My Lawlight headcanon is that-

Yeah yeah, I'm well aware that the first friend scene was a lie from L's side and a mind game from both sides- BUT look at Light's FACE (and no Light's a good actor but this split second of '...' + transparent eyes is not a performance imho)

He's genuinely stunned (translation: L broke him for a moment there lmao it's like, during that single moment, they're the only ones in the room!) BEFORE he realizes that they are playing a role here in front of the task force. As Ryuga and Light; which is what he tells Ryuk later:

(His eyes are hidden *clenches fists* Light is emotionally affected and does not want anybody to know that L got him. Again.

Except this time, he feels humiliated in a strange sort of way.

Despite everything, including the whole 'enemies till death do we part' thing they have going on? Light enjoyed his time with L (albeit not without the collateral damage of other people dying but I digress). He DID like playing tennis with Ryuga as he tells him. That part's not a lie! L being a good friend is not true though.

L does not want Light as his friend for real. He's bullshitting as always to catch Light off guard. This isn't new. But it. is. Personal (to Light, at least).

Only it shouldn't be! This is all part of their game, isn't it? Then why does Light feel a bit...disappointed due to it not being real? In an alternate universe, would he have liked truly being L's friend?

No! Of course not, that is a ridiculous line of thought! Additionally, just 2 chapters ago, Light was like:

Can you see the lawlight and yagamane parallels here? L intends to catch Kira!Light and poses an execution threat to Light while Misa means to date Light and poses some threats of her own:

Both L and Misa come on too strongly toward Light (one as an enemy and the other as a potential ally). Light merely wants to get rid of them both so as to achieve his keikaku with ease. While dealing with Misa, Light thinks, 'I'll be killing her eventually...I can't develop feelings. That's how most idiots screw up.'

Notice how similar this is when it comes to his dynamic with L as well? He has to kill the latter eventually too and his reaction (to when he's confronted with the fact that Rem *can* kill L at his immediate request before the fiasco of Misa getting arrested happens at least) is this below btw:

The guy is truly shocked at how easy it seems to kill someone as intelligent as L. Light does not smile or seem amused. He takes this (L's future death) very seriously (I think it's the first time he does this since his first two kills). I believe it's partly due to the begrudging respect he has toward the genius detective and partly because of the 'what-if's in his mind.

His eyes, blown wide, are unreadable except for the astonished look they show. It is a rare display of emotion we see from Light (I can't seem to pinpoint just what the emotion is tho) which is quite noteworthy imho.

The point is! Light feels a little humiliated for letting his emotions get the better of him even if it was for just an instant during which he was gobsmacked by L's lie which he wished for it to be true.

Light can rationalize it all he wants but deep down, in his heart, he'd always know that there was a period of time (however small) that he not only fell for L's lie, but also secretly under LAYERS of repression actually just wanted to live in that world- the world where there was neither L nor Kira, just Ryuga and his friend Light.

That's wishful thinking and boy would Light hate this if he acknowledged for even a second that yes, he does want that.)

Again. Light 'Developing Feelings = Idiotic Screw ups' Yagami cannot afford to deceive himself that L, on some level, wants to befriend him as that may as well cost his life if he did. He cannot get distracted as that was most definitely one of L's intentions of calling him his 'first friend'.

He'll dutifully play along as he had anticipated it a while ago:

"I like this, Ryuga. If you want to be friends with me. I'll gladly hang out with you."

Light sure looks thrilled as hell to be role-playing as L's friend lmao- like he loves mind games, he revels in duplicity, he enjoys challenges that L adds to his life so is it any wonder that the combination of all is *chef's kiss* for Light? He is so so EXCITED to be hanging out with L face-to-face + looks forward to stabbing him in the back!!

Thank you so much for everything you do for The Devil Judge fandom, you've really managed to give us accurate character fanfics and analyses! I hope you manage to take care of yourself to recover well.

I was just wondering what you think Yo Han would feel and how he would internally react to finding out about Ga On's bombing attempt before rescuing him. Because we see what he shows Ga On, but that often doesn't show how he feels, especially after immediately finding out about it.

Though, admittedly, I'm still a little disoriented by everyone's faith in my analyses and characterisation. Like, I've always had a knack for it, ever since I wrote my first fanfic over ten years ago (that whole "I can literally hear them say this, and see them move in my head" has been there since the beginning) but it somehow seems to have intensified with The Devil Judge? x'D

Which obviously isn't a bad thing by any means! It's just a little disorienting because I'm not used to being given this kind of... authority, almost? I don't feel nearly qualified enough.

But that could definitely be the imposter syndrome talking.

Anyway! To your question!

YES. I HAVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT THIS TOO.

Or, rather, I've been wondering how that whole thing went down. As in, what's the timeline here? Because that is the most important question, because it also changes the answer to your question.

And it starts with: How much did Lawyer Ko know? We don't actually hear what Ga On tells him about his plan, so did Lawyer Ko know what the bomb was actually for? Or was the plan not quite as drastic when Ga On first told Lawyer Ko about it, because Yo Han hadn't "died" at that point? And it was only once Yo Han was gone that Ga On changed his mind and decided to blow himself up, too, without telling Lawyer Ko about it?

Because, quite frankly, I have a hard time believing that Lawyer Ko wouldn't tell Yo Han about Ga On's plans to kill himself if he knew about them. And sure, Yo Han is a bit of a drama queen, but I don't think he would have waited to approach Ga On until literally the last couple of seconds if he'd known that there was a risk that Ga On might die.

Especially since Yo Han had hours between when he was declared dead and the final trial, which took place the day after he was smuggled out of jail. He had plenty of time to find Ga On and I can't see why he wouldn't, if he thought that Ga On was about to kill himself? Again, he's dramatic, but not reckless — especially not when it comes to the lives of those he cares about. What if he'd been too late?

Even more so since Yo Han had his own plans that were about to take place in that very same building. Which would have been completely derailed if Ga On had had time to detonate his bomb. And Yo Han simply wouldn't risk the culmination of his ten-year-long revenge plan for the drama. Not a chance.

And, finally, had he shown up literally three seconds later than he did, he would most likely have died in that blast, too. And, sure, Yo Han may seem careless about his own safety, but every risk he takes is very calculated. And he definitely didn't plan to die that day — he wouldn't do that to Elijah.

He wouldn't make such a gamble — risk leaving Elijah all alone in the world — just to make his Lazarus moment as dramatic as possible.

Not with only three seconds to spare.

So the only logical conclusion, in my opinion, is that Yo Han found out literally minutes before it was about to go down. Probably because Lawyer Ko goes: "Oh right, I forgot to mention because we've been so busy, but Kim Ga On has a bomb and I think he plans to blow up Min Jung Ho today. Maybe we should stop him?" Without realising the severity of the situation — since he doesn't know about Ga On's martyr and suicidal tendencies. Because, again, if Lawyer Ko had known about Ga On's plans, I feel like he would have mentioned it to Yo Han sooner? Because that's some pretty damn pertinent information right there. At which point Yo Han would have approached Ga On (clandestinely, of course) and talked him out of it.

Or, well, just showed up, in all honesty. I think that would have been enough to convince Ga On not to kill himself, since his decision was no doubt heavily influenced by his feelings of guilt and grief.

As for Yo Han's reaction?

WELL.

If it plays out like I've speculated here, that he and Lawyer Ko are getting ready for that last trial when Lawyer Ko mentions the bomb? And Yo Han maybe just nods along at first — kind of annoyed because this clashes with his own plans — until he remembers who they're talking about? And how reckless Ga On is? And that Ga On is under the impression that Yo Han is dead, too, so shortly after Ga On lost Soo Hyun?

Imagine the moment when Yo Han connects the dots and realises that Min Jung Ho is probably not the only person Ga On plans for to die in that explosion.

Panic is a rather apt description, I'd say.

That kind where the entire world grinds to a halt for a couple of seconds and your chest just squeezes from fear and denial.

Not a lot of it would show outwardly, of course, but internally? Yo Han would be panicking. Because unless Ga On gave Lawyer Ko an exact time — which I don't think he did — it could be happening right then, at that very moment. And he's not wrong because it probably is. But Yo Han doesn't know that, of course, and has no idea how much time he has to try and stop Ga On.

He doesn't know if he'll make it in time.

And that just makes it so, so much worse than if he'd found out earlier. Because, all of a sudden, it's a literal case of life and death, with several variables Yo Han isn't aware of and doesn't have the time to try and figure out, either.

Ga On might die.

Fortunately, Yo Han is so good at compartmentalizing that he'd probably only feel a couple of seconds of panic before he's able to shove it down and go into razor-sharp, problem-solving mode instead. Especially since Ga On's life is suddenly in danger so, clearly, there's no time to panic. It is time to act.

And even as Yo Han proceeds to do just that, I think his mind would be spinning in the background, berating himself for not considering this possibility. Because that's his thing. He's supposed to be able to predict the moves of everyone on the board. He's supposed to be several steps ahead of everyone. And he is — at least when it comes to his main goal with the chaebols. But, once again, he didn't account for Ga On. He forgot to consider what righteous and tender-hearted Ga On would do when caught up in all this guilt and grief.

He didn't think.

Yo Han has a blind spot — or a weakness, if you will — and its name is Kim Ga On.

And Yo Han would be so angry with himself for not realising this sooner. Like, if he'd only just thought about it, he could have reached this conclusion long ago — that Ga On might do something stupid now that he thinks that both Yo Han and Soo Hyun are dead, and Professor Min betrayed him — but he didn't. He was too caught up in his revenge.

(Which is a beautiful rabbit hole one can go down, if one desires. Like imagine the pain Yo Han would feel when he realises that his obsession with revenge almost cost him his new family. It turned out okay in the end, of course, but he was so close to losing it.)

But he'd show Ga On none of that, of course, when he arrives to rescue him. Because Yo Han is a showman — with perfect and masterfully executed plans — and he can't let Ga On know that there were a couple of minutes just now where Yo Han wasn't sure if he'd get there in time to stop Ga On. When he wasn't in control.

But I can imagine that's definitely something Yo Han will have nightmares about later.

... which he also doesn't tell Ga On about, naturally.

But, all of that said, I also think that Yo Han would sort of... brush it aside after that? In that way he does with things that are traumatic? Like, he wouldn't really look any deeper into it or try to ask Ga On if he's feeling less suicidal after the whole ordeal. Because he knows he's not really equipped to deal with the answer, whatever it may be.

So he'd just be grateful that he got there in time and try to put it behind himself in one of those "well, it worked out in the end so, clearly, there's no need to agonise over it" sort of deals. Which is by no means healthy, but that's Yo Han for you.

So yeah! That's what I think! :D

There is obviously some guesswork involved since, again, I can't say for sure exactly what happened in what order. But I truly can't picture both Lawyer Ko and Yo Han just shrugging off Ga On declaring that he's going to kill himself and then allowing him to get as close to it as he does. Honestly, I refuse.

Camp Camp | Cryptid!David AU

Okay so I’ve been thinking a lot about this AU lately. The Cryptid!David AU.

This would be a canon divergence. Basically, everything is the same (mostly). Except that David is a weird creature shape shifting thing that protects the camp.

More about this AU under the cut :)

The idea would be that David was a normal human young person. But after being on a hike during his time as a camper to Sleepy Peak Peak, he is chosen as the guardian of the Camp and or Sleepy Peak forest area. He is given some sort of amulet/bracelet by QM that allows him to control his shapeshifting. As the guardian of the Camp, he fights other creatures like wendigos, skinwalkers, big feet, you name it! But because he is not 100% human, even if he wants to leave the camp, he is somehow tied to it and needs to shift between his human and monster form every so often. Or his two selves start leaking into each other.

He is mostly able to act as the guardian and also as a counselor, but when Max comes to camp things start getting pretty difficult for him. Max is convinced that David is hiding something and is trying to expose whatever it is. For David, this means that he is not able to shift as often as usual which causes some bleeding of his cryptid side into his human. And who knows, maybe this causes even more problems.

Anyway, I am still working on this idea and I am currently writing a short story based on this AU :)

Ufff...I think that can be really dependent on who you ask as well.

Generally what people tend to find the most attractive about him is a mix of personality, demeanor and how he expresses himself, not just verbally but in general: calm and subdued but not overly shy, self deprecating yet self reflected, sensitive but kinda reserved, sarcastic at times but very sincere, serious but still humorous in a subtle way. It's a weird amalgamation of these things. People who find interest in him and are observant tend to notice these patterns in him and find them intriguing somehow.

Absinthe Moon - We all knew it. They do this kind of thing professionally. The Games got personal though. Alex's family would get a wonderful assortment of gifts and their sincere apologies, and they would die a week after The Games. Several of the highest level coordinators of the games were found dead and there was a very nearly successful attempt on the President's life. Some people, right?

▣◎▣ CAREERS

Bitch - She would have a huge advantage over the others with her dogs- She's waiting for the endgame when they let the dogs out and she works her magic on them. Three thousand pound monsters, however untrained are sure to take out most of the other tributes. The drawback here that keeps her from winning is that using her power is tiring and that she can't control the canines right off the bat, she has to train them from scratch.

Danny - Honestly, I was tempted for a split second to give him the victor title, but here's the fact of it, he's moral and arrogant. He has all the benefits of resistance to the Game's common poisons and drugs, plus killing others isn't necessarily a moral dilemma here. He wants to survive. Nothing gets in the way from that. Absinthe ends up killing him.

Charlie - Great survival skills and comes from a long line of career tributes. His strong point is definitely with animals- I got the feeling that this would his downfall. Trying to tame Bitch's dogs. If they don't get him, she definitely will!

▣◎▣ STRONG TRIBUTE

Tiffany - Capable is the only word to define her. She could win this! She thought she'd want to as well, but she didn't choose to kill other people. To treat them as things. This is where she would die, not in defensive killings, but in the moment that she has the upper hand and needs to make a choice. . .

Jack - He's definitely the sort to team up with most everyone else- meaning most of his "team" gets killed off within the first day or so. He's the last standing and might be of use to any of the careers before the final bloodbath . . . He doesn't last long after joining them.

Justin - Truly, his greatest strength here that would win him last-minute sponsors would be that he is so fucking paranoid! He also recognizes a lot of the traps and strategies because he's spent such an extreme amount of time researching past games. I think he'd survive toward the end, past some of the career tributes to be taken out by Danny, who's a bit of a loose end.

Alex - Honestly, he should probably be in the Career category, but he doesn't consider dying in someone else's stupid game to be a personal vocation, so therefore, he's here. Two words: Nightmare Endgame. Him and Absinthe are teaming up and taking out anyone who's left. If they had pulled the, 'I can't kill you, I care too much.' bullshit, both of them would survive. Absinthe is so totally giving him the dramatic warrior's death he wants.

▣◎▣ ONE DAY SURVIVOR

Sylwia - Oh so many people would be pissed. Sylwia would be the type to get tons of sponsors, cast herself as manipulative, cruel, intelligent, not to mention gorgeous. Why drive the knife into other people's heart- not that she couldn't- if they do it themselves? The reality though, would be that she doesn't really want to hurt anyone. She is tired and willing to die by the first person that finds her.

Isaac - He's lucky enough to escape the Cornucopia, but after that something's gonna one-shot him for sure. If it wasn't stepping into a trap or tripping over his own feet, one of the others gets him right between the eyes.

Grayson - Let's be honest, being deaf at the Cornucopia is a huge disadvantage. There's too much going on and in The Games with everyone going for blood, I don't think he's make it. Despite his smarts and decent offensive skills.

Hat - If he managed to make it past this point, hell yeah he'd win the game! He's a hat though, and in the time old strategy of blowing up the area, that doesn't work out so great. Burned to cinders.

William - This is another one that would upset a lot of people. He's a star at wilderness survival and handy with weapons, but as soon as he's surrounded by chaos and loud noises, he freezes.

This is my first and, in my opinion, best "Bob's Burgers" fanfiction. I wanted to write this Bob/Linda/Teddy story from the moment that I first saw "Friends with Burger-fits." This fanfiction propelled me into the BB fandom and helped me meet some of the most wonderful people, including my BB bestie @babsvibes. "Teddy" is also my longest work and I put so much research into this one.

This fanfiction is my closest foray into smut. It's only rated mature but I'm still very proud of myself for even trying to write outside of my comfort zone. I hope to eventually finishing editing and post my one genuine smut fic (from a decade ago and also in the "Pacific Rim" fandom). Wish me luck on getting over my squick!

This is my favorite fanfiction for "Sailor Moon" that I wrote. It's not my usual fluff and romance but I managed to get the comedy down really well. Also, I can't help but love a cooking disaster as a creator of a few of those myself.
