Hi @moonsandstarsaregay​ here’s just a list of perfect Geralt and Dandelion interactions in ONE (1) chapter [btw this is basically ep 2: the one with the Devil of Posada]

(this ended up being longer than I thought because they’re too iconic, I didn’t even make it through the whole chapter XDD maybe I’ll do a part two but I’m gonna get some food and let these dumbasses rest. 

But, spoiler: they’re literally so in love + feral/ insanely smart Jaskier is 100% canon)

[G+D leaving a pub where a bunch of people moaned about the galactic fuck-ton of monsters around them but then Geralt’s like, bye we’re leaving and Dandelion’s like ‘why?? monsters?? that’s your whole job??’]

"None of the creatures they mentioned exist.”

“You’re joking!” Dandelion spat a pip and threw the apple core at a patched mongrel [side note I have no idea what any of this sentince means]. “No, it’s impossible. I was watching them carefully, and I know people. They weren’t lying.”

“No,” the witcher agreed. “they weren’t lying, they firmly believed it all. Which doesn’t change the facts.”

The poet was silent for a while.

“None of those monsters... none? it can’t be. something of what they listed must be here. At least one! Admit it.”

“All right. I admit it. One does exist for sure.”

“Ha! What?”

“A bat.”

[You don’t even need context]

“...Eh, famous witcher? Haven’t you wondered why?”

“I have, famous poet. And I know why.”

[Riding on the road]

“Someone’s following us,” [Dandelion] said, excited. “In a cart!”

“Incredible,” scoffed the witcher without looking around. “In a cart? And I thought that the locals rode on bats.”

“Do you know what?” growled the troubadour. “The closer we get to the edge of the world, the sharper your wit. I dread to think what it will come too!”

[the afore mentioned cart catches up and suddenly the driver wants to talk, interrupting G+D bonding time]

“The gods be praised, noble sirs!”

“We, too,” replied Dandelion, familiar with the custom, “praise them.”

“If we want to,” murmured the witcher.

[and then later in the same scene]

“...I marked your expression and ‘twas nae strange to me. In a long time now I’ve nae heard such balderdash and lies.”

Dandelion laughed.

Geralt was looking at the peasant attentively, silently. 

[Still later the guy asks if they want to stop by his house cause they’re going the same way and Geralt’s like ‘hOw Do YoU kNoW wHeRe We’Er GoInG?’]

“As ‘cos ye have nae other way here, and yer horses’ noses be turned in that direction, not their butts.”

Dandelion laughed again. “What do you say to that, Geralt?”

“Nothing.”

[Dandelion talking about how gorgeous the land they’re traveling through is, Geralt teasing him like ‘oh so you know about agriculture?’ ‘Duh, poets know everything my dear fellow and agriculture is v important--’]

[Geralt] “you’ve exaggerated a bit with the [significance of agriculture in] entertainment and art.”

[Dandelion] “And booze, what’s that made of?”

“I get it.”

“Not very much, you don’t. Learn. Look at those purple flowers. They’re lupins.”

“They’s be vetch, to be true,” interrupted Nettly [the other carriage driver].

[Then Geralt zones out because now Nettly’s talking]

“The Valley of Flowers, that’s Dol Blathanna.” Dandelion nudged the witcher [...] “You paying attention?”

[They get to Nettly’s house and meet the village elder Dhun who want to hire Geralt]

The elder of the village nodded and cleared his throat. “Well, it be like this,” he said. “There be this field hereabouts–” 

Geralt kicked Dandelion–who was preparing to make a spiteful comment–under the table.

[Dhun’s explaining the situation more and then--]

“...stretches right up to the forest–”

“And what?” The poet couldn’t help himself. “What’s on that field there?”

“Well.” Dhun raised his head and scratched himself behind the ear. “Well, there be a deovel prowls there.”

“What?” snorted Dandelion. “A what?”

“I tell ye: a deovel.”

“What deovel?”

“What can he be? A deovel and that be it.”

“Devils don’t exist!”

“Don’t interrupt, Dandelion,” said Geralt in a calm voice. “And go on, honorable Dhun.” 

“I tell ye: it’s a deovel.”

“I heard you.” Geralt could be incredibly patient when he chose.

[Oh and, might I just add: this is Dandelion’s perspective–he’s the one pointing out how patient Geralt can be. I stg, TV!Geralt is quaking.

And, lmao, this whole scene feels like Dandelion was teasing Geralt for not wanting to deal with other company but now that there’s a job and Geralt’s attention is more on that he’s all pissy and that’s just hilarious]

[Dandelion goes on to interupt the story about 2 more times and Geralt tells him to be quiet both times and now he’s sulking]

Dandelion cackled again, then flicked a beer-drenched fly at a cat sleeping by the hearth. The cat opened one eye and glanced at the bard reproachfully. 

[Geralt takes the job even tho devils don’t exist, Dandelion is pissed, ‘why take the job if you know it doesn’t exist!?’]

“...I take it you haven’t abased yourself so as to get us bed board and lodging, have you?”

“Indeed,” Geralt grimaced. “It does look as if you know me a little, singer.”

“In that case, I don’t understand.”

“What is there to understand?”

“There’s no such thing as devils!” yelled the poet, shaking the cat from sleep once and for all. “No such thing! To the devil with it, devils don’t exist!”

“True.” Geralt smiled. “But, Dandelion, I could never resist the temptation of having a look at something that doesn’t exist.”

[They finally manage to hunt down the devil and feral bard is 100% canon]

“Uk! Uk!” Barked the monster, stamping his hooves. “What do you want here? Leave or I’ll ram you down. Uk! Uk!”

“Has anyone ever kicked your arse, little goat?” Dandelion couldn’t stop himself. 

“Uk! Uk! Beeeee!” Bleated the goathorn in agreement, or denial, or simply bleating for the sake of it. 

“Shut up, Dandelion,” growled the witcher. “Not a word.”

“Blebleblebeeeeee!” The creature gurgled furiously, his lips parting wide to expose yellow horse-like teeth. “Uk! Uk! Bleubeeeeubleuuuubleeee!”

“Most certainly”–nodded Dandelion–“you can take the barrel-organ and bell when you go home–”

[this goes on for a while. btw yes, those are the noises the book describes the ‘devil’ making aksdjf;alk]

[then they have to run away because Geralt didn’t bring his sword and they get back to the house--]

“Well, well, Geralt.” Dandelion held a horseshoe he’d cooled in a bucket to his forehead. [you really can’t make this stuff up he’s such a disaster] “that’s not what I expected. A horned freak with a goatee like a shaggy billy goat, and he chased you away like some upstart. And I got it in the head. Look at that bump!”

“That’s the sixth time you’ve shown it to me. And it’s no more interesting than it was the first time.” 

“How charming. And I thought I’d be safe with you!”

[Then Nettly and Dhun give Geralt some old book that’s supposed to tell you how to deal with every monster ever]

He lay the book down on the table and turned its heavy wooden cover. “Take a loook at this, Dandelion.”

“the first Runes,” the bard worked out, peering over his shoulder, the horseshoe still pressed to his forehead. “The writing used before the modern alphabet. Still based on elfin runes and dwarves’ ideograms. A funny sentice construction, but that’s how they spoke then [...like a whole page of Dandelion being brilliant..]”

[^^^ that book is also unreadable but there’s a really old lady who has it almost completely memorized so Geralt flips through it to prove it and lands on this page--]

The etching showed a disheveled monstrosity with enormous eyes and even larger teeth, riding a horse. In its right hand, the monstrous being wielded a substantial sword, in its left, a bag of money. 

“A witchman,” mumbled the woman. “Called by some a witcher. To summon him is most dangerous , albeit one must; for when against the monster and vermin there be no aid, the witchman can contrive. But be careful one must be–”

“Enough,” muttered Geralt. “Enough, Grandma. Thank you.”

“No, no,” protested Dandelion with a malicious smile. “how does it go on? What a greatly interesting book! Go on, Granny, go on.”

“eee... But careful one must be to touch not the witchman, for thus the mange can one acquire. And lasses do from him hide away, for lustful the witchman is above all measure–”

“Quite correct, spot on,” laughed the poet.

[This moment--]

[Geralt] “...This time ‘tis grateful I’d be to heareth more, for too learn the ways and meanes ye did use to deal with him most curious am I.”

“Careful, Geralt,” chuckled Dandelion. “You’re starting to fall into their jargon. It’s an infectious mannerism.”

[And just over a page later--]

[Dandelion] “...ye furnished him with ammunition for two years, the fools ye be!”

In depth fandom ask: the last fandom you joined bc I can't remember it now

Well, I guess the last fandom I’ve properly joined --making a few edits, starting yet-another-WIP etc.-- is Black Sails, so. Plus I want to talk about it a little, spoiler-free, in case you decide to watch it ^-^ (I’ll leave that to the s3 post I need to finish...).

Top 5 favourite characters: Max is my number one, without a doubt, and of the rest of my faves Silver has an edge... but the remaining positions are a tough fight between Flint, Jack, Madi and Miranda, and I honestly can’t choose DD:

Other characters you like: Mr. Scott, Anne, Idelle, the Maroon Queen, Billy, Eme, Abigail... This show has a lot of great characters tbh.

Least favourite characters: I still loathe Peter Ashe with every fiber of my being. Alfred Hamilton is obviously The Worst(TM). And though it hasn’t grown into hate (yet), I don’t like Woodes Rogers one bit ¬¬

Otps: Flint/Miranda, and the combos in Flint/Madi/Silver and Anne/Jack/Max (in no particular order at the moment because I just HAVE TONS OF FEELS ABOUT THEM ALL).

Notps: I don’t have strong NOPE feelings towards anything, but I’m not into Eleanor/Max (which is a dynamic I actually really like BUT that I’m glad it doesn’t return to shippiness LOL); Eleanor/Rogers (I might be indifferent towards Eleanor most of the time but I haaaaaate Rogers for her. RUN GIRL), Flint/Vane (booooooooring).

Favourite friendships: Max & Silver (THE duo I swear), Jack & Max, Flint & Silver, Idelle & Max (I might not have said so before but I guess I like a little conflict LMFAO), Billy & Flint (NOT a friendship, but their relationship absolutely cracks me up I swear. “Who’s Billy?” XDDD).

Favourite family: Madi’s family, which is all I can say without getting spoilery. I just. *lies down on the floor overcome with emotions* xDD

Favourite episodes: the problem with binge-watching (okay, I’ve taken s3 more slowly but) is that they all kinda blur together LOL. Hmm. The season finales are all *chefs kiss* so far (sometimes in a very painful way... I’m looking at you s2. Though the ominous Flint/Silver moments in the s3 were A LOT too); any in which I get to see Max & Silver scheming together ofc. And the first handful of eps in s3 were particularly enjoyable to me because I was drowning in PURE ANGST and Flint & Silver feels xDD (I can’t NOT believe the fandom seems to call one of those “the shark date” asñldfjasdfñl).

Favourite season/book/movie: oof. I honestly can’t pick; s1 is probably the “least” because the others include better moments for some of my secondary faves, and because there’s a plot that’s really hard to watch... BUT it has things on it I adore to pieces too. s1-2 doesn’t have Madi (major drawback xD), and s3 is after one of my faves’ death... but frankly they’re all neck and neck so far.

Favourite quotes: “I am ruined over you” always comes to mind DD: “Liked is just as good as feared”; Max combo with Eleanor about sand (typing that down made me think of Anidala LMFAO. The scene itself is very different though! xD) in the s1 finale; “in another time, in another place, they would call me a queen”; “this ends when I grant them my forgiveness, not the other way around”, Mr. Scott’s “No. Only YOU.”... honestly, this show’s dialogue is just too good(TM), I could just quote it all back xD. And of course, I HAVE to mention “WHO’S BILLY”. It’s the law.

Best musical moment: the score is perfection all around, but given that I never skip the intro just to listen and watch it... yeah, the intro xD

Moment that made you fangirl/boy the hardest: well, I *might* have lost it the moment CAPTAIN FLINT COMES OUT TO LONG JOHN SILVER OVER A BONFIRE, IDK XDD

When it really disappointed you: the fact that I won’t get to see a fully fleshed out Mr. Scott-Silver dynamic is MAJORLY disappointing, let me tell you. That Flint’s actor didn’t somehow get his mother (aka Maggie Smith aka Professor McGonagall aka Lady Violet) on the show too ¬¬. LOL.

Saddest moment: character’s deaths of two of the characters listed on “top 5”/“others you like” xD.

Most well done character death: the hanging in 3x09 was well done and served its purpose.

Favourite guest star: for a value of “guest star”... I’m going with Idelle.

Favourite cast member: Jessica Parker Kennedy is the one that I know and love for other projects she’s done.

Character you wish was still alive: THE ONE WE TRAGICALLY LOST IN 2x09.

One thing you hope really happens: I’m cheating because I know there’s some of that in s4, but I want to watch more Flint/Madi interactions pls.

Most shocking twist: well, I wasn’t spoiled for Mr. Scott’s plot in s3 so I was (pleasantly) surprised by that xD

When did you start watching/reading?: a little over two weeks ago; I watched (devoured) s1-s2 and 3x01-3x04 in a few days because I wanted to meet Madi, and then I tragically had to slow down :(((

Best animal/creature: I will always love Treasure Islands’  parrot that Silver named after Flint LMFAO.

Favourite location: Nassau aka Max’s ~domain xD. And Miranda’s house.

Trope you wish they would stop using: noooooone. I love the tropes this show reuses LMFAO. Romantic Betrayals(TM), triumvirates, “good things happen in the dark/away from civilization”, the power of narratives, social climbing and revolt... bring them oooooon.

One thing this show/book/film does better than others: quite a few xD. But one that really stands out to me is the dialogue; both the ~deep and sorrowful type (there were so many quotes where I had to take a break to freak out properly lol), and the humorous ones.

Funniest moments: I know I’m repeating myself, but I recently rewatched the pilot to edit some scenes and I keep remember the WHO’S BILLY one xDD (which I maintain it was Flint trolling him. He could give Abigail a rundown of Billy’s whole life story AND he shamelessly checked him out that one time. Flint knows who Billy is, he’s just an asshole xD). Really, all the scenes between Billy and Flint in that episode are comedic gold lmfao. Billy’s “oh dear I fucked up” expression when he tells Flint the crew has started to think him weak and Flint looks half a second away from murdering him right there, his WTF face at Flint’s antics with the stolen page... Gold, seriously.

Couple you would like to see: I meannnnnn. I would’ve been very happy if the show had decided to go with Flint/Madi/Silver, for one. Bonus if Miranda could’ve been included. Or just explicit Flint/Silver in poly arrangements (THEY ARE IN LOVE, IT’S JUST ~COMPLICATED XD).

Actor/Actress you want to join the cast: MAGGIE SMITH DAMMIT.

Favourite outfit: literally everything Max wears in s3. Eleanor’s s1-s2 outfits were things I’d love to wear too. Flint’s ~dramatic coat. Miranda’s collection of supposedly-puritan-but-showing-the-goods dresses xDD (and ofc her London clothes), Jack’s clothes (he’s Nassau’s fashion icon lbr).

Favourite item: the books!! Especially when Flint gave Miranda “La Galatea” as a gift (given that sometimes he reminds me of my OC Latoya, you might understand the freakout I had when he gave the other member of my OTP a book titled like that xDD).

Do you own anything related to this show/book/film?: no, but I kinda want to. I did have a Treasure Planet computer game I tragically can’t find... it was about collecting money in increasingly difficult scenarios LOL. And I probably have more pirate-y/Treasure Island theme stuff. I had a long pirate phase xD

What house/team/group/friendship group/family/race etc would you be in?: Max’s because I like being on the winning team, thanks xD (though I do ~align more with Flint and Madi’s lbr...).

Most boring plotline: Eleanor and Vane’s ~romance is not at all badly written... but the fact that I find both of them boring kinda ruins the whole thing because I always wish that time went to someone else xD. Also, Blackbeard. Meh.

Most laughably bad moment: n/a.

Best flashback/flashfoward if any: the London flashback where Miranda goes to Flint’s house unannounced to take him to an art gallery, she finds him half-naked and he gets all awkward about it lmao. And then they hook up in the carriage :DDD

Most layered character: we get to explore Flint and Silver the most. Silver’s development in particular is something that never ceases to impress me ngl.

Most one dimensional character: except the one-note characters I wouldn’t really call anyone completely one-dimensional, tbh. Though I do think the fandom attributes more complexity to Thomas than it’s seen in canon? Like, I like what I see; I think he’s functional, he works well, and he adds wonderfully to Flint’s (and Miranda’s) story, but I don’t see him as a full character in his own right. Which is perfectly fine for the narrative so far, but I fear it might fall apart for me at the very end.

Scariest moment: I never know what to say in this... I mean, I guess Flint killing a man with his bare hands in the pilot Like That was scary xD. I understand why Silver freaked out LOL.

Grossest moment: any of Max’s interactions with Vane tbh. Stay away from her ¬¬

Best looking male: Flint has that ruggedly handsome thing going on for him, if you’re into that (and sometimes I do appreciate his ~aesthetics... very sad he shaved his head in s3 though. Like, I get you did it for the Angst, honey, and trust me, I Feel U, but still). I feel like I might be forgetting someone, but seriously, none of the dudes in this show so far do anything for me LOL. I can honestly say I love them for their personalities xDD

Best looking female: I have a weakness for Max, but Miranda, Madi, Anne, the Maroon Queen, Idelle, Eme... all of them are gorgeous in their own way. This show is good for sapphic women’s enjoyment in that sense xDD.

Who you’re crushing on (if any): I could crush on any of the women mentioned above tbh.

Favourite cast moment: I have literally only seen this post about an interview where Flint’s actor says he’s too old to party with The Youth of the cast and just wants to chill on the weekend... with bonus Max and Eleanor’s actress talking about how Vane’s once climbed the side of a building up AND back down. I’m with you, Toby Stephens, you don’t need those shenanigans xDD

Favourite transportation: the Walrus, for sentimental reasons LOL. I liked stolen Spanish warship too.

Most beautiful scene (scenery/shot wise): lots of good ones, though I think my fave might be the one of Miranda sitting by the window in London. Or the one of Charles Town burning down, I liked that :))) (I remember thinking “Flint better go full Daenerys on them”. And he did! It was nice xD).

Unanswered question/continuity issue/plot error that bugs you: n/a, so far.

Best promo: n/a.

At what point did you fall in love with this show/book: I liked it from the word go, but the moment that TRULY cemented it for me was in 1x03, with Max making a decision that I... frankly didn’t expect. It made things worse for her in the short-term, the storyline itself was difficult and disturbing to watch and I still have some mixed feelings about it. But what it said about her as a character and how her journey goes after that... I was in awe of her, and of the show.

Yuuram in cd72 and paper 1

So now that cd 72 is out and even that paper, let’s discuss this! Strap on my dudes, cuz it’s gonna be long and hard! Let’s start easy with the CD (which had to be less ‘obvious’ about the whole thing)

CD 72- Present for you

At minute 1:47, straight off the bat (haha, get it? Pls dont kill me), we get Yuuri telling Shouri, he really doesn’t need any hugs, because he gets those from Wolfram. Omg! I’m just dead. So, no one else gets to hug Yuuri anymore!? XD 

At minute 16, Yuuri and Wolf finally get to interact. Wolfram’s jealous (we’ll see this in the cd even though it’s not how he acts in the novels) and wants Yuuri to pay him attention. 

At minute 16:50 a big development: Wolfram calls himself Yuuri’s “生涯の伴侶” 生涯shougai-> forever, for a lifetime 伴侶-> hanryo partner/spouse. Now, we know they’re not officially married, but this is the word you use for people you’re married to. And Yuuri doesn’t deny this at all, he just asks if he really has to let Wolf know when he gets to the other world. Yuuri doesn’t deny/complain about being called Wolf’s “lifetime partner forever”

17:35 Yuuri offers Wolf fruit and goes on a rant, with sweet music talking about how cute Wolfram is and speaking super softly to and about him~ When Wolf continues and says: I’m coming to f***  tonight, Yuuri’s like, we weren’t really talking about that, and then says Ah~~ you just mean sleeping here with me~. *(refer to paper1 for more)

21:22 Yuuri’s like why would you let Greta become a poison lady (this has already happened under Yuuri’s nose in the novels) and then is completely sympathetic to Wolf . As usual, he sees Wolfram as Greta’s father.

At 21:55 he also scolds Conrad telling him he shouldn't use their (Wolf and his) precious daughter to do dangerous things~ At 30:00 Wolf throws him into Gunter’s armsXD because Yuuri was making fun of how much Connie and him liked Gunter. You have to wonder how jealous/worried Wolf could be to throw him into the arms of someone as cool as Golden Gunter. (sometime after that Wolf uses the catch phrase: you’re a cheater, we’ll see their old catchphrases appear) 39:55 Yuuri says that Wolfram said something good, when Wolfram says it’s fine Shouri and Gisela can marry first and fall in love later. As in, Yuuri agrees with this point of view. At 40:42 when they talk about wedding and such Yuuri is bothered and says his catchphrase:We’re both guys! Why? I think they did it one last time, to upgrade the series to modern times, Murata quickly ends it saying: That’s not a problem anymore! Yuuri says that that will rock the foundation of the maruma series (nice 4th wall break Yuu) Is this the last time we’ll hear Yuuri say it!? Did they have him say it, so Mura could finally put an end to this damn catch phrase once and for all, updating maruma to modern times and Yuuri not having any more excuses to stay in the closet? If so, I can only say: Finally! 

(a lot happens, some serious hits to Conrad, who I’ll say this again, sensei obviously doesn’t like. Some things about Gisela and how Conrad’s just gonna let the meeting with Shouri happen even though she obviously likes girls. Wolfram worried about Gunter and Conrad). And at the end, Wolf just having a sweet brotherly moment, and Yuuri helping some more in the brothers’ relationship (although they’re obviously perfectly fine). ------------------------

Hey nonnie! Sorry for the wait, I couldn’t catch a damn break til now. Okay, so, for the record, I haven’t watched/read my hero academia, so I can’t really draw any comparisons between One Piece and that, and if by “I like pain” you meant you want all the angst, then OP might not really be the greatest option (like, there’s some VERY angsty moments, but overall the show is pretty fun?). If, on the other hand, you meant that as in I KNOW THIS SHOW IS SUPER FUCKING LONG BUT I DON’T CARE BRING IT ON, then, yes, perfect choice! :D

Now, buckle up, cause your questions don’t have an easy answer (except the “is it good?” one, because yes. YES. Yes, it is PRETTY FUCKING GOOD. It is everything), and this is my favorite thing to talk about, so this is going to be rambly and long but also hopefully useful for anyone wondering whether to watch this show or not.

WHY YOU SHOULD WATCH/READ ONE PIECE:

I know, I know. A rubber pirate. A talking reindeer. Merpeople. Ridiculousness. Overall, it wouldn’t seem like this show is really anything but funny and silly, but oH BOY IS IT.

Look, yes. It’s fun. It’s LOTS OF FUN. The show never quite stops having a certain lightheartedness to it, but don’t let that fool you. There’s angst. There’s drama. There’s adventure. There’s friendship.

And there’s also a pretty important message of inclusivity and tolerance throughout the show.

This, initially, seems like just a running theme, but as it turned out, it’s actually the main fucking plot point of the entire show. One Piece is an ode to friendship and freedom and adventure, but it’s also a huge critique against racism and bigotry.

It starts, seemingly, as a kids’ show, and then suddenly it’s all about the one-percenters abusing those beneath them, about a corrupt World Government, about segregation and colonialism and slavery, about blatant erasure of actual history by those in power.

And every single episode it takes to get you there is worth it.

The issue with its length:

First of all, yes. Yes, it’s LONG. It’s pretty fucking long. No two ways about it. But it is absolutely worth it, and I don’t mean this as in “by episode 700 they’ll be tugging at your heartstrings and you’ll be thankful you stuck with it for this long” (although that’s also true), but more like: once you get past the introduction, you’ll be HOOKED, and then you’ll pretty much not give a single fuck that you barely just started it and have fucktons of episodes left to watch.

Getting past the intro is the key thing. It’s not that you have to “get past it” because it’s bad or anything, more like, just like with any other show, you have to give them a chance to set the basis for the plot and introduce you to the cast and all. If you started watching and decided to give it, idk, 5 episodes, you’d probably just quit it thinking it’s too childish and “funny” and not very interesting.

And it is, at first, but it’s like when you go back and read Harry Potter. Compared to the rest of the books, book 1, and possibly book 2 as well, have a much lighter tone and simpler plot. This is partially because those books are working on the foundations for what will later on be the actual PLOT, and after those are over, the rest of the books are less auto-conclusive and a lot more intricate and with more plotlines connecting all the books together and creating a bigger and richer whole story (the other part is the story growing a bit alongside its fanbase, which is honestly a wonderful thing).

So essentially, the beginning of One Piece is like books 1 and 2 in the Harry Potter saga. And because it’s such a long show (as I type this, we’re on episode 839), that means a few tenths of episodes. If you’ve watched some of those as a younger kid on TV, then chances are you’ll get past them a lot more easily, because they are fun and nostalgia plays an important part, but if you haven’t, I do get why it can be a bit discouraging (but again, IT’S SO WORTH IT. PINKY PROMISE).

A quick non-spoilery rundown of that first intro part would be:

Episodes 1 to 62: the first crew members meeting each other. These are a few short arcs, all following the same pattern: Captain Luffy gets to an island, finds someone he wants in his crew, they defeat some minor bad guy, person ends up joining Luffy, and they move onto the next island. Even then, they are quite funny, and you inadvertently start hearing stuff mentioned that’s actually SUPER RELEVANT in the context of the grand scheme of things. Also, a bunch of those are filler episodes that you can outright skip, so it’s not THAT MANY EPISODES, and I’d argue that around episode ~30 or so, the whole thing gets a bit more intense too. [MORE ON FILLER EPISODES IN A MINUTE]

On episode 62 they officially get started on their trip for good, and the whole show starts being a bit less childish (not to say the tone changes entirely, it pretty much remains a funny yet exciting story throughout the whole thing, mostly due to the main character’s personality, but still, you can SEE that there’s STUFF GOING ON IN THIS WORLD). From here to episode 92 we’re setting the basis for a pretty big arc:

Episode 92 to 130: The Alabasta Arc – politics! Intrigue! A big fucking and fascinating villain! This arc is AMAZING.(then we have a bunch of filler episodes, again, totally skippable, and then…)

Episode 144 to 195: The Skypiea Arc – another great one, even touching on some pretty fucking important themes like colonialism and land-theft.

And from post-Skypiea onwards, the show is pretty much AAAAAAAAAASLGHSFLKHHLFGKJLK! nonstop.

(btw, if you ARE interested in watching, just let me know and I’ll compile a quick list like this one for you, letting you know which episodes you can skip and what the best way to watch it would be ^^)

Reading the manga vs Watching the anime:

The One Piece anime pretty much 100% follows the manga, so you can go with whatever option works best for you.

Fights and all are generally a lot more fun to watch than to read, plus one episode covers more than one manga chapter, so my advice usually is: watch the anime til you’re all caught up, and then switch to the manga so you can read everything that hasn’t happened in the anime yet and you won’t get spoiled, and then you can read the manga weekly when it comes out (and continue watching the anime as well, or not).

Because the anime follows the manga to a T, there needs to be filler arcs, since there’s some weeks when the manga takes a break, and also like I said, one episode covers a bit more than one chapter. Without filler arcs, the anime would catch up to the manga pretty quick and then they’d have to start making up stuff, or dividing the show into seasons, and either of those options would be sucky.

So, while it’s a necessity, it’s NOWHERE near as bad as the amount of filler there was in shows like Bleach or Naruto, and some of those arcs are even quite good? (The post-Skypiea filler arc f.e., G-8, is hilarious and super entertaining!). Personally I’d watch everything at least once, for the jokes and the interactions between crew members if nothing else, but you won’t be missing a single thing if you outright skip all of those.

(there’s also an odd episode every now and then that’s not exactly part of any filler arc, but quite literally an AU where the characters all live in a village instead of being pirates. You get one episode like this every once in a while – I think there’s been like, 5 in total? Maybe? –, as well as a few other weird things like a crossover with Dragon Ball or idek. Those I’d just skip entirely – they’re not remotely as fun as “one piece au” makes it sound lmao –, but luckily they aren’t a lot. Just one here and there).

Sooooo I hope all this answers your questions, nonnie, and that it helps you decide whether to give the show a shot or not. 

TL;DR: yes, it’s long, but it’s fucking worth it, and you can either read it or watch it because the anime follows the manga 100% accurately.

I may have answered this before but I need to cheer myself up so I will answer it anyway. I was tagged by the wonderful @clfwriting .

1) How many works in progress do you currently have? Because some people probably don’t believe me when I say I DO have 350+ wips, I will link you to my post I made in March, in which I had 312-ish wips at the time. (Yes, that is visual evidence btw.) But I have...actively? Like 10 at the moment. But this number changes all the time.

2) Do you/would you write fanfiction? Yes, I do. I have since I was in 5th grade, so lmao.

3) Do you prefer paper books or ebooks? If it’s not fics? I like physical copies. Ebooks are ok, especially for textbooks I won’t need later, but fics over time as a form has adapted to be read on digital devices. But real books weren’t formatted or made with readability on a mobile device in mind. So I like paper books. It’s like treasures sometimes.

4) When did you start writing? Second grade. Around that time I wrote a 100 chapter story that I wrote by my nightlight lmao. Was it any good? No idea.

5) Do you have someone you trust that you share your work with? Of course! I have plenty of friends who l am willing to share it with it. I don’t mind sharing with new friends if I feel I can trust them. I’m a pretty good gauge of that, thankfully.

6) Where is your favorite place to write? I dunno about favorite -- I write whenever I can/feel like it. I’ve written in my bed, in coffee shops, sitting at my kitchen table, I’ve written on planes and in trains, sometimes when I am clothes shopping... I mean, even if it’s a few words/sentences or like 1k+, as long as I can get those words down, I am a-ok. That’s why I’m quick at handwriting and legibly at that and why I have many mobile apps for notes that I can type away quickly so.

7) Favorite childhood book? So many... Though the most influential at the moment that I can think of is the Harry Potter series and the Lord of The Rings series.

8) Writing for fun or publication? For fun. Mostly because I don’t think I have the tenacity for publication writing that isn’t academic but also coming up with original characters/worlds has been hard for me? I think if I wrote for publication I would be someone’s ghostwriter instead.

9) Pen and paper or computer? Most days it has been by computer but I actually love doing things by pen and paper. For my academic papers, it is ALWAYS by hand first and then computer. You should see my notes for my 20+ page papers XD. Those are fun. 

I haven’t used my drafting method for academic papers for my fic writing like I said I would but... there is something satisfying seeing my notes there before I go and compile the paper. My notes are like all the ingredients and then all in one go I just type that paper and wow it goes by FAST. (Oh and I’m obsessed over writing utensils. I bought some new ones on sale the other day for cheap so XDDD)

10) Have you ever taken any writing classes? I haven’t taken any formal creative writing classes, no. I was the president of my Creative Writing Club in high school though and we published students’ work. I took a few lit classes in uni though along with the required english classes. So. In some ways, yes and no?

11) What inspires you to write? Anything. Did you not see my extensive WIP list? I can literally brainstorm, and come up with extensive notes for a story (even some written prose for it if I am really deep in the spiral) very quickly. I can be inspired by a thought, an image, a song, someone’s comment online, etc etc. I have an associative learning brain. Inspiration is never, ever a problem for me. My stamina is my problem. It’s not even the whole “can you write consistently on a regular basis”, it’s... can you ever finish this. That’s my problem. I think if I finally get over that hurdle (that’s not me finishing one-shots), I might... well. Yeah.

As for reasons for writing...I have a lot of them. Sometimes to get emotions out that I need to get out. Or need to sort out myself or understand. Sometimes I am just really curious about a possibility and I want to see how that would develop. Sometimes I write to cheer people up or make them laugh. Of course I write things that I want to read that I don’t see. Just... yeah.

what’s a song that means a lot to you?

not really a song, but there’s a sound heard from the ships as they set sail... not ALL ships make the same sound, and there’s this specific sound few ships make that makes me feel really nostalgic. i can’t really describe it but it’s a sound different from the common howl, it’s kind of like a melody and i’ve heard it a handful of times in my hometown. that’s the only place where i’ve heard it and i’m not even sure if it’s the same ship or two or three. but yeah, there’s that.

now that i think about it, there isn’t any au i prefer.... i’d say i lean more towards specific tropes than an au in particular. as for the tropes i enjoy reading, there’s mutual pining where one half of the pairing is completely oblivious that their feelings are returned lmao. i also like comedy as an atmosphere to the story, im not that fond of tragedy in fanfiction.

what inspires you?

usually, being alone. no matter where, just being on my own without interacting with anyone or being put into a situation where i have to socialize, because that way my attention is completely focused on my own thoughts and i can play around with ideas and pull the strings for a new story. if it’s writing inspiration, that is. i don’t really require inspiration for anything else besides creative writing, i suppose?

god, i am really clumsy and useless when im not at work and i have really bad luck. a lot of shit always happens to me but recently the sole of my shoes wore out while i was on an uber ride to meet with friends and all the while i was crying inside and when i got off the car i tripped then i hid behind a car in the parking lot so no one saw me change shoes and then i went to the restaurant i was supposed to meet with my pals but it was the wrong place and the dude was like “miss... we’re literally under construction, dont u see the men working” and i just XDDD. man, it was so embarrassing im still not over it.

what was your favourite game as a child? be it video games, computer games or games you played at the playground etc

as a child, i really enjoyed playing on the beach with my sister. we would run from one side to the other and jump and do backflips without fear because the sand was a soft landing. we didn’t hold back in any way. it was sort of liberating, in a way. for a child, any kind of place where you don’t have to worry about getting hurt or having your mom telling you to not be too hasty is a treasure on its own, so when looking back, these are the moments and games i enjoyed the most.

if you could see anyone live in concert, who would it be?

i don’t like concerts, really. crowds make me really sick and i can’t handle it so there’s really no one i’d like to see in a concert. i do enjoy watching the concerts on the screen though, so i’d say the performances i like the most are all from My Chemical Romance lol

yeah. it’s all related to the fact that i do believe in fate and it was part of my teachings as a kid from my mother and grandmother. it’s hard not to believe when it’s so engraved into your character tbh

FTFI: 100 Years Quest; The FOURTH and FIFTH Chapters!

(Be advised; the latest spoilers for 100 Years Quest, can be found below!)

Me: Oh, under the sea...under the sea...

“Hey, dude, what are you doing?”

Me: Darling, it’s better, down where it’s wetter...

“Why are you singing that song?”

Me: Because...I was thinking of it, when I saw all of them there.

“You know that doesn’t fit the tone of what’s actually happening, ‘though.”

Me: Ah, I'll still play it out in my head, anyway. By the way, did you capture that moment between those two? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

If nautical nonsense be something you wish...

SPONGE—nah, I’m not gonna do that! xD Besides, all of you should know how the rest goes, from years of watching that show. 

In all seriousness, ‘though, there were definitely some turns, then and there...and then there’s something in the chapter that’s been bothering me.

Anyway, we start off the fourth chapter, with a nice chapter cover of Erza doing what she does best—not the fanservice, mind you, but the use of swords. In fact, her abilities with them, do remind me of a certain swordsman from another series...I just can’t quite put my finger on it.

Oh, okay, okay! I’m getting back to the actual chapter itself, alright?? So, we actually begin chapter #4, with Team Natsu already in the port city of Elmina, and where they find themselves booking the night at Hotel Journey. Note how the entire city appears, in the first panel, of the first page. Looks kinda normal, right? Well, it won’t be, as you’ll find out soon!

Now, speaking of the intro theme from Spongebob...we have, what appears to be somebody dropping on the deck desk, and flopping like a fish! The entire team is confused over this—save for Happy, who has an obvious tendency for all things fish. Well, he actually is an anthropomorphic fish who can transform into his human form.

And, transform into that form, he did! This fish-turned-human, who goes by the name of Kashima, is actually the manager and receptionist of the hotel that they’re going to be staying at. Poor Happy...I feel for him, already. xDD

Suddenly enough, Kashima leaves for a date with somebody named Sameko. Before he even does, ‘though, he gives the most sternest warning to the entire group: they must drink the complimentary potions that were left in their rooms—otherwise, they will not survive around here (and, for good reason!). 

Despite whatever concerns there were, not only for the hotel they’re staying at, but also the potions themselves that come across as toxic-looking...they go through with the risks, by both staying at that hotel, and consuming the potions!

Nighttime falls, and we get to see why Kashima warned them about taking the potions, in advance. Now, remember when I mentioned way above in the beginning, about how the entire port city looked so normal, during the daytime? Well, that’s because it really is, during the day. It’s only during the night-time, when everything becomes totally underwater...as Gray finds out!

What’s even more surprising to him, is the fact that he can actually breathe and talk, while being underwater! And, as he finds the entire city being submerged with ocean life freely sprawling around...he also finds the rest of Team Natsu swimming around—in their beach attire, no less. 

Turns out, as Kashima elaborates to him, the city is truly a city for fish creatures only. The only time it does become for one for them, is when it’s high-tide: that’s when the city sinks under the water. It’s also the reason why every inhabitant of the town—including Kashima himself—turn into their human forms, when it isn’t out at high-tide. 

While this is going on, Lucy shares a story that she read before, with Wendy. A fairy tale, if you will ;)

She goes on about the story of a boy who saves a bullied turtle, and as a reward, the turtle takes the boy to his ocean world. When asked by Wendy about what happens to the boy...oooh, she struggles with it, stating that the boy got turned into a jellyfish. Poor Wendy. xDDD That being mentioned, it’s also worth noting that this becomes foreshadowing of some sort (in the same vein as the jellyfish people that get blown away by her, from the previous chapter)...which would also be unfortunate to said Sky Dragon Slayer, later on. 

Nevertheless, given how friendly these actual fish citizens are, with their interactions with our favourite Fairy Tail mages...how would they react, when asked about the Water God Dragon himself? 

Not too well, as Gray finds out. 

Rrright away, as soon as those words come rrright out of his mouth, all the fish inhabitants immediately turn against all of Team Natsu! Like, really, they do! Those fish that Happy was gleefully chasing at? They’re now the ones chasing him! That shark Erza was competing with, earlier? She instantly becomes the female equivalent of Jaws (not to mention, her name is Samemi, not Sameko)! Suddenly, everything seems like they’re in a horror movie that involves dangerous fish—whether it’d be Piranha, Barracuda, or just about anything that features a shark...they’re in a whole new league of trouble! About 20,000 leagues worth!

Then, we have a good ol’-fashioned fanservice moment (as is tradition!), involving Lucy losing her entire top, from one of the aggressive fish. I mean, seriously, when hasn’t there been a time when Lucy didn’t become a constant, sexual fanservice magnet of sorts? Well, Natsu isn’t pleased with the way it went, so he comes to save the person he likes to be ‘together forever’ with her! ;)

Not wanting risk a confrontation with the inhabitants, however, the entire team retreats from the premises. Although, as they do, Kashima screams at the others that they’re like the humans ‘from the other day’—and it raises suspicions from Gray. 

Meanwhile, back in Magnolia, the Strauss sisters have a talk with the new guild member, Touka. Here, she reveals that her magic type is the same as Juvia...and speaking of Juvia, she isn’t amused by this revelation—especially so, when Touka talks down on the one she actually loves. 

Before Juvia can even raise hell on her, Gajeel stops her from doing so, not wanting to set her off...even stating that they wouldn’t, ‘until we’ve got them by the tail’. 

Speaking of which...a literal tail appears out the back of Touka, right underneath her dress! 

...And, this is where we begin the fifth chapter! 

Right off the bat, both Gajeel and Juvia are surprised to find an animal-like tail popping up underneath her skirt. Lily also finds out about it, too, but Levy still isn’t as convinced, as they are. Personally, I have a few theories as to who Touka really is, but that’ll be saved for the discussion portion of this post.

So far, we’ve already seen our well-known mages from the titular guild. But, what about the other characters that we’ve seen much of, from the other guilds? Well, you’d be pleased to know that they’re also making their appearances in this spin-off sequel!

Let’s begin with the Sabertooth guild, for one. Who else is happy to see both Aguria sisters side-by-side—long after they were reunited together, in the Alvarez arc? Another positive development from this, is the fact that Sorano has become a new member of the aforementioned guild! Isn’t that nice, as well?

But, wait! What is Sorano doing in the Sabetooth guild, anyway...aside from becoming their new member? If I recall correctly, she used to be part of Crime Sorciere, after the Tartaros arc. And, who happened to be one of the founding members of this guild, I wonder?

Yep, he’s back, ladies and gentlemen! Not long after he was pardoned by the Queen of Fiore, Jellal has surfaced to the forefront again, via a visit to the guild. And, it isn’t just him who makes another brand new appearance—I mean, what was the point of this next scene taking place at the Sabertooth guild, without those Twin Dragons we’ve come to know and like, themselves?

Sting and Rogue (who are in totally different attire, by the way) enter the frame, greeting him into their guild. When they do ask him what he’s actually around for...that’s when things get quite more interesting. 

As it ties in with what Gajeel and Juvia doing back at their guild, Jellal is definitely looking for a person of interest, letting the other members of Sabertooth to lend them his hand. That person of interest? Wait for it...

*takes a deep breath* 

...Touka. 

Or, that’s how she goes by, as he puts it. Her real name isn’t known, according to him, and the reason for starting this investigation on her, has something to do with an past—but, unspecified—incident. What exactly happened, and when did it exactly happen, nobody knows for sure, except for Jellal. All that he can say, however, to all of Sabertooth, is that they shouldn’t approach her under any circumstances. Now, that’s a little foreboding, don’t you think?

Before I continue on, I just want to point out a small part that happens before his warning, and it would please some Jerza fans about it. Notice how Jellal stumbled in his response, to Minerva’s teasing. Now, don’t tell me that he’s not romantically involved with a certain scarlet-haired woman, based on that! ;D

Now, we go back to Elmina, where all of Team Natsu has successfully escaped the wrath of its inhabitants. They’re in an alleyway of sorts, just hanging around there, until the heat dies down. However, they’re still in shock over what transpired from moments ago, with all those town folk going after them, for even the slightest mention of the Water God. 

Then, we see one of the best parts of this chapter. Well, aside from Lucy figuring out that the townspeople there may not even be ill-intentioned, in general...she’s doing so, while actually being covered up by Natsu’s own scarf!

*fanboy squealing occurs*

Oh, twist my arm, if I didn’t see that coming from a kilometre away! xD 

And, it gets even better, as Natsu decides that he wants his scarf back—so, he tries to yank it away from her, just because he ‘felt like it’! You sure that’s not the only reason for doing that, Natsu? ;D

Anyway, Lucy’s finally switched over to her Aquarius star-dress (also another subtle hint of bigger things ahead), when she does point out that there has to be a better way of dealing with the Water God Dragon himself. It’s all based on what the guild master, Elefceria, wants them to do: seal the dragons. Except, of course, that objective is quite vague, as to what it really means. As Lucy explains, ‘seal’—in such a context—could mean any method to defeat the dragon, without the use of violence. 

Just like that, every single member of the team is convinced to go with what Lucy suggested. Except, for Natsu. He does go along with the plan on going up against their opponent, albeit reluctantly. And, this is where I take a bit of an issue with his view that comes up afterward.

Despite knowing that not all dragons are evil, Natsu still believes that if there’s ever a time when one of his allies is put into danger, he’ll react with violent force against the enemy. Here’s the issue that I see in it. If you recall from chapter 543 of the original manga (that’s the part where Natsu confronts Acnologia), you’ll find that Natsu outright opens up his beliefs about how dragons should be more respectful, to those who aren’t dragons themselves. 

Having such a view like that, and threatening to bring violence against those dragons, don’t really mix well with each other. I can see why some readers would be put off by this particular disconnect, but I can also understand why Natsu would still want to use violent means against them. I mean, he’s willing to defend his teammates from being potentially harmed by those dragons, and it very well is a valid exception for his original viewpoint. But, regardless, something like this just demonstrates the inconsistency in writing that has plagued this series, going back from the original manga itself. 

All this aside, all of Team Natsu is on board with the plan, starting with the investigation into what happened before they all arrived at the town. Given the already-unwelcome presence as humans, however, Lucy devises a way around it: have Gemini turn all of them into fish! 

This is another part where I have a bit of trouble with, as there was nowhere near mentioned before, about how Gemini’s powers have expanded. I mean, we saw something like this, in the filler arc that was the Eclipse Celestial Spirits...but that was filler, eh! Although, taken into account of the gap between the end of the Tartaros arc, and this current one—it’s plausible to believe that the power of her celestial spirits improved signficantly, over the course of time. 

Anyway, all of them are now fully disguised as fish...save for poor Wendy, who gets turned into a jellyfish! Man, I feel for her. It’s not as if blowing a bunch of jellyfish people away, and Lucy’s story of a boy being turned into one, had to do with it, ‘though!

So, they all split up to investigate, and we see Gray being quickly confronted by none other than Kashima himself. Yeah, remember that guy—er, fish?

Gray does ask him about what happened to the humans from the other day, to which Kashima responds, by pointing out something sinister. And, as Natsu finds a human scent, taking Lucy and Happy along with him...the hotel’s manager tells Gray that they had captured such. 

The chapter concludes with all three of Natsu, Lucy, and Happy, finding a woman with a mysterious guild mark on her upper arm, chained to a cell’s metal bars. That woman, according to Kashima, will be served as a sacrifice to the Water God. Oooooo...

Alright, here are the Questions of the Chapter: What kind of magic does Touka use, and who really is this imprisoned woman? 

Touka’s magic type is as mysterious, as that chained woman, but it still demands an answer. I’ve seen some fans mention that she probably uses some sort of copy magic—considering that she was sitting right next to Lisanna (whose Take-Over magic gives her the ability to appear with an animal’s tail). However, I’ve seen others state that it’s probably another type of magic, perhaps one that’s similar to what Briar (whom Touka mentioned, herself) uses. Maybe Mashima and Ueda would surprise us, by revealing her exact type of magic, later on. 

As for that woman in chains...I’ve seen fans speculate that she could be one of the God Dragons herself—although, it seems rather dubious, considering she’s being used as a sacrifice to the Water God Dragon. There’s another group stating that she could be a dragon slayer herself, and there could be some truth to it, given the underlying context of the situation.

I don’t know, everybody. What do you all think?

Aside from it, what do I personally think of this chapter, overall? I’d say it’s fine, but I do have my concerns with the aforementioned parts, with Natsu’s ‘conflicting’ viewpoint, and Gemini’s expanded powers that went unexplained in previous chapters. Even with them. ‘though, I can hardly wait for the next chapter to drop.
