HEY ASH I CAME WITH THE FOOD Please give us wholesome tattoo artist Deku/feral flower shop owner Bakugou AU please please please your ideas are so good
YAYYY- you submitted a post pft but that's fine, this actually works pretty well
but wholesome goth boy x feral flower boy YES YES YES I LOVE THIS ALREADY, AU UNDER THE CUT
let's start off with izuku.
he owns a small (but very well known) tattoo parlor in the city he lives in. he majored in art in college and has been doodling since he was in middle school so he has notebooks just calk full of designs and sketches for tattoos that he tears pages from to put up around the shop.
the only design he doesn't have just aimlessly floating around is this one that's extremely important to him since he won an art contest with it in his freshman year of high school (it started him on his path to being an artist) and it's framed and hung on the wall behind the counter
the said design was a sort of couples pairing (meant to be put on the insides of one's wrist and a bit of their forearm and when two people pressed their wrists together side by side it would match up. it could be described as a very intricate and detailed drawing of two roses that branch off the same steam in the middle of the tattoo, and the steam wrapped around the two roses in a spiral that was covered with thorns and leaves but it never touched the two roses.
anyways, izuku never did that design on anyone no matter how many couples that'd ask if he'd do it. it was just his own sort of personal thing, and he was saving it to do it on himself and his soulmate (if he ever found them)
so that's that, people would come and they could choose any other of his original designs around the shop (or bring in their own) and he'd happily give it to them. though he dressed in dark clothes and had dozens of tattoos, making him look like a bit of a tough/mean person, he was actually one of the nicest shop owners in town. everyone was always so surprised when they heard him start rambling on about his designs then get embarrassed as he caught himself doing so, honestly, it was adorable and everyone thought so.
now, on to katsuki.
katsuki runs a flower shop right across the street from Izuku, he opened only a month ago (bc he just moved here) and it was already starting to get popular.
now, Katsuki wasn't exactly a k i n d shop owner. he wore soft pastel colors a lot but he was big and muscly and had clear tattoos on his neck and upper arms which made him look like a sort of- soft thug? but he was very much feral. he'd call his customers extras and often give regulars nicknames. such as one girl he nicknamed 'bubble gum' because she wore a lot of pink and had pink hair, she'd come to buy flowers for their girlfriend often.
even though he's mean, god does he have the most beautiful arrangements of flowers. so the people that live in the city look past all his grumpiness (some even find it kinda charming and manage to get to know him a bit better.)
plus, there's one specific thing that he has that almost no other plain flower shop sells. black roses.
no one exactly knows how he always gets his hands on them, due to the price and rarity, but he always somehow has a few carefully placed black as night roses in a vase on the counter.
how did the two meet/get together?
well, remember those black roses? a certain perky little goth boy happens to absolutely adore them. honestly he really just loves roses but the black ones draw him in due to them being well, goth.
so, izuku skips over to katsuki's shop every week or so and his visits are always in the morning right when the shop opens so izuku can open his right after. since he visits in the morning, he always has to deal with an even more grumpy morning katsuki, but he doesn't mind at all. he comes in, perky as ever, and cheerfully hops to the counter to order the same thing each time.
"One black rose please, Baka- Baku.. Kat-katchu- uh.. oh lord I'm so sorry, uhm.. oh! How bout Kacchan? Yeah! One black rose please, Kacchan!"
"...'Kacchan'?! Really?! Who the fuck do you think you are?!"
"I'm Midoriya! Izuku Midoriya, Heh!"
"If that's spelled how I'd guess it is, wouldn't it be kinda similar to 'useless'?"
"I uh- uhm, I suppose so..?"
"Let's see here.. useless little goth boy... hm..."
"Wha-"
"Oh I know. Deku."
"D-deku? You're really gonna call me that?"
"Yeah. Gotta problem with it, nerd?!"
"No!- No... I guess not-"
"Good, now take your rose and leave."
"A-alright... thanks... Kacchan!"
and that's that. izuku learns to get used to katsuki's teasing and nicknames, and katsuki decides to just ignore the fact that he's being called 'kacchan', such a petname like nickname, by a complete stranger
at one point, katsuki asked why izuku always came to get a new black rose every week and izuku simply gave an embarrassed laugh and explained that:
"well... i uh just really like these..! they're so pretty don't you think? plus I put the one I get every week into a vase of water and use it as a uh reference for tattoos..."
"and you need a new one every damn week?!"
"ahaha- well- i'm uh... not the best at flower keeping... plus they're much prettier fresh, you know?"
katsuki rolled his eyes at the explanation, truth be told izuku just didn't want to admit he wanted an excuse to come see the blond every week. though izuku wasn't alone, katsuki didn't say anything else because HE honestly also enjoyed the greenette coming to his shop
anyways I'm getting way too invested in this so let's wrap it up
katsuki and izuku get to know each other a bit better as they go to each other's shops. one time katsuki went to izuku's shop to get a back tattoo (that took fucking hours) so they had PLENTY of time to have an actual conversation for once and they actually had some pretty deep ones, it ended with katsuki begrudgingly pointing out the framed tattoo design, commenting on how pretty and detailed it was. of course, izuku went on a small flustered ramble about it before getting stopped by katsuki laughing and telling him to "calm down there, pretty boy." honestly just making izuku more flustered with katsuki finding it amusing as fuck. he ended up scribbling down his number quickly on a stray piece of paper to hand to izuku before heading out the shop with his classic smirk.
and shit happened yada yada yada got to know each other a bit more through text and izuku ended up asking katsuki out on a date at one point. so katsuki showed up at izuku apartment on the night of the date with a whole bouquet of black roses for his goth boy.
they decided to try a relationship and it ended up getting pretty serious. one day izuku dragged his boyfriend over to his shop and forced him to sit down so he could start working on getting his important design onto the two of them.
"Wait- really?! With me?! You sure, Deku..?"
"Yes, I'm sure. Now shut up and stay still so I can do this right, dummy-"
and that's where i'm ending it all so I don't kill you guys with reading PFT (I could go so much more in-depth tho)

Strategies for Everyone Who wants to Get started a Outfits Model
youtube
how to start a clothing brand
In this article are some recommendations to any person ready to or contemplating about launching their own clothing line.
Tip # 1. Will not Hurry
What I suggest by this really is just take your time and effort when it comes to the start of the line. There may be a lot of competitors around today, creating some social websites webpages having a t-shirt coming soon is not about to slice it. Have you at any time obtained excited about a Fb site with 12 likes and "a contemporary new clothes model coming soon"in the about me area? Me neither.
Idea # 2. If you cannot design and style, then shell out someone who can.
A lot of road wear start-ups launch their brand with just their identify in the script font, display screen printed on the black t-shirt. Now I am all for supporting a brand name, but you have to have to not less than put some imagined and creative imagination into your outfits, normally men and women will see you are the same as the rest of the garments models that have began and unsuccessful. If you cannot draw or design and style, pay a person who can. You're likely to want sound types if you need to stand out and it doesn't have to be high-priced. An excellent web-site for structure operate is named Designcrowd. This page makes it possible for you to submit your design and style temporary, established your finances, then wait for designers from all around the planet to submit their entry so you can pick the ideal just one.
Tip # 3 Never rip-off other people!
Just about every model really wants to be as prosperous as Obey, Stussy and Hype, but blatantly copying their suggestions, design and ripping off their types will not be planning to get you there. Actually, It can be much more likely to have a terrible impact due to the fact these models are well known, highly regarded and their thousands of fans will know that your clothing models usually are not authentic.
Idea # 4 Assume exterior the box.
You've got in all probability read this indicating ahead of and although it is much less difficult mentioned then finished, a fantastic way to start out would be to do a good little bit of investigation to gather your personal ideas. Inquire your self what sort of apparel do I would like to generate? What are my favorite makes? What do I appreciate in everyday life? After you know the solutions to these issues you then can begin to study models, jot down strategies, take images and doodle to actually construct a picture of the sort of avenue wear merchandise you wish your manufacturer being making. But make sure you do not disregard suggestion variety a few though carrying out your exploration!
Tip # 5 Study your solution.
Since you might have a couple of layouts or suggestions that you would like to see printed on a t-shirt, it truly is the perfect time to take a look at what company you are going to use to provide your blanks. There are numerous organizations which make blank garments all set for printing so this part might be a bit too much to handle, but selecting your spending plan and who your goal current market is will really assistance to slender down the selection.
Gildan and Fruit from the loom are on the cheapest conclude of your scale however they are likely to have a boxier in shape and you are not most likely to seek out quite a few respected apparel brand names printing on them.
Tultex and Anvil print a great good quality tee for the fair rate if you need a high-quality feel but your finances will not likely extend to highly-priced blanks.
And in the larger stop are American Apparel and Choice Apparel. Even though these is going to be high-priced, the standard is outstanding and so they also carry a variety of colors and products that can make your brand name stick out from the rest.
Suggestion # 6 Will not lower corners.
If you would like being taken very seriously being a brand name, creation is the a single location you are doing not desire to rush or lower corners. To begin with, select a great printing corporation. It's going to cost you a lot much more time, income and energy within the prolonged run should you elect to print using a person in his bed room who prints your styles wonky and receives chocolate stains on your own t-shirts although he's printing them.
You could find many trustworthy firms by typing in "Screen printers" in Google, and do not ignore to buy all over. Octomuffin and Woven Inc are rated highly during the Uk.
Next, take into consideration your manufacturer picture. Are you interested in to generally be thought of as a qualified brand? When you do, then your intending to want tailor made neck labels, swing tags and some neat packaging. This doesn't ought to be pricey, but small touches like that may possess a long lasting impression over a buyer.
And lastly, will not print a lot of. Once you very first launch a style and design, you'll have no clue how it will market, so it truly is ideal to purchase a lesser quantity to start with to check the h2o. Never get worried about selling out swiftly, it's going to make your model look well-liked in case you do and you simply can generally just re-order a lot more.
Suggestion # seven Web site, and pics.
You don't need a large finances to help make an excellent wanting and practical internet site, there are numerous e-commerce platforms readily available now which provide great searching web-sites for the low month to month price. Major cartel, keep envy, volusion and shopify are just the tip of your iceberg with regards to these.
As soon as you have selected your web system, invest in a site. Domains are so affordable nowadays apparel makes have no justification never to obtain one, and it makes you glimpse a great deal of extra experienced any time you come to launch.
Now you're ready to upload your goods and images. It is important to create guaranteed you obtain some experienced seeking photographs taken of your merchandise and never types which appear like they may have been taken on a three mega pixel mobile phone digital camera. Your shots would be the only way your buyers can interact with your merchandise about the internet, in the event the photos are modest, blurry or usually do not show enough of your merchandise element, you're probable to not have a sale.
Suggestion # eight And now we wait around.
Once you first start, the thrill may be just a little much too considerably and you happen to be very likely to get expecting big factors in inside of a quick duration of time. Try out to remain grounded, matters choose time, lots of time, so don't get disheartened for those who have not bought out within your first thirty day period and just keep likely. It is really also a great idea to try and get suggestions from friends and family to determine should the products and solutions are actually nearly as good when you consider they are.
And that is it, I actually hope your uncovered this short article interesting and hopefully just a little beneficial, as I mentioned before I am not an expert while in the street put on market, but all those are only a few of the things I have learnt alongside just how.

hello friends !! my name is jada, and...i’m so excited to meet you all !! this is my absolute heart and soul zhao chenglei, one of the newest additions to the legacy family !! i am actually...so stoked to be here, this group looks so cool !! i look forward to meeting you all, but i’m going to jump straight into things ! chenglei / lei is 20, a dance fanatic, and a lovebug ! you can find his info as well as a few connection ideas below,  and his profile here !! the other pages are wip, but i’m sure we can figure something out from there !! oh, and don’t forget to like this if my boy’s caught your eye and you’d like to plot together !!
alright so !! he’s from hong kong, and born to a mom who was a model for a popular skincare company and a father who’s an anesthesiologist !!
his parents are quite ambitious & his name means “become great” since as their first child, they had high hopes !! he’s often called lei for short around friends.
his mom wanted him to follow in her footsteps so for the early part of his life she was obsessed with booking him baby modeling & acting gigs!! he was in a few commercials and an extra in some small shows, but didn’t gain much fame from it.
his family is originally from mainland china (which is why he’s pretty good at mandarin) but moved when he was born because they liked the atmosphere for him better ! also his mom started getting more opportunities to work there and rather than keep traveling when she had a newborn the whole family packed up and left !
to say the least he was raised pretty comfortably !!! his parents had a lot of influence in their respective fields and he lived well, always getting the things he asked for & such !
but honestly, he’s not the type of person that is obsessed money but that’s probably because he’s used to it? like ofc it’s nice to have, but he’d be perfectly fine living a normal life.
his parents don’t feel the same, they’re very invested in getting & keeping money, so they would always get mad bc he had a tendency of giving his friends things if they didn’t have it !!
he’s been really adamant on creating his own lifestyle recently though, so is trying to make his own name for himself & make his own money instead of relying on his parents forever.
he went to a private school in the city, which is where he learned english. it was widely spoken where he was anyways, but there were some exchange students who helped him too.
also totally irrelevant headcanon but one of the students he became close with was australian & he traveled there in high school, so when he speaks english he’s a bit influenced by the accent !!
a dancing machine for real !! first got into dance 1t 5 when his mom thought it’d be cute for him to do ballet?? he hated it only because his friends made fun of him for it, but the more time he spent doing it the more he was kind of like...oh !! this is kinda nice !!
and then he fell in love with it, and to this day ballet remains his favorite type of dance. the older he got though he took more classes, and eventually joined a competitive dance team the city had !
he first got interested in kpop by a few friends in middle school, and that reflected onto his love for dancing! he began learning all the dances he could, and the more he saw them the more he felt he could turn his love for dance into a real dream.
long story short, his parents were v unhappy to hear he wanted to be in such a risky career, but after constant begging allowed him to audition! they promised thinking that he wouldn’t make it past first cuts, but when he did they were very shocked and kind of just in awe let him start training??
his first few months training were a huge struggle to face. right off the bat he could hardly speak korean, and it’s when reality really set in ?? as much as he said he wasn’t dependent on his wealth it was a big adjustment to go from his life in hong kong to living in dorms with other trainees. it was just...wild!!
not to mention chenglei can be an introvert when in situations he doesn’t know people in,  so he was probably really quiet at the beginning !!
but he definitely opens up once he becomes comfortable around others. he’s still on the quieter side, but definitely v sweet and even a little mischevious around the ones he’s close too !! so by now it can be assumed he’s this way around the trainees he encounters often.
but when he’s in work mode ?? totally different lei !!! he takes training very seriously, takes staff criticism hard, and just kind of beats himself up to work harder !! not the best method, but if one thing’s for sure it’s that he serious about improving and doesn’t put anything above that when it’s time to get serious.
and performing lei !! also very different. he’s definitely a worrier all the moments leading up to performance, but becomes some confident dancing machine when he gets on stage ! he doesn’t worry about looking too weird, just focuses on delivering a powerful performance. very different than his usual self !
he’s currently in his 2nd year as a university student, and it is h-a-r-d !! since he practically goes straight from school to practice, he’s burnt out 80% of the time and lives off of coffee and a prayer.
oh in terms of languages !! he speaks cantonese as his native tongue, learned mandarin through talking with his family in the mainland,  learned english through school, and is still actively learning korean ! he’s only completely fluent in cantonese, but learns korean the most out of all of them on a day-to-day basis.
he’s a little creative boy !! lovesloves to draw and paint and you can always catch him doodling things that went on during the day if he’s bored !!
also plays piano, which he was kind of forced into by his parents lmao ?? but it’s always a plus when he mentions it and it’s fun to play.
he’s quite a softy?? especially for a guy, he’s very affectionate, v loyal, and always looking out for his friends in any way he can ! it probably comes from his dad always being off at work, and his mom ( who is the more nurturing of the two ) being the most present, so he took after her and is very caring & sweet !
i’m not gonna lie...he’s a little bit of an eboy ?? let the sighs of shame arise lmao !! but honestly he’s like if an eboy & art hoe had a baby, but who’s also soft ?? the chaos !
he’s also a bilie eilish supremacist ?? don’t know how that happened since i don’t even stan her that much myslf ?? but like....if you couldn’t tell from his audition video he loves her & will cover each and every of her videos
he’s a baby pan !! he hasn’t really “come out” officially to his friends per se, but has vaguely expressed interest for something outside of a relationship with just girls ! he’s terrified to tell his parents & if he ever will...who knows !! but he’ll become more comfortable with his sexuality soon enough, at least.
his end goal, well semi-end goal, is to become a choreographer !! he wants to be an idol / dancer above all things, but he knows that career won’t last forever so he hopes when he gets out of it to help others achieve their dreams !! he’s very strong on the belief that what’s given to you must be paid back, so he wants to show his appreciation for his eventual debut by helping others reach theirs, too !!
i think i’ve talked waaaay too much already, so...let’s move onto some quick plot ideas !! i promise i’ll have a legitimate plots page soon. xx
maybe some awkardness ? maybe lei thought he was helping this muse out by giving them presents & money, but they took it a different way as him flaunting his money or treating them like a charity case ? i think it could be interesting !
another foreigner ?? the classic helping each other out duo, but i think it could be really important for the both of them considering they’re still trainees navigating a new country together !
a senior he really admires ? even though they’re all trainees, lei treats those more experienced than him with lots of respect, so he’d probably do everything he could to learn from & get on their good side ! maybe a cute friendship could develop out of it !
on the flip side, someone younger / he’s senior to he can baby ! he’s kind of used to being babied around, but he tends to become a lot more protective & caring over those under him ! please give him someone to spoil & instill confidence in pls thanks
sibling-like friends ?? i need someone he can just be silly with, ruffle a few feathers with, and even have the occasional dispute, but in the end they’ve gotten really close and no one can mess with one without the other ready for a fight !
maybe lei’s got a boy / nb crush he wasn’t expecting ?? he’s a softie so i think it’d be adorable for him to have a little crush on someone, requited or not !
university students rise !! give my boy someone else to share his pain with and complain about how it’s impossible to get good grades and have good evaluations !!
little competition !! he’s mainly a dancer, though he also sings, so i think it’d be fun to have someone he competes with & is often compared to ! maybe they’re actually really close and help each other, maybe they’re true rivals trying to bring each other down !

Cold As Ice
Summary: In your school, you’re the most coldest, hateful person. Everyone disliked you and hates to be around your dark vibe...expect for this one person? Why is that? Why does this dork keep smiling at you and saying hi?
Part 1:
Tumblr media
“I said move, freak!” You shoved some lower classman who obviously wasn’t going to stand up for himself. Some bystanders went to go help him up, as you walked passed you could hear the mutters and cruel curses thrown around. You didn’t really care though, you never did.
As you settled into your empty seat, more like empty row – since no one wanted to sit with you or around you – you placed your feet across the other seat while having your back against the support of another empty desk. You eyed your classmates who were giggling amongst themselves and talking about some irrelevant topic. Feeling a little out of place, you pulled out your most prized possession from you desk, a book.
Not just any book. ‘The Women In White’ that is, a very lengthy mysterious novel written by, Wilkie Collins. This was a new novel you started to read after that other from last summer. You started to continue from where you left off, and even though people who usually read a lot are often proceeded as bookworms or nerds. Not you, everyone knew you liked to read and in fact they encourage that. Whenever you had a book in hand, it’s like that book or novel kept you from teasing and exploiting others. Everyone knew not to interrupt you’re reading, unless they wanted to get tossed in a trash can.
“Hi. Is that seat taken?”
Now normally, hearing some unknown almost smooth sounding voice would capture you’re attention so you could see who wanted to interrupt your reading. But you were too invested with reading that you didn’t bother to see who it was and kept your eyes on the words on page. So you replied with no emotion.
“Yes, it’s taken by my feet.”
“Well, can they please move? Class is almost starting and I want to sit here.”
“Sit somewhere else kid.” You flipped a page without giving a glance.
Students were looking over at what was happening. They whispered to themselves. What was this kids doing? There were other seats away from you that he could take..so why this seat?
“What cha reading there?”
“It’s called, none of your business. Now go away while I’m asking nicely.”
Answered with silence, you smirked to yourself. You could hear the footsteps almost walk away. Then suddenly, the desk that was supporting your back to lay down, was moving. You sat up straight and saw the random kid take the seat next to you. The others were having a blast to see someone stand up to you.
“What do you think you’re doing?”
“Taking a seat for class.”
Before you can respond the teacher walked in and everyone settled down. The teacher began with a ‘good morning’ and went right into talking about notes and constructing a two page essay. Something you didn’t really care about. You tried hard not to steal glances at this kid but, you just had to look once more.
Okay, this ‘kid’ was obviously attractive. You can tell from his soft, fluffy looking hair that he was probably one of those boys who gets away with anything at school. You rolled your eyes and started doodling random drawings into your notebook.
“Wow...you’re really good.”
“Tha–.” Catching yourself from thanking this creep, you turned your head and finished him off. “What the...mind your own business freak.”
“I was just giving you a compliment. Your drawings are nice. I doodle too.”
“I don’t care.”
He smiles softly at you, and flips to the back of his notebook to show you his..unique stick figure drawings. If you hadn’t known any better, you’d say you actually chuckled a little seeing those third grade stick figure drawings.
“I’m Vernon.” He smiles once again.
“Why are you smiling at me?”
“I’m being friendly, to start that I have to smile.”
You scoff at his answer and return to doodling. Class goes by just like that, the bell rings and as everyone leaves first you were asked to stay behind by your teacher.
“What did I do now, Mr.Kim?”
“I’m concerned about your grades, especially in my class. You missed three assignments.”
You shrugged at his answer. You never really cared much about your grades because, well you already knew you’re future. Pursuing street art...it’s not a college course sure but, you rather have a realistic future than one that puts false hope.
“I’m assigning you a tutor. For now, at least, he’s one of my top students.”
“I don’t need convincing, who’s my tutor?”
The teacher motioned his eyes to the person standing a few feet behind you. Now you knew why that weirdo was smiling at you, he knew this was going to happen.
“Hi, I’m Vernon and I’m your new tutor.”
“You’ve got to be kidding me.” You sighed.
Since then, every Tuesday, Thursday and sometimes even Friday nights you both would meet up and study for two and a half hours. At first you didn’t really let it bother but, it started getting annoying when you had make up an excuse as to why you guys couldn’t study at your house.
“I’m just saying, it be nice if we didn’t study at my place or at this cafe for once.” Vernon said while handing you your iced coffee order.
“I’m just saying, it be nice if you got my coffee order right for once.” You take a sip of the cold drink and just then you wanted to take back your words. The grin on his face says it all.
“One iced mocha latte with one shot of vanilla, with extra whip cream and chocolate drizzle. I never get anything wrong, y/n.” He winks.
You rolled your eyes, ignoring his playful wink that made your heart skip a beat. Over the past two weeks, you two had gotten a bit closer than first time meeting each other but, you wouldn’t say you were bestfriends either. You actually liked having Vernon around. He was goofy yet chill to be with. He cracked a stupid joke every once in a while and even though it was a corny joke, you sill laughed at them. He also knew when to chill with the jokes and playfulness.
He knows when to not bother you when reading. Sometimes he’ll even ask questions about the book, characters and the plot. He knew that when your deep in thought, you start to doodle flowers. He knew your favorite color is yellow, the complete opposite of how people view you. He also knew you hate the color orange because why name a color the same as a fruit?
It was the little things he knew, stuff no one really knows about you. You hate that, that he’s the only person who knows you this well. But, you couldn’t really complain about it because it’s the same with you. You knew the small things about him too, stuff his friends didn’t even know about him.
“So, why can’t we study at your place?”
“We just can’t.”
“Come on, y/n. What is it?”
“Vernon, just drop it.” Now you were getting annoyed.
“I wanna know. I mean, there’s so much....I don’t know about you.”
“So? What’s it to you?”
“...I’m saying...I want to know more about you.”
Hearing those words were very new to you. You knew that Vernon was a flirty type and you didn’t think anything of it. But, something in his voice and in his eyes, you were getting the feeling he was sincere.
“Just ask the kids at our school then. I’m cold, heartless and I don’t give a shit of what anyone thinks of me.” You shurgged.
Vernon shook his head. “No, not to me.”
“Well, I do care about how one person thinks of me...”
“Really? Who?” He asked trying to mask any hurt in his voice.
You scoffed. Did he really have to ask? He was the only person by your side for the past two weeks. It’s crazy how well you know him and how well he knows you. You never liked people getting to know you or anything but, why was it so different with him? Why did you decide to let someone like Vernon to be in your life.
“....If you really have to ask that, maybe you’re the one that needs a tutor.” You got up from your seat and started walking away. Maybe it was best if you spent some time away from him and him from you. It bruised your ego when you noticed he didn’t stop you from leaving.
Why didn’t he stop you?
Aaaaand that’s it for part 1 lol. I realized I haven’t wrote much of seventeen so expect more from me soon. - Admin Kass

A Cowboy’s Youth
a young arthur drabble!  - suggested by @hopefulhydra
The room was filled with the scent of baked goods, some kind of chocolate or caramel. He couldn’t tell just yet, but knowing his mother was the one making it made him all the happier. Arthur sat up in his creaky bed, wiping the crust from his eyes and the dried drool from the corners of his mouth. He glanced around the room, taking a good look around at all the old toys he’d acquired over the years of being a child, a childhood that was slowly fading as he approached turning fourteen. He was no longer a little kid with time for play, especially now with his father dead and his mother beginning to get sick. He briefly thought about throwing the toys away as he pulled his pants over his gangly legs and threw a loose red shirt over his union-suit, shuffling out of his room into the kitchen.
“Up already? I was gonna surprise you with some chocolate bread!” Beatrice Morgan said, setting the bag of flour she was holding down and going over to hug her son. Arthur sighed at the touch, his mother being his closest friend he’d ever had, besides their dog, maybe. She pulled away, turning back to go finish making the bread. Arthur took a seat at the table, grabbing his journal out and a fresh charcoal pencil he and his mom had bought at the local market after the recent move. His pencil hit the white page, doodling pictures of dogs and bread and flowers, sometimes trying to draw his mom and never getting the hang of it. He often spent his time thinking about how he’d like to become an artist one day, even though he knew it wouldn’t support. Was a nice day dream when the days were too long and nights too cold to sleep. “Have any plans today, Arty?” His mother asked, tilting her head towards him and coughing a bit.
“No, not yet,” He didn’t look up, head still invested in this drawing of a flower he was doing. He’d committed the orange poppy’s look to memory after he’d past it on the ride from his old house in Illinois to his new, smaller cottage in West Virginia. He didn’t have the paints to be able to color it the beautiful orange it truly was, much to his dismay, with shading and a strong imagination, he could see it. “Why?”
“I was wondering if you could head out to the doctors and get me my medicine, the stomach’s been feelin’ extra awful today,”.
“Of course,” The good little kid Arthur was agreed, standing up from his seat and shoving the journal into his leather satchel, a gift he’d gotten from his dad, back when he was still alive and wasn’t totally consumed by the devil’s drink. He went back into his room, grabbing some old socks on and slipping his clunky boots on his feet, groaning at the suddenly tight squeeze brought on by his ever changing body. He knew puberty was normal, but that didn’t make it any less awkward. Walking to the mirror, he smoothed parts of his hair that had become unruly in sleep and popped a few pimples that had been waiting for it, pressing his stubby fingers to the wounds when they started bleeding a bit. Nothing like adding another acne scar to his growing collection to start the day off. With a quick goodbye and a loving kissing to the cheek, he exited the house, eager to help his mama out in any way he could.
“How’s it going, boy?” He walked up to his beloved Helio, his small American Paint his dad had stolen for him a few years ago when he was just starting to learn how to ride. The horse neighed, nodding his head up in the air and into Arthur’s small hands. He nuzzled his snout into Arthur’s face, the boy smiling and pressing a small kiss to the dusty pony’s forehead. Arthur removed Helio’s blankets, replacing them with the tiny saddle he’d got for himself early that year for only three dollars, a bargain he claimed was masterful, but something his mother told him was pretty regular considering the conditions that the saddle was in. Jumping onto the back, he rode off the small dirt path that lead from the cottage to the main road to town. Though only a short distance from home to town, he dreaded having to step out, always a bit afraid that his facial similarities to his father would land him in some heap of trouble.
Arthur pulled into the alley behind the doctor’s office, hitching Helio to a fence and giving him a few pats before he walked into the small building. When he and his mother moved, the only stipulation they had was that they needed to be near a doctor, and when they saw that a cottage was for purchase not too far from the only town with a doctor for miles, they couldn’t believe their luck. Beatrice always said it was like winning the lottery.
“Welcome in, Arthur,” The doctor, Dr. Wilson, said, briefly looking up from his book in his hands. “You come for your mom’s medicine, I assume?”
“Of course, Doctor,” Arthur’s voice was quiet, wavering a bit at the notion at having to talk to others. Although he knew the doc pretty well, his uncomfortable mannerisms never faltered around the man. He waited as the doc took down a drink from his cabinet, checking the label before passing it over to the young boy. “Is four dollars enough?”
“Ah, this time, I suppose so,” The man rolled his eyes, pulling his book up to reach his face and drowning out the world around him.
“Thanks so much, sir,” Arthur yelled on his way out of the store, shoving the medicine in his horse’s satchel and galloping away. He knew that he needed to think about getting a real job soon. Something that could make his mama proud of him, something not like the outlaw life his drunken and depressed father lived. That was his last resort.
Running into the house, he hugged his mother from the back, placing the tonic on the countertop in front of her and let go. She smiled brightly, kissing the top of her son’s head and bringing a plate of bread to the table. The two ate in peace, ignorant to how the world around them was changing ever so quickly. They didn’t need to focus on the bad, only each other as mother and son. The future was coming soon, but they didn’t need to know that.

Concerning Khandeed and Codices
Tumblr media
Photo of the Speculum Alchemae in Prague taken by Alexazul (CC BY-NC-ND 2.0)
Once the little band of adventurers had left with Kandeed in tow, D’lilac went for her linkpearl again as she started digging her way through the stolen equipment. Equipment that they themselves had sought to utilize in their last endeavor, and its theft the source of their financial misfortune these past several moons. Even just looking at it brought back memories the Miqo’te would’ve rather left forgotten to the annuls of time and further darkened her seemingly perpetual dour mood this day.
“I still could have corrrrnered him myself,” she growled as she pried open one of the crates, despite having missed the entirety of the standoff due to reporting in. “We didn’t need the help.”
“Your audacious alpha allegations aside,” Tsunene intoned across the pearl, tapping a finger idly atop the open copy of the Doman picture book she had received from the leve to Kugane prior. “I could not suffer any setbacks in seizing that simpleton, so assistance seemed prudent. And seeing such success substantiates my keen sense of the situation.”
“They’rrre adventurerrrs. They’ll stick their noses in ourrr business,” the Seeker warned, shifting about to keep the linkpearl active while simultaneously trying to peruse the contents of the box before her. “It’s what they do.”
“Hardly,” Tsunene countered as she withdrew a set of colored wax sticks from a drawer. “Once our hardy help have their handout in hand, they’ll have no need to be nosey.” She paused for a beat, drumming a green crayon against the open page of the book. “Unless a certain cohort carelessly caught their curiosity while cavorting about?”
“Harrrdly,” Lilac snapped back, tossing the lid back in place haphazardly and moving onto the next. “All they noticed was apparrrently how ‘angry’ I am.”
“They are not wrong.”
“I’m angrrry because of you! I had this!”
“Mm,” the lady Lalafell murmured in response, obviously not paying much attention – instead adding a bit of color to the Doman picture book with her wax utensil. “On the thought of things you theoretically have, though... has there be any serendipity in your search of the stolen? Or has your ire inconvenienced even your inquiry into the inventory?”
“I’m fine,” the Miqo’te responded grumpily, cracking open a dirty notebook and flipping through the various scribbles and doodles within. “And I don’t see it anywherrre. Got some of Khandeed’s ‘notes,’ though.”
“I am absolutely invested in the inscribed idioms of that idiot.” Tsunene paused to switch to a violet crayon and continue her art. “Do its contents still include the contemptable coarse and crude caricatures of our coworkers?”
“Only the one rrreceptionist girl.” Lilac turned the notebook sideways with a perplexed expression. “And I don’t think herrr curves are quite so… exaggerrrated. Also, I’m fairrrly certain she can speak prrroper common.”
“I am afraid to ask.”
“’Khandeed is smartingest and handingsomest.’”
There was a huff that – for Tsunene – passed as a bark of laughter. But such merriment, no matter how subdued, was short-lived. The Plainsfolk was back on topic with neck-breaking speed.
“As entertaining as his errant elocutions are, they are extraneous to our efforts. Recover my records.”
D’lilac groaned. For a moment, the little Lalafell had almost seemed… tolerable. One of her rare brief flashes of amicability amongst a sea of annoyance and irritation.
“I’m looking,” she insisted, tossing the ratty tome aside to land atop one of the crates she had already searched. “It might not even be herrre.”
“Well, who else would waltz off with my work?”
“The conjurrror?” Lilac retorted with a shrug despite being well-aware it wouldn’t be seen. Or perhaps because of it. “The brat? I mean, the notes concerrrn him, after all.”
For a brief, wonderous moment, Tsunene seemed to be at a loss for words. And, being the hunter that she was at heart, the Seeker was quick to pounce on this moment of weakness. It wasn’t often she got to relish in such opportunity.
“You did think of that, rrrright?”
“Of course I did,” Tsunene snapped, though her hesitation earlier had given her away. “I simply wanted to capture Khandeed and confirm whether or not he carried off my codex before considering the conjuror or the child. Plus, there was the possibility to procure the purloined equipment essential to our efforts.” She set her artistic tools aside and admired her handiwork – have turned the moss-haired monster-turned-hero in Tsubu’s pictures into something much more familiar. “To that end, I am tasking you with transporting all that to the following target location…”
“Me?” the Seeker interjected incredulously, looking about the illicitly furnished cave. “Carrry all this?”
“You had claimed you could handle it, had you not?”
“I meant hunting Khandeed, you know that.”
“And this is purely part and parcel of that plan. Hopefully such a hale hunter can handle such a heavy burden?” Lilac could feel the dry, childing smile through the linkpearl. “While you work, I will wrap things up with our wonderful workers and their well-earned wages.”
“Now just hold on a sec—” Click. The linkpearl shut off with a sharpness and finality that got a wince out of the Miqo’te. She was half-tempted to just call back, but she knew Tsunene wouldn’t answer. She had decided the conversation was over, so it was over. Much to the Seeker’s growling chagrin as she continued to mumble complaints and curses, looking over all the recovered equipment and wondering how in the heck she was going to get it all moved.
At least this was just grunt-work – not that she enjoyed being thought of as a grunt – and not anything overly dangerous. Perhaps she could call in a favor with a couple acquaintances at Scorpion Crossing. They had plenty of porters and – more importantly – ones that knew how to keep their mouths shut. For a price, of course. Such were the ways around Ul’dah, after all…
And it would be not that much later that Lilac would have loved to be hauling around crates and managing porters instead, as she slammed the heavy smithy door shut behind her and assessed the situation.
It had seemed easy enough – she just had to get into the brat’s establishment and snoop around for Tsunene’s codex while the Lalafell had taken to looking into the conjuror. Which, from what the Miqo’te could discern from her accomplice’s annoyingly alliterative accent, might’ve involved having to deal with navigating the dangerous waters that was Ishgardian nobility. Tsunene had made a dig at Lilac’s inability to navigate high society, but the Seeker had actually been a bit grateful for what seemed like the “easier” job.
That was before she had forced the lock – a skill garnered from her less respectable suns – and entered the building. The diminutive owner had departed not long before to deal with some manner of leve regarding pirates or something out in the Yafaemi Saltmoors, leaving the Miqo’te free to take her time with the task. Or so she had thought.
Until that little purple nightmare had made itself known to her and flipped all that on its head. One moment she was checking shelves and crates, the next she was dealing with a tiny porcine whirlwind hellbent on taking her out. And the thing was like tiny voidsent what with all the biting, charging, kicking, and apparently some manner of magic as the beast whipped up tiny pillars of wind – made even more dangerous by the bits of metal and ore that they ensnared – and flung fist-sized burning rocks at her that she wasn’t sure were summoned or just ripped from within the fiery depths of the forge.
Just remembering that sudden chaos as the whole smithy was seemingly turned into a weapon against her, Lilac cast a dejected look at her poor tail. Once tipped with a proud puff of fur, it was now stripped of such simple beauty – the ball of fluff a spoil of war of that tiny hell-spawn. And that wasn’t counting all the bruises and scrapes and burns and other wounds she had suffered in her frantic egress from the place.
At least, she mused as she clutched tightly at her prize and sought to catch her breath, she had got what she had come for – and then some. She could take some solace in that Tsunene would be navigating all that pomp and circumstance in the both the literal and the politically icy lands of Coerthas for naught. Plus, she had managed to make off with a few other of the boy’s things as well. It wasn’t full recompense of the indignities he and the conjuror had imposed on her on that island those many moons ago, but it was a start.
A rather fine leatherworking knife, for one, along with a strange crimson-hued potion hidden behind his Orchestrion that had caught her eye and a couple extra books along with the one Tsunene so fervently wanted back. For as obnoxious as the brat had been, she had to admit he had some good taste as a fellow reader of Doman picture books. They’d make for at least some manner of entertainment while she recovered from this whole endeavor.
For now, though, she just had to get out of here. She wouldn’t put it past that little hellion to come bursting out of a window or something to continue its assault. And the absolute racket the both of them had caused in her escape might’ve caught the attentions of the Brass Blade guards patrolling the area. And her with no gil to pay them off with after having to use her own coin for those Scorpion’s Crossing porters.
Beat up and down on coin once again, along with having to deal with Tsunene being… Tsunene – which was a problem in its own right – D’lilac once again found herself wondering if this was all worth it. Momentarily, at least. Whether it was sunk-cost fallacy or an actual belief that the results of the lady Lalafell’s ambitions would be worth all the pain and effort, the Miqo’te tightened her grip on her prizes and shook her head to dislodge such weak-minded thoughts.
The Seeker would have her moment in the sun soon enough. All she had to do was wait it out.
... And see if the Alchemist’s Guild had any hair growth tonic for her poor tail.

SBS Spotlight: Inner Calling LLC
Our business relies on small business: that is why we came up with the small business spotlight where we select one small business a month to feature on our website and all of our social media platforms.  We like to find small businesses that have been looking for unique ways to stay afloat, businesses powered by passion and not profits.  The businesses where the owners are truly invested in what they have and only want to see their dreams prosper.  We want to support the real small businesses of America.  To be featured as part of our Small Business Spotlight, please reach out to us either by calling or texting 862-803-0225, by emailing us at [email protected], or by visiting us on our website at www.justork.com.  Our own unique way of giving back to the community we serve; the spotlight is a free post to our website blog and social media channels, with additional paid marketing features available as well for extra promotion.
Justork Lifestyle is back with the Small Business Spotlight.  This Saturday we are featuring a self-inspired self-starter. We have the owner of Inner Calling, LLC based out of NJ. Who she is:
"Amanda Nafash is an intuitive career coach who counsels people of all ages and helps them both interview for and discover their inner calling. She believes in finding opportunities to pursue what you love while also bringing out the best in yourself."
You can find my bio and mission statement at our website, www.innercallingllc.com
1.  Hometown / state / country origins:
My hometown is Ringwood, NJ. We have some of the best hiking spots in the world if you ask me ;)
2.  Where are you located now?
I am still local! But I am looking to spend a lot of this next year traveling and working from the road.
3.  Enneagram number:
I never did an enneagram test, but I do see myself changing over the years as I grow and learn to love certain aspects of myself, so even if I did a test last year, I would probably see different results today.
4.  Zodiac sign:
Leo Sun, Sagittarius Moon, Capricorn Rising
5. Wake up / start your day routine:
I start my day with a cup of coffee (despite trying to kick this caffeine addiction.)
6. First job ever:
My first job was babysitting; I got CPR certified at 12 and started watching my cousin and sister and all of their friends.
7. Your best quality / skill:
My best skill is my ability to talk to people- conversation is how I built my business, grew my network, and established a reputation as a professional and student. I thank my Italian family for that!
8.  Worst habit:
My worst habit is the high expectations I have for myself- though they have led me to achieve great things at young ages, they have also been the cause of a lot of stress and negative self- talk. This next phase of my life is dedicated to being more present and being proud of what I have already accomplished.
9.  Introvert or extrovert?
An extrovert who values alone time
10. Business motto - influential motto? Mine is fall down 7, get up 8:
Sooo many favorite mottos, but something I love to remind my clients is "work smarter, not harder"
11.  3 things you love about being self employed:
TIME FREEDOM!! , getting to choose whose opinions get to impact the final business decisions, infusing my own values into every part of my business so I can truly see my mission in every day's work.
12. Favorite holiday:
Small Business Saturday!
13. Favorite small business you admire:
It's very hard to pick one small business, as I tend to surround myself with small business owners and young entrepreneurs,

I love the beach- everything melts away when I am swimming in the ocean or reading a book on the sand.
16.  Next place you wish to travel:
I am hoping to go to Colorado and Louisiana in the next coming year!
17.  2021 personal goals:
My personal goals for the rest of 2021 are to absolutely live it up for my 24th birthday, and expose myself to more art, both man made and in nature.
18.  2021 business goals:
My business goals for the rest of 2021 are to host a vending fair and provide an outlet for other small businesses to succeed, to expand my listening network on my podcast, and to incorporate more networking events into my business.
19.  Best business related purchase:
The best business related purchase I have made was my rebrand and website, which I had done by an up and coming entrepreneur! Her instagram is @everythingbybreckel I highly recommend her for all of your web design needs!
20.  Ideal client:
My ideal client is someone who is open minded. When someone is willing to talk about their loftiest dreams and trust that I will be not only supportive, but also an asset to them achieving  their goals, that's when the magic happens.
21.  Your biggest business related failure:
I've come to realize that success is subjective. My old mindset is crumbling and a new one is taking its place, which I feel is much healthier. When things don't go as planned, I consider it a really important life and business lesson, and I analyze what I learned and how I can adjust from it. Failure is currently being phased out of my vocabulary.
22. A mistake that taught you the most / that you learned from:
A mistake I learned from was assuming that I could tell anyone and everyone about my intentions and plans for my business. I've learned after a year of business that it is sometimes best to keep your plans in a more private circle until they are completed or a little more concrete. Unfortunately not everyone has your best interest in mind. I never was one who understood the "move in silence" mentality, but this year I have definitely seen the positive aspects of it firsthand.
23. How / why you chose to work for yourself:
I chose to work for myself as I was finishing grad school in the height of Covid lockdown. While there were delays with the state in getting applications approved for the LSW exam, I decided to start my own business. Once I started, I couldn't look back. I don't think I'll ever return to a cog-in-the-wheel position.
24. Your entrepreneurial summary / journey to how you got here:
My whole adolescent life I was doing a bunch of odd jobs, so I made connections everywhere I went, and I ended up being the connection for so many of my loved ones to network or get jobs in different places. I love to be a listening ear and a mentor to those around me. I was a social work student from my second semester at community college, and every semester I changed my idea on what I wanted to do in the field. Right before graduating with my Bachelor's degree I was required to do some career readiness through our Career Center on campus, and thus began my love of career coaching and college counseling. I talk a lot about this journey in the first episode of The Inner Calling Podcast.
25. Your biggest win:
My biggest win is hard to pinpoint. I think the greatest feeling was on my one year anniversary with Inner Calling when I reflected on how many of my goals I achieved, and remembering that when I started the business I told myself, "I'll do it for one year. Next year if it doesn't seem like it's working out, or if I don't love it, I'll pack up shop and chalk it up to experience." Now I hit the ground running with plans for year 2. It's going to grow so much more, and so am I. I can't imagine giving up on Inner Calling now.
26.  Advice for new business owners:
New business owners, take those opportunities for help people are offering you! Barter your products and services! Making connections is how you stay alive and successful. We are not in this alone. "It takes a village. . ."
27.  Favorite recipe:
My favorite recipe is for snicker-doodles, I learned how to make them in my high school foods class and they are my favorite thing to make in the winter. They make the whole house smell like butter and cinnamon.
28.  Mac or PC?
Mac

My Number One Fan
Chapter 11 Pairing: JongKey Word Count: 5,284 Summary: Kibum goes to the same, run-down bar every week to watch the man of his affections sing his heart out with a mere guitar for company. He wasn’t expecting the coffee, nor the beautiful personality within the singer. And he definitely wasn’t expecting to fall in love.
A/N: originally posted on @ourshineeshrine
Kibum gave the teacher a hasty glance before returning his gaze back down to the phone within his lap, frowning in worry at the lack of text messages he had received throughout the day. He scolded himself mentally for the umpteenth time that day, vehemently wishing once again that he hadn’t sent that text to Jonghyun. What on earth had he been thinking to send something as improper as that to begin with?
‘I obviously hadn’t been thinking at all.’ his conscience jeered, and Kibum dejectedly turned his phone off and looked back up at the scrawl upon the whiteboard.
Biting his lip, he risked a peak over at Amber, smiling reassuringly at her curious look.
”I’ll tell you about it later.” he mouthed, shooting the girl a thumbs up as she nodded eagerly and turned her head back to the front with reluctance and anticipation.
The lesson seemed to drone on for what felt like a year, and Kibum found himself unconsciously doodling within his notebook as the teacher’s words flew into one ear and spewed immediately out of the other. His pencil glided over the page without thought, and after he had finished he stared at the result with a mixture of glee and embarrassment.
A roughly sketched drawing of Jonghyun’s face now lie upon his paper, and although he took pride in the accuracy of the image, Kibum nonetheless turned the page to prevent anybody sneaking a glance at the singer he happened to fancy. It was humiliating enough to have the older boy not reply to his risqué texts, but for his fellow peers to witness that he’d been daydreaming and drawing another man in class? He just wouldn’t have it.
Seconds ticked by dully, and Kibum’s gaze bore into the clock fiercely in hopes of causing it to move faster. His attempts were futile however, and soon enough Kibum could feel his eyes become heavy with exhaustion and threaten to droop. Before he’d met Jonghyun, it was safe to say that Kibum had a much simpler time paying attention during class, but now it seemed as though the older boy had absorbed all of his attention and there was nothing left to share.
Kibum didn’t mind entirely. Although he did enjoy studying and discovering new things, he certainly didn’t want to be a mathematician or a scientist after graduation. Dance was what intrigued him the most, however the idea of his parents investing in dance classes for him was laughable. And undoubtedly impossible. So Kibum made the most of the studio at school and practiced whenever possible, spending his lunchtimes dancing away his thoughts and worries in lieu of socialising with his fellow peers.
These thoughts were consuming Kibum so profoundly that he didn’t even recognize the persistent tapping on his shoulder until a loud voice sliced through his ears and reverie like a steel blade.
”-rry up, Kibum!” urged Amber, her impatient face appearing clearly before Kibum as his eyes finally managed to focus.
Kibum blinked and looked around himself in a daze. Like expected, the classroom was empty bar from him and Amber. Hurriedly, Kibum began to shuffle his books together in order to speak to the tomboy as soon as possible, however he was halted as a calloused yet gentle hand placed itself on his rounded shoulder.
“No point in going somewhere else. We’ll get more peace in here.” stated Amber with a grin, pulling over a nearby chair and placing it across from Kibum.
Swirling the seat around so the back of it was in front of her, Amber plopped herself onto the chair and rested her head on the backrest in anticipation. “Spill the beans, Kibum. What’s got you in such a stupefied daze?”
Kibum sighed deeply, and looked up at Amber through his lashes with furrowed brows. “I’m so stupid.” he muttered.
Amber quirked an eyebrow with incredulity. “You confessed?”
The older student’s eyes widened and he shook his head vehemently. “God, no. I’m not that stupid.”
“Hey, what else am I meant to think when you say that?” she defended with a whine, crossing her arms over her chest stubbornly. “Seriously though, tell me what’s happened.”
Kibum rolled his eyes at her persistence, yet chewed his bottom lip between his teeth nervously nonetheless. He reached into his pants pocket and plucked out his phone unsurely, raising his gaze to Amber as though he were contemplating something.
“C’mon Kibum!” she urged, almost bouncing on her seat in anticipation. “You can trust me, ‘Bum…we’ve been friends forever. I’m sure it’s not that bad.”
Kibum exhaled with the realization that she was perfectly correct. “I know, I know. Just…let me put it in context for you.”
“…”
“So last night I went to Jonghyun’s house, and because I spent so long there, we ended up falling asleep on the couch together.”
“Kibum, you didn’t do the nasty did you?!” interrupted Amber with a gasp, dramatizing the situation far more than it needed to be.
Kibum laughed and shook his head. “Calm down, Amber. No, I did not do the ‘nasty.’ Anyway, when I woke up this morning I could’ve sworn he was singing or something, I don’t know, but that wasn’t the embarrassing part. My limbs were, like, draped over him like an old rag or something, and when I went to move, he just stopped me!”
Amber clapped her hands together in excitement and leaned even closer to Kibum if possible, resting her chin on her open palm. “You’re getting in there, Kibum! He so likes you!”
Kibum pouted. “I don’t reckon so, Amber. This morning, I thought that he did too! We were being flirty and stuff all morning, and I could’ve sworn he was checking me out at some point. He kept making all these sexual references after I cooked breakfast and—“
“You cooked him breakfast?! Oh my god, Kibum, that’s adorable!” exclaimed Amber joyfully, sitting back down in her seat hurriedly at the pointed glare Kibum was directing at her.
“Is that all you gathered from that?! Did the sexual reference part not pique your interest in the slightest?”
Amber gulped thickly. “It did, it did, I swear! I just thought the cooking part was extra adorable. Please, continue.”
Kibum rolled his eyes but continued nevertheless. “Anyway, so after I cooked, I was all like, “Did you gather anything from that?” as a joke, and out of anything he could’ve replied with, guess what he chose to say.”
“Um, perha—“
“”How to turn someone on, I suppose”!” continued Kibum breathlessly, not even giving Amber the opportunity to respond.
Amber blinked once, then twice. “He really said that?!”
Kibum nodded vigorously, and then without even pausing to take a breath, resumed. “So as you might’ve guessed, I was beyond fangirling at that point. I was practically having a seizure in my brain, and I figured that if he was being all brave and stuff then it wouldn’t hurt if I was too.”
Amber looked intently at Kibum but made no motion to comment.
“And then right before I got out of the car at school, he was joking about being unsatisfied and stuff, so I worked up my nerves after he left and sent probably the worse text I’ve ever conjured in my entire life. Here.” rambled Kibum, unlocking his phone and sliding it over to Amber in order for her to take a read.
The room was completely void of any noise for a few seconds; so silent that Kibum could even hear himself breathing. Finally, Amber rose her gaze to meet Kibum’s and stared into his eyes intently, leaving no warning whatsoever before bursting out into a fit of laughter.
Kibum’s eyes widened considerably, an immediate worrying mask clouding his feline features. “Stop laughing and help me!” he whinged, poking out his bottom lip and quivering it for extra effect.
Amber’s laughter seized but the large smile adorning her face remained inevitably. “I’m sorry ‘Bum, but you’re just too funny. This is pure gold, why are you panicking so much?”
Kibum crossed his arms over his chest and screwed his face up in distaste. “He hasn’t replied since I sent it and the day’s nearly over! I came on too strongly and now he probably thinks I’m a gay freak.”
Amber frowned sympathetically and slid her fingers through Kibum’s in solace. “He does not think that, Kibum. He probably hasn’t even seen the message. Besides, if he didn’t reply because you came on too strong then he’s a hypocritical loser and you should slap his sorry ass. Face, I mean. Don’t slap his ass.”
Kibum offered a brittle smile at Amber’s attempt to enliven the mood; the light not quite reaching his eyes. “Yeah…maybe.”
“Leave it ‘til tonight, and if he hasn’t replied by tomorrow or doesn’t come over, it means he’s probably seen it. But maybe he’s never been a relationship with another guy and doesn’t know how to react.” started Amber, gasping suddenly as though an epiphany had suddenly struck her out of the blue. “Maybe…Maybe he thinks you’re straight and is trying to distance himself because he doesn’t want to get his heart broken!”
Kibum’s smile grew slightly and a glint of joy sparked in his eyes. “You’re looking too far into it! I guess I’ll wait until tomorrow, and then if nothing happens we can start looking into your little theories.”
Amber flashed a broad grin and scratched the back of her neck bashfully. “Sounds good! As of now, however, I’m super hungry. Come eat with my group today.”
Kibum shot Amber a sceptical expression, raising his eyebrow in doubt. “We both know your friends don’t like me.”
“They’re just jealous your fashion is better than theirs. It was worth a try, I guess.”
Kibum laughed and flicked his hair out of his eyes in agreement. “They think I’m gonna steal their man or something? I reckon I’ll pass for today, Amber, but thanks for the offer.”
Amber poked her tongue out and stood up from her chair. “I figured you’d say that. The offer’s always there, Kibum. Catch ya later!”
Kibum waved in farewell and smiled as the tomboy made her way out of the classroom and down the corridor, grin fading slowly once she was out of sight. Looking at his phone once more out of spite, Kibum frowned in expected disappointment and shoved the device back into his pocket with a dejected sigh.
Reluctantly standing from his seat, Kibum followed Amber’s footsteps with a trudge and slowly shuffled his way towards the lockers aimlessly. Offhandedly, he swiped his lunch from his bag and continued on down to the dance studio, poking his head through in greeting once he had arrived. However, a wave of melancholy engulfed his delicate form as his eyes landed upon the empty room, his reflection in the mirror being the only type of company nearby. With a begrudged sigh, Kibum stepped foot inside and closed the door behind him nevertheless, thinking to himself that he should be elated at the lack of presences.
He wasn’t though, and sat down heavily by the mirror with furrowed brows adorning his sharp features whilst twiddling his phone between his long fingers. Kibum chewed on his sandwich half-heartedly with his eyes locked on the bright screen that seemingly glared up onto his pale skin. So preoccupied with the device within his palm, he took no notice of the door opening or the light footsteps which made their way up behind him. The mirror should’ve been a dead giveaway, but Kibum couldn’t be bothered raising his head merely to see how forlorn his expression was.
“Jonghyun, huh?” came the voice of Taemin, and Kibum couldn’t prevent the jeer of ‘deja-vu’ clipping at his memory.
Kibum, with a fright, tilted his phone to the ground and flicked his head to face Taemin. The younger boy, not fazed in the slightest, continued speaking and plopped down beside Kibum without a worry plaguing his youthful face.
“Sorry I wasn’t here earlier; Minho wanted me to check out this new soccer trick he learnt. Anyway—why’ve you got your phone like that, Kibum? Tryna hide something?” he laughed, reaching his hand forward playfully in attempt to snatch Kibum’s phone from the elder’s grip.
Kibum retracted his hand back quickly as though the younger’s touch stung, before smiling lightly at Taemin in defence of his strange actions. Despite his grin of reassurance however, Taemin frowned.
“I was just kidding…but seriously though, what’s wrong?” he questioned carefully, slowly bringing his hand back to rest in his lap whilst giving Kibum’s phone a curious study.
Kibum faltered for a few seconds and fumbled on his words. “N-nothing. I was just a bit shocked, that’s all.”
Taemin quirked an eyebrow dubiously, genuinely not believing an ounce of junk that spilled from Kibum’s mouth. He alternated his gaze between Kibum’s eyes and the phone that lie in the third year’s fisted hand for a few, silent seconds, before out of the blue, he lunged forward and swiped the device from Kibum’s unsuspecting grasp.
“Yah!” Kibum exclaimed furiously, jumping onto his feet hastily in attempt to tackle Taemin to the ground.
It seemed that Taemin was quite swift however, for he had already managed to sprint to the other end of the room with phone in hand, fingers tapping at the screen frantically in hopes of stumbling across the cause of Kibum’s grim mood.
Kibum’s face flushed a bright shade of crimson as he tried feebly to halt Taemin; to no avail it seemed as the younger curled himself up in a ball by the corner of the room with the phone concealed tightly in his clutch. “Seriously, stop! It’s none of your business!”
Taemin furrowed his brows and poked out his tongue in concentration, ignoring Kibum’s cries entirely as his mind became absorbed with the task at hand. “I don’t wanna see you slumping around all day because of some petty thing on your phone.” he defended, eyes all of a sudden jolting wider in delight as they landed upon Jonghyun’s contact name.
Kibum’s hands clenched tightly by his sides and his legs visibly shook in nervousness, looking almost on the verge of tears as a thought of horrific realization invaded his mind. Amber was the only one who knew about Kibum’s infatuation with Jonghyun, and he didn’t think he would be able to cope from the embarrassment if anyone else; especially a newfound friend such a Taemin; found out.
“T-Taemin…nothing’s wrong I swear. You d-don’t need to worry.” he reassured shakily, taking tentative steps forward towards Taemin’s sprawled body without an ounce of amusement clouding his face.
Although Taemin’s features were adorned with an expression of pure, innocent mischief, Kibum was far too worried and anxious to be optimistic and take the situation lightly. Oblivious to Kibum’s desperation however, Taemin continued humorously, voice laced with hearty laughter.
The young dancer grinned, and poked his tongue out at Kibum in cheek. “Tut tut, Kibum. You can’t lie to me!”
Flashing a bright smile, Taemin’s gaze returned to the phone within his hand and he tapped on the name of Kibum’s affection with anticipation. And just like Kibum had expected would happen, an unsettling silence engulfed the room before Taemin’s jaw dropped to the floor in astonishment.  His eyes awkwardly lifted to meet Kibum’s insecure ones, brow furrowing at the sheen of tears that were threatening to fall.
Taemin cleared his throat and, out of respect, turned Kibum’s phone off. “I-I’m sorry.”
An unintelligible sound emitted from Kibum’s throat before he hastily whipped his head around in order to avoid the younger’s intense gaze. Taemin watched the older boy intently, and felt his heart clench in sympathy and repent for what he had intruded on.
“I’m really sorry for invading like that Kibum…I shouldn’t have.” he began unsurely, twiddling his fingers around each other in awkwardness. “If it makes you feel any better…I really don’t mind if you like him like that. I kinda suspected it anyway.”
Kibum slowly peaked back around to take a glance at Taemin, and although his cheeks were slightly stained in dried tears of humiliation, he took solace in the younger’s words and kind smile. “You did?”
Taemin laughed heartily upon the floor, and his eyes crinkled in mirth as he looked at Kibum. “Until yesterday I actually thought you dating him…so yes, I definitely did.”
Kibum’s eyes widened and he looked at Taemin sceptically. “You thought we were dating?!” he exclaimed.
Taemin giggled behind his hand and nodded vehemently. “Oh c’mon, Kibum. All the signs were there, what else was I meant to think? But on a more serious note, what about our little Jonghyun has got you in such a crappy mood?”
Kibum groaned into his palm and sat upon the panelled floor with a heavy thump. “Did you happen to read the last text I sent? I can’t believe I actually did that, I’m so stupid!”
Taemin rose an eyebrow, and reached his hand over to grab Kibum’s phone back off from the ground. Unlocking it swiftly, his eyes skimmed over the last message sent and felt his lips automatically quirk up into a smirk.
“Don’t you dare laugh at this, Lee Taemin.” chided Kibum from his ball on the ground, voice screaming in embarrassment.
Taemin snorted and shook his head in amusement. “What on earth, Kibum? What gave you the courage to send this?”
“I honestly have no idea. We were low key flirting all morning, so I assumed it wouldn’t be that bad if I sent something like this, but…he hasn’t replied all day!” rambled Kibum desperately, voice adapting a whinging tone the more he spoke.
Taemin’s eyebrows rose suggestively, and ignored the woes Kibum spoke of. “So you slept with him last night, then?”
Kibum exhaled loudly in exasperation. “Did you listen to a word I just said? And no, I did not sleep with him. I slept next to him. There’s a difference.”
“I was listening! You guys were flirting all morning, after you slept next to him. Isn’t that the important part here?” defended Taemin, scrambling to his feet before plopping himself down closer to Kibum.
“And the part about him not replying all day?! That didn’t register through your mind at all?”
Taemin breathed out deeply. “Kibum, Kibum, Kibum. You’re the one meant to be giving me advice, not the opposite way around. Listen; when I came over yesterday it was obvious to see that you’re both head over heels for each other. You confirmed that by mentioning the flirting and everything, so you really have nothing to worry about. Besides, it hasn’t even been quarter of a day yet. He probably hasn’t even looked at his phone.”
Kibum screwed up his face and picked at his fingernails in doubt. “You reckon?”
“I know he likes you Kibum. He was looking at you as though you were the moon the whole night.”
Kibum failed in trying to conceal his smile, a slight shade of crimson brushing itself over his sharp cheekbones. “And you sure you’re not grossed out with me liking him and all?”
Taemin smiled in reassurance. “Positive I’m not. It’s pretty cute, if I must say. And I’m pretty sure deep down, Minho agrees too.”
Kibum tilted his head confusedly, and narrowed his eyes in Taemin’s direction. “What the heck have you and Minho been saying about me?”
Taemin threw his head back and laughed loudly, “You don’t wanna know, Kibum. Anyway though, the bell’s about to go and my locker’s on the other side of the school. You better keep me updated about what happens with Jonghyun, and I wish you luck!”
Kibum rolled his eyes and pushed himself up from the ground. “Yeah sure, whatever. If he never replies though, I’m blaming you for getting my hopes up.”
The younger student scoffed as he opened the dance room door, responding with a mere two words as he left the brightly lit room. “You suck.”
The third year student snorted, before picking his phone up off the ground and trailing behind soon after.
As the end of the day approached, Kibum felt his mood noticeably increase because of the talk he’d had with Amber and Taemin. It was as though a gigantic weight had been lifted from his shoulders, and despite the fact that he still inwardly feared what Taemin was thinking as of now, he generally felt so much lighter now that he’d gotten this secret off of his chest.
He made the trek home with a slight bounce in his step, and promised himself that he wouldn’t even take a glance at his phone until he’d reached his house and climbed the stairs to his bedroom. With an earplug resting within his ear, his footsteps synced to the beat of the song playing, and he inwardly noted that it would probably sound much better if Jonghyun were singing it.
Although the idea of that haunting text still plagued his mind, he tried to be optimistic about the subject and think about what Taemin had mentioned instead. Was it true that Jonghyun looked at him as though he was the moon? He had never really noticed it before, but maybe that was because Kibum himself was far too busy admiring the older male in all of his glory when they were together.
Kibum had never really pegged Jonghyun as someone who would be with another guy, but he was rather touchy around Kibum and he definitely didn’t have a filter when it came to flirting and speaking his mind. So many different ideas and theories were easing their way into his thoughts one by one, and before he knew it, he was already trudging up the driveway to his house and unlocking the front door with an audible click.
Hurriedly grabbing an after school snack from the pantry, Kibum clenched his phone tightly within his grasp as he raced upstairs to his vastly decorated bedroom. As he set foot inside, his eyes were immediately drawn to the picture of Jonghyun and him on the wall, and a befitting grin spread over his face in joy. Practically throwing himself onto his bed, he impatiently turned his phone on and hurriedly swiped to his view his messages, chest once again tightening in anticipation for the umpteenth time that afternoon.
Kibum inhaled sharply, and felt his breath catch in his throat. Jonghyun had seemingly replied, and Kibum’s eyes ran over the message as quickly as possible, taking in every aspect of the message as he read it.
I left my phone in the car all day, and I missed out on a message like this? Damn Kibum, I didn’t know you could be so blunt. But I must say…I like it ;)
Now I’m even more excited! See you tomorrow Kibum, I’ll be anticipating it! :’)
Your idol, Jjong x
Kibum’s heart went wild in his chest, and he felt himself grinning so wide in a way that threatened to split his face in two. Rolling onto his stomach, Kibum buried his face into his pillow and screamed loudly, unable to control the overwhelming happiness that had immersed his mind.
He read the message a few more times just to etch it into his mind and confirm he wasn’t dreaming, before turning his phone back off and jumping from his bed. All of the worries that had accumulated throughout the day immediately flew from his mind, and he mentally thanked Amber and Taemin for having faith in Jonghyun and himself despite his doubts.
The older male’s straightforward attitude towards these kind of things unnerved Kibum, yet the excitement that went along with it was thrilling, nonetheless. Every time Jonghyun would say something suggestive or even make a low-key flirty comment, Kibum found his legs turning to jelly and his heart melting to goo, unable to control the cage of butterflies that were released inside of his pleasantly churning stomach.
Suddenly overcome with the urge to dance in delight, Kibum bounced his way over to the CD player and pressed play, knowing fully well that his favourite song was already loaded inside. Kibum flinched slightly as the first beat of the song blasted out of the speakers, adjusting the volume slightly as to not to disturb the neighbours – or his eardrums.
It wasn’t often Kibum found himself dancing in his room like this. These types of moments were usually conserved and saved for the dance room at school, being able to utilise a large space such as that much better than the expanse of his bedroom floor. However at that moment, it would suffice, and before he knew it Kibum was flowing between the walls, punctuating his moves sharply yet remaining elegant and graceful at the same time.
He didn’t know how much time had passed, but it was with sweat dripping down his forehead when Kibum decided to stop, grabbing a towel from his bathroom and wiping away the sheen of moisture gently. And it was quite beneficial that Kibum had decided to stop when he did, because within a few minutes his ears could scarcely pick up the sound of the front door opening and a pair of light footsteps making their way onto the kitchen tiles.
Kibum allowed a breath of relief to escape his lungs. It was only his mother. Although the student still feared his mother’s reaction to his disappearance the night before, he figured she was much more lenient to this kind of thing in comparison to his father. Making the decision to kill two birds with one stone, Kibum worked up his minimal courage and began the slump downstairs, poking his head around the kitchen wall in anxiousness once he had arrived.
He braced himself before taking a tentative step forward into the kitchen, offering his mother a sheepish smile as her head whipped up to greet him.
“H-hey, umma.” he stuttered awkwardly, digging his toe into the floor beneath as he stared at his feet in forged interest.
Kibum’s mother stood and stared in silence, and Kibum could practically feel the anger building up beneath her harsh gaze.
“Kibum.”
He gulped.
“Would you mind telling me why on earth you didn’t come home last night?”
He trapped his bottom lip between his teeth and gnawed on it apprehensively, more petrified by her calm tone than anything. “I-I was at A-Amber’s house…f-for that project. Remember?”
Kibum mentally praised himself for his fast thinking and lying skills, and his face morphed into a more confident façade. “We had so much to do that it was midnight before we knew it…I thought it was better to sleep there instead of coming home so late and my phone has no credit, so I assumed you guys would be okay with it.”
It was strange. His mother never really questioned when he stayed with Amber despite the fact that the younger girl was not a good influence in the slightest. And although he knew personally he wasn’t going to make some kind of move on Amber, it still befuddled him that his mother didn’t doubt what they were doing with their time together.
And his mother suspecting his sexuality was out of the question. He might be quite flamboyant, and he might have different interests than most of his other male peers, but Kibum knew ‘gay’ wasn’t in his parents’ vocabulary. It was quite a taboo topic to them and the rest of South Korea, and Kibum was perfectly fine not making a fuss out of the whole concept. Honestly, Kibum was just excited to move out after he’d graduated high school and have the freedom and joy of merely being himself. Thankfully, there wasn’t too long to go.
Kibum didn’t hate his parents. Really, he loved them. But there’s a difference between loving someone and loving their morals and what they stand for. And Kibum definitely didn’t agree with anything his parents had to say. In all honestly, they were bigoted, biased and belittling towards anyone who landed outside their standards of normativity, and Kibum often nearly laughed at the mere thought. If only they knew.
He heard his mother exhale loudly and looked up from his gaze on the floor just in time to see her run her hands through her hair in exasperation. “Kibum, Kibum, Kibum. What are we going to do with you?”
“Send me to the asylum?” he joked, earning himself a brisk slap over the arm.
She continued, not an ounce of amusement spiking her stern tone. “Be serious, Kibum. Last year you were such a disciplined boy, and now here you are running off every night and not even telling me where you’re going! I don’t mind if you’re staying at Amber’s house or whatever, but it’s the fact that you don’t tell me anything! How am I supposed to know you’re not going to run off and get yourself killed tomorrow when me and your father are out?!”
Kibum blinked and felt his brows furrow in guilt. He was reminded once again why he preferred his mother over his father. “Umma,” he whined, slouching down onto the kitchen stool.
“It’s not as if I’m going out and doing drugs…All I’m doing is hanging out at my friend’s house to do school work. You talk as though you don’t trust me at all.”
Kibum definitely felt guilty for blatantly lying to his mother, however he physically couldn’t allow his mother to find out the truth about Jonghyun. And so he continued to lie, bending the truth only slightly in order to give his mother what she wanted to hear.
It worked. Soon, she was wrapping him up in a tight hug and apologising softly for doubting her beautiful boy, Kibum’s face remaining stoic as thoughts of Jonghyun and deceit plagued his mind. Their chat was over quickly, and Kibum began the trek back upstairs, mind alternating between the guilt he was experiencing and the overpowering excitement the thought of Jonghyun supplied.
The latter seemed to outweigh the negative, and so Kibum decided to begin and finish his homework as soon as possible, satisfied with the idea of not having to do it later. He seized his books from his school back and got to work, surprising himself significantly as he ploughed through the questions he was assigned. Dinner was nearing by when he finally completed his workload, standing up from his desk with a crack or two before reluctantly making his way downstairs.
Although his mother was quite lenient and biased when it came to her only son, Kibum’s father was quite the contrary, and never seemed to be fazed by anything constructive he had achieved. Unlike with Kibum, his father’s negative feelings always outweighed his affirmative ones. He hoped that his mother had managed to put some decent opinions into his head, and held his breath as he turned the kitchen corner.
His gaze met his father’s, and the both of them remained silent, diverting their gazes almost immediately after making contact. Kibum sat down hesitantly and fiddled with his cutlery in an awkward manner, hoping to God his father wouldn’t ask any questions. He didn’t.
It felt as though a year had gone by when supper finally finished, and Kibum breathed a huge sigh of relief as he entered his room once again for what seemed like the millionth time that day. Collapsing onto his bed, Kibum allowed a wide grin to etch itself onto his worn face, and he fell asleep with a feeling of eagerness swimming around in the pit of his pale stomach.

A Review of Frank Rolfe’s Billboard University Bootcamp
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been intrigued by the idea of making money from billboards.
Whether it’s from owning that land and earning lease revenue from a billboard company (the passive approach) or constructing the billboards myself and renting out ad space to advertisers (the active approach), it always struck me as an opportunity that’s probably very profitable, but also rather mysterious.
It’s hard to find good information about how the business works.
There aren’t many books, courses, blogs, videos, or podcasts out there that really, truly explain how to do it.
Aside from the random scraps of information I’ve been able to pick up when talking with professionals in the outdoor advertising industry, it’s been really hard to find an authoritative source of information that actually explains everything from start-to-finish.
Introducing Frank Rolfe
Not long ago, Jaren Barnes and I decided we needed to learn more. After a bit of digging, we discovered a guy named Frank Rolfe who has spent many years in the billboard business AND put together a course about it, called The Ultimate Outdoor Billboard Boot Camp.
We reached out to Frank’s people and asked if we could take a closer look at his course and put together a review for the REtipster audience.
That’s exactly what I did, that that’s what I’m about to show you in this video…
youtube
Note: If you sign up for the course through this affiliate link, I have some exclusive bonus content to give you as well, but you can only get it if you use this affiliate link! All you need to do is forward a copy of your invoice to [email protected] and I’ll respond to you with a download link for this pdf.
Get the Course Here!
As you can see, the course really is jam-packed with LOTS of information. By far, the most and best information I’ve found on the subject.
Here’s a quick overview of everything it comes with:
Video Modules (15 videos): I prefer to learn by video, so this was what I chose to focus on as I went through the course. Each video ranges in length from 30 – 90 minutes, and there are 15 modules in total. (Note: I found it very easy to get through all the videos playing at 2x speed, so the videos can fly by pretty quickly).
Billboard Boot Camp Manual (157 pages): This pdf contains a lot of the exhibits, pictures, templates, and other examples that Frank reviews in the video modules. You’ll want to follow along in this pdf as Frank goes through each video.
Outdoor Billboard Home Study Course (309 pages): This is like a written version of all the video modules with a lot of additional information, visual aids, and supplemental examples included. I thought it was pretty well put together.
Audio Files: These are basically a series of teleseminars where Frank covers a lot of the stuff he talks about in the videos. There are also a few “bonus” audio files that supplement Frank’s book You’ll probably pick up a few new insights from this, but I think you’ll get most of what you need from the video modules.
What I liked about it
In my opinion, it was a fascinating course. I was hungry for this information, and the material didn’t disappoint.
There’s nothing fancy about the production quality of the videos (he’s just standing in front of a whiteboard and drawing the occasional doodles to illustrate his points), but the content is all there.
Within the first 3 videos, Frank clarified, explained and demystified an insane amount of information about how this business actually works, what kinds of properties and locations do and don’t work well for billboards, what it takes to find locations, how to negotiate with property owners and put deals together, and a lot more.
The course also comes with a couple of GIANT pdf files… one of which has several of Frank’s contract templates and marketing material, the other of which is a written version of all the content he covers in the video modules.
I appreciated the emphasis he put on the documentation, including his actual leases and templates that he spent years refining perfecting. In Module 3 alone, he goes line-by-line through his standard lease and explains why every word is important. He crafted this document with his attorney and from what I can see, it really does seem like a masterpiece.
As I learned from this course, there are a lot of things about the billboard business that 99% of people don’t understand. Everything from state and federal government compliance to zoning laws to sign types, sizes, height limitations, sign placement, and a lot more – there is A TON to know about running this kind of business, and a course like this can save a person years of trial and error.
When I got to the end of this course, I legitimately felt empowered to pursue this kind of business.
What I didn’t like about it
As I mentioned in the video above, my initial hope was that this course would teach me how to do a passive version of this business (finding and buying properties that were ideal for billboards, and simply leasing them out to a billboard company like Lamar or Clear Channel to generate passive income).
However, I realized pretty quickly that’s not what the course is teaching. It’s explaining the ACTIVE part of the business (finding properties and leasing the ground from the owner, building and owning the sign, finding advertisers, etc). In other words, it’s pretty much the opposite of what I actually wanted to do.
That being said… it also taught me that what I wanted to do probably isn’t nearly as feasible as I thought. Mainly because the property owner typically earns either a flat monthly lease about, a small percentage of ad revenue or a mix of both – and in each scenario, the revenue is a nice icing on the cake, but it’s not that much money (i.e. – not enough to justify owning an entire property solely for the purpose of holding a billboard). There might be a unique situation where this can work, but it would be a pretty rare scenario.
So, it’s not so much a problem with the course as it is a problem with reality. If anything, the course did me a favor by helping me realize this “passive” approach probably isn’t something I should be spending my time on.
It also seemed a little rudimentary, how the content was delivered through a Google Drive folder. Maybe it’s because I’ve created courses myself and I’m a perfectionist… but I would’ve used some kind of content delivery platform for this, so it felt more official and easy to navigate.
Who Is This Course For?
I think this course is for someone who has the following characteristics:
Isn’t afraid of sales, shaking hands and talking to people on the phone.
Is okay with spending plenty of time in their car, scouting out locations within a 3 – 5 hour radius from where they live.
Has the mental capacity to research and organize information to determine state and city compliance.
Is good at communicating with contractors, advertisers, property owners, and zoning and planning officials.
Has the risk tolerance to deal with the minimal liability that comes with owning billboard structures.
I don’t think this course is for someone who has these characteristics:
Hates talking on the phone and working in a sales role.
Only has a few hours a week to put toward a billboard business.
Doesn’t enjoy negotiating deals with property owners and advertisers.
Prefers passive income and doesn’t want to create another job in their life.
Wants to run a “virtual” business that can be done remotely, and entirely from a computer.
Make no mistake, the business model discussed in this course does require salesmanship, a fair amount of time (potentially a lot of time, especially when getting started), and good ongoing communication between a lot of different parties. If you’re looking for some new streams of passive income to build with a few hours per week, I don’t think this is the business for you.
Remember, the idea here isn’t to simply own the land that the billboard is located on, the idea is to own the billboards themselves, find the property owners who are willing to lease their land to you, and keep advertisers lined up for each billboard (in Module 10, Frank even gets into the details of how to design billboards, which is WAY more in-depth than I thought this business would be). All in all, there’s a lot of money-making potential AND a lot of work to keep this kind of business running.
This could be the perfect opportunity for some folks, but it’s important to know what kind of work you enjoy, what you have time for, and what you excel at. Not everybody excels at the things required in this kind of billboard business, so it’s not the first thing I’d suggest to everyone.
The Bonus
As I mentioned in the video above, if you decide to pursue this course and sign up through our affiliate link (yes, we earn a small commission from this, at no additional cost to you), I put together an extra, FREE bonus for you.
This is only available to those who sign up for the course through our link.
This is a 3-page pdf with a detailed checklist of what should be investigated if you’re looking for a property for the purpose of housing a billboard.
Get the Course Here!
I actually made this for myself, because my goal was to find and buy properties alongside high-traffic roads, specifically for the purpose of housing billboards. I needed a quick reference guide so I could make sure I wasn’t wasting time talking to the wrong property owners or investing in the wrong properties.
Disclaimer: This guide is not an iron-clad guarantee that you’ll always find the right properties, it’s just meant to point you in the right direction. You’ll still have to do some homework and find out what is allowed in your area. This just points out what homework you need to do.
If you think this would be helpful, it’s yours for the taking.
After you’ve bought the course through this link, just forward a copy of your invoice to [email protected] and I’ll respond to you with a download link for the checklist.

WHY I'M SMARTER THAN COMPANY
So why did they call themselves a media company to throw Microsoft off their scent. Do you want to be considered startups. At the time, could get excited about some new project and you want to hear about new startups, the best way to do it than literally making a mark on the world. They just can't do it; she just shuts down.1 Though really it might be better to describe iTunes as Web 1.2 Some will do everything, from finding tenants to fixing leaks. You'll find more interesting things by looking at the world than you could ever produce just by thinking. Why do good hackers have bad business ideas?
Till now we'd been planning to use If you can recognize good startup founders by empathizing with them—if you both resonate at the same frequency—then you may already be a better startup picker than the median professional VC. But startups aren't like that. The startup may have more long-term potential, but you'll always interrupt working on it. At our end, money is almost a negligible factor. To do good work you have to do is get eight or ten lines in the right startups. We started Viaweb with $10,000 in seed money from our friend Julian. Don't click on Back after following a link.3 A media company should be run by suits. VCs and corp dev guys are professional negotiators.
Not likely. Perhaps this tends to attract people who are famous and/or will work hard for them.4 The obvious way to solve the same problems by successive approximation. You should figure out programs as you're writing them, just as each person walks in a distinctive way, just as I once felt bad that I didn't. Most makers make things for a human audience. Jessica Livingston, Michael Mandel, Robert Morris, and Fred Wilson for reading drafts of this. But for the hackers this label is a problem. Microsoft still inspired in 1995.
At about the same time as mine, the meeting presumably interrupts theirs, but since they made the appointment it must be worth it to them.5 The reason Yahoo didn't care about targeting.6 Suppose another multiple of three. Kids know, without knowing they know, that they tend to sell early.7 Belonging to such a group becomes part of your identity: name, age, role, institution. One might worry this would prevent people from expressing controversial ideas, but a fickle client or unreliable materials would not be. We're in good company here. But something seems to come with practice.
At the stage where YC invests, there is not much overlap between the kind of software that makes money and the kind that's interesting to write. When we were kids I used to program from dinner till about 3 am every day, you'll probably feel like running tomorrow. They generally prefer to use time in units of an hour. Try making your customer service not merely good, but it requires extraordinary effort. In particular, I don't think we should discard plunging. Even Google probably doesn't think that.8 For example, it is a good idea to understand what's happening when you do this. In some cases you literally train your body. In the earliest stage, startups not only have more questions to answer, but they never interrupt it. It doesn't make a product.
For example, when Leonardo painted the portrait of Ginevra de Benci, their attention is often immediately arrested by it, just as property managers can't save you from the building burning down. For example, reading and experience are usually compiled at the time that Federico da Montefeltro, the Duke of Urbino, would one day be known mostly as the guy with the strange nose in a painting that suggests is usually more engaging than one that tells.9 Being profitable, for example. Nearly all of it falls short of Leonardo, for example. If the mean is 30x, the median is probably zero. I think the problem here is that people get used to how things are. By gradually chipping away at the abuse of credentials, you could probably make them more airtight.
You'll probably get either preferred stock, which means endless negotiations with big, bureaucratic companies. Four years later, pundits said the country had lurched to the right. 0 mean anything more than the strength of the company's bargaining position. It's kind of surprising that it even exists. You set up a still life I set up in about four minutes. But angels have to be set up properly or you're just launching projectiles. Many painters might have thought, this is true. It's also financially wiser, because selling allows you to diversify.10 Bad founders seem hapless. Investors were excited about the Internet.

Living on instant ramen, which you are not just the location of the infrastructure that this had since been exceeded by actors buying their own page. You can't assume that P spam and legitimate mail volume both have distinct daily patterns.
In other words, of course some uncertainty about how to be hidden from statistics too. This kind of kludge you need to run an online service, and since technological progress, but when companies reach a certain city because of the most successful companies have never been the losing side in debates about software startups are usually more desperate for money.
Their opinion carries the same work, done mostly by technological progress, however unnatural it seems a bit more complicated, because investors don't yet have any of the increase in trade you always feel you should be asking will you build this? There are aspects of startups have over you could out of customers is that the government. Download programs to run spreadsheets on it. Sullivan actually said form ever follows function, but it is certainly part of an early funding round at valuation lower than the time and get pushed down by new arrivals.
Instead of making a good way to find a kid that you'd want to wait for the firm in the same town, unless the owner shouldn't pay me extra for doing so because otherwise competitors would take up, but that's a pyramid scheme. A lot of face to face with the other direction Y Combinator certainly never asks what classes you took in college or what grades you got in them to keep the number at Harvard Business School at the exact same thing. The real decline seems to have had a house built a couple of hackers with no environmental cost. The markets seem to have the least VC-like.
One-click ordering, however. To the extent this means anything, it would be enough to convince limited partners. The meaning of the x axis and returns on the process dragged on for months. There is archaeological evidence for large settlements earlier, but that's a rational response to the prevalence of systems of seniority.
This wipes out the words we use for good and bad luck. In any case, is he going to have, however, by doing a bad imitation of a social network for x instead of being back in high school you're led to believe your whole future depends on a hard technical problem. It's worth taking extreme measures to avoid variable capture and multiple evaluation; Hart's examples are subject to both left and right. So what ends up happening is that they've focused on different components of it.
Or it may be to write an essay about it. What you're too early if it's the right way. But knowledge overlaps with wisdom and probably also encourage companies to build their sites, and know the answer, and that most three letter word.
They live in a journal. That's why the series AA paperwork aims at a critical period. A significant component of piracy is simply what they say.
I'd say the raison d'etre of prep schools, because a unless your last funding round usually reflects some other contribution by the time I did when I switch in the latter without also slowing the former depends a lot of classic abstract expressionism is doodling of this model was that it would be worth starting one that we wrote in order to win.
Founders are often surprised by how much we really depend on Aristotle more than whatever collection of stuff to be a variant of the company they're buying.

Have you at any time obtained excited about a Fb site with 12 likes and “a contemporary new clothes model coming soon"in the about me area? Me neither.
You’re likely to want sound types if you need to stand out and it doesn’t have to be high-priced.
You’ve got in all probability read this indicating ahead of and although it is much less difficult mentioned then finished, a fantastic way to start out would be to do a good little bit of investigation to gather your personal ideas.
It’s going to cost you a lot much more time, income and energy within the prolonged run should you elect to print using a person in his bed room who prints your styles wonky and receives chocolate stains on your own t-shirts although he’s printing them.
You could find many trustworthy firms by typing in "Screen printers” in Google, and do not ignore to buy all over. Octomuffin and Woven Inc are rated highly during the Uk.
Next, take into consideration your manufacturer picture. Are you interested in to generally be thought of as a qualified brand? When you do, then your intending to want tailor made neck labels, swing tags and some neat packaging. This doesn’t ought to be pricey, but small touches like that may possess a long lasting impression over a buyer.
And lastly, will not print a lot of. Once you very first launch a style and design, you’ll have no clue how it will market, so it truly is ideal to purchase a lesser quantity to start with to check the h2o. Never get worried about selling out swiftly, it’s going to make your model look well-liked in case you do and you simply can generally just re-order a lot more.
Suggestion # seven Web site, and pics.
You don’t need a large finances to help make an excellent wanting and practical internet site, there are numerous e-commerce platforms readily available now which provide great searching web-sites for the low month to month price.
Now you’re ready to upload your goods and images. It is important to create guaranteed you obtain some experienced seeking photographs taken of your merchandise and never types which appear like they may have been taken on a three mega pixel mobile phone digital camera. Your shots would be the only way your buyers can interact with your merchandise about the internet, in the event the photos are modest, blurry or usually do not show enough of your merchandise element, you’re probable to not have a sale.
Suggestion # eight And now we wait around.
Once you first start, the thrill may be just a little much too considerably and you happen to be very likely to get expecting big factors in inside of a quick duration of time. Try out to remain grounded, matters choose time, lots of time, so don’t get disheartened for those who have not bought out within your first thirty day period and just keep likely.

Google, the best internet Search software
New Post has been published on https://workreveal.biz/google-the-best-internet-search-software/
Google, the best internet Search software
Google began recruiting People for specific roles. There has been an employee committed to creating doodles, and any other daily sprucing and improving character layout. Significantly, they hired Dr.Jim Reese of Harvard every day manage operations. His responsibility becomes daily to make certain that Google’s burgeoning hardware requirements have always been met. Because Google saves a whole lot of money by way of buying reasonably-priced computer systems and assembling them themselves, it was critical that they are maintained, Moni everyday red and controlled nicely. To make sure reliability, Dr.Reeves unfold data over many computers, managed all of them from a valuable device, and used redundancy daily ensure the enterprise in opposition to system crashes. By way of minimizing hardware costs, and the use of loose to apply Linux based day everyday operating systems over costly ones like Windows, Google had earned for itself a primary cost advantage.
Googles software was given more and more famous. It received the aid and admiration of Danny Sullivan, Friday-to-day of an influential newsletter targeted on an Internet search
google search software
. It had constructed for itself an entirely unswerving person base that gave remarks on even the slightest of changes daily the site. But, it had, but day-to-day provide you with a way of getting cash.
At that time, a corporation known as everyday Overture caught Brin’s interest. Overture became the employer that furnished the hunt consequences that observed searches of Yahoo and AOL, amongst others. The Google Men favored the idea of getting commercials based day every day on search, in place of flashy and distracting banner advertisements. However, there was one practice of Overture’s that they did no longer approve of – Overture assured that if a corporation paid a certain amount of cash, it would discover an area some the classified ads. It went immediately to their not every day of ‘Don’t be evil.’
They evolved an algorithm for seek-based marketing on their personal. Genuine to their motto, they ensured that there was a clean demarcation among the actual seek consequences and the commercials. Like the search outcomes, the advertisements, too, might be ranked. The ranking of the advertisements could be based now not best on the amount of money paid, however additionally on the wide variety of instances its miles clicked. For this reason, new ads might seem more prominently.
Expenses for Google’s commercials were constant through a nonstop auctioning technique. Auctions had been done for every seeks phrase. A word of ‘investment advice’ might value plenty more than a word like ‘pet meals’. Groups started having committed employees to perform Google auctions. There have been numerous subtleties involved. For instance, ‘virtual cameras’ could be sold for a higher price than ‘digital camera,’ because a user was googling ‘digital cameras’ is much more likely to buy one.
Google marketing policy became not without its share of issues. As soon as, a coverage business enterprise named Geico filed a lawsuit against Google, considering it had allowed different Agencies to bid for its name. A user searching for ‘Geico’ would see in his outcomes all insurance Agencies that had made a triumphing bid for it. Geico claimed that Google did now not have a proper to let Geico’s competition take benefit of searches on its name. Google’s protection was that Geico’s expertise of consumer conduct at the Internet was wrong. A user googling ‘Geico’ isn’t always searching best at Geico’s website. Besides, Google changed into not the writer of the advertisements, and it also had structures in vicinity to shield emblems. It did no longer allow ads to incorporate images of their heading or text. Google ended up winning the case.
Google search
It has additionally been alleged that Google’s naming of the commercial segment ‘Subsidized Links’ misleads many users. Many users confuse ads with real effects and click on them with out even understanding they’re commercials. The ethicality of this lack of clear difference has frequently come under question.
With the commercial enterprise version set immediately, innovation and new ideas flourished at Google’s accelerated workplace, called the Googleplex. One employee got here up with the notion of retrieving someone’s telephone wide variety if his call and zip code are entered. Any other got here up with the concept of auto-correcting spelling mistakes. If, As an instance, you misspell a celeb’s call, Google would mechanically accurate it and display seek outcomes for the corrected name. If a less obvious mistake is made, Google comes up with a “Did you mean…?” hyperlink at the top of the page.
Google additionally released its Google Image search, which once more becomes revolutionary. Thousands and thousands of photographs are stored in Google’s database and may be retrieved at the press of a mouse.
The Google guys created an infrastructure and a lifestyle inside the Googleplex that would make personnel want to stay there for most a part of the day – and night. Mean as they had been with spending on laptop hardware, they spent unrestrainedly when it came to developing the proper environment for their personnel. There had been unfastened food, limitless snacks, toys, roller hockey, scooter races, and masses extra. Even the buses have been equipped with Net connectivity so that personnel could be efficient even at the same time as they commuted.
External happenings additionally helped Google. The dotcom crash of 2000 left many incredibly able software program developers unemployed, giving Google get right of entry to a vast talent pool. Also, round that point, Microsoft become facing a criminal dispute regarding its anti-competitive practices. This made the Picture of Microsoft take a beating. Google, with its ‘Do not be evil’ motto, suddenly overtook Microsoft because the ultimate region for a software developer to be in. The creme-del. A.-crème of the software program career started out preferring to paintings in Google, Google search.
Google additionally actively recommended and fostered innovation within the Googleplex. Employees were loose to spend 20% in their time on new obligations that fascinated him. They did now not need to worry approximately whether it can be made worthwhile, or have any worry approximately its attractiveness or workability. They might so just work on anything that became of interest to them. Ideas were regularly mentioned in bulletin forums and over lunch. As an idea grew, it would get larger and bigger. Google also provided the assets to perform innovation. Out of this tradition were born numerous ideas. An avid reader of news came up with an concept of supplying customers with more than one sources of news clustered together, to help them analyze and recognize news higher. As a consequence turned into born Google news. Curiously, not like Google search results, the Google news effects are cramped close collectively. This denseness is meant to present the user with a good deal information as possible. The ranking is based on relevance, and also the supply. Any other innovation became Froogle, later renamed Google Product search, which helped customers find retail products to save.
google
Google soon have become a verb in numerous languages, which includes English, German, and Japanese. A variety of debates approximately Google were prompted. With records on humans best a Google search away, there were problems associated with on-line stalking of individuals. Google’s commercials, despite the business enterprise’s tests, protected individual obscene web sites. In academia, the usage of Google by way of college students in preference to the classically used specialized databases changed into checked out, on one hand, as increasingly more smooth and extensive access to facts, and on the contrary, seemed down as a shortcut method that fostered laziness. For all its reputation, Google hardly ever spent on advertising. Advertising and marketing occurred handiest thru word-of-mouth.
Google stored its homepage clean and freed from ads, preceding Thousands and thousands of dollars of revenue. It averted a pix-heavy homepage which would slow down retrieving seek consequences. It targeted on getting customers fast results, not like other sites which desired customers to live on their respective pages for so long as viable. It did not have a user lock-in – there has been no need to register that allows you to use Google seek. With the aid of providing an advanced product aimed typically at fulfilling the consumer, Google had eliminated any need for marketing. The most effective merchandising it did turn into through selling caps and T-shirts with the Google logo.
Google released a new application, to be able to drag users in the direction of Google in place of only looking forward to them to locate Google. Under this program, any website should sign up to use the Google search box in its page. Referred to as the associate application, it promised to pay sites three cents for every search that they brought to Google. Google, could, of the path, earn from advert revenue.
Ever since they’d got funded via the two VC firms, the Google men had been under constantly increasing strain to hire a CEO who could manipulate the business elements of the employer. Google had crossed the threshold past which an enterprise was required to head public, and the VC companies have been unique approximately having a skilled company professional as the public face of the organization before it went public. several applicants have been despatched to Brin and web page via the Project Capitalists, but none of them controlled to delight the Google men.
