Abt the part I use the word "painful", i was talking abt that if the reason behind the gf mention was revealed to be just a way of trying to "shut up" that "gay theories" it would be painful bc we know is a thing that happens in some medias. I know is just a reaaally low possibility, but I wanted to mention that too bc we know it happens in some stories.

I mentioned that possibility bc I really like jwcc queer rep but I always try to remind myself that it's still a show so they're not immune to censure and bad stuff that happen in this kinda of media. I remind myself this so it's not that painful if happens, that is way I used that word, but I do know it isn't that probable in jwct case! Totally agree that the subtext thing is really subjective, so I was talking more abt the fact that the ppl in production probably knows that fans see a lot a "gay subtext" on him than saying that I think that the subtext is canon. I never had a headcanon for Ben through, my whole anxiety was just bc of knowing all this context and not knowing if the whole gf reveal will go to a chill thing or not.

i hear you on being fearful about censorship 😭 even if you knew about the production of the show and the people involved with it (which ... it's not like i have some sort of intimate understanding of everything that goes on, i just follow a lot of the team members on social media ^_^;) i think that's a valid thing to be scared of. media has made a lot of progress in terms of queer rep in the last decade, especially in the realm of animated TV shows primarily aimed towards kids/families, but that doesn't mean artists don't still have to fight for the inclusion of that rep. i wasn't super into she-ra, but i do vaguely remember its creator ND stevenson talking about how much he had to negotiate with dreamworks just to make catradora a thing (if someone can find me a source on that that would be incredibly appreciated), and that was as recently as 2020 (if we're measuring by when SPOP's final season aired). that was the same year JWCC premiered, and two years before yasammy would be made official. a lot of doors had to be opened to allow JWCC/CT to be as gay as it is, basically, and that status isn't always going to be guaranteed.

but if i can ease your mind any further: JWCC S5 received a lot of backlash online, and even one of JWCT's early access IMDB clips drew scrutiny from anti-woke conservative types because it dared to portray a diverse cast of characters. that didn't stop a large portion of the crew from digging their heels in and defending their show, though! plus, yasammy are still together, and JWCT shows no signs of rolling back on their queer rep for the sake of appeasing a certain group of people.

so, to go back to ben having a girlfriend ... i very much doubt that such a choice was made out of malice, or to "shut up" any theories about him being gay (generally speaking or in the "i, as a man, exclusively like other men" way). but like you said yourself, there was already a veryyyyy low possibility of that happening.

What was your first fic and could you stand to reread it today? My first fanfic was a Harry Potter fanfic I wrote in 3rd grade from the POV of James Potter going to Hogwarts (I had read books 1-6 in 2nd grade). I thought I was a genius for this because I had no idea fanfic was already a real thing.

What’s your most recent fic and how far do you think you’ve come? My most recent fic was "Riptide", answered for a kiss prompt. I've come very far! I wrote a bit of fanfic throughout high school years ago but didn't get heavy back into it until 4 years ago, during the height of the pandemic.

In your opinion, what’s your best fic? Honestly can't judge this. I have my most kudosed fic, but it definitely isn't my best. I think I would have pick one of my shorter Miguel/Chico fics, or else one of my longer rongzhi fics.

In your opinion and without looking at any numbers, what’s your most popular fic? It would have to be one of my HxH fics. I wrote a series for it in high school or college (idr). The show had seen a resurgence in popularity at the time, I think, because it was around when the remake anime was released on Netflix. I think it must be "We Who Have the Souls" that is my most kudosed fic.

Is there any fic that makes you super happy to reread and remember you wrote that? Off the top of my head: "For Nothing Tender About it" (MiguelChico), "At Rise" (M/C), "Exit Wound" (Sui Zhou/Wan Tong), and "A Dying Eye" (Ding Rong/Wang Zhi)... I've been re-reading a lot of my shorter fics lately. I really like "Alibi" lately...

Is there any fic that makes you super embarrassed to reread and remember you wrote that? Probably if I reread one of the ones I orphaned or one of the ones I wrote in my early days which only exists on a thumb drive now lol.

Have you ever written a fic for a concept you know someone else has done before? How did it impact your writing process or feelings after posting? I don't think so? Not if 'concept' means 'same plot premise'. Yeah, no, I don't think so. There are some stories where something necessarily has to be written to cross canon point A to B to get to where you want to be in the fanfic, but… no? Maybe "Collision Course"? I wrote the in the car talking concept originally as what was going to be a remix of @/merelyafigment's tumblr snippet.

Have you ever written a fic and decided never to publish it? Why? I write really trashy smut and wattpad level indulgence in my notes app as a fun activity before bed sometimes. But those are never really meant to be published, though they're there for me to steal bits and pieces from for actual fics. Actually, a good chunk of "For Nothing Tender About It" and "Countdown" and probably smaller portions of some other fics I'm forgetting came from that notes app. Sometimes I'll read back stuff and be like "hey, that's actually not that bad" and polish it up, chop off the trashier bits, and then turn it into a oneshot.

What’s the biggest change between your style when you started in fandom and today? I'm a better writer? Lol. Idk, punctuation, probably. I used to write X-men fic exclusively (the comics) so I had a horrible habit of writing out accents (think Gambit, Rogue, Wolverine, etc). I've shaken off a lot of that style, though I still like capturing some of a character's voice.

What’s the biggest change in your taste between when you started in fandom and today? I don't think I had much taste in the past… There was a point where I was very undiscerning about what I read.

In your opinion, what’s your most overrated fic? One of my most kudosed fic (496 wtf, just checked) is a Glenn/Daryl fic for the Walking Dead. It's not particularly good. But the fandom is big, I guess, so even rarepairs thrive there.

I would point to any number of my Miguel/Chico fics, except that all eyes looking for that pair at a given time have likely already read the fic, so it wouldn't really be correct to call any of them underrated. If they write a fic later for the pairing, I'll make sure to read their fic and comment.

Has there ever been anyone who’s made you freak out because they read your work and followed/favorited/reviewed? I have a mutual who me and a friend always refer to as "AO3 User [Full URL]" because her fanfic was amazing. Even to this day, I don't like to bother her too much 😂

What’s the nicest review you’ve ever gotten? There's a couple of people who've read my fics or have gotten friends to read my fics despite not being in the fandom, and I really treasure that. Of course the long comments are always the best :D <3 But I also really like short comments, and this one was really touching (commented on a (sort of) vampire AU I wrote): "What a great premise - totally unexpected (which after 25 years of fic, hard to find) and beautifully written."

What’s the meanest review you’ve ever gotten? Do you think the reviewer intended it? Someone flamed me on an Xmen fic I wrote years ago on ff.net, criticising the plot and my grammar. I didn't really care, though; my response upon reading it was like "Dude I am literally 12 years old" LOL.

What constructive criticism, however well-meaning, always makes you feel bad when you see it in a review? Never gotten any reviews like this, except maybe the one I mentioned above. I don't think I get enough comments to have seen the breadth of the type of negative reviews people leave.

What aspect of your writing do you most enjoy to see praised? Uhhh… When there was a nice thing in the plot or the dialogue and people say Wow or when they say they could imagine the character saying it or something… (< imagine I said that in a weird low voice like Eeyore)

I sometimes post to Tumblr (ask memes) or Dreamwidth (community prompts) but I prefer AO3, especially because for the rare comment that I do get, I can find it again easily. I don't really like posting fic directly to Tumblr because if someone comments on it the fic or post or whatever, I can't find it easily. And I have a really really bad memory 😭 I like things in one place.

How many views has your most popular fic gotten? Highest hit count is 12,026 hits on "We Who Have the Souls," which is my top kudosed fic (751).

It's Grimm! I've posted some art of Grimm before, (he often got some of my most detailed artworks on my art blog @sp00ky-doodles) and recently, I had been going "man, I don't like something about this design."

(this is the old one. It's honestly not bad, there are many things I really like and kept- mostly it was just the face that was bugging me.)

So basically I dedicated a bunch of time in my sketchbook to drawing him a bunch in various slightly different ways until I found something I liked. turned out the answer was to give him an emo haircut haha

I also finally actually gave him ears and a nose. which for some reason I didn't give him when I first designed him. he looks better with them honestly I don't know why I didn't do it sooner. also I made his cloak a bit cooler because I am not immune to putting buckles and belts and zippers on everything I can.

anyway time for some Grimm Fun Facts!!

Grimm is a generally very laid-back person. he likes quiet environments and tasks that keep him busy.

due to a magic-related incident in his youth, Grimm has a bunch of extra weird arms that come out of a hole in his back. when he was younger he was freaked out by them, but he's gotten used to them. they're useful for carrying extra things.

Grimm is a Hunter, which is basically a Dualiti-exclusive variant of the undead that the main villain of Dualiti, Laurel, can make people into and control (think zombies but mostly sentient and strong as hell). he mostly uses them as soldiers, but due to the static nature of Dualiti, (not really able to go anywhere else, really only fighting the same people) most of Laurel's hunters are just sort of chilling. In Grimm's case, he's been around since Dualiti's force field went up like 1000 years ago and has no interest in fighting anyone.

this doesn't mean he isn't strong, though. he's a really powerful swordsman. Like crazy over the top anime levels. however as previously mentioned he is completely uninterested in fighting.

instead he spends most of his time maintaining a very large botanical garden area in some remote part of Dualiti. It gives him something to do, and plants are neat.

He's Vex's brother! they don't talk.

He was formerly part of the initial adventuring party that tried to stop Laurel back in the day, but a lot of things went wrong. like. a lot. he doesn't want to talk about it. he doesn't want to talk to anyone really.

The Society of Science (Scientific institution in Dualiti) actually uses the place to get any plants they may need for experiments, so there are some scientists who are also living in the garden in order to monitor some of the plants. they do not know Grimm is there, because Grimm avoids just about anyone who comes into the garden.

It's easy for him to do this because the garden is very big. If you want a visual reference for the garden itself, look at the Queens Gardens from Hollow Knight. I love that area in the game it's so pretty

Most people don't know Grimm is here and think the place is haunted. and maybe it is :)

Hidden deep in the heart of the garden is the grave of someone very dear to him. don't disturb it, okay?

In terms of my deadname yes- I was named after my mother, and it was (as often is for spanish families) in combination with my middle name, which is after my grandmother.

My current name isn't after a family member, but has a symbolic relation to my deadname.

2. When was the last time you cried?

Maybe a month ago because I was worried I hurt my girlfriend's feelings :'D

3. Do you have kids?

Nope. I like kids, but no desire to have my own.

4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?

I think I used to be more so. These days it tends to come out only in two ways: if I am currently with someone I know very well and who knows I am not being mean-spirited, or if I am with a stranger and they are being an ass lol.

5. What sports do you play/have played?

I was a very active kid and would do all the sports! Though my favorites were soccer, and martial arts, tae kwon do and shinkendo. I have been meaning to get back into martial arts when I have more time.

I think its a tie between the persons overall face shape/facial features and their voice.

Brown lol deep brown but still light enough that its not hard to see my pupils. Unless under a black light apparently lmao

Art things mostly. I'm especially skilled at drawing figures and some animals. I'm a decent singer although that is completely untrained lol

no way the real moss guy in my inbox... heehe... im actually really excited to ramble about this!!! =D back when i first read hs i made many fan characters but i got an idea to make a fansession where, instead of the 12 zodiac signs it was the 22 major tarot cards..... and it kinda went from there!

because obviously 22 character session would be insane i at some point formed out 6 kids who were having The Session, and the rest of the characters were "npcs" made by sburb. but yknow, more humanlike than the carapacians, so kinda akin to the trolls. oh yea i changed some of the sburb worldbuilding for this, so i suppose its an alternate version of the game.... ;p also the session would take place around 2019.

okeeey anyways heres the players!

ester olsen (the star) is a knight of hope from sweden who's foolish and hyperactive but also very hopeful and loyal like a dog, she's internally a deviantart kid who draws exclusively on ms paint and sburb's quest for her is to become a typical hero. her land is a field with a country town inhabited by animal people.

her older brother emil (the chariot) is a rogue of breath who moves trough life very fast and always thrives to make progress by any means, and also takes care of ester... because hes awesome... his land is a giant sea of energy kind of similar to terezi's.

elio cassini (the sun) is the heir of light, he's just a really lucky boy who likes jrpgs and magic spells. he's anxious and keeps to the rules but well meaning; best friend of ester. he learns to accept the dark sides of the world instead of escaping from them. his land is an orange desert full of broken glass, ancient bones and mysteries.

elio's sister is nastia the maid of space (the empress)! she's kind of a snarky girl next door who likes art, gardening, fashion and baking but she struggles with persistence. her land is a field of giant flowers.. and frogs of course ;p

selene's the mage of void (the moon). (no surname i thought of for these two..... whoops....) she's the oldest one and also very lonely, although she isn't expressive she tends to cling to other people. she used to like weird and fascinating things, her land is a broken apart mountainous area flooded by dark water!

then selene's younger brother rasmus the prince of time (the emperor)! hes your average delinquent scriptie kid who tends to get into fights (usually with ester), but he's never completely malicious. his land is a fiery lava pool that's hard to navigate.

the goal is still to make the next universe via a frog, but theres no derse and prospit and instead dreaming just teleports your ghost self to a random location. there's still a fight between dark and light though, but this time it's the magician card (light) and the high priestess card (dark) who have their forces battling it out, which is pretty much everyone else, on a skaia stand in which is no longer a chessboard and now just a black and white planet. they're also the final bosses in place of king and queen, and they get stronger the session goes on so the party needs to act fast!!!

idk how to summarise the whole duration of the session to be honest because too much stuff gets involved.. but basically they do make it out in the end! (with some major character deaths though... hehh..)

Hello Everyone!

My name is Jo, and i am the sole curator of this blog. This post will serve as both an introduction to me, as well as clearing up my intentions with this blog.

So, to start, I should introduce myself.

As stated before, I am Jo! I use he/him pronouns. I identify as a binary gnc gay transgender man, though my identity itself is more complex than that(that isn't anyone's business, though.). My main account is @radspeon

I have always been interested in BL(boys love) content(also known as yaoi, though that is a more outdated term now.) to a certain extent. Recently, however, my interest in it has grown exponentially, and I decided to create a separate sideblog to post exclusively BL/yaoi-related content.

Intentions, Disclaimers, Et Cetera.

This blog will definitely showcase some problematic content, as most yaoi is, and I would like to make it clear that I don't support any unsavory themes that may appear in the media I talk about here. I am not a proshipper, nor am I an antishipper. I recognize that censoring art is bad, even if it is unsavory, while also recognizing that things like pornography depicting child characters(drawn, written, or otherwise) or drawing artworks of two siblings in a romantic relationship is bad. I also believe that declaring yourself to be affiliated with either side is a kind of pathetic thing to do.

I acknowledge the poor quality of the representation in most classic yaoi series, and loudly laugh at it. This blog isn't meant to be serious, as the way I'm writing this may mislead you to believe. My URL is from a joke post, for god sake lol. This is why I have employed the #good rep and #bad rep tagging system, because I know how terrible many of these anime's/manga's are about representation. I'm a gay man myself, I like to believe that I can recognize good and bad representation, though I highly encourage other gay men to correct me if I ever miss things that count as bad/good representation in a given media.

I mean it, don't. I understand that you think you have a shiny new point to bring up about the conversation that you'd adore to talk about, but I'm telling you that,

This blog is for everyone to enjoy, MLM media is for everyone to enjoy, we should not try to limit the consumption and creation of MLM media to just gay men. It's ridiculous to try to restrict artists to your standards of the "correct creator."

If it's just a face and you are just wondering if there's gonna be romantic relationships (which is what I assume "proper" means in this sense, of if not romantic then like "serious" relationships), then the answer is probably?

Like technically Gwen, Yu, Miles, and Ganke are in a relationship with Kento in squeezed in there.

Peni and Yinu are starting their relationship at the start of the story after the time skip.

There's the already established relationships of May and Eve (Haym leaves the throuple), Rin and Zuke (they get married), Zimelu and Celine (they also get married), and Purl West and Cryil.

Eloni and Eri are together. Ilia, Hanami, and Asa are together (with Asa taking a break from them at some point). Ada and Brute.

Honestly you have a whole thing going on with the curses probably. I can see Ilia joining them in their relationships with each other.

Satoru and Suguru have their situationship going on.

(Maybe Shoko and Utahime have a small casual situationship at some point, idk).

As much as I love HeartMonitor (Mama x Neon) or NeonNova (Neon x Nova... obviously lol), I don't think either of those ships will end up being actually "canon" in the Eriverse.

I don't know what's going on with Lili and Raz, but the two are together somehow.

Sam and Dion are probably together.

Pav and Gaya stayed together and are going strong.

I don't have any ideas at all for the Homestuck characters. Kinda lost interest in HS at the moment because I am hyper focused on JJK (hoping to continue reading it at some point). Though Dave probably had a crush on June before she came out as trans, then kinda lost interest in her romantically (kinda like how Ganke lost interest in Gwen when she started transitioning).

Maka and Soul are maybe a couple? I have to rewatch Soul Eater (honestly I should just read the manga since I'm pretty sure the anime butchered the story at the end and probably in the middle as well too).

There's probably more relationships that I can't think of right now. Did you mean a certain kind of "proper" relationship? Like just 2 people? Hetero? Married? Officially dating/exclusive? Stuff like that? Or just people being together and committed to each other?

I'm more looking forward to exploring connections between people that isn't entirely in the "romantic" area of relationships. Like how these people are coming together for what was supposed to be finding the next generation Natura Charter, and now they have to somehow fight against a whole new species that wants to kill off humanity with the help of robots.

There won't be too much focus on romance, at least not that I am planning. So I don't really have any "official" relationships I am going to be adding unless an ask or something changes my mind (or I get some fucking brain blast while zoning out one day lol).

One thing I didn't add that I just thought could be a possible reason too is that adults are able to moreso justify ingesting media that's aimed at kids/teens versus media aimed at just kids (and yes, I mean kids/teens because even though manga & anime can be for any age lets not pretend like one type in particular isn't soaring above the rest aka shonen, aka boys anime and as for the US we don't really have teen cartoons, we have some moreso now but just barely and weren't well marketed so weren't well known outside people who tend to already watch cartoons).

Adults seem to be able to justify reading stuff for teens then they do stuff marketed/aimed at kids (just look at all the adults who read young adult novels) so they end up doing just that, some even exclusively read that kind of stuff.

But, it's all not meant for y'all so just... get over it, lol!

which you probably want to read first for context, but i made it a new post so i could put spoilers under a cut and because it is kinda a separate idea from that posts considerations. speaking of which, rather long post and also it contains dwarf fortress spoilers at the very end.

exclusively aquatic people - can't get them normally whether in fortress or adventure mode, but there's an interesting idea of having either an exclusively aquatic fortress or a separate section of your fortress with their own flooded workshops and beds and stuff (can they still use them though? would that even work?). the only reason they would be interesting despite this inconvenience and the possibility of them not even functioning, where amphibious people basically dont matter, is the species - sperm whale people are even fucking bigger than elephant people (5x more, jesus), and ?from what i can tell? cuttlefish, squid, and octupus people actually get the full set of limbs from the original animal plus 2 arms and 2 legs, so they have a ton of arms? but thats of dubious use since i think the main value draw of that is using more shields and its gonna be hard to field your aquatic-people as soldiers, lol.

anyway i mean idk how much of a benefit to productivity the extra strength of an elephant person is vs the value for combat, and even then, i would assume it plateaus long before you get to being 200 times the size of a dwarf. i guess maybe you could use dwarves for convenient surface work and then if a megabeast shows up you use forbidding to force them through an underwater path where a crack team of a dozen supersoldiers lay in wait. actually oh man that's interesting. if they're able to sleep and use training halls normally so long as you have a fully submerged area of your fort, and you dont care about them crafting (even better to ensure theyre as trained as possible), all you need to deal with is dropping meals and gear into the water for them, instead of worrying about getting items *they* craft out of the water.

a well equipped and trained dwarven squad can handle most megabeasts but some can still be a problem; assuming you can produce equipment for spermwhalepeople normally, i think even if your sperm whale people soldiers are only mediocre in skill, they will be larger and stronger than most megabeasts. a dwarf with good armor can take some serious hits from creatures far larger than it, but a spermwhaleperson with good armor? i think even when they take a hit it would barely do anything to them. maybe i dont understand the way damage accumulates on large creatures though, idk.

as for weapons, obviously a huge monster has just a lot of force behind their attacks, but their contact area for attacks are big and the material hardness isnt that high. the strength of a megabeast but using steel (or divine metal or adamantine) material characteristics, and the contact area of a weapon allowing it to do critical damage more often against any defenses. the only thing that would trump it in defensive capabilities would be procgen megabeasts with metal bodies, and even then, because of the contact area of a weapon vs natural attacks, they should fall. plus your soldiers have combat skills and also, masterwork gear is super effective so that narrows the gap a little bit. definitely still a risk, but i mean. metal procgen monsters decimate any normal fort unless you can permanently trap them or you use an atom smasher to kill them, and here we're talking about you might lose a couple soldiers in a frontal fight of one squad vs one megabeast. oh, also special attacks from procgen creatures. actually those matter a lot, your sperm whale supersoldiers are still vulnerable to syndromes.

but uh. I mean, okay, they're never fighting angels because they're exclusively stationed in their underwater tank and can't travel over land to a vault (also, that isn't a common occurrance anyway and history/mission combat works differently from combat in the normal game area such that (i'm told) a few well equipped and skilled squads can successfully take a vault even if they'd be annihilated by the same angels if the fight took place in the fort. but demons you fight in the fort have grand master combat skills and there are *tons* of them, whereas even with the terrifying prospect of the metal bodied forgotten beast or titan, there's only one of them vs your whole squad. plus against multiple demons its even more likely that the vulnerability of syndromes ends up fucking you over.

i would have sworn that demons and angels can also get a full set of divine metal masterwork gear but i think that might be only true for archangels and ?possibly also unique demons in spires?. in any case, that uh. rather closes the gap that was created by being able to use dwarven equipment, and even overcomes it, but those you only fight one on one so you have the advantage of numbers instead of like thirty HFS clowns.

also uh, despite all of this waxing on about the power of having soldiers that are literally *even bigger* than megabeasts (by fuckin 20%!!!), i think its worthy of consideration whether you could just, yknow, have elephantpeople instead. just seems a lot easier, theyre still goddamn huge, probably a hell of a lot easier to have a whole squadron of them compared to dealing with your second-fort-inside-your-fort and needing to like fenagle to get megabeasts to pathfind through the underwater chamber instead of just sending a squad to kill them with minimal effort. plus you could preemptively hunt down beasts in the caverns to make it safe for your dwarves to go down there instead of needing to react. and like, we know that number beats size from existing dwarf vs megabeast combat. so its pretty certain that 5 elephantpeople drastically outperform 1 spermwhaleperson.

You know what, I may as well ask my last farm-related question right away: What's your take on Scott Tiller? That's a background character that isn't talked about often, but when it happens, there's debate. On the one hand, he's clearly a tractor. On the other, being named after a member of the production team means he has both a first and last name. Do you think there's a sapience division between 2WD (like those in RS) & 4WD tractors, or did someone just give their pet tractor a last name?

Oh man, your ask sent me on a Right to Repair spiral and whether or not this would be something that existed in the Carsverse or not (I don't think so). I don't think so because in my mind, the factories that produce vehicles are themselves semi-sentient--they aren't owned by any cars and aren't "run" by anything per se. The factories are rips in space-time, in the division between worlds Created and worlds come together, bound by random acts of physics. Memory rots and warps at their edges, as happens at the frayed edges of all universes.

We've seen domestic cattle tractors in Cars 1 and wild deer tractors in Planes--and we have Frank, who seems to exist at a higher order than the tractors he shepherds (maybe), but also Bessie, who seems content to exist as pure machine. So Scott Tiller does present a new question. I would say that having a first and last name doesn't necessarily mean he's any different than Frank (maybe we just don't know Frank's last name--after all, no one in RS has a last name that we know, outside of Sally. Doc and Mater are hard maybes). But that's boring and pedantic, so I'm happy to imagine that Scott Tiller is a 100% very-much-sapient piece of farm equipment.

I don't think the cars themselves have really hardline distinctions between themselves and farm equipment that they abide by, in the sense that they see them as irrevocably different species apart from themselves. Obviously they know the tractors outside town don't act like them, but for all they know maybe one day the tractors will up and change their minds. It's kind of like... So, most of the contemporary human world operates on this assumption that humans are categorically different (often read as "more valuable" or "more divine") than other animals, or plants, or rocks. But that's just a cultural assumption at the end of the day, and there are also many cultures that do not heed this distinction and do not see it. A heron may be as much kin as a human.

That's how I think cars see tractors. Not consciously, because mostly they are not particularly inclined to metaphysics, but in their uninterrogated gut assumptions. If a tractor like Scott rolled up to chat they wouldn't think anything of it. (This is ironic because whenever the cars DO try to think about these things they do it very badly, trying and failing to categorize themselves as racecars or not racecars, lemons or not lemons... This is how we somehow manage to get insinuations of racism/sexism with River and Louise, even though... everyone is a car... LOL. Not that humans haven't replicated these exact same pitfalls in our own attempts to order the world, haha.)

I also don't think Scott is alone. Sometimes there are tractors whose ghost in the machine is more verbal; it happens. (Sometimes there are cars whose ghosts are less so; this also happens.) The delineations are unclear and the universal order even more so.

It's not about the mechanics, though. 2WD, 4WD, it's only a drivetrain, a tool. The tools that make you may not be wholly exclusive of the ghost that animates you, but what makes you you is so much more that unknowable ghost.

Yesterday he called Touya and begged him to bike over and said it was important and when Touya showed up he was asleep, and stayed fast asleep right through to the next morning. He keeps trying to make appointments with doctors, and then falling asleep before he can call, or, when Touya calls for him, before he can make it out the door. Privately, Touya isn't sure how much good a doctor can do for him, but anything has to be better than this, right?

"Really? I'm glad to hear it." Ugh, how much has Sakura told him. Not that she doesn't have a right to talk to her friends, but, come on, would it kill her to least keep it between her and Tomoyo and the funny looking cat.

He's good, that's an obvious lie. Ruby has said Yukito could barely stand upright at school. Every inch of Touya Kinomoto is packed full of magic. Sooner or later, Eriol figures, either Sakura will be powerful enough to sustain him, or Yue will have to get over himself and just eat already. Touya can't actually do anything with his magic, so it's not like Yue, even weak as he is, will have to face much of a struggle to take it. (Aside from competition with Ruby, of course. There's something to that, right, articles and studies about animals being healthier if they need a bit of careful planning to get their food? Yes, so this works out nicely.)

Or maybe- oh, that's probably it. Yue's on to him, isn't he? He's just being stubborn as usual, figuring sooner or later Clow will appear via Eriol and save him. He can imagine how surprised, overjoyed, grateful Yue would be, if Eriol showed up and saved his life. He can imagine Yue's head resting on his neck as clearly as if he had kept Yue well-fed with magic a thousand times in his lifetime. It would be nice, in the short run, but it wouldn't be right, no. Clow is dead, and Yue needs to learn to live with that. If he knows what's good for him, he will take responsibility for his own life, and if he doesn't...

Ahh, well, maybe it's Clow's old sentimentality, maybe Eriol is just warming up to Sakura's moon guardian all on his own, but he can't bring himself around to the idea of letting Yue just die. He'd save him, if it came down to it. But, he tells himself sternly, only as an absolute last resort. He's just worrying because he misses Yue and wants to get to know him better all at once in that past-and-future way- it's worth a visit, soon. Yes, a nice little visit, and Yue will never even have to know it happened. Just to check in.

if we talk about this convo we need to back up and talk about how it got here. this should give you some idea of how badly this needs to be under a cut for length lol.

so it all starts with the bit about how someone falling and being caught is something that happens a lot in ccs. how with eriol, it's purposeful, and with fujitaka (and i misremembered it but since found out she fell *on* him and not *caught* by him, which lolol i hope he broke a bone, but also its fine the fic's already marked canon divergent, or maybe the story gets misremembered, whatever, in any case), it's an echo of clowriol's intentional artificial-trustbuild-dangersaves but without the magic or purpose to back it up (just like fujitaka himself!), but it's a situation he quickly makes favorable to him, because it may be a blank slate but it's made of the same material.

this whole convo was part of one of the very first chunks written, but everything was going to go in a very different direction at first. (there's a lot of Cut Content from this fic, some that i just didn't like, some that wasn't connectable with the rest of the fic after it took the shape it took but might pop up somewhere else one day idk). in this particular bit i cut the later half of the conversation because i really didn't like what i'd written, but then even though the direction of the story changed the conversation was still going so it had to bounce somewhere else, so it bounced to yukito. here we are answering your ask 2 paragraphs in!

yukito, iirc in the anime, did catch her from a fall, (in the manga, which made way more sense for why she had to change her clothes and rest so much, he saved her from drowning, again iirc because who can trust a memory) and at a point where eriol still has some investment in making yuekito/sakura (ewwwww) happen, he's going to try and draw on that symbolism to nudge her in that direction, right?

so all this said, SPEAKING of yuekito. how are they doing.

bad, obviously. touya's freaking out. i imagine that part of what's stopping yukito from seeing a doctor is yue, though- he knows it wont help, and i dont think yukito has, like, person insides that will stand up to medical tests, and yue would pick up on yukito like, not wanting to be outed to the doctor as a magic construct because he, like, doesnt actually have a real heart that pulses, just a repeating heartbeat sound. doesn't for real have blood etc to test, just records of blood type (for personality reasons).

and also touya's a very like keep-ur-problems-not-everybodys-business type so hes like imagining sakura venting her fears to this weirdo and getting pissed off. but that didnt actually happen, eriol knew all on his own lolol. touya you have to say something nice should happen to sakura to make up for wrongly suspecting her now

and this bit on eriol's end is all wrong information and inaccurate conclusions and i was really worried ppl would take it at face value but i hope nobody did. in ccs we get moments where eriol wants sakura to take power, or to learn that power can be taken- his final battle with her, for example, where the answer to his light and dark puzzle is to use kero and yue's power, except that's not something she would ever Want to do or would even Occur to her to try. the power is gifted to her by kero and yue (and syaoran!) because they love her.

same concept, here- the answer to the 'yue is dying' puzzle is to eat touya's power, and he can't imagine the real reason why he won't just do that, and when he thinks about it too long it goes right to his ego- yue looovvvvesss clow, and by extension me. he wants meeeeeee to save him. he wants to neck kissy MY magic soo sooooo bad. but yue isn't considering any of that at all. he's thinking about yukito and what touya means to yukito and why that would make yukito hesitate to reach out, and that no way in hell will he just ambush his other self's crush down a dark alley and take his magic, even to save both their lives. he's a lot more selfless than clow and eriol ever realize. maybe- this is just a half formed thought right now, i dont know if im like certain about it, but- maybe they feel his devotion to clow was a form of selfishness, that he Wanted Love as a thing he could hold and own, whereas pretty much everybody else who meets him goes like YOU SELFLESS MAN YOU CANT JUST DIE FOR PPL YOU CARE ABOUT YOU GOTTA TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF TOOOO

and there’s also that bit of teacherliness intrinsic to the three of them again: im doing this to teach him a lesson. im letting ruby do her thing without telling her what’s going on to help and encourage yue, etc.

anyway, that (in terms of fic weaving itself into canon) solidifies his decision to do uhmmmm a thing that creeps me out real bad in the anime (knocking yue out to have a moment with him, and oh, ding, there's another 'you fell but i caught you' moment!). eriol loves this manner of hanging out with people, you see it later in this fic, even:

It's important to say what's in your heart to the people you want to say it to, even if you have to make sure the other person never hears it. It's important for your own emotional freedom.

he loves to spend time with people exclusively on his terms, to the point where the other party never even knew he was there, because he knocked them out, or because he was just staring creepily at the outside of sakura's house while she did homework, etc etc etc.

tldr: it's all connected, aaaaaaaaa
