i think one of my favourite things about sung jin-woo (and kudos to the author for this) is that he doesn’t follow the traditional underdog -> all powerful character pipeline. because he does what he needs to do and doesn’t pretend he’s not ruthless or that he’s morally high standing. the game says ‘kill humans’ and he doesn’t really hesitate at all. most manga/manwha heroes in this genre tend to be like ‘no wait i have to avoid killing humans at all cost. i don’t want to lose my humanity. no matter what they do humans are the most precious and should not be harmed by my hand’. meanwhile sung jin-woo is like ‘well it is survival of the fittest and you fuckers tried to kill me so now prepare to die’. and he even admits that although it’s the game that prompts him to kill them, it’s him who actually kills. he fully accepts it’s by his hand and his choice.

Ah yes, a perfectly logical conclusion to come to. Literally anyone in their organization or with access to their information (knowledge they could've acquired by, say, torturing it out of one of the many many dead elven agents lying around Halamshiral as a random example) could have sent this woman to this room where a killer was waiting, but it must have been Briala! Because... uh... she knew Briala was sleeping with Celene when Celene burned down the alienage. Which is a mark against Briala (who dumped her immediately afterwards if I'm remembering right) rather than Celene, because... uh...

Not a single person ever explains why Briala having an affair with the empress at the time the alienage burned would reflect more on Briala than Celene and it bothers me, the only people who'd be likely to think worse of Briala for it are the elves and she's been working so tirelessly in their favour that I doubt it'd be a deal-breaker for them. What, did Bioware realize halfway through the quest that Briala hadn't done anything blackmail-worthy and crammed this in at the last second in a desperate attempt to balance it out? Because it didn't work!
