warnings: blood/wound/stitches mentions, johnny hates hospitals but he likes the pretty doctor, [im not a doctor nor a boxer pls dont say that i have info wrong because I Know]

author’s note: i know this isnt long to some of u but to me it is and i havent written this much for so long im so proud of myself for finishing this:( it isnt that good but this is the first long fic ive written in a while and shhsdjk also i needed to get this out of my system ive thought about this au since that jcc came out where johnny and hyuck was doing muay thai plssss (i couldnt find a better gif tho) ok this is getting too long / feedback is appreciated tysm

Johnny Suh hated hospitals with a burning passion.

It wasn't from a past trauma nor was he afraid of it, it wasn't that serious. He wasn't exactly sure what the cause of it really was. If he had to make a guess, it was probably from the accumulation of the little things, the insignificant factors people would usually dismiss but bothered him enough that it contributed to the big hatred he built for hospitals.

Maybe it was the distinct smell of hospitals, it reeked of death and old people. Maybe it was the atmosphere of the fluorescent-lit hallways, always gloomy and heavy. Maybe it was also the fact that the fees were so expensive and yet the food they provide tasted horrible, even the coffee was a hit or miss. The only upside he could think of was people get better in hospitals, but even that wasn't assured.

Despite how much Johnny despised hospitals, he always finds himself coming back. If he wanted to get better, he had no choice but to go. He would endure the gruesome process over and over again whether it be to treat his wounds or to stitch his cuts.

With his jaw littered with small bruises and his lips busted at the corner, he sat impatiently on the hospital bed as he waited for his doctor. He was fiddling with his fingers, knuckles bruised the same way his face was. He looked beaten up, he always did.

The clothes he wore contradicted the state he was in, they were fresh and laid back. He looked like a college student from the way he dressed. A delinquent more like, if one considered his cuts and bruises. Before heading to the hospital, he always makes it a point to shower and make himself appear presentable to the public. Although no one really bothers to take notice of his effort, only him.

The sliding door opened and Johnny's attention shot up from his phone, his gaze meeting with yours. Your head popped in, peaking through the small crack you made. Your eyes lit up in recognition as it always did whenever you see him.

"Youngho-ssi?" You spoke almost as if it was a question, voice barely above a whisper to make sure you were in the correct room, about to tend the correct patient.

Johnny didn't understand why you always did that, call out his name as if this was the first time you were seeing him. At that point, you've been already acquainted with him enough due to his numerous trips to the hospital. Either way, he nods every time.

You gave him a small smile, widening the door enough so you could enter. You wore a white lab coat, a name tag pinned to your chest and a stethoscope hung around your neck. You were small, although anyone compared to him was bound to be comparatively smaller – that wasn't the point, you looked young and that never fails to astound him every time you go through the door.

You had a clipboard in your hands, scanning through what he assumed to be his condition that a nurse had written earlier after a quick checkup and disinfection of his open wound. Your lips were formed on a tight line, eyebrows furrowed. He continued to stare at you with such amusement.

"You don't have to answer my question, Youngho-ssi, but why are you always here?" You finally broke the silence, startling him in the slightest. You never bothered to ask before, always just offering smiles and small talks while you did your work; maybe his sudden regularity of coming to the hospital recently made your curiosity peaked.

He couldn't blame you. Anybody would be curious why a 24-year-old man keeps coming back to the hospital with no clear explanation.

He cleared his suddenly dry throat, he never liked saying his job. He said, "I box for a living."

"Ah, that makes sense!" Your eyes visibly glimmered, absentmindedly jotting down notes on his medical records. "My coworkers and I thought you were in a gang or something."

"I don't think I would be allowed to be here if I was." He chuckled, making you giggle as well.

"Seo Youngho, 24, minor lip laceration in need of immediate suture." You read of his data from the clipboard, almost comically. It was medical terms he was unfortunately already too familiar with, to him, it basically meant that he had a busted lip that needs to be sewed shut.

"You can just call me Johnny. Youngho sounds too formal to me." He said nonchalantly. You nodded your head to his simple request; it probably was best if you got to know him better since he frequented the hospital so much.

"Alright, Johnny. We'll start the process now, okay?"

With keen eyes, he watched you slip on a pair of surgical gloves. You grabbed a tissue from the metal tray that sat beside him and began folding it into squares. He felt his heartbeat quicken, he hated getting stitches or any form of medical treatments for that matter, but as morbid as it was, he thought of it as punishment for his recklessness in the ring.

"Isn't boxing just, I don't know, senseless violence?" You asked, tone dripping with pure innocence and unadulterated interest as you gently dabbed away the remaining dried blood the nurse failed to clean earlier.

"It's a sport, it's how I bring money to the table." He pursed his lips, ignoring the twinge of pain that surged through his nerves. He visibly relaxed when you placed a hand onto his shoulder to reassure him.

Ever since the first time you got assigned to him, the first thing he took note of was the softness of your hands. You handled him as if he was fragile glass, despite how he easily towered over you. He felt pathetic as a 24-year-old but your gentle touches would greatly help put him at ease.

"I guess. I didn't mean to be rude." You were hesitant, Johnny could tell but he was glad you didn't push on any further. He couldn't handle explaining his occupation when you were about to pierce his skin. "Okay, Johnny, now that your lip is clean and the anesthesia had seeped in, we'll start. I think you know how it goes by now."

"Make it quick, please." He nodded, squinting his eyes shut at the mere contact of a surgical pen grazing over his gaped lips. You were relieved that his cut wasn't too big, you couldn't stomach the idea of putting him in too much pain for longer.

As you picked up the tweezers and string of nylon, you couldn't help but laugh at the six-foot boxer in front of you who was clearly petrified of getting stitches, "This will be done as soon as you know it. You won't really feel it because of the anesthesia, remember? Now count to a hundred backward for me."

Once the numb feeling of nylon dragged through his lips, he swore he saw white spots flicker in his vision. His eyes immediately watered and he tried his best not to squirm under your hold, beginning to count to a hundred backward like you had instructed him to. You admitted it to him the first time you stitched him that it was a trick that you learned from your pediatrician friend. Despite it being for children, it helped to get him distracted while you focused on your job.

Minutes felt like hours, Johnny had been fighting the urge to punch something, anything, to release tension and nerves. Swallowing the lump in his throat, he took a peak and tried to take his attention away from what was currently happening on his lip. His gaze landed on your pretty eyes, how it was narrowed in focus and how your lashes perfectly framed it.

This wasn't the first time he'd observe you up close, there had been many occasions in the past that you had been too close for comfort in order to tend his wounds. It had been too many that it was almost as if he was close to memorizing your features. You were not only beautiful but you were also a smart and capable doctor.

Eventually, you finished and started to rub ointment on his sore lip — the finishing line.

"Try not to eat anything spicy or hard. You know the drill." You grinned at his suddenly pale features, ripping off your gloves as his eyes adjusted to the bright lights of the room. "You're good to go. Be careful next time."

He let out a shaky breath, clearly still winded up from the procedure, "I'll try. Thanks again, doc."

The punching bag felt great against Johnny's fists. There wasn't a feeling in the world that could compare to the impact of leather slamming against his skin. He could last hours mindlessly pummeling the bag if his stamina just allowed him to.

Hyunsik, Johnny's manager and personal trainer, drew away from the punching bag he held in between his arms. He let out a breath and held out a hand to motion that Johnny has done enough.

Johnny was hurting, Hyunsik could see that much. The bandages he had wrapped for the boxer's fingers were turning into a shade of red that they were all too familiar with.

Hyunsik clicked his tongue, "You should've used your gloves."

"How can I grow stronger if I keep relying on them?" Johnny rolled his eyes. His muscles needed a boost and this seemed to be the only logical way to strengthen them — a little blood never hurt anybody.

"Someday you're gonna fracture your hand and you'll be forced out of the ring. Remember that." Hyunsik huffed, his voice stern. "Take them off, I'll clean the blood off."

Johnny reluctantly did as told, unfurling the bandages wrapped around his fingers. The pain was excruciating when the fabric grazed along his tender skin, he winced at the unsightly view of his reopened wounds.

Hyunsik led him back outside of the ring to the benches where the first aid kit was. He made the boxer sit down so he could start cleaning off his wounds. It looked horrific, more so than it usually did and he had no choice but to break the news to Johnny.

"It looks really bad. You need to go get that checked in the hospital and have it sewed back." Hyunsik said, taking a wet towel and carefully dabbing it across Johnny's bloodied knuckles.

He didn't want to go to the hospital. Going to the hospital to have his wounds treated meant that Johnny would be medically required to take days off work to let his hand heal. Johnny frowned, "Don't you have an ointment or something that could help? I can't afford to lose a day of practice."

"Don't you think I know that?" Hyunsik rolled his eyes. "As your manager, I want you to be in top shape for your match next week, even if it means sacrificing a day or two for you to heal."

Johnny could only nod. He sat through Hyunsik's lecture on the changes he should make to his dietary plan and the exercises he should do during his temporary break. It infuriated him that he couldn't do anything about it but nod along.

The incoming match that was set next week would make or break his career as an underground boxer. He didn't have the option of missing it because of some measly reopened wounds. If he had to rest to get better, he had no choice but to suck it up. This was his fault anyway for pushing himself too much.

Johnny showered in the locker rooms and changed into nicer clothes that didn't reek of blood and sweat. His hands were stinging but he shook it off.

He ignored the concerned looks other boxers were giving him and begrudgingly made his way to the hospital to get himself checked in. You wouldn't be happy to see him all bloodied again, he thought.

Much to Johnny's surprise, it wasn't you who was assigned to him. It was a much older doctor with graying hair and a nose stuck too far up in the air. She was rude and condescending, her lack of politeness to her patients was quite appalling. If Johnny wasn't in such a bad mood, he might've complained already.

God, this day couldn't get any worse.

With a meek voice, Johnny asked where you were and at the mention of your name, his doctor gave him a narrowed look. She sneered, "She's handling much more important cases. Does she know you?"

"I think so." Johnny gulped, unsure of the answer himself.

The doctor's grip was tight and she was hasty. It was as if she was trying to speed through the process to just get it over with. Johnny wanted to cry because he was starting to get traumatized by this doctor's procedure, he didn't want to hate the hospital more than he already did.

He internally screamed for your name as he watched the doctor pull on the gloves. The sliding door harshly whipped open and there you were in all your glory, like an angel sent from above to save him from the devil incarnate who was about to pierce his skin.

You were panting and the sheen on your forehead made it obvious that you ran your way to his room. Johnny's heart leaped with glee.

"Unnie, I'll handle him." You said, unable to catch your breath as you made your way inside. "I think the ER needs you more than me."

The doctor seemed hesitant at first but you tried to convince her otherwise. She eventually agreed and left you with Johnny who had a cheesy smile on his face the entire time since you've arrived.

"So Johnny, what happened this time?" You asked, picking up the clipboard that sat next to him on the bed.

"I overdid the punching during training and it reopened some old wounds on my knuckles. It hurts like a bitch."

You pulled a face, "That's a bit intense."

He chuckled, "It's normal."

"Can I please see it?" You opened your palm so he could place his hand on yours. You observed his cuts and the scabs that were beginning to form around it, it was too deep to let it heal on its own so you made the verdict that he needed to get it sewed back together ⁠— as unfortunate as it was since he was a boxer and he needed his hands to box.

You tugged on a new pair of gloves and began the painful procedure, Johnny started counting down even without you instructing him to. You quickly got to work and stitched back his wounds with your lip in between your teeth

Johnny felt squeamish, he could never get used to the feeling of stitches. His eyes were glued shut and he mumbled numbers like it was mantra.

Once you were done, you smiled fondly at your work. You managed to get by with fewer stitches and you felt pride swell up in your chest. Johnny noticed and, as lightheaded as he was, couldn't help but smile as well.

"You're pretty good."

"At stitching?"

Johnny nodded with his cheeks flushed, he made a mental reminder to smack himself in the head later for such a crude comment. You probably thought he was an idiot now.

"I sure hope so." You chuckled, making him blush even deeper if that was even possible. "It's part of my job."

Johnny shook his head in embarrassment, his dark hair bouncing from how vigorously he did it. He mumbled, "That sounded really lame and not smooth, I'm sorry. Please forget I opened my mouth."

You could only chuckle as you apply the ointment around his knuckles. He wanted the ground to open up and just swallow him whole.

"Please let this heal completely, Johnny. Don't apply any strain on your injuries for a couple of days and refrain yourself from carrying anything heavy so that the stitches won't rip." You said, carefully placing down his hand back on his knee. You were gentle as ever, Johnny swooned. "Absolutely no punching for a while."

"I have an important match at the end of next week. Is there any way to speed up the healing process?" Johnny asked, his eyes were almost pleading at you and you blinked at him in surprise.

"Apart from what I just said, there's really nothing else you could do." You pursed your lips, watching his expression visibly deflate. "If you want to have even a sliver of a chance at winning your match, I suggest you do as I say. Your stitches won't take too long to heal, I promise."

If Hyunsik was there with him, he would've probably already scolded him but the point would be the same. He had always prioritized Johnny's health above winning.

"Okay, doc. I'll do my best." Johnny said, defeated.

"You know, I always see the aftermath of your matches and your training. I want to see you in the ring next time when you're not bloody and beaten up yet." You smiled at him and you swore that all the color that was previously drained from Johnny's face came rushing back. "If it's okay."

"Are you serious?" Johnny asked, almost dumbfounded. Did the pretty doctor he'd been crushing on for months really just asked if she could watch his match?

You nodded with the same hue of red now tainting your cheeks.

"O-Of course! It's on Saturday next week! Please come and cheer me on!" Like a little kid, he excitedly rambled on about the details about the upcoming match and you nodded with the same enthusiast as you wrapped bandages around his hands.

You weren't from his world so everything he said sounded foreign to you. The terms he said, the infamy of his opponents, the prominence of it all — you were eager to learn it if it meant seeing him this happy.

You've always known that he hated hospitals. It was clear from the way he acted during your first meeting. He was stiff and tense, the body language he exuded just screamed that he wanted nothing more than to get the hell out of there. As he visited the hospital more and more, you noticed the hatred never faltered. He only became better at hiding it from you.

To see him so relaxed and carefree within the four walls he hated with all his being, it was a breath of fresh air and the feeling you had in your chest grew stronger.

"You're good to go. I promise to see you in your match." You were jotting some last-minute details on the clipboard and you missed the way Johnny kept grinning like an idiot. "As much as I love seeing you here, I hate that you keep getting yourself injured. Keep out of trouble for me, Johnny."

You left the room without letting Johnny say another word.

Fuck, Johnny realized he hadn't asked for your number.

Johnny's match started in ten minutes. His heart was pounding in his ears, he almost couldn't hear what Hyunsik was shouting to him.

The underground stadium was filled to the brim with people, he felt more nervous than he did during his first boxing match. A lot was at stake for this win, he needed the belt. He was desperate for it.

"Johnny, are you listening to me?" Hyunsik raised his voice, aggressively slapping Johnny's cheeks together in his hands so he could focus on him. The boxer's mind was fleeting and it was his job to pull him back to reality now.

He hadn't seen you since last week and as much as he wanted to go back to the hospital to see you, he refused to badly hurt himself in the days that led up to the match. Johnny scanned the crowd for your face but he couldn't see it. You weren't there.

At the lack of your turnout, he failed to mask his disappointment. Hyunsik let out an aggravated groan and pulled the boxer on his feet to berate him further.

"Johnny, please for the love of all things holy, look me in the eye."

"I'm sorry. I'm okay now. I'm listening."

"Good because your match is starting soon and I need you to win this. All your hardships and sacrifices boils down to this match, you hear me?" Hyunsik bellowed, trying his best to keep his voice louder than the cries and chants of the audience. "Show them what Johnny Suh is capable of!"

Johnny nodded fervently, forcing himself into a state of serenity of peacefulness. He let out heavy breaths to even out his breathing as his team surrounded him, prepping him for what was about to come.

Hyunsik raised his hand at Johnny. He had five minutes left until his match started and he wasn't calming down.

"Can I please have some water?" Johnny asked and his medic stumbled on his feet to fetch him a bottle from the nearby cooler. He couldn't help but let out a shaky chuckle, his team seemed tenser than he was.

He downed the bottle as soon as it reached his hand. His hand was shaky. Goddammit, why was he so nervous?

At the corner of his eye, he saw Hyunsik making his way over to the barricade that separated his corner to the rest of the stadium. He arched his neck in a way that would let him take a peek what was so important that Hyunsik had to leave his side when the match was starting in a few minutes.

It seemed like Hyunsik was trying to stop a girl who was forcing her way in through the barricade. His stomach lurched at the sight of her familiar face.

As if he was acting purely on instinct, Johnny shot up from his seat and ran towards you. Hyunsik held up his arm to stop him from going any closer to you. You could've been a deranged fan, for all Hyunsik knows.

"Johnny-"

"I know her."

Hyunsik was startled at his response and started to profusely apologize to you. You looked nothing but smug and Johnny let out a breathy laugh that helped unravel the knots in his stomach. The boxer quietly motioned for him to take his leave and Hyunsik hesitantly did as told only after tapping his wrist as a sign that time was ticking.

You bowed at him apologetically, "I'm so sorry I'm late! There was this damn patient-"

"It's okay. You're here now." He cut you off, a cheesy smile on his face. You easily reciprocated it back.

"I just came down here to wish you good luck." You said with the usual confidence in your tone gone and now replaced with a sudden timidness and bashfulness. "Not like you need it or anything."

"Where are you sitting?" Johnny asked, noticing that you were struggling to keep your attention on his eyes. He peered down and realized that he didn't have a shirt on, he chuckled.

You pointed near the walls of the stadium and he strained his vision to see so far away. He pursed his lips and let out a noise of discontent. You said that it was the only seats available because you were so late.

"Why don't you sit here with them? They wouldn't mind." Johnny said, jutting his thumb over to his team who was furtively watching his interaction.

"Oh no, it's okay."

"I insist. I want you to see me win up close."

You blushed a deep shade of scarlet and Johnny grinned at his successful attempt at a flirt. Was it even a flirt or was it an ego stroke? Either way, it didn't matter because you were smiling at him. You were easing his nerves and you didn't even know.

"I got out of my shift early so I wouldn't be in the hospital later to stitch you up." You teased, softly prodding his shoulder blade.

Johnny playfully puffed out his chest, "I don't plan on getting too injured today, I wanna look cool in front of you."

"Whatever you say, Johnny."

"But I'm nervous. I'm actually really nervous today." Johnny mumbled as if he didn't want anyone else in on your conversation, gone all traces of his cockiness as his heart thudded erratically against his chest when he heard Hyunsik's call of the last minute until he has to go inside the ring.

You gingerly reached for his taped hands and gave it a gentle squeeze, "Just count back from a hundred like I always tell you to. You'll do fine."

"Wait for me after the match, okay?" And so you did.

Counting down the numbers, Johnny clambered inside the ring and the bell rang to signal the start of the match. Being in the medical field meant that you were against all forms of violence so you couldn't really watch the entirety of the match without feeling sick to your stomach. Johnny didn't care, he was just happy that you kept your promise and was cheering him on.

It was hectic and everything was happening all at once. It was loud and everybody was screaming. This wasn't your world, it was Johnny's and your heart fluttered at the thought that he was willing to let you in it.

Eventually, the match ended in Johnny's favor and the next thing you knew, you were being hoisted up in the air. You had the biggest smile on your face, similar to Johnny's who now had a shiny belt slung over his shoulder. All his hard work and all his trips to the hospital paid off.

"Congrats on your win!" You exclaimed, placing your palms on his chest to steady yourself.

"I wanted you to see me get the belt." He admittedly sheepishly, reaching out to hold your wrists in his bruised hands.

"Aren't you hurt in any way? We can drop by the hospital if you want." You asked, checking to see if he had any major injuries but true to his word, Johnny was inflicted little to no injuries during the match, exclude the few bruises on his jaw and a busted lip

"Actually, I'd rather we get some coffee instead." Johnny said, the small smile on his lips making you chuckle.

"I'm sorry, I don't date my patients." You smirked at Johnny's crestfallen expression, softly shoving his side to make it known that you were only joking.

Johnny pulled a face, releasing a breath he didn't realize he was holding once he realized your joke. He played along, "I think you can make me an exception, I don't usually invite people to my matches."

"So this is about getting even, huh?" You were teasing him and now your faces were merely inches apart but before Johnny could even think of leaning in, you spun around and grabbed his hand once more. "C'mon then, my treat!"

Johnny let out a laugh. A boxer and a doctor, who would've thought?

Choosing Fate: Chapter 6

A/N: wow did not expect people to read the long ass authors note in the previous chapter let alone get so many reviews about it, thank you to everyone for your kind words and reassurance!! It means a lot and im very glad people are enjoying this story so far!! I read a tweet describing writing as often lonely and it’s very comforting to have people along for the ride :)

Sakura quickly grew fond of Itachi and Izumi and made it a priority to visit them when she had a spare moment. At first, Sasuke let her go on her own if he was busy, but lately he had also been making it a point to accompany her. She just couldn’t figure that boy out, but she let him be. It was nice to have someone to walk with.

At first, she tiptoed around the subject of children and stuck with an exaggerated concern for their general health. She was the younger brother’s wife, what place did she have to speak of such things anyway?

But Izumi quickly soothed her nerves and made it clear that she valued Sakura’s opinion. She was open with her desire for children, as well as their struggle to conceive. Despite all this, Sakura still felt a little uncomfortable addressing the topic. She also thought the desire for children ran deeply through the Uchiha clan, like an indoctrination. Family seemed to be reduced to bloodline and it gave her chills.

She chose to speak in metaphors, using her background as a farmer’s daughter to carefully conceal the true weight of her words, “If you care for the soil, it will be generous in return. Fertility is…a fickle thing. You can’t force it. You must feed it properly, allow it to breathe. The earth is splendid, but the circumstances matter greatly. Patience is key, not everyone understands how long it takes to bear fruit. But all your hard work will make the reward so much sweeter.”

Izumi nodded slowly at this. “And you’ll help us with this?”

“It would be my pleasure,” Sakura beamed. Anything to feel like she knew her role in this strange clan, to feel needed, to feel useful.

She felt Sasuke’s gaze rest heavily on her while he sipped from his cup of tea.

Like any other morning, Sasuke was packing to go to the market when Sakura hesitantly approached him. “Ah, Sasuke?”

“Hm?”

“So..how about the market?”

“What about it?”

She wrung her hands, “Have you considered what I said before? Perhaps I could go to the market with you today? You know, to sell herbs. I’ve gathered quite a few bottles of dried stuff, I think it could fetch a fair price.”

Her husband grunted. He turned away from his bags to face her and pinch his nose, as if at war with his own thoughts. Was it so hard to tell her yes or no? she wondered.

Why did she challenge him so? he wondered.

He finally let out a sigh, “I suppose it wouldn’t hurt. Put your things in here, I can carry it for you.” He opened his bag wider and gestured towards it.

“It’s fine, I can do it myself.”

“They’re not heavy, just add it to my bag.”

“But your bag is full of big, heavy, sharp things that could break my things. I’ll carry my things, you carry yours,” she said with a distinct air of finality.

He shook his head at her satisfied expression; why was she always right?

Even if his father objected to Sakura coming along, she could surely argue (or charm) her way through.

Sasuke instantly regretted bringing Sakura with them. There was something in the air that day, something he didn’t like. He couldn’t help but swing his head around in paranoia as they walked through the rows to find a spot.

Sakura didn’t seem to pick up on it, more excited about being back there than anything else. She had never bought from the Uchihas herself even if her parents probably had, so she was interested to see them in action. She greeted some of the regular vendors, it had really been a while and it was nice to see that even if her life had changed drastically, some things were always the same. She even stopped to ask a familiar fisherman how his family was doing when Sasuke came up behind her and lightly placed his hand on her back, “Sakura.”

“Oh, Sasuke. What is it?” The warmth of his hand felt like it was going to burn a hole through her clothing as he applied more pressure to guide her forward.

“Stay close to me.”

His tone was often serious, but the concern laced in his voice easily convinced her to bid goodbye to the fisherman and continue walking with Sasuke.

“Is something wrong?”

He didn’t answer and only spoke again when they reached an open space to set up. “Here is good, right?” When Fugaku gave a nod of approval they started unpacking. Sakura noticed there were only a few pottery pieces in their selection that day, everything else was a weapon of some sort. Sakura shivered when some of the blades glinted in the sunlight; they really did look well-made — meaning they must be deadly.

Their first customer bought several things at once and the surprise must’ve been evident on their faces because he said gruffly, “Reports of bandits on the roads, crime and the like. Not taking any chances.” He nodded towards Sakura’s herbal offerings, “What’s this?” After hearing her explain some of their uses, he purchased a jar too. “Seriously, not taking any chances.”

What a strange interaction, Sakura thought as the man walked off. Sasuke caught her eye as if to say I told you so. If there really were bandits or something similar, then his intuition was correct. The atmosphere just didn’t seem right.

Several others seemed to have the same idea because more knives were bought up quickly. Just as Fugaku was about to comment on their luck that day, they heard shouting from the other side of the marketplace. It seemed like everyone in the area noticed at the same time, a swell of people looking up and quieting down.

“Don’t think you can get away with stealing!” a shrill voice, presumably a merchant, cried.

“Stealing? This shit belongs to me, everyone in Konoha is a thief. Look around, you can’t think you all just earned this? ” the other man taunted.

“Don’t you dare speak of Konoha like that! You need us far more than we would ever need you!” the merchant spat with distaste.

“Come over here and fight me if you’re so mad!” the man all but roared.

The sound of glass shattering, a scream.

Then all hell broke loose as multiple men started tussling with each other, almost at the same exact time.

Almost as if it was planned that way.

Their crude shouts and pained grunts could be heard all around as they kicked up dust in the melee. They were stationed far enough from the commotion that they weren’t in danger, but Sasuke’s heart felt like it was going to beat out of his chest. Looking back on it, Sasuke realized there were clearly a high number of outsiders at the market, as noted by the differences in their clothing. Konoha was no stranger to visitors, but these agitators clearly weren’t there for a vacation.

Before the fight was even broken up, people came around and purchased more of their wares. The largest knives went first. As their selection thinned out, Sasuke decided it would be best to return home. “We’re leaving,” he said tersely, causing Sakura to tear her eyes away from the violence. For once, she decided to listen to him. “Yes,” she said breathily, helping to pack up as well. Fugaku nodded silently, but he was also distracted, uneasy.

The word on the street was that someone who had left Konoha after living there for many years was the one arguing with a merchant. No matter the situation, Sasuke didn’t like the feeling in the air, the feeling gathering in the pit of his stomach, one bit.

“Maybe I can go by myself sometime in the future. I doubt something like that will happen again now that everyone has been alerted.” Sakura tried to pretend like everything was normal, if not to soothe her own nerves, then to soothe Sasuke’s.

“I told you before, it’s not safe.” He couldn’t count on “something like that” not happening again. If anything, it put him on high alert.

“If you’re so worried about me, why don’t you teach me how to fend people off?” She was growing weary of this same argument.

“I wouldn’t want to hurt you.”

“Sasuke.”

“There’s no reason why I can’t accompany you for your own safety.”

“I really can take care of myself, you know.”

“I have no doubts about that. This is for my own peace of mind.” He went a little red at the admission, but it was true. Wasn’t that the role of the husband? To protect the wife? If he failed at that, he would never be able to forgive himself.

But he knew how much she valued her freedom by the way she didn’t give up on this. “Fine, you go everywhere with me. Still, shouldn’t I know something? Maybe I should carry one of those knives we sell?” Being completely reliant on her husband and father-in-law didn’t sit well with her.

“We need to be realistic,” he said as a way of evading the real issue.

“And we can’t live in fear forever. Believe me, I don’t want to think about it, but what if you aren’t there? We should prepare for anything and everything.” Rather than fighting him on this, she spoke softly in an attempt to appeal to the heart that he was revealing to her day by day. He truly seemed worried for her safety.

He contemplated for a while, a troubled look flashing across his fine features. “Sakura…” he finally started slowly, “what about using what you already know?” She wanted to roll her eyes, “I don’t know anything because you haven’t taught me anything.”

“No, no, that’s not what I meant. If you can heal with all your herbs...wouldn’t you also be able to hurt someone just as easily?”

Fire danced in her eyes; it wasn’t pure Uchiha, it was distinctly Sakura, but it still burned bright.

A/N: Rather plotty sorry but I’m not planning to introduce a lot of the characters who make naruto such a complicated story LOL mostly just ideas and consequences of war and colonization. And even the characters already included will take a back seat as ss start falling in love :P Konoha is the true evil of naruto fr fr and it pisses me off that sss fam has to go through so much for that shit hole so here we are. There will be tension bc think of it as Konoha Sucks but a village like the hidden sound is the one attacking. Again I’m a lazy writer/researcher lmfao so I won’t be getting into the specifics of fertility and real health stuff so reader’s choice, imagine what you please, haha I am no expert

Alastair was dead. He had killed him, come morning he would be nothing more than ash. They were free, he’d never have to even think of this horrible place again. Why was he crying? Dahlia managed to pull him off of Alastair- off his body, that is, but he stayed on his knees next to him.

“Silas… it’s over, you’re okay…” She said softly.

“I- I know, I know, he’s dead, he’s finally dead… oh god he’s dead.” He choked back a sob, screwing his eyes shut. Dahlia hesitated for a moment, before standing up straight.

“I’m going to find Elise, tell her and the rest of the staff what happened… do you… need a moment…?” She asked softly. He simply nodded in response, listening to her footsteps retreating, the door closing softly behind her. He finally opened his eyes, looking back to the body in front of him. Why was he crying? He angrily wiped at his eyes, trying to make the tears go away, but they just wouldn’t stop.

He should’ve been relieved, he should’ve been celebrating, grinning from ear to ear and rushing out of there. Instead he sat at the vampire’s side, and he sobbed, bent forward so his head rested on his chest.

“You fucking b-bastard!” He cried, still clutching the blade in his hand. “You’re dead. You can’t hurt me anymore, you did nothing but hurt me, why the fuck am I crying over you?!” He felt sick, he couldn’t believe he felt so strongly about his death. “After all you did to me, after all you stole from me, you don’t deserve somebody crying over you, least of all me!” He sobbed loudly, unable to stop himself.

This man had tormented him, had ended his life as he knew it, and yet he felt a heart wrenching pain knowing he was dead.

Dahlia gave him his space, let him cry and yell and sob, and when his sobbing finally seemed to quiet down she told him it was time to leave.

He felt like he had cried out every other feeling along with his tears. He almost felt numb as they left the mansion, he couldn’t believe he was actually leaving. He should’ve been relieved, the cool night air should’ve been refreshing, but with each step he took away from the mansion, his sense of dread seemed to grow.

Reasonably, he knew the only choice was to leave. That had been the plan all along, get in, kill the vampire, get out. Yet, there was a voice in the back of his mind telling him he was wrong. He shouldn’t have left, he didn’t belong out here. He belonged in that mansion, with his master. He wasn’t allowed to leave, he would be punished, he deserved to be punished. Alastair would be so angry with him for leaving, he would be beaten, he wouldn’t be allowed in his bed that day, he would make him regret ever leaving- he was dead. He reminded himself, Alastair was dead, for good this time. He killed him, he didn’t have to fear him anymore, despite what the voice in his head kept telling him.

The walk home was almost a blur to him, trapped inside his head with his agonizing thoughts over the vampire’s death. Dahlia seemed to think he needed his space, she never pushed him, and he genuinely appreciated that. Before he knew it he was standing in front of his house, he was home.

He was almost surprised that the little cottage looked exactly how he remembered it. His memories all felt distant and far away, he had accepted he’d never return here and yet here he was, walking up the path to the front door. Dahlia led him inside, and he numbly followed her directions to go to their room and get some rest. It didn’t feel real to him, finally being home. As he made his way back to their room, as he pulled his shoes off and let his hair out of the braid he’d put it in when he got up that evening, he felt like all of this would disappear at any moment.

He collapsed on his bed, closing his eyes. He heard Dahlia come into the room and get ready for bed herself, but he was already half asleep. He could hardly remember the last time he felt safe in his own bed, no one to hug him or kiss him or bite him or touch him at all. For the first time since leaving that mansion he felt like maybe he was finally safe, as he drifted off to sleep.

He slept through the night and most of the next day, waking up late in the afternoon. He was almost surprised when he woke up to his own room, his own bed, his own house. He was sure it was all a wonderful dream, and he’d wake up back in that mansion in Alastair’s arms. Alastair was dead, he reminded himself. He laid there staring blankly at the ceiling, replaying the events of the previous night in his head.

He had killed him. He had stabbed him, over and over again. Silas was known to be a “one stab only” kind of hunter, he didn’t get any sadistic pleasure out of the job like some hunters did, his goal was to kill the vampire, not make them suffer. He’d never prolonged a death like that before, never dragged it out. It turned his stomach to think he could be so sadistic, no better than Alastair and his tendency to find joy in the pain he caused.

He thought about how Alastair had tried to beg him to spare his life. Alastair liked to be in control, he knew that much, he liked putting people beneath him. He had broken Silas down completely and yet he still begged for mercy at the end. That voice in the back of his head was telling him he was a monster for killing him anyway. He shouldn’t have felt bad though, when he begged Alastair to spare him he ended up damning him to a fate worse than death, Alastair was lucky that Silas killed him.

He had done this for Dahlia, he reminded himself. Alastair was going to kill her, there was no way around it, and if he killed Dahlia then he might as well have killed Silas too. He loved Dahlia with all his heart, he’d always known he’d do anything to protect her, and when he thought about it, he hadn’t done enough. She was still hurt, she was still held captive. Knowing her all of this was weighing on her greatly, but she was forcing herself to be strong for him. He knew he needed to tell her that she didn’t need to.

Killing Alastair was the right thing to do. He had mentally and physically beaten him into submission, stripped him of his angry and defiant personality. He had taken his sense of security, even curled up in his own bed in his own home he felt like any moment now the vampire would grab him, harm him in someway. He had destroyed everything about Silas and made him into his perfect pet and Silas would never forgive him for that. So why was he still crying? He buried his face in his pillow to muffle his crying, which soon escalated into full on sobbing.

He was faced with the same pain he felt the night before, an aching in his chest that just wouldn’t go away. Alastair was dead. There was nothing to fear, no reason to hurt, he should’ve been happy. How was he supposed to forget what he went through if he couldn’t even stop crying?

Eventually Dahlia came to check on him, and of course she immediately knew something was wrong. He knew she was there the moment she entered the room, and she came and sat down on the edge of the bed.

“Silas…? What’s wrong? Did you have a nightmare…?” She asked, gently placing a hand on his arm.

“N-no… I’m fine…” He murmured, voice muffled by the pillow. She sighed, pulling him onto his back so she could look at him. He glanced away from her, eyes red and burning from crying, his face streaked with tears, and she looked so concerned to see him that way.

“Here… sit up, please?” She asked softly, and he obediently did as she said. She held her arms open as she always did when offering a hug, and for once he immediately accepted, latching on to her and hugging her tightly. She seemed surprised, and he didn’t blame her given how often he refused hugs, but she hugged him back, running a hand through his tangled hair. He shuddered, remembering how Alastair would constantly do the same. “What’s wrong…?” She asked.

He wasn’t even sure if he should tell her. It sounded stupid to him, to cry over the vampire who ruined his life. Still, this was Dahlia, and he could tell her anything. He hoped he could anyway.

“I… I think I’m sad… over mas- Alastair.” He quickly corrected himself, though it only upset him more how ingrained in him the vampire’s training was. “I don’t… know why… I shouldn’t be sad, right…? I hate him, he… he was horrible but I just… can’t… stop crying.” He was getting choked up all over again, despite his best efforts. Dahlia was silent for some time, which just made him anxious. He knew it was stupid, he knew he shouldn’t have said anything.

“I think… you’re grieving…” She said slowly.

“Over him?!” He cried. “After everything he did to me, how could I possibly fucking grieve him?!”

“Silas… he made himself a big part of your life for some time… I mean honestly, I was scared that you had just become complacent with living like that… he made himself everything to you, when and where you slept, what you ate and if you could eat at all, how you dressed, what you did that day, he controlled all of it... you must’ve felt something towards him, not necessarily something good but… something strong…”

He knew she was right. Alastair had become his entire life, his entire world. Everything he did revolved around Alastair, he had been made to respect him. No, it wasn’t respect, it was fear. He feared him at every moment of every day, even now he feared what he would do to him, having to remind himself there was nothing he could do.

“I told him he couldn’t hurt me anymore, I made sure he knew that before he died. I shouldn’t mourn him, and I shouldn’t be having these awful fucking thoughts that I’m wrong for killing him!” He was getting more and more frustrated as he went on. “He took everything from me, he hurt me, so much, and yet here I am crying over him! He doesn’t deserve my tears, he doesn’t deserve my fucking grief!” He cried.

“He doesn’t deserve it, Silas, but that doesn’t mean you don’t feel it…” She sighed, hugging him tightly. “It’s okay that you’re upset, and you can’t just ignore it like you tend to do… if you need to cry over him then go ahead… you don’t have to sit here and do it alone though, Okay?”

He nodded, only because he knew his voice would crack if he tried to speak. He hated Alastair, more than he’d hated anyone before. He made his life a continuous living hell, he had made him into the one thing he hated most. Here he was though, sobbing, mourning the death of the man who ruined him.

ink: what do you do to “set the mood” when writing?

hmmm… well to usually set the mood would depend on the type of story I’m writing, if its horror/really angsty shit then I’m definitely going for dark themed music, if its something fluffy n cute- then im gonna go for some really happy upbeat music, so to set the mood- it’d usually depend on the genre

diary: how many pieces have you written that are just for you or will never see the light of day?

journal: do you ever write just so you can enjoy something to read?

Hmm I guess I’ve done it once or twice before, but I dont do it too often-

novella: do you prefer to write short stories, one-shots, or entire novels?

I don’t think I’ve even came CLOSE to an entire novel but, I do a lot of short-stories and ESPECIALLY one-shots, im not very good at chapter based stories or anything

pulitzer: tell about/link a piece where you felt your writing was the best.

Ooooh fuck this is a tough one, Im too lazy to link it but- in my Yan!Henrik story there were some parts I ABSOLUTELY loved and felt were p damn good and in the werewolf story I wrote as well, some good parts in there too, but I definitely feel more fond over some of the scenes in the Yan!Hen story than any other one

genre: what genre do you prefer to write in?

Honestly, I’m pretty open to genres, like- fantasy, science-fiction, etc- the whole shabang- im not too picky bout any of them-

narrator: what pov do you like writing in best?

hmmm I guess like- wouldnt it technically be in third person with the way I write, for the reader its always You and or they, I always keep a story gender-neutral so that way all readers can be who they want to be in the stories, it can give them a better chance to imagine themselves in said position, now if i got a specific thing to do, male, female, non-binary, etc- then yeah I’d do that

backstory: how did you come to love writing?

That’s a- actually kinda simple tbh- its not an interesting story- At first I was actually unsure about it, but then- the more I wrote, the more I got super into it- It was just… super fun to me after I did it for awhile

time-lapse: how long have you been writing (as a hobby or for work)?

It’s a hobby for now, but I do wish I could open commissions- but hmm its been like, maybe 5-6 years by now, maybe even a bit longer

characterization: describe your favorite character(s) you’ve written.

You should know this for sure haha, my favorite characters to write with tho- I’ll just say who they are, all the septic egos p much except… im still not too confident with writing Angus yet, some of the Iplier egos, like the Jims, Harold, and Eric, and I’m trying to branch out to other fandoms, I like writing with David n Daniel, from the cc fandom, and I’m trying to work on Dream Daddy characters too, Joseph, Robert, Mary, etc- and then my own characters too- I dont write wiht them often but I try

hmmm… I get inspired fairly easily so it’d be hard for me to name anything like that off the top of my head tbh

There’s a lotta things I think I could improve on, honestly… I think, its not a matter of insecurity really, more so like- no matter who you are, there’s always room for improvements, I think we all improve on things every day, writing, drawing, roleplaying, even simple things- after all, there’s nowhere to really go except forward in life, so I just tend to go with my own flow, and if I improve than I’m happy with that, if I dont? oh god I w i s h I was organized enough to fucking- have a writing playlist ashdjshfdsj, it just depends on my mood- sometimes I get distracted by songs tho-

…I wrote one, its a really old one and im not too proud of it, but, people like it apparently so I keep it up since it seems to make em happy and thats what matters in that regard, but nah im not BIG on writing things based off songs

Hmmm not yet, I don’t think I’m ready to physically publish my stories or anything, although my dad does encourage it, he tells me I should find a publisher or whatever and publish some stories (it wouldnt be ones with like- characters from things like camp camp, dream daddy, etc of course- it’d be ones with my own characters)

notepad: can you write anywhere or do you have to be in a specific place and mood to write?

D e f i n i t e l y a specific place and mood, my mood’s totally off and wrong right now and its frustrating bc im trying to write but the body and brain is like no motherfucker, be in pain and hate me more than you already do

I dont… know if ANY of my personal life has… influenced my writing? not that I know of anyways

…honestly? The one pet peeve I, myself, have with writing is the I/Me POV- now of course its fine if others use it, it could be easier to them, or they simply like it a lot, but I myself, just- cant fucking s t a n d that type of pov

input: what’s something you hate that people say to you about writing/your writing?

Okay- I need to be honest here, bc I get a lot of them, when I constantly state that I only do one shots and not chapter stories but the whole “pls continue” “another part to this please” “Do more of this” that doesnt really make me wanna do more, it makes me wanna move on actually from any of that, like im not about that plz continue, do more!!! type of comments

critic: what’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received about writing?

Oh god I’ve received TONS of good advice from people, especially when it comes to some of the German I use for Henrik, I will admit… I’ve been severely slacking with learning my German, and I…. I deeply regret it tbh, but- I never mind and am actually grateful when someone corrects me when using a word incorrectly in a sentence or whatever

I love all compliments tbh, I especially love comments on my angst like NO HOW DARE YOU OP, or OP wha t the f uck- my he a r t, or anything like that- …im a sadistic lil gremlin arent I? I love breakin hearts with angst, but like any compliments I receive on my stories are all greatly appreciated, I just most of the time I dont have the time to respond to them, BUT- I do read em, every last one of em-

I feel like there's been a few moments throughout this story where I would've left for a night/couple days. I'm the type of person that needs space, so whenever MC stays in that environment I feel like a step of the healing process has been skipped. But that's just me. I like to hide away and lick my wounds. And now, as hot as evil Joon is, he has utterly betrayed her (fragile, tentative) trust. And idek how Jimin & Yoongi will be. I would def be calling Sam up. I'd feel so used & embarrassed.

I think I’m quite guilty of putting a lot of myself into the reader in that respect - if ever I have an argument or get upset I desperately want to be around people and talk/cuddle it out until it’s all sorted! I think Sam will most definitely be helping to deal with some of the fallout.

The wind made the trees bend and bow, the lightning illuminating their path through the early night. Though their scout did not want to admit it they had most definitely taken the wrong path at the last crossing. The horses were uneasy, whinnying and neighing with every clap of thunder that seemed to shake the earth, and the soldiers were not much better off – something was wrong. Their eyes restlessly scanned the pitch black forest around them with their hands clasped around the reins or resting on the swords hanging from their hips, their instincts telling them to turn back; yet there was only one who noticed the movement in the shadows.

“Thor.”

The golden-haired man followed his brother's glance and peered between the trees, until he spotted movement as well. It was their task to guide their men to safety, yet the odds were not in their favour. There was no option but to fight.

“We're under attack!”

An arrow shot past and hit one of the guards in the shoulder, the toxins immediately finding their way into his systems. The howling wind stifled the cries of men who met a similar fate as their friends slashed at the invisible enemy and tried not to get thrown off their stallions; but it was of no use – they were losing.

Suddenly a bright light washed over them, the source not lightning but magic; which was enough to blind the attackers and to return the advantage to the soldiers - who made good use of it. Swords slashed through enemy flesh and dyed the road a deep crimson red, lifeless bodies falling to the ground only to be trampled underneath rearing horses, and the soldiers regained their hope.

Until it went dark again.

“Loki, are you all right?” Thor's loud voice boomed through the darkness, but no answer came. “Loki!”

The light returned - weaker this time - and his eyes quickly found his brother still atop his horse, yet gravely injured. Still his face showed no signs of pain and his voice did not quiver once as he roared the words over the sound of the pouring rain.

“We cannot win this fight!” He lifted his hand, slender fingers aimed at the white-flashing sky. “Head east!”

A wall of green fire erupted from the ground which startled the attackers, and which gave the soldiers the chance to make their escape.

It had been quiet today, partly due to the storm; and you used the spare time to clean the place up a bit. Books on herbs and weeds were put back on the correct shelves, the two oaken tables were scrubbed until they were devoid of any dust or dirt, the dark wooden floorboards were swept spotless, and empty bottles were cleaned and put away in the right places so that they were ready to use the next time you needed them. You took a moment to rest, leaning down on the counter and appreciating the shop. You had been running it for a couple of years now and, to your delight, the popularity had grown exponentially since the owners had allowed you to take over – many even recognised you on the streets, whether they visited regularly or not. You took their compliments and stories of complication-less healing to heart, and you were always glad to hear how they liked the new look of the building.

After the renovations it was now possible for customers to take a seat on one of the benches placed against the wall, accompanied by the two knee-high tables that were adorned with one potted plant each, and you had been able to increase the space for storage by building cabinets and drawers into the counter. In addition there were the bookcases that lined the wall behind you, where you had neatly arranged the books according to their contents and filled other shelves with jars that contained plants, berries, herbs or spices – all with different properties that you knew by heart. Underneath the shelves were drawers of different sizes that could be locked, and which contained medicinal pills, salves, potions, or powders that were ready to use. You grew some herbs in the sills of the arched windows and on every other unoccupied surface, the flowers and healthy greens bringing colour and liveliness to the room and filling the air with a gentle aroma. The stairs in the back twisted to the second floor, where three bedrooms were situated, and in the wall underneath it was a door that led to the dormitory; which was filled with beds for those who needed to be tended to for a longer period of time and stools for those who came to visit them. The entrance to the kitchen had been moved, simply by turning the old one into a wall and creating a new door in between two of the bookcases behind the counter, as there had been incidents where visitors had tried to cook something for their bed-bound family members and had nearly set the place on fire.

Sadly, not all villagers of Blacktree had been blessed with intelligence.

You liked living here, though. The surrounding mountains offered safety from ongoing wars or conquering parties, and the bears and wolves in the area scared off any groups of bandits or raiders. The woods were rich in ingredients for your medicinal practices and cooking experiments, the lake nearby supplied the village with fish, and there were enough herds of deer to feed an entire country if one were to hunt them all. The people here, though not the smartest, were kind at heart, always ready to help each other out and to support each other when the winter had been harsh again or when the crops had withered.

While the rain kept streaming down the windows you checked up on what you had in stock and made a list. The aroma of ink, old books, plants, and parchment scented the room and soothed your being as you filled a nearly empty jar with some fresh mirrinos leaves, until a loud clap of thunder surprised you and made your fingers falter for a moment, allowing the bottle to slip from your grasp and to smash into pieces. This weather wasn't unusual during this time of year. The water poured down mercilessly from the heavens and the flashes of light illuminated the sky for only a fraction of a second, before letting the world fall into darkness again and leaving only a moment of sound to acknowledge it had ever happened. It had its own charm, in a way, and you knew it couldn't do harm, yet the loudest bangs still made you jump sometimes.

After cleaning up the shards you were ready to throw yourself onto your next task of preparing some powders and potions that were sold nearly every day, when suddenly the door swung open and a flurry of men stormed in.

“We were attacked-”

But you paid no attention to the man clad in red and gold. Your eyes immediately found the man in green and black instead, who was being supported on both sides, and judging from his wounds you knew you had to act fast.

“Lay him on the table. You,” you made eye contact with one of the men clothed like a soldier, “get me that bottle of alcohol on the shelf in the back, second from the top. You, help him out of his armour, I need his wounds to be fully exposed.” You grabbed a clean rag from one of the nearest cabinets, in the meanwhile addressing the redgolden man. “You're in charge, right? Post two of your least injured men outside this door and two more on the opposite side of the street, a few houses apart from each other and hidden but not out of sight. Fasten the horses to the poles outside and close the door afterwards, but do not barricade it.”

He nodded firmly and turned to his men. “Do as she says!”

You turned back to the man laying on your table and for only a fraction of a second regretted putting him there, as the blood running down his sides would inevitably stain the beautiful wood. However the thought left as quickly as it had come when you took the bottle of alcohol from one of the men and knelt down to get to work. After wiping away the blood with the rag you lay your hand on the flesh next to the deepest wound, noticing how unusually cold it was, and poured the liquid into the cut to disinfect it – all while you kept yelling commandos.

“Someone get me the third jar on the top left shelf behind the counter, now. You, hold down his shoulders. I'm trying not to hurt him but I cannot control everything, and I do not want to have him making it worse by moving.”

You quickly traded the rag and alcohol for the jar, commanding the soldier to keep it close, and popped open the lid. You gave it a whiff just to make sure it was the right stuff; then, while holding the edges of the wound apart with the thumb and fingers of one hand, gently put it in with the other. The ointment would protect from infections, fasten the healing process, and block the blood flow as well – therefore greatly decreasing the risk of bleeding to death if the wound opened up again. It did not keep the wound completely closed however, and without stitches it was likely to leave a massive scar.

“Get me the black pouch from the shallowest drawer underneath the counter.”

Within seconds the small pouch was offered to you and you traded it for the salve, once again demanding it to be within reach, before quickly pulling the chords loose and taking out the set of needles and threads. You carefully but swiftly sewed the sides together, finishing with a tiny knot and a snip of the small scissors, and quickly repeated the whole process with the other two wounds as well. Once that was done you took out a large roll of linen bandaging and, with some help from the two closest men, wrapped it around blackgreen's midsection.

Finally, the situation was under control.

The last step was to stand up and glance at your work, but to do so you needed to take your hand off of his abdomen – and the moment you did he let out a loud hiss in pain. You hoped it wouldn't give you away but luckily the others seemed to think nothing of it, and you let out the breath you didn't know you had been holding.

“I take it he will be all right?” Redgold met your gaze, the worry apparent in his eyes, but it quickly diminished when you sent him a warm and reassuring smile.

“He will be fine, granted he rests properly.” You glanced around, noticing how most men had scrapes and bruises, before returning your gaze to his again. “Were you not hurt?”

“Only a couple of superficial cuts.”

“Those can get infected as well. Show me, please.”

He rolled up his sleeves, and without ado you disinfected and bandaged his injuries. “I will take care of the others. Please take a seat and rest, you and your men are welcome to stay the night. We have plenty of beds and enough food for you to be comfortable here.”

He nodded and sat himself down on the bench beside the table Blackgreen was laying on. While tending to the soldiers you cast a glance his way every now and then, but his empty stare didn't change. His eyes were focused beyond this realm.

All injuries had been treated and you were just putting everything back where it belonged when the two owners of the shop came halfway down the stairs, their faces contorted in confusion and shock.

“What in the name of Yggdrasil is going on?”

Medhea let her eyes move over the man-filled room. She was a sturdy woman, visibly growing older, but her eyes stood bright and lively still and her voice could carry for miles if she wanted it to. She always tried to keep her reputation of being austere high, now being no exception with her trademark glare that, if looks could kill, would have taken many lives; but those who knew her well enough knew she was one of the most motherly and warm women Blacktree had to offer. Not that she wasn't strong – quite the opposite. She could stop a brawl with one of those deadly glares, or beat a man to pulp with her bare hands if she needed to. She had taught you how to defend yourself and how to fight back, and she was not to be messed with.

Next to her stood her husband, Illasias, who was of the softer kind. He knew the landscape like the back of his hand and had taught you everything there was to know; about the soils and the rocks, the trees and the plants, the animals – everything. He was very respected amongst the people, mainly for his knowledge but also for his wisdom, and he wore time well; his curly hair retaining the chestnut brown it had always had and his skin staying the healthy tan the sun had granted him, and he had not weakened in body nor mind. Where Medhea was like a mother to you, he was like a father, and you loved them both dearly.

Sometimes, however, Illasias seemed to forget about the very wisdom he was so often praised for.

“Where were you attacked? It must have been quite the ride away; the dragon wouldn't have let enemy soldiers on these premises.”

Your eyes widened a bit. “Illasias, we don't know who these men are.”

But it was too late, as everyone was now looking at him with questions swirling in their eyes. It was Redgold who spoke first.

“A dragon?”

“It's an expression, a nickname. A group of men devoted themselves to protecting the town a few years ago, and their name is supposed to frighten off any ill-willing strangers from coming here.” You gave Illasias a warning glance, but were careful not to show Redgold or any of his soldiers. To them you smiled apologetically, and adeptly changed the subject. “Though now the matter has risen, I do need to ask you where you are from, and what you did to become a target.”

“Ah yes, you must forgive me for not introducing myself. I am Thor, son of Odin, and the man on your table is my brother, Loki.” He smiled at you, seemingly waiting for some kind of predicted response, but when you just introduced yourself, Medhea, Illasias, and said nothing more, confusion crept into his eyes. “You do not know of us?”

“I'm afraid not, my apologies. Our village does not have much contact with other towns or cities, apart from the occasional trade.”

A groan coming from Blackgreen – whose name apparently was Loki – diverted everyone's attention to him. You noticed how he was trying to push himself into a sitting position, so you quickly made your way over to him and gently, but firmly, pushed him down again. “That table must not be comfortable, yet I must ask of you not to move.” You made eye contact with two men and nodded them over. “Could you please assist me in moving him to the dormitory?”

After carefully lifting the man and carrying him to the nearest bed in the adjoining chamber you thanked the two who helped you and walked back to the doorway, from which you addressed the whole room. “There are plenty of beds, so feel free to rest if you wish.” And as you stepped aside to let the men through, you addressed Medhea and Illasias. “I will handle everything here, don't worry.” The look in your eyes told them that you were going to win information and let them know what you had found out later, the only thing you asked of them was to be patient and to trust you. And, without a second doubt, they nodded, and disappeared up the stairs again.

Next, you walked up to Thor. “I need to know whether the ones who ambushed you would follow you here, and if they might attempt another attack.”

He thought for a moment. “I do not believe they would dare to enter the village, but they could lay in wait deeper into the woods.”

You hummed in acknowledgment, and spoke as you were thinking. “It might be best if two of your men kept watch, maybe let the least injured take shifts. I still need to take a look at the four who you've positioned outside... I would advise against continuing on your way tomorrow, seeing as your brother needs more time to heal.” You smiled and gave curt nod – more aimed towards yourself than him. “Now rest, I will prepare something to eat.”

He answered your smile with a large one of his own. “Thank you for your kindness and hospitality; your quick thinking has saved Loki's life, and you will be compensated greatly for it. I cannot thank you enough.”

A compensation? You pushed it away. Though the shop could certainly use the money, it wasn't needed to keep on living as you did - if anything, the more money there was around here the more attractive it would become to raiders. Thor seemed rather wealthy, if his and his brother's apparel was anything to go by; which probably meant he had quite some power as well – and an alliance with someone powerful might be more useful than currency in the long run.

“A compensation is not necessary. The only payment I need is a favour, should I ever need your help.”

He looked surprised, then chuckled. “Quite all right.” And, after calling his men inside and sending out two others, he too disappeared into the dormitory.

i know our relationahip was toxic... but being with you has been an amazing experience. it's an experience that i still want to keep with and i know it's hard for the both of us but i really want to make it work. ive always held on and made sure that i didnt lose you but now that i have, i really regret it. in saying this though, im only asking but also hoping, if you were to ever want to start again - im always here. it's been 3 weeks since we broke up and honestly, it's been a grueling 3 weeks. it's been a week since we stopped talking and the whole experience has just been so difficult to move on from. my days feels so slow and i always just wake up being reminded that i have no one to really talk to. friends are not just the same. losing a s/o wasnt the only thing i lost. i lost a best friend. i lost my only partner in crime, my number one supporter and... you were my everything.

It's a month now and two months since the incident. I still greatly regret what I have done. I also hate myself for it. You're now going to therapy because of it and idk when you will ever forgive me but I don't think I will ever forgive myself, and this feeling will never reside. I'm so sorry for what I have done to you. I should of said something. I should of just asked. All I needed to do was ask you. I hope that the therapy will help you get back on track and whether or not you forgive me, I don't really mind. Because I know that what you're feeling right now and then is more painful and hurtful than mine. So I deserve this. I derserve whatever punishment I will take or that will come at me.

I'm still getting over you. I'm still waking up every day feeling sad and empty. I can't famine the lost of someone that was so important to me. Everything I do reminds me of you. No matter what I do I can't forget you. I don't understand why I am not able to let go of you. I can't seem to distract myself enough to realise that I am just hurting myself. Why am I like this?

I'm slowly healing but I'm also still in love with you. I still have the smallest hope in ever being with you again. I hope that everyone is doing well and is okay. I miss the little one. I miss the loving mother. I miss the great father. I miss the realest sister. I miss them all so much and most of all, I miss you. It still feels extremely lonely. I try my best to cheer myself up and make an attempt to go out and socialise with other people, but it's just not the same when I get home - or when I am driving home by myself. The feeling of no one next time me. The presence of someone just by my side. Someone who loved me... It still hurts that you are gone and it hurts more that I don't know what you are doing now and that you have completely shut yourself away from me. I guess I can understand because you probably can't stand seeing me or you can't resist reaching out to me. I get it.. You just want to move on... I'm always here for you, you know that right?... and I'm always here... if you want to start again

It's almost our 2 year anniversary.. I know it probably doesn't mean anything anymore since we're not together but, the thought of it still hurts. I don't know if I have moved on from you. I look back now to all the arguments that we had and the amount of patience I had for you. It was hard for me to accept it. I had someone asked me why I loved you, or what was it that I missed about you. For reason I had trouble for a bit to think of something that I genuinely missed. I appreciated you for the amount of effort you gave to me even though I knew it was something that was out of your comfort zone. I appreciated the manners and life skills that you had taught me to be better in believing in myself and being more self-caring. You truly made me into a even better person than I was already. But alas, I realised as well that during our lowest moments there were times where it felt like I was a pushover. The things that you said to me were painfully harsh and I was loving blindly and was always in denial of the flaws in the relationship. I wish we communicated more in person. I wish that you were able to just speak to me openly about what was wrong. I don't regret this relationship at all, I'm angry but more sad that I really lost my best friend. I understand that it's generic to be doing everything with your significant other but the seconds, minutes, hours, days, months and years... spent with you was amazing and I would never want to throw that experience away. This has been a lesson to me to take home and to continue developing into a even better person. I'm still sorry for what I have done but I also hope that you can forgive me. If we had spoken about it in person and tried to solve it... we could had still been together. But I guess what is meant to be was meant to be. I love you, and I hope that you are well. Hopefully someday the both of us can find true happiness if not in each other then in somebody else or with ourselves.

It really hurts seeing you be friendly with other guys. I know, you're not my gf anymore but my heart still aches. No matter how hard I try to look away, I always end up finding you in my way. Amongst the crowd of people, you still continue to stick out. I was angry and frustrated at the things you did and what I saw. Were you intentionally making me jealous or something?! I know the scale is different to what I did and what I saw but to cling onto a complete stranger? Tell me that I wouldn't be hurt by that.

When I received that text from you that day. My heart froze. I was filled with so many emotions. Shocked, thrilled, anxious, terrified.. Your apologies didn't feel like apologies. Even when you apologised you still backed yourself up and told me other reasons why you hated me and why you happened to be like this. I get it. I know I have done wrong. You make me feel worse than I already am and I am honestly trying my best to even forgive myself. It may seem to you that I am trying to move on by talking to other girls but do you really have to tell or remind me that you don't want your position to be taken away from you? And seriously, adding in that it was a 'failed relationship'? I'm sorry that I poured my heart out for you and withstood all the hardship. Like for it to occur and be acknowledged now, yet still backing yourself up does not make me feel any better. Frankly it seems like this whole 'apology' you call, is for your own closure and benefit. You didn't even ask how I was. You didn't question how my family was. You didn't show any sign of care in the world for me. You only gave me the empathy after I told you how I had felt. If you did emphasised with me then why did it have to be prompted before it was given? I've been confused, hurt and frustrated with my emotions for you. I really did hurt you, but you hurt me just the same amount. Or even more. You told me you loved me, but why did it feel like I had to plead for that love..

After reading that text, I broke and was full of self hatred. That night, the promise was broken. I guess it's not your concern since you aren't with me, but thinking back - the comment you made about not wanting to be with me because I was mentally unstable was correct. What really hurts was that you loved and cared about me, but you still with no remorse was indefinite about breaking up with me. I think back on those moments in time where I had reached my limit and you had experienced me literally on my knees on the floor breaking - only then you came to forgive me.

You do know that I'm not really happy right? Even if you see that external image that I put in front of everyone, deep down I'm still sad. I'm still unable to decide between whether I should be a bigger person and accept that things are what they are and move on - or that I should ignore and avoid you because I really can't be in the same room as you. Don't get me wrong, I am more than capable enough to be in the same room but I'll probably be extremely anxious, confused mentally and sad afterwards. I'm sorry that I am like this, I don't even know if I should be apologizing but I guess for some people it's easy to just move on and forget everything. Not saying that it is easy but people make it seem easy and because of what I went through only makes sense that I should move on - but I can't. I can't move on because.. I miss it. I miss us. I really, really missed what we had. It was truly something special that we had. Something that made us unique to other couples. A story to tell every other person of how we met and how long we had known each other. Our story is basically a fairy tale and it was amazing to have. I just can't believe that that fairy tale is no longer a thing and it feels like we're just strangers now. I'm star struck by the journey that the both of us took from being close friends and having same interest and love for music, to becoming couples, and now total strangers who hate each other... I wish, you knew. How I truly feel. About my feelings during post-breakup. I wish you also knew how much I really tried. Not saying that you didn't but, I was head over heels for you. I know that I had my moments and I wish I had been better but it hurts to revisit those memories only to see that you were not too empathetic for me and always I would apologise for feeling the way I felt.

I swear I tried everything in my power and my mindset to make things better. I always thought we had enough trust in each other. But I guess not...

Wow. Um, I don't know what made me do it but I messaged you and yeah, complimented and you replied. I was a little surprised that you did. You didn't bother to continue the conversation. Fair enough. I really should stop trying so hard to hold on... I really wanted you to ask me how I was going.. so that I could tell you what I had been going through, but I made the mistake of making myself sound like I was okay with everything. Then again, I'm not really sure what you have been going through so I shouldn't be so sure and judge. It hurts though. Um, I guess I am slowly getting better. I mean writing it out now means that I'm not completely over it but yeah.. I'm still feeling strange about it. It's still uncomfortable to try to be happy or to feel like I should be treating myself.

rant, dont need to read just need to let it out.

Sometimes I hate being a transgender man because theres always going to be someone who says stuff like "you're not a real man" etc. i hate that. I hate me. I hate me. I hate me. I hate people who make me hate me for being me. I did not ask to be brought into this world in the wrong body it just happened. If i could go back in time and somehow tell my dad to pull out I would. I wish i was never born. I've tried to kill myself multiple times before because of this but the only reason why I'm still alive is because im scared of what come after death. If i wasnt then I would have been gone 4 years ago or the last time I tried in October. I hate people who miss gender me on purpose. I get that I just came out 8 months ago but i would greatly appreciate that you try and use the correct pronouns and my name change. My daughter broke her arm. She is insured with my husband's insurance. The insurance company agreed to pay for the hospital and doctor bills but the doctor's office never submitted the bill to our insurance company. I need an opinion on what should i do in this case. 3 weeks ago , as I was driving home , on the freeway , from the truck in front of me fell big peace of ice and hit my car from underneath. Less than 1 minute later i noticed blue smoke behind , luckily there was and exit with gas station right there. By the time i pulled up to the gas station car was barely moving. After staying parked for 20 min , it leaked oil and tranny fluid . I called towing , had them pick the car up , called progressive made the claim. All of that happened in WI near Milwaukee , before i used to leave in Chicago , so I never dealt with progressive from WI. After couple days adjuster came out and gave shop 1100$ to start the repairs , shop diagnosed everything and came to a conclusion that its the transmission leaking because of the damage inside. Adjuster was extremely slow to give shop any kind of approvals to do anything , So after 3 weeks they finally allowed them to take transmission apart , another adjuster came out took pictures , then shop owner want around , called me and said that he will call me next day. Next day shop owner calls me asking if I heard anything from progressive ? I call that guy back , but he went on vacation. Call my first adjuster , she says that the guy who went on vacation concluded that it wasn't related to impact , so they wont pay for anything and I owe 500 for taking down transmission. I called shop owner right away asking if its possible , not being related to impact , he says of course not , otherwise your car wouldn't break after impact. He also said some technical explanation what caused it to break , i just don't know what. he also said that no one ever called him and asked him what was the cause if that. I dealt with progressive in Chicago twice , when i lived there , and i had greatest experience ever , but it seems that in Milwaukee , they are playing games , making me pay , and not taking responsibilities. (Stupid, I know, I wasn't thinking). My insurance company, GEICO is insisting that the damage is not consistent with a hit and run accident. They have taken recorded statements from me and my boyfriend. They have contracted an independent accident reconstructionist to read the airbag deployment. The reconstructionist originally told me that he was unable to retrieve the data, but the insurance company is now telling me that he was able to get a partial reading. And that it shows that the airbag deployed as a result of impact. The airbag did not actually fully deploy. There is no powder or injury to me to justify a complete deployment. We were in the house together all night. Getting out of a speeding ticket for insurance purposes?

Is there a way I can get out of a speeding/failure to meet at a stop sign ticket? I really don't care about paying the ticket or court costs at all, but I just can not, really, really, can not pay the extra insurance money. I am paying out of state tuition AND I am in Architecture. Architecture is SUCH an expensive major. The police officer (whose name I can't even read on the ticket because it is just a scribble) gave me a ticket for speeding and failure to stop at a stop sign. I have always been a great driver, I never speed, I always stop at stop signs, I don't drink/text/talk over the phone and drive, I always have my seatbelt on. This one time I absolutely needed to get home at 2am I decide to go a little faster and yup, of course I get a ticket. I don't want to lie, I was doing 36 on a 20 zone at the time, I admit it even though I honestly did not realize I was going at 36 I didn't' do it on purpose. I didn't think hey I'm just gonna go faster because no one is around , I really honestly did not notice I was going at 36. But I am not sure about the stop sign thing. Honestly I was not paying much attention because I drive through this stop sign everyday but I distinctly remember there was a car already at the stop sign coming from the left so I HAD to stop. There was absolutely no one else coming from any of the four sides, so I might have not stopped completely but I did slow down almost to a stop and then kept going. Then like I said I was going at 36 on a 20 zone. This was at 2 a clock in the morning when there was literally not a soul around. The police officer was practically hiding in a dark, empty parking lot and came out of no where. I really don't want to make excuses for myself. I know what I did was wrong and I'll admit it. But this is my first ticket, and I really don't want t have to pay so much more money on my insurance for a slip as small as this one. My boyfriend was with mi in the car if that means anything. I really don't know, I've never had a ticket before. I've been reading up on how to get out of a ticket, and a lot of people say it is good to talk to the officer, and I thought about doing it but the officer's name is not readable at all. He also completely misspelled my name. In Puerto Rico we use both my father's and mother's last names so I have two last names. Let's say my name is X, my father's last name is Y and my mother's is Z. In Puerto Rico it goes like X Y Z and since my license is from Puerto Rico that is how it is written in my license. But the police officer wrote X Z. So my name is wrong in the ticket. I don't know if that counts for anything, someone told me that if they misspell my name or the officer's it means the ticket is dropped. This seems unlikely but hey, like I said I really have no clue. Again, I don't want to make excuses for myself, but I just can't afford extra insurance costs. I just cant...""

Hi, I'm 16 years old and I currently have a 2002 Gmc Envoy, and I love the qualities of the car, but the brakes are horrible and it's crash test rating is really low. I've had people pull out in front of me on more than 2 occasions and my brakes take so long for the car to stop so im really nervous when driving it. I want to trade it in and get a 2000-2005 ford expedition because its on the same platform as my dads f-150 and when I drive his truck the brakes are so much better and I have better visibilty, the expedition is also better in crashes. I know the gas is more but it only gets 2 miles less than my envoy and I only use if to drive to school and footballs games. If i were to switch cars how much would my monthly incurance be?
