Upon reflecting this past year, I’m reminded of one area as a fandom citizen that i am lacking - reading fic. And so was born an idea to canvas my fandom family and friends to share with me a fic they've written, art they've created, a podfic they've recorded in 2023 of which they are most proud.

This two part 'rec yourself' list is the result.

Part One features Drarry creations (heavily featured since that's my OTP). Part Two (here) includes a kick-ass mix of various HP ships and ships from other fandoms, including Carry On, Check Please!, Good Omens, Teen Wolf, and Stranger Things. Also, and most importantly, each entry presents a smol blurb from the creator about why they chose their particular piece as their 2023 favorite.

My mind went full "oh yeah ronvik " Also, I like the idea of them bonding over their pets and Ron seeing that Viktor cares about something else that is not Quidditch.

✩ @tontonguetonks ✩ Coffee and a Croissant HP Next Gen | Scorpius x Albus | 903 FIC | G rating There are parts of myself and my lived experience in every story and character I write—how I socialize, how I take my coffee… I can’t help it. In *Coffee and a Croissant*, I put a lot of myself in my ace and autistic Albus. He is very dear to me in this story, and in my Fizzy Lifting Drinks drabble. The fic is just a toe-dip in the Soulmate waters where Albus grapples with what to do if he is someone’s Soulmate, but they’re not his. Parts 2 and 3 are in the works, but there is no timeline on either of them. Maybe in 2024?

✩ @crazybutgood ✩ I Bloom Pink For You HP | Narcissa Malfoy x Pansy Parkinson | 993 FIC + ORIGAMI COMIC | M rating | HP Bodice Ripper Fest 2023 This whole idea came about because I got so excited to fold a corset for hp bodice ripper fest, realised I couldn't just submit that one thing, and started brainstorming more loose ideas. It all clicked together when I was inspired by a fic by @schmem14, whose writing I adore. I was so grateful and even more excited when Em gave permission to make this. From there started the self-indulgent process of folding fancy things with fancier papers for this origami comic, and I couldn't have done it without Em and my lovely support team.

✩ @seekercass ✩ Something Cosmic HP | Cedric x Draco x Harry | 1.7k FIC | M rating | Polyship Week 2022 A self-rec that I am still extremely proud of is a short fic written for Polyshipping Week 2022 called Something Cosmic. It's a small coda to Something Good to Always Keep, another fic that I wrote for Quidditch Fest 2021 that I cherish very much. Even though writing is still hard for me these days, I often think about this 'verse and what life is like for Harry, Draco and Cedric after they graduated from Oxford. These three and slice of life bring me such joy. I hope to write more of them.

✩ @basicallyahedgehog ✩ (They) Keep Me Warm HP | Hermione x Harry x Ron | 5.8k FIC | E rating | HP Trans Fest 2023 This was my transfest fic - I wrote it as a love letter to all my trans and Enby friends and as a way of processing some of my own feelings. It’s my first (and so far only) foray into poly golden trio and I loved playing with their dynamics with that added layer to their relationship.

✩ @lumosatnight ✩ For I Have Found Salvation HP | Harry x Severus | 7.1k FIC | E rating | Snarry AUctoberfest 2023 Although this is a smut fic at its core, I tried really hard to make the pacing flow, bringing in background characters, and creating memorable imagery. I am very proud of how it turned out. However, this is probably my favorite fic from 2023 simply for the fact that I had the most fun writing it!

✩ @sugareey-makes-stuff ✩ Feel You Breathing Teen Wolf | Derek Hale x Stiles Stilinski | 8.4k TEXTING FIC | E rating | 2023 Year of the OTP This is my fav 2023 piece because I learned how to create a custom text message AO3 skin, stylize things for plain text reading, and I wrote a whole story  that had some plot that was told through text messages. Also, I did not know I could achieve so much spiciness and throw in so many bad pick-up lines through this medium, but hey, the more you know! XD

Possessive stalker Draco sets out to win over Ron in this creepy thriller, but there’s a catch: Ron is already in love with Draco’s boyfriend, Harry.

✩ @sniperjade ✩ The Sounds of Us HP Marauders | Regulus x Remus | 20.4k FIC | M rating | Remus Lupin Fest 2023; HPFC Spring Fling 2023 I've been thinking about this for a couple of days and whilst I would really love to say it was the drarry I wrote for this fest last year my favourite would have to be this moonseeker I wrote for Remus Lupin Fest last year. It's my favourite because I lived this fic. It became the entirety of my personality for a whole month because I desperately needed to get to the chapter where Regulus was riding on Padfoots back, through the forbidden forest, with only the light of the full moon to guide them, just to try and help Remus. It's also just because it's very musical and I'm very musical so that makes me love it all the more.

I started writing it more than 1 1/2 years ago, before I ever read a single Regulus fic. It's triad fic, and I'm pretty proud of the way the individual relationships develop. That was important to me, and I think I succeeded. Posting the first fic on ao3 with this triad tag doesn't hurt either.

✩ @celilasart & @wolfspurr ✩ Shifted Teen Wolf | Derek Hale x Stiles Stilinski | 25k FIC + ART | T rating | Sterek Reverse Bang This work was created for sterek reverse bang, a collaboration fest where the artists create first and the writers write second. wolfspurr and I just clicked when we talked about my art and the things that it inspired in their writer brain ;D the result is just an amazingly sweet and wholesome fic, that is still set in the teenwolf universe as we know it. but unlike many other fics which are full of violence and danger, this one starts with a bang and then it is a beautifully woven story of two people who just complete each other. also... the working title for my art was: tiny fox & sour wolf.

✩ @orange-peony ✩ At the speed of light Carry On | Basilton Pitch x Simon Snow | 26.3k FIC | E rating I picked [this fic] because I had a lot of fun writing it! It started off as a drabble and ended up 26k because I just had a blast writing it and the fandom support was so lovely. Last but not least, Pato made an absolutely stunning art piece for this fic, and it was the best present ever.

✩ @wynnyfryd ✩ i don’t know, you figure it out Stranger Things | Steve Harrington x Eddie Munson | 35.4k WIP FIC | E rating bragging about yourself is difficult, but i’ll just say it’s my favorite because i’m proud of myself for sticking to one project for this long, i love all the artwork the fic has inspired, and i just think the line “the river styx must taste like pennies” fucks severely lmao.

✩ @decaflondonfog ✩ growing pains Check Please! | Eric Bittle x Kent Parson | 50k FIC | T rating i am not usually a long fic gal, which i think is in part lack of patience, but also how attached i get to a universe if i’m working on it for a longer period of time. i finished writing this back in june but this fic felt very “me” in many ways and i think about them so often still  so it’s definitely my 2023 creation i’m proudest of!

🎧🎼 | Mikasa and the Titans:

They all really like music—blasting it through the open windows of their cars and singing along horribly, karaokeing together on late weekend nights. Whenever they’re bored they’ll make music together in Eren’s garage for hours on end. In high school, Eren poses the idea of recording and posting covers on youtube for fun.

They upload under the name “E.M.A_covers” and it’s mostly just to show friends and family (Carla really likes to see them—never misses an upload).

One day they post a cover of “Everybody’s Fool” by Evanescence and it gains a bit more traction than their usual couple hundred views—reaching over 1,000 in under 24 hours.

Throughout the week, their numbers continue to grow until they soon reach 50k+ views.

Armin has the idea of starting an official band with original songs together.

It takes them a while to come up with a name for the band, playing around many different ideas until Armin gets frustrated.

He suggests they just stick with “EMA”.

Mikasa says it’s too boring, “What about ‘The Three Soldiers’?”

After Armin insists on making a chart of all the name possibilities, they eventually collectively frankenstein a few of the options together and get “Mikasa and the Titans”. It’s inspired by a dream Eren once had that they reference a lot in jokes.

Armin’s writing skill lands him a job as their designated lyricist. Mikasa and Eren occasionally pitch in with their own ideas and verses as well though.

Mikasa is on mic and guitar, Eren on drums, and Armin on keys.

Eren is initially very insecure about their lack of a bassist and tries to get their classmate Connie to play drums while he takes up bass, but it doesn’t work out. Connie lied about knowing how to play (he really didn't think it'd be that hard to figure out).

Armin makes up for the lack of bass by playing bass lines on the keys when necessary.

Their music definitely has a heavy indie and alternative rock/metal influence, but hey love to experiment with many different styles.

They’re pretty small but they quickly develop a very tight-knit, hardcore community through youtube. Eventually Armin figures out how to put their stuff on Spotify too.

By their second year of college, they have a few dozen thousand monthly listeners on Spotify. They do shows in their local area whenever they’re free, (which isn’t often because Armin is very committed to his studies and does not like to take breaks) and start a little merch store. Their university even hires them play at events from time to time.

They're a huge hit in their community and virtually everyone in the town knows who they are.

As a group, EMA are extremely close with one another. They do almost everything together and use "band meetings" as an excuse just to hang out. Playing together feels like being on cloud nine and they wouldn't have it any other way.

moonstruck: track one starting it off SO strong. this darker rnb suits enha SO much it's so atmospheric and intimate i love the melody during the chorus it's so melancholic and you can hear the desperation ugh definitely will abuse the replay button and write pics based off this song

highway 1009: now THIS is giving proper end of movie soundtrack haha can imagine a monologue at the end of a n anime movie about coming of age hehe i LOVE the guitar awww the song itself is so cute as well

overall: 8.8/10 it's nothing groundbreaking in terms of sound, but it's done amazingly!! i love how the entire album carries that boy-in-love feel in each of its track :( deffo a comfort album especially with how highway 1009 finishes it off if we're not counting XO's eng version! fav songs are moonstruck, hundred broken hearts and brought the heat back!! not as an in-depth review as usual, going off on vibes mostly

Vox is ahead of Alastor in terms of effective in-the-moment conflict resolution, but goddamn if he isn't fucked up in his own fun little ways. They're so not done with most of these issues, but at least they're on they're way to maybe be able to have a real conversation about them!

As a sucker for medical gore and aroace angst, I lack the words to express my love and appreciation for your most recent installment of 666, but your writing of radiostatic's dynamic was captivating and proved to be such a lovely read as always! I loved that you touched on Alastor's relationships with the women around him as that has always been such an interesting aspect of his character to me! I never really put much thought into how Vox's apparent avoidance of Alastor in the show could mirror Alastor's disappearance, and now it will Not leave my mind. My heart hurts for these two dorks, super looking forward to chapter 2!

"Medical gore and aroace angst" should be the title of my memoir. Honestly, this series has ended up a lot more edgy-bloody than I expected it to, since I usually tend to prefer to portray my whump/angst/violence/etc in a much more roundabout way, but it's actually kinda tipped over into, like... part of the point is how banal it is, how beside the point. The upsetting heavy-hitting bits aren't the blood, they're everything else that goes on around it. Anyway, thank you so much! <3 I think your heart will find some relief in chapter two, haha, I hope you enjoy!!

Meanwhile alastor, completely convinced that there’s no situation where vox actually loves him and is happy with the way things are—either vox wants more and is going to start asking for more, or he doesn’t actually love him and just wants to have sex with him and thus either way he is a Liar. They’re so fucking bad at this. No one is capable of being the adult here. I think they need an auspitice.

It's really funny that you said that, because that is kind of exactly the role that [spoiler] ends up playing, though in a more roundabout way, hahaha. They certainly need someone to, like, get them to be having the same conversation with each other instead of two parallel ones. I think the fun thing about writing Alastor reacting to his own feelings is just how much his reaction can change based on how things are framed for him, and it leaves a lot of wiggle room for how differently I've ended up writing him reacting to the season 1 finale in 666 vs in Happily Ever After, and Other Shit Nepotism Can't Buy.

But, god, you really nailed the description of what Alastor is feeling. <3

Vox in the latest 666, my ENTIRE HEART. Literally nothing about how he read the situation was a bad take or a leap to conclusions, but alastor constantly says the opposite of what he means and refuses to admit vulnerability or friendship and what the hell else was vox meant to do with that, of course he backed off, they need to have this talk so badly

YES, PRECISELY! Like, I hope it came through that really neither of them was completely crazy to react the way they did! It's a result of how much of their communication has been nonverbal, implied, and talking around things - they'd been doing so well up until this point, but there's only so far that can take you before you start thinking that you're on the same page when really you're reading two completely different books! Thank you sm! <3

Probably one of my favorite lines to write, ehehehe. THANK YOU ANONNNN <3 It's kinda interesting to see how differently some people read this. Some folks thought Alastor was saying it to hurt Vox (which is how Vox read it). Some folks thought it was true (how Alastor intended it). Some folks thought Alastor was trying to fit into the mold that he thought Vox wanted from him (how I intended it). All of them make sense as readings! >:)

YAY thank you for asking! Here's some misc headcanons, mostly about the main three :) Too tired to get into lore right now, but these still probably apply to the Laruta-verse

Mipha read a lot of fantasy growing up (PROJECTION) but Sidon got really into sci-fi and she got into it as a result. I think she would really like The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (and as a sort of introduction to that surreal sort of comedy... I think she would be giggling out loud reading it and as a result develop a slightly indecipherable sense of humour for a 13-year-old (possibly? I haven't been a 13-year-old in ages so I'm a little out of touch lol)) and she would start carrying a towel around in her bag as a nod to that. It would come in useful one time and she would be unbelievably happy about it.

Zelda is the type to cycle through take up a lot of extracurriculars and electives - and then drop them when she can't get anything more out of them. A lot of people think it's because she's indecisive but she just really likes learning and trying new things. This makes her the school admin's worst nightmare!

Zelda and Link have an art class together - Link reads a lot of comics and likes trying to cartoonify things, and Zelda goes as realistic as she possibly can. They're both perfectionists who abuse their eraser privileges. Each of them admire each other's work, though, and they try and make it a priority to work side-by-side on projects.

Dorephan is a language teacher (teaching the Zora language, I don't think it has a name in the games 😬). He speaks some at home with Mipha and Sidon, but Mipha and Sidon aren't exactly fluent becuase they speak more Hylian and regular conversation. They do, however, have enough practice to get a little ahead in classes 😋

Zelda likes paleontology, Link likes history, and Mipha likes biology, so they go on museum trips together (longstanding Link and Mipha tradition but Zelda fits right in). They go completely ham on the interactive expeditions and Mipha gets sucked into the gift shops and ends up with a million socks and t-shirts and pens.

In general I think she's a bit of a hoarder (PROJECTION) and loves collecting little things. Unfortunately they take up a lot of space in her room and she struggles to tidy after a while (... PROJECTION...)

Link only likes sweet things for the sugar hit he gets from them, but he has a select few desserts he actually likes for texture & flavour. He mostly cooks savoury dishes, but sometimes he bakes because he likes sharing the things he makes. Mipha loves desserts but is picky about flavour.

Mipha would get really into metal music as a bid to make herself more mature and then her and Sidon would blast it in the loungeroom and give Dorephan a headache.

Zelda Senior works in a cafe as a baker but has an extensive prior education.

Mipha and Sidon's mother is still dead ;-; sorry.

More specifically, I feel like Zelda's mother's death was more tied to the plot and her identity and the Calamity, but I think Mipha grew around her mother's death from quite an early age, and while it still saddened her, it was already a part of her, which is why I changed one but not the other.

Revali still puts a lot of pressure on himself to be better than everyone else, and in turn ends up putting pressure on Mipha because he's nervous for her. Sorry to lump the bird guys in together but they're very Noelle and Berdly Deltarune to me

Urbosa is one of those teachers that always has a coffee. She get's it from Zelda Senior's cafe.

Zelda and Purah are in a robotics club together. Initially, Zelda joined to get closer with Purah and Impa but it's one of her favourite things now.

I don't have the energy to write out much more -_- but come back for more later if you want lol! I'm having lots of fun with this.

Elvy also posted the unexpected resurrection of Amanda fisher which has been in progress for a minute but got completed this year and is an all time favorite for me!

@seagullcharmer told me all about their breath of the wild lorule AU which was AWESOME to hear about and see it begin to be published!! There’s also reunion which has a really fun POV and an exciting way of revealing more plot—I just loved reading how it unfolded!!

My close personal friend (who I will not put on blast on tumblr) also made some great work on her fantasy novels this year, and I hope that someday they’re published so that I can hawk them on every corner!!

pluto and i were bouncing ideas back in forth for a while so i’ll summarize our overall thoughts and some extra stuff ive thought of (probably while writing this)

so the initial idea came up based on my post about martlet Remembering Resets like sans does and the idea of oh what if she got to explore the multiverse too (maybe the determination injection made her see that oh goodness there is a Lot Of AUs just. there.) then pluto mentioned possible ink and error martlet and i got Ideas… but my first attempt to draw ink martlet ended with fully realized spiral avatar martlet oops! but i finished the design yesterday lol

as for character! ink martlet has taken it upon herself to be the guard of the multiverse, flying through the space between the aus and making sure everything is going well. she’s pretty similar to base uty martlet, save for probably some backstory stuff (that i haven’t thought of yet. el oh el)

there’s no actual plot line… yet >:) we threw around some ideas (vigilante-sheriff starlo and multiverse exploring feisty five and a ceroba searching for a universe where her family doesn’t end up. gestures to uty) but there’s no designs (maybe once i learn how to draw star…)

btw for character design she’s based on eastern bluebirds (though i initially just looked up “blue and brown bird”) with ink’s general style! now that i think about it since i was just kinda doing colors for the actual paint she’d probably have ink the same color as the human souls. maybe throw in a determination serum one just for fun hehe. also adding from my Brain blast during math today she’d wear her hair half up to look like a paintbrush (doodle of it down below)

- The ghouls are allowed one sort of fun outing to town per week

- Copia is required to chaperone but he’ll let them pick what they want to do and where they want to go, he just goes along to supervise

- To keep everything fair, the ghouls get to write down one idea each for what they want to do, they put the ideas in a hat, and draw one each week until they’ve done everyone’s idea

- On Friday night the pack gathers around the hat and Cirrus pulls a slip with the words “Karaoke bar” on it

- So karaoke it is

- On Saturday night all 8 of them and Copia pile into one of the ministry’s van and off they go

- They enter a mostly empty little karaoke bar and get a private room for singing

- They also order a bunch of drinks

- Swiss insists on going first and gives a very unique rendition of No Hands

- Dew and Sunshine cheer him on of course

- Cirrus and Aether absolutely kill their choice of Ain’t No Mountain High Enough

- The others can’t help but give Mountain an amused glance every time his name comes up in the song

- He is very much not amused

- Cumulus goes next and sings Halo by Beyoncé so beautifully that Copia rethinks her being an Air Ghoul because she HAS to be part siren

- “Show off” Dew jokingly mutters when she’s done but Rain slaps him on the arm anyway

- Sunshine decides she wants to sing I Won’t Say I’m In Love from the Hercules soundtrack and gets Swiss and Aether to be the muses

- They do the little dances and everything

- Like i’m talking full on movie accurate choreography

- Rain and Mountain seem sort of reluctant at first but once they realize Disney songs are an option they are all for it

- They do Under The Sea from The Little Mermaid, Hakuna Matata from The Lion King, I’ll Make A Man Outta You from Mulan, and more

- Aether cuts them off after they sing The Bare Necessities for the second time

- After Dew has one too many margaritas (he drank 6) he BODIES Rap God by Eminem and Tap In by Saweetie

- When he starts singing CPR by Cupcakke Copia knows it’s time to go

- “But youuu haven’t sung anything yet Cardi!” Sunshine drunkenly points out from the couch where she’s leaning all of her body weight on a fast asleep Cirrus

- All the ghouls turn to Copia with nods of agreement

- “I— eh, eh-heh. That is true. I suppose one more song wouldn’t hurt.” Copia agrees

- He wanted to do Piano Man by Billy Joel but that wasn’t an option

- So he goes with Bohemian Rhapsody

- And boy was that a choice

- As soon as the ghouls hear the intro they get so hyped up

- Copia sings the intro and verse 1 and 2 by himself

- Dew and Aether vocalize the guitar solo but it’s really off pitch

- The ghouls join in verse 3 and they all do the high pitched voice

- They do the little call and response with Copia

- Sunshine, Rain, and Cumulus song the “Let me go” part and the other five ghouls sing the “We will not let you go” part

- When it’s all over they end up super giggly and in high spirits

- Then they got kicked out because Dew got too excited and lit a couch on fire

- But it was an overall 10/10 experience

If you read all of this to the end, you’re a real one! Also does anyone know of that tiktok with that group of boys wearing like navy blue bedsheets as togas and lip syncing to I Won’t Say I’m In Love cause that’s exactly what I imagine Swiss and Aether doing while Sunshine sings. Someone please know what I’m talking about 😭😭

I did have a blast writing Lesson Learned (Soldier Boy x Reader). 😆 They're at an interesting stage in their relationship where they're married and doing the raise a family thing, but she can still have fun messing with him and testing his patience (as always). Made even more fun and complicated when Butcher, Hughie & Co. get into the mix. 😉

Will we ever get a drabble of them trying and deciding for baby number 2?

Ooh, that's an interesting question! In the story Green, they kind of have that Baby #2 conversation, more or less lol. (Heavily implied that they start trying again about two years later.)

By the time we get to the last story in the BMD-verse chronologically, Calculated Risks, we've jumped ahead to her being pregnant with Baby #2, and Lila being about 4 years old.

So I'll never say never to that prompt, to sort of fill in that "gap," but I think the next BMD challenge will be tackling their wedding, which was a considerable time gap in Strong as Blood (Part 2).

And just so everyone else knows, all of these BMD stories are listed chronologically in the storyverse timeline on the Break Me Down Masterlist, not by when they were originally written. I think chronological order makes it easier for you guys to follow the story as it continues to evolve. 💚

Fanfiction Year in Review - 2024

As this year draws to a close, I just wanted to take a moment to look back at and celebrate all the new fics I wrote this year. I encourage all you creative folks to do the same with your own works! This was a year of almost entirely writing for bg3 and pretty much exclusively very niche ideas. It's been a tough fandom to navigate, with much less community to others compared to what I'm used to thanks to the branching narratives, but I still love writing for it. We started the year with the first entry in The Monster and The Wild series, aka the Ascended Astarion/(eventual) Shadow Druid Halsin verse, as a gift for a dear friend. At the end of the year, that same series now has 5 fics of various styles and is about 70k words. Writing a story that plays with the concepts of corruption and conscience in markedly different ways between each entry has been a difficult and enjoyable experience. Besides finishing the lighter in tone 5th fic, there is a heavy 6th one plotted that I'm very excited about and hope to release in 2025. There are still many storylines to wrap up and characters to check in with, so who knows how much more I will write! In February, I finished up my one Ace of Diamond fic for Chrismiyu day called Full House. It's part of a mafia/card sharks inspired verse that has nothing to do with baseball. I don't know if I'll have anything in store for Chrismiyu day in 2025, but I still have a few notes and unfinished fics floating around out there if I decide I want a break from writing fantasy. Then in May was Girdled Roots, which was easily my favorite thing to write this year and the fic I'm most proud of. It is the amalgamation of a ton of research, combing obscure references to my favorite potential canon events that very few people have experienced in bg3 along with my nature nerd tendencies. I was so excited to write something dark yet hopeful about the post game; a character study where the characters didn't immediately get a happily ever after the credits roll and the epilogue was treated as a typical 'class reunion' where only palatable, partial truths about their day-to-day lives were told to each other. As a bonus, this fic also touched on almost all the companions, which allowed me to write some relationships I rarely get to in my other plots.

Past Meetings, Future Greetings was in November, a vignette fic following a mildly de-aged Halsin along with each companion in the Shadow-Cursed Lands. A mix of silly, a bit sexy, and serious, it was fun to write from everyone's point of view other than Halsin's for once. I'd love to come back to this one in 2025 and play with some other scenarios involving temporarily 100-year-old Halsin if time and inspiration allow.

And now, as we wrap up December, I'm just starting Polar Bear in a Snowstorm as a new entry in the Monster and the Wild series. This is mostly an excuse to write dragons and evil domesticity, and I'm having a blast with it. There are a lot of chapters planned for this one, though most are intended to be rather short. I'm looking forward to working on it in the new year, and hope the readers who enjoy my bg3 niche have fun with it, too! Happy new year to all. See you in 2025!

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

Eight under the timeofjuly account, and a few others scattered around other usernames and the anonymous collection.

2. What’s your total AO3 word count? 124,470 words, which is kinda crazy to look back on since I only started in August of last year.

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Just Undertale at the moment, but I've written for a few other fandoms in the past.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

Yes! Always, though it sometimes takes me a little to get around to it. My favourite thing about writing fanfic is the sense of community that you build, so I love getting to chat about the fic in the comments. I always have a million and one thoughts that didn't make it to the page that I'm desperate to share. I also like to say thank you when people go out of their way to comment, because I really appreciate it. As a reader, I know I get super excited when an author replies to my comments.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I'm going to go with a few of the RtC 'verse oneshots for this. I think Resolutions from Parallel Circuits ends on a pretty angsty note, particularly compared to the seemingly upbeat start. From Silver String, there will be no answer is pretty bleak and so is on my way home. I'm quite proud of how they both end, actually - I think they're my two strongest endings in the lot.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Any of the smut, probably? They're all set in happy established relationships and end on a cutesy note.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Not for a very long time, no! I remember, many many years ago, posting my very first fic on fanfic.net lol and getting a very nasty review about how the reader didn't know the main pairing in the fic was m/m (slash back then, what a blast from the past) even though it was very clearly indicated in the summary and the AN at the start. Yep! Mostly established relationship stuff under this username so far.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

I'm not super into cross-universe crossovers, but, same as @floofanflurr, I really like playing around with cross fic crossovers. I'm (slowly) writing a crack dialogue-only oneshot where the reader inserts of Wishbone and RtC are stuck together in a broken elevator lol. It's been a fun challenge! It's very very hard to put two characters who are normally referred to in the second person in the same scene, lemme tell you, which is why I ended up choosing to go dialogue only.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

I don't think so.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

I have not, but I'd be open to it!

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Nothing that I've posted! @marty-parties and I have been messing around with an underfell papyrus/reader fic, though! I also used to rp all the time, which I'd count as cowriting. I miss it very much, even though I used to get super easily overwhelmed by it.

14. What’s your all time favourite ship?

This is such a tough question. I'll pretty much read anything if I vibe with the ship dynamics (pining and unrequited love my beloved, I will read you anywhere no matter the ship or fandom), but I went through my bookmarks to actually get the stats on this. I used to be super into the mcu (I completely lost interest after endgame) so tony/steve and tony/steve/bucky were the most common ships. I have no clue what my favourite ship would be now, though.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Never say never, but I really want to write this horrortale isekai fic I've had bouncing around in my brain. I've fully plotted it out and it's set to only be five chapters, but I'm really struggling to actually write the thing. I have started it, though, so we'll see.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Characterisation, I think. And even though I mostly gravitate towards writing angsty stuff, I think humour and comedic timing is a strength of mine too.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Physical description and settings, 100%. I don't really picture anything in my head when I write, which means all that physical description doesn't make its way onto the page, and when it does, I'm just going off vibes. Particularly with setting - I have zero idea what the locations in any of my fics look like lol. Like, the house in RtC? No clue. Zero.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

Really cool! I love it when people do this and I get to translate it, it's like a nice surprise.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Harry Potter, I think? It's all scrubbed from the internet now though.

20. Favourite fic you’ve written?

Wishbone. I am so attached to the Second Mage and Sans and Rus, you have no idea. Particularly Flint, I just adore them. Don't get me wrong, I love the electrician and Quinn and all of my ocs, but I have a special place in my heart for reader inserts who are nasty and hurting and lash out and aren't always the kind, considerate, emotionally stable person in the relationship, forever supporting others. I read something years ago that said to consider how your character is inclined to react to things, both good and bad, and how for lots of people, it's not in our nature to instinctively respond to things with kindness and openness. In fiction, we often expect our POV characters to deal with situations with emotional maturity that we ourselves, along with the majority of irl people, don't have. I think this rings true even more for reader inserts. It's fun to flip this on its head in Wishbone - what if instead of acting with an uncommon kindness, you do the opposite? You get to be flawed. You get to have the murky motives. You get to hurt and in turn you hurt others, and that hurting has real consequences on you and the people around you. This is also a great way to create angst lol - in the non-fell version of Wishbone, where everyone is generally just less of an asshole and therefore makes kinder choices, a lot of the events in the fic just wouldn't happen.

Gonta Gokuhara was a gentleman, first and foremost.

But Kirumi- she was what Gonta called “the ultimate gentleman”.

Poised and polished at all times, Kirumi seemed to always be cool headed and wise. She defused tense arguments with soothing words and cups of warm tea, and always went several steps above for everyone- regardless if they showed their appreciation or not. Gonta couldn’t think of a time he’d ever seen the ultimate maid flustered or even angry.

Granted- he had heard a rumor or two that she threw Oma into the nearest trashcan when he kept asking her dumb questions- but that was neither here nor there.

Gonta admired her. She made things so effortless, while all his attempts at being more gentlemanly ended in disaster. He still felt bad for the time he tried to push in Shinguji’s seat and slammed him in so fast he bruised a few ribs, or the time he went to hold the door open for Akamatsu and accidentally took it off the hinges. Both parties had forgiven him, but the shame remained all the same.

Deciding what needed to be done, he got up and went to search for the maid. There was only one way to fix this predicament.

“You want me to train you?” Kirumi seemed surprised by the offer, halfway through dusting the various plants in her lab. “Why? I’m not as well versed in Entomology as you are-”

“Oh no!  Gonta wishes to learn to be a better gentleman from you!” He was quick to correct her, stiffening when he saw her flinch. Whoops- way too loud. “Sorry- Gonta sorry. I got excited..”

“No, no you're fine.” Kirumi walked over, patting his arm with the gentlest of smiles. “You’re not even the closest to being the loudest in this group. But really- are you sure you want me to teach you? I’m rather old fashioned in my etiquette, and I’m not the best of teachers around..”

“Gonta has faith in you!” Gonta nodded enthusiastically, eyes glittering. “Please, Tojo-sama. Show me how to be a better gentleman.”

Kirumi paused, considering. Then she sighed with a smile, tucking away her duster as she curtsied. “Very well. I will do my best to teach you.”

“Yay!” Gonta began to cheer.”

“But!” She cut him off, pointing a finger at him. “I’m not gonna go easy on you. No mistakes will be accepted.” Her eyes danced, an aura of danger began to surround her, making her seem suddenly much larger than life. For once, Gonta felt rather small. “Be ready, Gonta Gokuhara.”

Gonta could only nod, gulping down his nerves.

Whatever Gonta had pictured as a result of making a mistake, this wasn’t it.

“Straighten up- now hold that position when you eat.” Kirumi instructed, voice cool and clear. It wasn't the first time she said it, but her tone never betrayed a single hint of annoyance or irritation. “Come, Gokuhara- didn’t I tell you to hold it?”

“Ahehehaha! Hehehehhahahaha!” Gonta struggled to sit up straighter as that dastardly feather duster wiggled against his lower back. The trade of Kirumi’s talent and punishments; whenever he made even the slightest of errors, she’d get him with it! If Gonta were being honest- it didn’t feel nearly as bad as he imagined.

Granted- he’d only ever seen teaching in books and shows where they’d wield wooden swords and rulers. He was happy Kirumi wasn’t that old fashioned. “Gohohohnta sihiihtting strahhahaight!”

“Hmm..yes, that is correct.” Nodding, Kirumi came around to his side, eyeing him. “Now, which is your soup spoon?”

Easy. Gonta picked it up. Kirumi smiled.

“Very good. First course fork?”

Correct again.

“Main course?”

Gonta held them up as she called them. It took a few rounds of feather dusting to get it right, but he felt confident. Pleased, Kirumi nodded. “Very good. Now- here’s a challenge. How do you place down your silverware when you’re taking a break?”

….Uh.

Gonta looked at the plate, trying to recall the earlier positions Kirumi showed him. There were at least five. He dared a peek, feeling anticipation bubble in his gut when she reached for her duster. “G-Gonta thinks…” He looked at the plate and silverware in hand, panicked. “Gonta…Gonta can’t remember.”

Kirumi hummed, nodding. She walked over to him, coming behind. “First- we have finished.” She took his hands in hers, guiding them to show him. “Got it?”

Gonta nodded, she continued.

“This is to signal a break, excellent…didn’t like…next plate. There you are. Makes sense?”

Gonta nodded, feeling a bit more confident. “Yes!”

“Good.”

Then the tickles came.

“Aehahhahaha!” Gonta yelped, dropping the silverware as he tried and failed to block out her hands. “Geahhahhahaha! T-Tohoohoohhojohohoohoho- shahahahahmahahhah! Aheahhahahha!”

“Let’s try this again. Now- using your fingers- what is the signal for finished?” She asked against his shoulder, a laugh in her voice as Gonta squeaked and giggled, curling into himself. “Come on, you know it.”

“Ahehahahaha- F-Fiihihihihnsihed?” Gonta shakily held out two fingers straight.

“Good. Now show me taking a break?”

“Aheahhahaha!” Gonta willed his hands to move, arms too busy pressed tightly into his sides as her nimble fingers danced across his ribs. At times she walked them up his biceps, giving them a few pinches as she went to really get him laughing. “Lihiihihke thihihihis?”

“Close, a little more open..there you go. Good. Now- show me excellent.”

One after the other, Gonta struggled to make hand signs as Kirumi tickled him seemingly endlessly. By the final question, he was breathless and flushed, leaning into the table as Kirumi released him from her clutches. “Ahehehea..ahehahahaa…hehehe..”

“You’ve done well. Even when under stress, you remembered your manners. As is a true gentleman.” Kirumi nodded, leaving briefly. When she returned, she had a cup of tea in hand. For a moment, Gonta wondered if there’d be more lessons regarding it.

“That should be enough for today. We can pick this up tomorrow.” Kirumi nodded as she placed the cup on the table. Then she paused, stiffening all over.

“Tojo-sama?” Gonta asked, surprised to see her so still.

“Oh, pardon me.” She coughed, her cheeks a rare tint of pink. “I seemed to forget myself. I shouldn’t be making assumptions of your future plans like that.”

“Why? I want to come back tomorrow.” Gonta’s words seemed to darken her cheeks, eyes widening a fraction. “You’re a good teacher, Tojo-sama. I feel like I’m becoming a better gentleman through you.” He turned to her, straightening his back and raising his hands. He pointed his fingers in the direction she taught him was “excellent”. “Gonta rates you with an ‘excellent’!”

Kirumi stared, and Gonta carried on smiling. His face cracked when he saw her eyes well up. “Tojo-sama? Oh no- Gonta messed up, didn’t he?”

“No-no, not at all.” She let out a wet laugh, wiping at her eyes. “I’m just- that made me really happy. More than you realize.” She smiled, something new and warm and what Gonta would describe as adorable in her expression as she curtsied. “I’d love to keep teaching you etiquette, if you’ll have me.”

“Gonta wouldn’t have it any other way!” Gonta cheered, making her laugh softly. “For now, let us have tea!”

“Yes…may I make one small request though?” Kirumi asked as she sat down, taking the cup offered to her.

“Hm? Sure, what is it?”

“Please…there’s no need to refer to me as Tojo-sama. I feel like we’ve gotten close well before these lessons. You’re my friend. I’d like you to refer to me as one.” She seemed to shake some in her cup, cheeks hot and eyes averted. Gonta never thought he’d witness such a composed woman so shy.

“Of course…Kirumi.” He watched her relax, smiling in her tea. “But please call me Gonta. We’re friends after all.”

“Yes. Yes, Gonta- we are.”
