I made a playlist inspired by Fear & Hunger 2: Termina! This one was quite fun to make and I had a fun time thinking of songs to associate with each Termina contestant.

Fear & Hunger is NOT for the faint-hearted and please wait until you are of mature age to interact with it. I trust you to be responsible with your internet usage.

Longass post and some scary as well as slightly NSFW imagery (and NSFW links) below the cut.

I should stop procrastinating and just play the damn games.

Nemophila - The Trooper (Abella)

Amazing cover of a song by Iron Maiden. Nemophila I feel is a relatively underrated band in the "Girls Metal Band Boom" of Japan, and believe me these ladies are talented. Their vocalist Mayu really impressed me with her screams and growls.

Abella possesses the Caressing Soul, and it really shows in how she puts others before herself, her reason for coming to Prehevil even is look for missing Nameless Liberty Underground(NLU) members, she essentially set herself on a rescue mission.

I feel that this song shows the side of Abella that is strong-willed and tough. She even pursued studies in mechanics and electronics for the sake of protecting her homeland, a real "trooper" if you will. She's both physically and mentally strong, and she uses that strength to protect other people, which makes her such an admirable character to me. If you called her "Best Girl", I have no qualms about that. ♡( ◡‿◡ )

2. DIV - ハラキリメロンソーダ/Harakiri Melon Soda (Henryk)

I was pleasantly surprised by this more recent song of DIV and the music video is a real treat! Melon soda is a type of drink which is extremely popular in Japan, for both its distinctive flavor and visually appealing green color. Despite its name though, it doesn't really taste anything like melon. If anything, it's delicious but artificial.

My personal interpretation of this song is about "on the verge of completely losing one's mind". The harakiri in the title could refer to wanting to destroy yourself due to losing your grip on reality.

And what do you know! The Moon (XVIII) tarot card makes an appearance in the MV, it can symbolize "your imagination getting the best of you".

It could also be about lies and deception in relationships presented as "playfulness", an all-too-neat concept symbolized by melon soda being a "playful" (it being non-alcoholic and very sweet makes it popular with children) and "artificial" drink.

Henryk possesses the Suffocating Soul, while he's a skilled chef, it took him a while to really invest himself in it, prior to that he-out of a need to leave his own mark on the world-dabbled in pretty much every kind of artistic endeavor, but with little success. I guess that made him quite literally "a starving artist".

While he's made a name for himself in the culinary world, he suffers from low self-esteem and often seeks the approval of others. I feel this song is him realizing how fickle fate can be, succumbing to his insecurities (he would seem like a guy who doubts the authenticity of praise from other people) and losing his mind while getting Moonscorched.

3. Pat Benatar - Heartbreaker (Samarie)

I could see Samarie belting out this song in the PRHVL Bop while giving Marina the most meaningful™ glances xD

I mean with a verse like this, I want to make it her unofficial theme song:

Your love has set my soul on fire, burnin' out of control You taught me the ways of desire, now it's takin' its toll You're the right kind of sinner to release my inner fantasy The invincible winner and you know that you were born to be

I find it interesting that Samarie possesses a Radiating Soul. While soul types in the Funger universe don't have a very clear definition, that makes it more open to multiple interpretations, I personally see it as Samarie's life force, she knows she's short on time and like a dying star, "shines brightest before dying", her whole reason for coming to Prehevil is Marina's affection/safety. Marina quite literally "lights up" her life.

4. CR Devil May Cry 4 OST - Devil Moon (Levi)

Ok, Bury the Light is the definitive Vergil theme. But Devil Moon is too!

This is my favorite song off the Devil May Cry 4 pachinko game, one of the more underrated DMC tracks and a perfect theme to the more somber parts of Vergil's character. It's sad, yet ultimately hopeful.

Levi possesses the Solitary Soul, and believe me after reading his character lore I just want to give the poor boy a hug QQ He was a child soldier, and didn't get to enjoy a happy childhood like most kids his age. It's only natural that he lived a solitary life and is hesitant to open himself up to others. But humans by nature crave connection, with kind people like Abella and open people like Marina, Levi is willing to come out of his shell. He's deeply haunted by his past but I feel that he doesn't want to be bound by it, and with proper support can learn to leave it behind.

5. DIR EN GREY - 人間を被る/Ningen wo Kaburu (Caligura)

I love DIR EN GREY but god their songs are difficult to put into playlists with other songs xD They're their own genre of music and thus don't really mesh well with other non-Diru songs, I liken it to them "establishing dominance".

I find Ningen wo Kaburu to be quite a solid single (I recall it doesn't really sit well with the community), it's not their best work nor worst work, and it's honestly quite fun to listen to for me. I very much like the concept though of "wearing human skin" (a literal translation of the song title), whenever I read the most spine-chilling true crime stories it makes me think "Are these people really human? They're simply monsters wearing human skin." It's a very meaningful song and here's a lovely analysis of the symbolism in it here.

Caligura possesses the Decrepit Soul, which speaks for itself. He's a monster "wearing human skin".

I highly recommend Funger fans to listen to DIR EN GREY, hopefully I've opened a new door for you and you can finally understand why even Miro loves them. :D

6. The GazettE - 奈落/Naraku (Daan von Dutch)

Unlike the other songs on this playlist, I immediately knew what I wanted for Daan. xD That man screams "guy with a tragic past who could be a visual kei frontman" energy.

An underrated bonus track off the Auditory Impression edition of the Shiver single. I fell in love with this song when I first heard of it from their Abyss concert. Abyss is probably my absolute favorite live setlist and concert from them, it's simply amazing in its atmosphere.

Daan possesses the Blank Soul, and similarly to Levi didn't exactly have a happy childhood, life was good when he fell in love with Elise von Dutch, the daughter of his benefactor Baron Eihner Von Dutch. But of course fate wasn't kind to them, the Baron pulled a full "Shou Tucker" and Daan, desperate to save his wife, sacrificed his left eye, but it didn't work and of course he was distraught.

This song is actually about a sadomasochistic relationship that doesn't end well, and the title Naraku itself refers to the concept of "hell" in Buddhism. Lyrically it doesn't quite fit but musically? I feel that it decribes Daan's inner turmoil and depression.

And I found out today that the artist of this beautiful Daan fanart is from Taiwan ∑(O_O;) *cough*can't help but feel a little proud*cough* (link leads to the artist who draws a lot of NSFW fanart, browse with discretion). I imagine it to be Daan when he finds out who Stitches and Needles truly are. (it's not quite confirmed but their true identities are heavily implied)

7. Paramore - Pool (Olivia Haas)

I was tempted to give her Deja Vu and call it a day. It's my brother's fault for subjecting me and Mom to Initial D. xD

My favorite song off After Laughter. I love the whole album for being "deceptively happy" but this song especially is underrated and musically it's just gorgeous.

Olivia possesses the Shadowed Soul, she and her twin sister Reila (wth Miro is such a GazettE fan it shows) grew up in a very conservative household. Despite being twins, they couldn't be more different and even have different soul types, Reila has the Radiant Soul and is athletic and outgoing, while Olivia is frail and reserved. Reila being healthy and just as talented as her naturally led to jealousy on Olivia's part, as well as Olivia hating it when people pitied her for her disability.

Despite this, it's evident that Olivia still loves her sister and her whole reason for going to Prehevil is to find out the truth about Reila. (the below photos having a slight similarity might not just be a coincidence?)

I feel that Grudges may be a better fit for Olivia lyrically but I just love Pool way too much, the chorus especially is just so beautiful and life sometimes makes you "feel like drowning" yet "you dive back in". This song is actually about a toxic relationship but I feel it could describe Olivia feeling sick and frustrated yet still having that will to carry on.

8. Jin Hashimoto - Star Platinum (Marcoh)

No words, just ORAORAORAORA.

I'm joking, but Marcoh is a walking JoJo reference xD Though Miro says he's actually more inspired by Rocky.

Marcoh possesses the Tainted Soul, due to him getting involved with some not so savory people in his youth, and eventually getting involved with the notorious Accardo family. It didn't help that his sister's safety was being threatened. And due to this, Marcoh was forced to kill a man in a boxing match, and eventually the Accardo family man who was directly threatening him and his sister. Despite being "tainted", like Abella, Marcoh is actually a very kind-hearted man who cares deeply for his sister and would risk his safety for others. I find his friendship with Olivia and Tanaka especially quite endearing.

This song is Jotaro's image song and with its heroic and determined sound, paints a picture of what Marcoh is like. He's even kind of shy and reserved like Jotaro, who in turn was inspired by Clint Eastwood, known for playing "stoic hero"-type characters.

9. BAND-MAID with The Warning - SHOW THEM (Karin Sauer)

I don't follow Band-Maid but this song is a banger, and the vocals are immaculate.

Karin, like Cahara, possesses the Endless Soul, since childhood she has always had an above-average curiosity and desire to pursue her goals. Her desire to uncover the truth behind Kaiser and what is going down in Prehevil would make Phoenix and Edgeworth proud. xD A dark side however of her profession is how journalists choose to use information, you could see them as "vultures" profiting off the tragedies of others or as "valkyries" who immortalize the stories of others.

I wanted this song to portray Karin's assertiveness and no-nonsense attitude.

10 . ONE OK ROCK - Deeper Deeper (O'saa)

I listen to some ONE OK ROCK and was pleased to find a "heavier" song of theirs. I'm quite partial to heavier rock songs.

This song is "perseverance" made into a song and is about going deeper into oneself and facing challenges head-on, which describes O'saa's determination and his attitude towards the pursuit of knowledge and improving himself. The downside of this "never giving up" attitude though is "what if you get yourself into something too deep?", like O'saa becoming a Termina contestant.

O'saa, like Enki, possesses the Enlightened Soul, ever since leaving his homeland, he kept pursuing greater education and knowledge in spiritualism and religion. He eventually joined the Yellow Mages and became an apprentice of Nas'hrah. Like Karin, he's determined in the pursuit of his goals and tends to be distrustful of others. I find this analysis of his character to be extremely well-written and if you have quite some time to spare (it seems longer than this post xD), do give it a read. It's quite interesting that despite his bravado and talent in the occult, he's human and has fears like the rest of us.

11. Watanabe Kazuhiro - Break the Chains (Kida Tanaka)

An underrated song from the Togainu no Chi True Blood (no not the HBO vampires) OST. Nitro+Chiral OSTs have so many bangers and hidden bangers such as this one. Honestly even if you dislike BL, you're missing out on lots of amazing bangers especially from BL games.

But this isn't about BL games!! This is about how I think this song describes the latent potential in Tanaka's character, what with him possessing the Latent Soul, and Miro possibly fleshing out his character more in future updates of Termina. Considering his background and the Japanese tendency to not say what they really mean, as well as Needles' unexplained(?) grudge towards Tanaka, I think he could become even more interesting than he already is.

I find it adorable that he's my brother's favorite :D And I can see why, he's got that really admirable "underdog" energy to him.

12. Cö shu Nie feat. HYDE - Maisie (Marina Domek)

The hypnotic opening to the Emerald Witch Arc of the Black Butler anime. The moment I spotted HYDE's name attached I knew it was going to be great. (Mugen for instance is amazing)

So "Maisie" is a girl name of Scottish origin, meaning "pearl". It sounds like a very dainty and cute name, which betrays the dark undertones of this song.

Marina possessing the Changeling soul, is kind of like this song having a cute title that hides its darker qualities, Marina in actuality is quite skilled in occultism and despite being born a boy, was raised as a girl due to her mother wanting to protect her from the Dark Priest life. I feel this "secret" of Marina is at least inspired by changeling lore.

On a tinyyyy note Marina is just adorable. (≧◡≦) ♡ And all the Samarina and MariLevi art too

13. Hades OST - In The Blood (August)

The hauntingly beautiful ending credits song to Hades. This song, as the title says, I believe describes how some things are just a part of you, be it your values, your lineage and if I were stretching things your destiny even.

August, like Ragnvaldr, possesses the Tormented Soul. He's knowledgeable of his family history and has great survival skills. However, it's also because of his family history that he has a grudge toward Kaiser and seeks revenge, especially for what Kaiser did pre-events of the first Fear & Hunger game. This verse especially fits with his nomadic lifestyle:

Is not where you live

But who cares when you're gone

It's not explicitly confirmed but it's heavily implied that Ragnvaldr is his ancestor, what with Moonless being his companion, him using a bow, him being from Oldegard, his hatred towards Kaiser etc. He's a man heavily tied to his heritage, it's "in his blood" after all.

14. Survive Said The Prophet - Red (Pavel Yudin)

ED2 to the Banana Fish anime. I'm not overly familiar with Survive Said The Prophet's discography but I've yet to find a song I dislike from them.

This song is grand, the instrumentation is swooping, and Yosh's screams are cathartic.

It's chaotic, like Pav with the Chaotic Soul, I find this song to be like his consciousness kicking and screaming. Like Levi, he's had a rough life. Like August, he hates Kaiser with good reason, Kaiser was the one who destroyed his hometown and massacred his family. He's a man who, for the sake of revenge, enlisted in the Bremen Army just for a chance to get close to Kaiser. Becoming a monster to destroy a monster, if you will. He, like many other characters, had their lives destroyed by Kaiser.

I feel that, unlike Levi though, Pav is already too far gone in his quest for revenge and will resort to anything for a chance to destroy Kaiser. Levi on the other hand, while also traumatized by war, wouldn't go purposely hurt people. Pav is a broken soul consumed by rage and revenge.

The fact that such a cruel, punishing, and disturbing game has its own community (and a very wholesome one at that!) is a testament to Miro's talent as a creator.

omg hi !! i don't usually do these kinds of things but fear & hunger is like the only thing i think about anymore and im suuuuper curious to know my results (and to see of it matches who i want it to be >:])

i am! 18 yrs old, transmasc, and bisexual. i'm average height & about mid-sized, with short-mid length dyed hair (it's orange-blonde ish atm but that's subject to change). freckles, tooth-gap, lots of moles, bit of a mustache going on, etc—i think the coolest thing about me is my eyes. they can look anywhere from grey-green-blue depending on the day, but i actually have central heterchromia as well! so, that's cool!

personality wise (the actual meat of this ask, lmao), i've been told i can be intense. but personally i just like to think i take no shit! i'm the kind of person where you get the kind of energy that you give, and i don't have much patience when it comes to others being immature or clueless. does this make me come off as short tempered sometimes? maybe. kind of. yes. but i promise i'm not always that angry! around people i get along with i like to think that i chill way back. when it comes to life overall im more the "it is what it is, nothing really matters so why not have fun?" type. my biggest personal philosophy is that as long as your not hurting yourself or anyone else, you should be allowed to do whatever you want forever. life is too short to not be a freak and shameless about it.

other than that, let's seeeeee. i think im pretty intelligent! i definitely value it in other people, at least. i enjoy things like analysis, discussion, and debate, especially when i get to go on long tangents and rambles. and i like to listen to long tangents and rambles too! i love to hear people be passionate about their interests. a lot of my past relationships have just been going back and forth with big rants on whatever is interesting us that week or something that annoyed us that day.

that being said! i'm also someone who runs outta energy quick. it's not unusually for people to not hear from me for a while, i like my privacy and i like my quiet. and i definitely like it when people respect that, i don't bode well when people get clingy. though, i do a lot better keeping in touch with people i can see face to face, versus anything long distance (i CANNOT do long distance at all im far too forgetful for it).

Reading your description immediately checked all the boxes for a perfect match with Marina! Where do I start? She cannot handle clingyness either. It might be an extreme example considering Samarie is a literal stalker, but when Samarie reveals her feelings, Marine engages as minimally as possible. She's very much done with putting up with people's shit and just wants to move on with her life. Much like with her father, she describes as always angry and obsessed with being miserable, she wants nothing to do with him.

In her B ending, we see that she moves to the big city to find people sharing the same attitudes as you two; to find acceptance and live a carefree life. Where you can experience all the excitement of the city is to be had together. That's not to say she's a party animal, far from it, just a free spirit. The city is the forefront of new ideas; art, science, politics. Go to exhibitions and community dinners together. With the world constantly changing around you you'll never run out of things to talk about.

Marina has a heavy emphasis on alone time that comes naturally from being an academic and a big reader. In Prehevil, we can find her reading in the local bookshop on Day 2, where she's not interested in joining the party. She needs time to shut out the outside world to recharge. A common method of escapism for her, she welcomes you to join her. Imagine if you had the option to accept her offer. You can recharge while bonding through quality time. If you believe reading in the same room counts as doing something together, sometimes just enjoying each other's presence can be enough.

For the gentleman of this matchup I've chosen Cahara! Cahara might not be very 'book smart' but he is a very clever and charismatic man. Part of living in poverty is having to learn how to entertain yourself with limited resources. As a conversationalist, you describe wanting not just to discuss particular academic topics but whatever is relevant to each other's lives. He'll tell you stories of his grand adventures (mildly exaggerated); treasure hunts, daring tales of thievery, survival and his adventures raiding under a band of criminals.

Being an endless soul, he shares the same philosophy as you; as long as you're not hurting anyone life is too short to not do whatever you want (minus the harm, but he's working on it). Cahara is the last person to compromise his life to conform. He knows that Celeste is a prostitute and the baby probably isn't his, but he doesn't care, and loves her all the same. An unconventional relationship type, it should be expected to be open like the one he shares with Celeste.

He'll need someone to be accepting towards his lifestyle and preferences. And if anyone is to be described as 'shameless and freaky', it's Cahara. Him being the only one willing to marry Enki and states that he's open to hooking up with an abdominal marriage (not a decision based just on survival but on his own lenient experimentation).

I know he comes off as flakey but he's extremely loyal. Willing to do anything for his loved ones, traversing through the horrors of the dungeons to keep Celeste and her unborn baby well feed and happy forever. There's no world where he abandons her. Celeste either passes away during childbirth or you all join together as a throuple.

I agree with what you said about your central heterochromia. You're right, that is very cool! That's what draws him to you at first. No matter how guarded he is around strangers, Cahara is a naturally curious person. He finds your appearance spurring a lot of questions. He wants to know who you are and everything about you to help fit the gaps in his imagination. Telling stories to their child, he's going to cast you the role of the pirate with wild sunset hair and ocean eyes.

Tdlr; Marina and Cahara, but overall I think Marina is your best match.

Idk if there is a post about specific relationships with other contestants aaaand an explanation, why he treats a person like he does, but I’d really like to hear a little of his reasoning on that topic :P

omg anon i love u you reminded me that i never posted nick's like/dislike chart on here

some notes below the cut!! I hope they're detailed enough to answer your question but if you'd like even more explanation then feel free to message or send another ask^^

1. yes nick and pav dislike one another. YES they also have a crush on each other; they're legally/politically enemies to lovers but neither can bring themselves to actually hate the other. nick dislikes loud people because he likes to be the centre of attention and be the one doing the talking BUT i think he'd still like pav because i think pav is the extrovert until a REAL extrovert enters the room. then he's quiet as a rat, thinking and listening. so i think nick would actually end up liking him.

2. nick and henryk know each other! nick frequently ate at henryk's parent's tavern and loves his cooking; he asked to meet the chef after a few visits and they sat and drank and talked for hours after closing. henryk admires nick as a person, even if he has mixed feelings on his occupation.

3. nick and daan also know, like, trust and admire one another for the roles that they played in the army. nick moreso than daan just because of how incredibly valuable daan was to his soldiers. they banter with each other in the typical BritishHumour way when they see each other on the train.

4. even though nick dislikes karin for how brash and blunt she is (he actually thinks she lacks a lot of tact), he trusts that she is an honest person who is actually out to seek the truth. karin doesn't trust him in turn though because he's just another army dog

5. nick loves levi. he just does. i think he pities levi a lot and would do anything he could to prolong or make his life better, even if it meant sacrificing himself. nick joined the army of his own volition at 15, so it hits him extra hard that levi never wanted to, especially so young; he reminds nick of all his own foot soldiers, older than levi but still terrified out of their minds. levi on the other hand is neutral at best towards nick, and slightly fearful and annoyed at worst. nick talks too much... but it's kinda nice to have someone just blabbering away like white noise. he also finds nick off-putting (which nick does on purpose to freak him out)

6. same as olivia, nick freaks her out on purpose by asking which plants are poisonous to humans specifically and how much is fatal... she pales and nick puts up his hands like "im just joking~" she's an easy target for his teasing because she's just really sweet. he genuinely likes her! he likes kind people and she is the epitome of that.

7. feel like samarie would dislike him because he talks too much, but honestly they don't interact much.

8. nick and caligura hate each other because nick doesn't shut up and loves small talk, and nick finds caligura's attitude repulsive.

9. nick finds o'saa interesting, but also gets slightly irked when he goes on one of his tirades, especially if it's concerning levi. im honestly not sure what o'saa would think of nick, so ill say they're neutral towards one another.

ok so so far termina

- Overworld map art is CRAZY i think first fh had that too but the atmosphere in this one is pretty unique i love it

- Probably because im familiar w the gameplay + im playing on easy mode but it rly is much faster to progress i feel... I dont rmbr how long i lasted with blind fh but here i kind of think ill be able to get some ending without looking at a single walkthrough (the objectives r more obvious)

- Qol is awesome dash is so good (tho ive had only one leg for 80% my playtime rn..) guns r great (need more ammo tho) rev up is fun, lot of things feel very intuitive AND i love having a MAP its great ANDDDD ❤️❤️Visual indication for which barrels ive looked through and which not❤️❤️

- If i get sick of looking for the relics(? whatever they call them) and way to the tower i could just try and do a killing-everyone round with some strong starter (from the descs it seemed marcoh would suit this purpose but... not so sure now that he was in my party)

- I like literally all the main characters ive met so far. Daan ill make his own paragraph. Olivia is great i adore her. Marcoh seems sweet actually. O'saa im sorry about killing u i didnt know how else to pass in another life we will be friends. Abella AMAZING time for everyone. Marinas delightful though she didnt want to join me yet shes doing smth. Karin i like u but u have to join my party i beg. Pav i cant say bcos i killed him so fast but i see the le gardeism in him (I actually like le garde a bunch. Have to get that c ending)

- I even met SAMARIE she didnt say her name n she was behind the door but i just know (i didnt want to play marina bcs im not good with mages n mind management n all that but kinda interested to see if playing her means i can get samarie on my team real easy? ill have to see. dont tell me)

- Anyway daan. He stood out to me when i was leving it out and omg yay he was so quick to join me TOO so i liked him yes. But playing him is so FUN i ❤️ ORGAN HARVESTING crazy useful. Amazing. Ughhhh how will i even be able to play anyone else right.

“What many people did Sasuke try to kill” off the top of my head I can think of some samari who had a really bad day at the Five Kage Summit. And Karin certainly has a grievance with Sasuke in regards to him shooting her in the chest.

I don’t know how MANY people he has to kill or mame for it to be acknowledged? It’s a fact that he certainly went out of his way to NOT kill people while being trained under Orochimaru, saying the only person he wanted to kill was Itachi. But once Itachi was dead (I don’t count Itachi dying as Sasuke killing since Itachi died of illness and over exerting his abilities) but that doesn’t mean he didn’t kill innocent people.

And yes. Sasuke worked to undo his “bad ways” before he got out of prison. That’s HOW he got out of prison. But he wasn’t just instantly forgiven. People continued to target the Hidden Leaf because of him. Being had legitimate grudges.

I Gave Gaara the recognition as -a leader- he wasn’t a sack of shit. As a child possessed by a dean on, yeah. He killed people. Gaara serves his people as penance for his crimes and strives every day humbly to be worthy of their praise and only wants to be seen as “precious” to his people. Sasuke and Gaara are very similar in that they were both used by the people around them and driven to insanity, to kill and be used as a weapon. It’s why Gaara cried at the summit when he had to fight Sasuke. He hated the idea of having to give up on Sasuke and take him out because of Naruto had given up on him he would have died as well. Gaara isn’t perfect, Gaara is the only Kage who respected Sasuke, AND who never hired the Akatsuki.

I made a point of showing Sasuke did bad, because people always want to over look that for the good. So I mention there are people with legitimate grievances, and you -as my post takes conplaint about- try and counter that with “but how many people were freed from Orochimaru because of him!?” Yes, he did good, but that wasn’t the point of my post. The POINT of my post is to acknowledge that Sasuke did bad things and that it’s ok to acknowledge them. Absolving him from those things or trying to counter them tit-for-tat with a good thing is a real disservice to the people he hurt/harmed. You mentioned Gaara’s shortcomings. Yes. Gaara did bad things. Want me to make a post to remind people he was once a killer who had no issue with threatening to kill his own siblings if they crossed him? Because I could. I love Gaara insane and humble. You can’t love one Gaara without acknowledging the other. Honestly a lot of Gaara fans too seem to want to sweep that part of him under the rug

In the real world people don’t just ~recover~ from psychosis the way the characters in Naruto do. Both Sasuke and Gaara would be -in the real world- permanently unhinged. Being taught the error of their ways and shown a mental montage of “friendship” isn’t enough to cure someone of the dark depresses self-destructive past that Sasuke defined himself with. But it’s a manga/anime so the “power of love” triumphed (lol Sailor Moon). Comparing Sasuke to a real world -anything- is a stretch outside the concept of “in the real world there is consequence”. Perspective is key. Terrorists/rebels think themselves as heroes. But from the side of the opposition they aren’t. Sasuke felt justified in his actions, and he is a deeply sympathetic character so it’s not hard to ~sorta~ agree with him, but I don’t agree with his methods or actions. He had evidence that could have dismantled the entirety of the Land of Fire’s higherarchy. Instead he was hell bent on revenge and killing them all. Which he saw after the fact as the wrong way to go about it.

It’s ok to feel bad for him, but disagree with what he did.

I 💯 feel like a LOT of people needed to go to jail for what was done to the Uchiha Clan, and in the end it seems like only Sasuke was held to any level of accountability coming out on the other side of that situation. But like life, things aren’t always fair. Maintaining a functioning and stable country post-War for the sake of hundreds of thousands of people is important, and Sasuke shoulders that. He could have uprooted the whole system. But to what end? Vengeance and “justice” for his clan, but every other clan in the village now left helpless after a devistating war?

There is now happy or nice way to wrap up everything that happened. And people in an attempt to reconcile the ending with their sad feelings, like to marder Sasuke rather than acknowledge he worked within the same broken system. He now works to make things better within the five great nations. And that is a credit to his character.

But my post was about saying he did bad, and it’s ok.

Sasuke is a criminal

AND THATS OK!

He legitimately killed people, attacked the Five Kage summit, and attempted to murder a ton of other people.

Those are crimes.

Crimes that -regardless of the reason or circumstance- would land anyone else in jail.

Sasuke was released and “pardoned” because Naruto held a LOT of sway and advocated for him, and because Kakashi was Hokage.

Kakashi flat out says “by every right you should be in prison right now”.

In the real world, when you kill people and attempt to assassonate world leaders, you do usually end up in jail, even if you felt 100% justified in what you were doing.

Is he the ONLY guilty one? No. Pretty much all the Kage but for Gaara (due to him being very young) had hired the Akatsuki at some point. Their on-going power struggles is what fueled the 4th Great War. Everyone had blood on their hands. And anyone else notice how all but Gaara were replaced after the war? It’s not a coincidence.

Sasuke made mistakes and did bad things. THATS OK! He is flawed. The characters in Naruto are flawed.

You are allowed to like Sasuke and ALSO admit that he did bad things. To excuse his actions and act like he is a poor misunderstood cinnamon bun is a disservice to his character, and honestly gross.

You are allowed to forgive him. (Sakura Naruto and Kakashi did) and you are allowed to desire for him to have a happy life going onward. But don’t excuse or absolve him of his deeds. A person’s trauma does not excuse the trauama’s they inflict on others.

People did bad things to Sasuke, Sasuke did bad things to other people. He is just another link in the chain of people doing shit to other people and perpetuating all the animosity and blame in the ninja world.

Sasuke had to come to terms with what he did, how he was used, and reflect on the people he hurt. He grew as a person. But that doesn’t erase his lasting imprint on the world.

How many people out in the Shinobi world have Sasuke as their “villainous origin story”? He works to do good to try and counter balance the bad he seeded into the world.

He has proven to not be a bad person. But he did bad things. People need to stop sugar coating the bad things he did.
