🌟OC Tag Game🌟
thank you to @greypetrel for tagging me to do this!! had to give it some thought but we got there in the end (albeit not entirely coherant). it's mostly dragon age, but I wanted to sprinkle in some other oc's in there too :3
tags will be under the cut at the bottom
Favourite OC: I talk about Mori'na the most and that's because she's probably my top girl right now. She is always invading my thoughts, consumes them you might say. She was one I made when I played Dragon Age after a long time of not playing, and she's constantly evolving. I just think she's neat.
Newest OC: Cyra's probably the newest newest, and I haven't completely figured her out yet. Have to get one good pt with her and then continue to build off from there. She's definitely different from a lot of the other OC's I make and I think that's exciting. Get some variety, ya know?
Oldest OC: Uhhhh I don't think you want to know my oldest OC. I'm not about to share my preteen writing or characters haha I guess the oldest OC I have that isn't dragon age related is from an original work that I want to go back to one day. His name was Adam (I'm probably going to change it) and I was really excited to tell not just his story but the overall story. He was from a Nano year! I was very close to making it to 50k but petered out near the end because I couldn't figure out certain chapters for the life of me. One of these days I'll pick him back up. He was very sweet, loved photography, and the classic trope of having a dead parent :)
If you want Dragon Age, my very first character was an Aeducan! I can't remember her name for the life of me (I made her when I was like 13 so forgive my foggy memory) but I remember her mabari's name was Dum (pronounced doom bc I thought it sounded cute). She romanced Alistair (what's new?) and was pretty nice just because I hated playing mean characters back then. I still do sometimes haha I'm thinking of bringing her back but she's going to make very different choices than my original pt. I want her to be the warden in my Cyra worldstate.
Meanest OC: Could swing either way depending on the sort of mean you want to refer to. Ashari is mean in a very blunt way, doesn't have much room for small talk and will insult you to your face. But she's also fiercly protective of the ones she loves and is where you'll see the most venom if you plan on hurting them. She's very much like this video around her friends and family depending, and some people can translate it to being mean.
If you want calculative, cut you right at the core mean, Cyra. She may come off as kind with the whole Andraste visage, but she knows right where to strike. She will find your deepest weakness and exploit it like no other. She's a very ruthless judge, but thinks she's doing it in the name of justice. I think I have a pin on her pinterest board that says "Divine Violence" and pretty much sums up how she rules. She knows how to play the game. (she's not all mean though, don't worry 😅)
Softest OC: For the most part I want to say Mori'na, she's a soft person in some regards, has soft qualities, but I also don't want people to think that's all she is. She's a complex elf that has a lot going on, but she's definitely a flower crown wearer.
Most Aloof/Standoffish OC: As referenced above, Ashari's deifnitely one standoffish OC but I don't think the most. Blunt, doesn't like small talk, but she's also rather emotional (my very angry daughter) so she's not entirely aloof.
Bohean is pretty aloof, he's definitely got a cold demeanor and doesn't let his emotions show (only Mori'na can read him really). He's very duty driven and finds that letting emotions get in the way isn't ideal (conceal don't feel.....I don't like that movie). Being a mage and the First definitely plays into it.
Dumbest (affectionate) OC: They are all dumb, in their own ways. Everyone makes dumb choices. It's only natural. I guess in kind of original original character, I had an OC named Hattie Dunn (she was from a tlou rp LOL but I devved her outside of it for a bit as well). Everytime I think about her I'm just like, girl. Make better choices. What are you doing? Stop brooding, go talk to Car. Stop it *spritz w/ water*
Dragon Age wise they're all dumb, there's no helping it. They all make some dumb decisions along the way, they gotta for me to make an interesting story lol I guess Faye can be slotted in the dumb category just for pining reasons. Not the best at reading people or the room sometimes. They don't care in the beginning since they're only trying to make coin for the most part. Feelings are where the real dumb comes out. Will wax poetic about a person in their necromicon and write songs about them in their free time, but actually telling the person? Flirting maybe, but a flustered mess when it gets serious.
Smartest OC: Mori'na is very smart, practicaly and being able to read people (for the most part, emotions can get in the way sometimes, don't question it). Knows every known plant under the sun and can relay facts about it in five seconds. Can immedietly know if one is poisonus or not. Has a good memory, never forgets. Which is never good for someone she holds a grudge against you fucked up wolfie. I think she's able to read people better just because she has a healthy mother relationship lol
OC I'd Probably Be Friends With: I can see myself being friends with the main Dragon Age three. Cyra's too much of a wine mom. Mori'na I would enjoy listening to about plants and we could have a nice chat, but also not have to talk at all. Could sit in silence and do our own things but enjoy one another's company. Faye is very extroverted, and I'd probably just let them do their own thing while I observe. Great movie buddy tbh, lot of joking during movie nights. Ashari I would hype up, talk about murdering her capitalist pig boss and I'd just say "yes girl, you tear that man apart". I think she could be good to joke around with, because she does have a bit of a sarcastic side but she says it with the exact same blunt articulation that you can never tell if she's being serious or not.

hey so uh, it's 110% Not Your Job, but can i ask for like a crash course on these chinese bl series that are everywhere around me but i don't know them. like i'm familiar with the untamed or however many names it has but i'm seeing two or three more???? help please if you can thank you
hello!! oh no worries, i happened to be looking for a distraction too so this was timely hahaha although it’s a pretty broad question since there are so many new live adaptations coming out (and some which have already come out which are featured as bromances), but let me see if I can like round this up for you a little.Â
*i may be giving you a bit more than you need or like irrelevant stuff, but i guess i’m bound to hit something hahaha
Okay so the chinese BL series you’re talking about is The Untamed, and since you said you’re familiar I won’t get into it in detail, BUT just for like flow’s sake:
The Untamed (Chen Qing Ling) is based on the danmei (BL) novel written by MXTX, called Mo Dao Zu Shi (and yes however many like English translations to this title there is), or MDZS for short. You watched the live-action, and there’s like a lot of other versions of it e.g. the anime, the chibi anime, audio dramas etc. etc. the list goes on. In case you still haven’t seen any of those, just glance through this masterpost made by @the-social-recluse - In any case, right now everything is sort of already out EXCEPT:
MDZSQ - chibi donghua, cutest shit you’ll ever see
More MDZS merchÂ
Some teasers from MDZS mobile game which has been one year and developing
Now moving on to other BL series floating around so frequently - MDZS is the second book that MXTX wrote. So there’s SVSSS (The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving-System), which is also called lovingly by others in the fandom by Scumbag System/Villain in short, this is MXTX’s first danmei novel. Right now if you’ve seen this on Tumblr, it’s the anime (donghua) version - 10 episodes only for Season 1, available on WeTV with subs, finished airing like a few weeks ago. Translations of the novel are definitely out in full somewhere.
An absolute mess, but an organized one
Tried to do a manhua but failed
Everyone thought the donghua wouldn’t air on time either (it has a history of dropping development halfway) but it did
Would probably be the most entertaining if ever dealt with a live-action
And then there’s arguably, the most beloved child out of all three novels (at least right this moment) - TGCF (Tian Guan Ci Fu, or Heaven Official’s Blessing). This is the third and so far last (???) danmei novel MXTX has written, main pairing invented love. Strawhat-wearing scrap collector smiley angel with devoted kid-turned-adult-turned-ghost-king who follows smiley angel for like many years because he loves him. Anyway, if you’re seeing this, once again on Tumblr a lot, it’s the donghua version you’re seeing. Still airing, I think we’re midway through the whole season, the yelling starts Saturday (Asia time zone) and then extends into Sunday, sometimes Monday.
There’s like a god-tier Eng translation in full for TGCF by Suika
There is a manhua for this as well, only like 45 chapters in, but the time Jan/Feb 2021 rolls around, the donghua would have overtaken the manhua progress on the storyline HAHAHA
Apparently the director/production team who did CQL/The Untamed managed to get the rights to filming its live-action, but heh nothing much about that just yet aside from casting rumours and fans worrying that the casting will be done wrongly and also that they won’t be able to do justice to the story.
Alright now that we’ve more or less cleared MXTX and what everyone is hyping over (for good reason), let’s move on to the other CHINESE BL stuff you could be seeing (although I feel like you might not actually be asking about this), and these will all be live-actions (I’m also only clearing SOME of this year’s stuff, so none from before 2020, don’t ask me why I didn’t leave Guardian or SCI up here):
✨✨✨ Already aired, done and dusted or maybe ongoing, just ones I see on my dash and notifs so I definitely am biased ✨✨✨
The Sleuth of Ming Dynasty (Cheng Hua’s Fourteenth Year) - Many episodes, much bromance, base novel is gay af, but live action is cute af. Read more here and full translation is not yet done I think
My Roommate is a Detective - THIS IS A SPECIAL MENTION. NOT BL. Doesn’t even have like a book to go along with it, it’s just I’ve seen people getting into this again and creating content, so idk, imma just leave this here. It ain’t BL but it got the most glaring BL-esque relationship I’ve ever seen in my life. You’ll get what I mean if you watch it
The Lost Tomb Reboot - AGAIN another special mention, because many handsome young-ish men who you know, head into tombs, much bromance. Based on a huge series of novels, totally not BL, but as always with like a lot of men put into one story, ships happen. This year as well, in case you’ve seen it floating around
✨✨✨ Upcoming Chinese BL live-action adaptations, confirmed + casting + filming. You may have seen some of these because like posters were recently released etc. - As far as I know these are all slated for 2021 ✨✨✨
Faraway Wanderers (Tian Ya Ke) - A danmei novel by Priest, filming wrapped up, should be airing soon. Leads are pretty cute, although I’m sure they’ll turn this bromance. One of the male leads is known for a lot of period web dramas, and Gong Jun, the other male lead, is known for more contemporary modern dramas, but damn Gong Jun’s jawline
Winner is King (Sha Po Lang) - Another danmei novel by Priest, filming wrapped up recently as well if I recall? Posters recently released, and this is arguably Priest’s most famous and popular danmei
Immortality (Hao Yi Xing) - A super popular danmei novel called 2ha or The White Husky and His White Cat Shizun by Meat Bun. Filming also... wrapped? I think, because posters came out the next day and everyone from Earth to Pluto went mad, definitely one you should look out for next year spring i think, but I’m pretty sure there’s gonna be a hell lot more teasers, posters etc. coming up and then half of danmei Tumblr will probably go into cardiac arrest
The Society of Four Leaves (Zhang Gong An) - Ehhhh I think this hasn’t yet been filmed but casting was recently confirmed (contentiously). Concept posters are up though. This technically isn’t classified officially as a BL. There are no CPs officially in the novel, but apparently it’s very like idk flirty etc., also slated for next year
*There are a few more by Priest, e.g. Liu Yao, but no concrete news that I’ve seen (by now like at least 60% of her danmeis either have a live-action contract or a donghua contract or both lmao)
✨✨✨  Upcoming Chinese BL donghua adaptations (2021-ish). All by Priest✨✨✨
*Throwing this in just as a by the way thing, because these are also recent news (these two weeks). There might be more but I haven’t seen anything yet personally :D
Imperfection (Can Ci PIn) - Space AU, the novel won like two national literary awards if I recall like last year? Anyway a brief trailer recently came out last week I think, and main lead is handsome af, and once again it’s space and space wars so it’s pretty cool
Silent Reading (Mo Du Zhe) - Novel is called Mo Du, and honestly I think the donghua has been like teasing fans for like idk years, but it looks like we’re finally getting to the donghua as the team previewed the first ep like... two weeks ago live to an audience? Modern crime thriller thing, there’s a masterpost going on Tumblr
Lie Huo Jiao Chou - Another Priest fan favourite, a historical + modern danmei combination. Much angst from what I’ve seen, but donghua teaser looked good also, released also last week
---
anyway hopefully some part of this or at least one part answers your question? if not, just send me another ask or like, DM me hahahaha

Music Review 01 W.A.S.P. Sister Sadie, and the PMRC
Hey, my name is KinguDiamundo, you can call me whatever you want really, if there’s thing I enjoy it’s music. I’m passionate about it, and I want to share my passion with others, don’t get me wrong I am not the first person or the last or even the best, but ya know I just want to get better at writing and sharing my love for music. So today I have decided to post my fist song review/recommendation. Obviously there will be biases, this is my own interpretation of the song and that doesn’t mean it’s the correct interpretation, and I’m writing this on a whim so let’s just do this.
The fist song I would like to discuss is the 2004 W.A.S.P. classic Sister Sadie (And the Black Habbits.). Now most of you are probably wondering who the fuck is W.A.S.P. I understand and some of you are probably thinking wait you mean the guys behind Animal(f**k like a beast.) Yes that W.A.S.P.
A bit of a history lesson for those out of the loop in 1985 a group known as the PMRC was founded by four women concerned with the ever increasing depiction of explicit material in music. As the story goes Tipper Gore wife of Senator and later Vice President and presidential candidate Al Gore purchased the album Purple Rain and upon hearing the song Darling Nikki she became upset at the song’s sexual nature.(Ignoring the fact that it was an album to an R rated film and the lyrics were on the back.) She along with 3 other concerned mothers decided to form a group known as the Parents Music Resource Center (PMRC) they originally wanted a set warning labels to label specific content within music with different potentially offensive categories including S for Sexual, V for Violence, L for Language, D for Drugs and Alcohol use, and the strangest of all O for Occult. (This was mid Satanic Panic which will probably come up in other reviews.) They compiled a list of songs to specifically target as examples of the moral degradation of music the infamous Filthy Fifteen, safe to say the only time when a Cindy Lauper song is in the same list as a Venom song. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLN2mqx4KJHLyYTHhD0K885u5iNJQci6vE I was able to find a YouTube playlist for the Filthy 15 if you want to checkout an important part of music history. One of those songs is W.A.S.P.’s cheesy 1984 glam metal classic Animal(Fuck like a Beast). It’s fun, catchy has a great hook and generally a song I listen too when working out.
Unfortunately a lot of people only focus on W.A.S.P.’s early career with the self titled album, Animal(Fuck like a Beast), and The Last Command. Which is good but admittedly trashy like McDonald’s chicken nuggets if you will. Not exactly a healthy or well balanced or super deep meal. However with the release of the 1989 album the Headless Children things start to change and the band begins to become more mature, but the big album that means a lot to me and is probably my favorite album is the 1992 classic concept album The Crimson Idol. An album I promise to review when the time comes. (When I have more experience.) But the song I want to talk about is off the 2004 concept album The Neon God: part 1 -The Rise, a story of an orphan boy named Jesse who’s mother abandoned him at the age of eight, and is now cared for at The Sisters of Mercy Boys Home This information is covered in the first three songs all of which are good on their own but with the song Sister Sadie it sets up the dark tone for the rest of the album. Now warning to those faint of heart you should probably just go now, mostly because of the depictions of sexual abuse in the song.
The song starts off as a slow burn with the guitar and drums and for a 7 minute song the lyrics don’t start till about a minute in, starting to build a sense of dread within the listener knowing that the energy is going to get intense. However this subverted with a more consistent drum track and guitar work that extends to the first two verses. Almost as if Jesse is trying his hardest not to let show that it affects almost as if that if he doesn’t acknowledge what’s happening he can live with it.
[Sister Sadie to Jesse]
Strip off your things
And bow to your queen
And cleanse the sins of your life
Get on your knees
Gonna beg and bleed
No one hears you - you belong to me
Reaper of your sorrow's seed
Black habits tonight
Your only sin
Was coming into Sadie's life
[Jesse to Sister Sadie]
Sister of No Mercy please
I'm praying to die
Can I cleanse my orphan sins
And save my soul tonight - when
But ultimately the pain will make Jesse desperate and the emotions are released wth the chorus and the music.
[Chorus]
I don't believe
I don't believe
In a God of love
I won't deceive
I don't conceive at all
I don't believe
I don't believe
In a God above
I don't believe
I won't receive no more
Desperation and fear are what are characterized by almost all of Jesse’s verses wanting the pain and suffering to end, praying for death begging and pleading for Sadie to stop so his sins may be cleansed. Eventually becoming almost hopeless when it comes to the chorus realizing his prayers are not being answered. Almost making it seem as though god condones what Sadie is doing, while as Sadie’s verses are either commands, justification, or taunts. The mos the most sickening verse for me is Sadie using her own abuse as an excuse to abuse Jesse. Which is a common example in the cycle of abuse.
[Sister Sadie to Jessie]
What I do to thee
Is what was done to me
Sins of the fathers lives
And do you feel
There's a God for real
Ooh your only God is me
[Jesse to Sister Sadie]
Reaper of my sorrow's seed
And my screams in the night
My only sin was coming into Sadie's life
Sister of No Mercy please
I'm praying to die
Can I cleanse my orphan sins
And save my soul tonight - when
[Chorus]
I don't believe
I don't believe
In a God of love
I won't deceive
I don't conceive at all
I don't believe
I don't believe
In a God above
I don't believe
I won't receive no more
[Chorus II]
I'm fucked for life
Blind and tied nobody sees
I'm fucked for life
I'm the child no mother needs
I'm fucked for life
The cries of night for all Sadie's needs
I'm fucked for life
I'm the child nobody sees
Jesse now begins to have feelings of worthlessness abandonment. Like he is invisible and underserving of attention which breeds anger and resentment justifiably, but his torment is not over.
[Sister Sadie to Jesse]
Oh you, I'll make you think you're dying
This room cleansing time again
I'll take you to this House of Sorrows
I'll break your Neon Heart of sin
After this verse it’s a minute and seven seconds guitar solo that express a torrent of emotion followed by chanting to gain the attention of the listener leading to the final verse.
[Jesse to Sister Sadie]
Oh are you mad
I'm going fast
Habits in black
No coming back
No Mercy me
This Hell is real
Why me ya see
She's here killing me
This is for the fist time Jesse begins to accept his persona as the Neon God as a way to get others to notice him so that he can never be used by Sadie or anyone like Sadie ever again and the songs ends on a repeat of the first chorus and the intro riff of the song to symbolize the cycle of abuse.
I genuinely think W.A.S.P. does not get enough credit for the genius of their work lyrics as well as the guitarmenship and genral catchy ness. Like this song is genuinely amazing and I wish more people would listen to W.A.S.P.’s later material.
