I just love those two dorks. They've become my new comfort characters. Especially Guy. He's so damn relatable for me on a personal level, it always hurts seeing him fail again and again T___T

Catharsis moment for the shifters trio in 'Bertolt survived AU '

I love them so much

this is the smallest thing I can do for these babies (இ﹏இ`｡)

I've been thinking about this AU and scene for so long and I'm so happy that I finally made it a reality. I'm not used to drawing angsty stuff, so I mostly sobbed pathetically all the time imagining the storm of emotions the three of them would get through in this scene  T___T

Long story short: I was flirting with the possibility what if the syringe in s3 ep18 got broken. Armin and Erwin die. Hange takes a risky decision - to leave Bert alive and imprison him instead to find out more about titans.

At first Bert is not willing to cooperate, and communication fails. But gradually they become kinda friends with Hange. He remains imprisoned but is not treated like a prisoner anymore. Hange visits him regularly and even brings him books from Marley survey mission. Bert tells some common things about titans that Hange doesn’t know tho.

When the Rumbling begins, Bert hears Eren's command, addressed to the titans in the walls, and being the holder of essentially the same titan*, he transforms, following the command, destroying the place of his imprisonment. But, unlike other titans, Bert has the mind and will so he fights Eren’s command and doesn’t join other titans. Then he accidentally finds Annie at a fair in the nearest town, and then together they encounter Reiner and other characters in the forest.

The scene on the art is an alternate s4 ep25, the trio finally reunites after 4 years during which Reiner thought Bertolt was dead and Annie was listed as missing.

* - i once came across a short comics with this idea, and I liked it a lot so I decided to pick it up and adjust to my AU only that it that comics Bert joined other titans. I wanted to add a link to this comics but failed to find it. Maybe someone will recognize it and send me a link? UPD I found this comic!

Y'all keep asking me about headcanons for various things, and the problem is I just don't have many of them 😂 I'm better at "what do you think their thoughts or reactions would be to XYZ?" questions. If I'm coming up with something like a headcanon, at that point it may as well just be me writing a scene in a fanfic. That's the same muscle in my brain such a thing works, I think.

I stand by the cuteness aggression thing though.

As for the REASON we get a highlight of his car, that this is a big thing that has changed in the long interim, I think the whole point is to refer back to Katsuki's desire for status symbols in the first chapter but ESPECIALLY to refer back to Katsuki mouthing off to Endeavor for having a small car as the top hero. It lets Katsuki have one of his dreams unambiguously come true, damn it. (It also emphasizes Katsuki's point about thinking highly enough of oneself to live a little, damn nerd.)

My understanding of the term asshii(-kun) is that it's a reference to something from like the late 80's or early 90's? Some old pop culture joke. I don't know the origins or context myself. You're welcome to try to look it up knowing that. I think some other people may have already talked about it (or may be about to).

I really wonder what happened in that almost hour long time period between CXS dying and LG diving. Since LG was hurt when he got the photo, and I don't assume that Vein just... you know, LEFT, I guess there was a fight? Do you think LG went feral again? Or did Vein think he'd die from his wound(s?) and just left him to bleed out?

(Also I guess an interesting thought, that all of that doesn't matter anymore once he's diving 🤔)

Also, CXS was WAY too relaxed about him having powers? "Wait, so you DO have powers?? Wow." Uh, not how I would've reacted lol xD but then again, he said, he felt that he had a secret and that he "knew 2 people with eyes like yours", so... uh... what does that mean, CXS? (Except that your parents probably had powers, too)

The way LG looks at him. UGH. UUUUUGH my heart can't take it.

That scene on the couch where he hugs himself... after that soft smile. yeah, why not, break my heart again, sure sure...

LU GUANG. CANONICALLY. WEARS CHENG XIAOSHI'S CLOTHES!! The fucking cat hat wasn't a present to LG, it is CXS's!! (well, maybe he gifted it him anyway, but whatever xD he originally bought it for himself! Now I wanna draw him in that outfit lol??)

There were several moments in this that gave me Live Action feels. I don't remember all of them right now, but CXS calling LG handsome/beautiful was one of them and the "we're not even together, and she's breaking up with me?? T__T" cries come to mind. idk xD Makes me feel warm and fuzzy.

UUUUGH so yeah.

I really wonder if this is the current timeline or not. Or if we will see the deathscene one more time in the last episode?? Though "I'll use my last chance and go back to the beginning" kinda feels like that was the current one?? Or we will find out another reason why it might be the last chance...

Uh. Final thoughts?

It was A LOT less bad than I feared it was?? The blow from Cheng Xiaoshi's death scene was softened with all the cute and funny stuff later, so right now I actually regret not watching it before work lol

Animation quality was nice, but it's very obvious that the most of that episode's budget went into the first 10 minutes xD Not a complaint, just stating the obvious.

I like the new style, though I still think I slightly prefer Studio Lan's style? Can't even put into words exactly what it is.

Also I miss thick eyebrow Lu Guang =T Thankfully, at least the ending delivers on that front.

Lastly, I'm really not sure why they made this into one hour-long episode? It was pretty clearly meant to be two, with a very clear cut pretty much exactly in the middle, and two stories that are completed in themselves. I feel like that would've made more sense for the finale, when everything's going down? Idk.

(who knows, maybe we will still get that, so we get the full 8 episodes after all?)

You know, after your latest BECK update, I was wondering if you're planning to add more Edna and Freya moments through Annie's eyes (or better say, memories)? I really, really, really love this moment of previous shifters haunting the character in the present - we don't have anything of that sort about Annie, and sometimes I even feel like it's a very overlooked topic of her being a Warrior and inheriting the Titan at a VERY young age (younger than anyone else).

Of course, it's for obvious reasons why, but I'm just so, so, so glad you touch this topic and develop it. The latest BECK update is incredible, and because of the scene there, I was just wondering if Edna and Freya will appear in Annie's nightmares more, since it also seems like you've thought through this plotline 👀

I'm so glad to hear you say this, because I was so very nervous to add these elements to Annie's story T___T

In canon, titan memories play such a crucial role to some characters' arcs, like Eren, Armin and Porco, and even others like Zeke and Gabi are largely motivated by their relationship to their predecessor (or to her would-be predecessor in Gabi's case). This always made me wonder what was Annie's story in all this. Did she have any leftover memories? And if yes, what kind? Did she hate her predecessors? Admire them? Did she know them while they were alive? Did they have a good relationship or no?

Thus, Edna and Freya were born.

The characters will in fact return in future chapters, maybe not necessarily in the form of nightmares, but there will be more memories presented as seen through Annie's eyes. As you said, I've thought about their stories quite a lot, and while I plan to reveal less about them than in my original outline (where I felt like they were dominating the second part of the story), I still intend to explore their experiences, with Annie always as the focal point. Through these two, I also want to shed some light into how life was like for the Eldians in Marley before the time that we see in canon.

I hope I can do this justice!!

I am stuck having THOUGHTS.

Thoughts about how quickly Luz rushed on over to save Collector, screaming their title/name right before in a panic.

Thoughts about how King was a little slow with the "No", but how it clearly wasn't meant for Luz, but for Collector possibly dying. How, even in a feral state he protected Collector first and foremost.

How Eda ensured Collector was nudged away from her when she went feral, and how the Owl Beast was clearly also in pain at losing Luz but refusing to hurt the child they now know is innocent of the crimes their siblings committed.

How Luz, in her Titan Form, included him in the barrier alongside her two family members before she launched them all away from Belos.

These three really did teach this kid a valuable life lesson and adopt them huh?

🌈is there a fic that you worked *really fucking hard on* that no one would ever know? maybe a scene/theme you struggled with?

Hmm, yes and no. I mean, I feel like a lot of effort has gone into Stars Above, but I didn't really struggle with it in terms of not knowing what to write, just in that I want it to be *perfect.* I have rewritten a lot of dialogue, or changed things here and there. It's a fic I always go back to and want to edit, even long after posting a chapter and I am not sure why. :D

💞what's the most important part of a story for you? the plot, the characters, the worldbuilding, the technical stuff (grammar etc), the figurative language

The characterization and an interesting plot. If the plot isn't interesting, the story itself is boring and no one will want to read it. If the characterization is done poorly, that's another reason not to read something. I am also particular on grammar, I guess. I hate finding a typo later, or a comma that doesn't really belong! lol.

🕯️was there a fic that was really hard on you to write, or took you to a place you didn't think it would take you?

No. LOL. I do all of this for fun. Nothing is difficult to write for me in terms of an emotional toll. If anything, maybe "The Existential Crisis of an Elder Duros," because I hate thinking about Cad Bane being old, sad, and alone. T___T.

My least Kudo'd fic is The Existential Crisis of an Elder Duros; or, "Had too much to drink." The same one I just mentioned as being sad. I think I did really well in deep-diving into Cad Bane's head. It was a character study, and I enjoyed writing it.

So, with this one we now actually reached the last picture of the regular Inktober. After this I do the announced Edgar Allan Poe Creeptober for the last remaining 7 days.

So this last one now brings us to Dragon Age one more time. With "shallow" I at first was about to go for Crestwood or the Fallow Mire. However in the end I decided to go for this scene instead.

A little bit of backstory from Carl's side of which I eventually wanted to make a little comic, once I am done with some of the other current projects.

The story as I got it so far - without wanting to spoiler too many details - was that Carl and his brother Jon got lost in the swamps at some point during their childhood and having to find their way out of it on their own.

We've seen Jon as I got him DA before during the first part of Heavens Wrath actually. However this is the first time I draw the brothers together as kids. Glad I ended up deciding to go for this scenery. Kinda in love how the boys turned out (Mini-Clover's way too precious, I freaking swear T___T)

Also glad I managed that torch effect. From the entire artwork that bit actually was the most challenging bit.

It's his thoughts when he sees Engel for the first time (a little spoiler since I'm planning to do a K pov take on that scene in the future). He sees in her something heartbreakingly familiar; his own hunger, the loneliness he knows so well, the desperation, he sees in her eyes what happens when people don't understand and see who you really are... This song is so tragic but also so beautiful and after I saw the music video I was like "Yep! König & Engel 100%"

So @evil-squint-etc another one for the König playlist...? 💕
