Hi, you can keep this unanswered and not post it, but I want to help you understand the thought behind some of the points in your criticism post. Before I start I want to apologise if I come off as blunt and rude, that's not my intention and I'll try my best to show my tone as unthreatening but I'm autistic and not a native English speaker, which complicates things lol

*general you used throughout the ask

First, I want to start with this: they all are part of the army. You don't need to dig much to see you'll rarely see a "morally upstanding" person in the army, be it because they're cheaters, abusers, compliant with all that or they're (insert -ist/-phobe category here). UK military spouses are 3 times more likely to experience intimate partner violence (IPV). I'm not saying the COD characters need to be written like that, but it wouldn't be "unrealistic" if we take real life statistics into account.

Second, and maybe the most important thing, everyone writes COD characters OOC. The majority of the active fandom on Tumblr and tiktok have seen gifs and 10min out of context clips from the game at best. It's to be expected to not frequently find something actually in character for a lot of the guys. Especially with characters that are just operators like König, Nikto and Krueger. In their case everything is and isn't OOC at the same time because we just... Don't know these characters. We lack characterisation past maybe 1-3 traits about them. I'd argue that's why the fandom liked König so much, other than being masked, he's the perfect paper doll! You can dress him up in whatever characterisation you want and it probably won't contradict his canon (because he barely has one and what he has is quickly misinterpreted (anxiety disorder turning into shyness for example)).

Now specifically on your "How are you going to hc a victim as the abuser?" - simple, whether you like to accept it or not is up to you, but it's not far fetched for victims to become abusers later in life. Just look at serial killers statistics - 74% of US serial killers were psychologically abused and 42% were physically abused as children and later in life followed a similar pattern brought to an extreme. Or on the other hand, a tamer example would be generational trauma because that's how we get that (grandparent was abused and because that's all they know, they implement it in bringing up their child who, for the same reason, implements it in bringing up the grandchild and so on).

The final thing I want to say is, it's good to block people who you don't vibe with. Doesn't matter if it's because they wrote something that personally disturbed you or you simply don't like their blog theme or you see them too often in the tag. Personally curating your experience is key in fandom, utilise the tools Tumblr has given us. Of course as you and others have mentioned that's impossible without some assistance from the other side. Tagging is extremely important (tagging with the correct words without censoring!!! Or the filter won't catch! Rape, noncon, incest ✅; r@pe, n*nc*n, 1nc*st ✖️✖️).

Late night thoughts vol. 1

It's 4 am and I cannot sleep so I'm just gonna splooge some random thoughts that I have (some positive, some negative, and some that's probably just nonsense.)

Uhh, I like to get negatives out of the way first so I guess I can start with that.

- Does anyone else miss when art/animation communities felt more niche but open? I'm particularily talking about the animation meme community here cause that's a community I've more or less lurked in for a long time. I remember a time when there was the big three of animation memes a lot of people and myself were inspired by. It feels silly to say that what got me into art were a bunch of independent artists animating anime cats fighting eachother, but that's exactly what happened. I loved these creators (still do) and I looked forward to seeing what else these creators had to offer. As time went on, more creators came in the fray with a lot of cool talent and craftmanship and it was honestly very cool seeing what everyone had to offer. That's something I loved most about AMC, that so many were able to feel free to create whatever they wanted and how wonderful it paid off to see that creativity put into so many special masterpieces of independent art and animation, and that's something I'll always admire. So it breaks my heart to see what the AMC has became. Don't get me wrong, there's still a ton of great artists out there and y'all are fantastic, but I cannot help but feel like the environment in that community especially had gotten a lot more vile than what it started off as. To be fair, that's pretty much any community these days, I'm well aware of that. But I have never seen so much drama, so much infighting, and so much people being deplorable to eachother in my life that it's honestly sickening! I've always wanted to make my own animation memes and I still do, I have a TON of ideas I'd love to get to eventually, but if I ever decide to post them, don't expect me to engage much with the rest of the community. IMO, the best communities you can have are the small close ones you have with your best pals.

- For the past few years, I've been distancing myself from big social media branches and fandoms because of how toxic the environments can be for some of these spaces especially, and it's honestly helped a lot with my mental health (Deleting my Twitter and moving here has honestly been one of the best things I've done last year). It's partially why I've stopped posting so frequently, because really the only people I truly care about pleasing are me and all my close friend groups and found families I've built. I don't really care about statistics and platform building, if people like my stuff, then that's cool. I can look at a post I made with bigger numbers than usual and go "huh, that's pretty neat" and then move on talking about a crossover AU I've been cooking up with my boyfriend. That's not to say I don't appreciate my followers or people who like my content, I do. But know that what I make isn't catered to what'll get me the most attention, it's what'll make me and my family happy. And if people like that, then that's cool. Maybe every now and then I'll ask my followers what they'd like to see, maybe a fanart raffle or sketch request event, I think that'd be nice. But for the most part, this page is very, and I mean VERY self indulgent.

- Uhh I've been doing okay for the most part, personal issues I don't wanna get to aside. I've mainly been working on plushies, commissions and other self indulgent projects. I mentioned before that I got into the latest Cookie Run game, and that's pretty cool. I've mostly focused on making art for that and mine and my boyfriend's OC/AU projects. I'll post more about it when I get there, but for now uhh... gay people.

so this draft now sits at 85.7K, which is about 11.8K added from the first, and although it is still faaar from perfect it is definitely... better than the draft i finished 2 years ago. it's insane how much my writing has improved, between all the reading i've been doing and first drafting the two sequels of the trilogy.

that being said there still are a lot of things i know need to be fixed, but i'm at the point where if i try to fix them on my own i'll be stuck on them forever.

i really couldn't decide what snippet to post so this was admittedly chosen a bit at random lmao. this is from when the gang is approaching their destination for their expedition.

On the external display, Mohani loomed ahead, growing larger every second. The planet was almost entirely a deep blue, except for some white spots at its poles. It reminded Finneas of his final glimpse of Ghillairde when he was leaving it behind for the last time. For a disorienting second, it almost felt like he was returning to his birth planet. But soon, the ship was close enough to see the sandy outline of the continents. The blue wasn’t all ocean. Some of it was trees. He directed the ship towards the landing coordinates just as Petra arrived in the bridge, clutching several barf bags. “Good to see you’ve come prepared, Lacroye,” he commented. “You’re already looking green, and we haven’t even entered the atmosphere yet.” She grumbled something unintelligible in response as she took her place in the copilot’s chair.

It's been frustrating me a little bit because I still very much have a hyperfixation on the ship and it's been becoming increasingly harder to find new content of it 😭

Ofc, people can move on from Animaticlock if they want, it's their accounts and they can do whatever makes them happy but MAN I'm starving out here ×_×

I've also noticed that whenever people do post stuff for the ship now, it gets significantly less attention than it did back in June.

I calculated some statistics to see what the average number of notes for posts under the Animaticlock tag during this month so far are compared to the first 12 days of June:

Average for June: 92 notes

Number of June posts: 18

Surprisingly the number of posts in the first 12 days of these two months were about the same, but as I suspected, the attention these posts received significantly declined. Keep in mind that these time periods are only 2 months apart from one another!

Aninaticlock is absolutely on a decline right now, which sucks for everyone who's still hooked on the ship but I think we should've seen this coming:

I agree with you, I think people are getting tired of it, and I think I might know the reason why. Animaticlock is a crosship, and thing with crosships is that they, in almost all circumstances, NEVER get any sort of canon interactions. While we did get two crossover videos involving the actual voice actors, this videos aren't canonical. While some people can will through that and stay fully invested in a ship like that, a lot of people can't. A lot of people need at least some sort of canon interaction to keep them excited in the ship because it makes it way easier to see exactly what their dynamic is like.

Animaticlock is special in the way that it managed to become a popular ship at all despite this. However, it was still unlikely that most shippers would continue to be as into the ship as they were when they first got hooked on it because of what I explained about crosships earlier (plus other reasons like getting new interests/hyperfixations that pull them away from it), so it was nearly guaranteed to have a decline, and that's exactly what's happening right now.

I'll still continue to make more Animaticlock stuff despite this tho, dw lol I'm not done with the ship yet

I was wondering what the diagnosis process looked like for you in regards to me/cfs? What tests were done? (Only asking because I suspect I may have it, however my general doctor got my blood drawn (even though there are no known tests to diagnose cfs/me), and tests results came back normal. They blamed it on my medications, but I've been experiencing the symptoms way before I took the medications.)

Now I'm having to call and ask them what I'm supposed to do, since I'm struggling.

hello there. i’m sorry you’ve been struggling and that your healthcare has been lacklustre! this post is going to be long so strap in <3

the diagnosis process varies from doctor to doctor. tbh many doctors are reluctant to consider ME even if it’s a severe case or a very classic case because they generally aren’t taught how to recognise it. it can be helpful to send your doctor links to official resources so they have a framework for helping you. if i were you, I’d look up the official guidelines for suspecting ME/CFS in your country and either send a link to your doctor or print them out. most doctors i meet will admit to my face that they haven’t read the guidelines for ME, so basically they’re not informed on suspecting, diagnosing, or treating it. in the UK where I live, the NICE guidelines explain the steps that should be taken if ME is suspected.

ME/CFS is a diagnosis of exclusion, so basically they do standard tests (like blood tests) first to make sure your symptoms aren’t caused by any other condition. once they’ve ruled out other causes, they see if you meet the ME/CFS criteria they use in your area. (in theory, diagnosis should take 3-6 months, but a lot of docs take a ‘wait and see’ approach instead, which can sometimes last years. personally i don’t think a ‘wait and see’ approach is appropriate, especially if you’re young. you may have to be assertive and ask multiple times to be evaluated. bear in mind it’s the system failing, not you.) the way they decide if you meet the criteria is by discussing your symptom history, which might take a few appointments. the best way to advocate for yourself is to bring another person to back you up (sorry to say this but statistically, it helps if it’s a male family member), to have a list of your symptoms and a timeline written down, and to be clear about the practical ways that your symptoms impact your life. i.e. “it takes me (x amount of time) to recover from going on a short walk. this symptom gets worse (x amount of time) after i do a particular activity and lasts (x days). i can no longer do x activity at all because of my symptoms. I’ve tried x y and z and it hasn’t improved my symptoms. I want to get my quality of life back.”

I don’t remember my diagnosis process very well. i had major symptoms for several years before ME was even considered, i was repeatedly brushed off and told my symptoms were from my autism even though that doesn’t add up. interestingly i was given treatments before I had a diagnosis. then i had a ‘working diagnosis’ of ME in my teens, which is where they think you probably have something but they don’t put it in your file till they’re sure. i’ve had a proper diagnosis on my file for years now, but i don’t know when it got there or who put it there. (??) the diagnosis process can be kinda weird. mine took forever but i know other people who were diagnosed quickly and efficiently, so it’s not impossible.

personally i had a lot of random tests, blood tests to CT scans to x rays, basically any test that was related to my symptoms (like a head MRI for headaches). i do actually have other conditions which show up on tests (like scoliosis), but since scoliosis cannot possibly be causing my specific pattern of exertion-related symptoms, i still got diagnosed with ME. having another condition or having medication side effects does not mean you can’t also have ME! especially if your symptoms started before you took the meds, like you said.

Okay, 3 random facts. All nerd hobby related.

-When I was 17, I wrote 25,000 words of fanfiction in a week (a MultiSaku oneshot, that's all I'm saying haha) and I've never hit that Mt Everest peak of productivity or obsessiveness since.

-Two years ago, I finished another 25,000-word oneshot, NOT in a week...just hours after escaping a car chase. I cut a guy off in front of a stoplight before a highway exit. He almost hit me. Absolutely my bad, I shouldn't have done it. He screamed at me from his car, threw his fast food drink at my passenger window (I didn't look at him) and followed me on the highway for about 5 miles. I drove past the hotel I was going to stay at for the work trip I was on, because I didn't want to get out of the car and confront him. After he finally gave up, I drove further, found a new hotel, power walked inside, sat down at the desk...and finished off my dubcon age gap Gofushi oneshot I'd been grinding for 2 months. What a rush haha I was damn scared in the moment.

Also I was listening to this song on repeat as drove with him honking/yelling behind me. It came up organically on my Youtube Music recommended for the first time during his honking and I just kept hitting "repeat". Now it's my...car chase song?

-When I was 10 I committed statistical magic by picking out 5 Magic The Gathering booster packs for my brother and getting him the exact 5 cards he wanted out of a set of 145. There were 45 "rares" in the set of 145 and 5 of them were snakelike creatures with arms called Slivers. We went to a gas station for snacks and he said, Stormears, go pick out 5 booster packs for me, and I said Okay!!:) and got 5 random ones. Each pack has 10 cards and includes 1 of the 45 rares. He opened them up outside the gas station and said Nice, that's one of the slivers I wanted...that's another one I wanted wow. What the hell another one! Oh my GOD another one! Holy hell that's, that's the last one!! Stormears!! You picked them ALL!

I'm afraid we're at about the limit of my knowledge here - I'm neither an industry expert on AI learning nor do I have the spoons for more research than I've done.

With that caveat, my understanding of the situation is this.

There is a "natural language" algorithm called GPT-3, which can be used by anyone to power their own apps (via subscription model) and has been trained on data from Common Crawl.

Common Crawl is a non-profit dedicated to archiving data from the internet and making it freely available to anyone. GPT-3 is the work of OpenAI, which also created the DALL-E visual art generator.

Sudowrite and other "novel generator" sites like it are using the GPT-3 base to generate "natural sounding" text. The stated goal of Sudowrite is to assist writers with their own work, by generating a couple more sentences when they're stuck, or new brainstorming ideas, or names for people and places.

One thing I do want to stress: this is NOT really an AI. There is no intelligence, decision-making, or independent action going on here. To explain it as simply as possible, what it does is a) look at what it's learned from ALL OF THE INTERNET, then b) look at a sentence you have given it (e.g. "it was a dark and stormy night"), then c) spit back out some content that, statistically, fits the patterns it has observed in all the other times someone has written "it was a dark and stormy night".

Given that you have to "train" GPT-3 towards whatever you specifically want it to do (fiction, news, chat bots, etc), and given that Sudowrite produces so much fandom-specific content so easily, I would guess that the Sudowrite version of GPT-3 has been given additional training using freely-available fanfiction, from AO3 or otherwise - but I do not know enough about the nuances of this technology to be sure.

So to answer your questions as best I can:

Locking your works on AO3 should protect them from being included in Common Crawl and similar datasets, I believe. This means they will also not be archived by the Internet Archive or appear on the Wayback Machine, will not appear in searches etc going forward, although anything that has already been archived will still be in those sets of data.

This may or may not do anything to keep them out of the pool for future generative algorithms.

This may or may not do anything to stop people specifically using fanfiction as additional training for creative writing AIs, depending on how they are obtaining that training data in the first place. (E.g. if everything on AO3 was locked tomorrow, someone could still just create an account and laboriously download a ton of random fic to use. Whether they would bother is another question.)

My personal take: we are long overdue a big conversation about data, and what is and should be freely available, and how content-creating AIs are being deployed and monetised. This is something that needs regulation and oversight, and we should be making a fuss about it.

(Not least because if you search the internet for "how to" articles on pretty much anything at this point, you will get a LOT of results written by this sort of AI generator. They look like real human text to start with, but as you read on you notice that there are weird little glitches, and then the instructions for making papier mache suddenly tell you to boil an egg, and you realise you can't actually trust anything you just read because it was auto-generated and may not work or be safe. True story.)

However. I am not myself concerned about the possibility that my writing has been used in this dataset. I don't like it or approve of it on a general level, but I don't believe it does me any harm or even meaningfully translates into "someone else profiting off my work". As far as I understand the technology, it will not be plagiarising any of my actual text. My biggest concern is with how readily it puts together context based on exisiting works. It's very obvious with something like Harry Potter, but if someone is looking for "names for magical items" and end up with three unique things I put in one of my stories and uses those in their work... yeah, that feels like a mess waiting to happen.

I'm also not concerned about AI "replacing" writers (or other artists). There is a lot more to creating art than putting words together or making brush-strokes. The AI can only spit out what was put into it, and it's always going to pick the most statistically likely option. That means in terms of storytelling, you will get cliche after cliche, empty dialogue that sounds good but doesn't mean anything, repeating the same themes with occasional nonsensical diversions for "variety", a general sense of hollowness and lack of actual human input...

... wait. Did anyone check whether Marvel's already using this thing?

The folly of being multifaceted strikes again.

I think maybe I just gotta stop trying to make art streams work for me, at least until I'm an Affiliate and/or can get some better internet...

So if you don't know, twitch has a timed achievement system that tracks your various stats from your streams. The requirements for the Affiliate achievement, which allows you to apply to get paid, are as follows:

Get 50 followers

Stream for 8 hours

Stream on 7 different days

Have an average of 3 viewers

That's it. Sounds so easy right?

Welllll... no....

Gaining followers is a very, very slow process. (I get it, I was incredibly choosy about who I follow on twitch at first, too.) It's maddening, but it's also the one statistic that doesn't "drain" over time, assuming people STAY followed.

8 hours streamed is probably the easiest requirement to hit. But you can lose it if you don't keep streaming, twitch only counts the most recent 30 days of activity.

7 days is the same deal as hours.

3 average viewers is the one that's got me worried about doing art streams, however. My game streams are the only reason I'm coasting by on an average of 3.5... every low turnout art stream I do chips away at that average.

I've had two good art streams so far in the past 30 days: one on a Wednesday afternoon/evening where I was making sticker designs and @shiftythrifting raided me with their audience (💜🧡💜🧡💜), and last Saturday/Day 2 of Frankentober, where I was doing a prompt randomization drawing challenge (of my own weird design) and had basically bribed people to watch with promises of giveaways. ^^;;;

Those streams still had lower passive view counts than my game streams, but they were over 3 at least. The rest of my art streams have been trending worse than that.

Why?

It's harder to vamp when you're actively trying to work on a drawing. That's the main reason speed draws are the norm on youtube-artists dub over the footage after they're done. Drawfee's an outlier, managing to vamp to live drawings by being a multi person team. (So 1 person draws and the other 3 vamp.)

Games are easy because even if you're failing to be entertaining at least the game itself is entertainment.

I'm not completely used to drawing for an audience yet, so generally I tend to come off as overly nervous or low energy. The more art streams I do, the better I get at them... but....

My internet connection is terrible. I can only stream crunchy, 480p video. Which doesn't do my art any favors. (A chatter said on Saturday, upon winning a sticker sheet of my Merfolk: "OH!! You're a GOOD artist!!!" Which made me laugh! ...and despair, a little bit. ^^;;;;;;; I am a trained and practiced artist, but fuck if my crunchy streams aren't doing their damnedest to obscure that.)

So. What to do.

I could switch to making speed draws on youtube, and just game on twitch. But there are several reasons why I really, REALLY wanted art streaming to work out for me:

Having a set work schedule really helps my ADHD, and having an audience helps me focus better

When I manage to get some active chatters it's REALLY fun!!

I was hoping I could use the vods to make shorter vids for youtube... but due to the low settings I'm forced to stream at, it's pointless.

I don't have much disk place on my pc for recording videos, and it's been 7 years or so since I last did any video editing and I'm not looking forward to looking uo tutorials to try reminding myself how to work a video editing suite. >_<

Try streaming art at a bunch of different times on a bunch of different days and see if that helps... (tedious, and more likely to hurt my view average even more.)

Give up on 2d art streams for awhile and embrace the mad science angle: stream trying to learn Blender instead.

Also I still haven't tried setting up the webcam to do needle felting yet. If I can find an angle where my boobs stay out of shot, that could be something? (Difficult, there's a reason I want them chopped off. They get in the way for everything. )

Set up a Discord server for my patrons and ko-fi supporters and do work streams of my 2d art there, so that in theory I can still get some of that precious audience-created focus my adhd-addled brain needs so badly

Stop streaming art on twitch and try art-focused streaming site Picarto instead

ID- He glances over at the bed for a long moment and the camera auto adjusts for a moment to the back. There are two others in the room with him who appear to be speaking quietly to one another. It adjusts back after a moment.

Simon- I know Professor Zzazz has already made a brief post about this, but I wanted to follow up here for a few reasons. First, I want evidence of what is happening here. If something should happen to one of us, to me or to Zzazz or someone else, I want there to be proof we were here. And also there are a few things I want to follow up on.

ID- He takes a breath. This is clearly difficult to do.

Simon- �aver was found in this state in the middle of his weekly mapping route. He was flown back by Eebee, having suffered an obvious attack from a 'Female Symbol' pokemon. His hearing protection was clearly targeted and destroyed, allowing him to fall prey to the Pokemon's audiotoxin. One of his Pokemon, the one he'd set out on, Flutter, is still missing.

ID- He pauses again, as if to clear his throat. He looks away from the camera.

Simon- From what we can tell it is unlikely this was an attack made at random. These pokemon are hunters, but they don't target small prey often, and they definitely don't often aim specifically for the head when attacking. Further, �aver is experienced in traversing Glitch City. It's unlikely that he would wander into the territory of this pokemon on his own. It appears, therefore, that this was a premeditated attack, one done with purpose, particularly aimed at preventing �aver from returning.

ID- Simon pauses again, and sits back, as if contemplating whether he should say the next thing on his mind. A ripple like static plays over his lab coat. It is difficult to tell if this is the camera quality, or if it is physically happening to him.

Simon- I'm going to now attempt some wild conjecture. So please bear with me. Statistically, since the injury �aver received was caused by a pokemon only found in Glitch City, and since the pokemon was clearly trained, it follows that it is most likely that someone from Glitch City trained the Female Symbol that attacked �aver.

ID- He brings the camera a bit closer and lowers his voice.

Simon- But frankly. I don't believe what is statistically likely here is necessarily the truth. I do not think a Glitch City resident is responsible for this. I believe it was done by an outsider. Someone from one of the regions. It is too much of a coincidence that this happened just as the path to Glitch City is becoming more conspicuous, just as �aver himself was put on Hoenn television. And �aver ended up the victim, with the pokemon he revealed to the world.

Simon- Now, this goes further. Since the pokemon used to carry out this deed was clearly well trained. I have worked with this type of pokemon before. It was nearly impossible to control for any length of time, so clearly this pokemon has been trained for years. But it would have been impossible for a trainer from the outside to catch one before only a few short months ago. Impossible, except for the one Female Symbol that I know was in Kanto. The one that I trained with myself at Silph.

Simon- Now, I am not sure what all this means, but when all other options have been proven false, one arrives at the truth no matter how unlikely. I will discover the meaning of this. It will take time. But I will succeed.

ID- There is some talking from offscreen. Simon nods before looking back at the camera.

Your second source says that study results range between 2% and 10%. 1 in 10 is not what I'd call statistically negligible. Your last source quotes the same stat.

disabilities, gender, and injuries

awkward title bear with me.

so i have three things i desire to fix: disabilities, gender (and sexuality), and injuries. i'm not satisfied with how i handled ANY of those last round.

gender proves...

uncertain. most sources say around 1% of the population identifies as trans. i am going to hesitantly try this number, rolling a d100. actually, it's going to be 2%, because 99 will be nonbinary and 100 will be binary trans.

(yes, this is MASSIVELY simplifying matters.)

i feel happy with this method of handling things, for now. nonbinary cats will be listed simply as "cat" in allegiances. other trans cats...won't be listed?

sorry. i refuse to do single them out. i am a trans person and i enjoy trans cats in warriors as a form of escapism, where transphobia doesn't exist and everyone knows their gender young without any painful periods of questioning. i'm aware that's not representative of real experiences: i do not care.

i have not yet decided if i will answer questions about the gender identity of cats.

but sometimes surrogacy & etc. arrangements will be announced, and i will allow you to draw your conclusions from there.

as for sexuality.

god okay so i hate researching these statistics bc it feels like SUCH a landmine, but the poll wikipedia used really confusingly has trans in the same category as sexualities, which means i don't know how to interpret the results.

buuut working roughly, we'll say roll a d10, with a 10 being queer. i'll then flip a coin over gay or bi.

(yes again this is not representative of the many ways of being queer. please. i am playing a cat simulator with myself using random number generators. i am doing my best.)

last but certainly not least, to get the a-spectrum on here, we'll add another d100. for the purposes of simplification, ace cats will be off the table for having mates, because mates in wbcd are solely for the purposes of having kits.

okay, next up: disability.

this is related to injury but i want to figure this part out first.

what i want to do here is set-up a framework for disabilities, and as i learn and research more, i can slot more and more specific situations in. i can't pretend to make a good list of every disability a cat could have, and i don't want to. it feels very counterproductive.

so what i've done is research some lists of categories of disabilities, with my plan being to fit specifics into those categories.

first, one in four adults have a disability, so that's one in four cats born in wbcd.

(yes some disabilities are acquired we're getting there, 1 in 4 is an easy number to generate and i'd rather overrepresent than underpreresent.

the list i am MOST happy with, in terms of categories, is: vision, mobility, auditory, neurological, cognitive, medical, and physical.

for right now, we will be selecting off of that list with even odds.

whether or not it gets mentioned in allegiances will be up to fate.

ALRIGHT, last up: injuries (and illnesses). the plan is to use the same list as before for injuries and illnesses with permanent and/or long lasting effects. the two questions are:

how often? and how long?

for how often,

i didn't find any numbers that felt workable, so i decided to do some thinking. i think, and this might sound a little strange, but i think at the beginning of every year, i'm going to roll a d4 for each clan, and that's the total number, and then i'll distribute those throughout the seasons.

for how long,

basically the problem here is some things take time to recover from and i wasn't really handling that at all.

so.

things that are recoverable will be assigned a behind-the-scenes end date. with my new and improved cat tracking system, i feel this is a logical way to handle it.

These days the percentage of teenagers with mental health disorders and conditions has sky-ricochetted, while medical services are severely struggling (and failing) to cope with the rising demand for mental health help. It is also a time with the most amount of teenagers "coming out" as transgender. Coincidence? Don't think so.

We are also living a time in which sex-based violence is on the rise, and teenage years are facing daily danger of rape or/and murder just for being girls. Is it really surprising that this coincides with a time in which so many young girls don't feel happy being girls, to the point of wanting to be boys, or even, non-binary? Don't think so.

The more young girls transition into boys, the more twisted the statistics about sex-based violence become, because it's no longer classified as sexual violence if those girls-transitioned-to-boys are assaulted, it is instead classified as violence against the LGBTQ+ community. Therefore, the amount of violence against females might appear, statistically, to have gone down. On the other hand, the more boys transition into girls, the EVEN more twisted the statistics about sex-based violence become, because it's no longer boys attacking girls, but transgender people, and the Met police has been told they cannot put an attacker is trans, because it incites hatred against a protected category (LGBT+) Is it really surprising that many of the people who support laws for teens to self-identify your gender without medical evaluation, are men? Don't think so.

The arguable most polemic demand of the Trans community, and where true fights really start, where the TRAs get REALLY angry and send death threats, is the demand to be given full access to female-only spaces. Surprising? Don't think so.

Currently in Scotland, TRAs have passed a Bill to allow teenagers to self-identify their gender just like that. They are arguing that this Bill won't really impact anyone (women) outside the transgender community. Astonishing? Don't think so.

The great majority of insults you see TRA use against the so-called Terfs are sexist, misogynistic insults. Which everything I have said, are you really surprised? You shouldn't be.

Clearly, the TRAs are all about attacking women, not about defending actual transgender people from anything actually bad.

Of course I do! I think I'd go back and find them even a week or more later, I love ask games, haha.

14. How do you feel about your older work?

Honestly? I love it! I'm so proud of myself and all the progress I've made!

Younger me took on her first multi-chapter story 2 months after she started to write in English. I've never completed a longer work before. My native language is nothing like English. But it turned out fairly fine! And the one younger me started another 2 months later? It's actually g o o d. I'm currently editing it and I'm stunned at how rapidly I improved between the chapters. I love seeing the starting points of various elements of my workshop.

I love that girl so much -- the faith she had regarding her abilities, her drive to get better, how she experimented and moved forward. And honestly, it’s been a long journey, but I’m confident in saying I’m her biggest fan now, of both her and her work.

It’s not that it was always great, or that I’ve never done anything wrong then. It’s only that I’ve recently discovered a lot of appreciation for that past me and her creations.

Also: I frequently re-read my older pieces.

20. What feedback makes you the happiest to hear? 

I don’t know. Recently I’ve been very happy about receiving even likes. And I think that’s a really good thing!

But, to explain that a little, let me walk down the memory lane.

There was a time I wrote for others. By that I mean that I was VERY preoccupied with how much reach my works got, how many comments I received, how many people were on my tag list (I used to have one), and so on, and so forth. However, I was never satisfied then. It was always too little, and honestly, I got more interactions then than I do now. I was starved for positive feedback, but I was also building up tolerance for it really fast. Of course, I was always grateful when somebody decided to comments, it just got too much control over me.

Fast forward a little, I left certain spaces and suddenly felt very lonely here. The above approach was not sustainable. Nevertheless, I tried once more, and got myself even more disheartened. It drained all the fun out of fandom.

So I started asking myself what is it that I’m really lacking, and realised it was community all along? Just those random chats about characters, and being able to hype other people up, and not caring about statistics when making something, casually chatting with other people, and... I missed not feeling like I have to earn those interactions through producing something.

Soo, fast forward to now. I found some more roles for myself to fulfil, started writing primarily for my own enjoyment, solved the community issue to some extent, and I’m honestly able to smile at any interaction I get now. A like? Man, that’s awesome. Reblog? My mind is blown. A comment? BUDDY YOU TOOK TIME OUT OF YOUR DAY TO TELL ME SOMETHING NICE, I WANT TO GIVE YOU CHOCOLATE COOKIES NOW, THANK YOU. It’s like, hm. The creative process is extremely satisfying on its own, so anything extra is very lush.

31. What was the development process of Trials and Tribulations like?

Chaos. It’s chaos. Pure chaos.

At first I tried to map out several ways in which a story could develop after each choice, but that quickly became too complex to manage. It also felt like any choice readers would have was merely an illusion then, since either of the options was something I’d already planned ahead for (so I could tip scales in one direction or the other, and it was very tempting on multiple occasions).

So... I stopped mapping the story out in my mind. I give choices that I know would be something the characters themselves would wonder about, or would have to choose from. And then I react. The idea I have in mind is rather vague.

There is no script. There is little to no plan. Things are all over the place, but still somehow kinda sorta maybe work, and I’m bending over backwards to keep it that way. But that’s part of the challenge! It’s definitely a fun writing exercise.

36. What fanfic of yours has the symbolism you’re proudest of? 

I think I have three I cherish a lot? Anchor , Lighthouse &  Black Ink Self-Killer .

Black Ink Self-Killer has been especially relevant to me. “What if my writing speaks of an ugly mind?” has been something I asked myself multiple times. Perhaps it was self-indulgent or even spoiled to resolve it in such a way, but the imagery I crafted there still is one of my favourite.
