I wanted to request the “OC dressed by other OC” things but you’ve got so many!!! And they’re all so cool!! Would you mind saying what some of your favourite ones’ styles are (i.e. mod, psychedelic, hippie, glam, etc.)?
Love your art❤️
oh I am always up to talk about my characters and thank you for sending this!! I appreciate these sorta things because it’s a nice message AND I get to talk about my characters which helps me actually figure them out lmao
and I know you’re asking for my favourites but that is subject to change and I want to talk about all of them. and I’m not entirely sure exactly what styles of dress they each come under but I’ll use the terms where I see fit, and I’ll just. ramble about their individual dress styles. that’s the same thing right!
this is gonna be long (spoiler alert: IT IS) so to keep things short for those who don’t want to scroll through a mile long post, I’ll put it under the cut
so I’m gonna start with the starstrucks because they ARE my like. main characters. I am planning something with them which is in its very early stages of development but I’m hoping that when things around me settle down I can work on it a bit better than what I have (but I procrastinate the things I WANT to do so we’ll see. feel free to nag me about it though)
roger claire: considering he’s like. the main-main character (not intended, that was meant to be snowy but HERE WE ARE) his outfits and style of dress changes a lot but also it’s not that creative for a lot of it. at the start he wears more mod clothing, but he’s not that daring since he is pretty cautious. he had a strict family. anyway around 1965 he starts getting a lot more daring and he’s definitely not an extravagant dresser he does know how to dress sharply despite that so you get things like his peacoat that I DEFINITELY didn’t copy directly from micky dolenz on the cover of more of the monkees, and that really heavily decorated overcoat that’s 18th-century inspired but also Groovy, y’know? that sorta thing carries over into the seventies where he pretty much wears shirts with the sleeves rolled up, light coloured trousers, and a few t-shirts because Variety™. haven’t really thought about beyond that but he’d probably dress like a cool dad
pete sutton: he’s got sensory issues so he’s even MORE cautious in dress style than roger. main thing is turtlenecks though. and a lot of purple. there’s a quote about ray davies being the kink most likely to wear a tie offstage and I think pete’s the starstrucks’ equivalent
snowy smith: he’s got the most defined wardrobe out of the lot of them! black-and-blue striped jumper, a black peacoat, blue jeans, blue-green shirts, his leather jacket (which has blue-violet stripes on it so it’s unique from the million other jackets I draw) since he’s definitely on the rocker side of things and cuban-heeled beatle boots he doesn’t need since he’s already 6′1
charlie morris: REALLY mod. at the start of the story he has a collarless jacket with pink trimmings. his colours are yellow and green but I also always end up drawing him in red
davey peacock: mod, but the mod that your parents approve of. does get a bit more adventurous when his uncle, the manager, gets fired, and I gave him a union jack jacket like pete townshend had at some point lol. he also gives hippie clothing a shot around 1968 and in the eighties he has a mullet and not a good one
rory locking: SO MUCH ORANGE. aviator sunglasses, collared shirts with the first two buttons undone, his kinda short jacket that’s plasticky leather with a fluffy lining (those style jackets have a particular name don’t they? I can’t remember it) but like. there’s so much orange. why did I do that my markers are dying
mick lily: light was denim. that’s about it.
next we have the midnight delusions
jimmy jade: scarves. he has a gold embroidered black suit that I’ve drawn a couple of times and ALWAYS regret it because OW, pink, and a lot of black
teddy van alst: he has a leather jacket. wears interesting trousers and really plain shirts typically. he’s the one with the cool glam makeup even though it’s 1966 and glam isn’t exactly a thing yet. he’s a rocker though
arthur floyd: has a leather jacket like his bf teddy! it has roses embroidered on it. he has a rose sorta aesthetic going on, along with the blue-and-gold star outfit that I drew him in a couple of times. he’s sort of a carnaby street mod if that’s a thing lol
lucky littleproud: gonna be real with you he’s boring he wears colourful shirts and trousers that’s about it. I haven’t worked on him much :(
peter morrison: between hippie and mod. definitely more on the hippie side compared to his sibling
stevie maple (counting him here even though he kinda isn’t a Member): textured shirts, he’s more of an american mod. considering he IS american (unfortunately)
all of those side characters I have absolutely no idea how to group but are part of the same story as those two bands:
sylvia chase: mod, but she also doesn’t put much effort into her appearance. that’s the best way to describe her style
holly keys: she’s a model so literally whatever is the ‘hottest’ trend
james cassidy-bell: he dresses like brian jones in the early-mid sixties
katherine robinson: mod, and then the most avant-garde things she can find if she’s going in public. and a lot of red lipstick (that’s her Thing)
morgan morrison: MOD but also like that sorta soft aesthetic thing that was popular in like. 2017. because why not am I right
christopher goldstein: he is also a model but I draw him in really dandy-ish stuff a lot. him and jimmy sorta have a prep/goth dynamic going on
and that’s about it for the characters who really are gonna appear often enough to bother describing their dress styles! moving on now
keith neptune: band tshirts and anything with patches on it.
nico (haven’t come up with his surname yet, if y’all have suggestions I’ll take it): baggy jeans, sneakers, baggy tshirts, and has a denim vest with patches on it but Different types of patches to keith. if keith has the sorta etsy partches nico has ‘I pickpocketed these from a bikey who hasn’t showered in a month from a servo in the middle of nowhere’ patches
grey: they have a brow leather jacket that I think was inspired by jim morrison, a stamp out the beatles jumper, and a really big and motheaten black woolen jumper which they wear with beatle-boots, a white collared shirt, and like. not black jeans but very desaturated blue jeans that happen to be very dark
jude anne sutton (yes I know she and pete have the same surname they’re not related they’re in different universes): mod. enough said
rene shannon: mod but boring. he’s Repressed y’know
leslie (I’m gonna change her surname lol): honestly mainly shift dresses and that one really simple black-and-white dress, and their ripoff black watch tartan jacket, and tall boots.
danny: honestly? he dresses like a mod but at heart he’s a rocker. he’s a rocker who washes
that One character I won’t name: it’s complicated. he goes from trying to be a teddy boy with the rest of his friends and then it goes a little wrong and they fight about it and then they discover early rocker culture and he sticks with that for a while and then starts dabbling in more mod stuff and then DEFINITELY his style changes into the dandy stuff of the middle of the sixties. you know the stuff I’m talking about. and then he’s a hippie for about two seconds and goes back to dandy stuff but throws a few of his old rocker pieces back in. THEN he has a breakdown and fucks off to america for three years (returning home like twice for two days before fucking off again) where he’s got a peacoat, his old leather jacket, a turtleneck, a few shirts, and two pairs of jeans. that’s it. for three years. and workboots obviously because he’s trainhopping. I have that part very worked out as you can tell!
harper (character I have sketched exactly Once but have his style very sorted out): he starts off pretending to be a teddy boy in the way that a fifteen-year-old with a highly overprotective and lowkey horrible mother would probably be. he is also kinda Broke for that exact reason. and then he and the above character get into more rocker stuff and that’s probably where the two drift apart and where rene/jude/leslie/whoever else I may come up with would come in
anyway!!! I think that’s every character I have a defined style for. some of it’s a little hard to explain but I hope this cleared things up. I have also had a migraine for most of today so my ability to use words is extra impaired lmao!
and I’m so sorry for just. rambling. but I do have a lot of characters and I love them all so much and I’m so happy you like them too!!!

- some resources on disability representation, random tumblr posts, and the family free of the Julio-Claudian dynasty
- super random tumblr blogs?? including the demo.tumblr.com??? idek
- oh boi. A super mega amount of tumblr blogs. How am I supposed to open these?? If I open all the tabs I’ll make my laptop crash... I’m not opening them. Most are unfamiliar, probably fandom blogs that changed their url twice a month, but I can spot a few I still follow :) Congrats, I “followed” you long before I had a blog myself.
Well, this was anticlimatic. Apparently, past me already got rid of all the wild stuff. There’s not even a SINGLE Glee thing? Not one? From 2014? Wait, what was airing in 2014? Season 5? Yeah, maybe that’s a reason. Still.
NEVERMIND I FOUND THEM, they’re no longer saved in a browser, I had changed laptops or sth and I had copied my bookmarks in a email I sent to myself so I could find the links again (which obviously says I made a selection, who knows how many bookmarks were lost. I don’t want to know lmao). I obviously have no reason, time or will to open them, but I can tell you I had divided them in categories:
- uni courses; Japan/Japanese; manga; philosophy and academical stuff; recipes; mixed [oh boi there’s some weird stuff here]; very useful sites; quotes & lyrics [what for?]; videos; Glee stuff; Glee art from DeviantArt; Glee tumblr blogs; Klaine-specific tumblr blogs; Supernatural stuff; Destiel-specific; my most used sites; Deviant Art - fanart [not specified, so I’m betting this is manga fanart - correction from some urls I can tell this is yaoi fanart, yep]; Deviant Art - non-fanart; watercolor images; Deviant Art - food; Deviant Art - pictures of Japan; something very embarrassing I’m not admitting it [no it’s not porn, that would be less embarrassing]; assorted tumblr posts; Supernatural meta; other tumblr posts.
So yeah that was my 2013, how was yours?

hello! thank u for the link to the movie but um i tried looking up the site kankanwa but it yielded no results unfortunately but i was wondering how legit is the site? is it a legit and popular host for media? the site just made my browser crash and tanked my laptop pretty badly (i should have asked this before fucking it up lmao oops)
i’ve been using kankanwu since the start of the untamed to watch, and it’s never given me much problems? and yeah it’s pretty popular + they are no pop-up ads which i really like, but i suppose it could be incompatible with some browsers or iOS or systems? i’m using chrome and i’m on a pretty old mac as well, sorry to hear your laptop crashed badly because of that
you can try entering the word kankanwu into google and searching from there instead if the link doesn’t work for you! but i’ll put a warning in my original post then if that’s the case XD

#50 Austin Wiley - Senior, Birmingham, AL
Auburn brings back a veteran Austin Wiley for his senior season, which feels laughable when reading those words on my screen. The seven footer came to Auburn early and played the second half of the 2016-17 season as a high school senior. As a kid that year, Wiley still started all 18 conference games and averaged 8.8 points/4.8 rebounds per game. Wiley hit his peak in late January that year, when in a 3 game stretch (home vs Bama, at South Carolina and TCU) he averaged 18 points/9 rebounds.
Expectations were sky high for the Auburn legacy going into the 2017-18 season. Already one of the highest rated recruits Auburn had ever signed, he was going to get another year to develop with THE highest ranked recruit Auburn ever signed, Mustapha Heron. The team looked primed to finally climb out of the basement of the SEC, and led by Wiley and Heron, could they maybe make the tournament?
Today we learned that Austin Wiley and Danjel Purifoy were the two players connected to the Chuck Person investigation. This didn’t come as a shock to those who had followed the story and the Auburn basketball program. It was always going to be 2 of Auburn’s 3 NBA prospects, Danjel, Wiley, or Heron. It appears that Chuck Person paid $11,000 to Purifoy’s mother and $7,500 to Wiley’s mother.
On the morning of the exhibition against Berry, Auburn ruled Wiley and Purifoy ineligible indefinitely. As you all know by now, the two didn’t play at all in the 2017-18 campaign, despite the NCAA waiting ALL DAMN SEASON before ruling them officially ineligible, even though they ruled on a similar case for Collin Sexton and Alabama in early November. It was, to say the least infuriating.
After having his sophomore season stolen from him, Wiley was ready to come back and make a splash last season. However, leg injuries slowed him in the offseason, and lingered throughout the rest of the season. Wiley never truly got in a grove last season, and missed 9 games during conference play. After playing 22 minutes against Ole Miss as Auburn opened up conference play, Wiley never played more than 14 minutes in any game. He was never fully healthy in conference or post-season play, and added a dislocated thumb to his injury report to make matters worse. Wiley was effective when he played, but the eye test showed he was laboring. His final numbers show that in 13 minutes per game, Wiley averaged 6.9 points and 4 rebounds. His per 40 minutes stats, though, show him averaging 21.2 points/12.4 rebounds/3.9 blocks - all three numbers led the team. He also was a machine at getting to the line, averaging 9 FTA per 40 minutes. The next highest regular on the team was Jared Harper, with 5.5/40 min.
Interestingly enough, Wiley played probably his best career game against Duke last season, posting 17 points and 9 rebounds on 7-11 from the field. As Auburn struggled to get anything going inside, Bruce leaned on 3 point shooting from Jared and Bryce and paint points from Wiley to get the job done.
This is the kind of shot #50 needs to hit to be effective, as he lacks a true jump shot. He can use his size to body up defenders around the restricted area and create a clean look, but he was unable to do so when the injuries piled up later in the season. This highlight may not be the perfect example of what Wiley can do under the basket, but it has to be taken into account that the defender here is Zion Williamson. Not many guys in the country are going to be able to hold their ground against Wiley.
As Crow likes to mention on the Orange and True from time to time, peak Austin Wiley becomes a black hole for opposing defenses to deal with in the paint. As you can see in the previous highlight, Wiley is drawing the double team from Duke, with #5 RJ Barrett crashing in to help #20 Marques Bolden. A healthy Wiley is going to force teams to double him, and that’s going to leave shooters open outside for Auburn to take advantage of, like Bryce above. This season, I think you’ll see a lot of Danjel Purifoy being the guy taking advantage of open threes when defenders help on Austin.
Your browser does not support HTML5 video.
One of the things I’ll be looking for this year out of Wiley is how well he runs. If last year’s leg injuries slowed him as much as I think, getting him back to running the court and catching oops from J’Von McCormick will be a big plus to this offense. Also, I really wanted to share that highlight.
If you notice, the previous three highlights took place over the span of less than two game minutes. Wiley took over the game at this point for Auburn, and took what was looking to be a blowout for Duke and re-energized Auburn for the stretch run.
Wiley’s defense is nothing to be ignored, either. Last season, Wiley reeled in 18% of all available rebounds and blocked 13% of all opponent two-point attempts while he was on the floor. That block number isn’t 13% of all 2-points attempts against him directly - that’s 13% of all attempts against any defender on the floor. And if the average rebound% is 10% (since there are 10 players on the floor at any given time), Austin almost doubling that is a pretty respectable number. In the scrimmage against Eckerd, Wiley was feeling good enough to attempt (and complete) blocks out at the arc. If you can’t tell, I’m EXTREMELY excited to see Wiley on the court this season. If he can simply perform at pre-injury levels from last year, he’ll be a dominant force on the court. Any growth on that is gravy.
#13 Babatunde “Stretch” Akingbola - Freshman, Ogun, Nigeria
Backing up Wiley at center is a new face. Stretch was a bit of a mystery during the last few years, with visa issues preventing him from returning to the United States for his senior year of high school. He had previously attended McEachern High School in Atlanta during his junior year, where he played with Issac Okoro and Shariffe Cooper. Can you imagine that? Put yourself in the shoes of a kid at North Cobb High School, maybe you’ve grown up being the best basketball player in any team you’ve played on, maybe you’ve got some DII or low-level DI offers. And then you go play McEachern, who’s throwing three highly coveted recruits who end up committed to a Final Four team at you. It’s just not fair, man.
The only bit of live basketball I’ve seen out of Stretch was at the scrimmage against Eckerd, but he looked more than ready to be an SEC role player. He added 2 rebounds and 2 blocks in 8 minutes of play to go with a bucket in the paint and free throw made. He’s probably going to look a bit unpolished being a freshman and not having played high school ball last season, but he has been drawing praise from his teammates about his energy and vocal leadership while on the court. At 6’10” 240 lbs, he adds another big body that Auburn desperately needed the last few years.
Other Options
With the graduation of Horace Spencer, Anfernee McLemore will be the only other player with experience at the 5 on the roster. In fact, McLemore has the most experience at the 5, having started there the majority of the last few years. At a slightly smaller 6’7” 220 lbs, though, he will be asked to split time with Danjel Purifoy at power forward this season. He’s a more natural fit at the 4, where he can not have to worry about playing offense down low as much and play more defense against perimeter shooters than he would at the 5. I think ultimately that’s a net positive for him, as he can use his size and leaping instincts to block more shots outside than he can against guys bigger than him in the paint.
Ultimately, I expect Wiley and Stretch to play most of the minutes at the five this season. If foul trouble or injuries crop up, McLemore would be the next man up there. The size and depth Auburn has at the position has improved drastically over the last two seasons, though. They’ve come a long way since having to play Horace and Chuma there at the end of the 2018 season.

I made the input box display output in <div>s!
Tumblr media
Then I forgot to make a commit before adding another input box, during which I managed to break the first one! Oops.
And then I fixed it!
Tumblr media
And then I did make a commit! But the code behind this, even though it works and is very exciting, is not great. I cleaned up the code and also made it work on keyup events. (This means it updates whenever I type a letter, instead of updating only every time I change the contents of the field and then click outside of it. It’s a lot more convenient to work with.)
Now that I have a convenient testing environment, the next step is to make the partial-word suggester work! This may take a slight rearrangement of the methods I’m already using, since a corpus sorted by binary patterns of text is not the most efficient to find words by first few letters in.
I also wrote a lot more things on this post but then did not save the draft and accidentally did an infinite recursion in my prototype which crashed my browser and lost me the post! :(
Quick summary: I thought about algorithms for a long time and then decided to use a weird version of tries I invented.

Fight the power... but protect ya neck
Day 8 after the election I woke up to an email from a friend saying we'd had our mourning time, that now we must stand up and move forward; act. So I did...which for me always has to start with walking the dog.
On that walk I started thinking about this concept of a Muslim registry. I started thinking about the Trump cabinet appointees: every new announcement a fresh insult to [fill in the blank with whatever issue you care about]. And I decided that I wanted to fight back in whatever funny, hurtful, provocative way I could.
So I made something. Something satirical. Something fierce but, ultimately, benign: I made a National Registry of White Men. It was a Google doc pasted into a Tumblr. Ya know, kid stuff. I registered Donald Trump and tweeted at him to tell him so. I did the same to Bannon, Sessions, McConnell, the Trump Jrs, etc... At 4:00pm that Thursday afternoon I posted the project to my Facebook in order to collect some 'data' for it.
At 5:30pm a friend asked me to make the post public so she could share it. Not thinking, I obliged. 24 hours later I was being personally insulted by random strangers while simultaneously being contacted by reporters. Funny: a disproportionately large number of my Facebook messages were from people with Russian sounding names...
By the time I woke up at 8:00am on Saturday the death and doxxing threats had started to roll in. The twitter Nazis and Klansmen were getting @me. A friend said I was being discussed on 4chan, so I went and checked it out. I would not describe what I found as 'kind'. Too bad I had a full work day and no time to manage the security settings on all my social media accounts, nor to scour the net for all the places where info on me and my whereabouts could be located.
That night as I scrambled to remember the logins for my five different web host providers the anonymous text messages with my home address started coming in. I don't scare easily, but I would be lying if I said my heart rate didn't increase exponentially every time I got a new ding on my phone. That went on for weeks.
I was caught with my pants down, and had poked the hornets nest known as the alt-right. Oops. Now sure, I brought this on myself. Any reporter or activist will tell you this is par for the course. But did the women of Gamergate expect this? Did Arrington de Dionyso? No, and you won't either.
In the 21st century we fight 21st century wars. The DC fuccbois, (as I'm now calling them) have drones, voter supression, water cannons, surveillance, debt. The angry lone mercenaries out there in Walking Dead Amerikkka have the internet, doxxing, malware, and (failing those) semi-automatic weapons. Our online presences leave us vulnerable to both parties, to say nothing of your run of the mill stalkers and angry exes. And I'm here to tell you the media is not on your side. They'll publish where you go to high school after you get blocked on twitter by Donald Trump. After all, they must tell your story, and your whereabouts are simply all the news that's fit to print.
If you're anything like me your digital footprint is yuge and can't be cleaned up in a day...or even ten...kinda like an oil spill. So that's why I am urging you: #resist, but protect ya neck first. And proceed with caution.
In Solidarity, Candace Thompson
