, he hasn't been Robin since he was like 9, he didn't die and come back to life---his life experience, while far from normal, is still much closer to the average human being, so he can relate and react better. (The only other member who really gets close is Steph, but she's been around longer and has had time to get into more whacky life or death scenarios, so she's a bit nuttier. Duke'll get there in time, I'm sure).

I tried to convey this approachability by giving him an open expression and more relaxed body language, even though he is a pretty mistrusting and high strung person. Comes with the territory of being a vigilante I guess.

As always, the text for his hero name is traced off a comics cover. To indicate the duality of Duke being both a pretty chill kid and also absolutely insane, I felt the need to put his civilian name in two fonts. I also tried to make his civvies call back to his We Are Robin uniform without being an exact one to one. I'm positive that Duke'll take any excuse to wear Robin colors, even after the ban was lifted, just because it pisses off the cops.

Can you guys guess who comes next based off the order so far? (You won't, it only makes sense to me).

hi hello i bring a redraw/redesign of an au design from back in 2022 that i posted on my main blog back then since i didn’t have this one. you’ll notice you cannot find this on my main blog and that is because i ended up deleting all my danny phantom posts. the reason for this is that i ended up writing a fic for this au and somebody with a horrifying amount of p*mp p*p explicit fanfiction commented on the fic and i was too afraid to do anything but fucking purge my presence from the phandom because it scared me so bad. i recently reread the google doc i still have and that fic sucked ass anyways (i was not good at characterization) but i might end up reuploading it for archival reasons later who knows

anyways this is dash. he is a werewolf. and he is just a silly little guyyy going through a silly little redemption arc

Just wanted to mention this to someone who does art and get their opinion on it:

Sometimes I see some artists do redraws of their old artworks or characters and think "Wow, uh... their older art looks better." Sometimes it's only mildly better, but other times it's vastly better. Like the Upgrade, Go Back! meme.

I understand that art skills are supposed to develop and change, hopefully for the better, but sometimes it just feels like they got... worse? Somehow? Idk. Maybe it's because they were copying another artist's style while finding their own, and it's their own style that doesn't vibe with me? Just curious what your thoughts are about this.

Also, your art has consistently been great, so this isn't directed at you.

I do see this on occasion yeah! usually (in my experience anyway) its because people take a sharp turn towards a stylization that either isn't to your or most people's tastes, or that they don't understand or are still developing. switching up how you stylize your art is like starting over in a sense, you're changing from what you have practice with and that's always going to cause you to revert some as you have to re-learn things you understood in your previous style. i had a pretty big style shift in 2014 when i took up the basis for how my art looks now, and i remember feeling like some of the stuff i was drawing might have looked better if i was using my older style instead. that's something artists just have to push through and figure out, and they'll likely come out of it a better artist than they were before. constructive critiques are a good way for them to figure out why their art might not be as "good" as it used to be, if they're open for those.

art is not always a linear journey, and i would also say things like passion and motivation have a part in it too. feeling inspired sparks you to make something the best it can be, if you're not feeling it (and esp if that feeling lasts for a long time) it'll leave you making decisions you otherwise would not have let fly, and that can result in worse art. and some of it is just personal preference! it's not that their art is better or worse, it's just different now, and maybe that doesn't vibe with you the same way their old stuff did. and that's fine 👍

Redraw the art that is already a little over 7 years old. (2017 ---> 2020 ---> 2024)

A little about the old art and about 2017-2020.

Initially, according to the idea, Hollyleaf was supposed to be here, because, as it seemed to me at that time, it was much easier to draw her, and she was a character that was i liked.

Now, I can't even remember why Hollyleaf eventually became Dovewing. Doubly strange, since at that time Dovewing was a character that I didn't like.

Then there was supposed to be a Starclan Spirit nearby, who would hold the cat by the paw (there (art from 2017), you can even see the line left from the paw). But apparently, I did not have enough skills for such an idea.

Then, some genius was found who took my 2017 sketch and colored it to match his character. I was shocked when I was little.

Already in 2020, I remember that my crooked and slanted redraw with Dovewing got into one of the large wc groups. To say that I was shocked is to say nothing..

Now, let's go back to 2024. I changed the pose a lot. Why? I don't like the previous one. This levitating cat makes me nervous, I understand that in the end, this is more new art than redraw. But.. what can I do? Honestly, the flying Dovewing made me nervous.

Now, about my current attitude towards Dovewing. Now Dovewing has risen in my eyes in the new cycles, she is trying to be a good mother, she went to another tribe for her beloved. I have no complaints about her (although I'm lying, in the book "Squirrelflight Hope. " Dovewing said something that made me very angry. I don't remember). There is no anger or disgust towards her, but there is no love or sympathy either. I don't think I would have been able to find a common language with this cat if my cat version had been there.

Hi Alcibiade! 💖 Thank you so much for your kind reply about the Touhou and Danganronpa crossover! I wasn't sure if I should reblog it again, but it got too long, so I'd like to post the answer to it as a new ask.

First of all, I really like the details of the Reimu you finished! You mentioned my draft looks clean, but I’d like to make some overall adjustments when I have more time, as I’d love to match the art style a bit more with yours.

Also, I'm glad you liked Ran's comments! (ㅅ´ ˘ `)♡ Unlike Mamizou and Aya, Ran wasn't a character I originally intended to feature in the story. After seeing your Reimu, I got the idea to make it a Chinchirorin game scene, and then added the idea that it would be fun to have Ran talk about probability. The reason I chose Ran is because she does calculations for various things and is great at math. While the probabilities indicate that getting Pinzoro is extremely rare, I intentionally had her insist that it wasn’t that rare, because I thought that kind of bold attitude felt very fitting for Touhou girls.

By the way, I love how the characters in Touhou come up with strange calculations for some reason.😄 For example, Alice says, “Your power is only twenty-eight-point-five-seven-one-four percent as powerful as mine.” when she meets Reimu in TH7, and even Eirin, who is supposed to be incredibly smart, says, “All the scarlet history that you've built up---Divided by my history, the result is zero.” when she meets Remilia in TH8. I find it hilarious how Touhou girls use mysterious methods of calculation and then confidently declare, “I’m stronger than you.” lol So I am glad I was able to come up with the idea of having Ran explain probability. (It is really thanks to you!)

OMG, this is a great idea! 🤩 I see no reason not to draw this scene. In my mind, I imagine more characters will be at this banquet than what I’ve drawn so far, especially the Three Fairies (Sunny Milk, Luna Child, and Star Sapphire), who I assume will definitely be there. So, I came up with two ideas:

In the official manga, the Three Fairies have pranked Reimu several times by planting bombs at the Hakurei Shrine (most of those cruel pranks are done by Star Sapphire 😅). So this time, they plant a bomb at the banquet, and Nagito accidentally detonates it or gets caught in the explosion.

Marisa plans to set off a big firework at the end of the banquet, and the firepower is so strong that it goes off, and both Nagito and Hajime get caught in it. Actually, an item called “Four-Foot Magic Bomb” appears in TH14.3. It’s depicted with a big white ribbon and a star, also the name “Magic Bomb” suggests that Marisa probably made it. It looks like a firework in both its icon and appearance in the game, so I suspect it’s a firework with too much firepower made by Marisa.

I think getting caught in a firework might be cuter than a normal bomb, so it might be better. Anyway, if bad luck happens, I hope something explodes. Why? Because it’s Nagito. lol (Well, he’s more like the person who causes explosions anyway).

It’s probably too early to talk about another story before we’ve finished anything completely, but since you said the draft I sent you was already clean enough, I’d like to keep it roughly as it is and just make a few adjustments, add details, and color it. After that, we can work on something similar. (I imagine we could send what we come up with, even in parts, and create a few short comics.)

Of course, there’s no deadline, and as you know, I have many parallel projects in progress, so it’s totally fine if it takes you a while to reply—or if you don’t reply at all! (Even if you did not respond to this request at the time, I will post it with a mention of you when I finish the comic 😃).

If you want to, I can also redraw my Reimu to match your panels more ^-^ And I agree that Ran's bold attitude is very fitting! I love those comments 🥰I don't know those characters as well as you do, but when you explain it, I'm always impressed to see that what you do is always really on-point. But I think that my favorite strange calculation is Eirin's. What does that even mean? 😭 The attitude of touhou girls is something that I love about these games. I have a lot of fun when I play them, and I like to see the characters having fun too >v<

I'm glad to see that you liked my idea! I love both of the ideas you wrote, and I totally believe that something should explode because of Nagito 😅😂 but when I saw your ideas something came up to my mind: why can't we mix the two of them?

I know that it can appear as a weird idea, and we can only keep the firework one if you want, but I imagined that Nagito and Hajime would discover the evil plan of the three fairies who planted a bomb at the banquet. Together, they would try to stop it and get in a fight with the fairies. And in secret, Marisa planned to set off her big firework to surprise everybody, but during their fight, Nagito and the fairies activate it and they all get caught in an explosion while still trying to prevent another one 😭 I made a draft about it for you to see what I imagined, but I can still redraw it, change the ratio of the picture or anything if needed!

And of course, if you want me to do anything for the other comic, please don't hesitate to ask me about it! I did this for @femstarsweek but I don't know if it will be accepted due to how late it is... It was meant to be for Day 5's prompt "Tragic yuri".

It's a redraw of Nito and Mademoiselle as an illustration of Nanako and la Poupée from Oniisama e by Ikeda Riyoko-sensei, (which, if you ask me, is the tragic yuri).

I tried imitating Ikeda-sensei's art style, and when I got to the coloring I had a lot of trouble and got frustrated, therefore I ended up not finishing on time OTL. In the end I just used my regular painting style; I'll have to keep trying another time.

Ah, also the flower on her hand is supposed to be a lily because #yuri :p but I'm not too good at drawing flowers TT it's such a mess but whatever.

I was really really bad at drawing guys and was much better at drawing girls (not that that was very good either). Paintbrush being an entirely different thing made me nervous that I was going to make them too masculine or too feminine. I remember being SO proud of myself... And like this one isn't terrible... But why are they wearing ice skates- (they're not supposed to be ice skates but that is NOT lined up)

Not terrible. I think that this still gives Blueberry vibes it's mainly the shoes that are bugging me. But other than that it's not BAD.

I had this headcannon that one of the cherries was trans which is why they never spoke because they were self-conscious of their voice. Not the worst head Cannon but I just can't see it anymore. These outfits also just suck. And the return of the ice skates-

This is season 1 Taco specifically and the idea was upon show to hide the hands while having her fancy spy outfit underneath. With the little that you can see of the spy outfit it sucks. The top doesn't look super bad I guess. I also gave her little fangs that I decided to make gray for some reason so they blended into her skin.

I remember this one was my absolute FAVORITE like I thought this was peak character design. It's not that good but at the very least it's definitely the most okay one here... Except for the fact that APPLE'S KNEES ARE LIKE 5/8 DOWN HER LEG- WHO BROKE YOUR LEG?!? Also are those green jeans? Also return of the ice skates.

This one isn't THAT bad, it's just...the nose. The idea of her having a backpack to carry stuff is still cute. And-... Are those. Ice. Skates. (Inhale) AAAAAAAAÆ---

Burn it with fire. I didn't even like this one when I first drew it! I always had plans of redrawing it but I never did. In case you need clarification this is Balloon... In my slight justification for why he's wearing... that. I was originally going to give all of the returning season 3 contestants vacation clothes because they thought they were going on a vacation but I didn't really do this with any of the others so it just looks out of place and ugly.

I saw an ad around the time I drew this that showed a child missing their upper lip. I thought that that would be an interesting design choice for Lifering to to represent the hole in his face. I was correct that it's interesting. It being a good design choice before this art style is a different topic- still like the earring I gave him though.

I hate those fingers. They're so small. I hate it. I remember this was my favorite outfit, and now I don't like it that much. But I guess it's not THAT bad. It's still kinda bad.

This is Marshmallow. I needed to lead with that otherwise you wouldn't know who this is. This is straight up isn't marshmallow. That is some random girl that should not be trusted with hair dye.

This one is just...okay. at least compared to the other ones on this list. It's not the worst. It's DEFINITELY not the best. His hair is... Something. Also the return of the ice skates

This one is honestly just funny to me now. Yin just looks done (I feel you buddy) I really played around with a vitiligo (the reason why they have both pale and dark skin; look it up) and I do like the concept I had of this I just don't think I have the skills at the time to properly pull it off.

So, everyone, I got a story about this picture right here. I will include some pics from the process and there's even a moral at the end.

So the client approached me about it, I sketched it out, standard affair. It was supposed to be a gif image and I imagined her moving side to side while her sword glowed.

Mistake number one I did not plan out the side to side movements. This was the only rough I did before I started rendering it.

"Wow this is going to be so cool" I thought.

"This is going to be a piece of cake"

I wanted to animate it on Clip Studio Paint EX that I got this year specifically so I could do animation there.

I ended up drawing all the assets and I was happy with them. Side note, in pixelated animation it is better to use as little colors as possible, and I ended up having a lot more than 256 colors with the colored lineart here n stuff. That was my mistake number two. I really need to work on that.

I warmed my hands as the program was opening, ready to do some animation, only to come across a very unexpected problem.

In the end I have made a reddit post describing it, but you can basically see the results of it in this test animation

I spent an entire freaking day trying to figure out what to do with the blurring. It seems that it functions as intended, but it would be really nice if CSP didn't do this. I had to go back to photoshop to do the actual animation.

... I couldn't quite do the diagonal movement I wanted. Right, so I settled on this.

I drew like 3 movement frames for the white and blue cape and ended up not using it because it looked awful. And the sleeve movement is so wrong.

This is why you test these things, guys! In sketch phase!

So I made these static gifs, thinking this is probably over now and I did a good job.

Nope. Not even close.

My big brain missed one crucial detail in the initial sketching phase...

IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A BIG BEEFY GLOWING SWORD!

To be fair the initial glow was cool, the client didn't realize what I've been drawing. So we both missed it. Okay, fine. I decided to just redraw the glow, thankfully it didn't take long at all.

... Right we got another problem. How do I animate a sudden burst of energy coming from the sword?

... Oh no.

My head drew a blank.

I felt... I felt... Like a failure. I failed the client. I thought I could do this but it's not right.

I decided to slap a glowing effect and hide the burst under a white screen.

I couldn't imagine anything better.

Despair, utter despair.

In the end the version that looked the best was this one.

Feeling horrible, I decided to make a free quickie for the client to make up for my failures.

I poured my disappointment with myself and my ability to come up with cool animation into this little tiny owl that did nothing wrong. I gave her the most adorable but angry stare I could muster.

She's angry because she's short

The client assured me that my work was fully acceptable from start to finish and that it's all great. That I shouldn't beat myself up.

But I usually get it all from the very beginning, you see. I typically don't do too much revisions. This kind of situation is not common. I wasn't able to see my clients needs and make the kind of gif that was needed from the beginning.

And I've been tipped extra for this picture too.

It's like the money I got was not quite worth the gif I ended up with.

I suppose it covered the extra useless work I did drawing the assets, but... I feel guilty, like I ripped off the client.

If I just needed to draw the static gif with some glow I could've made it cheaper.

Perhaps I undervalue myself and it costs more than I charged for it.

I don't know.

The moral of the story is DO TEST ANIMATIONS IN SKETCH PHASE. ALWAYS. FOR EVERYTHING.

I swear I got it the first time, why make this mistake so many years later? smh...

Day 21: Rival

Keen readers may have known that in the old bios of Meet the Cast, Bandana Dee and Robobot Armor consider each other friendly rivals. But their rivalry used to be a bit more hostile, which reeks its ugly head at some point in the war...

At least, they get along very well nowadays, and once Robobot Armor got their body back it was friendly rivalry to the max. They both DEFINITELY attempt to beat the crap out of each other in the name of training. I bet they tie a lot.

Day 22: Ship/Hangout

I probably have never mentioned this, but every Valentines Day, Ribbon discreetly sends Kirby Valentines Day's Chocolate, with the vice versa happening on White Day. But of course, the two didn't want anyone to know about this *ahem* chocolate exchange. So the result is... they both had to sneak to make a beeline to the post office to give/receive their gift. It's like a spy movie except it's mundane as hell. But hey... since everyone CAN see how hard they are crushing about each other... I don't think this is necessary...

...they still do it discreetly tho. NOOOOOOO.

Day 23: Wish

Ah, Marx.

Poor guy.

So, regarding the NME - they love targeting those who feel weak to join them in hopes of, well, making use of them. Noddies are certainly included (I follow game canon for these f^ckers) and Marx's family are... uh...

A powerhungry scientist who experimented himself with Scarfy blood and a rich woman who supplies Nightmare with her funds are certainly, uhm, a freaking problem. Marx was made into a guinea pig who knows nothing but whatever propaganda his family feeds him regarding Nightmare and how they want Marx to impress or even surpass him. This is what led to events of Milky Way Wishes.

Fortunately, Marx's in a better place now...

...alive, you idiots! I didn't kill him! He's now owner of a prank shop in Dreamland!

Day 24: Another Dimension

Halcandrans aren't necessary native from Halcandra. They are just named Halcandrans because... they all live there. Apparently they were scattered throughout Halcandra somewhen after the big war between them and the Jambastians.

By the way, did you know Magolor isn't fully evil in this AU initially - a series of misunderstandings and curses led to the tricky scenario that is Return to Dreamland, but that's a story for another day...

Day 25: Epilogue

A drawing based on this doodle page and this part of the story. Yes, this is kinda a redraw? Look, I had to whip this very quickly, I got tired...

But hey... they are happy... at least... reunited, but at what cost...?

Day 26: Moon

Kabuki ability, eh. We did give lore regarding this ability in two entries of last year's Kirbtober, but I suppose some additions are worth throwing in.

So, when I said it was the GSA dividing the power into scrolls... it was the Moon Warriors. Wait, so what are Star Warriors then? Well, in this AU Star Warriors are not magical or anything, in fact there are Sun and Moon Warriors, but perhaps that part of the GSA's a discussion for another day... so let's just know that the Moon Warriors are a different division from the Star Warriors.

I suppose it makes sense for the Kabuki ability to be associated with the moon outside this information in mind as well - Hypernova has the sun, Technician has the star (which makes it technically the leftover), so...

Day 27: Control

This is not a real in-universe PSA, but I'm very sure the team is tired as sh^t regarding brainwashing stuff, especially when some of their allies are PRIME brainwashing material (LOOKING AT YOU, DEDEDE). And within the team itself, 2 of them got possessed before and one got their body yoinked to do things they wouldn't do once. So uh. Safe to say they HATE this.

Idk. Decided to add more to this. I do draw Green with headphones. But then I added a green bandanna (yes it is supposed to be a bandanna around their neck) and some kind of braclet with music notes (i kinda wanted to make something cool like how the music notes were the same color as the other stickfigures but eh... One of those colors isn't right so... Yeah)

Last time I drew them that was Stickronpa related was that I used alot of minecraft stuff in it. So... I tried to not do that. As in add in a bunch of crazy stuff. Just drew the simple colored music notes. Idk. Ahh this makes no sense XD.

TWSTOber 2024: Day 2-Decay

Emotions and art go hand-in-hand.

Ambrosia knows this all too well. Ever since she was younger, she wanted to find a way to express her emotions. She was drawn to the world of art by the many paintings her family bought and adorned the castle with. She admired the way colors and simple strokes can display a wide range of emotions in people. So she learned how to draw. But due to her future responsibilities, she only got to do it recreationally and to herself.

When she got sent to Night Raven College, there was more time to work on her art. That’s when she found out there was an art club and joined it. She mostly did sketches of whatever she was looking at or thinking of, like any of her dorm mates or flowers. Sometimes, she adds a bit more detail on drawings depending on her mood.

“That’s pretty dark, Ambrosia.” The white haired girl looked up to see one of her club members looking at her. They were in the club room; everyone was working on their own art as a project to share with the group next week. She must’ve zoned out working when this person was talking to her. She looked down back at her own drawing. It was a flower, but it was alone in a field and decaying; its stem wilting and all but one petal still holding on.

“I suppose so.” she answers, looking back up at the student.

“I’m used to seeing your stuff a little bit on the lighter side.” he observes. Little bit too much in her business, in her opinion. “Why go with this one?”

“It’s actually a redraw of something I did before.” she explains, idling shading the flower. “It was one of the first sketches I made when I got my sketchbook. I wasn’t exactly happy about my circumstance and made the sketch. I saw it a couple of days ago and got inspired to redraw it for the project.”

“How very morbid!” the club member sighs. She should’ve expected that reaction from someone who came from Pomefiore. Always so dramatic. “All I did was a vase we had at the dorm, but you took the flower art to another level. I’m looking forward to your presentation.”

“Thank you.” she says politely before going back to her drawing. Despite how she was feeling at the time, she can see how beautiful it looks now.
