Honestly, I’m not entirely sure what the pattern is LMFAO. Like half are pleasant/happy/neutral while the other half seem to be kinda angsty. Literally two start with someone smiling lol. Though the fic starting with ‘Yavin 2 was a dismal place’ is somehow the funniest line to me in the list. But in general, I seem to try using the first line as a way to set the tone of the fic by either what they’re doing or what it looks like in number 7’s case which is interestin since some of these were started either 2022 or for my Found a Padawan earlier. So it’s good to know this is how I’ve been starting my fics for awhile.

🌋Additional fun facts about Uendo Toneido!

In tha original Japanese version, it's a bit more obvious that tha alters are fictives of sorts. Kisegawa retains her name from tha rakugo story of 'Omitate', but Patches's original name was 'Ippachi' while Owen's original name was 'Sadakichi Isoda'. They're both rakugo characters that feature in a number of stories, Ippachi especially.

While Uendo's original stage name was 'Bifu Senputei', Uendo Toneido functions as a real Japanese name! (Ya can even see it a split second written on the fan they threw) Translating roughly to "Feather Performer", we believe.

A right cute detail is the fan symbol pepperin' their design is not only a mechanical fan, but one with specifically 4 blades.

Them gettin' drunk off of a sake bun is actually a rakugo reference! 'The scary manju bun' is a tale of a man claiming that his biggest fear, one that makes him pass out, are manju buns. When his friends prank him with a bunch of them, he eats them all and goes 'hmm... my biggest fear now is... a bottle of alcohol...' 'r somethin' like that!

Number of mats a rakugo artist sits on can be indicative of how popular/well liked they are! Can't get full details on this but it's 'parently a gag in rakugo shows/series that this can happen. So it's fair ta say that Uendo is fairly well liked as a performer ('n probably does give out autographs!)

Uendo calls Geiru "big sis" and Athena "sis" in the original Japanese

Uendo actually falls in line with a specific theme of Spirit of Justice, which I can only really describe as being themed ta spirit channelin'? Albhi and the dog being able to talk somehow, the magician twins pretending to be one person, Uendo and co. all seem to be sort of allusions to that element. In a sense they're kind of a parallel to Maya Fey, in fact they're actually the same age as her in canon, if ya look closely! It makes sense, if ya consider Maya and Mia are basically two characters in one. 'N with how many cocouncil characters allude ta Maya (if ya haven't played the Professor Layton one the gal in that is uh. The most blatant one, we'll say.), Uendo sorta... inadvertently confirms the whole dang series has been awfully plural for a long time? It's interestin'.

These little facts just make everything so much better, though. And tbh I'm not surprised that the Uendo's headmates may be fictives - considering how large rakugo is as a piece of their shared life.

Idk it seems like they did a decent amount of research for rep that actually felt reasonable within the context of the AA universe. Especially with these added little facts. ❤️

...i find Chapter 1 simultaneously boring AND interestin, tbh.

think it's the pacing mostly, n the enemies (besides Jev n King) are not that fun to fight. the Great Board zone i despise. has ruined my "personal best" runs several times lmfao.

but Susie's arc is fantastic, n i enjoy her and Lancer's antics. Ralsei's barely contained frustration with the both of em is interestin to me, too. everyone seemed to gloss over those moments where he isn't just nice n passive.

ive read anyones ghost, our wives under the sea, in the dream house, under the whispering door, and am currently reading her body and other parties, and i finished the dreamer trilogy finally !!!! (read all of these since mid august)

camp counselor-ing was really fun!!! it was about 29 total hours. it was at a pretty nice camp and i spent 90% of the time with my cabin which was me and 2 other counselors and our group of 13 fifth graders!!! we did like all of the most cliche camp things like canoeing and archery and singing songs around a campfire (a fake one tho cause we're in a burn ban). my cabin got to go to dinner first because we were the best behaved and most engaged and the most involved counselors and then the next day we got to go to lunch first because we had the cleanest cabin <very proud of this. we also got all 13 kids to shower in under an hour (very strict door management and freezing cold showers), got them to go to bed 45 minutes early (lied to them), and then got them all packed up and to clean the cabin in 40 minutes lol. we were running that cabin like the military. but the kids all loved us and they listened to us (something the other counselors in other cabins struggled with !!!

new york was certainly a place !! we drove there which was terrible horrible evil . pennsylvania never ended . it was like a worse version of the backrooms out there . we were only in nyc 4 two days nd we stayed in queens but it was cool !! p chill tbh ?? i wouldve loved 2 see the city but queens was nice . i had new york pizza nd it was YUMMMM . drive back was awful miserable disgustin

!! the performance thing !! our school does this yearbook fundraiser thing where the yearbook class as well as all performin arts classes perform . its pretty cool nd its fun seein all the diff groups !! though the seventeen thousand show choirs get old after a little . this yr i have 2 work up in the sound booth immediately after i perform (bc apparently no one else was available ??) so im excited 2 see how that turns out

I haven’t really... thought much? Abt what their parents were like??? They got killed when Beri was still a baby, so he doesn’t remember em at all. Mara’s got a nice number, but (to her distress), they’ve faded with time.

I know for sure that they were very protective, enough to act as guards for the town they lived in. I have a feeling their mom was very gentle and liked to sing for her kiddos, but had a very fierce temper n protective streak. Their dad was probably more reserved and slow to anger/judge, but he was swift to deal out justice as he saw it necessary.

So, they both got habits from both parents, whether they remember em or not ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

hi! who are your favorite Deltarune characters?

Ahhhhh that's hard! I haven't played chap 2 yet, cause my attention span flew south for the winter, so I don't really know the chap 2 background characters yet to name any. My favorite background character of 1 would probably be that huge bird, I really like how they look, and tbh they surprised me! Oh! Tied with Clover! She's so cute and such a good design!

Overall, I'm pretty predictable. I love basically all Deltarune characters to an extent, the annoying doge just makes such interestin lil dudes. My favorites overall, personality and design, would be the king, Jevil, Spamton, and Susie. Design wise, Seam, Swatch, and Lancer. Actually, Lancer would be a fav too, he's hilarious, and such a darlin. Very brave, and very heroic for a bad guy, hehe. I'll probably love Seam even more when more chapters give more dialogue from them, and maybe Swatch will catch my interest more once I play chap 2.

Susie is just all the best tropes, and done really well. Masculine girl who isn't written as her masculinity being her only personality, lonely bully who just wanted friends all along, loyal to the very end. She's funny, she's coolness incarnate, she's emotionally vulnerable.

I also just love how high her friends tea fuels her, she may tease and bug Ralsei a lot, but like most things, she cares a lot more than she's care to admit, and it's just so sweet. The other characters have vastly different tea numbers because of who they're comfortable around, but!! They all fuel her so much with the power of friendship! Susie just!!! Loves them all so much!!! Don't tell her I called her out on this, but not so secretly, she's the biggest sap of the team!

Jevil, of course!!!!!! JESTERS, BABEYYYY. Mysterious, powerful, goofy, brutal. I love his laugh.

I love that the doge lets fat characters be super powerful in his games too, it's so rare and makes me feel good. They get to be humorous, or fail, without it feeling the same way most fat ppl are written when they are humorous or fail, yaknow? They get to have depth and a whole realm of emotions, or flat out secrecy, instead of the same tropes the same way. They're actually characters.

Jevil being more aware than most people, and suffering mentally for it, is so interesting and tragic, I can see why so many ppl want him and Spamton to interact. They are polar opposites, bound to be good foils, even if they hate each other, but have also gone through a lot of the same existential dread, they could probably yell and laugh and talk for hours, until they destroy wherever their at with their antics.

I think I lean a bit more toward wanting to see his and Seam's dynamic though, a quiet wisdom to balance out his chaotic smarts. I hope they were besties, and get to be besties again.

I want to see the rest of Jevil, when he's not just drunk on power or being vague, his other emotions, his hobbies, him forced to be mundane for a little while, forced to let ppl get to know him, or at least see what that was like in the past. I think it would drive him crazy at first, but he'd find subtle ways to enact chaos within a community without getting arrested. Leave riddles on doorknobs, solve equations without credit or explanation, put jam in shoes if he's feeling especially giggly. We barely know him, but I love him, your honor.

Actually I haven't been able to beat the jerk yet, so -10/10 actually, he's a bully and a jerk and I hope he steps on a Lego! Jevil cancelled!!!!!!

Idk why I love the King so much, but I do. He's such a satisfying villain. Really puts our teams loyalties in each other and to their morals to the test, and has great emotional tension in his boss fight. His fight is just really fun imho, not too hard, not too easy, nice visually. He's got a good design, good dialogue, and is delightfully nasty.

And his son is babey!!!! He's so sweet I could get diabetes, the funniest dialogue, and just an oddball. I like that he's not random, just weird, like Tilly from Big City Greens, or Greg from Over the Garden Wall. He makes the strangest decisions, but they have a clear line of logic in his optimistic lil kid brain. Realistic written kid in general.

And his dynamic with Susie is one of the best parts of the game!!!! Susie is so lonely and insecure, a kind, goofy little brother is what she's always needed, especially someone who shares her interests in things like mud pies and weapons and "badness". She's just what he needed too, a good influence, someone who values him and isn't just there out of obligation or pity. Someone who loves him, in person. I hope with Lancer's dad not intimidating possible friends away, he gets to make a little rowdy crew to keep him company when officials are busy.

Spamton, Spamton, Spamton. What can I say about tumbley's current funky lil dude that someone else hasn't said better? He's a hilarious, layered, confusing little tragedy. The change from laughter to sorrow can come so quick. His life is hell. His life is *on sale, 1.99 or no money back!!!!!!* He knows so much but cannot tell. I'm not up to date on theories, but if his sadness is Gaster originated, I'm gonna throw hands!! Holy, holey hands!!! Literally, metaphorically, spiritually, technically, *Finally, the vacay you've always dreamed of!!!!* Let the little rat alone! Or give him something less cryptic if ur gonna help and leave, dangit!! Stars, I hope we can bring him back.

dont really have one, tbh!! he just kinda Exists for me, he's a plot tool n das it sorta deal. so i'm rather confused by the fandom's apparent thirst for him? might be because of the concentrated boomer essence within me or cuz my type is polar opposite of whatever is goin on with Him but i find him repulsive rather than hot or whatevs

i was also one of those peeps who doubted his credibility when it comes to bein A Person. i legit thought for the longest time that he was just some kind of spell of WBS' or smth alike of that (in FT he IS a piece of her skull that came to life so yanno 👁 im a fan of questioning what it takes to be a person)

when it comes to his canonical story the things i find most interestin with him is who did he serve before WBS cuz id like to know if the place really was in heaven or if it was somewhere on earth n also if the emperor ruler guy had any name n all that... i really miss more concrete world building in this show, man.. but also his situation after WBS takes out those spirit things outta him to possess SWK. like was he that strong that she had to pump him with all that shit.. n also the drastic difference between unpossessed mayor n unpossessed host are interesting- like i lowkey wanna study the seemingly "insanity" effect WBS' possession has on a being. obviously it has smth to do with the time he spent under her control but what exactly happened there? was his sanity sapped away, was his original soul booted out of the body or was it devoured by the WBS stuff like there's so much "Fun" that could've gone down there

I liked her, I love Katharine Isabelle and I feel like she fit the vibe of the show. I was disappointed that she wasn't a butch lesbian like in the book - I know Fuller's reasoning was wanting to avoid the transphobic tropes in the book, but like, he could've done that while keeping her butch lol, I feel like his actual reasoning is that he just likes these hyperstyled feminine characters lbr.

Was not a fan of the had to fuck Will to get pregnant to get medically abused storyline either, it's the biggest dsappointment of season 2. I wasn't as upset about it as some people, but yk, it wasn't great fam.

Overall though I think she's a fun character, love her blase attitude towards Hannibal, love when she finally kills Mason, love that she hooks up with the former het love interest lmao, I find her solidly enjoyable.

Alana:

I think she's interesting, though she was stifled in her love interest role in the first two seasons. I like that in season 1+2 her biggest flaw was woobifying Will lmao and basically not treating him as someone with agency, I like that she's self aware about her tendency to fall for dudes in distress but still ends up hooking up with Hannibal after he nearly gets murdered lmao. I like her perturbed outside pov on Hannigram. Loooove that she ends up married to a woman. Love her development in season 3 in general, don't think it needed to be justified by ~bone marrow in her blood~ but w/e I've whined about that before lol. Oh and I love that she's basically Hannibal's nemesis now, and specifically started working at the BSHCI to guard him herself, it's fucked up and interesting.

Abigail:

I'm pretty meh on her honestly, she's fine but she's not that interesting to me, I'm not really into the murder family thing, and she's most interesting as a plot device to bring hannigram together and tear them apart as far as I'm concerned.

Bedelia:

Adore her lmao. I love that she's constantly a little contemptuous of Hannibal yet fascinated by him, was so pleasantly surprised at how she turned out to be manipulating Hannibal in Italy when, after the first episode of s3, I was fully expecting her to just be a damsel. Bedelia getting high and lying to Jack and Will was one of the best scenes of the show. Loooove her ridiculous over the top dialogue. Love her crushing the bird speech (the bird is Hannibal). Love her shift from Will's ally in season 2 to also contemptuous of him. I think the fact that so many people assumed Bedelia cut off her own leg in the post credits finale scene is hilarious and unfortunate and shows that a lot of people completely misunderstand her.

But tbf the show actively obfuscates everything so yk.

Freddie:

Fave. Looooove her. Hope she makes millions off her murder husbands book, she deserves to live a long and happy life. Love how Hannibal kept calling her rude and she slipped neatly by him anyway. Love how she's kind of Will's nemesis lol, in a much pettier, funnier way than Alana is Hannibal's.

Molly:

She's fine. She's a good down to earth element that the show was crying for lol. Loved her final girl style escape from Dolarhyde. Love that she just knows Hannibal sent him after her like the bitchy ex he is. Love that she peaced the fuck out.

Bev:

Fine, also down to earth which was great, the 2nd half of season 2 was sorely lacking in the vibe she provided. Her death was a little eyeroll worthy, which was unfortunate, she deserved to go out in a more badass way imo.

Bella:

Quite like her, love Hannibal's respect for her (the fact that he even flipped a coin says volumes tbh,though I also think Hannibal would've responded that way to most people, it's still a great scene), love that she slapped him, think she was kind of shitty to Jack in not telling him about the cancer for so long lol but I also get it and empathize with that choice, think she was incredibly shitty to try to kill herself in front of Hannibal but in like, an interesting way lol (even though it was probably just plot convenience writing-wise). Love Gina Torres in general.

TBH thy can both be interestin! personally i find creative naming a lot of fun! tho honestly i also like the idea of coming up with a very strictly structured naming convention, but tht would be more 4 like a single fanclan sort of thing i wouldnt follow it otherwise....... the traditional naming rulez ive seen tht ppl say r from the bookz alwayz seemz wildly arbitrary which. most evrything is so whtevr but whn ppl act like itz gotta be followed bcuz bookz like im rolling my eyez

I don't know why I'm so gun-ho tonight beating random games I've never heard of before but we're two for two today :P

And this one is ALSO sick!

Now to belittle the win just a touch- I did switch to 'easy' after a quick test run because I was enjoying myself but was also eating and wanted to relax on a potential god run.

This was undoubtedly a god run, at least for the difficulty lol.

So no I didn't rampage through a roguelike by the burning fire of my honed skill or anything- but I still had to try! I still nearly died a few times!

And it was fun! So THERE!

But yeah, Beacon, this game is pretty sick.

I'll admit fully, the rest of the game- even the other boss I fought- were a touch more visually interesting than this final one. I have a similar feeling about Risk of Rain 2's main boss tbh- so don't judge too harshly here.

I'm generally not a roguelike fan, not because the concepts don't gel with my interests, but because the loop often grates on me and makes me feel like I'm stuck never progressing (and roguelikes love copying Binding by having all loot bind-on-pickup and not tell you what loot does until AFTER you have it >:( )- but this one checks out :)

I won't dwell on the whys too much, but I will say I dig the bit of the story I caught and I really dig the mutation system for making subsequent runs interestin'.

The story from what I gleamed with minimal logs found is "Our main character Freja has crashed and died on an alien planet, but she had a clone bay which continuously clones her when she dies so each clone is pushing deeper into this land to find a way back to civilization"

I dig the concept of clones, I dig the main character from what I read, and I dig how it plays into the mutations.

Speaking of- the mutations are more or less the character customization + RNG for subsequent runs. As you fight you'll find DNA samples and when you finish a run or lose you see your genome in the clone machine and you can mix and match the DNA as you see fit.

The DNA at face value are strictly stat changes.

+5 speed -20 resistance

that kinda thing. But when you start the run each segment of the genome is checked and has a chance to mutate adding a much more interesting special effect like replacing your legs with tesla robo legs that make your dodge into an electric dash, or your arm mutating to end in a flamethrower instead of a hand.

It's a touch zany- and the descriptions are about a notch away from 'BRUTAL' which I enjoy :P

And if you get a mutation you like or dislike then on the next run you can increase or decrease the duration of that mutation persisting on that segment of your genome (or just remove the segment altogether).

It's neat. Game's fun.

If you want a cool roguelike to add to your collection then get this on top of Hades, Hades being my favorite of all time, but this being really cool, fun, and worth the money assuming you didn't get it in the bundle-

Speaking of- this is Beacon by monothetic- included in some itch.io bundles like the BLM one I believe from last year.

i havent gotten too far into the show so far, but i'm already attached to both joey jeremiah and rick munro .

as i started tng first i already knew about joey a bit, but i was a little bit surprised to find out how immature he really was . it was a stark change from watching him try to figure out how to take care of a mentally ill teenager tbh . it was welcome, for the most part . i like how he matured from the start of djh to tng . i think he's very very compellin as a character n i feel for him a lot

rick i know less about . i was worried because he shares the name of another degrassi character . yknow the one . but instead i got a sean cameron-esque bad boy character with a bad family life . i think he's sweet ! i adore his friendship with joey even if it only really lasted that one episode . idk idk somethin about characters that joey saved from abusive fathers /j

the next generation is a . long show . i'm splittin this into diff eras to really be able to choose favorites from tee bee aych . i dont think it would be fair if i excluded characters jus bc there were too many of them . my faves, though, would have to b ellie nash, sean cameron, jt yorke, n craig manning

ellie is . interestin . shes introduced as an outcast goth girl that starts as a friend for ashley at first but then develops a lot throughout the series . she goes through a lot of serious issues that i think degrassi handled well . shes also jus a fun character to watch n someone you want to root for !

sean is very trouble . much like rick, hes a troubled youth, but he has a heart of gold . whenever he gets into trouble or makes a mistake in his mind he always seems to immediately regret it . he lives with his older brother and is very protective over the people he cares about .

jt ! jt . hes funny !! he lived, he died . if i talk ab him more i WILL cry .

craig......look . craig is not a good person . hes a very flawed character and most of his issues stem from issues relating to his problems with his family . its important that we, as viewers, know that craig was abused (resulting in trust issue . he thinks everyone will soon become bored of him and tries to hold onto something new that seems more interested, hence all of the cheating) and that he is bipolar . while these dont excuse his actions they do give the viewers some understanding as to why he could be like this . i think hes charming and hes just...layered . there are so many things to take into account and to look into with him that its just hard NOT to love him
