Lost Tomb Lewks, Part 5
(Masterpost) (Other Canary Content)
Warning: Spoilers for The Lost Tomb Reboot Season 1
Look 21: belongs to Liu Sang, and it’s one of my very favorites. Liu Sang’s actor, Liu Chang, has the face of a pre-Raphaelite nymph...
...and a body built like a brick shithouse.
The very slender plot explanation for this epic bod reveal is that Liu Sang is changing into his working kit, and Pangzi is razzing him for having a tattoo-in-progress of a qilin, to match his idol. But the tattoo is not nearly as interesting as...everything else about his torso, frankly.
This look features a six-pack you could shred cheese on, eye-catching trapezius muscles, and prominent clavicles. Liu Sang’s exquisite physical presence provides an interesting contrast to his bitchy demeanor and selfish personality, which are prominent at this point in the story.
Later he will get whumped into a proper sense of Wu Xie adoration being a beloved and devoted part of the team and many viewers’ favorite boi, but that process hasn’t started yet.
Liu Sang’s watch is fancier than Wu Xie’s watch. It’s...round, and it tells time.
(more behind the cut!)
As befits a professional model an antique dealer, Liu Sang’s working outfit is flattering and cool, with a snug olive green coat with black detailing, and khaki pants that are either dark blue or darkest grey. Like everyone else on the scene, he’s got shit kicker boots and tactical gloves to go with the rest of what he’s wearing. Unlike everyone else, his hair has auburn highlights, which go well with the warm tones of his skin.
In later episodes we see that the jacket has a big X on the back, which looks cool and is a bold choice for a guy who is headed into dangerous places with companions who don’t like him.
While underground, he accessorizes this look with a whistle, used for mapping via sound waves. Not to be objectifying on main but...
OP might have given the whistle its own gifset, over here.
Product-placement Interlude: This orange drink looks refreshing and delicious! Just like the sort of thing everyone would like to drink, pass around, discuss, and point with.
Look 22 is Wu Xie in his spelunking gear, but this time with “oh crap, I’m blind” eye coloring.
This look is a good one for when you are getting ready to become possessed or crazy or being overtaken by a crustacean allergy so that you try to kill your bro with a shovel.
It’s also a good look for when your bro wants to troll you about your good looks by waving fire in your face.
Excellent fourth-wall break, Pangzi. We do love Zhu Yilong’s eyelashes out here in fandom land.
Look 23 is Princess Mute’s blue hanfu. It’s a bit worse for wear, after centuries underground and floating around in the water, but it’s still got a nice color and it looks ethereal and pretty when she’s being pulled up out of the tomb. Too bad she has to go spend her future days in a crate. Princess Mute is one of my favorite crustaceans characters in this wacky show.
Look 24 is Wu Xie’s black undershirt. We’re meant to believe he’s wearing this under his other shirt and that it came out of the tomb looking this good.
It looks like it might be machine-knit rayon, based on the sheen and the small folds and wrinkes in the fabric, as opposed to the larger folds you see with something made of cotton. Anyway it’s got a nice fit and it looks comfortable.
Look 25 is Wu Xie’s party outfit, which is hard to see, like every damn thing in this show, but has some interesting details. The jacket has a darker color for the placket and around the collar, with triangular insets at the shoulders.
It has flap pockets and at the waist it has straps with buttons in place of a belt, reminiscent of a vintage miltary or marching band uniform, although I can’t recall the locale or era.
This outfit is suitable for kicking back with your friends and family. Wu Xie is an interesting hero, because he is extroverted, friendly, fast-to-warm-up, and rarely in a bad mood, even when dying. In this scene he plays pool, sings, drinks, roams around chatting with friends, graciously receives heart eyes from Liu Sang, and then sits down for a long, friendly talk with his uncle.
It’s nice to see a hero whose troubles are primarily situational, and who isn’t struggling with a hidden dark side. I don’t personally relate to Wu Xie as much as I relate to an obviously traumatized character like Liu Sang, but Wu Xie is a lot of fun to watch and to root for, and it’s clear why his friends value him so highly.
Look 26 is Liu Sang’s new glasses, which are gorgeous, and are perfect for giving Wu Xie heart eyes. Liu Sang is much too young to need this much lens real estate [says middle-aged OP from behind her large trifocal lenses] but they look great on him.
More Lewks coming soon!

for prompts, maybe nice happy stanpat drabble with a baby? possibly featuring other losers as extended family
I love this ask so much I wanna marry it and bud u don't know how long I spent trying to make it into a ficlet or even a Drabble or anything with pretty words but I guess I just forgot how to write: buuuut:: ((& IT never happened in this verse Bc I do what I want::))Their first kid is this little girl named Micah. And pat is STOKED and d-I-y-ing that absolute fuck outta this nursery. Which. Don't look... great??? Stan and ben have come in in the middle of the night to "fix" a number of her projects. But they leave the dresser she's covered in glitter glue be. (Ben also built her crib. Pat cried. So did ben. Stan awkwardly left the room.) Stan is... apprehensive. Like stan just doesn't objectively know how to Dad which makes stan nervous Bc he's stan he need to know what to do. They're also the first of the gangTM to have kids by a long shot. And when it's announced it's a baby girl stan is like yup this'll just be a mommy daughter thing that's okay.Stan is Very Wrong.Stan Loves this baby. Which like, of course, he was always going to love the baby. But he LOVES this baby. Micah has dark barely-there wispy curls "think it's a Jew?" And ... so many outfits. Stan needs to stop buying this baby clothes. And that like little baby harness thing? Stan has it on all the time snskskxj. And then one day stan shows up to the functionTM (watching game of thrones at Mike's) in a matching outfit to Micah. where did he manage to get rayban wayfayers in baby size? Or a small blue button up shirt?? "Stan, what is that baby wearing?""It's called fashion, bev, ever heard of it?"Speaking of LEWKS, pat gets into knitting but takes it more as a creative expression kind of thing rather than dedication to precision. the three of them are always wearing these like lumpy, misshapen, wildly colorful knit hats, scarfs. Gloves. True squad goals.(Just imagine stan in his sensible black peacoat and dress shoes with a fucking... striped colored flower beanie ansjxjxjs)(Mike also wears pats creations with pride)(One time pat asked richie and eddie to babysit. they are, thus far, terrified of this baby. You would have thought that they conceived a mountain lion. They nervously agree. Stan thinks they're going to a nice dinner out, but Patty pulls a quarter mile down the road and then stops. They get fast food and watch it all go down on an iPad through a nannycam they installed in their living room. Stan has never loved his wife more.)"Hello baby. How is your day going?""*gurgle*""Fascinating. What would you like to do? We could play with this tube thing, or watch a movie? Have you seen UP?""Eds, its a baby, she doesn't know what youre saying." "How else are we to communicate?""We could try smoke signals.""Shut the f- what are you doing?" "Covering my hands in spaghettios.""...I don't even want to ask why but you're going to tell me regardless""Babies love doing this.""...???""so if i do it I'll be a part of the in crowd and I can gain her trust. it's like drinking beer at a high school party. keep up." "Micah, I'm aware you probably can't comprehend my communication attempts but I just want to let you know anyway that I apologize in advance for your uncle just.... in his entirety." "*gurgle*"

Why Buffy The Vampire Slayer Is Still The Ultimate ’00s Style Icon
Vampirecore has been a pillar of TikTok’s style subcultures for some time now, with over 6 billion views and counting dedicated to all things of the Victorian Gothic aesthetic. But while some of us are still channelling the mystique of the supernatural, our attention has pivoted to the keepers of our Earthly realm, namely, Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
The series, which is based on the 1992 film of the same name, followed reluctant hero Buffy Summers, a high school student in the little town of Sunnydale — a place that happens to be home to the gates of Hell — who comes from a long line of young women chosen by fate to fight evil forces from wreaking havoc on humans. And though the plot may seem like a rich tapestry of clichés, the outfits were anything but.
Airing between 1997-2003, the show captured the best of fashion during Y2k, seamlessly transitioning from timeless basics and flattering cuts of the ’90s to the hero-worthy party looks of the ’00s. Which is why we’re still mining the cast’s style for our own outfit inspiration, more than two decades after its air date.
Throughout its seven seasons (not including the spin-off, Angel), Buffy & Co take on ghouls, Gentlemen, syphilis and song-churning demons, all while dressing exactly how we would have hoped to one day dress at our high schools, had it not been for uniform mandates and trends we’d rather forget.
Some viewers may recall these outfits with an eyeroll, and that’s completely understandable. Are a crop top, leather pants and stiletto boots to stake some vamps a practical choice? Who’s to say, but does it make us want to wear exactly that? Absolutely.
The evolution of Buffy’s style is a steady transition from a naive teen grappling with her destiny in pastels, bedazzled denim and dainty tops, with hair just thrown together — to a more mature slayer; one that has come to terms with her mission in black leather coats, knee-high boots, mini skirts and slicked-back hair. Slinky going out tops were also aplenty.
But even beyond the titular character, who can look past the rest of the cast’s fits? I personally have a soft spot for the dopey best friend aesthetic of 2000s romcoms, which brings me to Xander’s signature look of a loose printed button-down shirt layered over a beat-up t-shirt, or a classic chunky sweater. Despite his fragile masculinity, we must admit his style still stands.
Then there’s Willow, played by Alyson Hannigan, who was an LGBTQ+ icon and inspired many of us to take our layered hair to new heights, that could never be styled right post-salon visit. Her style leaned towards a grungey bohemian, that felt both put together and extremely cosy.
Of course, we’d be fools to ignore Spike the tortured vampire’s style (who may I add invented the silver chain look). From the leather dusters and combat boots to the studded belts, singlets and silk shirts, it’s the kind of style we might avoid in a stranger, but definitely adopt ourselves.
And we’re definitely not the only ones clocking onto the wardrobe genius. Instagram pages like BuffyTheOutfitSlayer, BuffyTheStyleSlayer and EveryOutfitBuffySlayed dedicate themselves to documenting the sartorial moments of every character. All of which we can now look back on with renewed appreciation (except maybe this ‘Bomb’ beanie).
Scroll on for some of our favourite looks from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
So it’s really just facts that Buffy is the enduring ’00s TV show fashion icon, beating out The Simple Life and even The O.C. perhaps (sorry). Period. As for how functional it was for both school and monster-slaying? That’s a little more debatable.

HEY HENNIES, since this season of drag race is OVAH i thought i would share my TOP 13 (since eureka is basically confirmed) QWEENS FUH SEASON 10 (and after ;-))
disclaimer, im excluding queens who have previously said they would never apply for rpdr and queens who are too young to compete
here’s the list (no in order of preference) for those of you who just wanna compare (bolded are my top choices)
Aquaria (NYC)
Evah Destruction (Atlanta)
Imp Queen (Chicago)
J (NYC)
Logan Hardcore (NYC)
Lucy Stoole (Chicago)
Mayhem Miller (LA, I think (if not, somewhere else in socal))
Meatball (LA)
Nico (Chicago)
Sissy Spastik (LA)
Soju (Chicago)
Valentine Addams (Chicago)
The Vixen (Chicago)
also, ive linked their instas (linked to their name) and a performance (linked to their location) for those of you who are interested in learning more about them :-)
below the read more, ill give some of my thoughts on the queens
AQUARIA (NEW YORK CITY)
Pros: stunning visuals, amazing performances
Cons: perhaps inexperience? she hasnt been doing drag for very long, so it might be nice to let her gestate for a bit longer before she goes on drag race
EVAH DESTRUCTION (ATLANTA)
Pros: EVERYTHING, MAKEUP, OUTFITS, PERFORMANCES, PERSONALITY, COMEDY, BOY MODE IS CUTE, i think she can sew, too? (fun facts: allegedly, shes got beef w/ nina bo’nina, and shes a part of the legendary children of atlanta, the crew violet chachki is a part of)
Cons: tbh, nothing. i really, really think that she could sweep the competition
IMP QUEEN (CHICAGO)
Pros: incredible and unique makeup style, high concept lewks, very club kid
Cons: she does hairy chested drag which doesnt really mesh w/ the aesthetic of queens on rpdr, she wears a lot of outfits by local chi-town designers so i worry that she cant sew?
J (NEW YORK CITY)
Pros: everything about her aesthetic is super fucking polished, outfits, makeup, hair, it’s all top notch
Cons: she’s got great performances, BUT theyre a lot like sasha velour’s, in that im not really sure how well her performance skills would translate into the high energy, diva, pop music lip syncs on drag race
LOGAN HARDCORE (NEW YORK CITY)
Pros: im like 99% sure she can sew, she can dance her ass off (shes actually part of the house of edwards), and shes fucking HILARIOUS (if you arent familiar w/ it, she did a yt series w/ the late maddox madison called whats the t where they recapped episodes of rpdr and it was hysterical)
Cons: by no means is her makeup bad, but it’s not quite the instagram level of polish of J, Aquaria, Imp, etc
LUCY STOOLE (CHICAGO)
Pros: theoretically, EVERYTHING. comedy, performance, makeup, outfits, etc
Cons: the BEARD shes a fierce queen but drag race/ rupaul would have to accept bearded queens for her to have a shot of even getting on the show
Mayhem Miller (LOS ANGELES)
Pros: LITERALLY EVERYTHING like, im not joking, if she gets on i expect her to go straight to top 3, she’s a LEGEND in the socal scene, PS: she’s the origin of “party” not adore delano
Cons: uh, not to be hyperbolic, but i lit cant think of any?
Meatball (LOS ANGELES)
Pros: COMEDY meatball is an amazing comedy queen
Cons: her outfits are not super polished bc theyre almost always comedy oriented in some way, ALSO her makeup is okay, but it could certainly use a bit more polish around the edges
*sidenote: ive heard rumors that bc she has a dragula contract she cant be on drag race for a certain amount of time, but im not aware of the actual text of the contract in regards to filming so??? maybe shes a no go off bat lol
Nico (CHICAGO)
Pros: makeup, outfits, lewks, ideas, club kid BUT, she shaves so i think her drag could be much more easy to adapt to rpdr w/o changing her aesthetic, than say imp or lucy
Cons: she does club kid drag, so its more andro than femme, not sure how she would do performance wise
Sissy Spastik (LOS ANGELES)
Pros: LEWKS LEWKS LEWKS, shes a former chicago queen so everything related to visuals is LOCKEDT DOWN
Cons: shes not not funny, but ive never seen anything w/ her that i thought was hilarious
Soju (CHICAGO)
Pros: CHARISMA, if youve seen her youtube show shot with soju, you know she’s just a naturally pleasant and humorous queen, i think she would quickly endear herself to the audience, v nice and unique makeup
Cons: mmmmmmm shes great and i love love love her BUT i feel like she could benefit with another couple of years of experience before tackling the drag olympics that is drag race
*apparently she’s said she’s not going to be on, BUT i wrote this before she said that and i love chicago queens so im keeping her on the list, sorry sorry
Valentine Addams (CHICAGO)
Pros: LEWKS, makeup, i personally think shes a very pleasant queen
Cons: while her makeup ideas are ALWAYS top notch, sometimes i feel like her execution could use a teensy tiny bit of extra polish
The Vixen
Pros: EV ER Y THING, performance, makeup, outfits, this queen can DANCE her fucking ass off, she can rap (buy cocky by shea coulee on itunes)
Cons: hon(t)estly??? nothing. season 10 winner, byeeeeeeeeee

5 New Ways To Wear Denim, According To The Streets Of NYC
We recently found ourselves ambling around the streets of NYC with nothing but an iPhone and our own eyeballs on hand to capture how the locals (and those visiting) work a pair of jeans. Turns out, that’s all you need. As the weather struggled to make up its mind (one minute so hot that I couldn’t distinguish my Glossier-induced dew from the sweat collecting on every surface of my face, the next going into battle against the elements armed only with a crappy convenience store-bought umbrella), the good people of NYC showed us how they werk their favourite pair of jeans.
If you’re a long-term follower, you’ll know that the pursuit of denim-centric outfits is one that we at COH take v. seriously. Imagine our delight then when we met the following five denim-clad women, each whose outfit had its own ~unique~ story to tell. If you’re into breathing life into your trusty favourites, then you’ll love what you’re about to read.
Get ready to see your jeans in a new light…
@sydneyhartzell
The “I Stole The Clothes Off My Boyfriend’s Back” Look
Nothing speaks to the Sunday brunch aesthetic more than an outfit that could have been plucked straight from your significant other’s back. To make this jersey and jeans combo feel more ~you~ just pop on your favey accessories—which in this instance is a pair of block heels and a designer handbag. Now order those eggs in style, girl. (And send our sincerest apologies to your boo).
SHOP THE LOOK: Throw on a Ralph Lauren jersey, a pair of Re/Done jeans, a vintage Chanel handbag and you’re g2g.
The “French Girl Style-Apropos, But Make It American” Look
@lamialand
Make like Parisian beauty Lamia and lean into the french-girl style aesthetic—carels and cropped wide-leg jeans—but give it a NYC twist with a tourist symbol t-shirt. Or in other words, get you an outfit that can do both.
SHOP THE LOOK: This Yankees shirt was purchased from best-ever NYC vintage store Duo NYC, and is paired perfectly with these Loup NYC jeans, a pair of Carel heels and a Rouje handbag.
@carolkosse
The “Preppy-Meets-Street” Look
A collared shirt paired with pastel coloured slides and black jeans is henceforth my go-to transeasonal uniform, in case you were wondering. The addition of tortoise sunglasses and gold hoops will tsjuz the whole thang up, whilst still allowing the outfit to retain its everyday charm.
SHOP THE LOOK: Acne is responsible for both these fleeky af shirt and shoes,
The “Model-Off-Duty” Look
@yanzhao981026
I don’t think I’ll ever tire of the ol’ stereotypical model-off-duty vibe, which is maybe because I am, for the most part, an incredibly lazy dresser. Give me an outfit recipe comprising of only two ingredients, any day. An oversized pair of old Levis paired with a vintage t-shirt, luggage belt and vans will have you looking cool as a cucumber all day, everyday.
SHOP THE LOOK: Grab a pair of Levi jeans in a nice and roomy size, and pair with old skool vans, a vintage logo t-shirt and a snug belt.
The “Ultimate Holiday-Goer” Look
@norasika
Personally, I couldn’t be more stoked with our recent collective obsession with Hawaiin t-shirts. Every time I slip one on, I feel like I’m one button away from catching the next flight to the infamous archipelago to slurp Mai Tai’s and live out the rest of my days as the ultimate dad on holiday. Paired with slip-on white sneakers and a pair of light denim jeans, this fresh lewk is the sartorial equivalent of a cocktail umbrella (and a warm respite from the tired jeans/white t-shirt ensemble).
SHOP THE LOOK: NZ-based label Lucky Dip can cater to your BFPAS (Big Fat Party Animal Shirt) needs, and look primo paired with a trusty pair of Bassike jeans and slip-on white vans.

TIFF 2018: We Hand Out the Awards You Won’t See at the Oscars
As always, the selection of films at TIFF runs the gamut—from A-lister-packed films like Widows to low-budget indies like Firecrackers; from quiet, reflective sci-fi films like High Life to soaring romances like A Star is Born. That range is what makes TIFF such an exciting festival for film buffs and critics alike, but this year, there did seem to be a bit of a theme: Pretty Damn Dark. Seriously, it’s been an emotionally draining festival, what with young kids OD-ing, people dying (so much dying), and institutional racism ruining people’s lives. But you know what this also means: Oscar Bait. We’ve already done our round-up of the films getting the most awards buzz, but there’s plenty else we felt deserved, um, a different kind of recognition. Here, our favourite moments from the festival that won’t snag an Oscar but did earn some accolades in our book.
So-Good-You-Wished-It-Was-Real Chemistry
The Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper lovefest is one we hope never ends. And we’re not just talking about those hand-in-hand red carpet photo-ops. (Though we’ll definitely take more of those too.) After receiving her second standing ovation of the night for A Star is Born—in which people were brought to their feet mid Q&A solely in recognition of her incredible acting talent—Gaga was left speechless and moved to tears. And even then, in her moment in the spotlight, she talked about Cooper. “I am spoiled,” she said, “I watched [Cooper] work tirelessly on this film, giving it everything. You never stopped.”
To which Cooper said: “I can’t imagine having the courage to do this without her. I knew she was going to give all of herself to me and become the actress she wanted to be, and I would give all myself to her and be the musician Jackson had to be.” I know, we’re crying too.
Most NSFW Scene of the Festival
Not to give too much away—though there’s no way to verbally paint an accurate picture of this highly visual and confounding scene anyhow—but there’s a bit in Claire Denis’ High Life in which Juliette Binoche enters a ‘Fuck Box’ and well, proceeds to help it live up to its name. There’s waist-length hair flying about, pulleys and ropes, and a silver dildo. Need I say more?
Most Jaw-Dropping Visuals
Nope, I’m not talking about First Man, though the claustrophobic camerawork of the film was exceptional. I’m talking about Free Solo, an awe-inducing documentary about Alex Honnold, the first man to scale the 3000ft El Capitan cliff in Yosemite National Park without any safety equipment. Yep, with just his fingers and toes, and a little sack full of chalk to help with his grip. The film’s team of cinematographers and directors are expert climbers themselves, and the sweeping shots of Yosemite, bird’s-eye view of Honnold’s ascent, and close-ups of his intricate movements (that at any moment could send him plummeting to his death) are truly a sight to behold.
youtube
Most Unexpected Celebrity Guest
This one was close. The Right Honourable Justin Trudeau showed up at Patria for the First Man post-premiere party, where he shook hands with fellow Internet boyfriend, Ryan Gosling. Iconic? Yes. Strange? Also yes. But having a government official show up to a TIFF party is not nearly as strange as having Paris Hilton show up to a TIFF party. Hilton, Queen of selfies, hotel chains and the 2000s, arrived at Soho House for The Death and Life of John F. Donovan post-premiere party, a film that her Ken doll-esque fiance, Chris Zylka, makes a brief appearance in.
Most Batshit Wild True Story
There are several moments—in fact the entire film is a series of these moments—where you find yourself thinking: this shit is NUTS. It’s unbelievable. It’s surreal. It’s absurd. And you have to keep reminding yourself that it’s all true. Based on the story of a writer, played by Laura Dern, who writes a best-selling series of novels under a pseudonym and then enlists her boyfriend’s sister, played by Kristen Stewart, to play the role of that fictional writer in real life, it’s a wild ride: there are bad accents, bad wigs and hard-to-believe turns of events. Except, again: it’s ALL TRUE.

The Big-Hearted Heartthrob
First off, Timothée Chalamet should take home all heartthrob-related awards, from now until eternity. When the Oscar-nominee stepped onto the red carpet for Beautiful Boy, he spent nearly 30 minutes posing for selfies with screaming fans, and entertaining weird requests like signing a burger and a peach. (The latter, of course, in reference to his infamous Call Me By Your Namescene.) Here’s a guy who doesn’t seem to hate the spotlight, and who graciously shows his Chalamaniacs all the love and attention they so desperately desire.
GIF
Most Badass Female Cast
We are conditioned to expect heist movies—or any gritty crime movies, really—to have men at the centre. Which is why this film, directed by Steve McQueen and co-written by McQueen and one Ms Gillian Flynn, is such a breath of fresh air, despite its dark subject matter. Viola Davis is the fierce commander of this ship, which Elizabeth Debicki and Michelle Rodriguez hesitantly climb aboard. It’s rare enough to see a film in which women commit “bad” acts but rarer still to see one in which the women’s guilt, shame or redeeming qualities aren’t needlessly played up. Only complaint? Carrie Coon is criminally (ha) under-used.

Best On-Screen Lewks
There’s some amazing costume design driving some of this year’s best films: Colette’s Belle Epoque-era Parisian flair—especially powerful because it helps underscore Keira Knightley’s character’s own evolution and self-acceptance; the 1990s grunge of Jonah Hill’s Mid90s; If Beale Street Could Talk’s saturated 1970s outfits; and Natalie Portman’s wild, sequinned get-ups in Vox Lux. But Mahershala Ali steals the damn show. In Green Book, he gives us a masterclass in style: from impeccably fitted tuxedos to casual plaid suits to a dramatic gold-embroidered kaftan draped in gold chains. Like I said, lewks.
Photography via IMDB
Most Huggable Hound
A tie between the miniature goldendoodle Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper bring home in A Star is Born—which I have convinced myself is Cooper’s pet IRL—and Ponce, the scruffy mutt that’s dog-napped from Lucas Hedges and Julia Roberts in Ben is Back.
Makes-You-Wish-it-Was-Still-the-90s Soundtrack
Jonah Hill’s directorial debut, Mid90s, had the best—and most nostalgic—soundtrack of the festival. Sadly, the song list isn’t yet available anywhere on the Internet. But here’s what I can tell you: it features Seal and Morrissey, and was composed by the same duo of dudes behind the music in The Social Network and Gone Girl. One Twitter user went so far as to say that the film “literally might have the single greatest soundtrack of any movie ever.” It’s a bold claim, and I can confirm Mid90s lives up to the hype.
Most Stressful Experience
Hotel Mumbai is 125 minutes long, and those are 125 incredibly stressful minutes. Based on the horrific 2008 terrorist attacks on the city of Mumbai, the film fills viewers with dread right from the opening sequence: when the half-dozen terrorists arrive on the shores of Mumbai and immediately begin setting their plan into motion. For the next two hours, aside from the sounds of gunfire, explosions and screams on screen, the theatre was about as silent as during a screening of A Quiet Place. People were literally sitting on the edge of their seats, hands over mouths, shoulders stiff with tension. In other words: this film does its job of depicting a harrowing, terrifying ordeal exceptionally well.
Photography via IMDB
Most Gender-Balanced TIFF Yet
TIFF’s programming team has long been dedicated to creating a more gender-balanced festival, and this year it hit its highest mark yet, with 36 percent of its 2018 slate of films directed by women. The festival’s artistic director, Cameron Bailey, also signed a gender parity protocol during the Share Her Journey rally on opening weekend. This year’s festival also boasted a huge line-up of films with women at the center: from Nicole Kidman in Destroyer and Melissa McCarthy in Can You Ever Forgive Me? (both films directed by women) to Natalie Portman in Vox Lux and Julianne Moore in Gloria Bell. Canadian films Mouthpiece and Firecrackers also come from all-women teams, with two female protagonists in each, as well as female directors and cinematographers.

62nd Grammy Awards: Who Rocked The Red Carpet?
Once again, another year has passed and it's time to celebrate 2019's greatest names in music. The diversity in this year's 62nd Grammy awards knows no bounds as we welcome new artists like Lizzo and Billie Eilish into the folds. We have seen pop, rock, rap, and many other genres break barriers, but with music comes to fashion that equally made its mark in the industry. From Louis Vuitton to Gucci, fashion unites music and artists together. A staple of every red carpet and the most talked about, we are giving you a look at some of Couture's favorite looks from music's biggest night!
Bebe Rexha
This year, Bebe Rexha wowed the red carpet in a complete opposite look of last year's beautiful red Monsoori number. Head to toe in a sleek power suit, a sheer chainmail inspired turtleneck and high-waisted pants completed this outfit for a very understated yet glamorous finish that we will want to copy in the future.

Ariana Grande
Rocking the red carpet in two different dresses, Ariana Grande did not hesitate to show off her sleek long ponytail and make a massive fashion statement. Her first gown, a custom gray Giambattista Valli Haute Couture, features layers of tulle and accessorized with long satin gloves. Not long after, she switched to a Schiaparelli two-piece number in the same tonal gray that wowed with a satin and crystal top piece and a large full skirt. Never to disappoint, Grande looked every part a princess on the red carpet.
You guys I have so many things to say about this, I can’t pick just one...🤩 @arianagrande #ERedCarpet #GRAMMYs #LiveFromE pic.twitter.com/LtsfHlTMCM

Billie Eilish
Clearly one of the biggest winners of the night, the now five-time winning Grammy artist arrived on the red carpet making her unique style known. The black and green custom Gucci oversized suit shined with glittering crystal GG details and matching Gucci sneakers that all matched her hair, nails, and personality. Despite her young age, Eilish embodied the style of Gucci with her own twist that left all of us in awe.

Lizzo
Classy and glamorous, Lizzo not only took home a Grammy, but also one of the best looks of the evening. The Old Hollywood Glam strapless white Versace gown accentuated her body's silhouette with silver details and a thigh-high slit while a simple diamond necklace and fur shawl completed the look. Simply gorgeous, Lizzo did not hesitate to appear in an outfit fit for a goddess and that we will want to remember forever.

Blake Shelton & Gwen Stefani
While Blake Shelton went simple with a three-piece black suit, Gwen Stefani added a little flair with a short strapless Dolce & Gabbana piece. Bringing the sea to the most coveted award show, the ivory fabric of this dress was adorned with hundreds of seashells. Classy and interesting, this couple definitely made their name on the carpet.

BTS
Korean pop sensations taking over the world once again made their mark at the Grammys. Despite no nominations, the group of seven joined Lil Nas X, Billy Ray Cyrus, and Diplo on stage to perform "Seoul Town Road," a remix to the Grammy award-winning song. Simple yet completely stylish, the boy group looked dapper and stunning in Bottega Veneta coats and suits, ready to take on the weather and show off their impeccable style.
