So!YoON! came to Hobi's listening party last year. I was intrigued then (Who is that with the Prince teeshirt?) and even more so now I have seen some of her MVs. What a voice!

Magic Strawberry Sound writes So!YoON! (a.k.a Soyoon or 황소윤) is a singer, a songwriter and a guitarist of Seoul, Korea. In 2016, at the age of 18, So!YoON! formed the band, SE SO NEON (새소년).

Armed with her own unique voice and energetic live performance, and as a front person of SE SO NEON, So!YoON! has turned SE SO NEON into one of the most popular bands among independent music scene of Seoul. Moreover, her first debut EP [Summer Plumage] released in 2017, won the prize of “Rookie of the Year” and “Best Rock Song of The Year” at Korean Music Awards.

After Se So Neon’s world tour in Tokyo, Bangkok, Hong Kong, New York, Toronto, Amsterdam, and Hamburg, she started off her solo work. So!YoON!’s full-length solo debut album was released in May, 2019.

anyway! since I covered the basics in my last post, I’ll be jumping straight into the members I didn’t discuss last time.

Past Members:

Kibum (Kim Kibum)

he doesn’t even look like the same person i’m-

Kibum was a part of the original SuJu lineup in 2005 as a vocalist. In 2006 he began acting, and slowly began focusing on his solo career more and more. He was completely absent from “Sorry, Sorry” promotions and “Bonamana” as well. He left SM and SuJu officially in 2015. He’s in Attack of the Pin Up Boys (a movie starring all 12 of the original SuJu members) as the narrator. He’s a good actor and he’s been in a movie and a drama with my wife Go Ara, so you know he’s got some talent. I personally don’t keep up with him much, so there’s not much I can offer on terms of his personality.

Hangeng/Hankyung (Han Geng)

He was the original leader of Super Junior-M until his departure in 2009. He left after filing a lawsuit claiming SM’s 13 year exclusive contracts were unfair, and also revealed that SM had refused to give him a day off in over two years, resulting in health issues. Hangeng won, but SM filed a appeal and later Hangeng and SM reached ‘mutual agreement’. He was also Heechul’s best friend and he’s a huge sweetheart, please listen to his solo stuff! He hasn’t put out music in three years now, but he has such a nice, calming voice

Super Junior-M Members:

Zhoumi (Zhou Mi)

This precious baby, my SON, is Zhoumi. I know I said before I wouldn’t talk about main or lead positions, but Zhoumi is the main vocalist of Super Junior-M and his voice is so goooooooood. He just dropped a new MV and honestly I love him so much, his solo stuff is amazing, I want to squish him He’s so close with his members and it honestly fuels me in life. He’s also the only fully Chinese member in Super Junior-M.

Henry (Henry Lau)

I honestly debated putting him here or in past members, since Henry left SM in April of 2018 and effectively left Super Junior-M. The maknae of Super Junior-M, Henry is also a undercover comedian in his own right. He’s got so many funny moment compilations I don’t know where to begin. He’s also close friends with Mark Lee from NCT. Henry is honestly one of the funniest idols I’ve ever witnessed, and his solo music is full of bops. He’s also an amazing violinist and is even the “mysterious violinist” in SuJu’s “Don’t Don” MV! Members on Hiatus:

Kangin (Kim Youngwoon)

The “dad” of SuJu, he’s been on hiatus since 2016, when he committed his second DUI (the first being in 2009). He’s also had the police called on him and some say he assaulted his girlfriend, but the official report says the woman did not press charges and it was simply an argument. 

He loves his members, and he’s truly a great singer (pls give him more lines when he comes back). He’s amazing and I hope he learns his lesson and is able to return to the group soon.

Sungmin (Lee Sungmin)

The cutest not-makne around! Sungmin has been on hiatus since 2015, when he got married. When SuJu announced their plans to return, ELFs protested again his presence in the group and he issued an apology and said he wouldn’t be joining SuJu when PLAY came out. if y’all pull the same shit again i will hunt you down and throw hands. He’s honestly just so cute, this gif is ruining me as we speak

Kyuhyun (Cho Kyuhyun)

oh boy. oh no. you guys opened the floodgates. a whole can of loving kyuhyun is ready to be served. i spent forever even just looking for a gif for this

Kyuhyun, the forever maknae of SuJu. I’m pretty sure he has the voice of a Greek god, and you can quote me on that. He’s incredibly dorky and sweet and just??? His smile owns my entire heart. He is the softest man alive and his hair is so fluffy! I love it!!! He’s so cute! and evil His hiatus is set to end May 24th, 2019, when he returns from military service. He’s also earned himself the title of “ballad king”. He’s called “vicious tongue”, but he loves his members and hopefully his return from the military will convince SM to bring OT11 back together again.

A reality TV show that showcased SuJu and aired in 2017. I can’t find a reliable source that has all the episodes, but I’m sure you can find them around on YouTube with a little searching.

4Minute + Hyuna: I honestly think Cube screwed them over by making Hate their do-or-die album? (Remember there was this rumor, kinda confirmed when they disbanded, that their “next” [at the time] album had to do well or Cube was gonna give them the axe? Yeahhhh) The MV was not good at all, like my casual friends cringe at the MV [you want to appease casual fans and hardcore fans alike] and I did too tbh…. and the song just wasn’t that great. It had BangBangBang’s issues when it came to overall song’s sound vs chorus sound but in a way that inhibited its success (so arguably it had the same issues, but worse). I think someo f their music was hit or miss but ofc Miss “Crazy” was a hit !!!  I think they could have done without the braids because… I mean they just didn’t add anything. It was off. Every black person feels differently about nonblack folks wearing black diaspora-heavy braids, but *for me* I’m fine with it IF the subject’s hair was done WELL, the subject looks good in them, and the look actually adds something or enhances something in the theme or video. Like…. do the hair justice, you know? Don’t just make it some random prop. They didn’t do that for me, so I’m just :/ about it

I think Cube focused too much on Hyuna and not enough on the other members … like take the fact that I don’t listen to 1D at *all* but I know the members’ names. I heard a few things from 4M way back but I could not name the members apart from Hyuna and that’s a problem. Similar issue with 2NE1 (CL; disbanded) and Miss A (Suzy; disbanded). Hmm it’s almost like there is a trend here!! And I don’t mean the person they focused on in each scenario is *bad* to focus on or a bad artist (definitely not in all those cases!); I mean they just flat out ignored the rest of the group pretty much :/ that’s not a sustainable business model for a group on the company’s part. You can’t just rely on the one person to carry the group! Destiny’s child even fell apart because of that nonsense stop it!

4minute was underestimated from beginning to end. They competed with 2NE1 and SNSD in the same promotion cycle (in 2014) and actually beat both of them for a music show win and that genuinely surprised everyone! It shouldn’t have!

BTS:

I liked their earlier stuff better than the vast majority of their recent stuff. However, Wings was a s o l i d album and I LOVE how each member got to have his own song. That should be more of a thing in kpop albums. BS&T is their best song so far, Wings is their best album. DNA was meh and so was their most recent one. I got excited about their collabs with Aoki and Desiigner but ultimately I was just .. .kinda confused when listening erwoijkfls

I don’t get the obsession with BTS not sounding hip hop ? Cypher pt 1-3 were amazing, 2Kool4Skool was amazing, hip Hop Phile was amazing, please I’m tired of the western Pop Lite sound that some of their songs give me make it Stop thanks

I think this isn’t unpopular but . Hormone War wasn’t a great song D: However! Boy In Luv was a banger and I’m right and I should say it. Let it love you! Just One Day is underappreciated too. 

Okay nitty gritty. My God when will BTS start scolding their fans when they pull bullshit. Didn’t stand up for Cupcakke at all, never stand up for anyone ARMYs go after on a whim, never tell them to stop doing the nonsense they do on Twitter even though they Obviously See And Hear About It. It’s gotten to the point where people who I know don’t listen to kpop have criticized them for it and I’m like ?!?!?! when you gonna do something !!! Bighit probably doesn’t want them to do so but honestly fuck BigHit they don’t wanna debut another girl group just because of the wack shit some Glam members pulled. And BigHit is too dependent on  BTS for income. BTS *is* BigHit. It’s insane!! Enough!!! BigHit needs to branch out with more artists (especially girls thanks!) and they need to start saying something when ARMYs go en masse attacking individuals and groups on Twitter! And elsewhere! 

Back to some songs before I end this, because this post is long given that I’m talking about two groups: people really need to stop saying certain songs are ~for the whites~ it’s so. annoying. Fire isn’t for the whites it is MY song I’m holding it captive, y’all can’t have it if you’re going to slander it this way. Fire is decent let it live. What Am I To You and Never Mind are also the two best intros; House of Cards and Wings are the best Outros. hmmmm oh and! Lie is a goooooooood fucking song. Not Today was … ehhhh it’s doable. I guess I can… do something with the hype in that song. But it was overhyped. Same with Cypher pt 4. Lost was surprisingly underhyped. Deserves lots of praise.

2!3! is probably the BTS song that makes me the most emotional. And its location at the end of the album, after going through all the members’ songs, made it that much more impactful. Probably one of their best songs.

To close: Jin needs more lines, and Jintro should happen. Jin is hyper neglected in BTS and that needs to End. It does.

A little (fun) fact on how I fell for that boi (dean):

During Lee Hayi's Seoulite promotion, I've been jamming through her songs and watching every single video of her I find on youtube cuz boi I missed this gurl because it's so rare that they let her out of the dungeon amd promote 😣 and so I came across a certain vid and was reading through comments and one of it mentioned dean and him being involved in her album...at that time I only heard of the name dean a few times and I saw that cover of him and hayi of Baby by Winner which I really loved. I also tried watching his D(half moon) mv but just a few seconds from it I stopped watching hahaha because first of all I felt that it's not gonna be good (for me) cus I saw the boi's face..and boi! He sure is good looking haha and he gave that fboy aura(sorry, that's just my first impression of him✌) and I've purposely been avoiding very good looking artist idk why haha probably because there's so many of them and i don't what to suffer (if u know what I mean haha) so I just choose the very talented ones, like the "raw" ones, or those who make their own music..idk that's just me lol...so going back, I felt like he's just another pretty boy "idol"? Idk how to explain that haha so yeah and that's why I AVOIDED him for my own good. Lol

It was a comment of someone shipping(lol) my baby Hayi with him saying that his song "21" (which I haven't listened to at that time yet) was kinda like written for hayi (u know how shipper are)

So there, I looked for the song 21 on youtube and sadly no MV 😣 but I manage to find one with a pic of him that I actually stared at for the rest of the song haha (which made it even clearer for me that the boi surely is goooooooood looking haha) but I tried my best not to fall for that cuz I'm not a weak gurl and I'm not gonna fall for him! (HA look who's talking now 😅) so as I was listening I'm also reading the english translation and BOOM! That's the end of me 😂 I became delulu myself haha cuz the song hit me so hard and I relate to it at such point where I feel connected to the song and ofcourse my delulu brain tells me that it matches me cuz I was 21 that time and an angelic voice is wooing me and I'm trying to resist him cuz I know he's gonna break my heart lol but I failed. In short I listened to the song repeatedly that day and the other.days to come to the point that I forgot about lee hi (lol oops!) And then I tried searching for his other songs and finding "pour up" didn't help me get over him and there my folks is the day I fell for Mr. Kwon Hyuk.

In all honesty I try not to like him for his looks. I know he's good looking and he is exactly MY TYPE! The one that I've been trying to avoid. Lol but the more I get to know him (through live and interviews, the more I relate to him and the more I fell for him..I know u guys can relate uhuh)

ok so i went to odaiba and tried to get into the small event tomorrow in roppongi for bts but i wasn’t about to drop over $100 on albums. so i didn’t get in but i bought 4 albums and OMG THE MV IS SO STINKING GOOOOOOOOOD. 

i used the lottery number to register for the individual meeting in hopes that the odds would be better bc today wasn’t the “official” release date and hopefully not as many people have bought the albums as they will tomorrow. (bc they announce individual member every day/group hi touch once a week). (even though they had release events in shibuya and odaiba today lmfao)

but yeah im stressed and broke and can’t believe im so obsessed with these boys lololol. pls pray for me to get the individual member handshake!!! im thinking of going to shibuya tomorrow to buy some albums to apply for the group hi touch...
