random thoughts about how toya’s excitement feels so lively and pure. i love how much i can feel his happiness from just the way he talks and his facial expressions

let’s take his new year’s side story as a little example, where he successfully did a kendama trick for the first time

i love how my first thought was “HE'S SO HAPPY” when i read this story. the subtle excited tremors in his voice and throat with each syllable... the rising pitch when he finally acknowledges it... the emotions portrayed of that first time disbelief when he said できた… (no exclaimation) all the way to when he really saw that he did it with his own eyes できたぞ！the addition of ぞ adds weight into his excitement.

anyways i don't know if you can hear it but the excited tremors in his voice... (that usually only happens when we are EXTREMELY excited and full of adrenaline) it adds so much realism... its not something that can be done on command easily... it breathes so much life into toya's purehearted innocence at even the smallest things.

a good way to describe it: sort of like in english, when we get really excited and go "oh↓ my→ god↑↑", the subtle vocal tremors in the vowel sounds as your pitch rises, the emphasis on the ending consonant sounds. it is exactly that but in japanese. for toya its especially obvious in the "te ga furuteiru" line. you can really hear the vocal tremors and a bit of slurring for the both hard and soft syllables.

this has been in my drafts for monthsss about time it gets posted lol. been thinking of a doomed ventrue ningrat prince who's basically a dead woman walking– doubly so, yes. holding out for the last few camarilla turfs in a sabbat-dominated region.

she's looked the same for years and years the kine in her domain have known her. some say it's genes, some say she's just the daughter who bares uncanny similarities to her mother– and her mother's mother, though the woman herself never speaks about it. sometimes some bargain shaman would claim that she stays looking young and long lived thanks to them as a marketing tactic (p.s.– the lasombra shamans are the ones who seem to best know what they're doing. get them instead if you need anything). generations of them would remember and forget about nyi raden tumenggung tirtaningsih, and all sorts of stories and hearsay spring back up, nothing original. but the kindred of jogja would know that prince tirta is on her last breath trying to uphold camarilla rule in the province with the sabbat coming out of the woodworks (fleshworks for some), back to regain their stronghold.

but a lady doesn't display peril! she must always look presentable. after all, how good is a woman at doing anything if she doesn't look picture perfect at all times?
