From 2010- Modest Management Suck
2012
Part 20
“We’re about to go out and do some signing” Harry says to the camera
“We’re at Natick Mall in Boston. It’s gonna be really fun, we’ve heard there’s loads and loads of people and we’re very very excited” Niall says as I laugh at Louis pretending to walk down stairs behind us
“Let’s go!” Liam and Harry shout at the same time. We stand behind a door waiting for it to open
“Anyone else feeling nervous?” I ask feeling a slight tingling in my toes and fingers. I can also feel my heart racing
“It’s excitement, you’ll be fine” I hear Richard say. Nodding my head I watch the doors open and I put a smile on my face. I walk behind Harry and in front of Niall just trying to focus on my breathing as we walk through the Mall where so many people are screaming. We all sit down shocked that this many people have come out to see us. The security then let the fans in small groups come over to us. We sigh the books that we had released late last year.
Throughout the whole time I try to keep smiling and my heart racing at bay, but I can always count on my boys for noticing when somethings off. So when we have a little break for something to eat I sit down on the sofa breathing in deeply
“What’s up?” Louis asks frowning as he sits next to me
“I don’t know, my chest hurts” I almost sob “I- I can’t stop shaking, but I’m not cold I’m really warm”
“Paul I don’t think YN should go back out there” Liam says
“No, but Simon…”
“Fuck Simon and what he says” Niall says sitting on my other side
“She’s going out there even if I have to drag her out there” Richard crosses his arms
“Look at her, she can barley breathe” Paul defends
“I think this is makin’ her worse” Harry kneels down and takes a shaking hand in his and gives it a squeeze of reassurance
“She’s going out there and that’s final” with that Richard leaves the room
“Hey jus’ look at me and breath with me” I try to match Harry’s breathing to calm myself down.
Another day another performance. This time is for the Today Show. We arrive on a bus which stops at the Rockefeller Plaza. We all jump off and run to the stage as music is already playing
“New York City make some noise!” Harry yells into his microphone. Immediately WMYB starts playing
“You're insecure, don't know what for. You're turnin' heads when you walk through the door. Don't need makeup to cover up. Bein' the way that you are is enough” Liam starts singing. Harry then turns to look at me and gives me a little encouraging smile since I’ve been feeling so worried and stressed recently
“Everyone else in the room can see it. Everyone else but you”
We all sing the chorus, then it’s Zayn’s turn then mine
“I don't know why you're being shy and turn away when I look into your eyes”…
“One Directions first album has hit number 1 in 6 countries and they could make it 7 this week when Up All Night is released here in the United States. One Direction is Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and YN YLN. Good morning guys”
“Morning” we all say in unison
“What do you like best about American girls?” the interviewer asks and I roll my eyes at the question. I then spot Richard off to the side shaking his head at me
“They’re very very loud” Liam says which causes everyone to scream
“YN what’s it like for you? Your living every girls dream right now being close to these boys all of the time”
“Your right I am living my dream, but it’s being on stage and singing. I’m just lucky I get to do that with these guys I can call family” I reply
“What’s the best and worst part of this sudden fame?”
“I think for me and I know these guys will probably agree, but I’ve made 5 best friends” Zayn says “the only down side would be that we don’t get to see our friends and family as much” or that our every move is controlled, is what I would love to have added on. We continue on the interview and sing a few more songs.
I stand next to Louis and Harry while our choreographer puts us in our places for rehearsals for the Kids Choice Awards
“I want YN and Zayn to switch” Richard says hands on his hips “we can’t afford more cheating rumours so during this song you have to stay away from each other”
“And what happens when the press say YN and Liam are dating or YN and Niall?” Zayn asks
“We will deal with that if it happens. Harry I’m looking into getting you and Taylor Swift together. Boots both of your careers”
“Are you serious?” Zayn raises his eyebrow “this is ridiculous” he huffs
“Simons wishes, keep rehearsing” Richard then leaves us to carry on rehearsals. I take in a deep breath just as I feel an arm around my shoulder. I look up to see Zayn
“I know, me to” neither Zayn or I have ever liked Richard, but we’ve always tried to keep the peace but it’s getting harder and harder.

Favorite Clues:

25D: Hum bug? (3)
Lookups:
59D: Jon M. ___, director of "Crazy Rich Asians" (3)
It's Tuesday, and that means constructors can have a mote of creativity in their construction, meaning that - gasp - the theme clues are vertical instead of horizontal! It's quite lovely how such a simple change can provide a change of pace, and it feels like they tend to happen on Tuesday more often than other days. Not sure if there's any fact behind that.
Today's theme has five vertical entries that are two-part phrases, and the revealer tells us that all these phrases have TREE TOPS - the first part of the phrases are parts of a tree. LEAVES, BARK, TRUNK, and ROOT (honestly feels like a connections set). Simple enough for a Tuesday, though I will say that TRUNK SHOW felt a bit of a stretch.
The rest of the fill was amenable, with not much to note. It's easy to please me with double cluing, so I enjoyed the pair of "Wafting smells" at 1A (6) and 42A (5) for AROMAS and ODORS. On the other hand, the last spot I needed to fill was the natick of Credit SUISSE and Jon CHU. win some, lose some

Pretty good stuff for ten minutes here and there throughout the day. Going to get real finnicky with that second story walkway probably. The funniest part is how it's almost miserably dark and cold on the streets in there with all the shadows. I bet it'll look really cute with a decent amount of electric lights. I ran out of steel (STEEL?!) so there are still a lot of unroofed buildings. But I think it'd be really cute to give a few companions rooms and I'm only running Everyone's Best Friend so I am getting lousy with companions rn.
I'm unsure about how all the different textures are going to look but I already know all of it looks better the more I stack onto it. Especially as there's less just.. flat cut off on the right side of things. It's not a fun cluttered living place from the shotgun shack's porch--it's like... a flat eyesore. It's construction. I'm going to get real obnoxious with plants and pipes I think.
Ooh wait can I do an "abandoned brutalism" spot somewhere? Maybe the natick power station?
Getting up to some things over at Starlight. Mapped a layout down in the hopes that the pathways will be big enough for NPCs to casually move through. The first level's about done. It'll be the main focus of the settlement and then we'll branch out a bit more haphazardly I think. The second level will break up more the of the long straight lines with varied outer walls and caps, and we'll probably connect some places up there with walkways.
I want it to look low tech but high life, and grow a real little hub outta the drive in. I'm honestly a bit worried the variety of textures will look bad instead of organically cobbled together and decorated by folks in their spare time with the rare spare resources.
So far I have plans for a milita's quarters/armory, a few bars/restaurants, a workhouse/depot, a library and a greenhouse. Spent a good chunk of my break time today fleshing out Red Rocket Sanctuary and Lexington, and Starlight, as well as tweaking Sanctuary's interiors a bit more.
#fallout 4#fallout 4 settlements#so many places are painfully underdeveloped rn#I just “discovered” hangman's alley and I don't have anything to give it rn#time to depopulate these vacant ones and max out the populations in other spots

not even wip wednesday, just returning to my roots with a ficlet
Danse finds Vera on the porch of the old cabin, sprawled in an old cobwebbed rocking chair that she’s pulled from the shadow of the eave into the sunlight. “What are you doing?” he asks.
Vera lifts her bare feet, head tilting up to look at him through a pair of ridiculous bug eyed sunglasses. “Relaxing.”
He flicks over her. She’s not wearing any armor, and even her blue coat has been abandoned in favor of a plain cotton shirt and a pair of loose pants rolled up over her knees. Her rifle is propped against the railing of the porch, an arm’s length away. Gripped loosely in her hand is a bottle of pilsner. She swirls it around beneath her hand. She looks at home.
“This isn’t your house,” Danse points out. Her air of nonchalance is making him nervous, but he knows there’s likely no reason to be. They’d found this old cabin two days ago, and had seen nothing more frightening than a radstag since.
“It’s nobody’s house,” Vera says, shrugging. “We just found it. It’s a nice evening, don’t you think?”
It is a nice evening, even by Commonwealth standards. It’s warm, but there’s a nice breeze coming off the river nearby. Natick banks can be scenic on occasion, Danse decides, but it’s still not the kind of place Danse would want to let his guard down. He looks down at Vera, noticing the three empty beer bottles on the porch, and hums.
Reaching up, Vera pushes her sunglasses up. Her lips purse. “That was a disappointed hum.”
“It was a hum,” Danse says. “I was only noticing your uncanny ability to unwind whenever it’s least beneficial or safe.”
“Says he who makes jokes about sleeping beneath bags of flammable gas.”
Danse grunts and leans against the porch railing, looking out across the trees and the river that winds sluggishly before them. “Fair point.”
They sit in silence for a little while, listening to an old radio Vera had dug out of some cranny in the cabin. Danse watches the breeze stir leaves on the trees. Vera’s rocking chair squeaks on a backswing, but even that becomes pleasant background noise. It is nice, he realizes, just to sit and do nothing for a while. He can’t remember the last time he’s done this - just sit and listen.
“Hey,” Vera says. Her leg stretches out and she plants her foot on the small of his back, pushing gently against him to make the rocking chair tilt back. Danse turns to look at her, eyeing her foot. She lets it drop to the splintery porch with a thud. “Will you dance with me?”
“What?”
“Dance with me,” Vera says, and she holds her hands up in some approximation of dancing with a partner. At his pinched look, she says, “It’s just a nice night! It feels like a night for dancing. One song.”
“I can’t dance,” he says.
“Who can anymore? It doesn’t matter; I’ll teach you.”
Sighing, Danse rolls his eyes. “One song,” he relents. Vera brightens. “But you can’t complain if I step on your feet.
"Yeah, come on, come on." Vera reaches up, making grabby hands at Danse. He rolls his eyes but takes her hand, pulling her out of the rocking chair to her feet. She stumbles a little and laughs, tossing the empty beer bottle into the dirt at the foot of the cabin porch.
"I don't think you're in a fit state to teach anyone anything," Danse says.
Vera steps down off the porch, shrugging. "I mean, I might step on your toes, but I don't think that'll kill you."
Chuckling, Danse follows Vera down off the porch. The dirt is soft, almost silken as his feet sink into it. Vera is swaying along to the music still crackling away on the radio, eyes closed. "Come on," she says again, holding out a hand. He takes it, but not before his fingers rub together, feeling the calluses on the pads of his fingers. Vera doesn’t seem to mind, and her hand slots into his with practised ease. She tilts backwards on her heels, falling backwards as she tugs him a few feet further from the porch. Danse is beginning to think she’s a little more drunk than she’d let on, but he smiles and gives ground.
Spinning, she twirls under his raised hand and reaches out for his waist, putting on hand on his ribs. “Hold on,” he says. “I was under the impression the male partner was supposed to lead.”
“You can’t even dance,” she protests. Her fingers curl into the fabric of his shirt and Danse nearly shies away from the ticklish brush against his ribs. “I’m leading.” She tugs on his other hand and he obligingly places it on her shoulder. She’s several inches shorter than him. As if realizing it, Vera says again, “I can lead.”
“I’m not arguing,” Danse says placidly.
On the porch, the radio hums. The signal is spotty here on Natick, but it comes through most of the time. Travis is finishing up a radio break, and the sound gutters for a moment before a new song cuts through. The first few bars have been skipped, but Danse recognizes it. One of those old Ink Spots songs, the rain one.
“Oh,” Vera says, pulling him fluidly to the side. “This is a good song.”
Their feet shuffle in the powdery dirt, uncoordinated, and Danse has to look down in order to miss stepping on Vera’s feet. She’s tipsy, on the verge of drunk, but even she has more grace than he does.
“Y’know,” she says after a moment. “For a guy named Danse, you’ve sure got two left feet.”
“Forgive my ignorance,” he says dryly. “They didn’t teach me the waltz in boot camp.”
“Too bad,” Vera says. “There go my dreams of having a Brotherhood military ball, and seeing all you hardasses gussied up in your Sunday best.” She snickers and together they stumble to the side. “Imagine Maxson in a tux. Awful.”
Danse’s lips thin. “You could at least pretend to have a little respect,” he points out.
“Oh, sorry, I didn’t realize we were upholding military standards of professionalism.” Vera tosses her head and her sunglasses tumble off her forehead to land in the dirt at their feet. The sunlight catches her eyes as they turn and spin. It lights her eyes in patches of gold as her eyes crinkle when she smiles. “We’re standing in the dirt spinning in circles. I figured it was okay to tell jokes.”
Danse snorts. They finally come to rest, hands only loosely clasped together. Vera’s thumb rubs against his wrist and they slip apart as the song ends. “That may be so.”
Deftly, Vera bends and plucks her sunglasses from the ground, wiping dust off the lenses. She slides them back up her nose and turns to stagger back up the porch. Danse remains standing in the dust, watching her. When that becomes too much, he looks out across the river, still gold and mirror bright from the light of the setting sun.
“Hey,” Vera says. He looks back at her, where she’s sitting on the old rocking chair with her legs pulled up into the seat. “You aren’t hopeless. You just need practice.”
“Maybe a better teacher,” he says dryly. Vera laughs. He finally finds the power in himself to walk back up the porch and he sits on the top step. “One who isn’t drunk.”
Vera leans over the arm of the chair, chin propped on her elbow. He can’t see her eyes behind the lenses of the sunglasses, but she’s smiling. “Oh, but that’s hardly any fun,” she says. She reaches out one finger and pokes him in the temple. He shifts away from her touch, huffing a soft laugh. “Maybe you need to be drunk. Loosen up a little.”
Shrugging, Danse rests his arms across his knees. “We’ll see,” he says. “For next time.”
Vera hums, satisfied. “For next time.”

Natick town, nestled in the MetroWest community, is home to notable landmarks, various parks, and museums, and houses the largest mall in Massachusetts. Whenever you happen to be in Natick, Massachusetts, stop by the South Natick Dam Park.
A brief overview of the South Natick Dam Park.
South Natick in itself, is a substantial greenery land, known mostly for its scenic nature. You could not uncover a more serene spot in South Natick than the South Natick Dam Park located at 9 Pleasant Street South. The park, contiguous to the Charles River's dam, was established in 1993 on the site of a former grill mist where you can still see embedded millstones in the paved area. It attracts people far and wide since it offers a completely different experience worth visiting, its scenic views, and exquisite waterfalls. The park:
 Opens daily, dawn to dusk.
● Charges nothing for entrance.
● Offers free unmetered off-street parking.
● Offers half an hour to an hour to allocate for visits.
What you can do when in the park.
Photography.
You can't afford to miss the beautiful scenery at the park, from the waters, to the lush greenery, and to the various birds. Most importantly, however, is the real prize in the area, the scenic waterfall at the adjacent Charles River dam. Furthermore, pictures of historic sites and architecture such as the embedded millstones are worth taking. Capture the panorama scene, for an unforgettable and fun experience.
Picnic / Meditation.
If you are looking for an ideal picnic area, the South Natick Dam Park is just the right place to visit. Rest assured of a leisure adventurous moment for you and your family. Marvel at the extreme beauty of the park.

In addition, learn about the island in the middle of the river which is named for Horace Holyoke, one of the characters from "Old Town Folks." Moreover, discover the former grist mill that had served South Natick since colonial times and the embedded millstones paved in the area.
Birds scenery.
The South Natick dam park is a wonderful place to catch sight of multiple different birds such as geese, birds, ducks, and herons in their habitat.
A walk.
If you need to have a short meaningful stroll, you can do it at the park. This not only helps you to unwind but also boosts your immune system.
In addition, if you are a pet person owning a dog, you can take it for a walk in the park. This is attributed to the fact that the park is dog friendly.

Apparently Loki wanted to pull out all the stops. He'd discovered Stark's birthday a little while back and got planning. 'Starlight. 3pm. Don't be late.' He'd pinged the message. A soirée of lights and music and dancing and all the fast food the settlement could muster. Starlight Festival. Grateful people from all over the Commonwealth had filled a cart with donated scrap for Tony's use. Loki gave him a wrapped gift: a beanie. Inside it were stitched the words "Stark's Sneaky Hat".
He was slightly late. Slightly. By about ten minutes. In his ultimate defense, however, it had nothing to do with him losing track of time and him greatly underestimating how long it would take to drop into a spot he wouldn’t be seen, lose the suit, and then trek up to the old drive in. He supposed he could have landed a little closer, but honestly...As trigger happy as the entire Commonwealth was, some secrets were better kept among a very few, and the suit was definitely one of those secrets.
(Like he needed more reason for the Brotherhood and Institute to decide he was interesting, anyway, right?)
Whatever he’d actually been expecting...What had been waiting at the top of the hill and under the old drive thru arm hadn’t been it. Sure, Starlight had come a long way from an empty parking lot - it was a veritable little beehive now, bustling with a small town that was starting to grow all on its own, destined, maybe, at some point to give Diamond City a run for its money. That had been the plan when putting it into motion, anyway. Hell, he’d almost forgotten it was his birthday - had forgotten, honestly, the days just tended to blend, one into another, with only things like ‘a behemoth at County Crossing’ or ‘deathclaw attacked Natick’ to break up the monotony. Every day was something needing repairs, something needing defense reinforcement, someone’s plumbing having gone on the fritz, because no matter how many times you told wastelanders not to try to flush certain things, they still did it anyway.
He wasn’t a sentimental guy, okay, he wasn’t - sentimentality at this point in his life, the life he was now living whether he wanted it or not, was a luxury and he didn’t have the caps for it. (He was, in fact, a sentimental guy.) He had questions, that...In all honesty, he probably didn’t actually want to start asking, like how Loki had even managed to dig up that nugget of information, but then...Loki had certainly wormed his way into all kinds of information he probably shouldn’t have. Tony was, undoubtedly, sure he himself didn’t know a fraction of it. That could be good. That could be bad. Time would eventually tell, all he could do was go along for the ride and make the best of it at this point.
“You know.” There was a hint of amusement in his voice, as he brushed a thumb over the words stitched inside the hat. “I know I’ve got more grey than I used to but I swear that’s stress. Hard to be sneaky when you’re a walking Lite Brite.”
He hesitated a moment - a quick one, half a breath, maybe - before leaning over, pressing a quick, feather-light kiss to the corner of Loki’s mouth. He still wasn’t entirely sure what the standing was, where to go with that, why that even felt like the right thing to do, but it was over and done as quick as that, and there wasn’t any taking it back at that point, was there. “Thank you. Best birthday I’ve had in...Well. Long enough.”

Mesh Or Paddled?
Trends in Office Chairs are now divided between mesh and paddled ones (mainly in the back support area). Both models have advantages and disadvantages and its a matter of what is really convenient for you.
PADDLED
Paddled or fully upholstered chairs are the classic luxury presentation of an office chair. Fully upholstered chairs are often associated with the ultimate in comfort; especially the leather ones. The beauty of its design and clean-cut lines is always desired.
On the other hand, fully upholstered chairs tend to be warmer and that may make you feel hot and sweaty. If you work in a warm space or a directly sunny lightened spot, its very probably that you feel a little overheated in your back seat. That will make it a little harder to keep it clean, too.
MESH
Mesh chairs are called this ways because of their mesh back support. They are increasingly popular, especially now when color and different shapes are so trendy. Mesh Chairs are equally ergonomic and comfortable, but due to its very design they are fresh and breathable, so they fit especially in warmer, sunny spots. Considering that mesh surfaces are cleaner, you will spent less time cleaning them, and they will last longer.
Go to Manhattan Office Design, and find the beauty and functionality of AIS furniture pieces like AIS Natick office chairs, both mesh or paddled ones.
