Flashing lights warning also noose warning (Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3)
This story is fiction but that doesn’t mean everything is made up [Diese Geschichte ist Fiktion Doch deswegen ist nicht alles an ihr erfunden] —And now Dusk arrives on this horizon... [Und jetzt Dunkelheit liegt sich über die Lande] The nocturnal tragedy, dashing towards the end The seventh horizon: Märchen [Denn die Ende entgegen, eine rechtliche Rachetragödie der sebte horizont: Märchen] 『Who』 am I? There are blanks in my accounts; That pure white page [hair] is stained by dusk I was at the bottom of the well When I came to looking up at the sky. The cute girl [Mädchen] I was embracing opened her mouth
“Let’s take revenge” she whispered And her tone sounded somewhat familiar For what and for whom— I couldn’t remember And I simply followed my impulse... Faces contorted in pain; voices screaming in grief Within shudders and regret... Ah, revenge is due to sin, so accept it in solemn silence— It’s too late for laments! At last, the curtains draw upon the 777 [comedy] Leading from the forest [memento mori] to the well [Id] The seven actresses [Schauspielerinnen]! “Now, let us have the beautiful dead princesses on stage.” Now that death has come No matter how many regrets you have, it’s too late My lady [Fräulein], you are alone [Du bist Allein] A corpse wandering the paths of night A story [roman] met by chance, ah! This must be destiny as well A small mouth [Mundelein], seven pains [Sieben Pein] Weave them while you don’t forget, come now— “Come, try to sing...” Come... come... come the night... The seven fairytales...lalala... [Kam... kam... die nacht kam... Das Sieben Märchen... lalala...] Seven fairytales that begin in the grave A paradoxical trap dwelling at the bottom of the well [Id] The author of the tales, armed with intentional lies Weaves fantasies of disorder Within a world [mosaic] interwoven with light and darkness Love and hatred overflow I feel like I once loved someone; The flames of hatred dance wildly... I feel like I’ve been loved by someone as well... ↑ Ah, but that must've just been your imagination! ↑ (↑ It wasn't just your imagination! ↑) If you hate someone, then let me help you with your revenge!

One thing about all this sudden Supernatural talk is it’s reminding me how much I  enjoyed it in college and I’ve rewatched the first 5 seasons a few times
So here are things that I remember, just off the top of my head, being genuinely good and having emotions about:
-The first Christmas episode!!! With the pagan gods eating people! Kid flashbacks (I don’t think it was the first one, but there hadn’t been many at that point)! The fact that they don’t know the words to any christmas carols and it’s funny but also painful!
-Sam’s First Death. So good. Didn’t see it coming. Aldis Hodge is there. Best death of the show. Dean sitting with the body. Peak supernatural
-The one with the cannibals where everyone has a West Virginia accent but it’s set in like Brainerd MN. The emotion I associate with this is a feeling of real missed opportunity. Do you know how much I want to see a family of cannibals in norwegian sweaters saying “Awfercute, dontcha just wanna eet these guys right up?”
-That ONE fucking EPISODE with the INCEST KIDS living in the WALLS. I have never gotten over this episode and I never will. I know for a fact someone has been living in my walls ever since seeing this episode. Look, I know the X-Files did it first but INCEST BABIES IN THE WALLS????!!!
-I know it’s over quoted but “I’m the one who gripped you tight and raised you from perdition” is a baller intro line and a hell of a way to establish a relationship. like what do you say to that
-Castiel’s arc towards humanity was so fun to watch. They should have let Collins and Ackles do more comedy bits bc it was great. Like Collins was like “I’m going to be the straight man, but I’m going to play is SO straight that it comes around to comedic again, and i”m going to force my scene partner to then be the straight man” and as a flex I respect this
-I know they way overplayed the “fans” bit, but the first episode where they find Chuck was SO FUN I did not see it coming
-Bobby’s great. all the good parts of my uncles without being republican.
-Remember when Sterling K Brown was on this show? Wild.
-I liked the one where Dean thinks he has a kid, bc he’d actually be an interesting dad, and I sort of thought they were going there with the show and I’m bummed they didn’t. Like I wanted him to adopt somebody. Also I think that one had the demon kids who like suck your soul out through your neck which was creepy
-Fucking Mystery Spot is a classic for a reason
-The one with the tv shows, when Sam has to do a herpes ad. Like they introduced a trickster character and understood 100% that a trickster character in 2009 or whatever will make you be in a herpes ad.
-the thing where war made people think other people were demons? good story.
-in one episode they had a guy die in a deep fat fryer and that was fucked up
-every time an under-5 got to scream and die and then you could see them breathe or their eyelids move. I appreciate the little things.
-look, it’s a show that said “we’re going to make a show about American Midwestern Masculinity and also there’s ghosts” and you know what they did that thing
-A+ use of Knocking on Heavens Door, Wanted Dead or Alive (that scene was SO GOOD), I think Spirit in the Sky? and look it’s overplayed but Carry On My Wayward Son has always been an ultimate Road Trip song. The music supervisors (at least during the seasons I watched) really were like “let me grab my white dad’s mixtape” and as someone who grew up with excellent white dad mixtapes, I appreciate this.
-Lauren Cohan looks like Annie Murphy and also the gal who plays Margaret on the Crown. what does it mean

So the first chapter is taking me longer than expected bc life is just being.... stressful and busy, but here is another smidge of my cronus fanfic.
He opened another door and turned on the lights.
It… looked like a sound booth with a few instruments and microphones.
“This is my music studio.” A giant, toothy smile was on his face when you looked at him. “Pops really doesn’t like my music so I do it all down here where he can’t hear it.” He looked a little sheepish, sitting down in the lone chair in the room next to a keyboard and a piano. “But this is where the Cronus Ampora magic happens… or where it would happen if magic wasn’t fake as shit. Where- Where the Cronus Ampora music happens. There we go, that’s what I meant to say.”
“Cool.” You nodded appreciatively. “Very cool.”
You were a goddamn word smith.
“Did you check out my soundcloud?” He asked hopefully.
Oh crap….
“Yes, yes I did check out your soundcloud.” You said with what you hoped was a straight face.
“What’d you think?” He looked excited, but let out a nervous chuckle. “No one I know takes the time out to actually listen to it so I don’t get to ask much.”
“Uhhhh….” You racked your brain for something to say about it other than, “It was very sexual.” Shit… you really said that out loud didn’t you.
Cronus rolled his eyes. “Yeah, that’s the point. Popular music is usually about love or sex, something like ninety-ish percent of the top billboard songs are about sex. Sex sells. People like sex. And let’s be real… that’s kind of my whole deal, I don’t know if you’ve noticed.”
You honestly didn’t know how to respond to that. Sure… a lot of songs on the radio had sexual themes… but…. “Did you… Did you actually research that? Is that an actual fact or like… something you’re guessing at?”
“No, it’s featured in about sixty percent of top hits on Alternia, but if you look at the whole quadrant system, that’s in about ninety five percent of top hits. And I wanted to see what sort of musical themes made up human music too…. You guys are at about ninety percent about erotic love themes in your most popular music.” He sort of shrugged, but waggled his eyebrows when your eyes met. “What can I say… It’s a compelling subject. And if you ever want a course in alien anatomy, kitten, you know I’m willin’ to tea–”
“What did I say about dialing the horniness back.”
He rolled his eyes again. “Fiiine. But even you have to admit you basically set yourself up for that one.”
“Committed and happy relationship.” You leaned against the wall, noting that there was still some eggnog in your mug (and here you had thought that it’d all spilled on you when you fell). “So, I see a keyboard, a piano, a guitar… how many instruments can you play?”
Cronus began mumbling, counting on his fingers, “Including the human ones I learned, like five? I think? Six if you count the synth.”
Holy shit.
“Holy shit. So you’re like… actually talented. I suppose you had to have some redeeming qualities other than just being pretty.” He squinted, and you amended, “Wow, that sounded a lot ruder than intended. I meant that that’s baller dude. That’s a lot of instruments and I’m very impressed.”
He flushed a little bit more, pleased grin showing off those shark teeth. He set the hot toddy on the top of the piano as he situated himself at his keyboard. “Do you wanna hear what I’m currently working on?”
Oh yay…. More alien sex music…. Fantastic.
But he was being so tolerable and open and crushing his music dreams on Christmas felt so wrong that you couldn’t help but manage a “sure, why the hell not?”
Cronus positively beamed, and his voice was so pretty, and the composition was decent, but the lyrics were just such garbage…. You made a game for yourself by counting the use of the word bulge… He’d said it over twenty times in a four minute period.
“And then the end is gonna go like this: Bulge, bulge, yank my bulge like you mean it.” He finished, looking over at you expectantly. Twenty three.
You tried to give him an encouraging smile, but you were pretty sure it looked like a grimace…. “How married are you to those lyrics?”
He raised an eyebrow.
“Like… how attached to those lyrics are you? They’re kind of….” You racked your brain for a good way to word it. “Sub-optimal.”
His face fell. “Oh….”
“It just didn’t feel… genuine? Like it felt performative even for a song.” Geez, you were really doing this weren’t you. Your department head had accused you of being too blunt on multiple occasions, and here you were proving him right. “Music wise, it was fun, and your voice is very nice…. But the lyrics seem forced. You already have a bajillion songs about sex, isn’t there anything else you want to sing about? Maybe express a genuine emotion? Like when you look at a flower or something, how does that make you feel? Or like when you’re staring up at the stars at night contemplating existence, or even- even your favorite food. Haven’t you ever tried to sing about those things instead? Or to tell a story?”
“Like… music can be such a magical medium. It’s so versatile, and you have so much potential if you’d just… I dunno, explore some more of that versatility, and get yourself out of that sexual lyrics only mindset.”
Cronus regarded you with a mixture of concern, disbelief, and what you really hoped was thoughtfulness. “Magic is fake as shit…. But I’ll… I’ll think about it. Maybe.”
He leaned back, expression relatively neutral as he looked you up and down (making you feel less uncomfortable than usual). “So, got any requests? More of that crispmas music?”
You shrugged, “I guess whatever you feel like playing? Although I’m really not feeling the whole eros thing right now so like…. I dunno.”
You were so fucking eloquent.
“C’mon, you always have strong opinions. Always.”
“Damn, B, that’s a lot of pressure to put on a bitch.” You replied, sliding down the wall to the floor. “Play me your prettiest non-sexual song.”
He just laughed. “Babe, all songs are sexual. Even if they don’t sound like they are, I can guarantee they’re about sex. Everything people do is about sex.”
You stared at him, dumbfounded by the coldest take you’d ever heard spoken aloud. Sure, you’d heard the argument before (usually by crusty old white authors), but you never thought anyone ever believed them.
“Is it though? Like this, right here. I’m here trying to be your friend in a non-sexual capacity, and my following you down here was not motivated by sex other than maybe the desire not to have sex with you… because I don’t know if you’ve picked up on many of the incredibly subtle hints I’ve been leaving for you like a little crumb trail, I don’t want to have sex with you. Period.”
Cronus pouted a little. “Okay, valid. Mean, but valid.”
You snorted, “That’s hardly the meanest thing I’ve said to you even tonight.”
“That’s very true. You’re very mean to me.” He batted his eyelashes at you.

okay so as is tradition I wrote down my thoughts of each song as I listened, and I’m gonna dump them all here as I guess a kinda review but without any kind of actual intelligence involved. idk if it counts as spoilers but I’d say maybe don’t read it if you haven’t heard the album yet? anyway here are my thoughts on song machine season one
please god let this readmore work
Strange Timez (Robert Smith) This really is perfect as the opening song of the album. It sums up the feeling perfectly and I love when Damon does his prose in songs... and even tho Robert Smith sings like six lines they're fucking baller
The Valley of The Pagans (Beck) I only heard the early leak of this song once so idk how similar or different it is to this final version... but oh my god this FUCKS HARD. 2D and Beck's vocals play well off each other, I like how it kinds toes the line between song and prose, I like how... busy? the instrumental is it fits really well. I also rly love the autotune on the chorus. I kinda wish it was longer but also it feels the perfect length. I just wanna listen to it on repeat
The Lost Chord (Leee John) Man this one starts out ETHEREAL. It has a similar kinda opening vibe to Strange Timez, along w some of the funk of Pagans, while also being entirely its own thing. its so funky and psychedelic and otherworldly... 2D's vocals seem different to any style he's sung in before, Leee John has a BEAUTIFUL voice that fits perfectly. I wanna get lost in this song
Pac-Man (Schoolboy Q) I absolutely love this song. this has been one of my favs since I first heard it, I love the kinda... bitter arrogant energy it has while also being funky as hell. and ofc Schoolboy Q's verse fits perfectly, and I rly like that the song p much ends on his last line
Chalk Tablet Towers (St Vincent) ngl I kinda like that 2D is usin a bit of autotune on some of these songs? I think it really adds to the vibe. this one actually sounds p similar to the stuff i get recommended on spotify, which I assume is bc of St Vincent bc my tastes are v adjacent to her kind of music. my only complaint is why didn't she get to sing solo... pls
The Pink Phantom (Elton John, 6LACK) This is tied for my fav of the Song Machine songs that have been released. I've always liked Elton's music, I love the vibe of this song, and all the piano. Elton's vocals in this are AMAZING I can't get over his voice. I like 6LACK's part a lot, I feel he gets a little overshadowed in this but his part balances the song out imo, and I cannot get enough of the part at the end where his vocals overlay 2D's it's just... chef's kiss
Aries (Peter Hook, Georgia) lmao I thought the start was just for the MV but no it really starts like that... I like this song, it feels like a good Driving Song, n kinda has Now Now vibes. man 2D likes singing about isolation huh. ngl I've never thought this track was Standout or anything but it's a good solid song and I like it and it gives me the vibes of sunshine in a thunderstorm
Friday 13th (Octavian) I really love the vibes of this song. it took me a couple listens to properly warm up to it, but now I really like it. again this feels like another driving song, but more one for when you're driving through a tunnel at night and the air is cold and you can see the stars when you finally emerge. the end of perks of being a wallflower but it's this song
Dead Butterflies (Kano, Roxani Arias) ok I am Weak for hearin the musicians comments being made into part of the song so I like that lmao. I'm not a huge fan of how slowly it starts but once it gets going it is really smooth. another song where I like 2D has some autotuning. kinda wish Roxani's part was a little longer. this feels like a continuation of the Driving Songs streak, this one is def for after midnight. probably in a car with someone you do not want to have feelings for
Desole (Fatoumata Diawara) This is my other tied fav Song Machine track so far. I am sooo glad they included the extended vers from the video, I'm not usually a fan of long instrumental outros but for this song it feels absolutely perfect. 2D's verses are cool, I love the mix of French and English. I absolutely adore Fatoumata's vocals on this song they are just. perfect. that being said WHY have they changed how 2D pronounces contraband in the first verse?? seriously. go back and watch the music vid and then listen to this. they changed it to sound more english and it's so WEIRD and I HATE it
Momentary Bliss (slowthai, Slaves) ahh... the one that started it all. I think? this is the last song on the standard cd, and I do kinda like that it was the first episode but the last song. its a nice bookend. it also feels a good way to end after the last few slower songs. like it's still kinda fuckin depressing lyrics-wise, or at least cynical, but it's way more upbeat about it. I like it. I'm ngl the thing slowthai did at that awards show has forever tainted this song for me a little lmao, but I can't deny it's a fucking banger and still really good
Opium (EARTHGANG) ohhh the percussion on this one is FUNKY. this is definitely a slow starter, and given it's the longest track on the album it has the space to be, but tbh I have a v short attention span so I will admit it lost me a little in the intro. but once the vocals start it really hooked me in. the song ended up goin in a direction I didn't expect, but I really like it. 2D doesn't show up until like halfway through and I don't even care it slaps so hard. this song def gives me Rocket Juice vibes. despite the slow start I am really into this song, I think it's one of the best on the album
Simplicity (Joan as Police Woman) this one has a nice laid-back chill energy. idk what the fuck 2D is mumbling but I'm into it. also a big fan of... whatever that wind? instrument is in the background. this song has an energy I can't quite describe but it's a very good energy. it sounds dumb but kinda... very earthy and natural? also wow it ends abruptly
Severed Head (Goldlink, Unknown Mortal Orchestra) firstly I wanna say Unknown Mortal Orchestra is a cool as hell name. after the more 'natural' vibes of the last song, this one feels almost futuristic. also 2D's... chorus? bit makes one hell of an impact. that image is gonna stay with me a while. this song almost feels quietly panicky. actually this song feels v relatable like anxiety-wise
With Love To An Ex (Moonchild Sanelly) I really love the cadence to Sanelly's vocals in this song. the frantic energy of the last song gives way to this kind of... mildly unearthly low but determined feel. it has a slightly ominous tone to it too. and god the ending instrumental swell is incredible. was 2D even on this song? do I care? this slaps
MLS (JPEGMAFIA, CHAI) also wanna say I love the name jpegmafia too. WOW this song is... a lot? the cutesy tone of the start, with lyrics that to me sound a lil barbed, going surprisingly seamlessly into the rap that's more upfront but still fits really well with the upbeat tune. also good GOD do I love the slightly unhinged laugh in this song. it feels like all the elements of this song shouldn't work together, but they do, and they work together really well
How Far? (Tony Allen, Skepta) Last but definitely not least... I love how darkly ominous this song is. It sounds weird to say but this feels reminiscient of Fire Coming Out Of The Monkey's Head? same kind of ominous orchestra and a narration warning of corruption. and I adore Tony Allen's vocals, they're brief but they add this perfect element. Demon Days and Humanz both had this kind of Cautionary Song right at the end, and while those two had slightly more upbeat songs as the actual finales, I think it works that this one doesn't. for a year consumed by a pandemic, government incompetence, and the protest of the people, it feels like a good note to end on. less of a finale... more a cliffhanger before season two. ending on the laugh of one of Damon's closest friends. I like that
IN SUMMARY considering this album was designed to be one-song-a-month, with no overarching narrative or structure, I think it fits together really well. it feels like waking up in a world where everything's different, pinballing between the sudden intense loneliness and isolation and the newly refreshed vigliance against those in power, before reaching the day's end and lulling into the night with the driving songs, having a moment of helplessness in the dark before dawn before waking up maybe not happier, but more accustomed to the strange new world. and then the deluxe tracks kinda show this new, almost jaded perspective on life after living in this weird limbo for so long, ending on an almost ominous note that questions what the future holds this feels probably the most indie rillaz has ever gone? but it is still very uniquely them. there is truly not a bad song on this album. imo this album in a way feels a little similar to the now now, but with the one thing I so dearly missed from that album: collaborators. I think this is possibly the first album that has a collaborator on every song, and I love it. I would argue, while every album has its own unique feeling and message, I think Demon Days, Humanz, and now Song Machine S1 kind of make up a trifecta of this kind of... Pure Gorillaz Essence? if I were to introduce someone to Gorillaz, it'd be through those three albums anyway in short: this album goes hard as hell, I love it, and I am really excited for season 2

🎶 💕 🏳‍🌈 ? :3c
hgfhfgh thank u for sending this!!!
~
I don’t normally talk about my linkin park hyperfixation because it’s deeply intertwined with my experiences of depression and fighting suicide and dealing with those I love fighting suicide. please please don't read if you don't feel up for it or read in chunks at your own pace.
~🎶 if your hyperfixation has songs/an ost, what is your favorite song from it?Obiv this is for my Linkin Park hyperfix -----It LITERALLY changes every time I go to listen to LP… today it was Little Things you Give Away for a good moment, but everything from they’re more famous songs In the End, Breaking the Habit, New Divide, ect ect I love and down to their more underground songs Blackbirds, she couldn't, and god the entire one more light album still hits fresh bc it doesn't have the “ive listened to this album for 5+ years” backbone that all the other albums and demos have. Especially love the reanimated album’s remix krwlng. In Between just came on rn and hell yeahghfhh fucking hell is that song good too. its easier to say which songs I DON’T like, which are I’m luke warm on High Voltage, the one song I know DJ Hann was the main composer of, which I feel a little bad about but that song just doesn’t hit for me.
real quick because this is absolutely connected to LP, Mike Shinoda’s music is fucking baller, from Fort Minor to his little-known/scattered remixes (He has a Gold Gun Girls remix that is beyond fascinating to me bc both the original and his version I absolutely love but they’re both so different and so similar at the same time? He really managed to get the heart of the song without it being the song which is something that still confounds me to this day). His Post Traumatic album in response to Chester’s death hits like a vengeful mountain. “What the Words meant” just... woof. For honorary mentions from the One More Light LP album: Battle Symphony, No One can Save me Now, Talking to Myself, HEAVY, Halfway Right, and Invisible hit fucking hard too.
💕 tell us about one of your favorite characters and why you like them!
For LP, both Chester and Mike have been huge inspirations to me, when I first got into them when I was 12 I named my first bunny after Chester (without realizing it). Them as people inspired me incredibly so---I watched all the LP Live behind the scenes recordings they did for fans during the tours and it really shows how happy and cheerful and loving they are with each other. One of my most powerful memories is whatever doc or video it was where they talked about after their first album they literally all cold turkey stopped drinking and smoking because they wanted to be better influence than influences were for them growing up. Most of the other band members were not as vocal/performative for the cameras and I know very little about them. I know Hann opened a toy store or something along those lines and none of it really appealed to me to delve further. They all seem to be incredibly kind people.
🏳‍🌈 do you have any headcanons (lgbt, race, neuro, etc) that are important to you?
For LP I don’t, in fact I’m very glad my entire “fandom” experience for LP was on youtube and I didn’t even know people shipped them together and thought of them as characters in that sense until I was older. Chester is very vocal about his past trauma's and the depression he suffered through his entire life and I’m not quiet about how much of his flavor of depression I resonate with. Every single song, every single breakdown, line, it echos words Ive said in other phrases in and out of my life. When I was 12 and got into them I just blindly appreciated the music but after relistening to them after 10+ years through this depression I feel like I understand what he went through more than I have any right to have confidence to say. A part of me believes that mike helped him with assisted suicide because I too came very close to seeking out assisted suicide (big fuck you to that post of “this person with chronic pain killed themselves via assisted suicide lets all romanticize how good and nice their death was while glossing over the fact she was very much an older person and that same message does not and should not translate to younger people who are suffering because there are more answers from medical and technology fields that can and should help them be happy with their life). It also fits with a few of mikes lines where mike feels like hes made the wrong decision, he just wants to know if what hes done is right and no one has his back (one song on the post traumatic album but I listen to that album on loop so the individual lines are a blur). Also I don’t really have an answer for how he could help produce OML album otherwise. I cant imagine reading those and singing along with those lyrics without knowing it. I feel like his “what the words meant” song has a half truth theme going on. The main message of that song that only those who been through that kind of suffering can understand chesters lyrics and message is the more sincere theme of that song. Linkin Park is so important to me, The strength Chester had to fight his depression to live to his 50s when I don’t think I would have made it to my 30s without TMS--which only got FDA cleared in 2016. His death in 2017 leaves a strong pain that he probably was unknowing of the treatment. The Strength Mike has for being Chesters friend with him thick and thin and having his back and wanting so desperately to help him through it and not to suffer, something I also resonate with for topics I don’t feel going into detail of.
I’m so sorry if this all hits hard. its very hard for me to talk about LP bc of how interconnected it is with rough topics.

3. Lover: GOD THIS ENTIRE SONG jsksks “My heart's been borrowed and yours has been blue, all's well that ends well to end up with you”
4. The Man: “If I was out flashin' my dollars I’d be a bitch, not a baller. They'd paint me out to be bad, so it’s okay that I’m mad.”

11. London Boy: “Stick with me, I'm your queen, like a Tennessee Stella McCartney on the Heath.”
12. Soon You’ll Get Better: I’ve listened to this one approximately three times this whole time bc it’s just Too Hard but probably “I'll paint the kitchen neon, I'll brighten up the sky, I know I'll never get it, there's not a day that I won't try.”
13. False God: “I know heaven's a thing, I go there when you touch me, honeyhell is when I fight with you.”
14. YNTCD: “Shade never made anybody less gay.”
15. Afterglow: “Why'd I have to break what I love so much?” (ouch)
16. ME!: “Livin' in winter, I am your summer.”
17. INTHAF: “You've been stressed out lately? Yeah, me too. Something gave you the nerve to touch my hand, it's nice to have a friend.”
18. Daylight: “I once believed love would be burnin' red, but it's golden.” (That whole bridge is the most hauntingly beautiful thing I’ve ever heard)

Since you did awesome with the song ask, how about 5 unusual Halloween movies?
2003FrOOOO good question let’s see if i can do this! so idk if we’re talking halloween-celebrating or just spooky/good for halloween, but i’ll do a mix.
5. Daemonium: Soldier of the Underworld: “In a universe where magic and technology coexist with humans and demons, a wizard becomes involved in a full-scale war with hell and its demonic inhabitants.” - This movie is in Spanish but that’s what subtitles are for baby! It’s a WILD ride. There may or may not be a bondage-themed villain with a yikes backstory. It’s not GOOD, but it lowkey does slap. CWs for gore, violence, miscarriage, and implied assault. DM me for more info!
4. TAG: “A woman is cast adrift into an increasingly bizarre set of alternate realities in which each scenario ends in bloody carnage.” - Again, another foreign language film (Korean this time) but another BALLER movie. This one is so good and def has some gay undertones! So you KNOW we into that. CWs: for gore, violence towards women, implied abuse, and sex work. also CW for one scene where a bunch of skeezy dudes are like waiting for a virtual prostitute and this guy is just really creepy and weird. DM me for more info!
3. I’m gonna be basic for this one but Halloweentown (All films): “Marnie and her kids get a big shock when they follow grandma home to Halloweentown - and find out they come from a family of witches. The town is the only place where supernatural beings can lead a `normal' life, but trouble is looming, and on her 13th birthday Marnie not only finds she is a witch, but that she and her family are involved in a fight against the evil that is threatening to take over the world.” - I LOVED halloweentown growing up, and I still do! (really you should watch the whole series but that’s beside the point. The soundtracks slap and who want to watch a young baby witch fuck shit up?
2. Monster House: “No adults believe three youths' (Mitchel Musso, Spencer Locke, Sam Lerner) assertion that a neighboring residence is a living creature that means them harm. With Halloween approaching, the trio must find a way to destroy the structure before innocent trick-or-treaters meet ghastly ends.” - why? it slaps. send tweet. Powerful heist energy.
1. Lastly, it’s not unusual, but it’s at the top of my list for movies to watch this Halloween! Train to Busan: “A man (Gong Yoo), his estranged daughter and other passengers become trapped on a speeding train during a zombie outbreak in South Korea.” - I’ll confess: I’m not very into horror films. I love a good thriller/action, but horror has never been my favorite. Still, I wanna give more movies like this one a try! It got amazing reviews, and I’ve heard amazing things about it.
Other notable mentions from this year’s Halloween watch list: Us (2019); Get Out (2017); Frankenweenie (2012); Haunted Mansion (2003 - Rewatch); Scooby-Doo and Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed (2002 and 2004 - rewatch bc nothing gives me more of a rush than seeing scrappy doo jailed for his crimes).
Thank you so much @joufancyhuh!

A Series of Nice Things bc We Deserve Them
Set in Eliot's 'I got drunk married to a sports superstar wat do' verse, co-starring aftg's Kevin Day but honestly if you’re just looking for some Nice Eliot & Quentin content after that dumpster fire of a finale, i welcome you with open arms;; verse tag is here, the tl;dr is el accidentally marries a Very Famous Sports Guy while drunk in vegas and shenanigans ensue and they fall in love for real. dedicated ofc to @im-possiblelimits ♥
The 'what am I fucking doing for the rest of my life if magic never comes back' fear comes creeping back on him.
He and Kevin have multiple important conversations.
Kevin Day gives the best fucking pep talks ever. Eliot walks away from every hard conversation with him wondering how he got so lucky.
 Eliot becomes a fashion designer
And hes fahcking BALLER at it !!!!!!!
He collaborates with Margo for a few collections; they become instant classics.
Margo models in like every show.
Eliot watches in Absolute pride.
Frankly???? El designs all his dresses for her specifically.
Routinely he either flies Quentin and Margo out to Chicago or goes to New York and crashes on Margo's couch.
Obviously Margo and Q stay in The Condo, in Eliot's old room which still houses a good portion of his stuff.
Once he starts raking in that Goöd designer cash, he gets them both stupid expensive gifts just cause.
"Eliot this bikini top is made from Swarovski fucking crystal"
"Eliot I CAN'T accept this case of Moët"
........"please just let me love you :( "
Of fuckin COURSE he gets box seats to a T Swift concert & takes Q along.
"How did you...?" "I'm making her a dress. Oh yeah, we're meeting tomorrow to consult and you're coming with." " .O."
This hurts extra good and cozy bc when Eliot moves from NY he makes Q promise him to always text him a singular emoji if he feels Bad(TM).
Eliot tells him that he doesn't care what time it is or what he has going on or even how bad Q feels, he'll drop just about anything.
El always texts back asking if hes up for a phone call. Usually he is; cue Eliot gently asking about what he ate last, how much he's slept, if he's taken his meds.
One time Q's completely despondent and Eliot starts racking his brain on what the next question should be when it just.......comes out of his mouth;;
I stay out too late. Got nothing in my brain. That's what people say...
"...I had no idea you knew that song."
Kevin totally hears him but thinks better of ever saying anything about it.
Margo however razzes the hell out of him (only lovingly)
Suddenly its Eliot taking Kevin to events instead of vice versa and everyone loves him
Eliot does some of his best sketch work at Kevin's practices.
Just practices tho, games are too high stakes and theres too many people around.
He always makes jokes at the end of the season about it being the end of the season for him too bc of that.
Eliot does try very very hard to balance attending exy games & practices and his own shit.
He's way more willing to go to a game than go to an event alone; he'd so much rather go with Kevin especially as he cuts his drinking back to almost nothing.
The exceptions tend to be when Margo (and Q) are in town. He's been known to bring them both.
Since its years later and his romantic feelings for Q are p much buried he gets a special kind of resentful about the fact that he can't just take Q to an event without it being An Issue(TM).
Even when it's the 3 of them, rumors fly. Eliot's extra conscious of his body language at that point and hates that he has to be.
He gets completely mortified one day bc of a hickey-slip that the press asks Kevin about.
"We think Q left it, what do you have to say?"
Kevin, raising his eyebrows: "No that was definitely me...."
Eliot, putting his head in his hands: "Ohhhhh my god....." -Can we get back to politics (please?)-
Q thinks the rumors are kind of funny He gets asked about it and hes just like "you've SEEN Kevin, right? Like......there's no competing with that, El's a lucky guy."
Really who doesn't think Kevin's hot?????? ofc Q’s not immune
Idk how but through sheer force of will Q and Kevin become friends
(or at least friendly-ish, which for Kevin? Fucking huge.)
Like obviously its nowhere near the level of friendship between Eliot and Q but Somethin noice happens there however many years later.
Q goes thru a bad breakup sometime down the line. Eliot asks Kevin if it's okay to fly him in.
Kevin patiently tells him that he doesn't need to ask that anymore.
Eliot's floored bc hes never actually been with a guy who was so secure????? It gives him a lot of feelings about being trusted and loved and accepted for who he is and how he expresses his affection.
Idk all I can think of is it being like Friday night and the 3 of them are on the couch together.
Q's sad and sleepy, his head on Eliot's lap, barely registering the Buffy episode El put on. Eliot's leaning against Kevin's shoulder, one hand holding his and the other absently playing with Q's hair, snarking lovingly every few minutes about the campiness.
Q apologizes to Kevin privately later on because oh god his head was just in his husband's lap and that's Super Weird, sorry....
That's probably about the time Kevin decides earnestly that Q's alright.
Idk how but SOMEHOW Eliot's left with a toddler for a minute and we all cry together in this chili's
I decided its Q's, let Q be a dad tbh. He's together with Eliot's makeup artist who was a single father before Q came into their lives.
Anyway Eliot’s sketching--like always. He hands over his notebook for color palette planning and a few colored pencils. "You wanna color with me?"
Everything's fine until bab starts Screamin.
(Gentle voice) "What's wrong?" [Screaming] "You hungry?" [No.] "Are you thirsty?" [No] "Are you tired?" [Soft affirmative noises] "Let's take a little nap then."
Eliot just picks bab up with so much care and love in his eyes, holding them gently and off on a mission to find either a guardian or a soft reclining chair.
Kevin witnesses all of this and is probably pretty sure he's never seen anything more wholesome in his damn life.
Kevin's most likely the one who suggests kids  (I'm guessing he's retired)
Eliot probably would have but he just doesn't even think about it?? And then Kevin says in so many words that he'd be a good father and Eliot just about loses it
I can't decide if their kid's definitely a jock or definitely not a jock. Maybe they're a dancer?
Regardless, they're both endlessly supportive
Eliot of fucking Course joins the PTA.
His gym buddies flip their collective shits.
He's really out here advocating for good sex ed & preserving arts in schools bc hes a fuckin hero
Also family vacations to Everywhere but especially beachy places!!

act 2:
like i said before, "our lady of the underground" is one my faves of the ost, so i was worried about what they'd do with it here... don't love it. super don't love having persephone be drunk and stumbling around the stage. i said before i love that her vibe here is free-spirited, but i don't think that needs to be at odds with her ost vibe of "woman who is in a position she doesn't love, but who loves her husband, who she knows does bad things, so she tries to do good things around him/behind his back/persuade him to do good things." she's complex in the ost, not so much here, i'm realizing. even the music in this version is boozy. bad. "papers" is another nice new song sung by hades -- again, almost every new hades/persephone song i love. it lays out that he's basically lawful evil -- "everything and everyone in hadestown i own, but i only buy what others choose to sell" is a HELL of a line. as is the case with a lot of the songs, i prefer the folksy vibe of the ost version of "if it's true," but as a statement piece and a part of a larger story, this new version fucking SLAMS. the progression from defeated sadboi to revolutionary, rousing the workers to stand and join him is pretty fucking baller. i gotta say i don't love the change in relationship of hades/persephone -- in the ost (like i've said before, i'm going off of the vibes of the ost, not the original musical, bc i've never gotten to see that), they were more of a couple that fought but deeply loved each other. like, they went around each others backs sometimes but ultimately came back to one another. in this one they kinda hate each other and seem stuck together by obligation. DON'T DIG IT. the chant reprise owns, which doesn't surprise me, bc the first chant also owned. as always, love everything about hades (even if his voice isn't as gravelly as greg brown's, i can't fault this guy for not smoking every cigarette on earth each day), and i love how he makes his final offer to orpheus by grabbing a stool and walking around and being like FUCKIN STEP UP BRAH. i praise again the use of the revolving stage to demonstrate orpheus walking through the dark unsure if eurydice is following him -- it looks so fucking good. OKAY SO THERE DID END UP BEING A TRICK :00000 THE WIKIPEDIA SUMMARY SAYS HE LOOKS BACK OUT OF UNCERTAINTY AND PERSONALLY I LOVE THE VERSION WHERE HE'S JUST A GODDAM COWARD, BUT IN THIS VERSION HE DEFINITELY GETS TRICKED: EURYDICE HAS BEEN BEHIND HIM THIS WHOLE TIME, SINGING REPRISES TO HIS VERSES THAT HE CANNOT HEAR, AND FINALLY WHEN HE'S AT THE WALL HE HEARS A NOISE AND TURNS, STARTLED, AND IT'S HER, WHO HE'S FINALLY ABLE TO HEAR. THAT'S ABSOLUTELY A TRICK AND I LOVE IT. BIG PART OF ME WISHES HE WAS JUST A COWARD BUT I DO ALSO LOVE THIS "I DIDN'T LIE AND I DIDN'T BREAK OUR DEAL BUT I ABSOLUTELY DID MAKE YOU FALL FOR A TRICK" THING. hermes. my man. my brother. "and that's how it goes. it's a tragedy." LMFAO MY DUDE FUCKING PUTTING EVERYONE WHO THOUGHT THIS STORY WOULD HAVE A HAPPY ENDING ON BLASTTTTT
in 2010, i was a senior in high school, taking latin iv. our magistra played for us an interview from npr of a musician named anais mitchell, who had created a folk-opera about the myth of orpheus and eurydice, entitled “hadestown.” i fell in love instantly, and spent a long time trying to find a copy, which i listened to on repeat endlessly
“hadestown” became one of my go-tos, if i wanted to listen to something but wasn’t sure what – or, in college, if i was in a studio class and needed a single album that would last the entire 3-hour period. i loved it
and then in 2020, i heard that hadestown had come to broadway. i was thrilled, and couldn’t wait to listen to a presumably higher-budget soundtrack. i looked up the broadway ost and listened to it, and was… disheartened. this wasn’t “hadestown.” this was a bunch of bad covers in the wrong genre, interspliced with fan songs. “hadestown” elicits a specific feeling of acceptance and melancholy in me that this new broadway version absolutely did not
but i’ve now bitten my tongue and swallowed my pride, and am watching a camrip Perfectly Legal Reproduction of the broadway show. thoughts to follow

Note
tell me about your favorite piece of music.
god that’s a really tough one cuz i got a bunch
one that i know always makes me really happy is “take me home, country roads” by john denver, cuz when i was a kid my mom played her john denver CD all the time, so it’s a comfort song
“tuesday afternoon” by the moody blues and “you’re my home” by billy joel get the same treatment for the same reason, but they’re not my favorite comfort songs (but TMHCR is because i’ve literally used that song to stop crying after my girlfriend broke up with me and when i was super tempted to start hurting myself)
duran duran is a good fucking band and “the reflex” is baller as hell
right now in my youth orchestra (which it’s my last year in cuz i’m a junior in college........ i gotta start focusing completely on temple after this semester and i’m SAD) we’re doing mahler’s 1st symphony and that piece makes me go APESHIT every time i listen to the chicago symphony orchestra play it (THE END OF THE FIRST MOVEMENT AND THE MIDDLE OF THE FOURTH MOVEMENT ARE SO FUCKING GOOD AND YOU CAN EAT MY ASS)
a lot of MCR’s repertoire, especially on the danger days album, sticks with me cuz that was angry emotional music that i found when i needed it –– same with some vocaloid songs bc i was a fucken.  Weeb when i was like 11-14 years old
“the middle” by jimmy eat world is a new song i’ve found and adore now because it’s just genuinely heartwarming and uplifting to me
“DNA” and “humble” by kendrick lamar fucking slap and i love those songs so much
the darkest dungeon and undertale OSTs fuckin ROCK

Lust and Other Stuff
Today I had a woman in her 70′s tell me that after being married to her husband for their whole lives basically, he was in his 80′s.. that he still looks at other women. What??? Now I’m not sure where this came from, or why she brought this up to me, but it was almost like some weird type of confession? I dunno it was so bizarre actually. So.. I apologized to her.. sympathizing w/her more or less, but she got very defensive and said back, “well I‘m not b/c he’s a great man & I love him very much.” Well lady, I’m sure he probably is a great guy but let’s face it-- that’s not a great way to make your wife feel. I’ve been there done that w/a couple guys already so I get it. But.. I also know different-- b/c I dated a guy that was smart, sexy, & all that really.. he had it goin’ onnnnn and when we’d go out for sushi in the city with our Groupon coupons b/c we were ballers on a budget, (no shame).. there was always this woman who worked there who was like I dunno? A 20 on the 10 scale and let’s say I’m like a 4, ok? She was so pretty & her body so perfect it almost seemed unfair, lol. She had the kind of beauty that can’t be ignored, her outfits commanded attention, perfect hair, beautiful face, very tight clothing perfect body blah blah blah & I promise you--- he would not even glance. In her direction. It was uuuunbelievable! But to me, that right there is a great example of a man who chose to make it a point to honor and cherish & love his woman and somehow sub-humanely act like this woman wasn’t even in the room besides giving her our order. So I know ladies, there ARE men out there who can do this. Don’t accept anyone telling you that, “oh, that’s just men for ya. All men are the same. Or, “they all do it.” No. No. They actually don’t, all do it. Don’t buy that ticket, don’t take that ride. You don’t have to.
Anyways back to it.. the whole chapter of Matthew 5 is some super good stuff but verses 27-30 really unpacks some serious guidance on this sort of thing. Not being judgmental or super righteous holy roller or whatever, just this is what came to my mind b/c I myself have struggled with lust amongst many, many, many other not-so-pretty things ---did I say many? So anyways, this definitely comes out of a place of love and random thoughts, ok? Ok great.
So the whole shebang is about dealing with adultery in the heart. Here it is:  “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘you shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. (here’s where it gets kinda crazy/weird --my personal opinion and interpretation of this part is that it is conveying to us the importance or gravity of how important this is.. but that it is by no means, a literal interpretation) If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.
Whoa.
I’m not a huge rule-based person myself, but I do find that while we all have our own vices.. overall those things are easier to follow or try to abide by when the relationship is right. And when the relationship is right, you may not even be aware of the “rules,” (reallllllyyyyy don’t like that word, but forgive me for lack of a better substitute at the moment) but you may find they become enlightening and you may have already been changing your life to be more align w/them, unknowingly, even. And not b/c they’re there to guide us, but bc your heart is changed. God changes us. Not over night, not immediately, some things take longer than others.. but he changes us. And so when I say relationship folks, I’m definitely referring to your walk with the Lord.
Please keep in mind that I used to be absolutely, 100%, --a product of this dark, dark world we live in today. And I thank God for saving me from that, because I sure as heck didn’t deserve it. Nu uh. Nooooo way. Thank God Thank God Thank Goddddddd for His love, grace, mercy, forgiveness, patience... seriously. No one else can ever love you like that. No one. And now I’m just a dirty, rotten sinner saved by Grace but He is doing a good work in me now. I have been saved & nothing can take that away from me.. which is totally awe-some! John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish but have everlasting life.”
I think I just got way off track there but what’s interesting is He also lays it out for us, as far as how husbands are to treat their wives. Crazy, right? Ephesians 5:25 says, “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, That He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.” ------Ok so this should go without much need for explanation, right? Christ loved the Church more than anything & so if He gave Himself for her, surely we can make an effort in trying to love in relationships more like Christ loved the church, and less like the rest of the world does... no? Given the divorce rates, I’d put my money on our Good Lord and not the way of the world but hey.. as someone once said to me, “you can do what you want, it’s a free world.” And he couldn’t have been more right. I’m not here to judge, I’m not here to convince you of anything.. I’m actually just out here randomly working out my thoughts and feelings bc without paying someone a lot of money to listen to me, I don’t really have anywhere else to go. I talk to God, yes and lots but aside from that what I mean is just that I’m usually the listener. It’s kind of this therapeutic thing for me, in a weird way --getting my random thoughts/feelings/wonderings out there. It’s not like I dwell on this stuff or anything it’s just something I find myself coming back to, so we’ll just see where it goes, I suppose. I think this is my new safe place for awhile. We’ll see.
Anyways back the super-loaded verses we just went through.. I think it’s safe to assume that what our great Teacher is trying to tell us, is that it matters what we look at. It matters what we think about. And so it’d be fair to say that especially in today’s society where sex is selling everything and everywhere, where porn is easily accessible, modesty is now a rarity, & Instagram/Facebook/Snapchat is used as a tool for many to self promote their bodies & filtered faces & fake perfect lives... we have to make an effort, to be different. We have to make an effort to protect what we see when we can and when we are able. And in doing so we can further protect what we think, as those two can easily go hand-in-hand. I don’t know about you, but when I think of how awful it would be to have to pluck my own eyeball out bc I just looked at a hot guy & had a fleeting moment where my body literally changes and you get those butterflies or your upper lip starts to sweat... hahaha I dunno maybe b/c your mind wandered b/c he had a rocking bod’, handsome rugged looks, tight shirt on leaving nothing to the imagination, looking like he just popped out of a GQ magazine and all of a sudden your thoughts are going down this road it really shouldn’t have... but to realize that yes, that IS so bad that you should pluck your own eye out?! How about -- no thanks. It’s not worth it and honestly it’s so empty anyways. Empty. Just turn away fm it. Turn away. Now singing turn arounddddddd... every now and then I get a... wait, wait wrong song, wrong moment. Scratch that.
But we are all human and maybe for some.. you struggle with lust. Another? Gambling. Working out. Prescription drugs. Non-prescription drugs. Shopping. Drinking. Facebooking. Eating.. the list goes on, right? Maybe even something totally weird you’d never think of like, “Can’t stop binge-watching old episodes of Dawson’s Creek.” The point is, we all have our own vices, they just manifest differently in each of our own lives & that’s why it’s so important to stay close to God & to stay in the Word and not the world. It may not be the popular way or the easy way but I promise you. It is the only way. <3
