something that i feel like all struggles and the trauma of the past few years have taken from me is the joy i used to get over a new book in a series i loved

i don't know how to explain this properly, but the excitement i used to feel over a new Throne of Glass book, for example, or a new book by my favourite author (whoever it was at a given time), was unmatched

i used to finally get the book i was waiting for, immediately drop everything, and start reading and i just... felt everything so intensely, so passionately, and that doesn't happen to me anymore

i mean, i got both empire of the damned (book 2 in the EOTV trilogy by Jay Kristoff) and lightbringer (red rising book #6) immediately after release date and i still haven't read them (and red rising is my all time fave book series)

i miss feeling like this, i miss that excitement and sheer joy. it's not that i stopped loving books, i'm still reading, i'm still enjoying books, but i lost something
