sometimes i forget that outside of my friends and servers, i don't really talk much about my gavinners boys* huh! so basically, i originally wanted to make them so i could beef up turnabout serenade in my roleswap au, kind of like turnabout samurai where you have a lot more characters which in turn means a lot more suspects!

but then i realized, wait, i need to make them in the canon-verse first before i could make their swap au counterparts! and so now they exist pftt

🥁 DEIDRE MINUENDO

Height: 5'7" (170 cm), 5'9.5" (176) with boots on Birthday: Jul 7 ♋︎ | Pronouns: He/Him, She/Her, They/Them

Deidre is the seemingly gloomy and stoic drummer of the band The Gavinners! At first, it could be difficult to get a read on them but despite all that, they're just like that because they prefer saving their energy. It might not look like it, but Deidre enjoys company even if they're not the most chatty with it and thrives the most when they are around other people (she prefers it if she's around the people closest to her though). Deidre is pretty sensitive and an emotional person even if they don't outwardly express it. To the people close to them, Deidre has a sarcastic streak and can be pretty snappy when it comes to teasing. She can dish it but she can't take it however as they can get slightly irritated when they're teased back. Even if they are a rockstar, they can get embarrassed when people praise or say nice things about them to their face, he tends to brush affection if even if he is secretly flattered by it (he's not gonna admit it though pftt) They also enjoy doodling here and there and like stuffed animals (they have a few of their own!)

Deidre was the closest to Daryan so the events of 4-3 affected him immensely. They felt betrayed and confused and tried to deny that Daryan would be capable of taking another person's life; they scrambled to do everything to protect Daryan from omitting information and even lying on the stand. In the end, all of their efforts were for naught and they felt incredibly guilty for what they've done, especially since she started antagonizing Preston when he was starting to suspect Daryan. They cut themselves off from the group, their job, and stardom. They ended up severely depressed and started to rarely go outside anymore. Only Doremy (Daryan's twin, also a close friend of his) was able to reach him during this time while Viva tried to but he kept refusing to see him. It took them a long time to finally be able to reconnect with the group and it took them a lot of help and support to be able to be well again. Deidre carries Daryan's betrayal to the group heavily and it took a while for her to start forgiving herself.

⚡ VIVA CHI

Age: 25 | Height: 5'9" (175 cm) Birthday: Jan 1 ♑︎ | Pronouns: He/Him

Viva is the lively and energetic bassist of the band The Gavinners! Though he may seem goofy and a little unserious, he actually is pretty responsible and is the mediator of the band (as the eldest brother of his siblings and the eldest of the band, he kind of made that his responsibility). He's a forensic scientist and has always had an interest in science alongside music ever since he was young (he thinks Ema is very pretty but she finds him annoying pftt). Viva was the last one to join the band when they were all in high school and despite his extroverted personality, felt a little shy at the time getting to know a new group of people (it's because Preston was there who he may or may not have crushed at while in high-school.) He's a lover of all things caffeinated (especially energy drinks though he should really pace himself) which isn't always the best match to the fact that he's got terrible anxiety and thinks himself down a spiral when he gets too worried.

Once the band disbanded after the events of AA4, Viva, though left in a bad place with his anxiety shot through the roof, fared better compared to the other members. He tried his best to keep in touch with everyone with varying successes despite Daryan's arrest being fresh and hurt. - visiting Daryan in prison to hear his side of the story - popping in to check at Preston in his office because the guy started to take worse care of himself - contacting Deidre even if she was trying to isolate and cut herself from everyone and looking out for Klavier even if he buried himself in his work He took a break from music like everyone else, he still hopes one day they can meet up and play music again, not even as a band, but as a group of friends who loved creating music.

🦇 PRESTON KEISS

Age: 25 | Height: 6'1" (185 cm) Birthday: Oct 25 ♏︎ | Pronouns: He/Him

Preston is the mysterious yet magnetic keyboardist of the Gavinners! Tall, dark, and bewitching; Preston is aware of the impression people have of him at first glance and likes to use that preconception to surprise and even catch people off-guard by purposely being silly or crass. He has a number of odd quirks and mannerisms that he doesn't realize he has, people tend to notice but they often let it pass because he is very handsome (pretty privilege lmao). Preston can sometimes be mischievous and finds certain things amusing only to him even if others don't find it as funny. He's always had an interest in horror and the macabre ever since he was a young boy which developed into a great fascination with the special effects used in old and new horror films alike. (He can be a bit jumpy when watching movies even if he loves to do it, he can't help it if the movie gets to him!) He plays up his whole immortal vampire schtick because the fans tend to theorize if he really was one. (He is not, he'd love to be one though pftt) Preston is very stubborn and adamant about his opinions and can be difficult to sway if he thinks he's correct; he is also quite awkward when it comes to personal matters, as can be seen in his strained relationship with his older sister and whatever romantic thing he's trying to achieve with Viva. He's used to acting larger than life when the cameras are on but being raw and honest has him feeling a little embarrassed and stilted. Preston smokes and keeps it a secret. (Don't tell Viva that!)

Preston was the first person in the band to start suspecting Daryan which he mostly kept to himself at first but wouldn't deny when you asked him (Deidre did not like that.) After Lamirior accused Daryan in court, Preston was determined to make Deidre confront the truth (unfortunately, not taking in why Deidre might be upset and in denial about it) which caused them to have a fight (with Viva being unsuccessful in de-escalating it.) After the Gavinners disbanded, Preston didn't feel very well after Daryan got sent to prison and lost contact with Deidre (whom he hasn't talked to since the case. [he misses them.]) He seemed fine afterward with his workload seeming to increase though upon closer inspection, he's started taking worse care of himself, skipping meals, and losing his interest in music. Preston has a lot of baggage to sort through regarding his friends and his family that will be difficult and painful for him to confront, but rest assured, he's gonna come out of it happy and well.

ive been rewatching gravity falls starting this week only this time around I have access to the commentary tracks i've never listened to before and

lemme tell ya, I don't need any sort of 'confirmation' from a source on the show when it comes to my headcanons. but hearing alex hirsch describe his idea for gideons origins as a talented kid who was born a 'freak' with his white hair and generally weird nature being kinda ostracised by his peers. and then finding a promise of power in the journal and it unlocking a little evil in him. feels very validating to be like ahhh. we were on the same wavelength...

im gonna put some doodles I did of Even Younger Gideon here because, i've been comin around on changing my previous backstory to lean into the 'town darling' thing more oops haha

everyone in town loves him! well, the adults, anyway. because hes cute and funny. and he doesnt understand WHY the other kids DONT like him. (the 'real' reason is just, they're kids. sometimes kids are rude to people who are different. bullying happens.) and if his identity is built around 'everyone loves me!' then what does it mean if they dont? he can't tell anyone. then the facade will crack. his parents will be disappointed if they find out, he thinks. so he internalizes it. until it reaches a boiling point.

like, I totally get it- when i was a kid id have elaborate fantasies at school about doing something So Cool And Badass that everyone would like me or be mad that they didnt like me before and the ppl who were mean to me would have to suck it. but those stayed fantasies. gideon was given the power to make those real, and turned into a monster about it

i return with some au facts (headcanons if you will) for the zoomies (the legion of zoom)

(general rundown of au which i will elaborate on another day: everything is dandy they are vehicles but when buff asks if there is a way to feel more real moe accidentally globally reprograms everyone's motherboard souls into humans which get spawned in an alternate universe and they have to learn how to be human the batwheels have the batcomputer who helps them but the zoomers have to figure it all out on their own)

Quizz

Rather bad at physical stuff (sports, gymnastics, swimming properly, obstacle courses etc)

he may seem really confident and stuck up but he’s actually terrified of making a mistake because he thinks then he won’t be smart anymore so the confidence covers up any little errors he makes

Hence why when he gets a question/riddle wrong or makes any mistake in strategic/logical things he starts freaking out internally and beating himself up over it.

He also gets upset really easily and when upset will whine, yell at people and/or storm off and hide

He's also very argumentative and thinks he’s always right and gets mad when things don’t go his way. (those two facts = little wet cat toddler)

He’s really good at chess but (very) often he gets too cocky and then makes a stupid move and then he loses. He always plays with Ducky.

He has that question mark facial scar and is often seen with little question mark-shaped doodles/cuts on his arms.

He is gifted (high iq) but he also has a low eq, hes also autistic

he fell in love with ducky but ducky continues to berate and belittle quizz

Snowy

He’s rather morally conflicted. He loves to have fun with his zoomfam even if it means committing crimes, but he also feels a lot of internal guilt if the group does something particularly bad (such as ruining Christmas or directly hurting others (physically or emotionally, or anything that harms wildlife) and then has a lot of trouble sleeping that night

He has a HUGE crush on Buff but Buff has no idea and also doesn’t return the feelings.

He wants a pet but he’s really scared to get one because he knows that when it dies he’s gonna cry for ages and never feel happiness again so he doesn’t have one because he’s “not ready for that kind of emotional commitment” he’s too fragile 😭 my baby

He gets emotionally attached easily and hates being alone like actually freaks out

He’s practically immune to getting colds and fevers but he gets stomach sick REALLY easily, he’s somewhat lactose intolerant so most of the ice cream he makes is actually lactose free

hes trans and okay i know hes a car (well originally) but since this au is where they get turned into humans spontaneously he spawned with female anatomy and he didn't even know-

Jestah

she’s bi and while she has a big crush on Prank, if given the opportunity she would totally hook up with Bibi

she barks at people (all the time), will bite her enemies and sleeps similarly to a dog. The others like to tease her by actually treating her like a dog, eg. chasing her with a leash, throwing things for her to fetch, and many more things.

She has trypanophobia (fear of needles).

She has a big sweet tooth and when there’s no big heist to pull off she just robs the nearest everyday store for candy.

She can’t swim very well.

Oddly enough her and quizz have a sibling-like bond and they help each other out with all kinds of things but also can usually be found bickering about who got the better slice of cake or who gets to pick the crime of the night

She got one piercing per (hyena) ear/earrings and she reallyyyy wanted more but her skin had a bad reaction to the metal and it got infected so she had to stop wearing them and now she can’t have any more (tho she might eventually get hypoallergenic ones when she finds out they exist)

ever since she got the ability to drink she fell in love with starbucks and she likes to think shes a "coffee drinker" but she doesn't even like real coffee only lattes and frappuchinos and fancy stuff-

Ducky

He’s an excellent swimmer (fast, too).

He takes a lot of pride in his appearance and refuses to do any heists on a bad hair day.

He is constantly berating the others for their lack of attention to their looks (especially to Quizz and his scar, which only makes him want to put more scars on himself.)

He’s VERY egotistical (I always think of ttte James for him) and has (too) high self confidence. Because of this it’s going to be hard for him to find a crush because no one is good enough for him.

Jestah told ducky about quizz’s crush on him. ducky doesn’t actually return the feelings, but he decides to pretend that he does to lead quizz on bc he loves the attention and he knows that he can use Quizz to do stuff for him and other general benefits. his behaviour toward quizz is off and on though and while sometimes he’ll be sweet and ‘loving’ he could switch to mean, deprecative yelling ducky at any time if upsetted

He secretly carries a rubber duck named Ella (short for umbrella) everywhere he goes and he can’t sleep without it.

He’s the dumbest one of the gang. 

Ducky calls him Frank to annoy him.

He always teases Jestah for being short and steals her stuff and holds it up high (in an affectionate way)

He wants to make it official dating with Jestah but at the same time doesn’t think Jestah can stay committed to a real relationship. (yk the Bibi thing)

He has adhd

He cares for his fellow zoomers more than you’d think

He doesn’t take the whole “bam arch nemesis” thing seriously and to him it feels comparable to bullying (which he enjoys very much). Then again, he doesn’t take anything seriously, from injuries to straight up murder. (a little foreshadowing ehehehe)

He’s definitely not the immature one (that title belongs to Quizz) but his behaviour is comparable to that of a 10 year old child, despite his role as a villain and thief he loves just having fun with his fellow Zoomers and doing enjoyable things (like throwing stuff at each other, spending time on the beach and at the lake, playing with toy race cars and video games and just enjoying life.) He also especially likes things he can dive into and play in (like snow, mud/dirt, sand, rolling on the grass hills and all that childhood nature fun).

Hey! I’d like to know how best to start an askblog, and how to keep one interesting over a long term.

the number one thing I've found with how to start an askblog is to make sure you have something you think you can roll with for awhile (a character or series you're very invested in, if it's an art one make sure it's a design you're willing and able to draw over and over again, etc etc) and then setting up your blog as completely as possible before you post anything.

[This got quite long so further elaboration + more tips below:]

Enable custom theme, plan out how you're gonna tag things a little bit, set your icon and header (if it's an art askblog, absolutely set it to your own art so people get an idea of what your art is like going into the blog), get your blog description in order, all that jazz. If it's an art blog, make sure you have a design settled for your character beforehand and I'd recommend making it a design you could draw easily if you are absolutely exhausted. Having your design be one you can doodle easily means you won't get burnt out from just the idea of drawing the character. Don't feel like you have to get super fancy or complicated with things - your askblog doesn't have to be colored in or have backgrounds or anything. Get as few barriers as possible in between you and theoretically posting. That's gonna be your number one way to personally stay invested outside of your own interest in the character/fandom/subject/etc. Also try to have some ideas for what type of questions you might get and how you will answer them ahead of time, so you're prepared to get right into things when you start getting asks.

And then the most important step is to open your inbox. Before you do ANYTHING ELSE, open your inbox. Turn on anon. Good. Now never close it. A closed inbox, or failing to ever actually open the inbox, is the number one way I see askblogs die. Askblog Muns will close their inbox and then forget to ever reopen them or wonder why they aren't getting asks and abandon the blog entirely. If you are getting overwhelmed, turn off anon. That almost always slows asks down to a manageable crawl. If you are having a significant problem with rude asks or similar, block liberally. You can block anons - tumblr may give you an error about it but in my experience it generally works.

Okay, so you've prepped your askblog and opened your inbox. Now you have to make a post to advertise it. If you are going to make an "ad" style post or intro for your askblog, make a second post as well that is just a general post about the character or meme or similar. Few people are likely to reblog the intro/ad post - this is not a personal slight against you, people just don't generally see a reason to because it doesn't fit what they usually reblog and really don't like being told to do stuff. Significantly more people are more likely to reblog general fanart, text post memes, a comic dub, cosplay photography, or etc, especially shitposts, and then check out your blog from that. Interspersing occasional posts like that is a great way to keep your activity up outside of asks and get new people seeing your askblog every once in awhile.

From that point on, don't be afraid to send yourself asks or ask your friends to send stuff in just to get/keep the ball rolling. Getting your friends to send you some asks right away can be a great way to start posting immediately and show how the format of your blog works, so new people know how interacting with it works. Don't be afraid to post relevant fandom content stuff there, but generally try to keep it to original posts in a similar vein to the askblog (i.e.: if you run an illustrated askblog, post some of your other fanart for that franchise/character there sometimes as well). And try to keep it to your own content - avoid reblogging other people's stuff too much cause it'll clog up your blog and not do anything to help bring new eyes. You can reblog stuff of course, but don't let it overwhelm your blog. Keeping your askblog active with original posts means more people are going to find your blog and stay invested in your blog and send you more asks and this will self-perpetuate.

As far as keeping it interesting over a long-term, that's subjective. But some things you can do include events, particularly for milestones or anniversaries or etc, and many askblogs include a plotline that the characters follow while answering questions, which can encourage asks inquiring about what the characters are up to and give more things to talk about. If you don't keep things changing or progressing, people can run out of things to ask about. Also, don't be afraid to answer the same or similar questions multiple times - especially if it was awhile ago. It's unlikely all your followers have seen all your posts and you can always put a new spin on it. The one billion hug/boop/etc asks do get tiresome though so don't feel bad about skipping the nth one of those. And don't feel like you have to answer every ask immediately! Saving asks can be really useful later down the line, especially if you get a ton of asks all at once but then don't have a lot later. It gives you something to post.

Just generally encouraging engagement with asks/anons is another good option, again such as with events or even things such as Magic!Anons, which is a way anons can impact the characters/story/event in random manners (some common ones are turning characters into animals or monsters, or genderbends, or etc etc). Or even just having your characters react in particular or silly ways to anons or show ways the characters get their buttons pressed by certain asks will encourage people to send in more of those types of asks or explore ways they can personally torment/annoy/etc the characters more, which people love.

The only caveat to this is be careful about letting it stray too far into just straight up RP territory - askblog crossovers are super fun and can be a great way to build up an askblog community, but RP blogs are an entirely different thing that get mixed up with askblogs sometimes and when those waters get muddied it has a poor tendency to just kill askblogs. Because of how RP blogs function entirely differently to askblogs, if your askblog becomes too much of an RP blog it will become only an RP blog, and you will probably completely stop getting askblog asks because the askblog audience doesn't want to rp. Askblogs and RP blogs are similar in theory but very different in execution and attempting to combine them rarely goes well. You will just end up with one or the other and if you were hoping to make one, getting the other will probably leave you confused and disappointed. Also keeping RP blogs active is a completely different beast - that one is just general RP rules. Make your character and go find an open RP to join or community accepting new members and just hop right in. If the RP fizzles out the RP fizzles out, that's not something you can really control. It's the cons of collaborative writing. Askblogs are entirely in your hands, so you can control how active it is. It just comes down to your own engagement and enjoyment with the thing. Just remember: Ultimately, an askblog is for you, the creator of the askblog. Be as self-indulgent as you want. In fact, being self-indulgent is highly encouraged! Because that's how you personally stay invested in your own project. Never feel like you're forced to keep doing it - it's just for fun and for your own amusement. As long as you're having fun and keep going with it, you will attract an audience that will love it as much as you do. You don't need to post every day, or even every week or whatever - take as many breaks as you need.

So tl;dr:

Set up your askblog as much as possible before you post anything.

OPEN YOUR INBOX

Post general fandom content separately alongside your intro/ad post so you are more likely to get traction to your askblog

Don't be afraid to ask your friends to send you asks, or send yourself asks if you need.

Have something going on or switch things up from time to time (or give a means for anons to switch things up) so people have more stuff to ask about or generally feel encouraged to ask things/interact, such as events, plotlines, and/or magic!Anons.

The more you stay active, the more people will see your blog and engage with it

Ultimately the blog is for you, so make it something you will want to stay invested in and feel like you can keep active with and that you enjoy, and people will become invested in it alongside you. If it helps at all - the audience is theoretical and/or ever-changing. You are a guarantee. So cater to you because you know above all else that you are always going to be there.

( waves) just woke up back read a lil and yeah. Once you finish the rebornverse games,there's still a sudden feeling of being stuck, especially with ocs. For me it helps that I have discord friends who bounce off ideas and plots for said ocs, and I'm literally reworking most of my ocs as we speak......but once that's done it's gonna be like " well now what" lol. What I'm trying to say is that I get the fear - and I can certainly say you fit :)

As for potential advice uuuuuuuuh. Well outside of my own methods, playing more fangames may help? Shifting attention to another separate thing might make you become more fueled for the main thing you wanna focus on( rebornverse). Put ur ocs in different aus for funsies ( not all have to be pokemon related). I literally have a whole separate sub with Imani just being a kid and Devil ( I don't think I ever explained him. Don't worry about it) being her parent bc she never got a good parental figure in her youth in canon, and I'm a sucker for big scary assholes getting incredibly soft for their kids. It's purely self indulgent and the sweetest of fluff but it preoccupies my mind a lot. Maybe u can find an au like that too?

I have played other fangames! A secondary favorite has been Ashen Frost because Holy Shit what a good story and characters. Highly recommend. I think though rebornverse has like. Rlllly good battle systems that makes me like it the very most and is a very driving factor as to why I like them so much. makes me rethinking my base knowledge completely and has enough sandboxing for me to come up with creative teams. The difficulty hits a very niche sweet spot in my pokemon brain. But it isn’t a whole revamp and it doesn’t feel foreign to the concept of Pokemon itself. I’ve played Flux which I’m patiently waiting for because Woah. I have considered Xenoverse but I’ve seen walkthroughs enough to know it’s Not for me. (Though I know why ppl like it!)

As for AUs, I do have one! Only for Mona rlly which is what I Just made Up like 2 hours ago of them being recruited into Team Xen. but for aus to be not Pokemon related it hurts me just a bit cause Pokemon has been the Pinnacle of my creative life (though I have many other interests! Just not. AU worthy for me? Not enough headworms. I also have my timeskip Mercury to work with, and have my Rebornverse Trio Post-game adventure (they go missing for like a good chunk of months to the panic of Everyone) I am rather self indulgent in my ocs in terms of tropes I’m a sucker for as well I fully understand (I don’t know if u can tell but Mona is literally one of my favorite tropes ever by Existing) (like. Hi Kurusu Akira Persona 5r Third Semester Arc lmaoo)

If I were to elaborate on my laments, I always just feel uneasy drifting from the original. But I do agree AUs are Fun and I will indulge them as much as they interest me. the fear of mischaracterizing will always haunt me though I’ve got to learn to accept that it’s Probably Gonna Happen. But I also just love the canon material and want to try expanding on areas if I can find any. TBH this is probably the most fandom invested I’ve been since 2020 (if u can guess which I’ll laugh) where I went art crazy. And of course faced some endeavors because it was 2020 so. Hm. All others were oc murmurs or observations, I’ve never participated in a fandom This much in a long time.

Off topic aside, I’m very grateful for any advice on my rant, I felt better after posting and doodling some random stuff and I feel even better with very kind words. That's a great trio to follow up with though. Those four combined are barely similar /lh You've got the two pokemon AUs and the two ingos in the Oldest Guy Ever club. You love to see it.

But no seriously, this is a serious all star team of favorites. I haven't elaborated on a lot of them beyond the masterlist posts I made, which is super on me, but Steady Tracks, Combee AU and Spirit Keeper Ingo are three of my oldest AUs. By extensionm they're also the ones I am most emotionally attached to. I don't know what form/s it will come in, but spirit keeper and combees are DEFINITELY getting more stuff eventually. I just have to figure out. How. and what, and when.

Fossil AU is one of the ones I've had a while but only started developing more recently, so it's currently in my head all the time. I wish I could elaborate on it but unfortunately it is in the stage of mental illness where I have no idea how to talk about it or explain it to anyone outside of two (2) very close friends. that will absolutely fucking happen though i still stare at that drawing i made a few months ago with fossil ingo and little pearl. i'd fucking kill for little pearl so we're clear. I'm so unwell about fossil it's just in the intangible inexplicable kind of way currently

Downside of having all these AUs is that they all exist in different forms in my head. Spirit keeper is probably supposed to be a comic, but might also end up having longer fic-like sections. Combee AU i want to be a fic i think, but I haven't actually WRITTEN anything for it in SO long. it's gotten swept under the artistic rug in favor of silly doodles. Steady tracks is in eternal hell under the curse, as we all know (nodding sagely)((ITS GOING TO BE FUCKING FREE SOON SO HELP ME GOD)) and I'll be honest I haven't thought about fossil au long enough for it to have a solid medium, but i feel like looser doodle comics would be fun. Or maybe more Big Cool Artwork + smaller written thing. Unsure.

But like, god forbid we talk about Mecha AU or Coupled Uncoupled. The original timeline of the mecha au is an official pokemon animated feature-length movie in my head. I have since developed it in a different direction and I have no idea what the hell I'm gonna do with that. There may or may not be a fully 3D animated goodbye to a world animation for that in the next 3 years because i learned how to model and animate in blender and my power is now unlimited. Coupled (Uncoupled) is a series of Long Fics (like, steady tracks long) mixed with song animatics and animation memes. That thing is so not going to end up being told in the form it exists as in my brain. Many of the other aus are like this

It's currently being sidelined in favor of the chapter itself and a 2d artwork I'm doing, but some day he'll be Real. I've got everything modeled except for his legs (hell) and prat of his head (also hell but less) so that's at least something

part 5 of my doodle dump! lordyyyyy 😅 I have. so many doodles. of Welcome Home XD this is probably gonna take 2 posts aflksdjfslfsdjf so this one will probably be dedicated to the concept doodles I did for Sage when I very first found out about Welcome Home (which feels weird to say, cause it hasn't been that long -- maybe 2 months? 3? -- but so much has happened since then, and Sage and Rosemary's story has changed so much!)

these are the first two groups of doodles I ever did for Sage when coming up with her design! Originally I wanted Sage to be a mouse, but then I came up with a rabbit design and wound up unable to choose between the two 😅 But you guys helped me out and now we have our lovely lil rabbit gardener!!

these are really old, from when I first was thinking of Sage's story. neither of them are true to her story now (except for the "waltism" one XD), but really was just me messing around with Wally and what would be happening with him :D

These ones, however, are much more relevant to their story now! (though not necessarily true word for word 😅) These are my concepts for Rosemary, along with her and Wally's relationship and how they interacted before Rosemary became Sage! It's a lil spoilery tbh, mostly with those last two, but generally with this part of their story I'm exploring Wally's abilities, as well as the idea of relationships (of any kind!) and support across like...spaces? existence? dimensions? i'm not entirely sure what Home/the Neighborhood is in relation to reality/Outside yet. I think I'm waiting for more information on it all from Clown before elaborating -w-

i like the choice of referring to coracias as "a kehrseite man" instead of "a good neighbor" in his first appearance. as is established later... he really isn't one lol. they're mostly referred to as good neighbors in-podcast so it was something i immediately noticed

...kehrseite books must be interesting to read if every individual copy of a book tends to wind up warped a bit in some unique way by its owner. their personal little Touch of Dyslexia. if they could fully rewrite words and not just scramble them that'd probably lead to some interesting good neighbor book clubs... imagine if they could just subconsciously insert a romance subplot into a book, or subconsciously change the culprit of a murder mystery through their suspicions

I’m reworking my one MoD!Harry AU. Details below the cut.

SO. Everything’s mostly canon (not cursed child compliant tho lmao), and Harry is officially Master of Death since he was the owner of all three hallows at the same time. This means, essentially, that he is now the personification/god of death.

Since Harry is Harry tho, he doesn’t want to live forever alone, and so his friends and family try to help him find a way to get out of it. There isn’t one. So he is, of course, resigned to living forever alone.

Except his friends decide “no, no thanks, we’re not letting you do this alone.” So when Harry dies and ‘ascends,’ his family and friends choose to ascend with him. He’s able to reach already dead souls using the stone, so Sirius also ends up making the choice to ascend too. The rest of the dead are content staying where they are.

(I have,,,, such a long list of who ascends and what they do and blah blah blah, but I’m not gonna get into it because it is….. so much. It’s truly just so much.)

The important thing is that the way this works is that the universe resets itself every so often, slightly different each time. And certain things carry through, like tales turning into mythos. Harry and his immortal (sometimes reincarnating) family, are the focus of several of these myths, including the harbingers of the apocalypse one.

So when his family meddles, it’s usually with those names, rather than their original ones. Which, when they interact with alternate incarnations of people they know, can cause some shenanigans.

What is actually depicted in your doodles?

Regulus,,,, listen he is my current blorbo and I just wanted to draw him, ok? The jegulus fandom got its teeth in me and now I’m thinking about Harry Potter stuff again. (Speaking of which! Fuck JKR.)

In this AU, he doesn’t ascend with everyone else, but instead ascends later during a whole thing that I will maybe actually write into a fic. Maybe.

Top left is just the first full body Regulus design I did. Dipping my toes in, you could say. Key things; he’s younger in this. Pre-ascension. He’s wearing slytherin’s locket for plot reasons.

Top middle is the Black brothers with their animagus forms behind them. And yes I made regulus’ a lion. Tbh I think he deserves it. He’s dangerous, lazy, proud, sneaky, and at the end he was really, really brave. I know lots of people make him a house cat, but like. If Sirius can have his star’s namesake as an animagus form, so can regulus.

Below that, we have Regulus saying “Potter?” While looking shocked. I won’t elaborate too much on this for plot reasons (in case I write the fic), BUT, this is the moment that he learns that Lily Luna is a Potter.

To the right of that is the brother hanging out and being cute and I love them. I just want them to reconcile and talk and be family again 😭. Also I want Sirius to have 100 little gay pins for his leather jacket. He deserves it.

Bottom left is Lily Luna and Regulus together. I this AU on particular, Regulus has a mentor/mentee and uncle adjacent relationship with her. They are cute, and I love them, and I won’t hear otherwise, sorry not sorry.

Bottom right is the only doodle I will give spoilers for. It’s post-ascension, where Regulus, Sirius, LilyLuna, and Teddy are all about to wreck some shit. The rest of the family jokingly calls them the “Grim Squad”, because all of them go out and hunt down wayward or death cheating souls. So if you see them, you’re their target, and will die. Just like the Grim thing.

Anyway happy (almost) new year!

…Okay I’m gonna be real here. This year was hard. Like, really fucking hard.

I got a job, uni stepped its ass up, I had to deal with a lot of shitty classmates, there’s no escaping the fact that I’m an actual adult now somehow, my laptop broke halfway through the year, writing stuff was hard but you could probably tell that since I was really only able to add one substantial chapter to both of the Fangans I’m working on and I’m still beating myself up about it now- …Yeah. To say I was in a bad place mentally for a lot of this year would be an understatement. The worst I’ve ever been so far, to be honest.

...But there were some good things I guess. I finally started Hope’s Chains. And even though certain characters’ writing back in the prologue have aged like milk cough Kaz cough for me compared to how I plan to write them now, it started on the right foot. (sure a lot of people don’t like it or the direction I’m taking it but who cares) And I finally wrote DFTH chapter 4. And honestly? Best thing I feel I’ve ever written. Yeah, I said it. Yeah, I can imagine people are pissed with the direction I’m taking Jasper and Kokoro as well as the people I chose to kill off, but I couldn’t be happier with it. (...Except I guess that I cut off the Haruchiko confession scene in favour of Rantaro slamming his head into a wall right when it was getting good. Potential future oneshot maybe? Maybe?? And yes that was a confession, I’ve confirmed it, he fucking kissed her two chapters later what the hell do you think it was) Will it go downhill when I start chapter 5? oh who am I kidding of course it will Hopefully not. Who knows.

And as some of you guys know, I’ve started working on an original story. I haven’t posted a lot about it yet Because anxiety about talking openly about original projects, (and the fact that the last thing I publicly wrote that isn’t DR related was a really shitty RWBY rewrite that I never finished and still cringe and scream about to this day seriously wHAT THE FUCK WAS I THINKING) but I’ll hopefully talk more about it in the coming year. Hey, maybe you might see some of it. No promises though.

So...Yeah. While this year was really shitty for me, a few good things did happen. And here we are now I suppose. Chapters 2 and 5 of Hope’s Chains and DFTH will definitely be worked on (srsly if you thought the last chapters were trips you have no fckin idea), Twisted Magic is kinda a thing I guess, I have some potential plans that could happen that I can’t elaborate on now because Idk if I’ll actually do them or not you get what I’m saying right

Strangers Fake Dating AU // Julie x Luke

I’m a simple person. I see a prompt, I latch onto it, and then I completely miss the entire point of the prompt as my imagination goes wild for no real reason. This really was supposed to be a super short drabble, but it manifested into a 3k+ thing that isn’t even finished.

Julie’s not really sure what she’s supposed to do now. Nothing has ever prepared her for a situation in which she’s supposed to pretend to be a stranger’s girlfriend, especially if that situation involves parents. Does she continue this ruse? Can she come up with a quick enough excuse to tell this Luke character that she actually can’t stay? What if this is just all an elaborate plan to kidnap her? Has she been listening to too many true crime podcasts? Why does Luke smell so good? Does he know how to cook? Why does his shirt not have sleeves? What-

“I can hear you thinking from here.” Her head whips up at the sound of Luke’s voice, which is now at a whisper and kind of frantic. “I just- I just really needed to get my mom off my back, so I kinda need you to pretend to be my girlfriend. Just for the night. I swear I’ll make it up to you somehow.”

Julie studies Luke’s face and it’s nearly impossible to not cave under his gaze, which can only be simply described as ‘puppy dog eyes’. She finds herself smiling back, letting out a huff, “I hope you like lasagna.” And the grin that spreads across the boy’s face is enough for her to know that he’s incredibly relieved that she agreed.

“I’m Luke by the way. Luke Patterson.”

(Okay, he’s kinda cute. And no one this cute is a serial killer. Right?)

She gives a small smile back, “I’m Julie.”

Inspired by paper - LANY

This is one of the first things I ever felt the urge to write down back in September because I love exploring the idea of how two people can appear to be the perfect relationship on the outside, but are actually fighting their own demons. Especially when it comes to celebrities and people who are in the spotlight. It’s basically a 5+1 fic about the moments from other people’s perspectives who happen to orbit around Julie/Luke that all revolve around paper. My outline for this is so long because I can’t manage to narrow it down, and there’s zero cohesiveness but I do have little things jotted down.

“Hey little man,” Luke’s knelt down to match his 5 year-old height, and a hand extends out to him for a high five, “What are you doing here?”

His eyes flicker to the left, towards his own apartment door, where his mom is giving him an encouraging nod. “ I- I just wanted to-” he stutters and finds himself looking at his feet as he shuffles back and forth on the spot. “I- I drew you guys something!”

He shoves the paper out towards the older boy in front of him, but doesn’t look up.

Reincarnation AU // Julie x Luke

I had a random thought in December about how magical it is that Julie and Luke are so tied to one another that their love transcends time and space, which will always lead them back to one another. I remember reading a book a long time ago about how the main character is fated to die at a certain age, and that kind of sparked this little idea. I can’t bring myself to actually plot out every single timeline right now, but I did manage to write a little bit.

It will never be as complex as Rosie’s idea and all the wonderful additions in the link here, and I don’t really plan on it being anything more than a small idea. But I really do still think someone should write some sort of reincarnation AU cause I’d hop on that so fast!!

“Okay- that’s not- Luke. You seriously just ran away?”

“What was I supposed to do Alex? We all know how this ends.”

His friend looks at him, face painted in understanding and he sighs, “Yeah. Yeah, we do.”

Because it’s true, Alex does know, so does Reggie and Bobby. Most importantly, so does Luke. It’s the exact same tragic love story every time.

Call it a curse or fate or destiny. Maybe it’s because Mercury is in retrograde. Whatever. It always ends the same way - with a heartbreaking goodbye, a whisper of the promise that they’ll find each other again, and the possibility of a happy ending. He’s said the same goodbye at least 734 times, but it’s not like he’s counting or anything. Fuck the universe and its mystical ways.

Competitive Alex // Alex x Willie

No real thoughts or reasons for this other than I just think I self-projected my need to play board games with people in real life into a fic. And maybe a little bit of my competitiveness onto Alex and then threw in Willie because I think he would be able to handle it while also finding it endearing. I also have written nothing about the actual competitiveness, it’s just 2k words of Alex crushing on Willie.

“Wait,” his eyes dart between the three boys, “You both know Willie? How come I’ve never met him?”

His roommates look at each other, and there’s a smirk on Luke’s face when he says, “Actually Alex, I think you have. Remember that time you got really drunk after one of our shows?”

Oh no. He really hopes that it’s not the time he’s thinking of, so he tries to sound nonchalant. “You’re going to have to be more specific, Luke.”

“The night we played at that tiny bar at the edge of the campus! We got paid in those tiny colourful shots?” He doesn’t really know where Luke is going with this, so he’s slowly nodding along. “And you were super upset that the hot dog vendor at the end of the street was closed?”

Dear Julie, Love Mom series

I made myself sad with this thought when I first watched the show and was talking to my friend about how I think that Rose would’ve left messages for the Molina family, especially when we found out that Wake Up was actually from her mom. I wrote a bigger explanation for it here.

Anyways, I started with the one for Julie’s wedding and it kind of became an 8k monster with three different POVs?!? As much as I love how I wrote this, I feel too unsure about my writing to share it in full, so you will get carefully selected looks alkfe. (I’m also kind of stuck on some of the more emotional scenes and I may or may not have procrastinated by photoshopping a moodboard for it.)

Excerpt 1 (Julie POV): A look into where I’m going with this whole letters from Rose thing.

The key clicks into place, and with a turn, the latch falls open. She’s not sure what she wants to find in the box, and she’s too scared to think about it really. All she knows is that this was the sign from her mom that she was waiting for all week, and in true Rose fashion, her mom had managed to give it to her, even if at the last second. Her dad turns the box to face Julie, and gestures to her to open up the lid.

Tucked inside is a VHS tape, the words ‘For Julie, on your wedding day’ written in her mom’s cursive on the cover. Some loose glitter and confetti fall back into the box as she reaches in to pick up the tape and turn it over in her hands. There’s a little purple butterfly etched on the back, the same one that’s been drawn on all the other messages that her mom had left her. Her finger automatically finds its way, tracing the shape of the small doodle.

“Do you want me to leave you alone, mija?”

Excerpt 2 (Julie POV): This part has absolutely nothing to do with the main plot of the story, but it self-inserted itself into this fic after @tangledstarlight and I talked about You’re Still the One by Shania Twain being their first dance. This whole scene came to me at 4am one night and might be the most self-indulgent thing I’ve ever written.

They knew that when they had asked Reggie to be in charge of the first dance performance, that they (and Alex) weren’t allowed to veto any of his ideas. Luke had warned Julie that that would be a mistake, but the giddiness that radiated off of Reggie when she had told him he could have free reign was worth it. She just hadn’t thought that he would actually take it to heart and run with it.

Sure, they had chosen You’re Still the One by Shania Twain as their first dance song, and sure it was more or less a country song, but she didn’t really imagine that she’d be staring at her adoptive brother, Carlos and her Dad wearing cowboy hats and boots at her wedding. They had somehow managed to ditch their Flynn-approved suit jackets and were sporting a taupe-coloured suede-textured vest over their dress shirts. If she looked closely, she could see that they had somehow also found some gaudy looking bolo ties with a matching set of ornamental clasps to wear. When she envisioned her wedding, she really didn’t expect that her first (public) dance as a married couple would be a full-on Western themed occasion. The only exception was Alex, who had settled on his cajon in the back, still in his pink suit, eyes rolling when she met his gaze. But even she knew how there was no real annoyance in the blonde’s reaction or else he wouldn’t also be wearing one of the tacky ties around his neck as well.

“I’m gonna seriously kill him.” She hears Luke grumble under his breath, only low enough for her to hear. But she’s still too busy giggling to actually be mad, and she knows that Luke isn’t really going to kill Reggie. At least she doesn’t think so.

Excerpt 3 (Luke POV): Idk man. My mind went “What about Luke?” and I said “You’re right!! What about him?!?”

He doesn’t realize that he’s just been silently staring at the woman in front of him, until a gentle voice breaks him out of his thoughts. “Why are you looking at me like that?” Julie’s peering at him from under her eyelashes, a curious look on her face.

“You just-” he gives a little shake of his head, trying to come up with the right words. He wants to tell her she’s beautiful. Stunning. A wicked beauty. But she’s more than that - she’s almost angelic. “I can’t believe you’re my wife.”

“Luke, we’ve been legally married for like, a whole year.” Her lips are quirked up in a grin, amusement in her voice. “You’ve only just realized that now?”

“That’s different.”

“Yeah? Different how?”

This feels a little strange to post and a little like my inner self seeking validation but let’s not talk about that.

A lot of my posts on such topics aren't really tagged, and my writings are scattered, and some thoughts I've only communicated through tumblr DMs, or just kept to myself and never really detailed publicly at all, so I figured it was time to make a ""masterpost"" of sorts in which I explain every idea I have about needlessly edgy scenarios involving everyone's favourite (?) mid-2000s comedy web series. Because there are issues with my brain.

1. The one where it's the suffering game arc of The Adventure Zone: Balance but with the new kids. I'm probably never gonna properly write this, but I'm imagining it having a tone that gets progressively more serious and intense than the actual series, but still with a decent amount of comedy.

This is the only entry on the list that definitively does not involve any of them dying, although if I was gonna properly write this (which, again, I'm probably never going to) then I would almost certainly include a couple of fake-out deaths (i.e. when Kevin drops to 0 HP and falls unconscious, or at the end when Neil comes back and sees the near-death state that Ryan and Kevin are in). But they all make it out ok.

2. Computer Fighters canon divergence au where they actually do use the computer virus floppy disk to defeat Gunfoot, but the virus takes them over and turns them into fucked up glitch monstrosities.

Also, alternate outcome of that same premise in which only Neil gets taken over by the computer virus, leaving Ryan and Kevin to figure out how to get him back to normal... or whether that's even possible.

3. Just a run-of-the-mill permadeath au. Most events play out the same, but Kevin stays dead after spooky manor, and in between getting up to wacky hijinks, Neil and Ryan go through a tumultuous grieving process which ultimately results in them forging a stronger bond. Maybe in this au the studio sends Spencer in specifically as a "replacement" for Kevin, which forces Ryan and Neil to come to terms with the fact that Kevin is actually gone, when maybe up until that point they'd sort of subconsciously been expecting him to come back somehow.

Later, Ryan getting frozen by the misery meister takes him out of the picture permanently in this au. Either A) without having Kevin there to encourage him, Neil can't work up the courage to go back to the lair, or B) ...well, uh, think about what might happen to a human body in the real world if it got frozen in ice and then someone tried thawing them out with a hairdryer. Yeah. Very icky, very unpleasant, very traumatizing for Neil.

There are two possibilities as to how Neil himself would meet his end without having his friends at his side anymore. Either the bad luck curse from the lost episode does him in, or he gets gunned down while inside the game world of computer fighters 2000. Either way, this is definitely an "everybody dies in horrific and depressing ways" scenario.

4. The fic where they get attacked by Rorschach watchmen, and the elaborate continuation of it that I have not written and probably will not write, but it sure does exist inside my brain. Here's the play-by-play, ft. accompanying notebook doodles (click for full view because some of them are formatted weird)

So, two distinct timelines here. In Timeline A, Ryan manages to avenge his friends' deaths and kill the original Rorschach. However, since he can't go back to his old life, he takes the Rorschach mask and adopts the Rorschach identity.

In Timeline B, Kevin and Neil recover from their injuries, but the first responders recognize Ryan as a vigilante and just leave him in the alley. Neil and Kevin return to the alleyway after recovering and leaving the hospital, and they find a stray dog chewing on a pile of human bones. Kevin blames both himself and Neil for what happened to Ryan, but Neil refuses to (outwardly) accept any blame. This leads to them having a big argument and going their separate ways.

Cut to several years later in Timeline B. Neil has devoted himself to advanced computer science, whereas Kevin (who has an eye scar in this timeline from when Rorschach punched him in the face) has devoted himself to such hobbies as violence, guns, and dramatically holding Ryan's skull (because yeah that's whose bones it was if that wasn't clear) and vowing revenge.

Kevin's plan is to kill Rorschach, but for some reason in all these years he's never been able to find him. This is probably just because this timeline's Rorschach also died ""offscreen"" at some point. Maybe the actual plot of watchmen happened, who knows. Either way, Neil has a loftier plan: opening a portal to an alternate reality, finding an alternate version of Ryan, and bringing him into this universe (because, plot twist, Neil DOES feel extremely bad about what happened!! He's just unwilling to admit to all the guilt he's wracked with!!)

So Neil's plan actually works, and a version of Ryan manifests outside his science building. However, just then, Kevin was heading over to Neil's science building to yell at him or something, because that's something he does occasionally. That, or everyone is just incredibly in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Because, guess what, it's Rorschach!Ryan from Timeline A, who all this time has just been doing the edgy vigilante thing and being depressed and alone. He appears, with the Rorschach mask on, and Kevin immediately shoots him. Neil gets there just in time to catch him as he falls.

Kevin rips off the Rorschach mask in a classic "let's see who you really are!" moment, and is shocked and horrified to find that it's Ryan. At this point, Neil breaks down and admits to all the guilt he's been wracked with all these years.

Does Ryan survive? That's up to you to decide for yourself, I guess. Do you think you could survive getting shot point-blank with an entire round of bullets? Either way, it's definitely a big moment of emotional catharsis.
