One of these days, I'm gonna be in a fandom where my OTP is the fandom-preferred OTP. I mean, it hasn't happened yet, and I feel its gonna end up being a one-and-done for me, given my track record. But I have to believe it will happen.

And that when it does, I am going to make every effort not to forget my lonely "only curr about the rare pair" roots by actively trying to be nice and encouraging and welcoming to all the rare pair shippers who only ship other pairings instead. Yes even the ones that I personally find boring and/or distasteful and/or "too problematic for me."

#i mean harry potter was probably the closest but i feel like the fandom was pretty evenly split at the time b/w ronmione and harmonie #and going by current ao3 standards drarry is actually currently most popular instead and ronmione is only like 5th #tho tbf i'm not sure ao3 is always the best gauge of most popular ships when a fandom is that mainstream and old #also i was too young to appreciate shipping a popular ship at the time and barely old enough to be involved in the fandom #so i couldn't even enjoy it all that much #this was inspired by me sharing what I thought was a funky and harmless little rare pair #but then getting (admittedly lightly) scolded b/c it was apparently still too 'problematic' for the fandom's taste #even though age difference was the only thing problematic about it and everyone was 25+#and i have done so much worse when it comes to shipping and will likely do so again #i just wasn't expecting to get called out for THAT one and it kind of threw me a bit #made me feel sad and a bit of a freak #esp because i was trying to be good and safe and uncontroversial for once #but it still wasn't right since i can't do fandom 'right' even when i try #tho tbf lot of it is probably just lingering sad feelings from my most recent therapy appt #about me
