🦊Fei Xiao

-Shes definitely fascinated by how unique your eyes look, I mean sure some Xianzhou folks have unique eye colors but your eyes that look like they hold the galaxy in them now that's something she could stare into daily

-Fei Xiao will definitely introduce you to Jiaoqiu and Moze. And you bet she'll always bring up how beautiful your eyes are well everything about you is beautiful but your eyes stand out the most

-Fei Xiao will do anything to see your eyes light up. Compliment you? Of course she doesn't mind. Train with you? She is on her way. Maybe even sparring with her? Gladly plus she gets the bonus of seeing the passion burning in your eyes

-Speaking about compliments I feel like Fei Xiao would say something along the lines of "You're my world and I mean it quite literally you have a whole galaxy in your eyes."

-This will get worse when she is drunk and her words start to slur. There may even be occurrences where either Jing Yuan, Jiaoqiu or Moze may have to witness such occurrences as they bring her back to your shared house and see Fei Xiao saying extremely cheesy compliments about you which makes the average person cringe

-All in all sure your eyes are unique but Fei Xiao finds all of your unique

🧬Ruan Mei:

-As someone who wishes to understand lifeforms well she's seen many eyes of different lifeforms but no lifeform has eyes as interesting as you

-She tries to recreate your eyes with her experiments such as the cat cakes but the cat cakes eyes just aren't like yours a whole galaxy

-If you ever want that cat cake she'll gladly let you take it since well its a mini you sort of

-Whenever she spends time locked up in her lab and needs some new inspiration she may just go to you and look at your eyes. Something about your eyes may give her ideas. Maybe the various sparkles and twinkles in them.

-Ruan Mei who in her journey of understanding lifeforms doesn't seem to grasp the understanding of your eyes and why she gets lost in those eyes for yours. It's as if your eyes hold the whole galaxy in them that she could get lost it

-Every once in a while she may be doing some embroidery work and may embroider your eye color in her work after all it is quite a sight

-She will have difficulty expressing her emotions and compliments are rare from her but you can tell she's definitely somewhere between fascinated and amazed by your eyes since she looks a little more intent into your eyes as compared to when she's with other people. But be patient with her as time goes on who knows.

Note: Thank you for reading! I finally decided to write about two of my favorite female characters in HSR, I really love Ruan Mei a lot esp since her release. Really wishing that she'll achieve her goal of becoming an aeon. Hopefully sometime in the future I'll have a firmer grasp on these two characters and write more for them.

it's important to note that he's the eldest son of a CEO, so he'd have all the money and status to keep your mysterious disappearance under wraps. just listen to him and you'll be fine. after all, isn't he your oshi?

Imagine being such a dedicated fan, always using most of your paychecks to purchase merch and albums and even concert tickets. You adore him. He shines so brightly when he's on the stage, and his voice is the most beautiful melody you've ever heard. You memorize all of his songs, you try to follow his routines for exercise and eating well, and you've even had the blessing of attending one of his handshake events!! Even if it was only a few seconds, being able to look him in the eyes, shake his hand, and greet him in such an intimate proximity meant the world to you. You were so happy following that day that your coworkers were left wondering what happened for you to come to work in such a bubbly mood.

Unbeknownst to you, your idol makes it a mission to search for you amidst the crowd, even if he knows it may be impossible to spot you from afar. The day he shook your hand was also a special moment for him. He's only ever watched you from the shadows, admiring you as you go about your daily life, so being able to touch you, to see you so closely, to hear your voice as it addresses him and only him... You make him so happy and you don't even know it! One of his songs was even written with you in mind. You inspire him, you give him life, you give him feelings he's never known he was capable of feeling before. He's hopelessly, dangerously in love with you, his fan, and you're hopelessly, adoringly in love with him, your idol.

Scara doesn't shine so brightly behind closed doors when he's following the whims of his obsession. On the stage, he's Scaramouche, a star who can effortlessly charm with his beautiful vocals and sweet smile. He's a great actor, enthralling the crowd with a wink or a twirl or well-calculated sarcasm. Fans adore it. They love the divide between sweet and sour, and he does both so flawlessly. But beyond that, he's just Kunikuzushi, eldest son of the business magnate Ei. With so much wealth and success, one would think he'd be in paradise. But Kuni's always so hollow inside, so lonely and sad. He pushes these feelings away and tells himself he's better off alone, but when he's following you home late at night he feels so whole. Suddenly his lonely life doesn't feel so terrible when he knows you're in it. Suddenly he thinks it's okay to be alone as long as he's alone with you and only you.

Ei never polices what he does. It's much the same for his sister Raiden. They're free to do as they please, as she's too busy running such a large, expansive business with her Vice President Yae Miko and secretary Kujou Sara to bother with the lives of her children. But Kuni doesn't care. He doesn't need to be coddled or loved. He just needs to drown in you, in your life, in your interests and hobbies. He's certain that, if he were to steal you away for himself, you wouldn't mind it because you're his fan. You'll forgive him because you love and support him, won't you? After all, it's every fan's dream to be recognized by their idol.

He won't subject you to a terrible life either. He lives in a very expensive penthouse on the highest floor, and it has all kinds of luxurious, comforts. It overlooks the city; he's almost like a god when he peers down at the streets below, where people are free to look up but can never reach his level. You can live up here with him, isolated from the world and its horrors, and only know of him. He's all you'll need because he can provide for you in ways normal people can't. He's so certain you'll accept this way of life, and even if you don't it's not like you can go anywhere. Not that he cares much for reputations, but his entire career will shatter if you escape and try to get him in trouble. He might even be taken away from you, and that's more scary than a reputation in shambles.

Besides, he has more money than he knows what to do with. And for the right price, he can control anyone, even the authorities you seem to have so much faith in. :)

This blew up on DeviantArt pretty fast, so I decided to post it here. Anyway, I made this with Fotor. I was inspired by "Oshi no Ko" and this came to be when Lisia revealed she wanted to make an idol unit with Serena. Follow that up with May's cameo and Dawn's beautiful lunar-themed dress, and this came to be.

Cerulean Starlight is a 5 page doc featuring sections for general info, appearance, personality, connections, backstory, and a lot of space for any extra info. Hi so sorry if this is strange but I’ve been rping on tumblr for years and I’ve been in indie for awhile but I’m just dipping my toes into anime rp, and I just wanna know if you could offer some insight on what’s acceptable? If I can’t draw (but wanna rp as ocs) is using like, the AI generator (bing character creation for example) for concept art/ocs acceptable in the community? Or using other anime fc from different shows/mangas as an oc in a different series? Maybe not using icons but creating a Pinterest board with concept art as inspiration? I’m just trying to figure this thing out.

oh uhm, hello nonny. welcome to the anime side of tumblr rp. i must not have seen this bc i was at work, but should you ever see this i hope the following helps you.

well for one, using icons is totally up to you. there are many many anime rp blogs that dont use icons when they rp ( take my friends @koseigu & @avichor who have beautiful writing and imaginations that require no icons to express the character's emotions and such). i know back when things first began icons were such a huge thing but im glad people are more focused in the writing vs aesthetically pleasing icons (ignore mine im using here its a personal choice <3).

as for writing oc's in the anime rp space, i will let you know you may have a VERY difficult time getting interactions. personally, i love interacting with peoples ocs, always have and always will, but getting others in on your lore will be a shitton of work but very worth it when you find people who will love your oc just as much as you do. just please dont let getting few/little interactions bog you down or make you quit writing ever. for seeing ocs on my dash like @weepingmoonlight @maidmyth & @quietlyblooms on my dash and interacting with other and thriving is always a win for the RPC

now to address the questions you do have up there (sorry for the side tracking and long windedness), personally i dont really know if using ai art is a big thing? i dont think many people would like you using ai art but??? i dunno for a oc. i see why you would if you cant draw and getting commissions are costly these days. there are many resources available for icons if you ever want to use a characters likeness. generally people dont mind this, like say you have an oc and ai hoshino from oshi no ko is the perfect face claim, people tend to accept this more than ai art (i assume but do take with a grain of salt.) pinterest boards are a HUGE thing in the rpc! i highly encourage you to make and have one for everything regarding getting to know your oc.

i will say tho, i dont personally rp oc's myself as i tend to take canon characters and stuff so my advice might not be the best sounding, but i hope this helps and if any of my other moots has any advice they can add on to the replies to help out i encourage this and also please correct me if im wrong about anything! and once again welcome to the anime rpc nonnie <3

Behind the Curtain is so tremendously beautiful that I'm listening to it on loop (along with the opening of Oshi no Ko 🤣) and I noticed an interesting thing: the style of Alice Twisted Toon reminds me a lot of the toon style of Jessica Rabbit was taken as a reference point for the style mixed with 3D by chance 😍?

Thank you very much! Yep - Jessica Rabbit was a HUGE influence on the Angel's personality in Behind the Curtain. I actually talked about her inspirations and the development of her character in a previous episode of my Off the Cuff series!

Her personality and role in the story were crafted to be a proper lady by @kaleidraws, playing the part of the only character capable of calling Henry to pay attention to and deal with what he'd been ignoring for 30 years. I had a lot of fun learning how to animate her in 2D, and while she may have only been in two or three 3D animated shots, there was a lot of subtlety that went into her model's design as well, including that veeeery slight shift in expression at the end!! Ewa did a fantastic job creating her model, and our 3D animation team did an equally fantastic job bringing her to life.

Part 1

Y/n is a famous 20 y/o idol in Hyrule, well-known for her natural charima and appeal. Tired of her busy schedule, she embarks on a vacation to the far lands of the Hebra Region in a calmed village called Rito Village. What may the village offer to the young idol? She wants nothing but day off of her idol life.

A/N: This fanfic talks about idols as in Japanese Culture. The reader is inspired by Ai Hoshino, from Oshi no Ko, again it's inspired, it isn't her full personality just took some glimpses of it. Enjoy!

I stand in the dark, eyes closed.

I hear the staff running around. Asking each other questions.

"Got the speakers on?" "Yes, sir" "Lights and screens ready" "Are the costume changes here?" "All set!"

I can hear an audience going wild above us.

I take a breath in, filling my lungs with air, and steadily blow it out.

I hear my band members talking.

"Everyone got their in-ears ready?" 

"Last monitors check-up, testing 1,2, 1,2,3"

"1,2, testing, all check!"

"Girls, I'm about to open your mics, so stay in silence" Someone said to our in-ears.

'This is it' 

"Girls, in pose... we are gonna lift the platform in 3...2...1.." the platform slowly uplifts itself,

My nerves building up as I feel it ascending under my feet. 

I sense very bright lights slowly covering my whole body, from the top of my head til all the way to my feet.

Gradually the audience's screams becoming louder as we ascend.

Opening my six-pointed star eyes, I'm welcomed by a sea of lights and a crowd of energetic shouts and screams.

"ZORA'S DOMAIN! ARE YOU READY?!?!" I shout with so much light and radiance in my eyes.

Idols...

Idol, by definition is a someone who's highly loved, admired and respected by others.

 An idol, is a type of entertainer, whose image is produced to attract and lure dedicated fans to support them.

I'm (Y/n)(L/n) and as some of you may've guessed, I'm an idol.

My career started when I was 17 y/o, debuting in an idol group called Aether.

3 years have passed since my debut, I'm currently 20. 

My role in the group is being the center and the main vocalist, not to brag, but I'm also an incredible dancer.

In the years I've dedicated myself as an idol, I've been acknowledged and praised by plenty, earning titles such as: "Aether's absolute ace", "Shining Rookie", "The Unshakable center", "The beauty of Hyrule", the list goes on.

But the most notorious one is, "The Star-eyed Idol", as a result of the six-pointed star eyes I was born with.

This last year, I received lots of calls and job offers like modeling for local clothes stores, Mcing events and competitions, invited as special guest to big talent shows, and more.

With my popularity boosting, my manager decided to start promoting me as a solo artist and make myself a name out of Aether, I began releasing solo albums and singles, whilst continuing with the group's activities, like rehearsals, concerts, producing song and writing lyrics, etc. 

Thankfully, my band members were really supporting in the matter and motivate me to keep going. Nowadays, I'm a popular soloist, I became way more popular than when I was only in Aether, however, I promote the group in every chance I get, and we've become successful.

Currently, I'm planning some vacations for myself, in need of a well-deserved break after these prosperous years.

What I wasn't expecting, was for a conceited, prideful Rito to cross my path and change my whole vacation's plan...

...

I sigh, removing my stage costume to change to my casual clothing. 

'Finally, another successful tour concluded, Zora's Domain surely was wild, though the sunset's on Lurelin Village were breathtaking' I tiredly smile.

'We traveled across almost all of Hyrule, I'm exhausted, ...even so, it was fun' I hang my costume in a closet.

'Tomorrow I'll start packing for my trip, it's the perfect place for an idol to rest without worrying about fans' I fall to my bed and smile at the ceiling.

'I can't wait to be there.....

...Rito Village'

'I choose this destination specifically for it's isolated location and serene environment' I get up of my bed and watched out the window.

'Hyrule Castle Town it's a bustling place, always crowded everywhere you look; Can't walk 1 block before people surround me asking for autographs' I sit at the edge and lean my forehead on the window.

I sigh, 'This also applies to towns like Zora's Domain, Lurenlin Village, Kakariko, Hateno and Gerudo Town, I guess that's the prize of fame...'  

'Sometimes I wished I could've a normal life... go outside without being stalked, ...befriend anyone for real friendship and not for convenience, ...hang around with friends all day, ...date who ever I liked, truly fall in love with a guy, ...do what ever I please and not being judged by the public eyes, ...stop pretending when I'm not fine...' I shake my head, don't want those thoughts get the better of me.

'Good thing that rule doesn't apply in Rito Village' I grin at a memory.

Flashback to a fan-sign:

"it's nothing personal really," a Rito fan said.

"It just takes a lot for some of us to acknowledge new ideas out of the village, specially when it comes to archery and singing- but your music is great and you've a beautiful voice (y/n)!" the fan said.

My eyes-widen due to the news.

"So that's the reason why I don't see any Ritos in my events *does thinking pose and pouts* mmmm well, that's fair. Thanks for the information, you're the best!" I sweetly make a heart with my hands hence receiving a flustered reaction of him.

The poor Rito nearly had a heart attack by my gesture, he squawked out of excitement...

End of flashback:

The Rito are known for it's prideful demeanor, close-minded creatures when it comes to archery and singing. Distinguised by their unique and wonderful voices along with their outstanding superior archery skills, of course, they'll hardly believe anyone could be better than them.

I'm impressed I've managed to make few fans from this tribe. It is rare to see a Rito at our concerts, I could easily count the times I've meet with a Rito fan with my fingers... and it's 3 times!

But oh well, I'm grateful for now I can enjoy some sweetie vacations at their village. :)

*timeskip to Rito Village*

Rito Village welcomes me with the scent of fresh wood and damp earth, the sound of the wind whistling and leaves rustling filled my ears.

A clear blue painted the sky above me with no clouds at sight.

From a far distance, a mechanical giant bird beast seems to be resting at the top of the giant rock pillar on the center of the village. 

My mind-blown by the impressive sight of the mechanical beast.

'That must be the Divine Beast everyone was been gossiping about!' My mouth-agape at it.

Walking into Rito Village, with it's cozy huts, wood bridges and giant rock pillars, I'm amazed by the view.

'It's just like a fairytale, how I wish my band members were here!' I look around in astonishment.

Everything would've felt perfect, if it wasn't for my assigned Rito escort who was being escorting me all the way from Hyrule Castle Town. 

My plan of attracting unnecessary attention to keep a low-profile going straigh to the sewer. RUINED!

'JUST GREAT! >:/'  I grumble .

My manager insisted, would dare say, almost begged. Being awared it was for my well-being and safety, I agreed. 

'An escort a day keeps the stalker away, (Y/n)...' their words keep repeating in my mind.

Flashback to Hyrule Castle Town: 

"It'll just be on your way to the village and once you comeback" They announce it.

"Inside the village, you'll be free to do whatever pleases you without the escort's supervision, the village is well guarded so you won't have to worry about stalkers, but do keep this in mind..." They grab my shoulders.

"Stay out of trouble. Your reputation and image is at play, this could be your only chance to show the Rito what you're built up with" They look at me directly to my star eyes.

"I ain't a big fan of you going on vacation's by yourself, but I can't deny you a break after all these years" They look down at the floor.

 "And please take care of yourself! my! MY-..." They raise their head.

 "MY SHINING LITTLE STAR! WAH-!' My manager throws theirselves to my arms, they were almost crying.

'Sheesh, they're so dramatic' I sweatdropped as I patted their backs, "There, there, I'm gonna be fine, okay? I promise to stay out of trouble" I try to calm down their ugly crying.

End of flashback:

'Tss, I already miss their dramatic ass' I smile to myself.

My footsteps clunking across the creaky wood floors of the village. Side-eyeing my escort, I glance at his stoic face, I'm surprised he've managed to keep that face since my depart. He's been awfully quiet too, not that I mind, I appreaciate silence.

I believe, he was well-trained for the duty; just as I was trained to perform for long periods of hours and keep up a smile despite the tiredness. Anyways, He's doing a great job!

I secretly send a soft smile his way.

I gaze down to my outfit, which consists of a black coat with a white shirt underneat.

 An ankle-length dark turquoise skirt with black ankle boots.

With my hair styled in a half-pony tail along with a black bow and a black cap resting in my head. Final touch, some lucid (favorite color) sunglasses. (A/n: change the outfit if u want, tho we got the drip on point, this the outfit Ai wears in the 'Idol' MV, I pretty liked it)

'Maybe, I was a little harsh towards the idea of an escort, I am enjoying his company, he's a calm guy' I continue sight-seeing the village with a beaming smile on my face.

3rd POV:

Soaring throughout the bright skies of Rito Village, an indigo Rito guards his home village.

The pride of the rito, Revali.

The rays of sunlight gently touching his feathers, whilst the wind currents embrace his body.

With hawk-eyed vision, the Rito insights for any suspicious behavior around of the village.

Suprinsingly, it was one of those days the indigo Rito would train until afternoon, preferably taking care of his commitments with the village first.

Flying around the giant rock pillar, his eyes quickly catch up a new traveler in the village, behind the traveler, one of the village's warrior following closely behind her.

Intrigued, he approaches the scene diving straightly at them. Landing in a intimidating way, he slowly stands up and puffs out his chest.

As he landed, he slowly stands up, his chest puffing out.

"Hello there" He greets with cockyness.

The traveler's caugh off guard by his sudden entrance.

"You're not from around here, would you care to explain your visit to Rito Village?" He looks at her from head to toe with a distrust gaze.

"If you haven't heard, we're at war with the Yiga Clan, you could be a spy for all I know" He slightly threaten her.

'Straight-forward, huh? Right to the grain, a Karen on my first day, how splendid'  She thought in irony.

'Mm, he stands with overconfidence, definitely gives me arrogant guy vibes' she analizes him in seconds.

'I've heard rumors about elite warriors for each tribe in Hyrule, known for excelling in their respective tribes with their talent and unique skills, ....I wonder if he might be..Nah, no way, I'm already annoyed by his attitude' I sweatdrop at my thoughts.

'Let's play a little with the birdie~'

She fake gasps.

"Oh! Please forgive me Sir, I didn't meant to look suspicious, I'm a mere humble traveler" She says convincingly with a hint of tease.

Raising his feathered-hand in defense, Revali's ready to argue back when..

"Sir, may I speak with you.." the escort glances at the girl.

 ...in private?"

Lowering his hand, he turns to the escort and they walk a few meters away from the girl.

Confused, Revali listens what he has to say.

"I was not informed about the reason this girl needing an escort, but for all I know, is that's she's a very influencial young lady across big mayority of Hyrule and requires special protection to keep off stalkers " The escort states in a low voice for only Revali to hear.

"Hmmm...a very important girl, you say? I can't say I'm entirely convinced, but I'm interested in hearing more" he replies lowly to the escort.

Turning around, he approaches her and Revali asks.

"What is your name, girl? What is so special about you?" 

'Something about him makes me trust him with my little secret, he seems to be some sort of leader or general of the rito warriors' I thought.

"Huh? I guess, it's only natural for you not to know me, but I must admit, out of Rito Village, anyone in Hyrule would be surprised at my presence by now" takes her sunglasses off.

Revealing a pair of shiny (eye color) orbs with a six-pointed star in each of her eyes.

Revali is taken aback, eyes slightly widening yet opted to remain stoic.

"I'm an idol, you see, that's what's so special about me, Sir~" She charismatically winks and does a peace sign.

The escort let out a small gasp, moved by her charisma while by the other hand, Revali stands deadpan.

"You're an idol? Hmm, okay then..." Revali takes a step back.

"So, what exactly brings you to Rito Village? If you're an idol, where's your fans? Where's your crew?" Revali cross his feathered-arms.

He hates to admit, he feels frighten yet drawn to the girl's eyes, like they're slowly mesmerizing him.

Noticing the indigo rito's gaze at her, she puts her sunglasses on and replies.

"I've come to clear my mind off my busy schedule. A vacation to be more precise, just look at this place" she turns around and spreads her arms.

"Isn't it majestic?! Why wouldn't anyone come visit this beautiful and aesthetic village?" she brightly replies.

 "And about my fans" Turns to glare at Revali, bringing her index finger to her lips.

"They don't know I'm here, planning on keeping a low-profile" rests her hands behind her back.

"And regarding my crew, they know about my whereabouts, but insisted on assigning me an escort for mere caution, keeps stalkers away, you know?" she charmingly nods at the escort with a cheeky smile, gaining a shy smile from him, completely forgetting his professionalism as a warrior.

Revali is left stun by the girl's influence on his warrior.

Sending him a threatening side-eye, the escort quickly composes himself.

"Interesting. A vacation...Well, I'm glad you've had the chance to...uh...rejuvenify yourself...here in Rito Village" Revali continues.

"But I'll need you to understand" His voice becomes serious.

"That this village is under my protection, now and forever" In a slow intimidating pace approaches her.

"Any suspicious or threatening travelers will be detained and questioned. No strangers are allowed on the divine beast, either" Raises his finger in a strict demeanor as he stops once he's in front of her.

"If you think for one second you're special enough to be given a free pass...think again. You'll go through the same procedure as everyone else. Got it?" He harshly looks down at her.

Standing as straight as possible, she happily salutes him.

 "Yes, Sir!" playing fool of his threats on purpose.

".....very good" Revali looks at the escort.

"She seems harmless, but I'm not taking any chances. Why don't you show her where she'll be staying for the night?" he says.

"Yes, Sir!" the escort salutes him with respect, earning an approvable nod from Revali.

"Make sure she doesn't access the Divine Beast. Don't take your eyes off her. You don't want to be in my bad books, do you?" Revali commands.

"No, Sir!" the escort exclaimed. 

A cough interrupts the two ritos,

"Ahem, I hope, I don't sound rude, but how could I possibly fly all the way up to the divine beast, if i don't have any wings?" she shrugs with a small mischievous grin on her lips.

'Wasn't it obvious, bird brains?' she thought.

The 2 ritos are hit hard with realization, both their eyes widening.

"Well, I may not be a scholar, but that sounds like a logical statement to me" Revali plays smart to hide his embarrasment.

"However, the King's instructions are clear. Not a single stranger is to enter that divine beast. I'm afraid you just can't be trusted" he defenses.

"Now, I suggest you finish escorting this girl to her room" Revali gives a firm look to the escort.

"And you, girl" he points at her.

"Don't even think about trying to fool around" he warns with a stern gaze.

"Understand?" he instructs both with authoritarian demeanor.

"Yes, Sir!" the escorts yells and proceeds to turn on his heels to escort the girl to the Village's Inn.

Feeling someone's eyes on him, Revali turns his head and notices (Y/n) stayed behind, glaring directly at him, a faint glimpse of amazement in her bright eyes.

"And you..." he says.

"I have my eyes on you..." He turns and begins walking away.

 Glacing back over his shoulder, his stare locks on her.

"Better keep your nose clean, girl " he threatens her slightly.

Chuckling softly, she joyfully replies.

"Worry not Sir! I wash this pretty face every morning and night, my nose won't get dirty" she jokes with an mocking humor.

"..." Unamused by her joke, Revali stands deadpan for a moment.

Looking at her with disapproval and irritation, he rolls his eyes and continues walking across the village.

Chuckling at his behavior, she turns on her heels and catches up with her escort.

coached by her mom but was one of those "naturally gifted" youths so it was usually just some tweaking to the script that was done

an absolute icon and star in the entertainment world until everything came crashing down around her

minyoung pin points 2 potential moments when things started to shift for her: 1) her dad having an affair and leaving the family behind to pursue his lover abroad & 2) her younger sibling's birth (wanted connection plug)

keep in mind when these two events happened she still hadn't even reached her double digit age bracket yet

but regardless, she was kicked into high gear work wise but with everything going wrong around her and being unable to properly process any of it, her acting started to slip and she wasn't doing as great as she used to

ofc lots of gossip calling her a flop, public opinion was kinda ready to shift against her and leave her behind for other rising stars.......her mom was having none of it

rather than comforting minyoung she just pushed her harder and the coaching was becoming strict (for lack of a better word). minyoung just going through the motions at that point

but she hated that she'd gone from praised and adored to pitied and ridiculed so she decided to go big for her last project

everyone expected it to flop which was why the director reluctantly let her onto the project after her mom pretty much begged for it and what would you know, miae gave a performance of a lifetime

and then she quit acting

after minyoung continued to throw tantrums over how she refused to act again, eventually her mom gave up and turned to the younger child

she initially felt bad as the elder child and almost gave in to her mother's demands to keep the pressure off of her younger sibling (since she knew all too well how heavy those expectations were) but when she saw them thriving and adored by their mother in ways that she never was, she grew resentful and withdrew to herself

eventually they would leave her behind to further pursue the younger sibling's career in the states and minyoung was left to take care of herself (i'd say this was around her second or third year of hs?)

now years later, her acting funds have reached a standstill, and she's a ticket taker at haesmuli cinema!!!!

Idol Nova! I'm so proud of this piece it took me soooo long. I drew this back in May and the original sketch is actually on pencil. My best pieces tend to be the ones I sketch on paper, take a picture of, and then import into my drawing program... hand-eye coordination is hard without a screen tablet.

I was inspired by Oshi no Ko and also karaoke! I have two versions because I couldn't decide on the pupil style I wanted (Starry eyes are how I originally drew Nova but I like the solid white people because it looks more wolf like to me 😭😭😭 so I'm like why not both LOL. I think around here is when I learned a secret filter hack to make pieces have better lighting too! :)

Some of these, like Trigun, Paranoia Agent, and Wolf's Rain, are older anime that the fairly young r/anime crowd might not have watched. Others, like Bungou Stray Dogs, Black Butler, and Natsume Yuujinchou, are targeted at or primarily appeal to a female audience, and the mostly male users of r/anime might not be interested. And some, like Sailor Moon, Princess Tutu, and Ouran, fall into both categories.

It's also worth mentioning that there are a few anime on the above list, like Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Digimon, and the Ghibli films, that are very popular outside of anime fan circles. I think this comes down to the differing structures of Reddit and Tumblr. My survey may have left my target audience a bit, in a way a Reddit survey probably couldn't.

Something that sticks out to me is that this list skews very new. Whereas the anime that were on Tumblr's list but not Reddit's come from many different eras, almost all of the anime on Reddit's list but not Tumblr's started in the 2010s or later. Only 9 of the 44 anime on this list began airing before then, compared to 24/44 for the Tumblr list. Once again, this is probably because r/anime's userbase is on average younger than Tumblr's.

Looking at this list made me come to a terrifying conclusion - we might be getting out-yuri'd by Reddit. I'm looking at the r/anime list, and looking at the Tumblr list, and realising that there's a fair amount more yuri on the r/anime list. The flip side of this is that the r/anime list's yuri is mostly in the 75-100 range, with even Utena only placing at #87 and Revue Starlight at #84. Still, we cannot allow a yuri gap, we need our strongest yuri soldiers on the job immediately.

This leaves us with 54 anime that the two lists have in common. Slightly more than half. Honestly more than I was expecting, I suppose there's more overlap than I initially thought. Of course, even if an anime is on both lists, it may have done significantly better on one, like how Monogatari just barely scraped onto the Tumblr list but came eighth on the Reddit list. But I won't go into too much detail on that, I've spent quite enough time writing a post that was meant to be "a few quick notes", lol

The obvious next question is "which list is better", but I'm not going to answer that. I'm just gonna post this and see what you all think.

I made a new friend recently who had watched very little TV growing up so I had to explain to him why TV was so important to me—Roxi shares these feelings as well. I had a hard time making friends when I was a kid—I was quiet, I was different, and I dealt with social anxiety. I also went through some trauma and abuse as a teenager (not from my family) that I struggled to deal with. But TV was my constant companion—my friend. It not only kept me company, but it inspired me, lifted me up, made me think, made me cry, and encouraged me. And it still continues to do so. Star Trek has always been a source of hope for the future. Buffy the Vampire Slayer gave me courage through some difficult times, even Sherlock Holmes showed me that it was okay to be different. And I am not sure if I would have become a mystery writer without Murder She Wrote—she inspired me to keep going and not give up. It was such a thrill to me when I got to know one of the screenwriters from the show Tom Sawyer and he even sent me a signed script. TV and books also provided a needed escape—I can’t imagine my life without either of them. I think they also made me a better storyteller. Some may be surprised to know that entertainment has always helped people find hope, inspiration, and escape. During World War II, Fred Astaire and Bing Crosby, among others, provided a much-needed escape through their light and happy musicals. During the lockdown and earlier parts of the pandemic, entertainment kept the whole world going by providing escape, hope, and joy. Performers went above and beyond by doing free virtual events of all kinds to help us through this and book sales went through the roof. Even Sir Patrick Stewart read Shakespeare on social media. Some of the new entertainment I discovered in the last few years that I have put in my latest book, One of You, are manga and anime. I knew they existed and had seen some Studio Ghibli movies, but that was about it. But early on in the pandemic, my oldest child introduced me to some amazing anime shows, and that in turn encouraged me to give manga another try. There is some amazing storytelling in anime and manga and much of the artwork is stunning. Some of my finds that fit well in the mystery genre include Moriarty the Patriot (a retelling of the Holmes story from Moriarty’s perspective), Spy Family (this one is just darling), Death Note, and Oshi no Ko (both combine mystery with the supernatural). One of You takes place during a mystery event at Halloween with several mystery authors as guests and one of them happens to be a manga author who has just gotten a contract to turn her books into anime. We have also begun reviewing manga in my online magazine Kings River Life this year. Another passion of mine that I brought into this new series, is my love of King Arthur. The sense of honor that the knights have appeals to Roxi. She comes from a Mafia family, although her parents were never directly involved as far as she knows, and she likens the sense of honor the Mafia at least used to have, to that in the King Arthur stories. She also has a replica of Excalibur and knows how to use it. The world of Camelot brings Roxi comfort as well. It was her father who introduced her to that world when he took her to see the musical Camelot and gave her a copy of The Once and Future King. Her parents died in a car crash when she was a teenager and these things help her feel close to her father. Whenever I wonder if I am doing anything in this world that truly matters, I remind myself of how important entertainment in all forms is. If my books can make someone smile, laugh, think, or cry—or give them a fun escape to a world different from theirs, that is the best feeling in the world and perhaps helps pay it forward a bit for all that entertainment has given for me.
