i'm seeing three times as many people bitching in the tag about the very idea that someone might not like this breed than i see people actually expressing unambiguous dislike for this breed

So The Way of Kings was just published for the first time in Portugal and I already can't stand Portuguese Sanderson fans that have read the book before in English. They keep complaining about the translation, saying they should have left pretty much all of the specific lore and worldbuilding terminology in English because it sounds awkward in Portuguese. And like, OF COUSER IT DOES. It's a translation of a fantasy series, the terms are going to sound silly no matter what. Even if I agree that there were choices in translation that could have been better, overall it wasn't a bad job. The translator is, in fact, a guy who has already done plenty of other high fantasy book translations in the past like A Song of Ice and Fire and Realm of the Elderlings so it's someone pretty experienced.

What these morons that want everything to stay in English can't understand is that a lot of stuff just is not going to make sense for people who have no knowledge of English! Not translating the "son son" part of "Szeth Son Son Vallano" takes away the meaning of his name! It would sound just like any random surname, when in fact it is really important to understand that the Shin names include their parent's or grandparent's name. People who don't know English don't know what "son" means so yes, you have to translate that part of the name.

Honestly, after 8 years without a single Brandon Sanderson book being published in Portugal, I expected the fans to rejoice that more people in our country are going to be able to experience the wonder that is The Stormlight Archive, but no, it's just complaining.

in conclusion WE ARE SO FUCKING BACK. resurrection and avp will probably always be tied for my favorites and tbh I would rank 2 a little higher as well, but this was solidly middle of the pack which is a gargantuan fucking improvement. the main thing is that it was Actually Recognizably An Aliens Movie which, after the prometheus/covenant nightmare, is honestly the highest praise i can give. thank GOD

i think drakengard's largest fault isn't that it is a 'terrible to play game' but rather that the action available to you is along very simplified movesets. As far as action games go it is fairly shallow. Early on especially feels 'bad' because your combos are limited to short strings until you upgrade a weapon and for the most part, your defensive capabilities are limited too, and often affect your camera which is mostly where that clunkyness comes from (this is specifically about the ground combat - flying is decently robust).

Game is real simple to play but the levels and encounters are (mostly) well designed and it, overall, plays well. I've def played much worse from "better" games

saying that anya should've talked to swansea first instead of curly is extremely weird and borderline mysogynistic because if you think that she should've went to the buffest and the oldest guy on the tulpar for 'safety',it says more about you then it does for the game.

Anya did not need 'saving' she didn't need a man to come and save from her misery disney princess style,she wasn't a damsel in distress.

And plus Anya DID tell swansea,in the cockpit where jimmy found them talking. Swansea did know about what was happening, yet chose to not get involved until it was too late,plus the only reason he chased Jimmy with an axe was due to Daisuke,NOT Anya.

What she needed was simply, intervention. Anya was aboard the tulpar not for vacationing,she was there for her job,a formal duty where she expected everyone else to remain professional as well.

I hate how the fandom has turned her into her demise. how all of the art I've seen of her simply minimize her character into what had happened to her,she is not just a victim of rape. she is the victim of ignorance,capitalism,and failure as well. and she is not just a victim.
