my problem with art is that to get better at line art I need to practice line art but it's so much easier to fudge everything with paint. so I get into the line art and then two minutes later I'm painting. on the upside I have greatly improved at painting but STILL. THE LINEART. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.

#and i knowwww i don't need to be able to do line art if i just like painting but I ALSO LIKE LINE ART. WHEN I CAN DO IT.#anyway I'm fine I'm cool everything's fine #i am like very slowly getting better at line art cuz i constantly want more definition in my painting but argh #would be so much easier if i could just... do line art for a while.#@ artists who do really nice sketches and line art i am salivating over your style cuz i love it so much and your dedication is admirable #i feel like people really do not have enough appreciation for how difficult it is to do sketches that are like... nice.#clean sketches are deceptively difficult. they look so easy but getting them clean is like. putting them through the horrors (having them go through world after world, feeling like they're going insane helping the same people who never recognise them over and over) to the point they've started disconnecting from who they used to be

THAT AINT MEEE #I FUCK WIT ROUGHER LINES AND (somewhat) ROUGHER RENDERING #as chill as i am about my style. my view of it really changes when there's suddenly money involved you know.#'PEOPLE WONT WANT TO PAY FOR LINES WITH A CRUMB OF UNCLEANLINESS' is how i think at times.#like 'are these lines CLEAN ENOUGH to be INVOLVED in something that has MONETARY REASONS HMM?'... which is no good.#when my style was never that in the first place.#of course i'm cleaning up the lines a bit more than what the new version looks like right there.#BECAUSE my 'usual standard' has always been cleaner than that when it's not a sketch. but you get the idea

my internet is still out along with the power so i’m gonna take that as god telling me to take the time to label my fucking layers tbh

#i have i think three wips that are all haphazardly labeled #and i just really need to clean up in general SNSJ bc like i know there’s several layers that need to be deleted in general #the way i draw is chaos #i draw wip over wip on top of each other until i get lines like cuz this bitch doesn’t do line art #and THEN when i go over it enough times and it looks good enough i clean up the lines #so i often forget i have several sketch layers under everything #not to mention in a very paranoid person #and i worry about losing lines that i didn’t like initially but do later #so i take a lot of screenshots and keep folders of the older sketch layers pretty much throughout my whole process #until i do exactly this and spring clean it #lyriumsings txt
