I feel like some people don’t know this but the reason why we don’t upload music directly to tumblr anymore is because a few years ago you stopped being able to upload like 99% of songs because they get filtered now for copyright

You don’t even really get a proper error message about it, your post will just be like “oopsy! Sorry!! Tee hee try again?” and never actually post

The only songs I’ve been able to get past the filter are either indie enough that they aren’t in the database or, like, Homestuck music

Thus the rise in annoying ass Spotify links. SoundCloud links are better (imho) because they can still be played directly on tumblr, but not every song is on SoundCloud

just throwing that out there after seeing so many “why don’t people just upload audio to tumblr anymore?” posts. It’s not cuz we don’t want to :[
