!!!EMERGENCY POST!!!
Sometimes I forget to cover a thing, so I add the phrase “EMERGENCY POST” to the top of the post to indicate that. So, without further adude:
Tim & Eric Nite Live #1: “Delicious Pizza” | November 6, 2007 - 10:00PM | S01E01 Aired on superdeluxe.com
Folks, I messed up. While this blog was always meant to be more about the proper television content of the Adult Swim original comedy ecosphere, I was planning to at least touch on some of the web-only content. While covering it in-depth wasn’t going to be a requirement I could work with, I was, however, planning to make an exception for Tim & Eric Nite Live. But I didn’t think about formally making sure I wasn’t gonna miss it until it was too late. I falsely remembered that the series started sometime midway through season two, rather than a few weeks before season two. I’m so sorry. But, being a spin-off somewhat of Tim & Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! I’ve decided to count this, and I’ve decided to do a brief run of posts catching up with this series so I can weave the few remaining 2007 episodes where they actually belong on the timeline.
Tim and Eric Nite Live is an achievement. It’s one of the funniest things they’ve ever done. How can two Pennsylvanians, such a universally reviled demographic of people, be so goddamn effortlessly funny? It boggles my mind.
This is basically a public access show for the internet. It’s clearly influenced by their own love of public access shows. A lot of people from Tim & Eric Awesome Show, Great Job showed up to participate in this. You had Richard Dunn, showing up to get shaved (sometimes played by the real Richard Dunn, but briefly and absurdly played by Zach “big time” Galifianakis” for a brief stretch), You had David Liebe Hart performing music and interjecting way too much from the sidelines (which yields some of the show’s funniest moments, nearly derailing the fabricated trainwreck into a real one).
This one opens up with a wonderfully elaborate intro sequence, which makes the show seem like an attempt at a slick news-magazine show. What we get instead is an endless small-talk segment that is clearly paid advertisement for Papa John’s Pizza. To clarify: they aren’t actually getting paid by Papa John’s they are just doing their goddamn best to sincerely sell the idea that they might be. They are so good at laying it on thick. Tim decreeing “I’ve never seen anything like this” regarding the Papa John's website is hysterical.
Other memorable moments: Tim backhandedly insulting We Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, which was actually being advertised on the front page of Super Deluxe’s web page. I’ve done a very poor job of approximating what it might have looked like if you were watching this web broadcast on the front page of the site. It’s on top of this write-up. I tell you, streaming this show was hellish at the time. I remember sitting through entire episodes of the show and just watching all of my friends comment on it in an AIM chatroom while it buffered endlessly for me, so I only got to see a few snippets here and there as it aired live.
It really was live, too. They took Skype calls from fans, and treated them poorly. My favorite call is a cute girl named Kate who DLH immediately starts hitting on (he nearly gives her his phone number only to be cut off by Tim & Eric). She refers to “Jayne and Wan” Skyler which prompts an immediate hang-up from Tim, incensed that she got the names wrong.
Another memorable bit is DJ Doug Pound presenting the mostly lame Tim & Eric cover song contest. This bit ends with Doug very sillily walking into the camera as he leaves, causing a huge disruption in our visual experience of the show. Tim scolds him for doing an extra bit of comedy that the show did not need.
It’s important to note: Tim & Eric eventually released higher-quality versions of these that are in roughly DVD quality. From what I can tell they are uncut but with one exception: this first episode is missing around a minute’s worth of footage towards the beginning. My guess is that their own high-quality archive of the stream failed, but since they had the opening sequence as a pre-recorded video they just stitched that to the front of their incomplete archive. If you find the lower-quality version online, it has a SuperDeluxe network bug in the corner. This is the more complete version. I made a composite version a long time ago but I don’t know if I have it handy anymore. If I find it, maybe I’ll throw it up online sometime?

LP Act 2!!! How well did LIAM do?? He KILLED IT!! Once it was finally able to start, that is! The Veeps website crashed about an hour before the show started, and was not able to start running again until over an hour after it was supposed to start. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m having flashbacks to the anniversary website (as well as every other website the One Direction curse seems to have contact with).
Highlights of the show include him performing What a Feeling, which is the first time anyone from One Direction has ever performed it, ever! There were also pictures of his band (One Direction? Maybe you’ve heard of them?) in onesies and dressed as Mario Kart characters (in case you’re wondering, this would have been from that one Mario Kart interview, yes). Some ~ super fun (old) behind the scenes facts ~ include that the boys got in trouble for the onesie picture because “a cool band - like Westlife - would never have done that”. Uh, fuck you, said Westlife, who promptly took a picture in onesies one week later. Love that for them.
Say what you will about these guys, they do really listen to their fans and deliver. Louis was clearly taking careful notes on our merch requests, and is delivering, and Liam really came through with the song selections, opening with the seemingly forgotten songs from his EP, to singing more One Direction songs - I’m not over the What A Feeling performance, and I never will be. The chat, meanwhile, “play Little Things!”. Seriously, what the fuck guys?
Other notable moments from the show include Liam singing Night Changes and Best Song Ever (I love this song!), and his opening act Mae Muller, who sang her newest single, as well as a song called “Therapist”, in which she crooned “you don’t need a girlfriend, you need a therapist”. Also, on the topic of One Direction (were we on that topic? We are now.), he said, “wow, ten years, so much has happened, I’ve got a mustache now!” (Harry can relate :{D!). He mentioned that it was hard to play these old songs without the boys (“I did ask, though!”). And, perhaps most surprisingly, his show did feature ...cage dancers? I wasn’t expecting that one either, to be honest.
Following the show came Afterparty. This was, in a word, awkward. There were some zoom games that mostly consisted of technical difficulties, Liam standing around awkwardly, and participants who mostly failed to answer the questions correctly. The prizes for participating in this game consisted solely of Liam’s used shirts, which he joked were from his depop store! There were also video messages wishing Liam a happy birthday, notably from artists he’s worked with including Niall (!!!!).
The funniest moment of the show was definitely the costume of a cow he promptly put on because “why not? It’s not the worst thing I’ve put on during a show”. It’s no banana suit, but it did give him the opportunity to make penis jokes. And, guys, he took it! The second funniest moment was when asked what his favorite part of going solo was, he promptly replied, “finding out that people don’t know my middle name”, in reference to a failed zoom answer.
If you were looking for an update to YESTERDAY’s headline story, well, so was I, to be honest, but, as Liam said (when talking about birthday wishes), “I’m sorry, I’m going to have to keep some information close to the chest”. I think that’s that about that, to be honest. But Liam did have special guests on hand: childhood friends - Not Maya.
None of the other boys had any notable events today, but Harry made Daily Mail headlines for, uh, making a friend? Someone call the press! Oh, wait - Someone already did! Emma Corrin, the “pal” he seems to have made, will be playing Princess Diana in the upcoming season of the Crown. So, you know, some queens do need a crown (not Harry, though, obviously). Most notably, though, the article makes a point of explicitly telling us that they are not romantically involved.
Louis continues to be making fandom rounds for his merch, which is a topic of heated debate. What is behind the DNA strand? Yesterday, I called it a wall, but some have said that it looks more like a baby gate, while others brought their professional medical opinions to bear to tell us that it was in fact an artery wall. Which is it? Place your bets now!
#the other thing people are arguing about on Louis' merch#are the fact that crosshairs seem to spell out *** **#what do i think of this?#i...don't know#could be? maybe?#they do seem quite out of place there#but also#how likely is it?#who knows#i DO think that the gate thing is more likely#because since we're taking anecdotal evidence#i would like to share that the one medical professional I spoke to#did not immeadiately recognize it as an artery wall#nor did they mention that the second third or fourth time they saw the design#so i feel more comfortable calling that a fence or a gate of some kind#also#i do think that Louis is very much aware of what DNA means within his fandom#and that this whole design was very much on purpose#so yeah#liam said on instagram that his karaoke song was elton john and george michael's Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me#and niall posted on instagram about chadwick boseman#and actually#my song rec of the day is for chadwick boseman#who was such a light in the world#and in the indutry#the song is Glitter by Patrick Droney#lp#lt#hs#emma corrin

Do you or have you ever owned a cup with your name on it? >> Actually, I have two. One time there was this dude in Meijer who was doing a promotion for Guinness, and the promo was apparently... giving out custom-engraved pint glasses???? You told him your name and he had this machine that put it on the glass for you. It was weird, especially since it was free... The font that your name is in is a bit wack, though. The other thing I have is a wine glass painted with a nighttime-y scene with skeletal trees and ravens on it. It has my name painted on the stand part, along with the date of my wedding. Sparrow has one too, with her name on it. I’m not even sure where they came from, tbh, but they’re pretty.
What’s the most expensive crafts tool that you own? >> I don’t think I own any expensive crafts tools. The only things I have are, like, pencils, a sketchbook, knitting needles, and yarn.
Have you ever woven baskets of any kind (wicker, paper, cardboard etc.)? >> Maybe as a child.
How do you like Great Balls of Fire by Jerry Lee Lewis? >> It’s all right.
Speaking of Jerry Lee Lewis, have you seen the biopic about him? >> I don’t think so.
How about the biopic about Tina Turner? >> Yeah, I saw that one.
Do you like the TV-show Frasier? >> I do, it’s actually funnier to me now than when I was younger. Back then I thought it was boring but it kills me now.
What’s something you know by heart? >> A lot of song lyrics? Also, the Litany Against Fear.
What is something you’re greedy about? >> I don’t think I’m particularly greedy about anything.
How valuable does a coin have to be for you to bother to pick it up? >> I’d pick up a quarter, maybe. I’m just no longer in the financial position where picking up coins substantially enhances my available funds.
What would be something you would wait in line to get for free? >> It depends on how long the line is, what kind of mood I’m in, and where I am... not just on what the item is. If I’m in a good mood and the line seems manageable, I’d wait in it even if the item is just some random trinket that I have no real use for. If I’m not in a good mood and the line is insane, I wouldn’t wait in it even if it was for an expensive thing I’ve been wanting for ages.
Has there ever been a leak anywhere in your house? >> No.
Have you ever slipped in the shower? >> Not to the point of falling.
Have you ever made any decorative crafts? If so, are they displayed? >> Not in recent memory.
Is it very humid where you are right now? >> Nah.
What is the most suggestive thing someone has said to you? >> *shrug*
Do you have friends who you playfully flirt with? >> No.
Doesn’t the Z in the Bzoink logo look like an L to you, too? >> I mean, not really, but I see where you’re coming from.
Did you ever take that 5000 question survey that was circulating Tumblr? >> Yeah, I took it a long time ago. Once the novelty wore off, I realised that most of the questions were just terrible IMO, which is bound to happen once you endeavour to write a survey with quite that many questions.
Have you ever had to change a zipper in your favourite article of clothing? >> No.
Do you prefer buttons or zippers in general? >> Zippers.
Did you grandma have a box full of pretty buttons? >> ---
What’s the most exotic spice in your spice rack? >> Hmm... garam masala, maybe? We have a wide variety.
Do buttons tempt you to press them? >> Not usually, but sometimes.
Do you have a favourite television host? >> No.
What’s your opinion on celebrity chefs? >> I think some of them are cool and fun to watch. Alton Brown is probably my fave.
Back when it first started, did you watch ANTM? >> I think I’ve seen a season or two. I knew someone who got on it, too (Isis King).
Did you know, that there was even a Finnish version of ANTM? Miss Jay made an appearance in the first season, too. >> No, I didn’t know that, but it makes sense. There are a bunch of those shows modeled after American Idol, too, for different countries.
Are you accident prone? >> No.
Have you ever broken something really valuable? >> I accidentally broke a laptop screen once, and that was pretty damn valuable to me.
What do you see as timeless? >> ---
What is something that you own, that has sentimental value? >> Most of these plushies.
Have you ever had your own website? >> Yeah, I’ve taken stabs at it.
What’s your favourite board game? >> ---
How about your favourite card game? >> ---
What’s something that you finished recently? >> I finished watching Sparrow play through Death Stranding, lol. I’m glad it was her and not me, because I’m pretty sure that game would have made me ragequit within the first few hours, and that would have been a shame.
What’s the smallest town you recall visiting? >> I have no idea.
What’s the longest distance you’ve had to go to work or school? >> ---
Would you learn a new language, if you didn’t share one with your lover? >> Oh, like in Love Actually? I mean, I can’t imagine myself in that situation, but I thought it was cute.
Do you have friends who are constantly tagging you in challenges on FB? >> No. People who have me on facebook should know I prefer to do my actual fun socialising on here or Discord.
When it comes to chocolate, do you prefer nougat, jelly or caramel filling? >> ---
Are you more concerned about winning than just participating? >> No.
Has somebody you know taken their own life? >> No.
What is a number that has some significance to you? Why is that? >> 9. Well, there’s a lot of synchronicity.
Do you prefer onions, leeks or chives? >> I don’t think I have a preference, I’ll take all three. Onions may be the most versatile, though, so maybe those.
What’s the most adult thing you have to do every day? >> I don’t think I have to do any adult thing every day. Maybe feeding myself is an adult thing? Although teenagers and even kids do that too.
What’s the most immature thing you like to do every day? >> ---
Have you seen the movie, Clue? If so, isn’t it fab? >> No, but I’ve seen some funny gifsets that make me think it’d probably be a good time. I might give it a shot if I run into it on a streaming service one day.
Do your cheeks get flushed easily? Do you blush easily in general? >> No, I’ve never felt that feeling.
Are there any social cues you miss entirely? >> Oh, definitely.
When someone doesn’t smile back at you, what’s your first thought? >> They probably didn’t want to, and that’s okay. I don’t always want to smile at everyone who smiles at me, either, and it shouldn’t be a mark against my character just because I don’t smile at a stranger. But, you know, whatever. Any stranger that takes that much offense at me not smiling at them probably wouldn’t get along with me for very long anyway, so it’s a useful social litmus test in the end.
Is there a person who melts your heart just by looking at you? >> No. Well, maybe Can Calah sometimes.
Have you ever had tom kha kai? It’s a Thai coconut soup, and it’s amazing. We serve it at work. >> No, but I’d definitely try it.
Have you, or anyone you know ever been rude to a server? >> I’ve never had the experience of having to watch someone I’m with be rude to a server and I am so glad for that.
What’s something you’re opinionated and very vocal about? When’s the last time you had to verbally defend your stance? >> I don’t know. I don’t really defend any stance of mine, I just put it out there sometimes if I feel like rambling about it and then leave it alone. Arguing with people about shit that ultimately really don’t matter is a waste of my valuable energy.
Have you ever played BitLife? I sort of got hooked on it, it’s like sims but in text form. >> No. I quite like the graphical form of The Sims, so I’ll stick to that.
What’s something you regularly order online? >> CBD.
When’s the last time you made a penpal? >> I’ve never had one.
Do you often make friends online? >> I make a lot of acquaintances online. Friends are far fewer.
Do people ever try to get something from somebody through you? As in, they ask you to ask the person they should be asking in the first place. If that makes sense. >> No. Which is good, because I wouldn’t do it.
What do you think when you see a couple holding hands? >> Nothing???
Is there anything you’re forced to share with someone else? >> No.
What’s something stripy that you own? >> I have a black-and-royal-blue striped robe with the Ravenclaw logo on the back.
How about something polka dotted? >> Nothing.
What is something you find absolutely appalling? >> Some people’s utterly disrespectful behaviour on this website.
Do you like elevators? >> I mean, they’re fine. I don’t dislike them.
What’s the first thing that comes to mind when I say “midnight madness”? >> Like... premieres? Or book releases? Or something like that. I have a vague association but I can’t remember exactly where it comes from.
What is a country you would never want to visit? >> ---
When you’re angry, does it ever get physical? >> Well, yeah, but not necessarily towards someone else.
What do you do, when you’re immensely happy? >> It depends on how I feel like expressing it at the time? Sometimes I don’t express it much at all, and sometimes I literally jump around the room.
What made you scream out loud the last time you screamed? >> ---
Can you hear your neighbours through the wall? >> Sometimes.
What is something that frustrates you to no end? >> Noise.
Do you wear shoes indoors? >> Absolutely not.
Who is your favourite stand-up comedian? >> Bo Burnham, Dylan Moran, and in general I’m fond of how Tiffany Haddish presents as a person and performer.
What’s the weirdest video youtube has suggested to you? >> It doesn’t usually suggest me anything weird.
What’s the funniest infomercial you’ve seen? >> ---
Is there a drink that just goes right through you? >> I don’t feel that way about any drink, no.
Is there a food item you can’t eat because it doesn’t agree with you? >> Not that I’ve encountered.
Do you playfully compete with someone about something? >> No.
Would you rather swim or run? >> I can’t swim, so my options are a little limited here.
Do you like the smell of tar? >> Sometimes, yeah.
Have you ever been to a sauna? >> No. I couldn’t last two minutes in a sauna.
Does your doorbell ring unexpectedly often? >> Not often, but sometimes people will ring multiple apartments trying to get into the building, which is fucking irritating.
Is your favourite fictional character a human, an animal or something else? >> I am my favourite fictional character. /facetious
Have you ever helped a stranger? If so, what did you do? >> I mean, sure. Just simple stuff, like picking up something they’ve dropped or letting them know they’ve left their key in the apartment door or dropping their mail off when it gets mistakenly put into my box.
Do you share hobbies with any of your friends? What do you do together? >> ---
Do you have any flags on display? If so, what flag(s)? >> I don’t. Sparrow has a rainbow flag with a peace sign in the middle on her wall.

Do you or have you ever owned a cup with your name on it? I do.
What's the most expensive crafts tool that you own? The only kinda pricy art related items I have are my sets of Prismacolor colored pencils.
Have you ever woven baskets of any kind (wicker, paper, cardboard etc.)? No.
How do you like Great Balls of Fire by Jerry Lee Lewis? I mean, it’s catchy.
Speaking of Jerry Lee Lewis, have you seen the biopic about him? Nope.
How about the biopic about Tina Turner? No.
Do you like the TV-show Frasier? I never got into it.
What's something you know by heart? A lot of things, but uhh let’s go with song lyric to a lot of songs.
What is something you're greedy about? Hm. Sleep. It’s never enough.
How valuable does a coin have to be for you to bother to pick it up? I might if it’s a quarter.
What would be something you would wait in line to get for free? I’m really impatient, so it’d have to be something pretty good. Or a short/good spot in line.
Has there ever been a leak anywhere in your house? Yeah, under our dishwasher.
Have you ever slipped in the shower? No, thankfully.
Have you ever made any decorative crafts? If so, are they displayed? I’ve attempted stuff in the past, but no I don’t have anything I’ve done displayed.
Is it very humid where you are right now? No.
What is the most suggestive thing someone has said to you? There’s been a lot of instances like that.
Do you have friends who you playfully flirt with? Not anymore.
Doesn't the Z in the Bzoink logo look like an L to you, too? I’m not familiar with the logo.
Did you ever take that 5000 question survey that was circulating Tumblr? Yeah, most of it. I’m actually almost done; I should just bite the bullet and finish it already it.
Have you ever had to change a zipper in your favorite article of clothing? I’ve never attempted to.
Do you prefer buttons or zippers in general? Zippers.
Did your grandma have a box full of pretty buttons? Aw, this reminds me of the tin of cookies she had that actually had like sewing supplies and other random stuff inside instead of cookies. The disappointment was very real every time I found one of those cookie-less tins around the house, haha.
What's the most exotic spice in your spice rack? I don’t think we have any exotic spices.
Do buttons tempt you to press them? Nah. I’d worry about what it was for.
Do you have a favorite television host? I like Ryan Seacrest.
What's your opinion on celebrity chefs? I don’t have much of an opinion about them.
Back when it first started, did you watch ANTM? Yeah, I’ve watched several seasons. I watched the newest ones a few years ago with Rita Ora and then when Tyra came back as well.
Did you know, that there was even a Finnish version of ANTM? I’m not surprised.
Are you accident prone? Kinda.
Have you ever broken something really valuable? Yes.
What do you see as timeless? My favorite songs from various decades.
What is something that you own, that has sentimental value? All my giraffe stuffed animals.
Have you ever had your own website? I’ve made simple ones back in the day that you could make for free. What's something that you finished recently? A bowl of ramen.
What's the smallest town you recall visiting? This random town in California that my grandparents randomly decided to stay at one year when they came to visit. They found an RV park there and I guess the price was reasonable, but the town itself was very small and out in the middle of nowhere.
What's the longest distance you've had to go to work or school? Every school I attended, including the community college and UC I went to, was local and close by.
Would you learn a new language, if you didn't share one with your lover? Yeah.
Do you have friends who are constantly tagging you in challenges on FB? No.
When it comes to chocolate, do you prefer nougat, jelly or caramel filling? I’m not a big fan of filling in my chocolate.
Are you more concerned about winning than just participating? No.
Has somebody you know taken their own life? Some former classmates and acquaintances.
Do you prefer onions, leeks or chives? Chives.
What's the most adult thing you have to do every day? Hm. There isn’t really an “adult thing” that I have to do everyday.
What's the most immature thing you like to do every day? Uhh. I don’t know. I wouldn’t really describe the things I like to do everyday as “immature.”
Have you seen the movie, Clue? If so, isn't it fab? I think I’ve seen parts of it.
Do your cheeks get flushed easily? Yes.
Are there any social cues you miss entirely? I think I understand social cues pretty well.
When someone doesn't smile back at you, what's your first thought? Maybe they’re just focused on something else and deep in thought. *shrug*
Is there a person who melts your heart just by looking at you? My doggo.
Have you ever had tom kha kai? I don’t know what that is.
Have you, or anyone you know ever been rude to a server? I haven’t, but yes I’ve known people who have been. I feel so bad when people treat servers, retail workers, etc badly. People can be just be so damn rude.
What's something you're opinionated and very vocal about? I tend to keep a lot to myself and not speak up much about things. ^When's the last time you had to verbally defend your stance? Hmm.
Have you ever played BitLife? Nope.
What's something you regularly order online? Clothes.
Do you often make friends online? I used to.
Do people ever try to get something from somebody through you? Not generally, but yeah it has happened before.
What do you think when you see a couple holding hands? I don’t really think much about it.
Is there anything you're forced to share with someone else? My living space? I’m perfectly fine with that. I love living with my family.
What's something stripy that you own? My Adidas stuff with their signature 3 stripes.
How about something polka dotted? I don’t think I have anything with polkadots.
What is something you find absolutely appalling? Abuse.
Do you like elevators? Not especially, but I don’t have a choice since I can’t take the stairs.
What's the first thing that comes to mind when I say "midnight madness"? Uhhh.
When you're angry, does it ever get physical? Never.

Every time the Kardashian/Jenner clan actually got political
Picturing Kendall Jenner stopping a fashion shoot to join a protest IRL like in that terrible Pepsi ad requires a bit of imagination considering you can count the number of times she’s spoken out about causes on one hand. The same goes for other members of the Kardashian/Jenner clan.
Kendall and Pepsi were rightfully dragged over the ad that dropped Tuesday that showed her joining a vague protest filled with diverse young people and suggested Pepsi just might be the thing to save us from all our problems.
Despite whatever intentions Kendall may have had when agreeing to take a bunch of money to star in the tone-deaf ad, being political isn’t part of her family’s brand. We did some digging and rounded up the times any of the sisters (and momager Kris) have used their platforms to support political movements in recent years. It’s a small showing, really, minus Kim Kardashian’s pro-Hillary Clinton and anti-police violence tweets.
SEE ALSO: Here are the funniest reactions to Kendall Jenner's terrible 'woke' Pepsi ad
Kim K
Kim Kardashian has by far been the most politically active family member on social media. She, alongside most of the family, supported Clinton during the presidential campaign.
So proud of the women & men who stood up for what is right & are determined to make this world a better place for our children pic.twitter.com/c8XvfdMGpW
— Kim Kardashian West (@KimKardashian) January 22, 2017
But as far the rest of the clan goes (excluding Caitlyn Jenner who supported Donald Trump), Kim has been the only one to take things a step further than the presidential election.
So sad! The senate voted against background checks being needed to buy guns. So terrorists on fbi's wanted lists can legally still buy guns

Whether retweeting tweets about transgender rights, police brutality, supporting gun control legislation or throwing shade at President Donald Trump's travel ban, Kim has participated in national conversations on social media.

Additionally, the media mogul has gone beyond a mere 140 characters or Instagram post to share more information about other issues. To bring awareness to Armenian genocide denial, Kim wrote on her website extensively criticizing the Wall Street Journal for running an ad denying the genocide. Her post eventually appeared in a full page ad in The New York Times, paid for by supporters of the Armenian Educational Foundation.
Kim's epic post where she called out Armenian Genocide denial was printed by the NYtimes!!! Proud @KimKardashian 💛✊🏼 pic.twitter.com/PrarlgPKdA
— FELIPE (@MolestMeKardash) September 18, 2016
Kim wrote a similar letter in a blog post about #BlackLivesMatter following the deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile in 2016.
"I want my children to grow up knowing that their lives matter. I do not ever want to have to teach my son to be scared of the police, or tell him that he has to watch his back because the people we are told to trust—the people who "protect and serve"—may not be protecting and serving him because of the color of his skin," she wrote. "We must peacefully use the power of our voices and the strength of our numbers to demand changes in the judicial system so that brutality doesn't ever go unpunished."
Kourtney and Khloé
The oldest Kardashian sister, Kourtney, stays away from speaking up politically, spare a post in support of Clinton. Khloé, has said she doesn't think it's her place to speak up about political issues.
“With politics I’ve learned to keep my opinions to myself, for once in my life. It’s not that I would never talk about it, but it’s that nobody cares about what I have to say about that," she told New York Magazine.
All of this in the news today breaks my heart 💔
— Khloé (@khloekardashian) January 29, 2017
"It’s not going to sway anybody in any direction, and if so, they’re probably young kids that should do their own research about who they want to vote for," she explained.
Kendall
Despite her interest in supporting gun control laws, the closest Kendall has come to anything overtly political online recently was also her support for Clinton as well as calling on people to register to vote.

— Kendall (@KendallJenner) November 7, 2016
Beyond Clinton, the 21-year-old's foray into any politics talk was limited to support of Black Eyed Peas' "Where Is The Love?" campaign, and tweets that call upon prayers for places including Brussels, Paris, Lebanon and Baghdad.
#PrayForLebanon #PrayForBaghdad#PrayForJapan#PrayForParis#PrayForMexico

Kylie
Nineteen-year-old Kylie, on the other hand, is still realizing things and has stuck with spreading the word about ... chemtrails. Maybe Kylie is trying to make tin hats fashionable?

Kris
As far as what the head of the household has to say, it's been relatively mild. In case you hadn't spotted a trend of Clinton-spurred commentary, Kris had something to say after the elections in 2016.
"Today we must continue to stand for what we believe in: love, acceptance, equality, fairness and respect for all," she tweeted. "We mustn't be divided. We must reach out & hold on to each other ... To our friends, families, communities who share our common goals of unity, compassion & faith."
I will continue to #spreadlove and fight hate at all costs.
— Kris Jenner (@KrisJenner) November 9, 2016
Additionally, the matriarch has spoken up about conflicts around the world including Syria.
We must not ignore this crisis of humanity. My heart breaks for the people for Aleppo... 💔 pic.twitter.com/LyPSYmo8RS
— Kris Jenner (@KrisJenner) December 15, 2016
"My heart breaks for the families torn apart, the millions of children who deserve safety + peace, but are surrounded by death + destruction," she tweeted before dropping links to places to donate.
But what about 2020?
When it comes to the 2020 presidential race, it's safe to say most of them are on board with discussing possible candidates.
Mr West!!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/NuLlx9MnYT

— Kourtney Kardashian (@kourtneykardash) August 31, 2015
Who knows what 2020 will bring, but if anything, we can pray for no more "political" Pepsi ads until then.

New from Kevin Wozniak on Kevflix: The Top 25 Movies of the 2010s
We’re finally here. The 2010s are officially over (and have been for almost two weeks now) and what a decade it was. When the decade began, I was in my final semester of film school at DePaul University in Chicago. Now, ten years later, I run my own website as a movie critic. Did I see myself in this position when the decade started? Absolutely not. I still can’t believe this is something I get to do and something I will continue to do for the unforeseeable future.
When it came to making this list and what movies made the list, I looked at a number of factors. I looked at the movies I’ve revisited the most over the years. I looked at the movies that had the biggest emotional impact on me. I looked at the movies that I felt were important to cinema and movies that were important to me. I looked at movies that made me go, “wow”, and movies that I simply love. Like all of the “Best of the Decade” lists, this was incredibly hard to make and this is a list that if you asked me rank these movies again in a month, it would probably change. But for now, here are my picks for the best movies of 2010s.
25. AVENGERS: ENDGAME (Anthony and Joe Russo, 2019)
After eleven years and over twenty movies, the Russo Brothers gave us a fitting conclusion that is as big and epic as movies get.
24. WARRIOR (Gavin O’Connor, 2011)
A deeply emotional spots drama about family and forgiveness coupled with realistic, crushing MMA scenes.
23. TOY STORY 3 (Lee Unkrich)
Even with a fourth installment, Toy Story 3 still manages to be a sweet and touching end to Andy’s journey with Woody, Buzz, and the gang.
22. POPSTAR: NEVER STOP NEVER STOPPING (Akiva Schaffer & Jorma Taccone, 2016)
The funniest movie of the decade also features base-shattering, smartly written rap songs.
21. MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – FALLOUT (Christopher McQuarrie, 2018)
The best action movie of the decade and the peak of Tom Cruise’s insanity.
20. BLACK SWAN (Darren Aronofsky, 2010)
Darren Aronofsky’s psychological horror film features career-best work from Natalie Portman.
19. INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS (Joel and Ethan Coen, 2013)
Another Coen classic, this time about a struggling folk singer who just can’t catch a break.
18. THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL (Wes Anderson, 2014)
Wes Anderson’s masterpiece is one of the most gorgeous movies of the decade.
17. A STAR IS BORN (Bradley Cooper, 2018)
Bradley Cooper was a one man wrecking crew as he produced, co-wrote, starred, and directed this remake of a Hollywood classic that he made his own.
16. MAD MAX: FURY ROAD (George Miller, 2015)
An insane, non-stop thrill ride from the great visionary George Miller.
15. SPOTLIGHT (Tom McCarthy, 2015)
A riveting, disturbing procedural.
14. LA LA LAND (Damien Chazelle, 2016)
Chazelle won a well-deserved Oscar for his lovely L.A. musical.
13. SPRING BREAKERS (Harmony Korine, 2013)
Harmony Korine’s spring break nightmare featuring a legendary performance by James Franco.
12. THE IRISHMAN (Martin Scorsese, 2019)
Martin Scorsese’s three-and-a-half-hour crime epic is a somber look at loyalty and regret as we get old.
11. INCEPTION (Christopher Nolan, 2010)
A mind-blowing crime thriller with the best final shot of the decade.
And now, the top ten movies of the 2010s.
10. THE AVENGERS (Joss Whedon, 2012)
The 2010s will forever be remembered for the Marvel Cinematic Universe and though Endgame ended it with a bang, it was 2012’s The Avengers that made this universe what it ended up being. Five movies came together into one in a seamless fashion thanks to writer/director Joss Whedon, who effortlessly blends humor and action within the stellar cast. The Avengers changed the game forever.
9. HEREDITARY (Ari Aster, 2018)
No movie this decade haunted me more than Ari Aster’s debut, Hereditary. The best horror film of the decade is more than just scares and is really a look at a grief-stricken family drama about dealing with a horrific tragedy. Toni Collette is masterful as the mother of the family who slowly begins to crumble as she dives further into the life of her recently deceased mother, giving one of the best performances of her career and the decade. Aster made a movie that will crush your heart and scare the hell out of you.
8. LINCOLN (Steven Spielberg, 2012)
The 2010s were a great decade for Steve Spielberg. This was a decade where Spielberg focused a lot on political stories, making a series of films I like to call his Amendment Trilogy. This trilogy kicked off with 2012’s Lincoln and what a way to start it off. This is stately look at Abraham Lincoln trying to emancipate slaves and end the Civil War is a gorgeous and captivating film. Led by an Oscar-winning performance by Daniel Day-Lewis, who embodies the sixteenth president in a way no one else could, Lincoln is stunning work for Spielberg and ushered in a new stage in his career.
7. GET OUT (Jordan Peele, 2017)
The best original screenplay of the decade belongs to Jordan Peele’s Get Out. This darkly funny horror satire about black life in white America is a startling eye opener, as Peele looks at a black man (Daniel Kaluuya, giving an acting class in nuance) spends the weekend at his white girlfriend’s house until things go awry. There are scenes that will have you laughing and scenes that will shock you and Peele balances the tones like a true pro. This is the best debut film of the decade and film that only gets better the more I watch it.
6. THE WOLF OF WALL STREET (Martin Scorsese, 2013)
The Wolf of Wall Street is balls-to-the-walls chaos. A film of non-stop drugs, sex, money, and debauchery, and it all came from a 72-year-old Martin Scorsese. Leonardo DiCaprio gives a career-best performance as Jordan Belfort, a stock-broker who rose to the top of the game, only to lose everything in a heap of drugs and crime. Much like another Scorsese masterpiece, Goodfellas, Scorsese paints a portrait of the worst kind of people. Mean people who are only in love with money, greed, and doing whatever the hell they want. Yet we love every single one of them and want to join Belfort’s firm. Scorsese had one hell of a decade, but The Wolf of Wall Street was his best.
5. CREED (Ryan Coogler, 2015)
How do you reinvent a historic franchise? That’s what Ryan Coogler did with Creed, a continuation of the Rocky franchise that also launched a new film series and made Michael B. Jordan a star. What Coogler does best with Creed is find heart of the story and the heart of the Rocky franchise. This has always been a franchise about friendship, family, never giving up, and finding yourself and that’s what he made here, as we watch Adonis Creed (Jordan) try to make a name for himself in the shadow of his father and Rocky (Sylvester Stallone, who hasn’t been this good since the original Rocky). Coogler added a great visual style, a killer soundtrack, and tons of emotion to make Creed endlessly rewatchable and the biggest surprise of the decade.
4. MONEYBALL (Bennett Miller, 2011)
Brad Pitt gives the best performance of his illustrious career in Bennett Miller’s Moneyball. He plays Oakland A’s General Manager Billy Beane, a man who builds his team around the idea of buying runs not players, something completely different from every other baseball team. But more than that, Moneyball is a movie about man who loves baseball with all his heart, yet anytime he gets close to a field, things go wrong for him. This is a movie about taking chances and accepting your failures. This is one of the best baseball movies ever made and there is barely any baseball action. This is all about what happens inside the dugout and what goes on in the back office and thanks for stellar directing and a smart screenplay, it’s more exciting than any baseball action would be.
3. DUNKIRK (Christopher Nolan, 2017)
If there was a director who owned the 2010s, that man was probably Christopher Nolan, who kept pushing the boundaries of cinema with every movie he made, whether it was how it was written or the scale of the film. In under two hours, Nolan showed us how masterful he is at understanding space and scale while also making a film that transcends convention to make Dunkirk, one of the greatest war movies ever made. This is a relentless movie about a group of soldiers trying to survive the attacks at Dunkirk during World War II. Nolan does this by showing us happenings on land, the sea, and the air, all being shown in different time frames, while never showing us the enemy once. My heart was racing the entire film and I was in complete awe of Nolan’s technical brilliance here, while also making us care for these soldiers and their survival. Dunkirk is Nolan’s crowning achievement as a director.
2. WHIPLASH (Damien Chazelle, 2014)
I remember the first time I saw Whiplash. It was an early morning screening on the second day of the 2014 Sundance Film Festival. From the opening shot of Andrew Neiman (Miles Teller, in a breakout performance) practicing on his drum-kit to the epic, earth-shattering finale, I knew Whiplash was a truly special movie. Damien Chazelle’s sophomore effort is a war film is a music room. A blistering, brutal look at what it takes to be perfect and asking the question of how far is too far? JK Simmons gives the best supporting actor performance of the decade as Fletcher, the tyrant music teacher to Andrew who pushes him to his limit. In an era of participation trophies and effort medals, Whiplash comes along and tells you to shove it. To be the best, you myst be willing to push yourself to beyond what you can think. You must give every ounce of blood, sweat, and tears to get what you want and failure is not an option. This is a movie that will kick your ass and have your heart racing and palms sweating from minute one. Chazelle made an exhilarating masterpiece on his second try.
1. THE SOCIAL NETWORK (David Fincher, 2010)
The Social Network is not only the best movie of the decade, but it is the most important one as well. David Fincher’s account of the invention of Facebook and the controversy that followed is a movie that has not only held up, but improved over the years, as our dependency on technology has increased throughout the decade This is a movie that captures everything about today’s society. Aaron Sorkin’s rapid-fire, impeccable screenplay about one man’s rise to the top by losing everything around him, including his closest friends, is an all-timer. Sorkin’s words are a spark off the page and are more exciting than most action movies. Fincher’s work behind the camera has never been better. This is the best work of Fincher’s career. A culmination of everything he has done in his career, both visually and narratively, giving us striking images while utilizing the quick editing and Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross’ score (the best of the decade) perfectly in the film. The cast, led by Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, Armie Hammer, and Justin Timberlake, is perfect, giving life to Sorkin’s words in their own creative, genius way. There is no film that represents our current time in history like The Social Network. It is a film that years from now, even decades, people will look back and see what America was at this time. It is the best film of the decade.

Lindas Book Obsession Interviews LAUREL SAVILLE “
“Beneath the Trees”
My heart felt thanks for the wonderful questions that Laurel Saville was willing to honestly answer. Thank you for your generosity during the giveaway to “Beneath the Trees” on Lindas Book Obsession.
Q+A
Questions: Linda Answers:Laurel Saville
Laurel Saville and Linda
Linda,
Thank you again for your review of my book, the giveaway, and for sharing a Q+A. Answers to your great questions are below.
Laurel,
Thank you so much in the participation of the giveaway of “Beneath the Trees” and your wonderful interview:
Linda:
Are any of the characters in your novel based on any one that you personally know in your life?
Laurel:
No, the characters usually start from the mish mash of things I collect in my mind over time — random news stories, fragments of people I’ve encountered, personal experiences, alternate lives I’ve imagined for myself. The characters then grow on the page as I put them into situations that drive the plot of the book forward. Before long, it feels like I’m just following the characters around and recording their thoughts and actions.
Linda:
What is your motivation for writing “Beneath the Trees?”
Laurel: My last book, “North of Here,” began with an idea about a young girl growing up with a backwoods sort of father. I had some thoughts about exploring her non-traditional upbringing and where that led her. As I began trying to figure out who this character was, my writing took me to her parents first. This process became “North of Here,” where the young girl appears only at the very end and as a baby. So, “Beneath the Trees” was an attempt to go back and give that girl a book of her own, because she’s an interesting enough character to carry an entire story.
Linda
Are you planning to write another book and if so can you tell us about it?
Laurel: There are always ideas simmering, and I’m always sketching and scribbling and thinking. I do have a book I’ve started, but it’s far from ready to discuss.
Linda:
What would you like the reader to come away with after reading your book?
Laurel:
A recent Amazon reviewer wrote: “This book inspires you to be a little less judgmental and a lot less busy.” I think this comment sums things up in a rather lovely way.
Linda:
How do you balance your life as an author, family, etc. What do you do for relaxation?
Laurel:
I’m not sure I do! I write books, teach classes, do corporate communications work, and am also a dog trainer offering classes and private sessions, so I am constantly shifting gears, direction, and mindsets. For fun and relaxation, I tend to head into the outdoors, whether that’s into the garden or up a mountain or into a body of water, on foot, with a backpack, on a bike or in a kayak. Solitude, with just the company of my dog, is the most restorative for me. It is important, I think, to remember that balance is not stasis, so I do embrace the shifting around that both balance and my life require.
Linda:
I love the way you bring up rescued animals, do you have any animals that you have rescued?(personally)
Laurel :Yes! I have worked with a few rescue organizations, and am currently a very active volunteer with the Seattle Animal Shelter. I have had several rescue dogs myself and have helped place many dogs, cats, chickens, and ducks. As I write this, I am sharing my office with my rescue dog and a bedraggled rescue hen borrowing my dog’s crate while she’s waiting to go to her forever home, I’m looking at my 3 rescue ducks in the yard,, and I have one rescue cat curled up nearby.
Linda:
How do you suggest that women be treated in an equal way to men?(In the academic and business world?)
This is the best and funniest thing I’ve ever read on the topic. She says it far better than I ever could: https://medium.com/@ annevictoriaclark/the-rock- test-a-hack-for-men-who-dont- want-to-be-accused-of-sexual- harassment-73c45e0b49af
