1am unnesaceryly rambly storytime with alpaca: i just wanted to buy some books edition

i was investigating the price of a couple of books that i wanted an actual physical copy of cause i really liked them. apparantly theres pretty much nowhere to buy those books i can find that doesnt cost $30 per book, and while these are Good Books im not paying that much for them its not like theyre very long, so i went ok i can get them off amazon that should be pretty cheap there anyway.

so i go to amazon and add the books to the cart and remember the adventure zone comic graphic book thingy is going to be a thing and add that too. i go to the checkout and hell yeah i get free shipping on these books, thisll only cost about $35, before i realise that actually im on the uk amazon site which is not going to be helpful because its Literally The Other Side Of The World.

so i retype the site in and readd all the books to the cart and get back to the checkout and woops turns out im still on the uk site? even though i definitly put .co.nz this time? i try it again. it just sends me back to the uk site. it does it the next time too. i was certain there was a .co.nz site im 98% sure i looked at stuff on it but ok i should still be able to get the books cheaply on the uk site, not as cheap as i thought but definitly less than $30 per book.

except ive realised that it thinks my address is still in the uk despite the fact i havent lived there in at least two years? maybe thats why it kept sending me back to the uk site. nope. turns out the .co.nz version, just. doesnt exist? i can find no evidence of it existing anywhere despite the fact im certain ive used it before.

i can still import them from the uk though! theyll cost about £35 which is certainly more expensive than nz$35 but i can get free shipping! oh. no i cant you have to live in the uk to get the free shipping. how much does it cost to ship these books to The Other Side Of The World then? it doesnt say anywhere. at all. so i assume itll ve about the standerd kind of shipping cost to nz and be about $15-20. this is no longer cheap but im still getting more book content for less money than itd cost to go out and buy these in the only shop i can find that sells them.

except. 2 of these things are preorders. so ill have to pay for shipping seperatly for those in addition to the ones i can buy right now. so thats 2-3 lots of $15-20. just for shipping. probably. shipping might be even more i cant find it on this fucking website.

so this is about £35 of books. thatd cost me over $100 to get cause the curency conversiom rate is almost as bad as shipping costs.

fuck this i should look into those companies that import things from a uk shipling address so shipping costs arent as bad a who am i kidding its half one am im too tired for this shit
