yay
actually did art today lol. since implaying with this new shadin style thought id show some wips and try to explain how it works???
Tumblr media
ok first of all i have to put my sketch in here because i actually like it a lot lmao. more than the finished pieces but sjksfjksfgjksfb its fine. just wanted to show it off lmao.
Tumblr media
oh boy heres one of my wip photos!! how i do the shading is i clip the layer so it can only fill in what ive already colored and color it all a bright color to help me see what tf im doing. i get one of these weird soft/round opaque brushes and fuck opacity its low as hell. then i just erase where i wouldnt want my shadows to fall. because that layer is effectively my shadow la2yer. its kinda fun to do it this way for me at least.
Tumblr media
ok and finished piece!! i used the shading layer but i also did a highlights layer that i do pretty lazily not liek the other thing at all i just grab the same brus i was using and highlight whatever tf i want. also i colored the lineart slightly, its very subtle but its brighter where the highlights fall. idk its very very subtle on this piece usually u can tell more rip.

Working with Jeff and Mutt could really be challenging at times, especially when they couldn't be bothered to use your help. You hadn't really done much other than help them get their prints down for their robots, then you were demoted to coffee monkey for a few days at a time until one of the men would ask you to interact with one of their robots or help with small useless tasks. Mostly your job consisted of the marketing of their products and the output and delivery of robots they sold.
After Mutt threw a tantrum at you about his coffee order not being right, you finally gave up and walked to your desk that sat in the small room between the lab and Ms. Venable's desk. Pretty much anyone who walked into the lab had to go through your office. Yes it was pretty annoying at times but it was nice sometimes too because that means Jeff had to walk through your office whenever he wanted to go out for any reason. One day particular Ms. Venable let this man into the lab, walking through your office and giving you a kind smile as he walked into the lab.
As he walked past you could feel chills go up your spine and he closed the glass door separating your office and the lab. You stared at him for a moment as he walked up and the men greeted him. You looked at Venable and stood from your desk, walking over to her desk. "Who is that?" You asked and gestured to the glass doors as you sat on the side of her desk. She glared at where you sat but said nothing. "His name is Michael. He's a very powerful man." She said and waved the back of her hand at you. "Now if you'll excuse me I actually have work to get done." She excused you off her desk and you huffed, walking back to your office and clicking around on the website.
You tried to keep your eyes to yourself but you couldn't help but look over at the coconut heads as they talked to this mystery man. More specifically you looked at Jeff. You couldn't tell what it was about him but he seemed so cute and fuckable. You knew you had barely any chance because he could literally make a robot of his ideal woman and have her do whatever he'd like, why would he choose to sleep with someone like you when he could build the perfect woman for himself.
After a few minutes, you were fucking around on your phone before the shades to the lab dropped quickly and then only about a minute later the door to your office opened and Michael walked out with a smile on his face. He looked at you for a moment, stopping in the doorway. You had Jeff's Instagram pulled up on your phone, shamelessly looking at a picture the two of you had taken at some big event for a news website. Michael closed the lab door behind him and looked at your phone where it sat on your desk.
"Do you like him?" He asked and looked down his nose at the phone. You felt the chills run down your spine again. "Yeah... and I just want him to like me back- even better I wish I had the courage to make him like me back." You suddenly found yourself kinda spilling everything to this man without considering it beforehand. "I can help you with that... My father is in a pretty powerful position. We could make a deal and I can get you what you want." He said and walked to where he could place his hands against your desk and lean over it. You swallowed the spit in your mouth and stared at him. You couldn't really say anything but you did nod. Michael grinned and offered his hand to you. "Sell your soul to Satan, like they did, and you can have him wrapped around your pinky plus the courage you need to get him." Michael said and you paused before taking his hand.
He leaned forward and kissed the back of your hand before walking out of the room. You paused for a second and looked down to your desk. You didn't feel any different at first, but then you heard your door to the lab opening. Mutt walked out through the door and nodded at you, saying he was running out to pick up lunch for them, leaving the door wide open behind him. You nodded and spun in your chair for a few moments after Mutt left your office.
That's when you heard Jeff call for you from the lab, so you walked over, already feeling yourself stand a bit taller. "Hey y/n can you help me with this coding? I can't find why I'm getting errors." He said and you walked around his desk looking at his laptop over his shoulder. You glanced over the code realizing really quickly that Jeff didn't fill in parts of the code, just leaving them blank. "You literally didn't fill out the whole code." You said and pointed at the computer screen before looking at Jeff. He was obviously staring at your chest. You smirked a little and played into it. Pushing your hands against the edge of his desk and pushing your breasts together as you leaned forwards to "look at the code".
You pointed to the screen and Jeff didn't look back to the screen from your chest. You stood up and he looked quickly up to your face. "Oh baby if you wanna stare that hard you might as well take a picture." You said and leaned back to sit on his desk. He stammered for a second before spitting out a simple "can you just help me with this?" You shrugged and looked at the computer and he continued to glance between your chest and the screen. After instructing him what to type in, his hands shook as he typed. Eventually you reached forwards and took his hands off his keyboard.
"Jeff, do you want me to help you?" You asked and he nodded a bit. Gently pushing his shoulder back, you moved onto his lap gently, sitting and facing his computer. You typed into the code silently, yet you could feel him adjust against your ass, his very prominent boner pressing against you. You just smiled to yourself as he stammered quietly behind you.
“C-can you help me with something else…” he asked softly, now pushing his blushing face against your shoulder from behind.
“Where do you need my help baby?” You asked, a smirk finding its way across your lips as he pushed against you with his dick. You took that as a sign and stood up, turning around in his lap to straddle him in his desk chair. “You want mommy to take care of your little problem?” You ask, your hand roaming down to gently rub him through his jeans. He nodded and moaned quietly against your shoulder.
Moving yourself up a bit, you unzipped his jeans and moved them down a bit so you could properly rub him through his boxers. God whatever Michael was, he definitely worked a bit of magic to get you to this place. Jeff whimpered under you as you rubbed him through his boxers. “Please…” he whimpered as you moved off of him and back to kneel on the ground between his knees.
As you kneeled down, Jeff hurriedly pushed his jeans down along with his boxers. “Slow down baby, don’t you wanna enjoy this?” You asked in a quiet voice and wrapped your hand around his length. It was harder than you would’ve thought for having just barely riled him up. As soon as you made contact with him his dick jumped and he whined. With that reaction you gripped him a bit harder and began to stroke him slowly, leaning in to lick the precum off his tip and giving small suckles to the tip as his hips bucked against your movements.
As your actions continued, you heard Jeff’s cell phone buzzing against his desk, you two paused to look at it. It was Mutt calling him. “Go on and answer it baby. I’m sure it’s really important.” You whispered and his shaky hand swiped the answer button and put it on speaker.
“Hey bro. They don’t have the sandwich that you usually get. What do you want instead?” Mutt’s voice sounded from the phone. You looked up to Jeff, now fully taking his length in your mouth and sucking on it roughly. He bit back a moan and there his head back against his office chair.
“Dude, h-honestly just get me whatever you got… whatever you got last time. I-It looked good.” He responded and let out a breath as you began to bob your head against him. Mutt paused for a second on the line.
“You said that it smelled like shit and that you hated it. What about that chicken one that you had a few days ago? I can make a stop on the way back if you’d prefer that. I know Y/n likes the soup from that place. Do you know if she brought lunch in today for herself?” Mutt asked and Jeff’s eyes lulled back in his head; both rolling his eyes at Mutt’s questioning but also at you lazily jerking him off as you sucked on his tip.
“Uh, it doesn’t look like it… I’d make the stop and get it just in case.” Jeff responded and as he spoke you doubled down and sucked a bit harder.
“She’s been doing pretty good lately. Can you remind me when I get back that I wanted her to put a new listing on the site? That fleshlight that you designed to look like her will be a top seller bro. And I bet you she’ll be none the wiser that it’s inspired by her.” Man if Jeff’s face wasn’t already beet red by this whole situation it was now.
“Y-yeah dude. I’ll remind you later. I’ll see you when you get back to the shop.” He spit out a quick goodbye and then hung up the phone. You pulled off of Jeff and looked at his face, which now refused to look back at yours. you hummed and stood up from where you knelt. Jeff looked at you quickly, scared you were upset by what Mutt had said over the phone. Instead you leaned against Jeff’s desk, slowly pulling yourself to sit on it. “A-are you mad?” He asked softly, looking up at you embarrassed.
“No, baby. But next time if you want to fuck me so badly…” you said as you undid your jeans in front of him. “Just ask. You don’t need a fleshlight when you can have the real thing.” You said and pushed down your jeans and panties infront of him. Leaning back on the desk, you stared him down. Your own hand came to grab his shaking one, placing it gently against your cunt. “Now how about you go ahead and give mommy a taste.” You said and he was on you in seconds.
You didn’t want to lose your dominance, but the second Jeff’s lips were basically devouring you, you couldn’t help but let out an almost pornographic moan. You’d think the man would be more focused on his own pleasure due to the fact that as his job, but the way he licked and sucked at your cunt told you he might’ve been using that fleshlight for things other than fucking. You reached down and grabbed a handful of his hair as he pushed a finger into you slowly. “Fuck baby. Just like that hun.” You mumbled and threw your head back as he thrust his finger in and out of you in speed with his tongue against your clit.
After not too long you felt your back arch against the cold table and your thighs squeeze around Jeff’s head as you came against his tongue. The moan you let out, you were sure Venable would hear, but honestly you weren’t too concerned about that now. What you were concerned about was Jeff’s face, patchy red and staring up at you from between your thighs. His hair was tousled and his eyes were glossy as he stared at you. “C-can I please fuck you? Please mommy…” He asked as he moved his finger out of you, but instead of fully removing it he moved it to rub your clit slowly.
You nodded at him and he eagerly stood from his chair. Glancing at him you saw a pretty big stain on his shirt and it became obvious very quickly that you were not the only one who came, but he was already hard as a rock again. Smirking silently to yourself, you pulled your shirt off. He looked over your bra clad chest as he adjusted himself between your legs. As he slowly pushed himself into you, you felt him shake a little bit from excitement and nervousness. Pushing in, he leaned over you a bit, silently staring at your breasts as he leaned above you.
“Go ahead baby.” You whispered and almost immediately your bra padding was pulled down and his lips were connected to your nipple, his other hand finding your other breast. He immediately began some small thrusts into you on instinct as he sucked. The thrusts soon became more forceful and purposeful and your moans became a bit more high pitched. You could tell his stamina wasn’t going to let him last long so you would get the most out of this that you can.
Jeff’s eyes were glued to you, hardly able to pull them away for fear that if he did you’d cease to exist. Your moans of his name felt like small blessings from whatever beings were out there and having you wrapped around him was somehow just a pure god send. As you noted his slow in pace, you looked down back to him, gently wrapping your hand around his throat and catching his attention. “Go faster Jeff.” you strained out and squeezed his neck. He obeyed and you leaned up to catch his lips in a kiss as you felt yourself topple over the edge, his own orgasm following only seconds later.
As he slowed, he didn't pull out immediately, instead you wrapped him up in the kiss. You two made out for a moment as you caught your breath. As you slowed and he pulled out, you excused yourself to the small bathroom the men had attached to their lab. After cleaning yourself quickly, you walked out and saw Jeff sitting at his desk again, Mutt walking into the lab almost the same time you were walking out of the bathroom. You smiled at Mutt as he handed you the soup he had mentioned before on the phone. “Thanks Mutt. By the way, it’s bold of you to assume I wouldn’t know what my own pussy looks like. That’s not it…” you pointed at the fleshlight sat at his desk. “Jeff, how about you show him what needs fixing.” You smiled at the men and walked back to your desk, shutting the door behind you.

CHAPTER 5
Sam’s POV
The last kiss from Talia left me with a tight sensation in my pants as I crossed the street to my house. As much as I would’ve loved to bend her over right then and there, I knew I couldn’t. I never had this problem with other women so why was it that this one girl could change that. Like I had some morals… She made me fall for her in only a day and I didn’t know what to do with myself. I sighed as I shuffled back into my home, not bothering to turn off the music that still played softly in the background. I sat on the couch, an extra cup of whiskey sitting before me on the coffee table. “Fuck it.” I said sitting up to grab it and drink it. Jim Beam Apple and soda… it tasted like when we kissed the first time. I groaned as the memory sent a sensation through my chest and my pants tightened once more. I grabbed a cigarette and lit it in hopes to distract myself from the thoughts and the pressure building in me. I was going to let it be but the more I left it alone, the more it started to bother me. I groaned again and let my cigarette hang from my lips. “Okay, okay! Fuck…” I said to myself. I leaned back into my couch and undid my jeans, lifting my hips up to remove them. As I pulled on my boxers, my dick damn near sprung out on its own. I hissed as the fabric graced the tip on its way down. I took a long look at it standing bright pink, painful, and proud. “Just couldn’t control yourself could you….” I lazily grabbed hold of it and began moving my hand up and down. I threw my head back in an attempt to relax, thinking of Talia and how she looked singing tonight. Her curvy body swaying to the music, the sound and tone of her voice, the light in her smile, the swing of her hips as she walked… I let out a shameless moan as smoke exited my nostrils. The ash was falling onto my chest but I didn’t care. I became more and more sensitive as I remembered the feel of her lips on mine, her body wrapped in my arms, her hands running up my chest, tugging on my shirt in a needy fashion, and then I began thinking of all the things I wished I could’ve done to her. My hips bucked from the sensation and I picked up the pace. I stomped my foot with a hard grunt the closer I brought myself to climax. I ran my fingers through my hair with my free hand and let it rest on the back of the couch as I went. My knee was bouncing impatiently as that burning feeling in the pit of my stomach began to swell. My skin was beginning to heat up. “God damn…” I whispered as my thoughts drifted to bending her over the counter, ramming into her until she cried out. With a low growl, I picked up the pace and I twitched in my hands. “Woah!” I shouted as I released into the air, making an absolute mess of myself. “Fuck…” I huffed, relaxed now that I’d relieved myself. Without thinking, I shed myself of my shirt, and cleaned up my surroundings.
I was fine for now but I wasn’t sure how much longer I could last around Talia without scooping her into my arms and taking her to my bed. But for now, I had to settle for flirting and some cheeky kisses. ‘Not until she’s ready.’ I thought, finishing the last of the whisky soda. I stood up to turn off the music and lights in the house, shuffling to my room as I kicked off my boots. I fell flat onto the large plush bed and sighed, drifting off to sleep.
Talia’s POV
I woke up the next morning with a pounding headache, my mouth tasting like isopropyl. My best friend wrapped around my arm like I was gonna go somewhere. ‘I guess she really did miss me.’ I chuckled, trying to sit up without rocking the boat in my head. I slapped the side of Anna’s cheek lightly, telling her to get up. “Why?! What happened?!” She whined sitting up.
“I’m starving, let’s go eat…” I said.
“Can we get pollo loco? I really want some…” she asked, stretching and wiping the drool off her face.
“Yeah, yeah….” I nodded in a hushed tone, rushing to get dressed for some reason. I tried really hard to put the pieces of last night back together. After the performance, I couldn’t remember a thing. “Do you remember anything about last night?” She responded with a smile.
“Heeellll yeah I remember some things… and some thangs.” She wiggled her eyebrows and threw her hair up in a messy bun. “ I was hanging out with Marcel- that beautiful chocolate man- Louie was with Jules playin bean bag and then you and Sam went to join and play teams, theeennnnn……” she gave me a wicked grin.
“Please tell me I didn’t strip…” I whined. I knew I could get kinda crazy when I was under the influence.
“You would’ve had your tongue not been shoved down Sam’s throat.” She grabbed her face and blushed for me. That’s when I remembered…
“Shit. We did kiss… aaagghhh!” I cried falling backwards into my bed. “Do you think he hated it?”
“From the look on his face, he far from hated it, girl. You’re ok.” She said tapping my arm. “Sooo you gonna pursue Mr. Samuel Drake?” She asked in a dreamy tone. Honestly, I wasn’t sure. I thought maybe he’d want someone with their life put together. Or a bit older…
“What do you think?” I asked her.
“Honestly… I think you should. I mean he’s different from your usual type but it’s the good kind of different. And… God. It’s like he’s got something you need… I don’t know what it is but I’m sure you’ll figure it out along the way. Even though I’ve just met him and you’ve just met him, the way he looks at you… the way he treats you… And he’s certainly one of the better looking ones-”
“You tryna say I date ugly muh fuckers-”
“Um, no bitch, I’m telling you you’ve dated some ugly muh fuckers and THATS the tea.” she said in a matter of fact tone causing me to crack up. “Listen. I say go for it. It’s early days- yes- but be headstrong about it. And don’t change for him. Be unequivocally you. Because you deserve someone who loves you like that.”
“Aww fren!” I exclaimed, throwing my arms around her tightly before getting up to shower.
“Can I shower after you?” she asked, walking towards my dresser to rummage through my tee shirts. “Also can I steal a shirt?”
“Yeah girl.” I answered, closing the door.
After we showered and got dressed, we greeted my Godfamily and headed out about our day. Both Godparents were off this weekend and I didn’t wanna get in the way of core family time. Also, Anna and I had several things to do within two days' time. We threw on our shades as we walked to my blue Jeep, enjoying the morning sunshine and breeze. “Fuck I’m nauseous and I’m starving…” I groaned as it suddenly hit me.
“Wanna smoke? We can hot box the Jeep like we used to.” she said searching through her bag and pulling out a pack of rolling papers.
“Anais Long… How’d you know I had some on me?” I chuckled, speeding up our walk to the car.
“Bitch I’m not stupid! I saw you tuck it in there!” she laughed, running after me.
In a matter of minutes, we were sitting in the Jeep, staring at the sky through the sunroof as Siouxsie Sioux played softly in the background through the radio.
“What do you wanna do today?” I asked her as a flock of seagulls flew overhead.
“I really wanna go to the beach…” she answered, sitting up to ash the blunt to me.
“The beach sounds...fine.” My voice trailed off as I was distracted by Sam headed to the docks for his morning cigarette. His muscular body clad in a white tank top and gray sweatpants. A tattoo I hadn’t seen before was exposed on his left shoulder. Anna looked up with a gasp, lowering her glasses to get a better look.
“Very fine indeed...” she said sitting forward, almost choking on the smoke. “How big do you think he is?” She asked impulsively and I cackled, punching her in the arm.
“Jesus Christ, girl!” I giggled like a little school girl as I watched him take a seat and start on his first cigarette, repeatedly looking back at the gate behind him; like he was waiting for someone…
“Oh my god, is he looking for you? GIRL HE’S LOOKING FOR YOU!” she said undoing my seatbelt.
“What are you doing?!” I chuckled.
“Well you’re not just gonna sit in here and let him look like a lost puppy. You have to go out there!” she said reaching over me and opening the door as best as she could with her short arms. “Go bitch!”
“And leave you by yourself?”
“Yes bitch leave me by myself and go get your man!” She said rather enthusiastically.
I took a deep breath as that wave of nervousness crashed over me, even more so now that we’ve kissed. “Be strong bitch!” She told me and I nodded to leave.
I hopped out of the van and walked over. The gate startled me as I opened it up, pulling on my crop top nervously, I shuffled over and sat down without saying a word. “You know normal people say ‘Good morning.’” I heard his deep voice say as I fidgeted with the fringe on the hole of my baggy jeans.
“Sorry. I’m just really high.” I excused and he belted a cute little laugh.
“Wake n’ bake huh?”
“Yeah…. wanna come?” I asked, staring at him. He pouted his bottom lip and nodded.
“I don’t have any plans for the day. Why not?” He stood up suddenly offering me a hand. I took it and with a simple flex of the arm he pulled me up with ease. A bolt of attraction shot through me as I looked up at him. Most of the guys I dated couldn’t lift me up for more than ten seconds and he did it so easily. I couldn’t just sit and stare... I had to say something.
“I like your tattoo.” I said, actually able to get a good look at it. It was a hand of card with Lucky written on a banner beneath it.
“Thanks. I got it in prison.” he smirked, heading for the gate.
“Prison?!” I exclaimed.
“Yeah. Comes with some bad memories and what not.” he said trying to shrug it off. I could tell it bothered him though. Briefly, I stopped to look him in his hazel eyes.
“You don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to.” I said. He gave me a warm smile and stroked my cheek.
“You’re the sweetest.” he told me and I led him to the jeep where Anna was waving like a crazy person. He popped open the back door and slid in with a grin to greet Anna.
“Good morning, handsome!” she cooed, laying it on thick for me.
“Hiya, sweetheart! Hope this Florida weather is treating you right.” he said, closing the door behind him. He slouched a bit to get comfortable.
“Oh, I love it,” she replied. “We were actually just talking about hitting the beach.”
“Ah, now that’s an idea.” he said, taking a smooth hit and acknowledging the quality of the blunt. “Even better idea: I have a boat.” he said with a slight cough as he exhaled.
“Shut the fuck up- do you really?!” Anna became ten times more excited than she already was. He nodded with a big smile.
“If you want, you could make a day of it. I’ll take you to the boardwalk.” He said, winking at me.
“YES PLEASE!” Anna squealed.
“Talia? What say you?” he asked, seeking my permission. Then I had an idea myself.
“One condition… you’re coming with us.” I said with a mischievous grin, taking the blunt between my lips. He raised an intrigued thick brow before returning the smile.
“Sounds like a deal. I’ll call up Marcel. I’m sure there’s still some food and booze left over from last night.”
“You still wanna drink?” I said looking surprised. “Old man like you still tryna kick it.”
“Listen I’m only 42. I can hang, alright.” he chuckled.
“42 THE FUCK WHERE?!” Anna exclaimed, hanging over the passenger seat. “YOU LOOK 30!”
“You’re too kind, please! Keep talkin’.” He smirked as Anna took her hit.
“Well, we need to stop and get her swimsuit from the hotel.” I said, as I watched them exchange the blunt.
“Okay. That gives me a bit of time to get everything ready. Maybe grab some ice for the cooler-”
“I got it. Don’t worry about that.” Anna nodded.
“Alright then! Well, I guess I should get started. See you ladies in an hour?”
“More than enough time.” she smiled at him.
“I love how you two just planned my whole day for me.” I chuckled, turning in my seat to start the jeep. I rolled the windows down as he got out and he stopped at my window, brushing his hand against my arm gently.
“Be safe driving, okay?” he said, quite vulnerably actually. My breathing hitched and I nodded my head as I stared into his bright eyes. He smiled kindly and patted the hood of the car to send me off before walking towards his house, lighting another cigarette.
I turned my head to back out, just to be met with Anna's large ‘tarded smile.
“God you’re such a crackhead.” I chuckled as she danced in her seat.
“He likes you, he likes you!” she sang, making me laugh. And she continued. “He likes yo booty, he wanna touch it-”
“OH MY GOD!” I screamed in laughter as we started for the hotel.

(sorry if i sent this twice) can you pls write a sharky/reader fic where reader isn’t the deputy but just some college student visiting hope county, and she really likes sharky but he turns her down because she’s just too young for him?
Thank you very much for sending his in and I hope it’s not too late, so here it is! Big thanks to @fluttyseed for giving it a read
Pairing: Sharky Boshaw & Reader (Not Deputy), side Sharky Boshaw / GN Deputy.
Raiting: SFW, just a lot of unrequited feelings :((( and Sharky being all sweet about them.
"Hop in, chica,gotta take you to this place that's like--like a strategic location for whatyou doin'."
The midday sun'sglare scorched your skin, making you squint and drag an arm across yourforehead to dry the fat drops of sweat sitting there. The air bristled witharomas, the surrounding fields giving off a hint of freshly mowed barley, thatnow mingled with a light note of propane and a touch of musk coming from him.It was intoxicating.
You haphazardly threwyourself on the passenger seat, cheeks bright red and throat in dire need of agulp of water.
"Where we going,Sharky?" There was a slight waver in your voice as you rifled in yourbackpack trying to count the vials to take water samples. You couldn't help butbite your lip at how much his proximity kept affecting you, how every time heflashed you that smile, the one that lingered in his eyes, quicksilver poolsglowing with a warmth, your heart fluttered wildly. Hopelessly.
"There's a--uh,a lake I think you should check." He cranked the engine, and steered hissight on the highway.
As someone whocould've got lost in her own home town, you were beyond grateful to Mary May tohave sent you to his metaphorical - until now - arms. He knew the ins and outsof trudging across wild Montana, as if he was just walking across his livingroom. Truth was you'd been worried when you realized your project about lakes'pollution needed a bigger sample than the one you already had, and needed toget them before the current semester at college finished.
It was a good twentyminute ride until finally Sharky slowed down, and the truck stopped near the bankof a pristine lake, tires grating over fine gravel.
"'Mkay now, youwant me to get them for ya?" He was already peeling off his hoodie, andshucking his jeans off with an enthusiasm that was utterly infectious.
He'd offered himselffor the task from day one, trying to alleviate any hard labor from yourshoulders, claiming it was a good opportunity to freshen up in the ungodlyheat. You squinted under the heavy brilliance, admiring not for the first timethe multicolor landscape of this side of the County.
"Sure," yousaid kneeling to take the vials out of your backpack, handing them to him,"just try not to collect too much mud this time, please?"
"Don't worry,amigo, I think I got the nuts and bolts of this shit."
You watched him enterthe lake in nothing but his boxers, your eyes taking in the sight of him,putting to good use the fact he was obviously focused in doing what you askedfor. The first time he'd taken his clothes off, your eyes had widened of theirown accord, sliding down the lean muscles of his back and chest, and you'dthanked your luck he wasn't paying attention because your face had gone throughseveral shades of red before it stuck in a soft pink that you were able to maskas just exertion.
He was so easy totalk to and funny to a point you couldn't keep a straight face every time hewas determined to make you smile. Which was often, not that you werecomplaining. And so, falling down that rabbit hole had been unexpected andinevitable, and now you were head over heels with his scrawny ass.
Everything would'vebeen easier if he wasn't so damn handsome, and you could've just shaken off theinconvenient crush. But when he turned and faced you, smiling as he shook oneof the newly filled vials, and your gaze slid down his abs following his happytrail, you knew you were sunk down in a pit too deep.
The sad part was thathe didn't seem to notice what he stirred in you, treating you like a friend andnothing more. Not that you haven't tried to move him to act, a little touchhere, and a hand lingering there, but a whole month and you were still empty handed.
A sudden sloshing ofwater brought you back to reality seeing him proudly showing you hiswork.
"Got everythingyou needed, chica."
You tried not to givea wide display of your throat, when you felt your jaw unhinge seeing himcloser, water beads lazily rolling down his body and stopping in the mostinconvenient places.
"Thanks, Sharkman."
Taking the preciouscargo of his hands, you focused on the task of putting them neatly away whilehe decided to sprawl next to you, like a taunt to your senses.
"Now I kindaneed to dry my underwear, cuz I lost the spare ones," he said stretchingon the yellow grass, skin glimmering under golden rays. "What you wanna donow? Any more uh, places you gotta look at?"
"Notreally," you replied, "but we could go and grab a cold one at theSpread Eagle if you want?" You shrugged trying to feign nonchalance butyour heart was hammering against your ribcage, its rhythm drumming in your earsas well.
"Gotta say Ilike how you think." He switched onto his belly, exposing his black-cladrear to the shining sun, "not gonna lie to you, chica, I uh, I alwaysthought college girls were all-all uptight and y'know, not nice, but you ain'tlike that."
A soft chuckleescaped you. "Well, thanks, man. You ain't that bad either." Therewas a quiver in your stomach at the downplay of your own feelings, regrettingthe shyness that prevent you to chase some other course of action, becauseyou'd be gone in less than a day, and all this would scatter into fond memories.You sighed. "So it's that a yes?"
"Fuck yeah,count me in," Sharky nodded, "just wait 'til I don't feel like Ipissed myself and we're good to go."
The almost faintnotes of a Diana Ross' song blasting from the car, wafted in the air, tanglingwith the stifling atmosphere, and everything was making you dizzy. You foughtthe urge to touch him, maybe brush two inches of his skin and finally find thecourage to voice the feeling you had been trying to disregard for the lastmonth.
"Y'know, chica?I'm gonna, uh, I'm gonna miss ya," he said covering his face with his capunder the blazing sun. "Had a good time doing all that science shit--- gofigure, a dumb dropout like me."
"You are notdumb, Sharky," you scolded him. It was something that ground your gears tono end, seeing how easily was for people disregard how smart he really was,throwing the same argument over and over again: dumb failure, you ain't morethan a school dropout. "If it wasn't for you I would've failed big time solet's just say this is also yours."
His chuckle rang inyour ears from beneath his cap, until he finally leaned on his elbows andlooked at you. "You're a real friend dude," he said, grinning.
The weight of hiswords sagged your shoulders a little and you lowered your eyes to the gravelsurrounding the blue lake. Not something you wanted to keep on dwelling.
"Aight,then." You stood up with a brisk movement, before the blushing had time tocreep up your cheeks. "Let's go get that beer."
----------
"... and lastthing I knew I was smooching it right in the fuckin nose, open mouth andall."
A gurgle of laughterrippled out of you, while images of his story flitted through your mind. An hourhad passed in the most perfect way, while you both shared stories over beers.But nothing had peaked this one yet.
"Yeah, yeah,laugh all you want, dude-- I'm tellin' ya, that skunk? Meaniest dink ass I'dever--"
"Kissed?"You offered, feeling tears welling up in your eyes. "I'm sorry-- I'msorry, that was rude."
"Bet your ass itwas," he said, without stop grinning, taking a swig from his bottle."Don't expect my dates to almost rip my lips off, which it did--motherfucker left a huge scar here, see?"
When Sharky leanedforward, your heart shivered in your chest, and you regretted you both weresitting side to side, without the table in between to dampen your stupidreactions.
He stopped a scantinch from your face, pouting, his lower lip on display so you could see a faintscar on it. It must've been the alcohol, and the fact it was round number fourand your stomach was as empty as a wallet before payday, and suddenly it wasimpossible to quash down your leaping heart, his closeness rattling the sundryfeelings revolting in you.
You pressed your lipsagainst his, hearing a surprised gasp dying in your mouth. It was soft and warmand your hands fell to his thighs, supporting you in your eagerness.
But as soon as thecomfort of the yearned place came, it swiftly vanished.
"Woah, woah,there," Sharky panted, clasping you gently by the shoulders, lips red andbreath stuttered, "what you doing, amigo?"
There was no anger inhis voice, just the soft frowning of bafflement, metal-grey gaze delving intoyou, deep enough to break your flimsy hopes.
"I'm--I'm sorry,Shark, I don't know what happened to me I just---" You tried not to showhim any tears, but it was harder than you thought. One drop, and then another,streaks ran down your cheeks, completely out of your control and the desire tojust bolt and run into the night churned in your stomach.
"Hey, hey, easythere," he said, signaling someone for a glass of water and hugging you ina way that made everything more painful. But you couldn't push him away.
When the glass ofwater came, he made you drink it in three short gulps, until your intake of airevened out.
"Hey, chica, I'msuper flattered y'know?" He cupped your cheek, lightly thumbing the rim ofyour jaw while you struggled not to run away fueled by embarrassment."Like, you're real cute, ok? And so fuckin' smart, but I mean, you're waytoo young--"
"I just turned20, I know what I want," you retaliated.
Sharky only chuckled,tilting his head back. "'Kay then, big you, still-- you got all that longass life to live and probably gonna end up with someone who's far better thanme-- I mean I'm pretty great, don't get me wrong," he said, and you huffeda short and hoarse laugh, "but y'know-- cherry, I ain't enough forya."
You were about totell him how wrong he was, how misdirected his guessings were, when you caughtmovement in your peripheral vision. It was one of Sheriff's Whitehorsedeputies. The newest one if your memory didn't fail you.
"Everything good'round here?" They placed a hand on Sharky’s shoulder, and you saw himpositively turn beet red under his cap. Your eyes were drawn to their face,white flashing through plump lips in an honest smile.
"Yeah, officer,uh-just, uh, just saying goodbye to a friend," Sharky said stumbling uponwords on a higher rate than normal.
"Ah, well, sorryto interrupt, then." They gave a slight nod, dimples coming to life on awarm face, and they were gone, boots tapping against the wooden floor.
You saw Sharkyfollowing them with starved sight, eyes almost swaying with the cadence oftheir walking and a hard knot formed in your stomach.
It was clear as day.After all, you'd seen his whole shenanigans for a month, time long enough soyou could realize he had a crush, the size of a wild moose, on the JuniorDeputy.
Not much you coulddo, as much as it hurt.
You found your voiceamidst the inner turbulence. "Y'know man? You should pursue that,"you said with an almost complicit smile, wiping your tears.
Watching Sharkyambushed by feelings was a whole show. "What? Nah, you got it wrong,sweets- I mean they're a fucking cop, we're like natural enemies--"
You scoffed."Sure, man, whatever helps you sleep at night, still," you added,"they're really cute."
"The fuck you'retalking about, chica?"
"Oh, c'mon,don't be such a liar."
He remained silent fora few seconds before finally springing up, giving you a hand.
"You reallythink so?" He almost whispered.
Your illusions anddesires scattered in the air. But he was your friend, and if that was the bondthat should remain, you were determined to honor it.
"Yeah, man. Whoknows? Maybe that's your destiny right there."

Not As Bad As He Seems
Request: Heii!!!!<3 if you got time, would you write how Felix is scaring every girl on neverland but you so every girl is like "wtf how" and respect you and then you date him and fluff
Pairings: Felix x reader
Warnings: fluffy and kinda suggestive but no sexy times :)
Tumblr media
Looking across the camp my eyes settle on the flames of the roaring fire, red and orange swirls licking the starry night sky. However, it wasn't the twisted flames I was interested in, it was the person behind them, the only other boy in camp that people fear besides the leader, Felix. His broad shoulders sunk down as he slouched on the rough log, the flames from the fire casting his face in a golden glow. Shaggy blond hair lay aimlessly over his ice like eyes while they stared into the flames which danced together, my eyes slowly travelled down the scar that was permnetally etched into his soft skin like a tattoo as it cut into his sharp cheek bones. Casually, he rested his big wooden club over his shoulder giving him a whole 'bad boy' demeanor, to which he certainly lived up to the expectation of.
Most, if not all, of the girls in camp feared him and although he could joke and have fun with the boys they still respected him as if he were no different to Pan.
Everything about him was perfect, the way he acted so confident around everyone else, but I could see the truth and pain behind those blue eyes and I wanted to change it.
I was so lost in my thoughts that I hadn't noticed Felix's cold eyes now lingered on me, the ghost of a smile haunted his pink lips as we stared at each other from across the fire, I wanted time to stand still. Oh, what I would give to be in this moment forever.
"Y/n" someone yelled, trying to grasp my attention.
Forcing a smile, I made myself look away from the mysterious boy and to whoever it was that was calling my name. I found Rececca standing in front of me, her light brown hair tied up into a bun as she held her hands behind her frilly white night gown.
"Yes?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Um..." she said, quickly glancing over at Felix before he eyes returned to me "I'm going to warn you, stay away from Felix."
If she had said that about any other lost boy I would've thought it was a pathetic attempt at a threat to try and scare me into 'staying away from her man' but the fear the clouded behind her green eyes suggested otherwise.
"And why would I do that?" I cockily replied.
"What if" she says before pausing, turning in a full circle to see if anyone was listening in while she leaned closer and lowered her voice to a whisper "What if he tries to hurt you, or worse, kill you."
I couldn't contain the giggle that so desperately wanted to come out of my mouth, my e/c eyes almost tearing up.
"You think Felix will kill me?" I laughed, rolling my eyes "please."
"You're really not afraid of him?" She asked, curiously dripping off every word.
I stopped laughing at that point, debating in my head if this was a real question or not.
"No" I said while standing up "Now if you don't mind, I'm going to go to bed."
My feet lead me in the direction of my tent, quietly I giggled to myself once more as I entered my dark home. I considered lighting a candle but decided against it as I would just blow it our in a couple of second anyway, making it a waist of a match.
Slowly, I slipped my clothes off of my body, leaving me almost exposed, apart from my bra and panties before climbing into my soft bed and letting my head hit the fluffy pillow. Wrapping myself up in warm blankets I let blissful sleep take over my body.
I woke up to the unpleasant feeling of being shaken awake by something, no someone. Lazily, I shot up out of the comfort of my bed, ready to fight the intruder, pinning them to the floor before opening my dreary eyes.
"Felix?" I asked in a stated of shock and tiredness "What are you doing in my tent?"
"You mean my tent?" He asked with a smirk as his hands were still pinned over his head.
Slowly lifting my head up I looked around the candle lit room, the blond boy laughing at me as he watched the colour drain from my face.
This was not my tent.
"You're welcome to stay the night if you really want to." He suggested in a shy tone as his face turned a deep shade of red, not at all what I would expect from him "I mean I don't think you really want to run across camp in just your pants."
Now it was my turn to be flustered as I looked down at my overly exposed skin, only just realising now what position we were in. Quickly, I got off of him and scrambled to my feet.
"Y-you're right" I stuttered with a face redder than a tomato "I don't want to go out like this."
The logical thing to do in this moment would be to put my clothes back on and walk back to my tent, we both knew it but nether of us wanted me to do it. So instead I took him up on his offer, once again climbing under the heaven like quilt of his bed while he blew out the small candle which was placed on his bedside table before following my action.
Immediately, I tenced up as I felt his soft skin brush against mine, his finger tips lightly brushing over my arm was enough to make the hairs on the back of my neck stand tall. I turned around so that my back was facing him, making it more comftorle but I was still as stiff as a board.
"Relax." He whispered, his hot breath slowly walked down my neck as he wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me into his warm chest.
Thanking whatever God there was out there that it was too dark for him to see the enormous blush the bloomed on my cheeks.
After a while of quietly lying here, I heard light snores drift from the boy who was now hugging me. While letting my eyes fall close.
When I woke up Felix wasn't there any more, leaving a cold empty space on the bed where he had once lay. Gentally running my hand on the now empty space as I sat up before pulling my clothes back over my body and walking out, hoping and praying that no one would see me leave Felix's tent.
Quietly I tip toed out, silently cheering with delight at my victory, before I smashed into something hard.
"Hello love" Pan loomed over me his arms folded over his chest he a cocky grin permnetally etched onto his face "And what are you doing sneaking out of my second in command tent at the early hours of the morning?"
"I-its not what it looks like" I stuttered blushing at the idea which was planted into the leaders head.
With a sadistic laugh he raised an eyebrow, peering down at my tiny frame "don't worry, you're little secrets safe with me I promise." The said before strutting away.
"Sure it is" I sarcastically mumbled to myself before dusting myself off and making my way to where we have target practice.
A few boys were already standing around and talking, Felix being one amoung that group. He smiled and laughed along with the boys he considered his brothers, his eyes almost strunching up as joyful tears threatened to spill out of them. Once the red faced boys calmed down, some wiping a few stray tear from there eyes, Felix's cold eyes met mine.
He began walking over to me, leading me aside from the group of rowdy teenagers. With his large hand on my shoulder, the looked down at me, making me feel as small as a mouse.
"I'm sorry about leaving this morning." He spoke in a hushed tone, making sure no one could hear.
"It's fine." I smiled up at the tall boy "besides I'm not your girlfriend, you don't need to apologise for anything."
His facial expression changed from happy to.... hurt?
However, his sudden change in mood left as quickly as it came, going back to the same emotionless lost boy that he was before. Bit his eyes remain the same, that broken look lingered behind them like a ghost in mist.
"What's wron-" but before I could even finish my sentence the king of Neverland decided to talk.
"Listen up everyone!" He boomed "We're going to play a game!"
Everyone erupted in cheers, letting their excitement get the better of them, even me. My e/c eyes slowly slid to the side looking at the second in command, his face didn't change, he didn't even flinch at the news.
"Ok settle down!" Pan said, the whole island turning silent "we're going to have a treasure hunt. Get into partners and take a map, the first person the get the treasure wins."
Some of the girls buddies up with each other, the rest going with the lost boy that they liked which you could imagine caused some problems. Looking around for someone to parents up with I found that there was no one left and so did Felix, leaving us standing there, looking at each other.
"Well" he said, is time as sharp as a blade "I guess I'm with you then."
"Yeah..."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is part one! I'm sorry it took longer than I had expected to post this but I hope you like it so far! 😊
An Agreement
Ok, so I have two characters that I’ve been fleshing out and developing on their own and decided to try writing them together as they’re supposed to be for once! So I wrote something to try playing around with the two of them and another of my characters in a fun little thing to actually get myself back into writing. Especially to make myself try to describe characters more as I write them which I’m pretty awful at XD
Mihal, Duelek and Orrin are all mine This is a kind of mythical creature/monster au of sorts! Mihal and Duelek are both kinda finned snake people things. Enjoy!
Ko-Fi
~
“Ya shouldn’ta bothered with ‘im.”
“He needed help though.”
“Ain’t no problem a ours none.”
“I be known but still… ain’t wanted ta leave him out there like that.”
“Woulda been his own fault.”
Orrin groaned, alerting the two arguing voices to the fact that he was returning to consciousness from the empty darkness of rest accompanied by a vicious pounding in his skull. He lifted his hand to his glass-covered clenched shut eyes, trying to further shade and protect them from the weak spring sun above him trying to pierce into his skull aided by the lenses that usually assisted him in the task of perceiving the world around him, only to find his path blocked by a different pair of hands, cold and wet and… off in a way he couldn’t quite make sense of.
“Ya real shouldn’t be touchin ‘im.”
“Hush yaself,” the snap was soft, distracted and from somewhere directly over Orrin’s face, contrasting the rougher voice that sounded a bit further away. Then there’s an odd cooing accompanied by the feeling of thumbs rubbing the skin of his cheeks, nails of some kind as well. “He’s needin help, we should be givin it.”
“I tried.”
“I said hush,” a sharp edge entered the voice above his head and Orrin flinched ever so slightly, drawing attention back to himself and a shadow over his face. “Ya alright?”
“I… do not believe so,” he groaned again, blue eyes squinting open so he could see exactly who was above him. “My head feels—” He cut himself off as the individual shading him from the shadow over his face came into focus.
A human face, skin dark in colour than Orrin himself was, if not for the purple scales lining it, settled around eyes that were dark and empty similar to that of a snake and fanning across sharp cheeks and their forehead leading into long, dark brown water-soaked curls. There were a set of fins to either side of the face above him, fluttering and fanning out in rapidly increasing motions.
This certainly wasn’t a human.
The creature drew it’s hands back towards itself at Orrin’s silence and inspection, curved fangs biting into it’s bottom lip as Orrin looked to them itself of the face over his. While humanoid at a glance it was obviously that instead of fingers it had claws, each one ended in a chipped nail far longer than any Orrin had ever seen before and covered completely in scales in every shade of purple from the elbow to the joint of it’s fingers.
“Told ya ya was better off leavin ‘im be.” The voice comes from somewhere behind the individual over Orrin and it turns back to hiss at the other voice, a short, low sound reminiscent of an annoyed or irritated snake.
“Shut up!” The fins on the side of it’s head flared out in a striking contrast of colour against the darkness of it’s hair. “S’just a little scared, s’all.”
“Scared and gonna tell people ‘bout this shit.” The other shot back, sounding much calmer than there was any right to be whilst implying that it was better to dispose of Orrin than not.
“If I could interject,” Orrin spoke around a pained noise as he forced himself to sit up, finally getting a better look at the first individual as well as his first on the other in the scenario, carefully pushing himself back from their proximity ever so slightly. The other was very similar to the first, if a bit sharper in it’s face and the sharp line of it’s shoulders, or what Orrin could see of them from where it was reclining on the shore of the nearby lake, arms folded and chin resting upon them. It’s hair was shorter than the first’s as well and closer to a black than the deep brown of the other. Both of them had long tails where their waist and legs should have been, bright scales glittering and shifting in colour tone before his eyes as they twitched and shifted gently, tipped with a pair of fins similar to those at the side of their heads.
Wholly inhuman and nothing Orrin should have ever involved himself with. Though how he had come to do so was a mystery to him.
“I will not—”
“Nah.”
“Excuse me?”
It was the other one that had spoken and cut him off, chin rested on scaled claws, nails scoring into the wet soil at the edge of the lake. It’s eyes were half-lidded, hair fallen into it’s face and remaining stuck there in clumps of water-soaked strands. It rolled empty eyes at him, lips pulling back just enough to show off rows of needle-sharp teeth.
“Ain’t caring ‘bout whatever ya have ta ‘interject’ with,” it said, tail moving lazily in the water, a blur of formless purple. It’s lips pulled back further, baring more of it’s teeth and the stark white of it’s gums. “So shut yaself ‘fore I drag ya back under.”
“… that is incredibly rude of you.”
It’s all Orrin can really think in that moment and it’s far from what he wanted to say to the thing that was threatening him. It seemed that the two of them weren’t expecting to hear anything like that either if they way they both turned to stare at him in question was to go by, fins fluttering and head tilted similarly to a dog’s.
“Tryin ta be amusin ain’t helpin ya much.”
“We can’t just be makin threats afta savin ‘im!”
“I can,” the farther one dropped further back from the inquisitive lift it’d taken up at Orrin’s words, placing it’s chin back onto it’s folded arms, peering at Orrin from the corner of it’s eye, face turned towards the other. “I didn’t save ‘im.”
“Ya can’t—!”
“What if I swear myself to silence?” Orrin questioned, cutting off the softer of the two off as he felt that things were taking a turn for the dangerous. “Swear to not saying anything about either of you to anyone? Would that be enough?”
“Shake on it.”
“He doesn’t need ta—”
“He does.” The words rung with finality and Orrin felt his heart freeze in his chest, unsure of wht exactly what the rougher of the two was suggesting entailed but not sure he liked it either way. “If he don’t then Imma drag ‘im back down. No matta what ya want.”
“But…”
“I will do it. I will shake on it.”
The two creatures turn back to him, the sharper looking pleased with his decision while the other’s face fell. His decision made Orrin chose to focus on the sharper of the two, meeting half-lidded eyes as levelly as he was able.
“Good. Go on bro, he’s wantin ta make the deal.”
The softer of the two looks between Orrin and the other, fins fluttering before they pressed close to its skull and it turned back to Orrin, face turned towards its own hands.
“Ok.” It breathed, tail stretching out as it shifted closer to Orrin, offering it’s claw towards him. “Promise not ta be speakin’ ‘bout us ta no other and shake.”
Orrin hesitated a moment, just a moment as he looked at the outstretched hand, offering his own when he heard the noticeable sound of water moving and taking it, the tone of his own skin a lighter contrast to the creature’s own.
There’s a sting, a bite where the tips of its nails sink shallow indents into Orrin’s skin, his eyes move away from the one watching the proceeding to see something like ink curl from the indents into a band at his wrist, cleanly encircling the flesh in a brand that would lead to nothing but question.
“Is that all?” That didn’t really seem to have much of any kind of purpose really, aside from the ink on his wrist that the creature holding his hand had raised his captive arm towards its face to inspect.
“S’alright,” there was an air of contentedness about the onlooker’s voice as Orrin’s hand was releasing, the creature stretching it’s torso out on the edge of the lake in a lazy sprawl. “Ain’t gone be able ta get ta chatterin with that, free ta do what ya want now.”
Orrin blinked, opened his mouth to say something only to stop as the one closest to him spoke up. “So he can stay, yeah?”
“What?” “Excuse me?”
It wilts a bit at both of their attention focused onto it, shoulders hunching up closer to the fins pressed tight to the side of it’s skull once more, voice losing volume and becoming shaky as it continued. “Iffin… Iffin he wants a course… ya said he could do whatever he wants now that he’s…” it trails off into mumbling that Orrin can’t catch and catch be sure that the onlooker didn’t.
“… suppose yeah.” Orrin’s attention snapped back to the onlooking creature who seemed uninterested in the situation once more, inspecting the nails of it’s own claws with a languid pace. “Iffin he be wantin’ ta.”
Remaining here for any length of extended time did not really sound too appealing to him, but saying so outright might be rude and he didn’t know how either would take such an abrupt and clear dismissal of his continued presence on their lakefront.
Even more so when the softer of the two turned back to him, a gleam in it’s eye and small, hopeful smile on it’s face. “Mayhaps… ya could stay a bit? S’not… S;probably s’not real good ta move too soon, yeah? Ya should stay here a bit and rest, yeah?”
“I think I should leave.”
It’s smile drops and its fins droop, arms crossing over it’s torso as blank eyes turned away from Orrin to focus on some point at the ground.
“Oh.”
“Lookit you bein all heartbreakin afta he saved ya ass, rude.”
“I am completely soaked,” Orrin continued, ignoring the cold near snarl from the water. “I more than likely have an untreated concussion and I need to go be looked over and change before I freeze to death.”
The closest of the two perks up at his words, brows furrowing and mouth twisting as it splayed it’s claws out towards him, missing Orrin’s flinch even if the further of the two creature’s didn’t, motioning him off with small, quick motions. “Ya right! Ya warm blooded ones get cold and sick from the water, ya should go, it’s bein for the best.”
“Ya just—”
“It’s for the best.” It repeats, tail stretching out more from the curl of it Orrin had yet to notice as it pressed closer towards him, putting it’s face only a scant few inches from Orrin’s own as if to inspect him better. “Ain’t wantin ta waste hard work by ya gettin sick on us, yeah? Then ya really wouldn’t come back.” It chuckles the last little add-on but it rings hollow and aching, accompanied by it’s fins fluttering and flaring away from the side of it’s head.
Orrin looked between it and the other, teeth biting into his bottom lip and considering what to do now. It would be simply enough to take the opportunity granted and leave, escape and never come back. It wasn’t as if these creatures could really come and track him down, at least he certainly hoped they wouldn’t, whatever they were.
He was free to go, free to stand up and leave the lakefront and never look back on or think about it again. It was so easy to do.
“I will… try to return when I am… able to stay longer.” Or perhaps he could put his foot into his mouth and give another promise to these creatures, as if the first hadn’t been enough to cement how awful an idea it was to do so into his head.
It brightens up the creature in front of him though and it grins at him, showing off the odd backwards curve of it’s teeth towards the back of it’s own throat.
“Then we’ll be waitin ta see ya again!” It pauses, brow furrowing at Orrin. “Ain’t real knowin’ what ta call ya.”
“Orrin,” he doesn’t mention anything about his last name and that seems to be more than enough for the creature to return to grinning at him.
“Orrin.” It repeats, the name sounding a little off on it’s vocals. “Ya can call us Mihal and Duelek, yeah? For next time.”
“I will… keep those in mind for when I return.”
Hey I updated Shadows of Envy
Chapter One
Tagged on my blog as either Shadows of Envy or ekau 3!
Contains no romantic pairings aside from Pixane and hinted Geode (esp here)
The living room was still alive with the sounds of discussion, though mostly from Jay and Cole’s playful banter. Lloyd had seemingly just finished his comic book, and with a quick goodbye to the boys on the couch, he left for bed. It was late, anyways, probably around 10 or 11 at night. Perfect for bedtime.
Footsteps made their way to the living room, drawing their attention. Cole glanced over to investigate only to see Kai making his way through the living room to the bedrooms. He seemed to stare at them all oddly, yet when he met Cole’s gaze, it melted back normal.
“Oh, hey Kai!” Jay leaned back towards him, “where were you all day?”
The red ninja shrugged. “Just doing some late night training,” he replied. “Can’t get out of shape, y’know?” He looked around the room. “Where’s Llo- I mean, everyone else? Are they all asleep?”
“Yea, they’re all actually getting sleep,” Jay chuckled, “unlike us.” Telltale shadows showed under his eyes, but they were to be expected since he, well, never sleeps. He can stay up all night without issue and be fine all day. How Arid boiled with envy.
“And I, uh, can’t really sleep all that well anymore?” Cole said. “Since, uh, I’m kinda dead?” Lucky.
“Well, you two night owls stay up as looooong as you want, but I’m gonna hit the hay,” ‘Kai’ began to leave to the bedrooms. “Crashed myself completely during training, gotta relax a tad.” He easily sauntered out of the room. “Night, losers.” “Night!” “Nighto, Kai!” As he left the living room, he heard the farewells of his friends. They’re only saying that to pretend they don’t hate me, Arid’s internal monologue interjected, but I know they do. They’re just trying to not show it. He scoffed to himself. In the room they all shared on the Bounty was darkness. The lights were off and Nya, Zane, and now Lloyd were asleep in their beds.
Lloyd. The Green Ninja. The Golden Ninja. Everyone loved him. He saved the world many times and everyone praised him for it. I should’ve been the green ninja. I trained for it so much and got nothing out of it when he, a child, got to save the world and be rewarded for it. If anyone in the room was still awake, they’d probably be terrified of the cold, vengeful glare on Kai’s face, marred by red eyes glowing black from the shadows surrounding them.
What no one had noticed was that ‘Kai’ no longer had a shadow.
Kai’s shadow, or more appropriately, the real Kai, was still down in the forest, stewing in the shades of the trees. How DARE Arid just… walk off with his body like that!? That was so wrong of him to do, and Kai was going to get it back.
“But how?” he wondered aloud. He clearly couldn’t leave the shadows, since the light would hurt him. Kai plopped down into a criss-cross position, although it wasn’t entirely visible to even himself. His legs were almost gone, just a slight shade darker than the forest floor.
Suddenly, a thought crossed Kai’s mind. He had escaped from Arid once. How did he do that? One moment he was affixed to his body’s legs, the next he was in the trees. All he did was want to leave the proximity…
Maybe that was it. Standing back up, he stared at the opposite side of the clearing. The trees there gave as much shadowy coverage as anything else here, so if Kai just… thought… himself to the other side, maybe it would work? He closed his eyes, imagined the shade, and thought ‘I want to go there.’
A strange sensation overtook his body, or whatever his form was right now. A rushing feeling, almost as if the particles of his body were rearranging to another location without him walking there. He opened his eyes and found himself staring at the side of the clearing he had just been, marked by a few mushrooms at the trees’ base.
“YEA BABY!!” Kai pumped his fist excitedly into the air. He thought of something… and for once, it actually worked! Well would you look at that! With this newfound knowledge, Kai closed his eyes again and imagined the storage closet of the Bounty, knowing that it would more than likely be closed and dark. After a few minutes, it was clear he wasn’t going anywhere.
Opening his eyes, he found himself nowhere near the closet, or the Bounty, for that matter. He was still in the forest, and still alone. Glaring up at the floating ship he now calls home, he tried to reason with himself as to what went wrong. Was he too far away? Could he not… teleport like that, and he could only do it to nearby places, or was it…
Kai looked back up the the Bounty. It floated like any other flying ship, with a long anchor tying it to the ground. Onboard, however, he saw something that might help. A barrel holding lots of spare swords for training that was usually uncovered. He focused really hard on that barrel, feeling his particles again flutter. Everything went dark for a split second, and the next thing he knew, he was in the barrel with about five swords slicing cleanly through his form. He yelped, then shut his mouth immediately. What if someone heard? Oh, who was he kidding, of course someone heard that.
Strangely enough, the swords didn’t hurt. His limbs seemed to warp around them, not allowing them to attach themselves to his arms. Kai waved his arm through a sword curiously, which simply ghosted through it, leaving wisps of slightly darker shadow in its wake.
Enough with swords and barrels; Kai needed to get out. Once again he tried to poof to the closet, only for it to not work again. The hypothesis proved true: he can only teleport to what he can see directly, or move around freely in darkness. Thankfully, the barrel seemed to be in a shaded part of the training deck, so he carefully poked his head out to check for moonlight, before the rest of his body followed. All the lights inside were out aside from the living room light, where Jay, Cole, and Lloyd probably still were.
Picking the closest dark room he saw through the windows, Kai found himself in the kitchen. Here he walked around freely, staying clear of the windows showing light in. The burning really hurt and he wasn’t stupid enough to try it again. He followed his route from earlier, where he was practicing his sword tricks, until he came across the storage closet. Kai sent it a murderous glance, or at least what he thought was one. Did he even have a face anymore?
Past the storage closet he saw light. The living room. Kai walked up closer to it, as close as he dared to go, to investigate. There he saw Cole floating lazily in the air, all alone. Perfect.
“Hey! Hey Cole!! Look over here!!!” Kai yelled at him. “Cole!!! I’m! Over! Here!” With each word he moved his arms and jumped around, tried to make noise so that the ghost would look over and see him. Tried to being the key word. Cole didn’t notice him in the slightest and instead of making noise when his feet met the floor, he was as silent as a feather. Pounding the wall did nothing; it made the same sound as hitting a mattress.
Now Kai was getting frustrated. “COLE!!! OVER HERE!!!!!!! LOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!” He yelled as loud as he could, because what if Arid was here and could hear? Still, he was impatient, and impatience waits not for caution. He poofed to random shadowy points of the room to try and grab his attention, but nothing worked. Back in the doorway, he tried a last ditch resort. He stuck his hand into the artificial light.
The searing pain that danced across his fingers was horrible, Kai could almost hear them hiss and fizzle. He drew them back gingerly, already regretting his decision as he hissed himself.
Somehow, this worked. Cole’s head abruptly snapped up, and he was on his feet and levitating a pillow in his hands as best as he could. “Who’s there?!” Cole yelled out. As he scanned the room, his eyes met Kai’s. Yet as relief filled the red ninja’s eyes, the black ninja wasn’t satiated. “Who- what the- what the fuck is that?!?” He tossed the pillow at Kai with surprising force, who ducked out of the way.
“AHH- COLE STOP!” At this, Cole froze. He walked over to Kai, who straightened back up and stared at the ghost.
“How do you know my name?” He asked in an even tone. Kai gave a nervous chuckle.
“Do you not recognize me? Dude, I’ve been trying to get your attention for the past, like, 5 minutes maybe? Do your ears need to be cleaned?”
Cole just looked even more confused. “How should I recognize uh… whatever you are? WHOever you are?”
Kai frowned. “Dude it’s me, Kai.” Doubt seeped into Cole’s face, to which Kai quickly raised his hands in confusion. “Do I not look like myself or something? I mean, I KNOW I’m like, a shadow right now or something like that, but don’t you recognize me at all?”
The black ninja squinted at him. “You’re literally a slightly darker silhouette with two glowing red dots on your face. I don’t think Kai looks, or ever looked, like that. Plus,” he jerked his thumb over to the corridor to the bedrooms, “I just saw Kai go bed. Seemed pretty tired from training on his own.”
“That wasn’t me,” the real Kai protested, “That was NOT me, Cole.” “Then explain who that was, if you’re the real Kai.” “That’s my shadow possessing me.” A raised eyebrow. “Look, I don’t know how else to tell you that you guys are probably in danger, because that. Was. Not. Me.” His voice took on a dangerous note at the end, and Cole seemed visually disturbed.
After a bit, Cole glared up at Kai. “Ok then, if you’re the real Kai, then tell me.” He leaned in closer. “What is… my favorite ice cream flavor.”
“Usually whatever Jay picks-” Kai muttered under his breath, “-I mean, uh, you usually go for, uh…” Was this a trick question? Cole either picked rocky road or whatever Jay had whenever they went out for ice cream, but as for what his actual favorite was…
“You never chose one, I don’t think, so you went with the, insert sarcasm here, oh so amazing choice of ice cream cake. Even though ice cream cake is like, many different flavors-” “But I chose it because it was cake and I love cake more than ice cream! Well, loved…” Cole’s gaze turned melancholy before he looked back at Kai. “But that was the right answer, so I guess I’ll take your word for it. Now Cole looked at him more, bewildered than anything. “What the hell happened to you, Kai?”
“It’s uh,” the shadow laughed nervously, “a long story. You’re gonna have to turn off the lights for this.”
He followed me home, chap. 4
Tumblr media
Title: Hew followed me home,,
Rating:   T
Summary :  The whole world gets involved when you and your new boyfriend, Chris Evans, adopt a friend for Dodger but then can’t settle on a name.   .
This chapter:  Chris and reader navigate some unexpected twists.  Fluff and some angst, a teensy bit of social anxiety and a little making out.
Happy Birthday @theycallmebecca!!    We’re finally at the end!    Thanks so much to @arizonapoppy for her awesome and timely help.   Oenethera5 is the one who came up with the winning name.  Hope you all like it.   Because I rushed to get this up for Becca’s big day it is not beta’d.  If y’all spot anything too heinous let me know :)
You can find Chapter 1  etc. here:    He Followed Me Home,   .tags for folks below the cut
-----------------------------------------------  .
Two weeks after puppy comes home Chris goes back to work.
 There’s a whirlwind of press to do for Red Sea Diving and Avengers 3, and with the rave reviews for both (and his Broadway debut) your giant, bouncing labrador of a boyfriend is on a high.
 This night his assignment is Jimmy Kimmel Live.
The Town car pulls up in front of the old masonic lodge that hosts Kimmel’s studio and  you’re thinking ‘Wow”.   Already the crush of tourists and fans outside the doors snakes past El Capitan’s classic art deco theatre to Ghirardelli’s chocolate shop, held back by a line of security and police.  The walk of fame with its stars outfront has a red carpet laid on top.  The facade looks elegant; all stone columns and ionic capitals, banners and bright lights.
 Flashbulbs are already popping before Chris finishes his call with Susan, his long time publicist.
 “Fine. Yeah.  I know. I know. I’m good. Breathe. Yup, I’m breathing.  See you at 10 for dinner.”  He swipes his phone shut and smiles weakly across at you, leg going a million miles an hour.  The nerves never get any easier. They do this before almost every show—Susan, the pro, talking  him down, getting the noisy brain in gear, but this time with the Avengers hype off the dial, they decide it might help if you came along.
 (Officially you are representing Getaway and reporting back on audience response. Unofficially you are there to stand in the wings and wish calming vibes his way.)
 The evening mercifully starts out light and easy.
 Jimmy loves Chris as an interview: they always have fun and joke around, but he knows his subject well enough to go a little slow while his guest gets in the groove.
“What is new with you?” he asks, smiling broadly, clapping Chris on the shoulder as he sits on the soft grey wool of the couch,  bobbing his head at the wild applause and nervously smoothing his tie in place.
“Not much.  Filming. Hanging out.” Chris huffs a breath and smiles, trying to act nonchalant, adjusting his cuffs and surreptitiously wiping his sweaty palms on his dark suit pants.   “A ten city press tour.”
Jimmy’s eyebrows head for the ceiling.  “Not much?  Other than being everywhere on screen and nearly breaking the internet tweeting about your dog?”
Chris laughs and Jimmy explains whole missing Dodger thing to the audience.   “For the few folks who spent this year underneath a rock—this is Dodger.  And this is where we all thought he died!”
Pictures of Dodger show up on the big screen backdrop; the pining tweets that were misinterpreted; the amazing video shot by Carly of their reunion.  The audience is oohing and awwing and clapping loudly.
“I know, I know. What can I say?” Chris shrugs.  “Dodger’s a pure soul. It was hard.  It was hard.  I was in South Africa and I missed him.  For months. He took it hard but I wasn’t gonna put him in quarantine.”
Jimmy smiles.  “Nah. I get it.  It’s rough. But next just time warn us ok?”  He turns to the camera, all mock serious.   “And Twitter? Jack you listening?  Give this guy 280 characters right now—cuz jeez I don’t think our hearts can handle too short Evans tweets.”
Chris throws back his head and laughs, grabs his pec for a sec, shaking his head, full on going for it as the whole studio cracks up.  “Suuure that’ll work.  I get to word vomit more.”  He mimes grabbing for a barf bag and waves the idea away.  You’re smiling, watching him relax.  Thank heaven.  So far it’s going great.  “No Twitter.. please.  Do not.” He shakes his head and settles back into his seat, beaming a sunshine smile.  “But seriously—it’s all good. When I have to be away, we’ve got a solution for it now.”
Kimmel raises an eyebrow.  “Oh yeah?”
“We adopted a puppy.”
The whole audience in unison goes ‘Awww”  and suddenly Chris is pulling out his phone, flipping through his pictures to show Jimmy one of the two amigos on the lawn,   Dodger sitting tall and puppy flopped at his feet.
He holds the screen facing out toward the seats.  The camera zooms in and out, trying to focus and Jimmy turns to ask the stage manager:  “Can we get that up?  The little fluffball is pretty cute.”
Magically, the picture is caught and appears on the backdrop:  puppy and Dodger beyond life size and so adorable the audience is cooing.  Jimmy nods at the screen.  Chris nods, smiling like the proudest papa at the two of them but then suddenly,  laser like, Jimmy turns back to Chris and picks up on what was said.
“We?”
Chris blushes bright red as a tomato then pales to an unhealthy shade of white.
Standing in the wings, you think “oh shit.”  He’s probably in panic mode; brain berating him for slipping up, worrying all at once what Susan’ll say, and how to talk his way out, and if he’ll fuck up more.
You heart goes out to him.  This is exactly the type of nightmare scenario guaranteed to bring out his anxiety.  You watch him awkwardly cross and recross his legs, stroking his tie down again and stalling for more time.
“A friend”  That’s all he has to say, he doesn’t need to give any more but for some reason he’s biting his lip, fingers tapping on his slacks, agonizing.   This is his least favourite part of the biz but surely Jimmy won’t give him too hard a time?
The silence is getting a little long.  Come on Chris.  You’re an actor.   Just fudge an answer.  You’re pleading in your head and then it comes.
And you almost drop your notes in shock.
“My girlfriend and I.”
An instant giant collective groan emanates from the audience.  Cieto, Jimmy’s band leader, right on cue leads the house band in a mournful dirge. You’re frozen, thinking that at least no one there knows it’s you, as your phone buzzes in your hand.
It’s Susan.  Of course it is.  She watches all his events and you just know she’s madly texting “wtf???”
Jimmy can barely speak for chuckling.
“Folks.  Folks,” he pleads, palms up, getting the hooting of the audience to calm down.  “Oh my god, you heard it here first.  The scoop of the year. Chris Evans is no longer single and the internet is about to break again.”
You’re dying.  Just dying, trying to keep your face straight, head whirling at the implications.  What??!!  Fuck, Chris.   How long before someone finds out it’s you?  Days if you’re lucky and that thought makes your stomach knot.  What will Anthony and Joe say?  How will you handle all the crazies? You’re picturing shit-tons of hate mail, a posse of paparazzi at the gate when you get home and wonder if you can scale the cliff at the bottom of the lawn to drop into Christina Applegate’s backyard next time you have to leave.
Maybe you should leave right now?  Maybe you should get a taxi to your apartment?   Not be seen going back to Laurel Canyon but then what would puppy and Dodger do?
You’re just picturing never dining out again, never jogging on Mulholland, when you notice that Chris, the shit, is grinning like a loon.
What?!
The noise finally subsides.  Jimmy leans over and asks: “How long has it been?”
Chris takes a breath, licks his lips, slouches a little lower and weirdly almost looks relaxed.   Some colour has come back into his cheeks.   “Four months.”
“Four months?  So new!”
“Yeah.  Yeah.  New but feels so right.  It’s like she’s always been there, you know?”
Jimmy’s nodding, says something about that was how it was for him and a shy smile creases Chris’s face.   You’re melting; a little dizzy at the heartfelt words.
It is?   What did he just say?
Your brain has gone from panicked to short circuited: replaying that sentence over and over.  You ignore your phone’s frantic buzzing, miss most of Jimmy’s saying until he asks, curious as a cat.   “How did you keep this secret?”
Chris grins.  “She’s Anthony Russo’s right hand.  Goes almost everywhere that I do with the Avengers movies being made.”
Ok that’s good.  Good. He’s brought it back to the reason that he’s there—press for Infinity War—you think that Jimmy will move on to the debut but then Chris does the unthinkable.
Perhaps he’s still a little flustered or maybe his brain invaded for a moment by the God of Mischief.
He waves his big strong hand toward the right stage wings. “She’s here.”
Oh my fucking god.
A studio camera whips right ‘round but you’re in shock.   You can’t believe it.  Your carefully protected secret.  Held for months.  Friends and family have sworn a pact.  Every little move carefully choreographed and this impetuous goofball has just outed you to the world!
There’s a producer in headset tapping you on the shoulder but you’re shaking your head; turning away and bending over.  Hiding your face in your hands and clutching your clipboard hard, thanking every god you know that you’ve worn a business suit.
(Out of the corner of your eye you can see the feed.  Oh great.  Your ass is on national television.  Hastily you straighten up.)
Over on set Jimmy’s hand is waving lazily at you to come out. The audience is clapping, louder and louder but still you mutely shake your head.
No.  Way.  This is Chris’s thing.  You are not stepping into his limelight. Marvel’s limelight.  Fuck, Kevin Feige is gonna have an aneurysm.
Jimmy, the heartless bastard, is still laughing.  “She’s kinda shy.
“Not really…but,” Chris stutters.  He’s wide-eyed and worrying. Trying to apologize.  “I’m sorry. Sorry.  I didn’t mean…”
He didn’t mean to what?  Implode your world?  Live?  The buzzing in your pocket has gone nuclear.  Your hear Anthony’s dedicated tone and Joe’s.  A few others with no alert and you wonder if it’s his agent Josh and manager Brad, on top of Susan.   Oh god. You’re almost hyperventilating. Will you get fired?  Will you still have a job on Monday morning?  Will your friend Lena who you haven’t told ever speak to you again??
Jimmy looks over anxiously at you and, bless his sensitive soul, gets that this might be a little much.  They cut the feed away and like a pro, he starts to dial it back
“Ok… What’s her name?”
“Y/N.”
“And where did you meet?”
“On the set of Avengers 4.”   Suddenly you’re thinking of Frank Grillo.  Another excitable Marvel guy with Italian parents.  Talks with his hands as if he’s conducting an orchestra but that moment he had nothing on Chris.  The hands you love are almost dancing as he relays Bautista’s accident, excitedly talks about your mutual love of baseball.  It’s adorable and overwhelming.
But still not what Chris is being paid to do.
You think you are about to be in the clear when Jimmy launches his next question.
“And what’s the puppy’s name?”
Chris chuckles and shakes his head.   “About that….”
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~****~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Two events happen in the immediate aftermath.
Puppy’s nameless state becomes a thing. And your previously 250 follower-Twitter feed explodes.
By the time you make it back into his dressing room your name is trending.  Chris holds you anxiously in his arms, apologizing over and over until you have to put your hands across his mouth.
“It’s ok.”
“It’s not.  I’m sorry. I don’t know what came over me.  I don’t.”  He frowns, runs his hands up and down your arms.  He smells of aftershave and the heavy sweet lilies stuffed into a giant crystal vase.  You normally hate their smell but weirdly not in that moment.
“Well I do, but shit.  Y/N, I love you.  I just couldn’t hold it in.”
A giant bloom of hope and happiness races through your chest.  “And I love you.”  You’re crying and laughing all at once. “Chris Evans, you are such a fucking meatball.”
“Yeah. Well I’m your meatball.”
The searing kiss lasts until a panicked Susan, come down in person, knocks upon the door.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Turns out Chris Evans trending for any reason short of murder is good for Marvel too.
The next day you a get bazillion texts from friends, get grilled by Susan and Chris’s agent Josh about your past until Chris is forced to growl, and learn all about block chains out of necessity.  While you and Chris were lying in (naked, oblivious and very occupied) that morning some enterprising hack went to work with Getaway’s employee list and guessed your twitter handle.
Shit.  Lesson learned.
The afternoon is spent fielding calls and messages.  The most precious text you get is from Tara, Chris’s best best friend.  You’ve only met her once, overwhelmed in the giant Evans-Capuano New Years party where you first met his family.  She was lovely but you haven’t really talked.
<Welcome to the crazy whirl—we’ve got your back.>
Wow.   Deep breath.  Guess this means it’s real.
And kind of overwhelming.  Chris is off again in days for the long-planned European opening of Infinity War and you’re at home, doing your job (the long lead in for Avengers 4 post production) and holding down the fort.  This includes taking Dodger and puppy out, and at first you’re nervous, knowing you will be followed, Josh arranges for guards to enforce a breathable perimeter away from the vile, scum-sucking paps.  It works.  Folks get the hint mostly and eventually leave off.
But the fuss over puppy’s nameless state?  That keeps on going….
Chris tweets about the new member family: a hundred thousand responses in the first two minutes. He mentions that puppy has learned to sit and stay and it goes viral.  Your twitter and his are literally inundated with puppy names—yours from friends and his from fans.  Even random peeps on the street get in on the act.
Instead of Miles’ ‘I don’t wike it” being called out to him, people now shout puppy names.
He laughs, and like Steve Rogers, pulls out a small notebook and writes them down.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~****~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This state of ridiculousness lasts for the whole time that he is gone.
Thank heaven you can telework.  Chris’s normally immaculate office is a riot of your stuff but it sure helps.  Puppy is growing so fast, he needs constant supervision.  First he jumps up and gets the car keys off the island; chews them until the car alarm goes off.  Then he slides across the kitchen floor and accidentally knocks the cupboard kick plate out.  A priceless Himalayan poppy is shredded into tiny, forlorn blue bits.  A rather more mundane knitted sock winds up, unraveled, strung between lounging chairs.
You amuse Chris by texting pictures of the contraband.
Puppy’s personality grows just like his paws.  He’s smart and biddable, if anything almost more of a sap than Dodger.  You work on leash training, and sit and stay, endure the inevitable hilarious tabloid pictures of puppy looking confused at the walking park.  He loves to snuggle at your feet but also is more skittish, less confident than Dodger--   easily spooked-- and you suppose this is because the wide world is so big and new. Dodger was a rescue but grew up in a home.  Puppy has spent all his days inside a cage.
It comes out, sometimes, in hilarious and unexpected ways.
One day he shies away from, but then furiously demolishes, an ‘indestructable’ Ovis frisbee.   Another he barks manically at barbeque sauce.  Once he cowers at the sigh of just one trash can. (the other is ok??).  The escape artist comes out when one morning he bolts through the closing electric gate.   A startled photog thinks quick grabs him by the collar  (That is a puppy?  What is he?  Cerebus?)
All this fills your time but still you miss Chris something fierce.  He’s in Rome and Bucharest and Berlin.  Running from event to event. Tired, stressed, and you wish you could be there.
All throughout the puppy name ideas keep coming in.  After Renner instagrams  ”Evans can’t name a dog”  the suggestions come flying thick and fast and then the sneaky snarky shit goes to town—Jeremy puts it in a poll on his private app.  The one he does for fans to interact with him.  Of course you need to follow just to see what’s trending, to tease Chris with the top rated latest idea, and that is how you wind up in your pj’s, enveloped by twenty pounds of puppy and  more of Dodger in the middle of the day when IW has its London premiere. Chris looks amazing in a silvered, deep indigo and mauve silk suit by Ferragamo.  It’s edgy and fun—Mackie’s teases him about it but clothes horse Sebastian approves.
After the red carpet and introductions to the Prince and Princess (only you know how many times he’d practised that perfect bow) they take their seats and you shoot him a text with the latest names.
<How about Cerebus?>
<Thumbs down>
“Bruno?>
<Blah>
<Beethoven>
<He’s not a St Bernard>
There’s a pause.  You wait patiently until the little dots start up again.
<Sry. Chris put popcorn down my shirt>
They are such kids.  Pratt or Hemsworth.  Either could be the culprit.
<Those Renner’s top rated stars?>   This is followed by a barfing face.
You laugh.  <Least it’s not doggymcdogface>
<Shut up>
<Make me>
You’re pretty sure his answer counts as sexting.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~****~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Once Chris gets back he and Susan hatch what they think is a brilliant plan for your proper coming out.
You hate it.
You are terrified.
Ten of days of complicated, exhausting back and forth between the CGI guys and studio pass in a whirl and before you know it the day arrives.  May 3rd.
Infinity War’s New York Premiere.
You both fly out, leave Scott to sit at the house and start down the incredible set that lines the huge red carpet.  Photographers, literally a hundred of them, have come from all over the world for this night. You are shaking like a leaf, beyond nervous as you’ve never been before.  Chris’s stylist had picked out a gorgeous gown; ruched and slim, ice lavender, it’s right on with the latest trend and shows off your height.  (The funky diamond and fluorite necklet Chris surprised you with is worth more than your monthly salary but he insisted.)
“You look beautiful.”  Chris whispers in your ear,  surreptitiously brushing his fingers across your ass.  It makes you flush right as you both walk slowly  past the waiting phalanx.
“Chris! Y/N!  Here. Look here.”
“Chris!  Chris!  Here!”
“How’s puppy?” someone shouts and he answers right away.
“Great! He’s with my little brother.”
“Got a name yet?”
“Nope.”
There’s a ripple of laughter at that.  You stand a little dazed.  Chris holds your hand and  strokes a warm palm across your lower-back and you aren’t sure which of you it calms the most.  You keep expecting Susan’s assistant Joan to touch your elbow, the pre-approved signal to break away, but Chris keeps you there, shakes his head at her and holds you hard.
When Elizabeth and Scarlet sweep up and join him you step quickly back; let them flirt and laugh and answer questions; have a great time joking about how weird it was to work with bearded Cap.  They seem lovely; you know them just a little from the set but you don’t ‘know them’ know them.  Maybe at the after party you’ll get that chance.
Just when you begin frown and wonder if it’s weird you’re just standing there, a hand pulls at your elbow, drags you back to the centre of the throng.
It’s Robert.  Beaming as he wraps you in a hug and plants the biggest kiss on your cheek.  Tucks you at his side while you blush furiously. You know him a little more because you’d worked the Siberia unit set.
“Hey,” he smiles.  “You good?”
“Trying,” you admit and he hugs you hard just as an overly made up woman in thigh high slit gown and sky high heels stalks forward and sticks a microphone in his face.
“Robert!  Robert Downey Junior!  Brooke from E! here.  What do you think about the rave reviews Infinity War is getting?”
He smiles a little wanly, waits for her to acknowledge you and when she doesn’t ignores her question blithely. “Brooke, great to see you.   Have you met Y/N?  One of the best damn producers in the biz.  She’s one of the reasons for those reviews.”
Oh lord, but RDj is like this. Positive, Lovely. And occasionally full of shit.
You are not a producer, you are a second assistant producer. You want to die but settle for digging an elbow in his ribs   (He giggles, but of course Robert has the chutzpah to pull it off).
Miss-self-centred-celebrity-interviewer frowns, plucked brows furrowed into a fairly accurate image of permanent confused surprise.  “Great,” she bullshits and gamely ploughs right on.  “Robert any predictions you want to make?”
She means about fan response.  Folks expect the movie has been hyped but you know,  frame by frame, how great it is.
You smile a little proudly, and glance up at Robert, wondering what he’ll say.  His eyes are hidden by the trademark coloured glasses but something about the stiff set of his jaw says he’s pissed.   By how rude she is.
His answer makes your jaw almost hit the floor.
“Predictions?  Sure.” He looks fondly down at you and then over to the big muscled guy to his right.  “Y/N here will be the best damn thing that ever happened to Chris Evans.”
Wha..?   …?”
Before you can even frame a coherent thought Robert quips “See, look at this. He can’t be away from her for more than a heartbeat.”
It’s true.  Chris has hoped back to grab your hand again and now you are sandwiched between your gorgeous boyfriend and one of Hollywood’s true legendary stars.  You sneak a peek at them both.  They’re happy and grinning and bantering back and forth.
The part of you that isn’t terrified wants to pinch yourself at where you are.
Later, in the theatre’s dark with an epic battle raging overhead, you reflect on how freaky your life has become.  Before it was secrecy and haphazard dates; knees touching under table cloths and walking late in the evening with no one about.  Now it’s sitting next to this amazing man, in public in the middle of the afternoon,  while he squeezes your knee and kisses your palm every chance he gets.   Like a pair of giddy teenagers you whisper to each other, touch and flirt, get shushed by a grinning Scarlet.
It’s amazing and crazy and just like a dream but it gets even crazier the next day when E! magazine runs the  byline “Is this the one?”.  Next to a picture of you, one hand on Chris’s chest, looking up adoringly into his eyes.  He has the softest smile and looks so happy he could burst.
Tara texts  <I sure hope so>
All you can think is when did they take that?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~****~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You fly back to Los Angeles and Chris does Chicago and D.C. but, finally, mid-May he is back home.  Dodger and puppy are overjoyed.  You settle into something of a routine.  Work, workouts, hanging with friends, keeping up on puppy training.  Walking puppy three times a day to keep him happy and just a little less rambunctious.  The world has got used to the idea that you’re a thing so a few less paps haunt the gate.
Puppy by default gets called puppy all the time.
One Saturday morning you are both huddled on the couch indulging a second cappuccino when Chris’s phone rings.  It’s Susan’s tone.  Reluctantly he puts it on speaker phone so he doesn’t have to hold it to his ear.
His lips are kinda occupied, buzzing along your collarbone.
“Hmmm, Suz?  What’s up?”
“A new invitation came in for an event I think that you should do.”
Chris frowns, wondering why this has to be handled now. “When?”
“End of June.”
“Kinda busy with Red Sea opening near then.”
“I know.  But I think you’ll really want to see this one.”  Susan sounds like she is smiling.  Intriguing. Normally she’s so straight-faced, looks more like a poker player with a shitty hand.
“Ok.”  Chris is shrugging as you mime a question.
“I’ll send the car over with the invite.”
Now?  Wow. It obviously is a major deal.
Thirty minutes later the doorbell rings, Dodger and puppy race for the door, stand there with tails wagging while Chris accepts the envelope from Susan’s driver.
He flops back beside you on the couch.  You scoop puppy up, give him a scratch behind both silky ears while Chris runs a fingernail under the flap.
“Holy shit!”
You lean over and peer across his muscled shoulder.  “What is it?”
“An invitation from the Bosox’s owner John Henry himself.”
“To what?” you ask, thinking of his beer-drenched, football weekends with the guys.  This would be a perfect opportunity but you’re the Red Sox’s biggest fan.  Maybe Scott could sit again and you both have a weekend to yourselves?
“Their ‘dog day at Fenway’”
“What?!”  You squeal. “Yes!”  You shake puppy’s paw and his kiss his snout.  “Oh my god little guy you get to see the Green Monster for yourself.”
Chris laughs.  The Green Monster is Fenway Park’s fabled left field wall. The highest in the MLB.   “So long as he doesn’t piddle on it. We’re going to do it then?  Says here they need an answer by Monday.”
You shake your head incredulously at Chris.   “Are you kidding?  Our favourite team?  The most famous field in all of baseball!  Of course we’re doing it!  And besides, our first date was there.  It’s awesome.”
It is.  Dodger, catching some of your excitement, gets all keyed up.  He jumps up and puts his paw on Chris’s knee.  His master gives it a grave shake, purses his lips thoughtfully.  “Hmmm. Maybe we can take a couple days off. Hang with mom and everyone.  Charter a jet to make it easy to fly both these dudes.”
You like that idea.  The only thing dampening your enthusiasm was the thought of putting puppy in an airplane hold.  Chris reaches down and gives Dodger’s head a pat before looking across at you, a slow smile spreading along his lips.  Your soulful boyfriend has saved the best bit for last.
“They want me to throw out the first pitch.  With Dodger and puppy there.”
“Woohoo!!”   That’s it. Pandemonium breaks out.   You’re up and dancing with an excited, yipping ball of fluff in your arms, while Chris grabs Dodger and gets his face washed excitedly.
“We need red ribbons for their collars,” you exclaim, “and to get them groomed and…”
“Whoa.  First things first.   I need to work on my pitch.”
“Oh I can help with that.  I’ve got good hands.”
With a glove you mean, but Chris chuckles mischievously and leans in to catch your lips in his.  “I know. Maybe we should go work on ‘signs’.”
Oh god.  You laugh through the feather softness of his kiss along your jaw, shiver as it presses harder and finds the hollow of your throat.  So good.  Your eyes are starting to glaze over while a perfect liquid heat pools low in your core. Several blissful moments are then lost to making out before the ‘kids’ begin to wriggle.
Puppy’s whining in that way that says he needs to pull up a tree
Reluctantly you break apart and make a face. “Parent time.” Chris sets Dodger down and goes over to the French doors, slides them open and lets both dogs out into the yard.  It’s warm and a little hazy.  You grab your half empty mug and the invitation, sit at the outdoor dining table to read it through.
God this is incredible.  They want Chris to throw out the first pitch and join Mr. Henry in his suite.  Lead the seventh inning stretch and bring you too. You’re named.  Wow.  It’s unbelievable.  You look up at Chris and smile, shielding your eyes from the climbing sun.
He’s stretching out his shoulders, flexing to get out the kinks.   It makes you want to run your hands up underneath his shirt.
Focus Y/N, focus.
You tap your fingernails thoughtfully on the mug.  ‘Fenway.  I still can’t believe it.  Puppy and Dodger going to Fenw…  Wait.  That’s it!”  You sit straight up.  It’s perfect.  How had you never thought of it before?
“What?”   Chris swipes your mug to take a swig, cocks one eyebrow, keeping half an eye on the dogs as they go about their routine.
“Puppyu needs a name.  Before we get to the park. Look.”  You shake the heavy vellum under Chris’s nose.  The Red Sox’s address is in big green lettering at the top.
“Fenway.  It’s the perfect name.”
Chris looks over at the little guy, chasing after Dodger with his tongue lolling out and ears flapping in the wind.  It’s been two whole months since you brought him home. Two months that feel more like two days and have been an amazing ride.
“Fenway.  Dodger and Fenway.  I love it. It so works.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~****~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Epilogue.
From Boston’s NESN-TV feed.   June 27, 2018.  Jerry Remy and Steve Lyons announcing.
“Well folks look at that.  It’s a high looping curve ball, right over the plate and Vasquez nabs it easily. He jogs out to the mound.  Hands it straight to tonight’s special first pitch guest: Chris Evans.  Captain America himself has just thrown out the ball on tonight’s Sox-Tribe game.  A long anticipated matchup that is sure to be a slug fest.”
“You’re right about that Jerry.  The fans, and their pooches, are keyed up for this game on ‘dog day at Fenway’, brought to you by Nutrisource and the Sox’s great management.  37,000 here tonight.  Almost capacity.”
“How many dogs?”
“No official stat on that…but the two cutest gotta be out on there right now.  Dodger and Fenway.  Chris Evans’ and his girlfriend Y/N’s pups.”
“No doubt about it Steve.  They’re both being very good dogs there, standing with Miss Y/N.  Now Mr. Henry and tonight’s managers, Alex Cora and Tito Francona, and the plate umpire come forward to shake Mr Evans’ and Miss Y/N’s hands.  Starting pitcher Drew Pomeranz tips his cap.  We’re just waiting for Mr. Henry to say a few words.”
“Hmm.  There seems to be a bit of a delay.  Can you tell what’s going on?  The big wigs have all stepped back.”
“Not sure. Wait. Oh lordy.  Mr. Evans has gone down on one knee.”
“Yup.  No doubt about it.  Folks we are witnessing history here.  Mr. Evans is holding Miss Y/N’s hand and pulling something out of his pocket.  It’s looks sparkly and suspiciously like a ring. Miss Y/N is nodding her head and those are definitely tears upon her face.”
“What an amazing moment.  The crowd is on its feet.  The whole stadium is pounding from the cheering.  Mr. Evans has now stood up and wow that kiss might just bust our rating.”
“Dang it, Jer, there’s something in my eye.”
“Mine too.  What a phenomenal way to start this series. The organist has struck up ‘It’s a Wonderful World’ and there’s one heck of powerful hug going on down there.”
“Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.
“And gal.”
“Absolutely.  They’re slowly starting to walk off, hand in hand, waving to the crowd and the dogs are trotting along.  A storybook start to a new life.  We wish them every happiness.”
“We sure do.  Look at that. Both dugouts have emptied to salute them.  Nice touch.  Class acts both teams.”
“For sure.  And while the happy couple take a few last waves the infield has filed back to their spots. Pomeranz is scuffing his cleats on the spike cleaner, getting ready for his set up.”
“It’s a beautiful and special night Boston.  Let’s play ball.”
Trigger warnings: Suicide, Self harm
Tumblr media
- Mod Ouma
“Just an average [Boy] [He] always wore a smile [He] was cheerful and happy for a short while”
Shuuichi was your average 5 year old. All sunshine and giggles with a smile that could bring a god to its knees. His parents kind of regretted knowing that this wouldn’t last long with the field of work he inherently would go to work in. The day was bright, his parents played with him not knowing their impending fate and their sons distant fate that would bring them together.
“Now [he's] older Things are getting colder Life's not what [he] thought, [he] wished someone had told [him]”
It wasn’t too long ago that Shuuichi had solved the case that earned him the title of the “Ultimate Detective”. He now stood at the age of 16 while the world around him darkened significantly. He could still remember the glare of the culprit in the case that he solved. It made him feel dirty. Shuuichi thought back to when he was younger, when he didn’t have to deal with the constant pressure of trying to solve a case. Why couldn’t his parents tell him about this before they left?
“[He] told you [he] was down, you let it slip by So from then on [he] kept it on the inside [He] told [himself] [he] was alright But [he] was telling white lies Can't you tell? Look at [his] dull eyes”
He sat at his desk in the far corner of the classroom before a flash of white with hints of purple came bounding up to him. “Saihara! How are you?”. It was Ouma. He was the only one who had really attempted to get close to him since the world began to darken around him.
”Not to good honestly...”
The smaller male grinned and spun around complaining about how terrible his lies were. From that day onwards he kept all his true feeling on the inside.
”How are you today? Sai-ha-ra~?”
He forced the most believable smile he could muster on to his face.
”I’m doing great!”
Oumas smile split ear to ear and he began to walk off to bother someone else.
You lie so much yet you can’t recognize my own lies...
“Tried to stop [himself] from crying almost every night But [he] knew there was no chance of feeling alright.”
The tears cascaded down his already red cheeks. How could no one the  kind of pain he was in?!
“Summer came by, all [he] wore was long sleeves 'Cause those cuts on [his] wrists were bleeding through you see.”
The class had gained permission to go to a near by stream to cool off. Many people had altered their usual outfits to avoid the heat. Kaito had his jacket off, shoes off and his pants rolled up as he kicked around lazily in the stream. Ouma was running around in the stream trying to get people wet. His usual attire was altered as well;  he no longer donned his scarf and his pants were pulled up to his knees while using one of the straps to hold it in place.
However, Shuuichi sat a distance away from the stream, comforted by the shade of the tall  oak tree he was leaning against. Adjusting his arms from the crossed position that they were in, he could feel multiple cuts splitting open on his arm.
There goes another perfectly good white shirt.
At least his sleeves were long enough to cover the blood that seeped through the white - turning red - fabric.
“[He] knew [he] was depressed, didn't want to admit it Didn't think [he] fit it, everyone seemed to miss it [He] carried on like a soldier with a battle wound Bleeding out from every cut [his] body consumed.” “[He] had no friends at school, all alone [he] sat And if someone were to notice [he] would blame the cat But those cuts on [his] wrist, they were no mistake But no one cared enough to save [him] from this self hate.” “Things were going down, never really up And here [he] is now stuck in this stupid rut.”
Shuuichi felt nothing as he glanced at the rope that currently dangled from a beam on the ceiling.
“[He] knew exactly what [he] had to do next Just stand on that chair and tie the rope around [his] neck.”
His fingers moved nimbly as he attempted to tie a secure knot with shaking hands...
“[He] wrote a letter with her hand shaking wild
"Look at me now! Are you proud of your precious [detective]?" But [he] knew that [his] [”friends”] weren't the ones to blame It was the world that should bow down its head in shame.” “[He] stood up on the chair and looked out at the moon Just don't think, it'll all be over soon”
“I’m sorry”
“The chair fell down as [he] took her final breath It's all over, all gone, now [he's] greeting death.”
It’s dark...
“[His friend] walks in, [he] falls down to the floor And now nothing can take back what [he] just saw The [boy] that [he] [loves] is just hanging there [His] body's pale and [his] face is violently bare”
It’s going to be burned into his memory forever. Ouma just knew it. This was never going to leave him; but how could the boy he loves just leave him like that...?
“[He] sees the note and unfolds it with care All [he] does is stare,”  "How can this be fair?" “[He] starts reading as the tears roll down[ his] face.”
"I'm sorry [Ouma] but this world is just not my place I've tried for so long to fix this and fit in I've come to realize this world's full of sin There's nothing for me here, I'm just a waste of space I've got no reason to stay here with this awful race It's a disgrace, I was misplaced Born in the wrong time and in the wrong place It's OK though, 'cause you'll see me soon You'll know when your time has come, just look at the moon As it shines bright throughout the night And remember everyone's facing their own fight But I can't deal with the pain, I'm not a fighter You'll make it through the night, just hug your pillow tighter So let the world know, that I died in vain Because the world around me, is the one to blame And I know in a year, you'll forget I'm gone 'Cause I'm not really something to be dwelled on”
“It’s your fault, it’s your fault...” Oumas head rest against the cool wood of the desk as he mumbled under his breath, the note from a year ago clutched to his chest.
“Hey... whats up with Ouma?  He’s been acting off today.”
“... It’s the year anniversary of Shuuichis death” Quiet conversations holding the same content were whispered behind his back. He payed no mind to them.
“That's what they used to tell me, all those kids at school So I'm going by the law majority rules My presence on this earth is not needed any longer And if anything, I hope this makes you stronger You're the best friend that I ever had Such a shame I had to make you so very sad But just remember that you meant everything to me And to my heart, you're the only one that held the key Now it's time to go, I'm running out of space to write And yes I lost my fight, but please just hold on tight I'm watching over you from the clouds above And sending down the purest and whitest dove”
Ouma stared at the rope that dangled from the ceiling; a very familiar memory flashed before his eyes as a pure white dove landed outside of his window. He climbed the unsteady chair, the doves coos became more frequent and distressed.
“To watch over you, and be my helpful eye”
He swore he could see Shuuichi crying before him, his lips moving to words he couldn’t hear. He glanced at the moon that sat high in the dark sky and let the chair slip..
“So this is it, world, goodbye."
It’s Time For Us To Take A Chance
Pairing: Jeremy Heere/Michael Mell
Words: 1.284
Summary: “Is this really how you want to spend your Sunday morning- talking about our feelings and molesting me?”
Read on AO3 or under the cut
Michael faded into consciousness slowly. He was unusually warm in his bed, and it took him a moment to attribute it to the body that was apparently spooning him. He remembered Jeremy had been over and they had played video games long into the night.
All in all, the spooning wasn’t an unfamiliar situation; Jeremy tended to cling to things in his sleep if given half a chance.
It took him a second to realize Jeremy was probably awake; his arm was thrown over Michael’s side and the hand attached to it was lazily making figure eights on his stomach, running its blunt nails lightly over what he knew were his stretch marks. His flesh tingled in its wake.
Michael was confused, the grogginess from just waking up not helping him to understand. He tried not to change his breathing; this was not normal for them.
Sure they shared a plethora of platonic touches, but this was a couple shades more towards intimate and he wasn’t sure what to do.
He didn’t want to move, in case it spooked Jeremy. He had come to terms with his feeling for Jeremy a long, long time ago but had decided to not act on them.
Still, he was selfish; he wouldn’t pass something like this up if it was going to be offered to him.
As long as he pretended he was still asleep, he could relish this small moment with the object of his affections.
He let himself pretend that things were different. That he and Jeremy were together.
Eventually Jeremy sighed, splaying his hand over his stomach and scootching a little closer to Michael. He spoke, but the words took Michael by surprise so it took him a second to understand.
“Did you change shampoos?”
Michael swallowed heavily; did Jeremy know he was awake this whole time?
If so, why would he continue the soft touching?
Michael was very confused; maybe Jeremy was asking it rhetorically.
Jeremy’s fingers on his stomach wiggled. “Michael, did you change your shampoo?”
“Oh, uh.” he cleared his throat. “The old one reminded me of you… cuz you helped me pick it out.”
Jeremy clutched him closer and rested his forehead against the back of Michael’s head. “I’m sorry.”
“It’s ok.”
“No, it isn’t.”
“Alright, it isn’t.” Michael conceded. “But it will be.”
“Will it? I was,” he paused, trying to find an adequate word, “awful to you.”
Michael rolled over to face him, Jeremy scooting out of the way before crowding back into his space, startling Michael. “Whoa, personal space much?”
Jeremy ignored him, insinuating his leg between Michael’s and tucking hands under his shirt.
Once he had settled, pressed up against Michael, Michael remarked “You comfortable?”
“You’re real, yanno?” Jeremy muttered.
“Not… really?”
Jeremy made a frustrated noise. “You’re the only one who wasn’t squipped... and you won’t ever be.”
Michael smirked and pretended to flip his hair. “Of course I won’t be squipped. I’m too smart and fabulous for that bullshit.”
“More like too smart-ass.” Jeremy quipped.
Michael snorted and pushed at Jeremy’s side. “Is this really how you want to spend your Sunday morning- talking about our feelings and molesting me?”
“You can touch me, too. You should! I mean. If you want to.”
Michael figeted. “Why would I want to?”
Jeremy gave him a very knowing look that made him feel overexposed in his t-shirt and boxers.
He swallowed; was this a challenge? A cruel joke?
But Jeremy wasn’t the type to joke about things like this, and his once idle hands were slowly making patterns against his stomach and chest now.
He hesitantly brought his hands up to the slip of skin that Jeremy’s bunched up shirt revealed.
“Why are you shaking?” Jeremy asked, concerned.
“Would you believe me if I said I don’t know.”
“Well not now that you’ve said that.”
“I don’t know..” Michael told him.
“I don’t believe you.” Jeremy replied, trying to make eye contact. His skin was soft- softer than Michael had expected.
Michael refused to look at him, afraid he’d betray his feelings.
“Oh.” Jeremy got the message anyways. He smiled awkwardly. “I’m sorry it took me so long to realize. I guess I’m just kinda slow on the uptake.”
“Realize what?” He asked uncomfortably
“I just. I didn’t really see you until I could see you again.”
“What? That doesn’t make any sense.”
“After the squip a lot of things became clearer to me. I guess you can see better when you get your head out of your ass.” He laughed sardonically. He shook his head. “Michael. You’re my favorite person.” he told him, as sincerely as possible.
Michael fidgeted again. “Aw, I’m your favowite person?”
“Yes.” Jeremy confirmed, firmly, peering at him. “And I love you.”
Michael recoiled slightly. His brain was sending him alarm noises in place of thoughts.
Jeremy clutched at Michael’s shirt, preventing him from pulling too far away and was probably the only reason he didn’t manage to roll right out of the bed.
“You can’t.”
“I can.”
“No.”
“You can’t tell me who I can and can’t love, Michael.”
“But- but what about Christine?”
“I love Christine, too. But in a different way.”
“So… so you love me. Like a best friend- like a brother?”
“No.” Jeremy frowned as he realized Michael had put a significant amount of space between them, lying on the edge of the bed. He tugged at his arm. “Come closer. It’s not like I’m gonna bite you.”
Michael hesitantly obeyed, scootching closer. He received a smile for his troubles.
The smile turned devious very quickly. “That is, unless you want me to.”
Michael made an exasperated noise.
“Or maybe you’d like to bite me?” Jeremy continued, thoughtfully. “Maybe you have a possessive streak and want to mark me up so everyone knows.”
Michael swallowed heavily, trying very hard to not let Jeremy’s words affect him. “Why are you doing this?” he asked. “Are you making fun of me?”
“No! I’m just…” he hummed thoughtfully. “There isn’t anything to make fun of. I’m just really, really happy that we’re both safe and sound and- and here, in this bed, together.” he was still holding Michael’s arm and he ran a thumb over his wrist, soothingly. “And I love you.” he said, almost in afterthought.
“What do you want from me?” Michael asked, in a small voice.
“Nothing!” Jeremy reassured him. “Well. I’d like it if you stayed with me here for a while. And it’d be nice if we could cuddle more. It’d be really cool if we could make out a bit, but I know I’m not very good at it and we totally don’t have to I’m just saying it’d be nice, yanno?” he shook his head. “I don’t want anything but to be with you, here, in this space for a while, really.”
“You want to make out with me?” Michael felt like he could hear the rushing of the ocean in his ears, distorting his perception.
“Yeah!” Jeremy replied brightly.
Michael narrowed his eyes at him. “And you’re not just saying all of this so you can get laid finally?”
“I would never do that to you.”
“I’m just. Confused. Why me? Why now?”
“I told you- I finally got my shit together and started paying attention to, well, everyone else. You were kinda obvious.”
Michael gave him a disgruntled look. “I was not.”
“You kinda were. Aw don’t give me that grumpy face, it makes me want to kiss you.”
Michael exaggerated his grumpy expression automatically, rising to the challenge. He realized his mistake a second too late as Jeremy scooted closer.
Then again, it wasn’t really a mistake, was it?
Uf bros reacting to their very human very squishy and very friendly crush kinda sorta accidentally joining their gang?(a monster one created to protect their own and best up racists) thank you!
How it Happened:
(You had been working at Grillby’s new bar on the surface for a good two months or so by now. It was enough time at least for you to become rather well acquainted with a couple of the  Elemental’s regulars.
Papyrus was gripping the empty mug in front of him tightly when you finally made your way over to his and Sans’ table with the steaming pot of coffee. Sans was sitting with his head in his hand and the other fiddling nervously with the hem of his shorts bunched around his bony knee. You briefly took note of this with a glance over at the shorter skeleton before smiling warmly at Papyrus. He coughed into his hand and turned away from you slightly, pushing the mg out towards you.
“Hey Papy, how are you today?” You poured his coffee and placed a hand on your hip as you regarded him.
“I AM FINE.”
Sans flitted his eyelights to you and raised a hand lazily in greeting. He seemed even more disheveled than usual, his red hoodie askew and the bags under his eyes (how is that possible again?) were darker than usual.
“sup, doll.”
You rolled your eyes and scoffed at the nickname, still smiling. You didn’t notice how Sans subtly studied the pretty blush that dusted over the bridge of your nose and cheeks.
“Work keeping you out late?”
Papyrus’ knees jerked into the table suddenly knocking over his drink. You jumped startled.
“HOW WOULD YOU KNOW?”
You looked on at the mess exasperated but were taken aback by his sudden abrasive tone.
“Uh…I wouldn’t. You guys just seem tired. Guess that’s why you need the coffee this morning huh-?” it started to drip onto the floor, you sighed “–one sec let me get some paper towels…”
Once you had left again Sans snorted and raised a brow bone at his brother.
“really? smooth bro.”
“SHUT UP SANS.”
 The next day quite a few interesting things happened. Your boss informed you that his establishment would be moving deeper into the downtown area of Ebbott City. Incidentally this was actually much more convenient for you considering how short your commute to work would be now.
What the Flamesman failed to inform you was why you didn’t have to come in on friday evenings.
Or…more like why you shouldn’t come in.
 You had forgotten your purse after your day-shift and didn’t realize until you were all the way home. Then you had to drive all the way back and get it.
The door was locked, which you had been expecting, but Grillby kept a key hidden in the back for the other door. So there was the solution to that problem.
You walked inside, padding through the kitchen quietly in search of your belongings when you heard hushed voices coming from the back room.
Well, curiosity did kill the cat. And of course you had to flippin knock. Who does that?? You were supposed to just be in and out, this was obviously none of your business.
“Hello?”
The voices went silent.
You heard shuffling and a chair scraping against the floor and suddenly the door was swung open in your face. A very scary-looking fish monster towered over you, glowering and seemingly very pissed off.
“GRILLBY!” she shouted, head whipping to face the room again. You caught sight of Sans and Papyrus sitting at the round table in the center of the space and they were both staring at you. Papyrus looked disgruntled and Sans looked rather amused.
“I THOUGHT you said these were FUCKING PRIVATE!”
“LANGUAGE, UNDYNE!!” Papyrus shouted from behind.
The indigo flame stepped into view and looked down at you. He raised an eyebrow at you and gave you what you could only call the “disappointed parent” look.
“I uh, forgot my p-purse…”
Ok so you were kind of super scared right now.
“undyne stop scaring the shit out of her. ‘s not a big deal.” Sans nodded over at you. “sweetheart, step inside and close the door will ya?”
Undyne stepped to the side begrudgingly. You hesitated. Sans noticed (like he always does) and grinned. His gold tooth glinted, standing out against the white of his sharp teeth.
“i won’t bite hun, don’t worry.”
Did he just wink at you.
Sans chuckled as your face tinted a deeper shade of pink.)
How They Feel:
Sans - He’s not too keen on you being thrust into all this madness. You’re too soft for the kind of fighting they have in mind, and he’s genuinely afraid you’re going to get hurt. He’s going to be watching you very closely.
Papyrus - He admires you for the compassion and drive you show when you learn the nature of their cause. (also he thinks its really hot but shhh) he’ll encourage you to let him teach you some combat skills.
