Production proposal pt.2
Production proposal - Romeo and Juliet Romeo sits down on his couch opposite Julia. They begin to discuss her journey, Julia talks about her sobriety, whereas Romeo focuses on the journey they went through ‘together’. Julia begins to bring up the topic of Paris, her love interest. The camera moves to Romeo, whose features intensify. There is a close up on Romeo's new part of wardrobe, a scarf around his neck, who he now begins to fix, almost as if he was playing with it, grinning slightly. Romeo starts to strongly suggest Paris should no longer be in Julia's life, saying he is a bad influence on Julia. She begins to defend him in a polite manner. The conversation begins to intensify, Romeo suggests Paris should be dead to her, whether she wants it or not, moving away from the topic of Paris, he once again talks about Julia and him. Julia becomes clearly more and more uncomfortable. Romeo stands up and fixes the cup of tea, turning it, so the exquisite floral pattern faces him. Audience can hear each sound, from the squeaky turning of the cup on the plate, to Julia’s nervous heavy breathing. Romeo jumps into a monologue in which it becomes clear he has killed Paris and his real feelings towards Julia and the relationship he was sure of with her. Julia jumps to defence, upset about Paris' death, denies ever suggesting any sort of relationship or flirtation with her psychiatrist. Romeo's voice overshadows Julia, she is now a faint whisper and shortly we just see her mouth moving yet no sound coming out. We are now in the brain of Romeo. He has never seen Julia as a person, partner, he saw her as an object belonging to him, an object of admiration. Him having a couch to sit on, suggesting the freedom and power he seems to pose, Julia squeezed into the beautiful but clearly uncomfortable armchair. Romeo fixing a small detail like a floral pattern on a teacup to face him, putting her in a grand chair, valuing beauty over comfort, it is almost as if he was setting up his model for a painting. The intense monologue of Romeo has taken over audience's hearing and visuals, we just see his face and mimics change with each word, to really see into the mind of Romeo. We start to move away as the sound intensifies, there is a short high pitch sound and we begin to hear Julia's heavy breathing in the background. Camera turns to her as she now lays on the couch. We've been tricked along with Julia. Romeo's mundane, almost abruptly polite manner of always offering Julia tea, was a cover for slowly poisoning Julia, not only killing her, but slowing down her recovery from addiction. Romeo positions himself walking away and to the couch a couple times, as if he was trying to see what one would see when they walk into the office. It was not a precaution, a safety measure, it was simply for the aesthetically pleasing visual he was already imagining. Romeo lays himself along Julia and shares a passionate kiss with the young unciouns girl. As the camera moves away we hear the voice of narrator, now dead Romeo, closing by speaking full of delusion: “A glooming peace this morning with it brings; The sun, for sorrow, will not show his head. Go hence to have more talk of these sad things; Some shall be pardoned, and some punished. For never was a story of more woe Than this of Juliet and her Romeo. “ Authors (group project): Karolina Kuczmarska, Emilie Livingstone, Weronika Majos, Nella Żórawska, Klara Mikina

Production proposal
Production proposal - Romeo and Juliet Romeo and Juliet - Act V Scene 3 Characters Julia Capulet - a 16 year old drug addict, has been going to Dr Montague for 3 moths, is now to end her treatment Dr Romeo Montague - a 35 year old psychiatrist, erotomaniac, narrator throughout the whole film Paris - 17 year old, Julia’s love interest, now dead, an addict and a dealer Abstract The movie follows a love story of a psychiatrist with his patient. The movie is narrated by Romeo, we see him focusing on Julia’s glances, body language, all leading him to the conclusion she is in love with him. We, the audience, soon realise, however, that we cannot trust the narrator and that Romeo will do anything to fulfill his vision. Pitch of the scene The camera follows a single cup of tea on a little plate, with the tea in focus we bag in to enter what we know as Romeo's office and identify the man carrying the tea, whose only shoulder is visible in the shot, as Romeo. As he puts down the cup of tea on a small table, the camera moves away and we see Julia sitting on an armchair next to the table.

Presentations
Presentations on masks in the Ancient Greek theatre
For our theatre class, we had to come up with our own topic for a presentation on the use of masks in a chosen ancient theatre. My group chose the ancient greek theatre. We made the presentation together, by dividing the tasks between each other, and later presented it in class. The first person talked about the history of masks in the ancient theatre, I talked about their function, the next person explained how the masks were made, and the last person described how the masks looked.
The making of our presentation was a good learning experience, which later helped us come up with our own etude.

Group etude
The process of making an etude
Our theatre group, decided to make our own etude. After brainstorming ideas, we settled on choreographing a performance, to a song called “Be happy” by Dixie D’amelio. We started out with, walking around on the stage, when the music drops, we go into a line, going from shortest to tallest, while moving our hands, as the rhythm goes. We then all spread out on the stage, everyone doing different things we established in the beginning. We then all gather in one place, facing back, so that when the music changes, and the lead falls back, we can catch her, and push her back up. The etude ends when we all walk up front, and make the lead disappear.

Live theatre experience
Live theatre experience: Seeing a play called “Ożenek”
Having read the reviews, my expectations, were high. Now that I’ve seen the play, I can easily say the play did not disappoint. It, centred around the idea of finding the perfect partner, and the struggles that come along with it. The whole performance was enjoyable and funny, as it was meant to be a comedy. The play itself, didn’t have a deeper meaning, as it was simply a form of entertainment. The actors did a great job, making sure that they embody the characters they play, portraying them the best they could. Overall, seeing the play was a great experience.

Making masks
Making masks out of gypsum
Masks have been a part of theatre since the ancient times. Whether that was Rome or Athens, they were always present on stage. Masks help actors get into role. Since only men could play in the ancient greek theatre, masks helped them  quickly change the character they played. Masks were a prominent topic that we discussed during our classes this semester. Therefore, during our theatre lessons, we decided to make our own masks out of gypsum. We first started out by deviding ourselves into groups of two, since one person would be applying the gypsum and the other would have it applied. We started out by putting Vaseline on our faces. We make sure to cover our eyebrows and eyelashes so that we don’t rip them out, once we later take the masks off. We put the pieces of gypsum on our faces, by first coating the gypsum in water. After covering the face with several layers of gypsum, we waited for the masks to dry, before taking them off. We then repeated the process on our friend’s face. During the classes we had the following week, we focused on lining the insides of the masks with layers of paper covered in water mixed with liquid glue, making the masks more stiff, and easier to work with when performing.

Review of a play
Review of a play called “Pustostany”
On one the the beautiful fall days of November, we went on a school trip to the theatre, to see a play called “Pustostany”. The plays main focus was showing what a day to day, of a  person struggling with their mental health might look like. The main character, was showing signs of depression, such as lack of energy and motivation. The play also showed how tough it is to experience obsessive thoughts, and how it might affect our everyday live. The play itself was very entertaining, the actors did an amazing job, and despite them being teenagers, were able to deliver a very mature and meaningful performance.

Poster making
Philippe Genty - VOYAGEURS IMMOBILES – via review of the play or the lessons
During our lesson with a substitute teacher we made posters about modern art. Me and my friend made a poster on the modern paintings and drawings. We made sure to include the most popular artists, from that particular time period, along with a few quotes surrounding the idea of modern arts. We also included the movements connected with the topic, such as neo-impressionalism and symbolism. We even included a recreation of a paintng by Damien Hirst called “Mickey”, which is a mickey mouse, but made up of a buch of circles, a perfect representation of what modern art is about.

Theatre
Theatre - what is it? What you think? How You feel?
Theatre is a form of art. It gives people a way of expressing themselves. It is a way to relax, and often a way for people to escape their reality. It is a kind of entertainment, which not only makes you wonder, and try to unravel all that is hidden behind one’s performance. I personally find theatre fascinating. When we look at the emotions, that a single person can portray, often without any words, makes us the viewer go through the same things, as the characters played on stage. When we go to a play, and stillcatch ourselves thinking about is days later, that is how we know the play was good.

Unit 1
What were my goals?
My main goals were to become more outgoing, gain confidence, become more involved in the lessons, but most importantly learn about theatre. Some goals seemed more achievable than others, like for example gaining knowledge about theatre, which I did, some like getting more confident or becoming more outgoing will be harder to achieve, but I am slowly getting there.
What was new?
One of the surprisingly new thing for me was, getting involved in the lesson. I wasn’t used to participating in the lesson as much as I am now,  playing games, talking about my emotions, or even being in charge of the lesson for a certain amount of time was something that wasn’t really a thing in my previous school or any of my other classes.
What was interesting and why?
The lessons overall were very interesting, i really liked the new games and exercises we did every week, and the fact that we got to participate in them. I feel that I really got to know my group from a different side.
