As a pro tip, smarmily asking nursing staff "what it takes to speed [treatment for your friend's extremely non-urgent problem] up, do I need to buy you pizza?" then standing outside your friend's room for two hours staring at the nursing staff, incessantly and irritatedly asking when the specialist would get here, and not taking "you are not their only patient, they are working on getting here as fast as they can but we can't guarantee a time" (when said specialist was running around the entire damn hospital trying to find the very specific size of equipment the patient needs) for an answer does NOT actually endear you to nursing staff and CERTAINLY does not mean I am prioritizing your speedy discharge over my other patients' needs just because you are trying to annoy and bully us into getting rid of you (or worse, actually are that entitled). Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

#this particular kind of obnoxious behavior (specifically from men of a certain religiously ultra-orthodox population in this city)...#...always comes with a nice heaping dose of misogyny and condescension towards any staff they perceive to be female #from the staring at my fanny pack stickers I don't think they were happy about my pride flag either #i don't think patients owe it to kowtow to nurses but I can't stand the ppl who come in...#...acting like there MUST be some secret cheat code to making things happen in the ER fast & they can art of the deal their way into it #...and getting angry when they find out their care is based on acuity and availability just like everyone else #there is a secret cheat code and it's called ACTIVELY DYING and short of that no you're not getting special treatment #adventures in nursing
